Well, I have this camera for a while now, I love it definitely, but to compare with the price of it, and how much it costs to make a complete set of it, what it needs to perform its best, is very expensive. And this is not only about Sony, unfortunately all the companies nowadays think about money and profit more than how they can make customers and people happy. So it is very obvious that it is based on earning more with selling more products, rather than making it easy going for the customers.

It’s lightweight, reliable, never overheats, and the autofocus is rock solid. Feels like a true cinema camera in a compact, easy-to-use body. Worth every dollar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Cinema Camera I got the FX3 for long-form videos and never had experience with a cinema camera before that. I wasn’t expecting anything too different from my other Sony cameras like the A7IV, and while the menu system is similar, the FX3 is really fun to use for video. I love the A7IV, but if you want something designed for video with a similar form factor, the FX3 is incredible. I love that it’s full-frame and I can use the same lenses across my FF cameras. The video quality just has a certain look to it that’s not as digital looking as other cameras. It’s easy to use and the tally lights on the front and back are awesome to have. The build quality is top notch and button layout is smart. I love the handle it comes with and the XLR inputs work really well. I also was able to add to the handle and rig it a little bit but still keep it simple. I’m also really impressed with the photo quality! Genuinely surprised by the photos. They look like any other Sony. I thought they would be softer with less resolution but they look amazing. Unless you’re printing big physical photos, this is fully capable of photos like how 99% of people view them on digital screens. The FX3 is AWESOME!!

Right out of the box, it impressed me with its lightweight and compact build, which is perfect for someone like me who loves the flexibility to shoot anywhere, from spontaneous run-and-gun shoots to more planned productions. What stands out the most is the stunning full-frame sensor. The image quality is exceptional—I’m talking sharp, detailed footage that makes every shot look cinematic. The dynamic range also blew me away; it handles highlights and shadows with ease, giving me the freedom to capture scenes exactly the way I want without worrying about lost details. With this camera I’m fighting with the light and not against it and turning light down. Best camera I’ve used plus we got shutter angle. True cinema camera! I was thinkin about buying a cage in which I’m still going to do but there isn’t a need with this thing as there are so many mounting points.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Operation error I have been using the FX3 for one wedding and one music video during July 2024. There was so many issues wile recording. It started disconnecting on and on. I had the second body A7iv but I was stressed and trying to use the FX3 as I’ve setup settings for it. When I look on my memory card after the ring exchange nothing was showing. I send my memory care to the manufacturer to recover and I’ve received the recovery footage but nothing showing what I needed. Then I try to use the FX3 for a music video. There again the operating system was given me many issues. Footage have been recorded but when I try to view them there is an error showing the card is not recognised, reinsert the card. I did many times but the same issue. I insert the same card to A7iv and it was showing and I managed to download to my computer with no issue.

I’m using the Sony 50mm 1.4 with an ND filter, giving a beautiful look way passed the quality of previous cameras that I had used like the Black Magic series. The Sony FX3 is reliable and opening up childhood dreams of being able to make shorts.

I’m an Arri and Fuji man but the colour science coming out of a Venice2 I used recently was superb. This little camera is the same. Intuitive cine centric layout. Thank you Sony. I’m a massive fan.

After the last update, you can not use V-mount batteries (any production standard) or any 3-rd party batteries, therefore it is useless for big production when you need your camera to run all the time and and use V-mount batteries.

Many times the camera freeze, I should restart it. I didn't expect that. Now I have to pay an air ticket to bring it in the shop I bought it in dubai to repair.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent - questionable firmware update / app I have used the FX3 for some time now full-time in corporate and short film production and it is simply awesome. The Camera had performed well and until the latest firmware worked flawlessly. Since the latest firmware, said it only had to do with the new app, it has been getting a battery error, never had that issue any time beforehand but the second I installed the firmware to the app update it started happening. Linking the app to the FX3 has never worked and it causes the FX3 to crash, meaning it becomes non-responsive and you can't turn it off. Sony wants me to send in the camera and all my batteries, but that would mean valuable downtime. So not sure what to do yet. Back to the camera, before the app firmware update, and even after this, ignoring the incompatible battery thing and flaky battery readings after the warning the FX3 is just fantastic. perfect for everything, gimbal, black arm, Tilta Float. So no complaints about the camera itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'll definitely upgrade I bought this as an upgrade from my A7iii because many told me of the color, the fan, and the full frame, yeah yeah yeah but holding it as a on the go shooter is not comfortable, there is no finder, and the turn on and off is not easy to use. This camera is great though, just not my favorite and I'll for sure end up upgrading it. The best features is the color, the ability to record yourself and see your yourself when recording, and the recoding light so you know it is recording. Overall 7 out of 10
