Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous camera but useless instructions The camera is an excellent piece of kit but the instructional booklet is completely useless. Fortunately I was able to find information on the internet that others had written and so am able to use the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent camera I bought the RX10 iv to replace my SDLR with lenses. So far after getting to grips with all the settings I am finding it brilliant. Will be taking it on holiday next week and will be able to see if it really is as good that I think it is so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for African Safari I used to carry a 150mm-600mm lens and a Canon camera, but getting older it was hard carrying through airports. This camera has a 600mm reach and it worked quite as well in Botswana in 2019. Thoroughly recommend this camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Matchs its reputation as a top class bridge camera This is the third bridge camera I have owned. The previous two were Canon and Panasonic Lumix. Each was good in its own way but none have come close to this camera. There are many reviews that speak highly of its quality, perfomance and astonishingly fast focusing and sharp picture taking ability. I have had this camera only for a short time and found it to match its reputation. I have applied 'point and shoot' settings and rely on the cameras many automatic features. As a largely nature/wildlife photographer I am very pleased with the results. The cameras physical size and design suit me well. The only thing I will need to adjust to is its weight; noticeably heavier than the other bridge cameras, but as often said much lighter and more convenient than carrying camera bodies and multiple lens. Altogher an amazing piece of technology.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera I brought this camera a few weeks ago and I am extremely pleased with it. Very easy to start shooting pictures from the off, with easy menus to help you get going. I have still to work out all the functions but I have already had great results! I highly recommend this camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Getting There I bought the first RX10 MK4 for my wife and for me to make a comparison with my DSLR with various Prime and Zoom lenses. Weight and convenience being the key for when travelling. The DSLR although obtaining greater definition has now been replaced by a second RX10 MK4. It is capable of doing the job with some great results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Camera Still getting used to my new Camera, but so far very pleased with the pictures it can take. I bought it for wildlife photography mainly, but it would be great for anything else you wish to use it for. Slightly on the heavy side, but I knew this and it didn't deter me buying it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A top quality bridge camera for wildlife I bought this last week, having come from a Nikon D7200. With a sigma 150- 400 lens that I was fed up carrying around. The Zeis lens is superb for capturing stationery birds and birds in flight when set up correctly with settings saved to the M1/2/3 slot for easy access . With a zoom range going from 24mm wide angle ideal for landscapes to 600mm for those distance shots at 35mm equivalent. The auto focus tracking is superb and coupled with continuous shooting from 3fps to 24fps you can't go wrong . The only downside is the very poor battery life. Sony claim between 370 to 400 shots depending on settings. On my first outing with a fully charged battery at 100% it dropped to 25% with only 170 jpeg images . After another full charge, turning off WiFi, Bluetooth etc this improved , but I really feel the battery is it's archiles heel . I would expect 600 shots Min in raw format and more in jpeg. That said it's a superb piece of kit that will satisfy all but the most critical users . The other negative is it's now discontinued and pricey at around £1499 retail depending on dealer . But, where else would you get this fantastic usability go anywhere camera for this money .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing pictures - so sharp! I wanted a a camera with good picture quality and compact to replace my old small compact Sony which set a good standard. I tried the Lumix TZ90 but the picture quality was not good especially on low lighting and realised that I would need to spend more to get the features that I need especially if I need to go for a larger CMOS sensor to improve the low light images. I looked at cameras that allowed interchangeable lenses but it will work out far more expensive. What's worse is that they are too heavy and bulky to carry around. The RX10 IV is compact enough and comes as an all-in-one with so much features - I wanted high quality pictures, 4K video and a good zoom. Although the camera is very expensive, it is well worth the money if you want high quality images and is up with the professional mirrorless cameras - without the interchangeable lenses! Everything just works with this camera. I am happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ideal travel companion (when we can next travel!) Early days but so far so very good. I retired from professional photography a few years ago and replaced my full frame Nikon outfit with this - much lighter and does more. I've carried a Sony RX100 every where since 2012 and the quality of this is just as good as that and the Nikon with many more features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of nice features, not very reliable. I've had mine for a year and half. I love a lot of the features but unfortunately mine has not been reliable. I had to send mine in for repair because it powered on and I could take pictures but none of the buttons or dials or rings worked so I couldn't change settings - not even in Auto mode. Since I got it back from the repair, it has failed twice more in exactly the same way. I got it to work last time by powering up without an SD card and it worked for another month or so. It just failed the third time and nothing I do can fix it and tech support says I have to send it in again. Since I'm not fond of spending $400 every 10 months to have my camera cleaned and adjusted I'll be switching to another brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Package, Could Better. Had camera a few weeks now and so far so good. I would have liked the ability to crop a photo whilst in the camera functions as well as being able to select which part of the camera menu I want to be in rather than scrolling through it all or setting things in favorites.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all rounder I have had this camera a month now and am so please with the results I am getting. This camera is good for all skill levels from beginner to pro. I have had other bridge cameras in the past but this is the best I have used and would recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very good travel camera but some niggles. Bought this to travel with, very good for that. But not as easy to set up or use as my Canon 7d mk2. Sony menu still lags behind Canon and Nikon. The area around the shutter button looks a bit cheap. Removing the SD card is not easy with big hands!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sony RX10iv the all in one camera After years of using Olympus cameras I wanted to look for an all in one camera so I didn’t have to carry a few lens with me and I heard about the RX10iv camera and decided to go to Carmarthen cameras to have a look at one and decided to buy one, it’s been 2 weeks since I bought it and I am enjoying using it. I like the long zoom range, macro setup, battery life doesn’t seem to be that good, it’s a good job I bought 2 batteries. I would have liked to a see a flip out screen. My photos can be seen at Gareth Lovering Photography on Facebook.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RX10 IV Fed up with never having the right lens on your camera, i purchased the mk4 after reading virtually every review i could find, yes very very expensive for a bridge camera i paid 1700 odd pounds, but so far so good the best thing is the lens brilliant and sharp at low iso which rapidly degrades i personally wouldnt go above 1600 but most of us only use in good light anyway, you just have to be aware of the limitations of the small sensor, the auto focus is brilliant by far the best in any camera ive ever had!! the build quality seems ok but not of a £1700 camera, overall I would highly recommend the rx10mk4 and have purchased an a7 off the back of rx10 purchase for the occasional wedding etc that I do

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a miracle camera! I purchased the camera about 5 weeks ago. I do enthusiast Birding Photography, and am just amazed at the Photo quality, zoom quality beyond the optical range, ability to handle dynamic range; and in intelligent auto mode, the wide dynamic range it does, (a bright blue sky, and yet detail in the lower light inward branches of a pine tree. The ability to adjust focal range, focus mode, actually focus manually without going into a menu is very "handy." I am getting over half my shots that can be keepers, instead of only about 10% with a previous competitors super zoom. I recently shot a Fall Festival at The Exchange Place in Kingsport, TN. I was able to record a bluegrass band snippet, stop the action of a galloping horse in stride, and make a movie of women in period clothes cooking a meal in a hundreds year old kitchen. All great quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE camera for big hands Having updated from the original RX10 to the mark 4 I am totally in love with the extra zoom and the stabilization - to be able to hand hold at 600mm when i am in my 80's is a joy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best bridge camera! This camera is absolutely the best bridge camera on the market today. I use it for landscape and wildlife photography. The quality of the lens coupled to the sensor size give confidence to the user to really push the boundaries of photography. I think the lens is the big advantage over any opposition. To have a 600mm f4 lens and to be able to hand-hold it without a tripod is very good indeed. There seems to be virtually no distortion at the wide angle end of the zoom, which I find remarkable as well. The autofocus is as good as you will get on this type of camera and the high ISO noise control is good. I have taken satisfactory photographs with it at 10,000 ISO. I like the aperture ring on the lens, the exposure compensation dial and the quick access to film speed and drive settings. The images are quickly processed and colour rendition seems very good. All in all, a very capable package!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Camera for wildlife / action shots I’ve had the RX10 iv over 3 weeks and it’s just starting to feel comfortable (I’m left handed) it’s customisation possibilities helps a lot. I am really happy with the change from carrying a large bag full of lenses. A long way to go in fully understanding the menu options but loads of online tutorials help. don’t regret the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than I expected stepping down from dslr I bought this about a month ago as I could no longer manage to carry around a full frame DSLR and assorted lenses. I had expected a loss of quality with the smaller sensor but expected the advantage of not missing a shot whilst changing lens. Most of my photography is nature and landscape which requires a lot of walking over difficult terrain and I am in my 70's so the weight saving is a big plus. The pictures are pin sharp and as I never print bigger than A3 no noticeable loss of definition. I am still learning to use all the features but so far have been pleasantly surprised, in fact the only small gripe I have is that in my opinion a premium product such as this should really come with a battery charger included. And perhaps on the next upgrade a second card slot would be nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased with this camera This is a great camera, been trying it out for a couple of months now and I am very pleased with all the results. Unfortunately some of the photos I wanted to share with you are too big to upload, so just a few Close ups. Looking forward to trying other features as and when the opportunity arises to use them such as action shots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect all in one camera! I have had a lot of different cameras over the years from film SLR's to DSLR's and Mirrorless cameras plus a few bridge style cameras, the best being the Fuji XS-1 which had a 2/3" sensor 12mp with a 24-624mm f2.8/5.6 fixed zoom lens and was almost my perfect camera, if only it had better AF and a larger sensor. Then along came the Sony RX10 series which seemed to full fill my requirements except that they were very expensive. Anyway, I recently saw a second hand Sony RX10iv in mint condition, so I traded in all my Olympus mirrorless gear and bought it, best thing I ever did. Yes the camera is quite heavy some would say but no more so than my old cameras with interchangeable lenses. Now I don't have to carry multiple lenses or decide which lens to put on because the Zeiss lens on the Sony is a incredible 24-600mm similar to my old Fuji but the sharpness is astounding throughout the whole range which covers absolutely everything I could want, from macro, to wide angle to super telephoto. The camera is also extremely well made and has a quality feel to it, I really don't have anything negative to say about it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a fantastic camera ! Since Wednesday February 17th in possession of a Sony RX10 mark IV. Previous camera was a Canon EOS 400D with 2 zoom lenses: an EFS 17-85 IS USM and an EF 70-300mm 1: 4-5.6 IS USM. I have worked with this to my satisfaction for 14 years. But recently the 17-85 lens did not want to focus anymore. Seems to be a known problem with this lens. Therefore looked for a replacement. A.o. the Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV with zoom lens M. Zuiko Digital ED 12-200 mm F / 3.5-6.3, the Nikon Coolpix P950 and the Nikon Coolpix P1000 passed by. But it eventually became the Sony RX10 mark IV. No more dragging with loose lenses. No more hassle with dust on the sensor. A very wide range from wide angle to telephoto and macro. Everything within one, quite compact, device. After 2 days came to the conclusion that it was the right choice. The menu structure takes some getting used to, but with the help of the extensive online manual (which can also be downloaded as PDF) it is doable. What a great camera this is. Image quality is great compared to the Canon 400D. The 4K video recordings also look slick. In short, a must for people who are looking for an all-round camera that is easy to operate. The attached photo was taken today with this camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely suberb This camera is perfect for the amateur not wanting the complexity of multiple lenses, cleaning the sensor, big bags to carry all their gear etc. There is a huge amount of control available and it takes a great picture throughout the zoom range. Only downside is the limited manual (online) for the vast number of settings and controls there are to play with. Highly recommended.

I am still assessing the RX10 IV but so far I find it to be outstanding. I believe that I am getting better photos than with the Canon equip that I was never happy with. Auto focus is outstanding. There are so many excellent videos available on YouTube to learn the best ways of using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent camera I bought this on Boxing Day 2021 as a camera to take out with me on my walks. However it has proved to be so good that it is slowly becoming my main camera as it is so versatile. My only complaints are that it doesn’t do focus stacking and the menu system and making minor changes to the set up is not straight forward. Also the instructions are not very good and finding how to do things is not easy. However there are a number of buttons that can be customised which makes things easier. Images are very sharp.

It is an all-day use light and very capable on both photos and videos. The image quality is excellent. The only missing feature for me is the speed of the auto-focus and tracking ability which should be improved for future versions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lot of camera for your money. It all started when Sony took Minolta. Minolta were excellent at cameras and sony were excellent at electronics. The RX10 IV is a fine example of how the two fields come together. The optics are first call and the electronics / programming is mind blowing. Your choices from fully auto to total manual give you everything you could need. Few down sides are - the screen is not fully articulated, and scrolling though menu is tedious. it would help if the touch screen did more. You will enjoy are very usable camera and just take one camera to do everything, rather than many camera and lenses to do the same job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality sharp photos and high speed focusing 3 friends at camera club who are all very experienced award winning photographers had purchased RX10 M4s and were reaching about them. They all agreed that the photos were as good as they got with their DSLRs and the one had actually sold her Nikon kit to fund the purchase. After looking at reviews I decided to invest in an RX10 M4 to use when travelling, especially when using budget airlines. I have just come to the end of a week in Crete and have to say that I'm so impressed with the quality of the photos that I may well sell my DSLRs and lenses, as the RX10 M4 seems to produce photos of equal quality to my £8ks worth of Canon kit. Will do a full year next week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RX10 m4 incredible. Buying a bridge camera was a compromise to keep my wife happy ( no more carrying and changing lenses) but having taken the RX10 m4 on holiday, I’ve come to the conclusion that the compromise would be having to carry and change lenses. The RX10 m4 is simply in a league of its own, an incredible camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Up to expectations. Recently purchased as alternative to lugging a big telephoto & DSLR around. Had some doubts but took the plunge & so far glad that I did. Have taken some good shots but up to now only as testers. Yet to put it to the test for actual situations. Will mainly hope to use this camera for wildlife, particularly birds. Here’s hoping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have had some impressive results so far! I bought this just before Christmas as one of the main features my previous Cybershot didn't have was the continuous auto focussing, which I wanted for wildlife photography. I'm still experimenting, which is why I haven't given it five stars yet as I need to be convinced that it's worth the large investment. Have had some impressive results so far but they're inconsistent and I haven't mastered the slo mo videos either, which appear to struggle to focus but are fine when taken on my Sony phone. It could be operator trouble so will continue to practise with all of the functions of the camera as a whole. The quality of the photos when it does focus properly far exceeds the ones taken with my previous HX400v camera!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent all in one camera For years i have used DSLR's with an array of lenses which required a whole back pack to carry round with me, and really were impractcal to carry to remote locations for wildlife photography that i enjoy. I read some reviews and watched some youtube videos on RX10 M4 with some sceptisims, thinking that in no way could this compact all in one camera, give me results like the large kits i was used to carrying round, but i was wrong. After using the camera now for a few weeks, and taking it out on locations, i have had great results in both the useability of the camera, and the images it produces. I cant recomend this camera enough to anybody that may have lost the love for their photography through the need to lug bags of gear with them. This really does perform, and has given me that bug back to get out and enjoy capturing images of our natural worls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall a good buy apart from wifi connectivity. Great product with excellent features and good qaulity images. It does all what it said it should apart from connectivity! The only niggle I have is, dispite many tries, not being able to connect to computer and TV via Wifi. Just wish someone could come up with a solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW This camera must be the best all in one ever Having got fed up with my DSLR and never having the right lens with me and after wavering over the expense of the RX10 IV I decided to take the plunge. The incredible zoom range really sold me and reading other reviews suggested the quality would be great. I have not been disappointed. The camera focuses very quickly, does good macro and the image quality is more than acceptable. The fast frames rate is great for sports and nature photography. The only downside is the touchscreens limited functionality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good all rounder The RX10 is a very good all rounder. Coming from Nikon takes a bit of getting used to the controls and menu system but I’ll persevere as I’m getting great images in all ‘normal’ lighting conditions but the ones when I go to low light conditions are a bit soft to what I’m used to but again perseverance and help from the various editing software out there should make them ok. I’m enjoying just taking the one camera with me as the focal range covers it all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Camera The Sony RX10 Mark1V is the best camera I have ever bought. It’s not cheap for a bridge camera, but the functions and features it provides are excellent. Super sharp lens, every feature you could want and easy too use. I read lots of independent online before buying, they all said how good it was and I wouldn’t disagree, an excellent camera! Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great so far The RX10 was bought by my wife to replace a Nikon mirrorless camera as it was too much hassle to keep changing lenses when shifting between wide angle, telephoto and macro. This does it all in one. The images are extremely good, exceeding my expectations and even better with a tweak in Lightroom. I have a very happy wife.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EARLY REVIEW I PURCHASED THIS CAMERA 1 MONTH AGO AND CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES HAVE LIMITED ITS USE. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL BRIDGE CAMERAS ANDTHERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THE RX 10 IX RANKS ABOVE THESE RE SPECIFICATION, DESIGN, BUILD QUALITY AND PICTURE QUALITY - IT IS EASILY APPARENT WHY THE CAMERA IS AT THE HIGH COST END OF THE BRIDGE CAMERA CATEGARY. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING TO GRIPS WITH THE MANY FACILITIES AVAILABLE ON THE CAMERA. THIS IS MY FIRST SONY CAMERA BUT OWN SONY HIFI EQUIPMENT WHICH ALWAYS IMPRESSED.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good but difficult to focus. Great for travel. This is my first mirror less Sony camera. It seems to do everything very well but I struggle changing the aperture or speed quickly in A or S mode. Also I find it struggles to focus on an object at close range, say 1m, such as a flower. It is ok in P mode but I prefer to shoot manual or semi manual so this is frustrating. Very pleased with most of my results such as landscape, but comes up short in low light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The greatest all rounder. This camera has provided me with fantastic tool for my style of photography. It’s flexibility and adaptability to all situations is so very helpful, being able to capture wonderful landscapes/seascapes, and those macro shots in such great detail. The auto focus system means that you never miss the shot you want. One camera providing all you need, where ever you go, whenever you want it, its there. It seems that Sony’s ethics allow all to Benifit from their technology, whether you are a professional, hobbyist or just starting out. Thanks for a great camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still pricey for beginner Bought this for filming my kids football and as a hobbyist canon user this Sony RX 10 IV is the best easy to use bridge camera I’ve had works as good as a dslr without all the faffing about fantastic focusing ideal for sports and wildlife easy to use and explained well on the camera to use it to be honest it’s too good for me as an amateur but if your interested in progressing in photography this is the first camera you need Sony obviously know it’s a great camera that’s why still expensive sell your old dslrs and buy this you won’t be disappointed it feels just like a dslr not too big and not too heavy have a look on YouTube to see how great it is , still a lot of snobbery when it comes to bridge cameras I’m glad I bought this instead of the Sony A7III

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bridge Camera I had an RX10M2 and I loved it. I basically just wore it out. I was hesitant to purchase the RX10M4 since it was first manufactured in 2016, and I was afraid Sony would release the RX10M5 soon after I bought the 4. I finally bought the 4 and absolutely love it. I’m not sure Sony will ever release the 5, so in the meantime I’m very much enjoying the 4. Such a great camera for travel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great feel! I've had my RX10iv fo a month now and I love it. It's the first proper camera I've owned and after getting to grips with using settings for the first time ever, I love it. The build quality is great; it's sturdy and robust and feels lovely to handle. It's pretty easy to use and transfer your shots to a tablet or pc. I bought mine to take better shots of aircraft and it hasn't disappointed; the photos I'm able to take are far better than any camera I've ever owned. The reviews I read before I bought it were spot on; the Sony Rx10iv is a brilliant choice for anyone thinking of buying a 'bridge' camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Sony RX10 IV it might just blow your mind. Hello, Granddad here. I am also enjoyed photography since I became a Dad. I have owned quit few 35mm SLR and now few digital cameras. I tried bridge cameras in the past and they suffer image quality and poor auto focus. Now that I am 73 years old, I wanted and needed a lighter weight camera due to arthritis in my hands. I tried several other point and shoot but was not happy with them. Sony RX10 IV was my camera of choice after reading the specification and reviews and find it does every thing claim and more. My order from Jessop's was smooth, I have RX10 IV about one month, it is without question the one camera you want with you if it has to do every thing. Sony RX10 IV is so good, so much fun to use that it is addicting, once I picked it up, I could not stop shooting with it for weeks, there is not anything it does not seem to do well, all with out ever having to change a lens. RX10 IV is excellent camera with an extraordinary 24~600mm equivalent zoom lens It is sharp and focuses super-fast all focal lengths with image sensors and a superb ultra sharp Zeiss lens. Quality does not come cheap, and it has fantastic viewfinder. Video is superb and even has a Slo-Mo options that allow you wait to trigger you recording until after your action happens. I got Sony VCT-VPR1 Tripod to work with my new Sony RX10 IV, at my age I find my self needing a tripod more often than I used to. This tripod is ideal, it works with the RX10 IV for video and still and great help for my shaky hands. I find the oil fluid head to be smooth, this tripod work great with my Sony RX10 IV and remote work flawlessly with it. Every function work and I love the remote switch when power zooming because this is the only remote that can fully utilized the variable servo speed of the lens. My RX10 IV shoots instantly fast enough even for drive by shooting and my pictures look fantastic, This is what a camera is supposed to be. I can not help but love this RX10 IV to death.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleased I bought it Sony only wants comments about the camera and not about their customer service. This is a good camera as long as you can deal with the difficult menu structure. I am used to Sony, but the help manual (online) is still poor. Trial and error and Google seem the best way to figure out some of its intricacies. It focuses very easily and is great for action photos. I was also pleasantly surprised by its closeup capacity. The Zeiss lens is very sharp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera. Very happy I am a casual photographer who has upgraded from taking pictures on my phone so a lot of the functionality on this camera is - at the moment - beyond me. However, I'm sure that I will get there over time. The picture quality I am already getting just from the auto function is superb. My only slight issue is that - while the on-line help manual is comprehensive - it is probably designed for the more practised or professional photographer. Understandable given the functionality and price. More on how to achieve certain shots would be useful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, but noisy I have owned the RX10M4 for about a year and a half now. 40,000 shots later, I love it but have found when cropping images, the noise is oppressive. The 1" sensor is far better than their smaller sensor line-ups, but be aware that even in relatively bright lighting situations, images are truly noisy. I do love the zoom, I do love the speed of the focus and tracking ability, but even moderate cropping results in unacceptable levels of noise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all in one camera I bought this camera more than 4 years ago. I hesitated - it was not cheap, but I am glad that I did end up getting it. It's like an Olympic decathlete - good at a lot of things. It's good for wildlife photography. It's fast enough for high-level sports. Its image quality is good enough for many portrait and landscape photographers. If I could have only one camera, it would be this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera for hiking and birding. This is my second purchase of this camera. I'm a birder, so I often hike for miles and try to take pictures of far-away, small, quick-moving things. This camera's zoom takes care of this pretty well, and it's compactness allows me to carry it on all my trips with very little worry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bridge Camera for wildlife So many options/settings/buttons, but bought a book to help me along, and starting to grips with it. But still lots to learn. I didn't want to carry around loads of lenses, and mostly used to compact cameras and my mobile. But I wanted to be able to zoom in a reasonable amount without needing a tripod, and this is a great alternative.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A big step up from the RX10iii Having bought the iii near the top end of it's price bracket, I felt the improvements in the iv justified the additional cost of it and so far I haven't been disappointed! First up the sensor would appear to be different and improved - a number of non photogs have commented on the overall appearance of images taken being much better. Low light capabilities are quite incredible (see images, straight out of camera unedited). Next the AF system is worlds apart from the iii, very fast and accurate though not used Tracking AF yet. The phase detect system really is superb. Finally, the addition of the 'My Menu' feature where you can allocate up to 30 menu functions (as opposed to the limited number on the Fn button) - brilliant as it makes it so easy to change all manner of settings without scrolling the copious amount of menus that the iv is blessed with. All in all, an excellent all round camera and saves lugging loads of lenses around!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all rounder - brilliant lens! Bought for my wife who is an experienced amateur nightscape photographer. She was looking for a lightweight, optically excellent camera with top notch (4k) video capability for daytime landscape photography as her ageing Nikon D750s, whilst excellent at night, were now showing their age in daylight. The RX10 iv has lived up to its excellent reviews in all respects and is proving a great buy with its 1st rate lens (no more lens swaps during a shoot) and video capability. The ability to handhold at 600mm due its lightness is a revelation after normal dslr lenses. The only gripes my wife has are the lack of a built in intervalometer and that the touchscreen panel can’t be used to access the menus....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing camera! I've had this camera for around a month or two now, and had very few issues. Here are some of the pros and cons of this camera. Pros: -Amazingly fast auto-focus sensor in good lighting situations -Touchscreen focus allows for quick shake-free focus when shooting video -High quality f/2.4-4.0 lens with incredible zoom -Auto-stabilization technology allows for still hand-held video even when fully zoomed 600mm -Shoots XAVC 4K video up to 30fps and standard 1080p up to 960FPS! -Has a panoramic mode build into the camera -High-Continuous shooting mode shoots 24 images per second -Has aperture dial with a click and smooth turn mode -Two custom buttons on the camera along with a favorites menu -WiFi connection is easy, fast, and the app allows you to access many features that the camera has -Much more! Cons: -Auto focus is inconsistent in low-light situations -No touchscreen accessibility in the menu of the camera -Lens does not have a built-in ND filter -Only shoots 30 minutes of video at a time (due to a video camera tax set in Europe) -Screen does not have a multi-directional tilt, only folds out up or down -Heavy camera, can cause some neck strain if used for a long period of time With that being said, this is absolutely the best all-around camera i've ever used. It's good for just about anything you would need it for, especially sports photography. For the $300 more it is from the RX10 M3, it's worth it. The auto-focus is extraordinarily fast for nearly every situation i'm in and has very fast reaction. If you're looking for a camera that can get you a great result for multiple different video/photo gigs, this is probably the camera for you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fantastic piece of kit for beginners & pros I've always had an interest in photography but never had a really decent camera. I recently decided that, that should change. I did loads of research for a do it all camera, so I could weigh up the pros & cons, between that & a DSLR. This brought me to the slightly aging RX10 IV. I read loads of reviews from professional photographers & watched loads of videos too. It seemed that the RX10 IV, was just what I was looking for. Many proclaiming it to be the only camera you'll ever need, a true Jack of all trades. I went into town, after seeing online was full of grey imports & my local camera shop had a UK model in stock. Fortunately for me, there was a discount promo on this very camera, so it was cheaper than an online grey import. I bought it & spent the money I'd saved on a carry case, a memory card, some ND filters, a CP filter & a tripod. I've not used the camera to its full, as of yet but from the shots I've taken, I'm blown away at how good it is. It was a pretty easy learning curve, getting to grips with it. Loads of pros have their settings they use for certain types of photography, so I've used some of those, which really helped me understand how, where & why to change the factory default settings. I'm now looking forward to many years of perfecting the art of photography with a camera that will allow me to achieve this. The build quality of this camera looks like it will last a lifetime, so here's to many years of photography to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RX10 IV This camera has it all, you can go fully manual from aperture settings to manual focus or you can go fully point and shoot or any combination in between. The lens is great and it zooming out to its last position is brilliant add that to the super fast auto focus and I can get the shot before the subject (wildlife) knows I’m there. The quality of the photos is far superior to my last camera (Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX400V ) and that was a good camera. I like the fact that it has a touch screen and the clever idea of setting the tripod thread to the back of the camera to counter balance that big lens. I have to say I really cant fault this camera if I had any negatives I would be I’d have liked a fully articulated rear screen and a fill on “B” stop function but they are minor things when you get so much more for your money (which is not that inconsiderable) But hey you get what you pay for and here you get a great bridge camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jack of all trades camera I've used this camera for just over a year now. I think this is probably one of the most versatile cameras on the market. I've used it for action shots, nature photography, portraits, landscapes, online selling and so on. It's good at a lot of things, but it's not brilliant at anything. Since I wanted a single camera that would be passable in any role, this is exactly what I wanted. In particular it offers a lot of bang for the buck for amateur nature photography. I've taken some shots I'm pretty happy with. The 200mm (600mm equivalent due to sensor size) lens gives you a bit of distance to play with, altough I find to get good shots you still need to get quite close. I've found it to be fairly hardy in the great outdoors, although I do avoid letting it get soaked or using it in sand-storms. Nonetheless freezing temperatures, general beach-use with a bit of blown sand and some fog and drizzle don't seem to have hurt it at all. I chose this camera knowing I'd do some nature photography because I didn't want to spend thousands assembling a DSLR and lens combo that I couldn't carry in the field anyway due to the weight. That said, this camera is still not light at around 1.2kg. I find my back hurting if I carry it on hikes in a shoulder bag. I've modded my camera bag with a three-point sling thing that puts some of the weight on my hips, but for long hikes I've taken to carrying it in a backpack. The low-light performance is far better than the cheaper Fuji bridge camera I used for years, but I'd still describe it as so-so from what I understand higher end cameras are capable of. At dusk you're up to max ISO 12800 if you want to shoot free-hand. In certain circumstances you can work around this to still get usable shots. When taking shots at my nephews indoor and dimly lighted wedding, I found the high ISO shots looked really good converted to black and white. The noise would make them unusable in full colour though. If you can use a tripod and aren't shooting fast moving objects, the low light situation changes dramatically of course. If you want a do-anything camera I'd heartily recommend this. If you want stellar performance at something specific, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features, superb quality photos I bought this camera to take on a 3 week adventure to Costa Rica (where there is an abundance of birdlife/wildlife to photograph) and having carried kilos of cameras and lenses on my back in the past, this will work well for me in the heat and humidity, (it weighs only 0.7kg and I don't have to change any lenses therefore eliminating the risk of getting dust/humidity on the sensor, as I have expereinced before) and as this RX10 IV has a 24-600mm zoom built in, 4K movie ability, 20.1 MP and 315 autofocus points, etc it meets my needs for mainly my worldwide wildlife photography. I had waited for all of 2020 to see if the RX10 V version was going to be released but there is no sight of it on its way, so I went ahead and bought the RX10 IV version and so far am really pleased with it. Taking wildlife photos around the world is a passion of mine and I believe this camera will be ideal for me on my many adventures and I intend to use this camera on safari to Kenya next year and believe this camera will be perfect for my future trips. My only bug bear is that Sony don't make it easy to explain all the features and have had to watch several Youtube videos and also download my own user guide (I'd recommend Ken Rockwell as he explains everything so well with supporting photos and description in his users guide). Sony really does a great job of hiding useful information about using this camera! However, I would say this RX10 IV is value for money, is versatile to many situations and makes a great travel camera without the need for big backpacks of camera equipment. I have practised using the Sony RX10 IV camera locally and am pleased with the quality of the photos so far, including taking photos in the day and at night. I'm also taking RAW pictures as I am learning to tweak the photos in Photoshop/Lightroom but am still on the learning curve with this. The quality of the photos I have taken so far has been impressive but am still learning all the features the camera has to offer, such as memory recall. Of course I've bought additional Sony batteries and charger, a mobile charger, 1TB portable SSD hard drive, a number of Sandisk Extreme Pro SDXC disks, as this is a requirement if I'm out on all-day trips, as I don't want to get caught out with a dead battery or not enough storage space for photos in the middle of a jungle or on safari.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Astounded at image quality I wanted a 'super-zoom' camera with good enough quality to supplement some fairly high-end Micro-four-thirds gear. It took me a long time to conclude that the RX10 IV was the best choice for me... and I am so glad I made that decision. The image quality is even better than I expected; the usability (coming from Panasonic) has a steep learning curve, but that's good for my retired brain!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far I can’t fault this camera I have now had the camera for 3 weeks and have had the opportunity to test it in a variety of conditions and a variety of subjects. It really is a superb all rounder. It has behaved impeccably and the focus really is rather special, it is so quick. The make up of the camera does mean it’s quite big and heavy by comparison to other mirrorless offerings with changeable lenses but I think it’s a small price to pay for always having a zoom lens with me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent camera Excellent camera. Bought to replace another bridge camera. Real breakthrough in photo quality. Rated 5 out of 5 by from amazing camera although expensive and quite big I got it two weeks ago, so I'm still learning it. So far I'm very satisfied with it's features, picture quality, focus speed, large zoom. There are so many menu options, but I'm getting used to it and find it quite manageable. One issue that disturb me is the "running on NTSC" start up screen each time I activate the camera (it's a Pal region version), without a way to cancel it from the menu.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great example of a bridge camera. I have now had this for a year and a half. It is quick to use, simple to operate and takes good photos. The video capabilities are superb. It does not have the super zoom of some of it's competitors, 600mm max. but does a fair job. All in all it's a good camera.

My only reservations at the moment are the need to connect to my phone for locatio data and the clunky, basic nature of that software interface between camera and phone, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant bridge camera I bought this camera a month ago, and to be honest, I struggled with the use of the online help guide, and all of the various menu options, some of which are fairly well hidden beneath layers of other options. Definitely not very intuitive.. I’m very used to Canon and Panasonic which are much easier to navigate around.. having said all this now that I’ve had a one-to-one tutorial with a professional photographer. I’m starting to get to grips with it but I do feel it’s going to be a long way time before I’m completely comfortable with it. The photos I’ve had taken are stunning

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Photos Purchased about a month ago and was originally disappointed with the images. Since then I have taken over 700 photos and now that I have found my way around the settings menu I am getting sharp photos more to my liking. I rarely shoot video and am happy with my test recordings. Likes Image quality. Zoom. Display panel. Exposure compensation dial. Aperture ring. Online manual. Dislikes. Price. Complicated settings Menu. Position of the Movie button especially when using the viewfinder. Unable to display the histogram and level indicator together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lot in a fairly small package I am a casual amateur user who wanted a quality single lens zoom camera to replace my aging X-S1. Like the X-S1 at the time, the RX10 seemed the obvious choice. I am after taking quick memories and getting on with the walk, visit or whatever, not artistic masterpieces. My subject matter is varied. I have now owned it for over 2 years. For what it does it is very compact: I did not have to buy a bigger camera bag. There’s no point in having a camera that is back in the car or still in its case so it spends a lot of time hung across my shoulder or around my neck. I protect the lens with an additional filter, no lens cap used. It appears pretty robust. I have been amazed by the quality of some of the shots I have taken, although I have created more duff ones then with my previous camera: mainly focus. I find 10Mb resolution perfectly adequate. The user interface/menu system is a 1 or 2/10 job particularly if used casually. Finding things you know are there is not intuitive, I have been put off exploring much by this as it is doubly frustrating knowing something is there but not being able to find it quickly. With my level of use I find it hard enough trying to find what I have placed on the programmable buttons. Under normal conditions the composition is set using the eyepiece making the touch screen a potential liability as it is possible to touch it before it disables. I find the AUTO setting is of dubious use as it removes control of what the user focuses on, this is particularly frustrating when trying to take a quick snapshot. It seems to prioritise peripheral objects in the foreground rather than more distant in the center. This can only be fixed by taking multiple shots which causes it to change the focus. There’s little to be gained from taking 0.03s to focus on the wrong object. I assume this could easily be fixed for the casual consumer by allowing more than touch screen control of the focus area in AUTO mode, otherwise the default setting becomes P. The diopter adjustment is actually quite loose and exposed to catching on bag/strap putting the eye piece out of focus. This is inconvenient and was worrying until I realized the reason. I also have the same issue with the exposure compensation dial which is less easy to spot at the time. Slow start up: The camera may focus in way less than a second but I have found it taking around 13s from switching on to being able to take the first shot. This occurs after either replacing the memory card or changing the battery. Not something you want when in the middle of shooting. On one occasion it didn’t start taking photo’s at all, I didn’t notice that it was showing ---- rather than the storage space available usually 9999 with my card. Several hours of no pictures. I don’t like the Sony memory card system. I still review and delete items on my PC, rebuilding the database in the camera when I have done so. I have bought an aftermarket charger and 2 additional batteries. It needs this as all that brain power needs juice and the battery drains when off unlike my previous camera. My daughter has sold her Sony because she doesn’t get on with the Sony menus. I won’t be selling mine but I struggle to recommend it for casual use because of the menu system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent in every respect Superb camera. Normally use full frame Nikon but the RX10iv gives it a good run for its money. OK, if you pixel count it comes up short which is to be expected however the features packed into this camera are really something else. Best autofocus I've ever used and really pleased I don't have to lug a bag of lenses about with me. Certainly recommend this camera, however (there's always one!), any chance of upgrading the battery. Please. Soon as you start to dip into the menu it does get a tad thirsty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb mid-range camera I have decided to move down in camera size and equipment to make my life easier, and after much deliberating and testing, I chose the Sony RX10 IV because of its easy to use system, full focal range Zeis lens from 24 - 600 (35mm eq). So far after 1 week of intensive shooting of many varied subjects, I have really started to get to know this fantastic piece of craftmanship, and already it is rewarding me with some crackin shots. So far I have not been disapointed with the quality of the images and look forward to many years of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Early days but promising so far. I have had the camera 4 weeks now and due to the weather have only been out twice to try it out. So far the results have been very good but not "spectacular". I changed to a bridge camera as I was fed up with the hassle of changing lenses on my DSLR. I had done a lot of on-line research about the various bridge cameras available in my price range and having watched various video reviews & read the reviews in various camera magazines I felt the RX10 IV was my best option. As with all "multi-function" cameras the User Manual is extremely long (yes, I do sit and read them!) and I found it one of the least user friendly I have come across - some of the explanations are very difficult to follow and unless you are a professional photographer difficult to understand there relevance (I am a keen amateur - at best). It could have been because I have changed back to Sony from 25years of using Nikon camera's. I am very pleased with the quality of the photograph's I have taken so far, particularly when at full zoom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lot of features for the money! I am an 81 year old wildlife hobby photographer. I bought this camera a couple of weeks ago to down weight from my Fuji and Canon which were just getting too heavy for me with their large 100-400mm lenses on the front, and quite honestly I am struggling to get high quality, close-up images of the birds I love. Both the Canon and Fuji had spot, and I mean "spot" focussing, this doesn't, it has a small focus "box" so I find it hard to accurately focus on small birds in bushes! If it does have a spot I haven't found it yet! The menu is VAST as it is also sold as a video camera. It also has a touch screen, which so far I have disabled as it kept moving my focus area away from the centre where I want it. I also find the image stabilisation lacking, just doesn't seem to do much at full zoom? I'm only a couple of weeks down the line so hoping to improve as I get used to it. Also, to be fair I am comparing this with high end Canon and Fuji products so maybe not a fair comparison.

After reading all the rage reviews I didnt have a problem buying online and without holding the camera beforehamd. This Mk IV is a monster of a camera. Very heavy and large to hold. There is a huge amout of glass in the large lens, amd the cente of gravity shifts considerably on zooming. Saying that - it is a joy to use. It is certainly premium and only time will tell if it lives up tp the hype..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feature packed and provides excellent results After years of carrying many lenses etc, I moved to a top end (in its day) bridge camera which I used for 10 years. Last year I decided to upgrade, and bought the Sony RX10 IV. It has been a major step change on all fronts. With its large (for a bridge camera) sensor, a superb zoom lens, and the ability to take a photo ranging from fully automatic to fully manual, the experience and results are totally satisfying. It has a lot of features that my previous camera didn’t have, which enticed me to make the change. I have not been disappointed with these features, with everything living up to, or exceeding, my expectations. I accept that some cameras with larger sensors, matched with high quality lenses, are able to produce “better” images, but as I will never print above A3, and the majority are viewed on large screen TVs, then the image quality certainly meets my needs. If I was to be critical, then I would say the menus, whilst very comprehensive, are not the most intuitive. Time does improve this! Also, this is an expensive camera, and I could have easily gone down a different route for this money - but so pleased I didn’t. Ultimately, I see any limitations being myself, not the camera. Overall, an excellent purchase. I will say that although I have (too!) many years experience with still photography, my video experience is very limited. Having said that, this camera does have a comprehensive range of settings for video, and the odd take I have done has come out excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Astonishing lens and results I bought the RX10 IV to replace a Nikon D750 and multiple zoom and wide angle lenses, its was a tough decision as the Nikon is a great DSLR but i never seems to have quite the right lens to hand ad i didn't want to carry them all with me. I was prepared to have to compromise BUT so far i have been astonished at how good the lens and the great results i am getting from zoom, macro and street work. as an all round single lens camera i don't think you can better this camera. Not cheap but you get what you pay for, amazing versatility and brilliant image quality. the image quality versus sensor size is stunning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive camera but... This is a remarkably capable camera. It is also remarkably complicated with mind boggling menus and an on-line manual which reads like a telephone directory written by Marvin the Paranoid Android. I have owned lots of cameras but I have never had one which almost demands that I buy a book on how to use it. It is very expensive which reflects the shrinking market for cameras in the face of the smart phone onslaught. Manufacturers are having to make more profit from drastically reduced sales.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good travel camera I bought this camera for use when travelling when I did not want to take a full DSLR kit. I have found it to be very good for photography in good lighting conditions but somewhat limited when lighting isn't so good. My main passion is wildlife photography which often requires shutter speeds above 1/500th second and this is where the camera fails. Often to obtain the the desired fast shutter speed the ISO has to be raised significantly and this is where the 1" sensor shows it's weakness. I have found that anything over an ISO rating of 1600 is far too grainy to be of any use, so I have set the limit on Auto ISO to 1600. Often even in daylight, if it is overcast, I cannot get a shutter speed much above 1/500th second at 1600 ISO. On the very positive side it gives me a very versatile compact camera package which I can throw over my shoulder and take anywhere. When lighting is good or when using a tripod for slower shutter speeds the picture quality is excellent. I really like the HFR features especially the end shutter function which can make it much easier to obtain the required shot. As I normally use back button focusing on my DSLR's it would have been nice to have a dedicated larger button on the back of the camera for this purpose. Maybe this is something that Sony could consider for the MK5 version. All in all, I would say that this is a very competent bridge camera, probably the best available at this time of writing and is ideal for travelling or as an all in one package. Just do not expect it to out perform a quality DSLR.

Iv not had the camera many weeks but my first thoughts and results are highly impressive, if been using a Nikon 750 with a multitude of lenses and find the sony much easy to take out and about, the results are impressive to say the least. Have used it about 6 times on holiday and it has stopped working, saying incompatible battery, which it isn’t. Can’t take any more photos or review any I have taken on holiday, which was the purpose of spending so much on this heap of junk! Luckily I brought my old Panasonic LUMIX which I have used for 5 years with no issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent bridge camera. I bought this camera as I didn't want to go down the " big bag of bits " route. I prefer one camera to do it all, I know this isn't always the case but the Sony dsc rx10 mk4 is as close as you'll get at the moment. It has good close up capability, a reasonable zoom and fast focusing for moving shots. Here are some recent pictures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Travel camera so far! Had my RX10iv since Nov 2018, its been all over the world with me, and never let me down. I love taking wildlife photos and the lens and speed of this camera really are amazing, but it also takes great landscape shots and family portraits. A wonderful piece of kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect camera for my needs My hobby is butterfly photography and since 2014 I have been using the Nikon P600 bridge camera with its very long lens that I found very useful. But it was very hit and miss to obtain perfect sharpness, even with a tripod, so I elected to go down the DSLR route. Then I discovered this ultimate bridge camera, with so many brilliant positive reviews claiming it matched DSLRs for sharpness. So I took the risk of staying with the convenience of a bridge camera. I am so glad I did! The one inch sensor makes all the difference. The 600mm zoom lacks the reach of the Nikon but in everything there is always a compromise. It took me a while to set up the camera to my liking but was well worth the persistence. You can save various settings for different needs. The anti vibration is amazing, I no longer have to carry a tripod around with me. Image quality is superb, I hardly ever need to correct them afterwards. Auto focus, especially the subject tracking I use for butterflies, is phenomenal. I love the fact that the aperture ring is just that - an actual ring on the lens, just like the 35mm days! For me, this camera ticks ALL the boxes. Superb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built with great featires Had this a couple of weeks now It is so good that I have got rid if all my heavy gear and lenses. Superb auto focus and zoom range and a host of other features. The only disappointment is that it doesn't come with a separate battery charger at tat price it should not be an expensive extra. Sony should know that anyone with this type of equipment will want multiple batteries, and want to charge them out of the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely pics but took a while to master Bought this camera about a month ago. Struggled with default focus options to start with. Touch screen tends to move focus point when you accidentally touch it with your nose. Tend to now use it on 'S' option with small point focus as do a lot of bird photography. Kept digital zoom off as once you go into digital zoom focus reverts to a wider focus and small objects come out blurry. Did put a filter on at one point but this tended to affect the focus badly. On the whole, once the above sorted out it takes great photos - good colour and quite sharp. Disappointed with PDF manual and camera menus - need to be better sorted out. Bought Alexander White's book which explains things far more clearly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features such as quick zoom We replaced two an HX60 and an HX90 with this and have not been disappointed. The only downside we have noticed so far is the recognition of the where you took the photos -having to marry up a smart phone to provide the info! No doubt this will be addressed in the update.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bring just one camera on vacation I recently bought this camera. I have a Sony A7RII with various lenses, including a FE 24-240 mm zoom lens. When I am on holiday, I need to bring a number of lenses. This is cumbersome. With my new RX10 IV, I can travel light with one camera which can handle all the shooting situations I want.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very near perfect lightweight "Bridge" camera. Only had the camera for a short while but very impressed with the performance overall. Super fast focus speed. Image quality for a 1 inch sensor very good. I am now of older years and find my DSLR kit is too much for me now for my wildlife photography, so I opted for the Sony after doing lots of research. With an excellent lens in all ranges I can now capture fast moving things even smaller birds in flight. The only thing I would like to see is an even longer zoom range 600mm is fine but I would like it slightly longer if at all possible. The only other thing was the price "ouch" but I suppose if you want near perfection you have to pay for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shouldn’t have sold my original RX10IV After a spell using the Sony RX100M7 (another stonking camera from Sony) which I have moved on. I’ve gone back and bought another new RX10IV again as the reach and ergonomics of the RX100 didn’t work for me. I’ve also previously had Sony A7R bodies and lenses but the RX10IV replaces all of that kit and carrying… Did I forget to mention the amazing ZEISS 24-600mm equivalent Lens! Also features shared from the Sony A9 SLR range such as 315 phase detection - this camera is a beast for birding with continuous Autofocus at 24 FPS. Some folks feel that because it is a 1” sensor it is inferior - yes perhaps in very low light - but I’m done with humping Long White lenses for my older Interchangeable lens bodies - The best all in one solution by far IMO as it covers what the RX100m7 did as well! It would take another post to get into the phenomenal Video capabilities this camera possesses - maybe another day..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Bridge Camera Ever. Having used the Sony RX10 Mk3 I was disappointed in the speed of the focusing. Now having upgraded to the Sony RX10 Mk4 this no longer disappoints and in my opinion it is the best bridge camera available. Focusing, lens sharpness and range, plus general camera ergonomics set this camera above all of its competitors. It may be a little expensive but it is worth the extra.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful bridge camera that behaves like a dslr This camera does everything I want it to do. Having come from canons full frame pro cameras I wasn’t sure what to expect but despite difference in sensor size this would give the canon a run for its money in many respects. Once you get the hang of the menus to set it up just get in with shooting some great photo I just love the super zoom and it’s quality. Very happy photographer. As is my husband who borrows it for sports photography.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seriously Good I bought this 6 months ago as I was going on a trip and didn’t want to take a load of lenses for my DSLR. Read loads about bridge cams and this came out on top, easy now to see why. It’s simply brilliant, easy to use, can shoot close Up and oh that zoom!! Auto modes, there are two one kinda hdr, are really intuitive. I’m no pro, a good enthusiastic amateur but, it’s now my walkabout cam - pic quality is really, really good. If you mainly shoot your family and friends, want to pick up and shoot but still want to take your time to plan and shoot every now and then, this is it, best out there in my view.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, very fast To be honest this review is only a first impression, which is very good. 1. I did have to lower the speed of continuous shooting as 24 frames per second is amazingly fast and found myself doing a lot of deleting. 2. I print and frame a4 and have printed one photo it was perfect easily as good as my eos 7d mk2. 3. It is incredibly versatile with the 24-600mm lens, landscape or wildlife it handles them with ease 4. The auto focus has worked really well tracking birds in flight. So far so good. I will give a more in depth review in about six months as I've only just touched the surface of what this camera can do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic camera Not had this camera long and I am still getting to grips with its many features but from what I have seen this is an excellent camera. It is certainly not cheap and therefore it is not an easy decision to make as there is always the doubt that you wont take full advantage of the camera and a cheaper alternative may have been better but so far I am not regretting my purchase. Given how much it can do I would advise either a reference manual and/or lots of Youtube videos as these will certainly help. But so far I am delighted with it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not disappointed On the whole extremely pleased with the camera having been recommended it by a friend. The lens is superb and very rapid to achieve point of focus. Many features and the ability to programme buttons is great. A couple of issue which are annoying. Firstly why have a touch screen which you can only use for focussing? Many cameras now have a full touch screen allowing access to the menus. Secondly having an in camera battery charger is a nuisance, it would have been much better to have had an out of camera charger allowing charging of a spare battery whilst using a spare one Becuase of these niggles only 4 and not 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top of its game I've owned the fabulous RX10 III for 3-4 years so now was the perfect time to move up to the ultimate Sony RX10 IV. I have no need to go through all the wonderful features. The fact I owned the previous version for 4 years and loved it says a lot. The fact I bought the new one says it ALL. It's a terrific camera, never gives any issues and takes professional high quality pictures that I always use in my magazine. If you like taking sport/wildlife shots then I recommend also getting an extreme pro 300mbs chip as this camera is very campable of using that super high speed for best results when shooting 14 frames a second. The Movie quality is incredible. I love taking movies on 25 zoom, say a couple walking on a cliff top, then slowly pulling out to show the whole cliff, boats, birds and two small people. The RX10 IV does this faultlessly with no shake and hand held. It's so flexible. Close ups of insects are easy, even close ups of ants. I take them from 5 meters away and they are perfect and so quick to do. You certainly won't go wrong with this incredibly versatile camera, it's my favouite.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extraordinary results I have now had this great little camera about 6 weeks and I am overwhelmed with the results. I have downsized from a heavy but comprehensive DSLR system. I took one of my first pictures of a friends hawk and 600mm handheld at 400th gave me pin sharp whiskers on his face you can barely see with the naked eye. The owner of the bird promptly went out and got the same camera. It doesn't disappoint on anything I have used it for . I have purchased a 3rd party guide as the Sony menus are very random and anything but intuitive but the camera is wonderful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great piece of equipment Still getting to grips with it, but very clever technology and great pictures. The manual that comes with it is absolutely hopeless, however. Also, although the technology is amazing, it falls short in a couple of areas: the most obvious is not having touch screen access to functions and the menu in particular. Also some of the functions assignable to a custom button may be better to be labelled directly to a button.

Started looking at alternatives and decided on the Sony rx10 Mark 4. I have been very surprised by the quality and ease of use of the camera. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very technical but very good I read lots of reviews on this camera before purchasing about one month ago. There is a very simple way to use this camera or, like me, you can explore the many capabilities this camera has to offer. So far I have not been disappointed and as I learn and experiment with the numerous menu options I find how I can easily set the camera up to do what I want to do and it responds. I purchased a detailed text book on the RX10M4 and that has helped enormously as I dive deeper into its possibilities. It is ideal for me to take whilst walking or cycling around or even out for a drive in the car and its capabilities are now easily to hand. Photo quality is good, even at high ISO settings and the video is superb. I use it for wildlife photography mainly and I am amazed at how quickly it focuses on the subject. Took a bit of menu searching to set it up how I wanted and this is still ongoing but I am very pleased with the RX10M4.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Technically great, but has some usability issues I bought this as an upgrade from a Lumix FZ1000. The key features that appealed were the fast PD autofocus, much larger buffer and maximum continuous shooting rate, 600mm equivalent focal length (compared with 400mm on the FZ1000), and the fact that it claims to be at least somewhat weatherproofed. The FZ1000 manual focus is very poor, and I also wanted something that worked better there. And I thought separate rings for zoom, focus and aperture would be an improvement on the FZ1000, which has one ring for zoom OR focus, and a rather awkward rear wheel to adjust both shutter speed and aperture. In use, the optics do seem to be substantially better, even at 400mm equivalent, and I am getting shots of distant birds that seem to be equivalent to what others are getting with (true) 400mm lenses on cameras with APS/C sensors. The manual focus is much better, so I can focus on birds surrounded by vegetation, for example. So that has been very successful. Overall, clearly a better camera, great for travel, and a worthy competitor to a full DSLR/ILC Against that, I have yet to see the full benefits of the PD autofocus, and for most purposes it does not seem to be much faster than the FZ1000 in an equivalent mode, using DFD technology. Sometimes, even with the zoom range limited to greater than 3 metres, it takes seconds to focus on a distant object and seems to prefer minimum focal distance when it isn't sure, instead of infinity. I tend to use the EVF rather than the screen, and have found I need to turn off all the touchscreen features in order not to make some horrible change just as I am about to press the shutter. The RX10iv also lacks several usability features I really appreciate on the FZ1000. - Focus priority -- If selected on the FZ1000, the shutter won't release until focus is acquired. - Zoom resume: the FZ1000 returns to the current zoom setting on switch-on or after reviewing pictures. Handy if you are walking around at full zoom hoping something interesting will pop up in front of you. - Selective photo delete: FZ1000 lets you select multiple photos for deletion and then do them all in one go (although, it would be even better if you could delete a range rather than selecting up to 100 individually) - Selective photo export: FZ1000 lets you export one or up to 100 selected photos, either as just the JPG or JPG+RAW. The RX10 exports all or nothing. - Faster WiFi. The RX10 WiFI photo export is painfully slow compared to the FZ1000. - The FZ1000's dedicated "quick menu" button. - The FZ1000 still has a more structured and pictorial menu system. Why does "Setup 2" seem to be entitled "Movies" when most of it is again about Still photography? Ah, but that's only the title of *that* screen. - The fully-articulated screen And of course, the RX10 is quite a lot heavier, but that is presumably all down to the larger optics required still to get f/4 at 220mm (true) focal length, so it's hard to complain about the weight. I suppose the test is, Is there ever a time when I would now reach for the FZ1000 instead of the RX10?, and there isn't. But it seems like Sony have missed an opportunity with regards to the user experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A superb replacement for my DSLR's I bought the Sony RX10 when it 1st came out about 10 years ago and have been pleased with it. It's my go to camera, despite owning 2 top range DSLR's. But the weight of a DSLR & the fiddling round with lenses just became off putting. So I sold them and upgraded to te Sony RX10 iv. Keeping my RX10 of course. I'm so happy with my upgrade, the 600mm zoom lens is superb, the camera is fast too, fits happily in the hand & feels sturdy. I now have a new go to camera suitable for all of my photographic needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Dog of Bridge Cameras Using my A7riii, a really top quality camera with GM Lenses, again top notch, I was finding that as I am getting older, the equipment I carried around was getting too heavy. For special occasions and when I need ultra wide lens, I still use the A7, however, carrying a camera during the day was becoming too much. I needed something that would give me high quality results, be easy to use and lightweight. I looked around at what the market offered and decided on The RX10iv. I was impressed In the showroom and astounded in real life. Pin sharp, familiar controls and a Huge lens range really do combine to give me great satisfaction. Yes, I was being snobby, thinking going backwards to a bridge camera was a retrograde step. Heath and wellbeing, and still wanting to carry a camera whenever I went out, dictated I needed to make a change. I took the chance, and wished I had done it a couple of years back. I am over the moon with this camera and, highly recommend it to anyone who doesn’t want to carry camera(s) and Lenses around all day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great zoom I bought the rx10m4 as a travel camera and I am happy with the zoom and the vast amount of different settings. Especially the fast autofocus is stunning. My first, and main, point of criticism is the pure documentation. I had to buy a book in order to figure out the capabilities of the camera. My second point is that the touchscreen is not used for camera settings but only for focus area shifting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I have owned For a wildlife shooter and at times a sports shooter I have not found a camera that has given me the ability to stop a bird in flight. To freeze a surfer on a maneuver that would make you feel that this has one big wow. I have focused on a insect and a jet flying. It gives me surprise after surprise. I have found my camera and after all this time my limits have taken off. I have never entered a Photography contest. It was just for fun. It became more than fun when I am awarded a Judges pick and a First Place. Thank you Sony for the equiptment, And thank you to my wife and son who both said they were proud of their husband and Dad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great all in one camera. I bought this as a replacement for the mk3 version and it is a great camera. It comes packed with some great features, the ability to take still images from video I find is great when filming wildlife, and birds in flight, and when the weather gets better I plan on doing video macro with bees and dragonfly's etc and taking still images from them. The optical zoom on the camera is great when used with the image size reduction feature takes you from 24mm to 1200mm and still have enough resolution to print an image. And you still have clear image zoom which is good quality and takes you to 2400mm. I only use Digital zoom as a telescope for checking out long distance subjects. I take images of Macro/Landscape/Buildings/All types of wildlife and this camera does it all. The new Phase detection auto focus on this camera is great, it just locks on and in high speed continuous shooting it is awesome. Prior to owning my first Sony rx10 mk3 I had a Canon 7D with half a dozen lenses the biggest being a Tamron 150-600mm and now I have the Sony rx10 mk4 I have all my old kit in one camera with one lens with a awesome auto focus and shooting speed. Don't get me wrong I have had to adapt to having a smaller sensor and a large crop factor but has with all cameras including the 7D if you use the camera within its capabilities it will take great pictures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera Bought this camera about 8 weeks ago and took it to The Gambia on a birdwatching trip. Took 9600 photos and most of them are just awesome. This camera has allowed me to photos I couldn't have dreamed of as an amateur photographer. Its auto focus and tracking are fantastic. thank you Sony.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has almost everything I want Only a week old, really surprised how good the lens is, really sharp throughout the zoom range. The menu is exceptionally easy, especially in respect of assigning functions to the custom buttons. My only niggle is that there does not seem to be an option to assign a custom button to the focus mode.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing all round camera I bought a secondhand RX10 MkIII a month ago as I wasn't sure I wanted to commit the money required for the MKIV. Well I was so impressed by the MKIII I sold it and bough the MKIV. These are great cameras and because it has such a long zoom with a very good image stabilization the results are amazing. It is a complicated beast but that means it has so many options you can tweak with. I get great really good quality sharp images looking at them on a 21" monitor (thats bigger than A3) that you would not believe possible from a 1" sensor. I have had full frame in the past which meant I rarely carried a heavy bulky and very expensive system around with me so then changed to the Fuji system to reduce the size and weight which was good. However I couldn't tell the difference between shots taken with the Fuji camera and these Sony cameras so the Fuji system went and I now only have the Sony RX10 MKIV which focuses better and quicker that the Fuji ever did. OK the Sony is not perfect but for me it is as close as I can get at the moment. It really is a fun camera to use and I take it with me more than any other camera I have owned. I love it. Well done Sony.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feature packed bridge camera I bought this camera after much deliberation as it's a substantial investment but it should fulfill just about all of my requirements. The main reason for the purchase was to achieve good quality photography and video when travelling abroad without the need to carry lots of lenses. I've only had it a couple of weeks but already taken some stunning shots of wildlife. The only way this camera would have been better for me is to have a screen that flips around for ease of composing self-taken shots and perhaps having a smile shutter release function (which is only in the Face Recognition mode) that does not have to focus on the face itself. This is important when on your own and you want it to focus on something you are holding and not on your face. However the fact that it has a socket to take an air release does mean you can easily take self-taken shots without having to use the timer and then rush into position. Lots to learn yet!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent but not outstanding… Focus and image quality in telephoto mode poor. However, Portraits of individuals outstanding. Like simplicity of one lens but compromise is long distant shots and that’s where my previous Lumix G9 outperforms this good camera. Finally, far too expensive compared to Nikon equivalent. Wouldn’t rush out and buy another Sony Bridge camera. Disappointing overall hence only 3 stars

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RX10IV with 0.03s AF/25x optical zoom This is an expensive camera, however you always pay for quality and this camera is all quality. As an amateur photographer I wanted a camera that could for fill my aspirations, the RX10 IV meets and surpasses all my expectations. I have one criticism which relate to the manual. If you are going to buy this camera invest in the "Guide to the Sony DSC-RX10 IV" because the published manual is poor in my opinion. As for the camera, in my opinion it is fantastic and worth the expenditure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all-in-one carry about, with caveats The tiny sensor and tiny, for it's capabilities, lens do have some slight drawback in terms of sensitivity and noise, especially with equivalent apertures of f/7.1~11, but, and it's a huge BUT, this camera is small, light, and provides a real alternative to carrying and chopping and changing between a suite of lenses - I know as I have an a99ii, and a77ii, and numerous Zeiss and Sony lenses - about seven plus a TC. Welcome to the world of extreme crop formats. 2.727x crop compard to full frame 35mm. Small "equivalent" apertures, mean much bigger depth of fields than the numbers on the barrel suggest, for better or for worse. The colours are great. The burst speed is amazing. There's not much here to not like! Probably the only sin so far noticed is the tripod mount. The 1/4" screw hole is way too close to the back of the camera, and almost any plate used will apply pressure on an unsupported plastic ledge. Word of warning - use the tripod mount sparingly and with extreme caution. Other than that, wow, what a great tool, even now, about 8 years since launch, it still has no equal - not even from Sony...!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good camera, but not for macro photography This is a good camera, which delivers superb quality images under most circumstances, but I have major issues with the macro facility. The downloadable Help Guide (which I loathe – I would much rather have a book!) allocates macro shooting only a single line and it’s hardly surprising, because it is apparently entirely auto. As far as I have been able to ascertain, in Macro Mode (which is included as one of the Scene Selection programs) the user is unable to control shutter speed, aperture or focus area. I have been attempting to photograph micro moths in this mode and at least 50% of the time the camera focuses elsewhere than the desired subject, even when that is in the centre of the screen. Granted you can focus manually, but it takes time and too often the moment is gone. I was hoping this would replace my Canon SLR with 100mm macro lens, but it’s a long way off doing that. Having said all that, the attached image of a fly was taken at full telephoto (600mm equiv), at a distance of about 3 metres, hand-held and cropped and it’s not bad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultimate all in one camera I bought this camera about two weeks ago so still in the early days of finding out what it can do, the quick answer to that is, everything! Bought specifically to use on holiday save taking a DSLR with a range of lenses. I’ve tried all the main settings A, S, P and M all are easy to use and with excellent results. The other evening I took some evening/night shots of an illuminated castle with a tripod and tried one shot on Auto without tripod all brilliant. So far can not find a fault or anything that I would like to change. If you are reading this and thinking about buying one, all I can tell you is, I am very happy I bought one with no regrets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed I have owned an RX10 mk3 for two years and have used it extensively for wildlife and nature photography, producing many excellent photographs. However, it suffers from a couple of drawbacks. The zoom has a blind spot where focusing is difficult and focusing on birds in flight is difficult due to a tendency to ‘hunt’. I purchased an RX10 mk4 last month and have just returned from a trip to South Africa. The mk4 still has the same blind spot but focusing on moving objects is now much better due to the use of both phase and contrast detection, although it is not as good as my Canon 7d mk2. One other disappointment, which I have not experienced with the mk3 is that when photographing flowers, yellows can appear ‘washed out’ in bright light when relying on AWB. Overall, I do not feel that the extra cost of the mk4 over the mk3 is justified.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow AWESOME Camera I bought this camera specifically to take to Africa in August 2019. I filled 3 64GB SD cards. I can't say enough about this camera. I have been a Nikon guy since the '70s. I could imagine carrying all those lens and the rest of my camera gear on 7 safaris in Africa. The RX10M4 was recommended to me by a wildlife photographer that I was working with in a workshop. 28mm to 600mm is all he had to stay and weighing just slightly over 4 lbs. My 128 to 600 mm Tamron G2 weighs that much by its self. Limiting the amount of gear I had to lug around not to mention all the shots would have missed was unbearable. Move ahead to Alaska July 2020, Fly fishing out of Sitka, RX in my left hand and fly rod with a salmon in my right, walking backwards attempting to pull the fish in I stepped in a hole and down I went RX and all. Both the camera and I submerged for a good 10 seconds or more fight the current, the salmon and the need to be vertical again I finally righted myself and I still caught the salmon. Now the real test, will my RX survive the dunk test... Yes it did, I didn't miss a shot and 4 months later still working great and no signs of distress what so ever. Great job Sony this camera is a hit and stands up to all of it's specs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very good overall camera I have owned and used this camera for about 1 year now. I have used it on trips to Europe and Egypt/Jordan. I bought it after purchasing an Alpha 6300 and struggling with lens selection with the 6300. I wanted to get away from the lens selection conundrum which the RX10M4 allowed me to do. Eventually sold the 6300 along a couple of lens I had with it. I am very happy with the RX10M4 and have shot only in Manual since I took a photography course last fall that taught me how to do that. I gave it a 4/5 stars for two reasons. They are uses of the camera that I am still struggling with. 1) Using it in low light situations without the flash. It does not seem to handle that well. I know it is a small sensor and they don't handle low light well. I use my iPhone XS Max in HDR and it works great for low light, no flash situations. 2) Using the RX10M4 in portrait pictures. The "bokeh" effect is another use that the camera struggles with, or at least I struggle with using it this way. Again, the iPhone XS Max in portrait mode works great for this application. All I am saying is, it is not a perfect camera but a very good "bridge" camera that negates the need for purchasing additional lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amaazing for wildlife Photography! I bought this after a photography nature workshop with Paul Williams, a wildlife and landscape photographer from Dorset, who uses it as his carry around camera. Having seen Paul's photographs four of his students, including me, have bought the RX10 1V. There are many good features but the one I like most is the 24-600 mm lens which is excellent for zooming in on wildlife without having to heave around a massive lens for my DSLR and the detail in the photographs is excellent. My tip is it is worth buying "Photographer's Guide To The SonyDSC-RX10 IV" by Alexander S. White which explains the features in an easy to understand way in a tutorial style. This bridge camera is not cheap but you do not need to buy a series of lenses as the built in lens will cover everything from macro to landscape to zooming in on wildlife and there is no other camera currently on the market like it.

I have had this camera for a month and to date have taken quite a few pictures making full use of the zoom. It has enabled me to get wildlife pictures that with my other cameras would have been a blur. It was heavier and bulkier than expected but the grip is good and of course the lens is included in the weight and size. The controls feel good to use and has a very solid professional feel. It's so much fun to use and quality of the photos and videos are excellent. Luckily auto mode is truly excellent! using the wifi to transfer pics to the ipad is very handy, wish it could do the 4k vids though. 30 mins video record time seems a rather arbitrary restriction to me. I currently have a Nikon SLR analogue camera, a Canon DSLR with several lenses (one of which incidentally cost more than the RX10 IV) and I am tired lugging all this equipment around. Consequently I am much more likely to take the camera along when travelling. The RX10 IV is amazing with a zoom range that is very impressive, program choices to cover virtually all situations. Looking forward to getting to know and using this camera much more.

The RX10M4 produces good pictures and had the added advantage of being very versatile going from a telephoto shot of a buzzard to a close up of "water boat men" mating. With all my previous outfits I could never achieve such results so quickly often missing a shot. The only slight criticism is the rather difficult menu. Would I recommend the camera, you bet I would.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bye-Bye DSLR & Lenses, Hello Simplicity! My first DSLR was a Canon 10D, so I've been in the world of DSLR's for quite some time! Over the past few years, it was my wife that pointed out the fact, I've not been shooting much. I'm not sure why, life is very busy so that is part of it, but another significant factor was that I have become somewhat fatigued by the idea of dragging out the camera bag and the switching of lenses depending on what shooting situation presented itself. SOOO, after toying with the idea for some time I did it--sold the DSLR and assortment of quality glass and replaced it with what I believe to be the best all-in-one, do everything well camera on the market today. Am I sacrificing in this trade? Sure-- but not much and what I gain, IMO more than makes up for it. I have months before I will feel comfortable with the new controls and the plethora of digital controls found in the menu system. BUT, the basic controls are intuitive enough and accessible enough that a photographer can quickly be taking stellar images with this tool. More than anything I hope this new camera gets me outdoors and exploring more again! This is just my 2 cents...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for Birding I often use a bridge camera for bird photos because they're smaller and lighter than a DSLR with long lens - especially when you're using a 400+ mm setting etc. Previously used the Nikon Coolpix P900, P950 & P1000 etc which have longer zooms but the RX10 Mk iv tends to give better results because of its larger sensor and better auto focusing for birds in flight etc. It's more expensive than the others but worth it in my mind. Plus, very handy and versatile if you're just wanting to take it away for a trip etc as it'll also handle the landscapes & family/group pics as well! Beware of the user manual though - there's lots to learn if you're not already a Sony camera user!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far...So Good!! I've only owned this camera for a couple of weeks, so not fully explored it's full potential. But what I have seen and used, is very encouraging. The camera lacks an English text operation manual, but this can easily be downloaded as a PDF. The camera menu is easily understood and to use. So far, the photographs that I have taken, which do not include moving targets, have been very impressive. Obviously, the 600mm zoom is a real selling point with excellent results. Like any camera, the RX10 IV has it's limitations, but to date, I am very impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unfortunate disappointment I have purchased the RX10IV from one of your resellers in italy. The camera in itself is very well made. It has a professional feeling when hold in hand. Tones of possibilities. The specs are very good and there is no point of explaining the details available on the internet already. I wanted to have a camera without having to change lenses. Obviously i realize there is a prize to pay for such commodity and 1" sensor physical capabilities. Nevertheless, when i have received the box, i had noticed there was a security seal on the top of the Sony's box but at the bottom of it it could have been opened without damaging the top seal and without any problem. That permits anyone to manipulate the product inside without anybody noticing it. What really annoyed me though was the image quality full of grain and noise ( not on high ISO ) but on ISO value 100, shot in 1/800, F 5.6 in bright day. I had looked at the RAW files in Crop 100% ( Full size ) and the blue sky had the same "smoothness" as my Samsung S10 on ISO 800 or higher. Same on other 30 photos controlled. All noisy and mainly blurred. Unfortunately i had to return it to the seller. I am disappointed as i really like the camera overall and have no comparison to another RX10IV camera, in order to test if it was only the one i had received or not. I have read a lot of positive reviews and that is why i had decided to purchase this model. It would be great to have an opportunity to try if i was only unlucky. I still have a few RAW and JPEG samples of which i am talking about if the SONY is interested. I hope it is the case. Best regards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible! I've finally found a 'bridge' camera that gives me the control to create what I can see in my head. Not cheap and the menus are complicated but the actual use is straight forward. Incredible stabilisation allows for hand held at full zoom. I don't use software to edit photos other than snap seed and crop on Instagram. With this camera I really don't need to either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed... I've been envious of other photographer's images for quite some time as I could only afford a Sony HX400V which worked well enough. I was so lucky when an opportunity arose for me to upgrade to the RX10 IV and, although, I'm only just starting out, I am so impressed with the images that I have been able to capture. A bridge camera suits my everyday needs and I'm looking forward to improving my photographic skills with this great bit of Kitchener.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic so far This camera was recommended by someone posting fabulous pictures online, with very little to no post-processing. So far I've done one shoot at a night-time sound and light show with minimal reading of the documentation, so using the automatic settings only, and the results were everything I was expecting. I'm looking forward to understanding more about the manual control features so I can bracket exposures etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent camera packed with features. I have owned this camera for just over a week now and so far I am very inpressed with its performance and features. In particular the lense quality is outstanding, coupled with superb focussing system. It can produce very pleasing photographs. I have yet to explore the video capabilities but judging by the specifications I expect them to shine. I guess at this price point one would expect a quality piece of kit. This does not dissappoint. If one were to ask for negative points the only one I can find so far is the ergonomics of the access to the SD memory slot. I find that the access "door" slightly impedes ones fingers in getting a grip on the SD card. It would be better if the door opened fully back against the body. A very small issue, and I am being quite "picky".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Weight saver - the PERFECT all round travel camera I own both comprehensive Canon & Nikon SLR outfits, but I've found carrying heavy gear over three days at the Goodwood Revival or taking an outfit on safari abroad getting harder as I get older! Hence rather than buy the recently available 500mm f4 lens from Nikon, or continue using my 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 Canon zoom, I decided to buy Sony's RX10 with 24-600mm f4 equivalent range, which appeared to offer everything in one compact package. I've now been using it for about a month, not for what I really bought it for because lock-down has put an end to that - but for photographing a few landscapes, birtds in the garden, flowers, etc. I don't feel I've yet got to grips with it, but the images are fine, I can barely tell the difference in quality from my EOS 7D MkII with 100-400mm zoom attached, which is great. Its the user friendliness which I feel needs addressing. For example, the menu's take a lot of getting to know. They're not awful, just not brilliant, for example, I've created my own custom Menu. Theoretically when I select Menu it should open on it, but it opens on another menu page and I then have to find My Menu. The Menu provides an option to turn off the rear screen. It's something I rarely ever use for composition, I by far prefer using a viewfinder, (an optical viewfinder being something I had to sacrifice in buying a mIrrorless camera). The camera allows for some of the control buttons to be customised, to be used for one of a number of specific purposes. I've selected one particular button to turn the rear screen on and off. Every time I turn the camera on, the rear screen is operative, and I have t turn it off. If I use the Menu, or look at an image, when I come out of the Menu or images, I find the rear screen is operative again, and I again have to turn it off! I just want it to REMAIN off. That shouldn't interfere with me looking at images or accessing the Menu! The other problem I've experienced, is the central focusing point seemingly moving of its own accord from time to time. I ONLY want the central focusing point. Touching the rear screen activates the focal points so I've inadvertedly moved it by touching the screen, I've then had to try and return it to the centre, which means turning the screen on again in order to do so. There doesn't seem to be any other way to move the focusing points around by way of the dials, that I can determine at any rate. On a positive note I've fund that if I use the green mode or P mode whilst the focus point is central, I now have a much wider field of focus points available, so there is at least a variation in the focusing even if all the other settings appear to remain the same as set in A Priority, (the aperture varies, but the frame rate set remains the same for example). So, those are some of the aspects of this camera which have made an impression on me. Criticisms aside, build quality is high, I find no great problem with the speed of the zoom, (would prefer manual, it's what I'm used to), image quality is very good, the zoom range is amazing, and the frame rate with high, medium & slow settings available, quite incredible. I like the dial for exposure compensation too. Will it replace my SLR's for motor-sport and wildlife safaris? Yes, I think so. I perhaps wont be selling them just yet for portraiture, landscapes and specialised macro subjects, although this camera can do all of those admirably, up to a point beyond which you perhaps need a more subject specific lens.

I'm sure that it will take me another couple of months to become familiar with it. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything you need in a camera Bought this camera as a treat yourself retirement gift and have not been disappointed, whatever or however you want to photograph something their is a setting or a program from videoing to photographing wildlife, it will do it all. It may seem expensive at first glance but if you buy a camera body and then buy a 600mm lense that that's what your stuck with unless you start buying other lenses so for me a bridge camera was ideal, no regrets.hours of fun even when you start getting adventures with the settings and making mistakes you still look at the photos laugh and say I cocked that up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect All-In-One Camera I bought this camera in July 2022 for two reasons. I loved the one I saw and tried which belonged to a friend and vowed to get the RX10 when I had the funds. It was the perfect answer for my planned long travel trip to Africa - one camera with its all-in-one 23-600mm lens - 1 small bag, 1 camera - that's it! My previous trip I humped around with a camera back-pack filled with 3 lenses plus accessories. Once I got it, I have to admit to being completely goggle-eyed when I saw how extensive the menus were and how many options there were within each item. The camera does not come with a printed manual so I started watching YouTube videos and from there came across and bought the "Photographer's Guide To The Sony DSC-RX10 IV written by Alexander White. It's brilliant and covers everything very very clearly. His Videos are also good. YouTube is also full of step by step video tutorials clearly indicating that this is a very popular camera. In spite of that there is sooo much to leard, this excellent camera is nevertheless intuitive to use from the start go, and eezee-peezee from the beginning if you start in Auto. The quality of images left me stunned at first try and still delight and surprise me with sharpness and colour which this camera captures whether at 24mm or 600mm. This is a joy of a camera with a body design that is ergonomically a pleasure to hold even when the lens is fully extended. All images posted on here are straight from the camera - no post-processing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fantastic multi purpose camera Having an interest in birdwatching and wildlife in general I was looking to get up close and photograph wildlife often from a distance without having to lug around a camera with interchangeable large, heavy lenses and not wanting to break the bank. this fantastic bridge camera clearly is a great compromise 24-600mm emu zoom lens, Zeiss optics and all the whistle and bells you could ask for in a single unit makes this an ideal camera for those looking for excellent pictures. it's slightly larger and heavier than a DSLR or mirrorless camera, but much lighter than one with a 600mm lens hanging off it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most versatile camera I spent months doing my homework before buying this camera and I have no regrets. One of the main features I wanted it for was the auto focus at long focal lengths. It works very well. It takes a while to learn settings, but worth practising with. Image quality is good considering the sensor size, but the dynamic range at low light is the main thing I would like to see improvement on with the next model if at all possible. It's still very good for what it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good general-purpose camera for travel & wildlife I bought the RX10M4 a month ago as a supplement to my Nikon D7000 SLR and P7100 compact kit. The SLR and longer lenses are a bit too heavy for travel. The sharpness of the RX10M4 lens is amazing - in good light probably better than the D7000 with a good Nikon lens but there is more digital noise at faster ISO settings. The Sony camera's focus is fast and very accurate.I like the full HD/4K/high frame rate movie facilities as well. The high continuous shutter burst rate is great for capturing just the right moment - e.g. a drop of water bouncing off the surface. I have found getting to know the camera a bit more difficult than I expected. There are lots of options available but so many require delving into the menu system - more so than the Nikon. Other slightly negative points are the battery life and 'feel' of some of the switches but I knew that before buying. All cameras have compromises but on balance I am very happy with the RX10M4 and the pictures it can produce.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SONY RX10M4 I'm an amateur wildlife photographer and have owned a SONY RX10M4 since 2017. It's the ideal camera for me and continues to be far superior to any other bridge cameras! I've been waiting for an RX10M5 for the past two years but have heard that Sony is discounting the range and has already ceased production of the RX10M4. I bought the new camera before it's impossible to find one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, so nearly perfect I have been watching this camera for a while now as I am far from an impulsive buyer, but then again, at £1800 it was a purchase that deserved contemplation. As a DSLR user, I was worried about the move to a "bridge" camera, and was looking at the Canon 80D with a 70-200L F4.0 lens. This camera went to 600mm, but the picture quality was bound to be typically "bridge superzoom" soft right? So I deliberated, and deliberated, hours of YouTube reviews and pixel peeping on Flickr and I was still unsure, and then Jessops dropped the price in conjunction with a Sony rebate scheme making the camera around £1230. This is still a hefty sum, but I bit.. and I am happy I finally did! What's good about it?: It really is close to being the only camera you will need. It's not light, but its not 80D+L series lens heavy either, and the weight is indicative of that quality lens. Picture quality is unreal, stills, video, if you get the focus point, the results are truly astounding. Focus, this thing is FAST, I took it to a recent Horse Event and it had little issue in tracking the horses, even full gallop mid air, the tracking was spot on and produced some truly amazing pictures, certainly in a different league to my now retired 400D. I left it on sport mode and let the camera decide the settings, the "keeper rate" was easily 90%+!! Reach, you want reach, any more would get you arrested!! Even at 600mm the focus was amazingly accurate, with lovely bokeh to further pop the picture. Speed, reviews suggested that there was a huge delay on start up, I'm, yet to see it, its not as instant as my old DSLR, but its not overly noticeable either. Features, to be honest, I've not scratched the surface yet, but the great thing is that the much frowned upon "AUTO" mode is so good that you don't NEED to dig into the settings meaning you can shoot great pictures straight out of the box! What's bad about it?: You don't get a charger in the box, you get a cable to charge batteries inside the camera, I don't like this and I think its a bit tight of Sony. Battery life, this was one of my main concerns, reports suggest that a battery will only take around 400 shots before being exhausted. So far this has been about right, I took a 30sec HD video and about 450 pictures between 10.30am to around 3.30pm and the battery dropped to 8%, BUT it's worth noting that I had the camera on all day, so it was in sleep mode or on, so I could have extended this. Overall, battery life could be better, you might need another battery or two, especially if you intend to do a lot of video. Low light.... this is this cameras Achilles heel, IT DOES NOT LIKE LOW LIGHT! I tried to take some horse lesson pictures around dusk, forget it. The autofocus goes into meltdown, if it does manage to lock, the ISO pretty much makes a dot to dot picture its so grainy, anything over ISO 1800 is not for me, this is unfortunate as even my old 400D could take useable pictures at ISO 3600+ Zoom, it's great, but its a little slow compared to the instant twist of a DSLR, it has two settings so you can increase the speed, but it takes some getting used to. You can manually adjust the zoom, BUT its fly by wire so you're still limited by the motor. I didn't have any issues with it, but you have to learn to pre-think action shots. Viewfinder, its electronic, I'm used to it now, but it took some getting used to compared to the DSLR "down the lens" operation. So, would I recommend this camera? It's not that easy, if you're a semi-pro or keen amateur, the allure of DSLR and fear of camera snobbery looking down on your "bridge" may put you off. However, if you just like taking pictures in all but low light, this camera is truly amazing, to the point that I actually wish I'd bought it a long time ago. It's worth the RRP when you compare it to the value of DSLR kit you would need to buy (and lug around) to match the features.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for a small sensor but design flaws Great results for such a small sensor - great lens and great sensor. However (everyone has their own view on the detail of this) unusable above iso 1600 equivalent. Multi interface flash socket leads to equivalent design flaws on all accessories with bare wires exposed - unsuitable for professional use. Squeezing the 600 mm reach lens means the tripod foot is not central in the baseplate - it very much to the rear of the baseplate requiring an adaptor to give any reassurance - an arca type L bracket does the job - otherwise the camera is way too front-heavy forward of the tripod socket. Definitely better than carrying round a DSLR and an assortment of lenses but it is not the answer to all your needs - especially in dim conditions or if you need to get flashes and other accessories on and off quickly without worrying about breaking them

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent camera I decided to sell all my Canon Digital SLR kit as carrying around a multitude of lenses was becoming tiring and I decided to opt for a bridge camera. Reading all the reviews, the Sony RX10M4 came out on top, time and time again. The investment was well worthwhile. The camera's flexibility and ease of use is amazing and the speed and accuracy of the focusing system is stunning. The zoom range of the lens is a 35mm equivalent of 24 - 600mm (actual = 8.8 - 220mm).The photos are of Happisburgh Lighthouse in Norfolk. The first one is taken at a focal length of 44mm (35mm equivalent), the second at 600mm and the third was cropped in computer from the 600mm photo. The final photo was of the moon at 600mm. The detail and resolution is amazing which shows the quality of the Zeiss lens! I have no regrets being a Sony owner and wish I had done it sooner!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BRILLIANT I bought this camera 14 days ago in preparation for a trip to Kenya in January. I had hoped that the upgrade would have come out, but in the end I couldn’t wait any longer. From my experiences so far it’s the best camera that I’ve bought and complements my Nikon P 1000. My previous Sony camera had been on a 6000 with four lensesand I much prefer this as easier to operate and for what I’ve seen so far produces as good as if not better pictures. It’s an expensive item but you pay for quality and there’s nothing that I’ve seen so far that I don’t like. Highly recommended

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wildlife Camera Absolutely brilliant for my type of image taking. Gave up the Canon Mk7 with numerous lenses as too heavy and it was not with me every day, the RX10iv is with me all the time in a small bag carrying batteries and filters, I never miss an opportunity. Focus is unbelievable and the frame rate astonishing. I have invested a great amount of time studying the potential of my new purchase but well worth it. I recommend Alexander S Whites book plus lots of youtube.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Focus Tracking. My first ever purchase of a Sony camera, recommended by a couple of friends who had moved to this brand. Excellent Focus tracking for wildlife which is my main photography interest. Originally I changed to bridge cameras due to the weight of my old DSLR and separate lenses. The RX10 IV is heavier than my previous bridge cameras but is so well balanced that it's a pleasure to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best camera I have had. Following the reviews I knew this was the camera for me. The image quality and flexibility of that lens was what drew me but the speed and accuracy of the auto focus system is amazing. Expensive for a bridge camera, but a worthy investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality photographs I sold my DSLR to buy this. I wasn't 100% sure that I had made the correct decision but taking it out a couple of times out my mind at rest. The camera has a lot of features that I haven't used yet but those that I have used work well. The photographs are crisp and the colours are vibrant. I'm looking forward to getting to grips with the rest of the features so that I can get the most out of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all purpose camera Sony RX10iv I bought this camera a few weeks ago and am so impressed with the image quality for such a feature packed camera. its hard to believe you can get a 24-600mm zoom equivilent and such a reactive auto focus system in one camera. This has replaced my need to carry a camera body and 2 or 3 lenses. i actually missed some bird photos on holiday recently because i didnt take my big lenses and wished i had the RX10 at the time..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for wildlife So pleased with the camera. I brought it to replace a DSLR with lots of heavy interchangeable lenses. It spent more time on the shelf as a result I needed a camera that would give me great performance but that I could just grab and go. I did lots of research and concluded that the Sony would be perfect and it has not disappointed. The reach of the lens and it’s terrific AF ability, plus its weight and convenience means that I can take it out birding and capture shots with great quality that I had missed before simply as I had not got the more unwieldable DSLR gear. Also the cost of buying all the lens for a DSLR is great. If you want a camera just to capture what you have seen out and about then this is the camera for you. Delighted with the performance for my requirements. This is what I call a genuine bridge camera for wildlife enthusiasts who don’t want to require more specialised equipment.

I replaced my Nikon plus minefield of lenses with this camera and it is great!I traded with jessops because they don’t sell greys and they gave me a good deal against my existing equipment.I own the rx10 already and this is a very good camera but the rx10 iv is fabulous and I would recommend it to anybody starter or professional.Seems expensive but when you use it you will get over the price that’s how good it is!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing camera for the money I bought this camera about a month ago and have been getting up to speed with it since then. It offers so much without having to lug heavy lenses around. It is very good value for money. The images are of excellent quality. I sometimes find the image in the viewfinder doesn't accurately reflect the image taken - but that might be my eyesight! Also, I'm still finding my way around the macro functions, which seems to work well in some situations but not in others. I haven't ready the manual fully yet so, some of my issues might be because I'm not familiar with this camera's many functions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing image quality and zoom After much research, I bought this RX10 iv bridge camera instead of a longer zoom for my DSLR. It’s amazing, I’m absolutely thrilled with it! Within the first week, I have got the most stunning image quality photo’s, that appear wonderfully sharp, with great dynamic range and with the most beautiful colours. I am relieved to find that it definitely rivals my Canon DSLR (if it hadn’t I would’ve been very disappointed)! Within the camera, you can tweak the creative style settings to complement the type of photography that you do. Because I do a lot of seascapes (where the land and sky can have big differences from dark to light), I’m also finding the exposure bracketing useful. The massive zoom range is allowing me to go from beautiful wide seascapes to close-ups of the sea birds within it. This is allowing me to achieve so much with one camera, without having to lug any other lenses around! It’s definitely improved my photographic capabilities and results. I’m also thrilled to be able to achieve a narrow depth of field easily, where required. It is in a higher price bracket than I was originally considering, but I’m now feeling that with the results it’s achieving, it’s definitely been the right decision. So much fun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good bridge camera I have had at various times all the bridge cameras that nikon have made. The RX 10 is much better than all of them. The quality of photos is really good. I use it mainly for birds and comparing the result to a dslr and 150- 600mm lens it is equal to or better and this from a camera that is lighter to carry. It is quite complicated to set up initially as you have so many options but with there are many Internet guides. It is worth persevering

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still learning It's a bit premature to give a full review after only having the camera for a couple of weeks but first impressions are certainly good. So many reviews seem to concentrate on the gimmicks and range of facilities so I thought I'd concentrate on picture quality which, after all, is critical. Using only the JPEG file type, set to maximum quality, certainly gives crystal results. I've shown some photos to friends who, without prompting, have commented very favourably on the sharpness and clarity of the pictures. That, for me, is probably the most important compliment I can pay to the camera. So, being satisfied with that, there are some features that do jump out as worthy of praise: the lens is really very good, even at maximum zoom; the zoom range is very satisfying too. The speed and accuracy of the autofocus is also something I have come to appreciate very quickly and is much better than other cameras I have tried. One particular thing that I find very helpful is that macro photography is seamlessly part of the camera's operation. On other cameras I have had to manually set a macro mode which can be a pain. So far there's only a couple of things that I wish were a little different: one is that the on/off switch isn't ideally placed - it would have been better to have had it within thumb range while holding the camera in the shooting position; the second is that the tripod fixing arrangement lacks the usual second little indent to accommodate the locating pin on most quick-release tripod mounts. The tripod fixing is also rather too far back, so the camera lacks inherent balance when on a tripod - especially with the lens towards the telephoto end of the zoom range. I think some kind of lens support adapter will be worth investigating. Overall I am impressed with this camera and would recommend it - especially to photographers who are more concerned with image quality and less with the bells-and-whistles which plague many of its rivals.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A replacement for the Nex5 I have only just bought this because it looks like a great replacement for my Nex 5. It has both a screen and a viewfinder. The Nex 5 often could not be used in bright conditions. The view finder comes on automatically when it senses your eye near it. It is a bridge camera and does not need me to change lenses. Most of my photographs call for a telephoto lens. This is always available. The Nex 5 needs a flash attachment to be fitted. I always leave it on but it cannot be used properly when the telephoto lens is fitted. The RX10 iv has a pop up flash ready whenever I want to use it. The RX19 iv will focus through the glass on my back door while the Nex 5 would only focus on specks of dirt on the glass. Focusing is quicker than the Nex 5 and usually detects what I am looking at. The Nex 5 had a mind of its own. I was attracted by the ability to focus on the eyes of animals. I think that this is essential for my personal enjoyment. It is only available after updating the software. This was simple enough to achieve once I read the instructions properly on the computer screen. It should be possible to download new photographs wirelessly but I have not mastered this yet. The RX10 iv looks good and feels good but I have only taken a few test photographs so far. What has pleased me most is probably discovering that it uses the same battery as the Nex 5.

I has good reach and match not my Canon 80D with a 150- 600mm lens. The photos are clear from the Lens f2.4 to f4 at 600mmy. It's was expensive to buy but I am selling my 600mm lens as have no use for it as the new do the job just as good. So if you want the best go for this wonderful camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent camera, pity for the menu I bought this camera because to take over from my Panasonic FZ1000. It had excellent reviews and I also had a chance to hold it and 'look through' the lens and everything seemed great. Never having a Sony camera before, I really struggled to get the grips with the menu layout and I bought £25.00 book to explain it all. I've also created a crib sheet to help me find some of the menu items quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this Camera This is a five star camera with a five star performance......The lens range both in telephoto and wide angle is a joy to use....and has a very good 2.4 lens opening for low light use.. I also use a Sony A99 2 with all the clutter that brings, what with the backpack multi-lens ect ect and yes I agree, the 99 is a better camera, but is nowhere as convenient.....But in the camera world, convenience is not enough..No Sir.... after all, we all have our mobile phones if it was easy as that...So the RX10 is much more than convenient with so many options on it, and when I pick it up ...I know that it is going to perform to a great level that does not leave me wishing that I had the 99 in my hands......And with the versatility of the R10, I would often capture a shot that 99 would have missed having had the wrong lens on.....As for problems...The main problem for me is that I now find that on many occasions carry the A99 as well as the RX10 iv just to make that sure I have the right tools at hand, and the R10 certainly fits that bill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Completely changed my mind about mirrorless camera I normally use a top-of-the-range full-frame DSLR with a 400mm f 2.8 lens for wildlife photography. The performance of the RX10 IV does not match such a combination - but it's not far off. If you are travelling, it obviates need for heavy DSLRs and multiple lenses. The camera has more functions than you will ever need. I recently took on holiday - mainly for bird photography. I was stunned just how good the results were - even after heavy cropping. Four niggles: dreadful user manual; fiddly to change custom modes; battery life is poor (buy a couple more with a separate charger); and I haven't found out if I can set the camera to delay the auto zoom retraction (which is irritating if you are taking opportunistic photos like birds in flight).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all round camera Only had this camera for two weeks but already I feel at home with it. I bought it to replace my Olympus EM1 Mk 2 with 2 zoom lenses, because I wanted a camera with one lens that does it all, wide angle to telephoto and the Sony fits the bill perfectly. Autofocus and tracking is as fast as claimed and shooting in raw mode gives me excellent results, despite the smaller sensor. Lots of features and options built in which take a bit of getting used to, so I recommend getting a third party manual as I have, to explain in detail the various features. I have decades of photo experience and I feel sure that I will have and enjoy this camera for years. Highly recommended.

"My Menu" is the best addition as it makes the regular changes easier, focusing is also greatly improved, Photo quality appears better. Lens is great Easy to handle Drawbacks. Major. Will not run play memory apps (can not use apps already purchased for the RX10m3) Minor. Catch on battery box is not sprung loaded, Memory card is awkward to remove. A great improvement over the RX10m3 Sony would have been better missing out the m3.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Remarkable camera 4.5 stars. I replaced good dslr kit with the RX10 as it seemed to tick lots of boxes. Yes you can still be creative either in auto or manual settings. The placement of the focus point is excellent and the close up abilities of the camera are very good. I’ve used in macro type situations, doing bird photography and landscape so far and have been pleased by the output. Had the rear screen been able to be swing out in portrait orientation it would have been 5 stars.

It follows on to a series of interchangeable lens units that, although the quality of images was slightly better, they necessitated humping a heavy gadget bag around and became intrusive on family breaks and outings with friends. Now I have a single camera case and no pauses while changing lens and missing the shot I wanted. The lens is superb and going from macro to portrait to telephoto is almost instantaneous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A camera for all reasons.... Although I have not had the camera long enough to give a full review, hence the four stars, it does show the promise of why I bought it. It is sizeable for a bridge camera but lightweight to me compared to my largest for taking around ( I live in Cumbria). The speed of focus, the size and usefulness of the telephoto lens. The only thing I have added to the basic camera is a spare battery and charger and five filters including ND 2.4 & 8. It is an expense but worth it for the broad range it covers from macro to Tele. Good Zeiss lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly surprised I needed a lighter camera for travel and couldn't justify cost of new Canon mirrorless plus lenses. Former impression of bridge cameras was that lenses were not at same level as camera but so far RX10 lens seems very impressive. Picture quality is very good with reservations about macro images. As a previous Sony A6300 owner, I had hoped they would have simplified the confusing and over-complicated menu screens. There are so many options the ordinary photographer would never use and it can be time consuming finding options. But that is the only downside I have found so far. Bridge cameras may still have a role to play in serious photography

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does everything I need - and the zoom is insane I have just traded in my Canon R8 and multiple lenses, as I was either having to lug around a massive rucksack with every lens in it, or take just one lens to do some shooting. So I either broke my back or had the 'wrong' lens with me. Now, all of that is eliminated. I just take this light camera with me wherever I go. Yes, in low light there is sometimes a bit of noise in the image, but with post processing software nowadays being so good at removing it (should it be wished), I don't care about noise any more. This is a brilliant general purpose camera. And yes it was launched in 2017 (it's now 2025) so could be considered to be ancient, but it has many of the capabilities of current cameras - showing how far ahead of its time it was at launch. I love it. And you will too. Happy shooting!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Far better than expected. Build quality great with dust and some water protection as it will be used outdoors and very close to water. Feels very comfortable in the hand and I like the option of fully manual or fully auto. The telephoto lens is awesome from 24 to 600, auto focus is phenomenal. I need to use it more to get to know the menus and controls as to what this camera will really do, far more packed into this camera system than anything else I've got or had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bridge Camera I bought this to replace my extensive Sony SLR setup. Now rather than carrying camera body and five lenses (10-20,16-50,105, 18-250 and 70-400), I just need to carry the one, and have just lost a few mm of wide angle. I am probably happier with the photos from the the rx10iv than my old 77ii, with a lot less lugging about and as a bonus, faster focus, faster zoom, faster frame rate and great macro to boot. Highly recommended if looking to simplify your setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Less than stellar performance As weather as been very cold and gray (almost no sun since I purchased the camera - 10days) - I have been stuck to take pictures indoors or evenings after work. So far, even if it has a f/2,4 it just can't focus fast enough compare to my Canon 24-70mm f2,8 glass. Lots of blurry pictures as it just can focus on kids or an animal laying down in the floor. Other pictures are not too bad but are not tack sharp. Took some pictures during an evening dinner at a restaurant and no keepers as the camera chases a point to focus on - only usable picture is when I used the flash but then you see the shadow of the lens cover. iOS App: still haven't been able to connect the camera to my iPhone 8+ 256Gb or iPad. Just useless - never had a problems with Canon P&S/DSLRs or Olympus P&S. Camera is not able to connect to either my 2 WiFi Access Points - just keeps saying "Cannot authenticate with WPA/WPA2". Got many other devices on my 2 APs and this is the only one not connecting. Was hoping to move away from my Canon DSLRs and heavy L lenses but now I see no choice but to continue with it as I didn't find what I was looking for in a bridge camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All-rounder I am an enthusiastic amateur photographer and have had Sony cameras for many years. About two years ago I bought the RX10 IV and am very pleased I did. No more taking different lenses every time I go out. It’s a chunky piece of equipment but that suits me as I find a lot of modern cameras too fiddly. The RX10 IV is probably over-specked for me but glad to have a camera that I can I won’t outgrow. Would not hesitate to recommend it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best compact camera on the market My photography greatly improved after I bought this camera about three years ago. I wanted an all-in-one camera instead of a DSLR, and I am so glad I came across this model. It has the quality and features of a DSLR, while still being compact so you don't have to change out lenses. I think it is the best compact camera on the market. Attached are some pictures I have taken with it, to show the quality pictures this camera takes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It really is an ‘all in one’ camera, well almost! When I got back into photography a few years ago I treated myself to a Nikon D7000 and built up a collection of lenses. However, I didn’t make great use of most of the lenses and whilst I didn’t want to get rid of them, they were never with me when I needed them! Also, the combination of the D7000 and a ‘Bigma’ didn’t make for a portable combo. Then last year I bought a RX100 V as a pocketable, always with me, camera and I was blown away by the quality of the images. If only it had a longer reach! About a month after I bought it, Sony released the RX10 IV. Boy did I curse! The Mark III had received great reviews for its lens and now it was combined with the sensor and processor with which I was now familiar. Sounded like a winning combo to me. However, having just shelled out a not inconsiderable amount of money for the RX100, it would have to just be a dream. But dreams do come true, I received a gift and immediately bought the RX10 and I am chuffed to bits with it. It’s quite a chunk of camera but it’s replacing a heck of a lot of Nikon kit and image quality is brilliant. The menus are long and complex but this is a serious camera. It doesn’t have an intervalometer which is a shame. To get that on the RX100 I had to buy an app and use the awful PlayMemories system but that’s another story. I’m glad to see the back of that on this camera. My only real moan is that the supplied strap is too short! I can live with that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent camera, great for bird photography I had been struggling with my previous camera (Sony a65) to get sharp photos of moving objects such as birds and animals, despite changing the settings to optimise movement. Using recommended settings (YouTube videos) I have been getting very good photos, even of small moving birds in a hedge several yards away, so am very pleased. It is well worth taking time to get to know the different settings to get the most out of the camera as there are a lot of features, many of which you will set once and then never revisit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Travel Light I walk the Cornish coast a lot so i wanted something lighter to carry, i normally take my Canon 100-400-zoom or 500mm with me but they are quite heavy. The Sony RX10 IV covers a wide range so its handy in that respect, its not got the picture quality of Canon lenses but its ok for record shots and a lot easier to carry around, i also found that unless you have small fingers the Memory Card is hard to get out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Control 5 days after purchasing this new camera I discover that the shutter speed will not adjust with the rear control dial. The shutter speed could be adjusted by my smartphone. Now the camera is on an 8 day transit with fedex across the country for warranty repair. I assume 7 to 10 days to repair with another 8 days to return. I spent $1600.00 on a camera that I cannot use for about a month. Not what I expect from a product that costs this much! Since I cannot use the camera, the only review I can give is a 1 across the board.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent camera for wildlife and landscape Initially bought as a backup camera for those days when carrying my Canon 1dxii, big lens and crazy tripod isn't an option this has become my go to camera when I know I need to travel light or go some distance. Low light performance is exceptional which, when combined with a frame rate of 25 fps, excellent 24-600mm lens, fast autofocus and completely silent shutter, makes this the ideal choice for wildlife photography - particularly from hides. I'm not saying the mkiv is going to take the place of my DSLR just yet but I can see a day in the not too distant future - say the next two or three iterations of this model - where Sony might well convince me to make the full transition across to a high performance professional bridge camera for good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I want and need After dabbling with a Canon dslr and it's associated lenses I found I was using it less and less because of the constant need to change (and carry) all the lenses. My desire to have greater focal length zoom lenses was limited by the cost, as well as more weight and bulk. Following a lens failure I decided to look at bridge cameras as an alternative to buying another lens. This camera resolves these issues and goes beyond what he dslr camera did in my circumstances. It is so refreshing to just carry a small camera bag around and to always have the right lens attached.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does what I want it to do! I didn't want loads of lenses to carry around. The RX10 was recommended to me by a pro I meet birdwatching, its ideal for walking, seeing something and being able to take the shot almost instantly. I've had the camera 10 months now and I've only found one thing irritating - vignetting when you have it at its widest focal point, but considering everything else this is a small price to pay and a little 'editing' soon sorts that out. Overall very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the only camera you'll ever need After reading various reviews I decided to replace my multi-lens DSLR with the Sony RX10 IV. I have had the camera for only a few weeks now and am astounded with the flexibility the camera offers. The camera can be configured from fully automatic to complete manual control and when combined with the Zeiss zoom lens has enabled me to take very good photographs. The only small issues I have are with the configuration menus which are vast and am still getting to grips with and it is a little heavy, but that's only to be expected giving the size of the zoom lens. I am looking forward to using the camera on my travels

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent all-in-one camera A lovely camera, full of useful, and sometimes confusing, features. It's quite heavy, but that's because it's decent competition for an SLR plus big zoom lens. The lens seems very sharp, and the low light performance also seems good for the 'one inch' sensor size. Suggest you look up Gary Friedman, who has written an e-book on the RX10M4, which is very helpful if you want to get the best from it.

Video capability is professional quality with the added capability of high speed / slow motion. Takes some time to understand all the features and capabilities of the camera, but worth doing. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic take anywhere camera for wildlife. This is without doubt one of the best cameras I have owned. I use it for wildlife photography, especially butterflies, birds and dragonflies. Of course being so versitile I use it for people and scenery as well. Photos are excellent, but the camera controls need to be selected correctly and the feel of the camera got used to. It is well worth studying the manual to get the best settings. I have had one photo published in a well known birdwatching magazine. This camera is a constant companion and delivers every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great - but mind boggling! This comes out top in reviews for all the right reasons. however, it is complicated and it seems to be over complicated for some functions - particularly for sending your photos to your phone. We want to photograph wildlife, particularly birds, so we need to understand different settings. The instructions haven't helped much, but there are plenty of helpful articles and YouTube tutorials to steer you along the way. I wish Sony did an official tutorial. For the price of the camera I don't think that would be much to ask. Really happy we bought it though. Spring on the horizon, so lighter evenings to look forward to and practice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good all rounder Bought to replace a much used RX10 III. Good results for wildlife and scenery in good light. If poor light forces the use of high ISO settings to allow high shutter speed a deterioration in photo quality is apparent when heavy cropping is applied. Good compromise between portability, zoom range and photo quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Camera To think that this outstanding camera has been out for over three years and I do not know about it. I have only had it a couple of weeks and I feel inspired by it to take high quality pictures as per the examples I have sent show. I used to carry a heavy bag with a zoom Lens, wide angle lens, flash gun etc, and it was a heavy bag to carry around. I now have a camera that has all this built in. There are so many remarkable features and many I have not learnt about yet. So far, I can certainly say it takes great images at high speed and close ups. I have not used full macro yet, but I have full confidence that with an aperture of F16 that they will be excellent. What I find totally amazing is that I can hand hold this camera with a full 600mm zoom with no shake, as it has an unbelievably awesome stabiliser system. This was not possible before with cameras that I have used without a tripod. It has the fastest motor drive which was brilliant for a speed boat race meeting I attended. When taking a close up of a Japanese Anemone which was white the camera has a plus or minus exposure setting in a great position on top of the camera; and when you move it you can see the image changing on the screen to get a perfect image straight away, without processing the image later, as whites are always a problem. The neat pop up flash takes perfectly exposed pictures inside and outside with a perfect fill in flash setting. I can genuinely say that although this camera costs more than what I have paid before it is worth every penny, and it is the best piece of photographic equipment I have ever purchased; and I cannot wait to get out and take more photographs.

But, taking the plunge back in to bridge cameras from my DSLR and myriad of lenses (that I was sick of carrying around), I had to go for what I deemed to be 'the best' to keep myself happy, and this camera does not disappoint. Optics seem clear and sharp all the way through the focal range. It's great having aperture and zoom rings on the lens, although I am still getting used to them a bit, especially the speed of the zoom when reacting to using the ring. Camera is quick to operate, and very much DSLR like in it's layout and use. It's light for it's size. It's size did surprise me somewhat - about the same as my DSLR, I was expecting a bit smaller, but that's ok. I am primarily using the view finder rather than the screen, I guess it's just habit, and the EVF is very good with loads of settings detail on the screen. And finally, from the 2 chances I've had to take it out since purchase, the output pictures are good too (examples below). Overall, very happy with it, and would choose it again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An ideal all in one travel camera. After using a Nikon mirrorless body, my wife got fed up of swapping lenses all the time so we tried out an RX10IV in the local Sony Centre. A very friendly assistant showed us the basics and let us take some images with it to review. The handling is easy and at the wide end it does amazing macro. Even at 600mm the image quality is rather impressive. Overall an ideal all in one camera which does all that my wife wants it to do, she is very happy with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mixed review I bought the Sony as a replacement for a trusty old Nikon D40. Firstly I was a little surprised that the Sony is actually no lighter or smaller than the old Nikon (with Tamron 16-300 lens). The next thing is that I found the autofocus modes quite difficult to set up on the Sony, and also the black level and aperture settings seem a little strange in Auto mode. Nevertheless, when you get the camera set up correctly, the actual picture quality is first class. I need to do a training course to get the best out of this camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Bridge Camera I am travelling to Costa Rica soon and cannot take my oM1 with me. This will be perfect for any wildlife I might encounter. Its 600mm range will be very useful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from By far the best bridge camera for my requirement Most, perhaps all, bridge cameras offer lots of exposure options, eg fully auto, aperture priority, shutter priority, manual. However, all but one of them are a nightmare to use in anything but fully auto. By contrast the Sony is utterly brilliant, particularly in aperture priority, which is my mode of choice 90% of the time. For a non-SLR camera it is very expensive but you really do get what you pay for. I have no interest in video or sound, so I cannot comment on those aspects.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sorry just not for me I bought this camera as a walk about camera it has some fantastic features but with the 1" sensor I had problems with noise .I take a lot of shots at dusk or dawn and even at 100 ISO it still produced noise at a setting of FD8 SS1/160 using a Tripod .It is a great camera but I guess I am to used to full frame or a larger sensor .I am sure a lot of people will love this but just not for me SORRY

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The (Almost) Perfect Camera. I've had this camera for a few weeks. It replaced a Mk3 version, as I wanted faster focussing. I've owned top of the range, Fuji, Olympus and Panasonic mirrorless cameras with the best lenses those companies produce. As a hobbyist, for sheer fun and usability, this is the most enjoyable camera I've owned. It does everything well. If it supported a faster memory card it'd be perfect. In fairness, the huge buffer means that this hasn't really been an issue for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doing what I need I purchased this after extensive research as I needed a bridge camera I could shoot a range of subjects using just my right hand. So far I've used it for shooting windsurf action, bees and butterflies in flight, garden birds and show jumping and it does everything I need. On a personal note, I find the grip is a bit uncomfortable, pressing on my top finger

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "Go to" camera My main subject of photography is wild life and whilst I have another DSLR with a long lens, my Sony RX10 iv has become my "go to" camera for everyday work. My only concern is that above 800 ISO the picture quality is quite grainy which makes using it in poor light or in winter a bit difficult.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Wildlife shots! Swapped seven lenses and a pro camera for the RX10 IV and apart from saving my back from carrying the extra weight, this camera out performs them every time for 90% of the photos I want to take. Optical stabilisation is probably the best today. I would like to see the next RX10 with F1.4 to F22 and a higher range of ISO because night shots need a tripod for quality, and on holiday this can be a pain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Powerful all in one body I have used other bridge cameras in the past and DSLR's as well. But I am at an age now that doesn't want to carry lenses. So after looking at videos and talking to a friend that owns a RX10 Mk3 I decided to go for the Mk4. And I don't think that I made a mistake. It does everything that I want and better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really a camera/computer Bought his camera a few months ago. In no way do you want to buy this camera without also buying A. White's "Photographer's Guide to the Sony DSC-RX10IV." Camera dors everhthing, but complex to use and set up. Unfortunately, I have had some focus problems and I'm told by SONY help the only way to fix it is to go back to camera default settings which wipes out all the personal preferences I have already set up. Not a happy experience for a camera of this price - only as good as the workings of the internal computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jack of all trades master of all I bought the camera to replace my Dslr setup as I was getting tired of lugging the kit around. Really pleased with results from this camera and I find I am using it more being more portable. A spare battery together with a mains charger is, I would say a must have item. The camera is well built and feels quality without being a heavy weight, have not found anything negative to say about the camera so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great new features I have owned the RX10, RX10 3 and now the RX10 4 and I have been happy with all of the cameras. The new features on the RX10 4 are good but not good enough to make the decision to change from the 3 an easy one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything in one After many years of lugging a Canon 5D mk3 and various lenses around I traded the whole lot in for the RX10 4. Very happy with the performance of this camera. Focusing and tracking for wildlife are excellent, it had no problem locking on to a pond skater and producing a nice sharp image. Great for travel and wildlife and perfect for surfing "frozen action" shots. Compares very well with other bridge cameras, I hope that production is continued or replaced with a mk5

At first I bought the RX10 M3, then I upgraded to RX10 M4 to be taken to Malaysia to watch Sepang MotoGP. this camera is truly amazing !!! the zoom is very far, the results are very sharp, even without aiming the results are very sharp !!! the auto focus is very fast, when the racer goes very fast it is still caught pretty good. for close-up photos the results are very satisfying too. goodbye camera with a lot of lenses, enough with this all replaced. now I'm waiting for the Sony RX10 M5 oga hopefully Sony will release it soon

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blew me away... Previously I had a Nikon D3x with all the f2.8 lenses. Fisheye, landscape, around town zoom & a long telephoto for wild life. My camera bag probably weighed around 40-50lb & whilst impressive it was very heavy. Although with this camera I can only get 24mm at the wide end (as opposed to my Nikon 14-24mm now I get 600m at f4 as opposed to my 300mm f4 with a 1.4 converter (480mm) f.5.6 & damned heavy (Not to mention the cost (around £6k for that set up & if I suddenly wanted to change to a wide angle @ f2.8...I had to change everything...now I just wind in the zoom. I loved taking various shots but it was hard work with the Nikon set up....Not any more with the RX10...Very happy chappy. Not cheap but then quality never is.

The first time out with it, went to a red kite feeding location and came home 4576 photos! Fantastic hit rate for my first effort. A few gone half way out the frame, a few too close! But overall, I was very impressed. On subsequent outings, it has continued to please, so am very happy that I finally took the plunge and upgraded.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny I've been very sceptical about the quality of bridge cameras and bought a secondhand Sony RX10M3 to test them, it's results within a week turned me to a new RM10M4. This camera is a real gap filler in my collection of photographic equipment. No longer do I need to take a number of items to do a job because of it being light, compact and oustanding high lens quality. Normally as a professional I'm using a DSLR with short zooms and 300mm & 500mm prime telephoto lenses for aviation. At major events it's a lot to carry over many hours. Getting in close at fence lines to static aircaft the lens is superb ... at long range (flying shots) I'm still getting used to it and have yet to find it's totally reliable focusing on moving objects, but this could be "User error" as a newby with it. There is no doubt that the quality of the lens is the guts of the image quality and I just cannot fault it. The video side I've not explored yet but look forward to doing so soon. Overall, a REALLY fantasic camera they many user options, not the cheapest but the price reflects the quality of the image which at the end of the day is what a camera is there for. My ONLY negative comment is the poor "User manual" ... does not cover many of it's functions!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect and best travel camera I bought this for my African Safari vacation in 2019. I wanted to bring my a99ii because of the sensor power but then thought I had to switch lenses and the extra weight. I was dead set on the a99ii for 6 months but the last month I said I’m going to do the RX10m4 because of the convenience. I’m so glad I did!!! The rx10m4 got so many shots from close (24mm) one second to having to zoom to 300mm+. I wouldn’t have been able to get the shots and video that I got without it. If you’re going on a nature hike, vacation, Safari, etc get this camera. I got a Ewa Marine case for my a99ii and it fit my rx10 and it went shark cage diving. This is the absolute best overall, all in one, do it all camera. I will gladly keep updating when I have to. It’s such a great camera and worth every single penny!!!

Multi-Frame-Noise-Reduction works well in low light. The phone app seems to be reliable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional Photographer Switched to SONY RX10 M4 Having used top of the line DSLR's and $30,000.00 worth of lenses and accessories, and having sold ALL of my DSLR's and my DSLR accessories to switch to the SONY RX10 Mark IV, and selling MORE of my work now with SONY than ever before... I can tell you I am VERY satisfied and my back doesn't hurt from schlepping 5 lenses, extended battery grips, flash units, etc... I carry ONE bag, 6 batteries, a few filters, a flash, my carbon fiber travel tripod and the wires and remote release system I sometimes use... WITH my notebook computer and wires, WITH the bag, weighs less than my two camera bodies, battery grips, only one of my lenses and batteries...COMBINED! My clients and all kinds of people commented on my work... "Although your work has always been tack sharp and compelling, something happened a year ago that impacted the over all quality and inspiration of your images... Keep it up, whatever it it!" Sales are UP! I am a SONY guy and many of my images have been viewed over four MILLION times, and I am always proud to answer the ubiquitous question.... "What camera and lens system do you use?" I am proud to say... SONY RX10 Mark IV! Fellow Professional photographers ask quizzically, "A POINT AND SHOOT?!?!?" Yep, but a point and shoot on steroids!! There are a few improvements I would make... 1. Add a card slot. 2. Bigger battery. 3. hit the 24mp mark. 4. Dedicated built in teleconverter button. 5. Built in ND Filter. 6. Flip around articulating rear screen. 7. Make charge battery in camera possible. I love my camera and I shoot thousands of images per week... Although I should be a salesman for SONY RX10 M4 because I've sold so many, I have not been compensated for this review.

If Sony wants users to fully enjoy this camera and maximise it's potential a comprehensive and clear manual ( the online manual is basic and does not help set up complex actions) outlining the various steps should be provided as an important part of the package not as an after thought. For example Memory Recall is essential to quickly utilise set ups and functions but little attention is made of this. The camera itself is quite brilliant and extremely versatile, the slow motion at 250 fps for 4 seconds is fantastic and is a terrific artistic device. Overall after set up I am more than delighted with the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing lens and focusing speed This is a update from my RX10M2 which I loved. Three days after that purchase the M3 was announced, sigh. I could not justify making that switch. But when the RX10M4 was announced I was first on the list. The focus tracking and speed are worth the upgrade if you plan on photographing fast moving objects. As I mentioned I loved the RX10M2 and now with the RX10M4 I have the extra range on the lens, super great autofocus. This should be the "Perfect Camera" BUT the one thing that kills a 10 on this camera. No PlayMemories apps can be downloaded. I used the Time-Lapse app to make up for Sony's pathetic self-timer options. I also used the Touchless Shutter since many of their camera switch so nicely from viewfinder to screen. I hope that there is a firmware update to ALL Sony cameras that would build in time-lapse recording. The self-timer needs to work using flash for each shot not just the first shot. Self-timer needs three settings 1 delay before shooting 2 time between shots 3 number of shots I was told be a tech rep from Sony that the high end cameras like the a9 and now this CyberShot RX10M4 will not be using PlayMemories Apps. So close to the "Perfect Camera" This photo is straight from the camera on the second outing with the camera. Strike that max upload is 5meg so I downsized and added a detailed view. Stunning performance from this camera. Hey engineers figure out the Apps and give them updates, I will give it a 10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent birding camera I bought this 4.5 years ago and have never regretted it. Easy to carry, takes great photos, and is very useful for birds and sports. Not so good for macro, great for the moon and planets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Hardware - not intuitive to use The manual for this camera is a whopper - and it is not easy to navigate. Certain things do not appear to work the same way as other cameras. In the Auto setup for example, I would have thought depressing the shutter half way would autofocus the camera quickly (per canon, nikon). This does not seem to be the case. For HFR (the reason I bought this camera) it is great. The zoom feature also seems to have a mind of it's own.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All purpose excellent camera I bought this camera two months ago. I am still learning how to use it. Is a great multi purpose camera.but not to use under the water!. I find that it has complete set of customization options, but for that reason, is much better to take your time to read its Help Manual and make your own available menu settings to ease its use. It has taken a lot of time to me, but finally, it became a superb camera and fast to use in any condition, can say, an "All Terrain". Of course, its picture quality is not as a full frame one, but is as about an APS-C one. Very good indeed!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous camera Sony have built a great camera. This was my camera of choice after reading the specifications and reviews and find it does everything claimed and more. My previous Sony took good photos but was too slow in operation. This RX10 Mark IV is fast and offers features often overlooked in the reviews - so many in fact - I may never get to explore them all. The RX10 can be a simple is aim and shoot camera, however, is complex to master the numerous features that are available. I am keen to see the colour options in order to reproduce natural colours of the scenery from my trips. My opinion of this camera is that it offers great versatility, innovation and brilliance. Congratulations Sony.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Camera, Great Value. I have never owned a fixed lens camera in 50 years or so of photography and I have used many, many cameras in that time; all had removable lenses. This camera is without doubt the best camera I have ever owned. An enormous array of photographic capabilities coupled with superb image resolution make the RX10 IV the best camera I have ever owned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing number of options Bought this to update my existing Sony bridge camera. I particularly wanted the speed of focusing as the delay in digital cameras is very frustrating when shooting wildlife. I will probably not use many of the features but enjoying taxing my brain to use those that would suit me. It is a shame that there is not a more comprehensive instruction book provided as it is quite tiring and frustrating looking at the one on line. However I look forward to trying it in the wild and a bit more than my garden birds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Was Really Excited To Use This Camera ! Sony instructions to operate this camera was poor. Only choice is to buy a 3rd party manual. When fully zoomed out and focusing on a particular thing, hard to get a clear photo. Auto focus very touchy. Portrait setting on auto not clear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Camera!! I bought this camera after a lot of research and a lot of great reviews from my pro photographer friends. So many great features and great optics lead me to get rid of a ton of DSLR gear and replace it with this awesome camera, that's a piece of art in itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressive! After four months of heavy use I am pleased to say I am impressed. I've used the RX10 IV in extreme heat and sub-zero temps without a problem. As a professional commercial / advertising photography for better than thirty years I have relied exclusively on large format and full frame cameras. The RX10 IV was purchased for a specific task and quickly became part of my professional work flow. Images are top quality. Focus is amazing (both auto and manual. ) Because of the quality of the images (I shoot RAW) and the versatility of the lens, actuate metering and focus. I can make photographs in places that would be impossible otherwise. Clients are pleased so I am pleased!. 4k Video is awesome. very pleased to have slog and cine. Works great with studio flash as well as indoors without flash. High ISO has noise. However there is so much detail with proper photography techniques and a little noise reduction images are not just usable they are client ready. Again because of the high quality lens - no problems up sizing to make 80 inch prints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sony RX10M4 beats all the competitors. Too many good things to list, only one disappointed - low light performance. Waiting for RX10M5 to resolve this issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good camera for traveling I bought this camera a little over a month to go along with my Sony A77 II. I was most interested in the fact that I could get a 600 mm zoom without having to carry extra lenses. This camera does have some advancements over my A77 II. I do like the super fast focus, that is a real bonus when you taking wildlife shots. This camera is light weight and easy to carry around. Which is major plus when you traveling with limited space and weight. I have not tried the video yet, I'm more into the still photography. I do recommend that you use a tripod or mono pod if you use the full 600 mm power. Remember, no matter how stead you are, this will give you an extra steadiness that you for distance shots. I've been using Sony camera for over 20 years and have always had good luck with them. That is another reason why I purchased this camera. You should also make sure to use the proper SD cards as well. The high speed cards are great, when you are doing rapid shooting. Make sure to review the camera and know the functions before you go out on your first photo shoot. Also I would recommend getting a second battery, the battery life is not the same as my A77. I would suggest that you stay with Sony batteries, rather than the aftermarket. The charge is not the same and may not last as long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great travel camera. I purchased this camera to use on a vacation to Newfoundland. I do quite a bit of hiking there and I wanted to reduce the wait that I normally carry when using a DSLR. I am very happy with the features this camera offers. One feature that I would like to have would be a digital ND filter. The fact that I don't have to carry and change lenses for the changing situations is good for 2 reasons. First of all, is the reduced weight of my backpack and second of all, no dust enters the camera and gets on the sensor. This camera also focuses extremely fast! Took some shots at the local basketball game and was very impressed. Also the frame rate is crazy fast! The picture quality is very good for a point and shoot. I wish I was able to shoot a higher quality JPEG along with RAW at the same time. I bought the RM-VPR1 wired remote for when I have the camera on a tripod. I feel that the wire is much too stiff and will transfer vibration to the camera if I don't tie it to one of the legs. I would also lie to see a lock on the video button so I don't accidently start shooting video. (this has happened many times) Speaking of video, I don't normally shoot video, so I'm not commentating on that feature, but I imagine the camera takes high quality video from what I see in the stills I have taken.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great "one camera for everything" product. I bought this camera when they introduced it. Excellent telephoto range and fast focusing. Perfect for anybody that wants to have just one lens to carry. Great compliment for my a9

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprised By Performance My camera is an A9, but because of neck surgeries I needed a lighter camera with distance for a special event. It did quite well. Not as fast as the A9, but good quality photos. Absolutely hate the cheap plastic on/off button and clunky housing, but it is a very good camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BETTER THAN I EXPECTED PURCHASED THIS ITEM LAST WEEK IN DECEMBER. DID SO TONGUE IN CHEEK AS I TRADED IN MY A7R. WE TRAVEL QUITE A BIT & I WAS TIRED OF DRAGGING A CARRYON WITH 3 LENSES, A FLASH & ALL THE RELATED EQUIPMENT. I FEARED THAT THIS WAS JUST ANOTHER POINT & SHOOT. I CAN TESTIFY THAT IT IS NOT. IT HAS ALL THE SHOOTING OPTIONS FOUND ON DSLRS & MIRRORLESS COUNTERPARTS. PICTURES ARE SHARP & CAN BE COMPARED TO MOST OF THE PICTURES I HAVE TAKEN WITH MY A7R OR NEX 7 (I USE THAT AS MY WALK AROUND ALTERNATIVE)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bridge Camera!! I bought this camera a little over a month ago and am very happy with my purchase. The frames per second is amazing and the clarity of the lens makes shooting in low light really good. Falls short in high speed, fast action sports. There is an element of blur that is hard to eliminate with hand/finger wave with sprinting athletes. Zoom and quality of picture is amazing. Downside is takes longer to reset after shooting a burst of pictures while camera is writing to card/memory. Would definitely purchase again. Primary planned use is for vacation so I don’t have to pack whole SLR camera/lenses and for upclose shots after sports games/competitions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small, Compact and Versatile Canon digital shooter since 2001, currently using 5D4 and 5DS-R with all the glass from 8mm to 600mm. If you're familiar with photography and cameras, this little gem will produce some great images for you. And so light compared to a full DSLR setup. Great option for traveling or if you just want to go light. Highly recommended!
