Screen arrived damaged, terrible customer service
I bought the TV and it arrived a few days later. Five minutes after I set it up, the screen starts flickering with static lines appearing all over making it unwatchable.
I tried calling Sony customer service the next day, and it turns out they're closed on weekends. So I had to call them a few days later. After being transferred from a few different teams, I arranged for a replacement to be sent. They need to buy their employees better headsets as I couldn't even hear half of what they were saying.
It turns out they are going to screen the TV to see if I am at fault. I'm happy for them to check it out, but it's outrageous that the process to look at it will take 2 weeks.
I still haven't actually received a TV, and it's going to take a month since my purchase date. Had I ordered from Samsung or LG, I would have had a perfectly working TV right now.
God forbid they turn around and blame me for their faulty screen

great television 85" is a fantastic size
I bought this 85" television 2 weeks ago . because i have bone cancer and cannot take my family on holidays.So i treated my family to a large television.

Great TV
Bought it in November 2023 and it definitely is a great TV, after two bad experiences with Samsung. The only thing that I think should be easier, is when connecting Bluetooth devices to it, other than that, it's a great TV.

Excellent Value TV
I purchased this tv for my living room because I wanted a large high quality 85 inch tv for the space I had available. This Sony tv fits the bill perfectly. I find watching it very enjoyable. The operating system is smooth and responsive which is really nice. The color and motion flow of images is very good. I own a smaller Sony OLED and it compares very nicely to that tv. The OLED has a superior picture overall, but if you don't have them side by side you can't tell the difference. I would have purchased another Sony OLED but they don't offer them in 85 inch size. Overall I'm very pleased with this tv, and I find it an excellent value for what you get with regards to price. I find Sony TV's to be best brand available and this tv is their top level LED and it shows. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Great picture at the price level
I was looking at Samsung and LG but when I saw the great picture on the Sony Bravio and the price difference between them I had to go with the Sony. Glad I did.

Good to Great TV, BUT
I have a new (December 2023) 85" XR 85X90L and notice what appears to be cleaning streaks/smears that I cannot remove or clean, possibly behind the outer screen surface. I only notice the streaks when the screen is black (or TV is off) in a dark room, and a light is reflecting off a glass patio door opposite the TV, see photos. I spoke with the retailer and they replaced the TV with the same model, but I still noticed the streaks/marks. I also contacted Sony and the agent referred me to an authorized servicer, but they could not diagnose the issue due to time of day the lines would appear (before sunrise or after sunset).
Can anyone explain the "mystery streaks or smear marks", see photos? Possibly the anti-reflection/glare coating feature?
The image looks great and does not appear to be compromised, but I want to make sure; see photos taken after sunrise. Is this a problem that Sony should address and issue a recall or a corrective action plan?

The best TV ever
This is the best tv i ever had. The last TV I had was a Samsung Qled, this is night and day, the picture quality is excellent. The motion is good, upscaling is fantastic and the HDR is amazing.

Bought the 85inch, and initially very happy with the purchase. Great features and pleased I bought it. However, I am disappointed in that two weeks in there was a fault viewing anything because out of the blue there were lines and blocks running across the screen. I have had to play about with connections from the back of the TV - and sometimes they disappear, sometimes I have to switch everything off, with the hope they disappear.
I am expecting a new one as a replacement so hope this was a one-off fault and not a reoccurring issue with this TV.

The best bang for your buck Sony TV!
I love my 85" X90CL aka Costco model because of warranty and exclusive club remote(its reallly nice).
This is a quick review for 2 week ownership. This Sony TV is amazing. The best one yet. It was a early xmas gift for my father who loves watching TV. He loves it. The color is amazing and picture is so nice. I almost bought the TCL QM8 because of the brightness but honestly the Sony can be bright too but I watch most things in Cinema mode its more real life. I am blown away by this TV you can't go wrong with this model. Its the cheapest model you can get that has XR.
We upgraded from a 65" Samsung Curved TV. It blows that TV away also because we moved into a bigger house and that curved screen just isn't working out anymore so I'm really happy we got the upgrade.
If you're looking for a new TV with the best picture quality and not hurt the wallet too much then look no further!

Definitely the best in it's weight class...
Had an 85" TCL QM8 which was awesome except it's Dolby vision mode was just horrible.
Swapped that for the Samsung 77" s90c which has an absolutely incredible picture and unparalleled game mode. Unfortunately, once I was used to an 85" screen the Samsung felt way to small for the space despite its incredible picture. Fast-forward now and replaced that with the X90L - it is a definite upgrade over the TCL QM8 and actually rivals the S90c with 4k cinematic content. Game mode is the only disappointing aspect of this TV. It's good but doesn't hold a candle to the S90c. If you are looking for an affordable 85" immersive screen for movies and high quality streaming this is the one. If gaming is your highest priority, you may be better served with different brand or go with the A80L.
Next TV will be an 83" Sony QD-OLED as they seem to be the best all around performers. Going to start saving my pennies now for when they finally release an 83" QD-OLED panel :)

Love the pic quality. No doubt it’s amazing. The software kinda sucks. They have a button called TV which is programmable. I’ve set mine to pull up HDMI4 so my Apple TV starts streaming live video on the Soecrrum app. The TV isn’t able to be set to automatically go to TV when powered up and so I have to press buttons to watch TV. It’s actually quite annoying though I thought it wouldn’t be at first. A simple “startup option” would go a very long way.

After many hours of research I decided on the X90L 85" when I saw it was on sale. Was going to get the X95L but could not justify paying more than double. Off angle is not good but that is well documented. Everything pops. My son and son in law could tell an immediate difference from my prior 5 year old Samsung Qled. Have the A7000 Sony sound bar and the Center Sync is awesome! Very happy with the purchase.
