Rated 5 out of 5 by from Five Year Warranty? TV Does Not Upscale As Claime Sony claim this OLED TV has a 5 Year Warranty but have declined to honour this by refusing to give me it. The picture does not upscale to 4K from all sources as claimed, it is pathetic with SD format, not anywhere as good as my other 4K LED TV , which is a cheaper TV. Unless Sony honour the 5 year Warranty I shall not be buying anymore of their products. Best of luck trying to sort out any of your product problems with Sony, its a nightmare without any resolution, just like its picture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Over all an excellent TV Picture quality is superb. Brightness can be a challenge depending on how bright the room is. I was able to adjust brightness and its OK for an OLED. The sound & loudness is good over all and can be adjusted to your needs. Screen casting works flawlessly on this A90k and picture quality remains solid. It is also a very fast while browsing apps or changing channels. Bottom line: This TV needs darker rooms or space to perform its colors and to be enjoyed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic OLED TV I bought this to replace my main TV and I am very impressed. The picture is fantastic, both in standard and HD. Movies are amazing and a huge step up from my previous tv. The sound is great for a flat tv, and I am not sure I even need to buy a separate soundbar. The remote and tv navigation are very easy to use and responsive, integrating all the various apps seamlessly into google TV. I am still learning all the various features. I have no regrets at all with my purchase and cannot recommend this TV highly enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fuss free This 48 inch Sony replaced a curved Samsung ..i already have similar Sony Bravia in another location ..unlike the 55inch one this 48inch was much easier to assemble as the stand was much more simple to put together..sounds a minor issue but with the 55 inch the guys from curry’s first time round were unable to fix the twin legs in the upright position and left and a second time came round a week later and they too were stressed by lack of proper instructions..but this set was easy and took just a few minutes ..and I assembled and set up this tv on my own.l adopted the same set up,routine with this 48 as per my 55 ..namely not to set it up as a google tv but just as a Sony one..as I gather from other people’s reviews of the 55 inch if set up under google format it’s a hassle every time,switching on as google come up..when people just want their tv programme..it’s one reason why I ditched Samsung ..they don’t give you any option as my old tv was switched to their own in house channel set up via an update and I was given no say in this and it’s irreversible..so,full marks to Sony.. As regards the quality of the tv..picture is excellent..sound is fine given flat screen..the remote is fine..it’s a very very user friendly tv functionally ..and I liked the first one so much I got,this too

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unnatural picture I have had the tv for two weeks. Every evening I have to try to adjust the picture settings (of which there are many!) to get a natural picture. The picture is so dark, the colours are lurid and human faces have a slight yellow tinge. I just can't get a natural looking picture. My previous flatscreen panasonic tv which lasted 20 years had a natural looking picture straight out of the box and the picture settings never needed adjusting in all of the time I had it.This is very disappointing as I had high hopes for the new tv. It is also difficult to completely power off the tv by the main on/off button as the tv goes into standby and is able to be switched back on using the remote control proving that has not completely powered down

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SONY OLED XR-48A90K I purchased this TV from a well known store. Mega pleased with it, looks great, sounds great. Couldn't use it the first day I got it (Saturday) as it went into one of these never ending restart cycle loops. Technical support at JL were not helpful, their lack of knowledge was embarrassing, they wouldn't listen to my description of the problem, instead they decided what it was, and kept telling me over and over again to hold the on/off switch in - it doesn't have a press-in on/off switch but a sliding switch instead which you can't press. On the 5th repeated cycle they gave up and said they would need to send an engineer to carry out a repair that was 4 days later. A replacement wouldn't arrive until the follwoing Saturday. Overnight, I searched and trawled the internet, until finally. Folks this is so important this next bit and save you so much stress and time. When you first switch the TV on, it takes you through a setup procedure, mixed with Sony credentials and Google TV credentials. WARNING: The TV doesn't like hanging in the user login screen into google account (I didn't have one, so had to set one up on the laptop, whilst the TV was waiting) This is quite an innocent event - I wasn't doing anything wrong or being foolish. When I returned to the TV, screen timed out and then the TV went into this never ending reset loop and wouldn't come out of it) So, do you blame SONY TV or Google TV? You'd never guess it was Google TV that was causing the problem, so I tapped in GOOGLE TV ON SETUP LOOP - and hey presto - a proper reset procedure that worked!! With the TV ON: 1. Press Help Button 5 Times (slowly), the TV will then enter into the Contact & support Page 2. Press these buttons in the following order (fast): RED, 4,3,5,7,PLAY. 3. The TV will be rebooted and Factory data reset is performed automatically. 4. Redo the setup, this time I avoided Google TV, and set that up separately. Its was a shame that JL technical couldn't get their act into gear and also a great shame that SONY doesn't put this in their manuals. If Sony officials vet and read these reviews, perhaps they should include this procedure in their bumph, seriously, I am not kidding. Apart from this, we love the TV, it's more than we wanted, very impressed, my wife was very impressed with me for finding the info myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what i was looking for and more I bought this recently to replace the second TV in the Kitchen, i must say i was immediately impressed with the features that it has and the Google TV bringing everything together Combined with a wall mount bracket the unti floats on the wall emittng great sound quality, the preset picture settings arent quite to my liking but these are easily change for your own viewing preferences. A great piece of kit im loving it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Probably a fantastic television Superb picture, fantastic sound. YouView is not as good as freeview plus, or even Freesat through the old box, but it does the basics okay. Main problem with it is the non existent operating instructions. One of the remotes doesn't exist on the Sony website, yet it is available for sale through Amazon, not even a button diagram for it. I couldn't figure out how you record to a usb until I plugged in some satellite cables at the back, which by the way according to the manuals online the television doesn't have. Then the onscreen menus changed to ask me if I wanted to set a reminder, or record the program I had selected. Before plugging the cables in it just offered the reminder alarm bit, and even though I have now removed the satellite cables I still have the menus. The help menus have more instructions on how to operate and set up the optional equipment which I haven't bought than the tv which I have actually purchased. The bits I have gleaned from hours of trawling through years of forums, has enhanced my appreciation of the product, but I would rather enjoy watching the television than spending hours trying to find out how to operate it. To those who say it's a television and they're all the same, I bought this set because it has lots of features the cheaper sets don't have and I would like to use them if I want to, if you don't want the features buy a cheaper set. Or buy this one and when you figure out how to access the features please let me know. There's lots of others much more technically minded on the forums that also want answers to what are basic questions about its operation who also would like to know, so they can help people like me out. It's my second Sony television the last one had a real instruction book and was great.

I find the menu screens very difficult to navigate and the help information poor. It is taking a long time to get used to. The picture and sound quality is very good. I shall keep working on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic picture and sound I bought this to replace an older lg TV not only is the picture top quality especially with full hd broadcasts an 4k content but what surprised me was the sound I always needed a sound bar but not with this TV . It does a fantastic job with Dolby surround sound with hidden speakers behind the screen. Also 2 remotes included the one with backlight keys is so welcome especially when watching with the lights off or down. Nice one. I'm very happy with this TV Sony always does great quality TVs .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Failed I purchased this product on 20th January 2023. We watch the TV in the evenings: it is not on throughout the day. The TV failed on 8th February 2024: the screen went blank, sound was lost and I could not switch it on again. It failed to come back on when I followed the sequences for a Factory Reset and was just outside the Sony 1-year warranty. Fortunately the TV is covered by the John Lewis 5-year Guarantee, so I contacted them on the 9th February and an engineer has now visited to inspect the TV and report his findings to John Lewis. Until the TV failed, we were really delighted with the sharpness of the picture, the colours were really impressive and, since I have Hearing Aids, the multi screen speakers enabled me to hear the dialogues very clearly. I await John Lewis’ decision and hope that my TV is a very unusual event: you would appreciate that at this moment I find it difficult to recommend this product to a friend and have reluctantly given 2 stars for performance.

I find the oled has a dark picture when the shows go to night time. It is hard to tell what is happening from the picture. I turned the tv to the vivid so the picture would be brighter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bravia XR TV Purchased several weeks ago, picture is excellent and sound is very good compare to previous Sony, but obviously not as good as 5.1 surround sound. Menus take some getting used to as there are three different TV Guides depending on the mode the TV is in, i.e. TV, TV recorder or You View TV. The big disappointment is the external USB recorder function. Not only does it only record one channel but not all of the recorded programs display a program title. This does not happen on my old Humax and Panasonic recorder products and makes it so annoying to use that I have given up using it and gone back to the older products.

The metal remote which is backlit at night is a great idea, but the other black plastic remote is possibly to small for us. We did opt buy another larger Sony remote which was the same as our last Sony TV.

Audio is pretty good and adjusting settings is easy. Perfect size for small bedroom. The small remote takes a little getting use to for a senior adult. May have to get a universal remote for easier use for her. But, I’ve been a Sony owner for years and this TV didn’t disappoint and will last for a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp picture and outperformed other OLED TV’s loo Bought a new Sony 48’ Oled as our old TV died and decided to go for a more up market based on the pictures we saw at the TV showroom. We did wonder whether we would have the same picture quality as the showroom as often TV’s are put in showroom mode to sell. This really is good and no different to what we saw. My only critique is I think it will be wise to buy a sound bar as I watched Wind River DVD and struggled to hear the voices so had to turn the volume right up. I would recommend this model as it has lots of extra’s and bells and whistles without making it difficult to navigate, its pretty intuitive which shows consideration for the end user..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good tv with some annoying features tv has a some annoying features! on the freesat guide the tv has a annoying Bleep as you scroll up or down the page also there are too many stations on each page making it very difficult to read the print on screen ,my old tv had the option of altering the amount of stations per page so you could make the print larger on each guide page! the Sony tv has a very good picture with a reasonable sound quality. If it did not have these annoying features I would have given it 4star + but for the price it’s a very expensive tv at £1400. only time will tell if it lasts long enough to become a good buy. For the price it could have come with a sound bar to improve the performance of the sound! only good feature above other make tv is the internet is fast on this sony tv!,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible picture, contrast, and features This TV has the best picture quality I've seen. Pitch dark blacks, vibrant colors, and excellent detail. Super easy to set up out of the box and fairly customizable if you want to. Only complaint is pretty average built in speakers, but if you're an audiophile then you probably already have a sound system to use with it and either way a sound bar will always be an improvement over stock speakers. Beautiful image, highly recommend this tv.

The only problem I have is that google takes over the t.v.. I wish I had bought something that does not rely on google and their spying of what I watch. It just keeps popping up and spying and storing and reporting. Friggen pop-up google themed and supported adds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blown away by this tv! I initially got this Sony A90K Bravia Oled Smart tv for our guest room. But once it was all set up and ready, not only I was blown away by the quality and clarity of picture and amazing sound quality, but I decided to put it in our bedroom and replace our current one who is less than a year old. We currently have 5 tv in our home and had a few different ones in the past, but by far, this Sony is the best! Stands tall and secure in the stand that came with, the remote lights up as soon as you touch it which is a great feature to have in the dark, or at night. Do yourself a favor and if you're in search of a smart tv, get this one and you'll be convinced it was the best choice. Impeccable picture quality!

Pros: easy to set up the tv, works well, amazing quality, sharp/clear pictures/color, looks really nice Cons: challenging to get the stand together, requires two people to get it out of the box The A90K Bravia XR Master Series OLED 4K Ultra HD Google Smart TV is really nice! This TV is a little challenging to get out of the box and setup but it otherwise works great and the quality is stunning. This TV came packaged extremely well with all of the important setup information in the top of the box. The instructions for how to set up the TV stand and remove it from the box aren’t straightforward. I found the instructions left a lot to be desired as far as positions for the pieces of the stand. Thankfully they really only can go one way. This TV is very heavy and requires two people to get it out of the box and onto the stand. You also need your own Philips screwdriver. Once together this TV is so easy and straightforward to setup. You turn it on and the being to follow the on-screen prompts. I was able to set it up as a google TV right from my phone, making the entire process seamless. The entire setup took awhile due to the number of apps you need to download. Once the setup is done it’s ready to watch. The picture quality is crisp, stunning, and ultra-clear. The quality is outstanding. I’m overly impressed with how nice the quality is on this TV. The remote is also super easy to use and the TV is very easy to navigate. All in all, this is an extremely nice TV. While it is a little challenging to get the stand together, it is very easy to set up the TV and the TV works extremely well. I would absolutely recommend it!

I also was looking for a excellent Picture, Sound and easy to use features which I found in the Bravia A90k. I am looking forward to pairing this with a Sony soundbar with rear speakers in the future for complete 360 sound as I like watching Movies. Also looking forward to watching movies through the Bravia Core Streaming Movie Service for a complete theater experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great picture The picture on this TV is absolutely stunning. I’ve never seen anything so crystal clear and crisp. Set up was easy. You can go through your Google account or not. All of the apps that you need are right there on the front page. Extremely easy to use and operate - the part they gave me the most difficulty was putting the base on the bottom of the TV simply because I’m not good at that type of thing. Even the remote control is beautiful. This is my first Sony TV and I am extremely impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stellar picture, almost perfect As far as setup and viewing goes, this TV is beautiful. It’s not difficult to figure out the interface or sign into all of your favorite apps. The inputs are easy to access and the options are easy to customize. I like the power saving features and the notifications direct you to some of the unique options this TV has as well. The sound has a very interesting setup that I’ve never encountered before; you sit where you usually view the TV, hold the remote up to your chest and it can direct the sound towards that optimal position. Although the motion smoothing is default on new TVs (and really just give me motion sickness), it’s similarly easy to turn off. My one big complaint is that most of the inputs face down. This is a minor annoyance if you’re using the included stand (which is also beautiful, by the way) but I really struggled to squat underneath and plug in my game consoles and optical cable. Alternately, you can plug the cables in prior to mounting and into the devices/consoles later but this also means any new addition will suffer from the same problem. I’m sure this is a difficult issue to work with, side facing inputs for wall mounts vs customer who find it easier to hide them if they are vertical, but for the purposes of a review for the wall mounting crowd, this is a big contender for whether a TV is more convenient for them. As is, wired connections will always be a minor frustration for this one. As far as performance of the TV itself, it’s Sony and they’re still my number one. I’m a PlayStation loyalist and I always look at Sony products first when looking for my next best tech upgrade. Also adding that I love the remote. It has a really solid back and a great weight, textured to not slip around in my hand which is a feature a lot of remotes don’t have. I look forward to browsing Bravia Core, which I’m new to but on inspection, it looks like a terrific app. I definitely think this delivers as a great gaming TV and terrific picture overall, just wish the inputs were mounter friendly!

I set it up with the help of my daughter in order to surprise him when he got home. Once he saw the amazing picture quality, he didn’t need any more convincing. The picture is so sharp and clear, colors are vibrant, and being able to see a clear picture from the side is amazing! We’re all in love with it! It was easy to understand the directions to attach it to the stand, and I love that it allows you to add risers to accommodate a sound bar. I love that the back has snap on covers that allow me to hide the attached components like fire sticks and hdmi cords. It keeps the mantle looking neat and cord free. It also keeps the components from gathering dust. Another plus is the ability to use one remote. The included remote synced with my fire stick, so I don’t have to go searching around when I want to use it. It’s been a joy getting to know this tv and I look forward to watching it for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Picture and Sound This TV is fantastic. The printed set up guide was easy to understand and follow even though it was just pictures and no wording. I love that it has a center base so that I don't have to worry about having a stand long enough for a large screen TV. The base is metal and it has some good weight to it so it is very stable and you won't have to worry about it moving or tipping off your TV stand. There is a booklet included that explains what the icons on the remote do since there are no words on the remote just icons. I really like that the remote lights up as soon as you put it in your hand. It is very easy to adjust the settings to your liking and there are a lot of settings. The picture quality is really good, much better then the other TV's in the house. The color is perfect and accurate. The sound quality is great. I highly recommend this Sony Bravia MASTER Series XR48A90K 4K Ultra HDR OLED Google TV, the picture quality is the best I have ever seen.

And the motion processing is a step behind others like Samsung and LG . The peak brightness is average. I returned my Sony for a Samsung S95B only a little more $ for a whole lot more of a tv. Very glad I did. It’s my honest opinion that if you have the opportunity to get the Samsung S95B instead you will be really happy with it. It’s bigger , much brighter has better color, quantum dots and most important the motion processing is noticeably smoother.

The sound is really good for tv speakers. HDR is outstanding and for the movies with Dolby vision amazing!!! Now for the most exciting part of this tv hooking it up to my PlayStation 5. The graphics and color will wow you. You won’t be disappointed if you get this tv for your PlayStation 5 once you plug the ps5 in it pretty much optimizes the tv for it. Great product.

I just want a brilliant TV not a neon light! Master Series, 4K, legit 120Hrz, OLED, 2 HDMI 2.1’s, a ton of options, really like a CPU, set up voice, works beautifully, bundled with stealth mount, got $100 off basically launch eventhough the price keeps dropping so happy with my purchase. High quality TV. Pairs beautifully with my PS5. PS5 & Sony marketed this together, that’s why i was so excited. Usually when they do that it’s a small budget tv, loved that they did it with a superstar TV. Sony continues to be the class of the market. Plus the staff is wonderful, informative, willing to give you great product info vs. Samdung really pushed too hard for the sale and I wasn’t comfortable with their answers on dirty screen, and blooming The installer had a new Samdung on his truck I asked him about it and he said yea it’s a replacement something was wrong with it. That was the exact model I was shopping. Made me feel good knowing I paid a little more for the superior quality with Sony. I also bundled the tv with the stealth mount, for a discount, so sexy, demoed at Best Buy ohh, gotta have that! Beautiful picture for TV, no dark room issues, beautiful for gaming, just a brilliant TV. Thank you Sony. Now if I can just get you to stop banning me on PlayStation, PSN: MoultonHawk, this is the third time and I have no idea why 2/3 of them were from honestly. Wonderful products and services!

The resolution is unbelievable, the OLED technology really goes above and beyond anything else I’ve had. Having built in features like google tv is awesome. The tv is super slim and looks so sharp mounted on the wall. The sound is clean and crisp I honestly don’t need a sound bar but it doesn’t hurt. Response time or loading time between apps or inputs is fast some tvs are laggy but I haven’t had an issue with this yet .. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a high quality, sharp looking and epic tv experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Setup is a breeze I’ve never purchased a Sony tv before this. I am amazed at the visual difference it has over other brands. It has such a clear crisp screen that looks amazing in the dark as well as daylight. One of the small things I really like that I haven’t had before is the lighted remote. When watching tv in the dark I can clearly see what buttons I need to push without guessing. The quick app features on the bottom of the remote make it easy to switch an app quickly and effortlessly. After all the different tv’s I have had the Sony brand by far the best and super easy to set up. Looks beautiful mounted on the wall! It’s a very heavy tv but it just shows the quality and details put into it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible results and quality I'm a Samsung user and this is my first Sony TV, and there are several good things I just found on this TV better than my previous Samsung 4K. The principal and most important is how good is the resolution of this new Sony Bravia, I try to share some pictures because is really impressive, the colors, the lights, it is sharp and clear. Something adicional that impress me was the audio, even though I'll use a Soundbar with this TV, the quality of the sound of this TV is awesome, much better than many others. The quality of manufacturing of this TV is superior, they pay attention to the details, even on the back this TV is well designed, having some lids to cover all cables con outlets. The configuration was very easy and fast, and is really amazing thst it has Google TV incorporated. The only complaint so far is that the remote control can not control the Volume of my Soundbar if they are connected witj BT, because the TV remote control is also BT. But everything else is amazing and with high quality.

Cut the cable and finding my way through streaming and a HD antenna. Remote stopped working after 2 months...still turns on TV and voice command but other button functions ions. Still under warranty, so we'll see how that goes...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great TV, good all-round performance Back in the day, before LCD, LED, Plasma etc; Sony was considered the last name in TV (if not electronics generally) – think ‘Trinitron’, and of course broadcast / CCTV Control Rooms etc; all used Sony monitors. Somewhere along the line, they seemed to have lost their way a little, falling behind the 2 x most prominent these days (Samsung and LG), brands that ironically used to be considered at the ‘budget’ end. Shame really, since the quality of Sony products are just as superb…… My previous (more recent) experience (older LED TV, and AVR) with Sony has been a little bit love / hate. Why? Although excellent quality, I’ve found Sony products to be unintuitive, with baffling remote control layout / symbols, and equally non user-friendly User Interface and instructions. This TV, I have to say, in that respect is the polar opposite, it really is superb. Unpacking was easy and straightforward, as you’d expect. The ‘bits and pieces’ slotted in the top polystyrene protective section. The TV stand is excellent, with adjustable height (2 x settings) for if you are using with a sound-bar. I have wall-mounted… Something to be aware of: The VESA configuration is 300mm, and not the more common 200mm. If you are wall-mounting, ensure the bracket is suitable – to be fair most are suitable for all, up to 400mm, but better to be sure! The TV has the VESA bolts already in-situ, so it’s just a case of attaching the bracket etc. The TV, upon unpacking, feels quality, not flimsy, quite akin to Samsung (I tend to find LG TVs a little flimsy in build). So, onto installing. Bearing in mind this is being wall-mounted, as will be the case for very many, I have no doubt at all, the first (and realistically, only major gripe) is the power cord. Unlike other manufacturers’ TVs I have (I have other LG and Samsung TVs), this one is fixed, and NOT removable IEC type (C5, C7 etc), meaning you are unable to use a longer, more suitable one (2 or 3m). Fine if you have a wall-mounted socket outlet behind the TV – most don’t, or indeed want. The lead with this one is only 1.5m, and not only that, connects into the opposite side of the TV to all components, meaning realistically, for neatness, you’ll want to route across to the other side, so all down-connecting leads can be contained together. Such a simple thing to overcome had they just put a little more thought into it! Therefore, extension block is needed. You could cut the flex and join an extended one, tucking the joint behind, but that would invalidate the warranty. Connections. Very comprehensive, and full marks to Sony for making them downward (with a small number sideward) facing, and in a recessed section, making it really easy to connect, and enabling a slimline bracket fixing (unlike LG TVs that rearward face, meaning you have to use spacers with the bracket – ridiculous!) Even angled connectors you can buy make little difference, and still impede. So connections, all good then. Slight niggle. Aside from the slightly awkward dragging the power cord across the back (a little duct tape helps!), since only 3 of the 4 x HDMI connections are at the rear, downward facing, the fourth has to connect into the side. The natural thing to do, is to bring round the side, and contain with the others downward. Since it is logical people would want to do this, a suitable notch in the removable cowl section that covers the connection area would have been sensible, enabling routeing under the cowl, rather than over it. Not the end of the world though!. Now for the big moment (drum-roll….) – set-up. As noted, I had a liberal amount of trepidation, based upon previous experiences. Aside from a little chicken and egg with remote control set-up / sound optimising, setting up was a breeze. As poor as I had previously found Sony, was as good as I found this. I can honestly say it was a breeze, really easy, and well-structured. Like anything with the amount of features and functions this has, you’ll go back afterwards and ‘play around’ with it. The TV comes with 2 x remote controls, both excellent, one being metal cased with speech tx, that also illuminates when picked up. Nice touch!!. Unfortunately unlike my LG and Samsung TVs, there is no ‘air-mouse’ functionality. Speaking of Remote controls, batteries are provided for both (2 x AAA each which is good), BUT….. one pack is standard, the other alkaline. Seriously, we’re talking pennies, why not both sets Alkaline? That aside, what REALLY made me laugh, is that Sony (who have their own range of battery products) supplied……. Get this, PANASONIC batteries! Oops, epic fail there, lads! Now here comes a perhaps unexpected observation: Sony need to get their act together with the product description, and blow their own trumpet. This is way better featured than the description implies. My biggest surprise, and WHAT a surprise, is that this sucker has built-in YouView (easy to attach an external HDD if you want to record). I do mean proper, FULL-FAT YouView, the interface and scroll-back exactly the same as a YouView box, absolutely AWESOME!! Anyone that is familiar with it knows how good it easy, much better than messing about with catch up apps, and a Zillion times better than most manufacturer ‘Freeview Play’ functions. Although we have Sky Q, and that is excellent, it’s pants trying to use for Terrestrial catch-up. This really is brilliant. There are plenty of apps, including all the usual suspects, BUT, this TV has the WORST internet browser of any I’ve tried. Unintuitive, poor, sluggish, and frankly useless. However, for me, I don’t use anyway, having never found them brilliant (although this one is particularly bad). I use HTPCs for TVs, so won’t use that function anyway. Using the TV. As you’d expect, the it performs extremely well, being OLED, it’s an exceptionally good picture. However, is it markedly better than my 65” Samsung QLED? No, but it is as good as. Even though OLED is supposed to be way better at dealing with black / very dark images, it performs better than my LG Nanocell, but again no better than my Samsung. Don’t see that as a negative, since the Samsung is a hard act to follow! So picture-wise, all good, very pleased. 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision all performed well. I’ve never found upscaling to be useful, or an improvement particularly so certainly won’t comment on that. Sound. Whilst the TV lacks a little bass depth, to be fair, exactly as you’d expect, the sound is incredibly clear, with decent volume without distortion. Whilst for my main (65” Samsung) we use a Denon ATMOS system, and a second 55” LG using a SONY Home Cinema (7.2) set-up, so sound is awesome as you’d expect, this is in the study. The sound is more than acceptable, and in my view not in need of a sound bar etc. It’s claimed to somehow use the screen as a speaker, well, I’m just interested in is it any good. The answer to that is yes, it’s very good for in-built sound, clearly above average. So then, all-round a super package? Yes, to this point…… The ‘fun’ (the word fun being used somewhat sarcastically), was just beginning. The Sony website is an absolute abomination. Totally un-navigable, and most definitely NOT user-friendly. I spent forever trying to find warranty information to verify that it’s actually registered, and recorded for extended warranty. Absolute nightmare. After trying to use the web-assistant (who referred me to a phone number…..), I went back to what I had eventually found where you have to enter details to check the warranty (part of which being the serial number). The serial number was not on the box, or anywhere else I could find, but was shown in the settings ‘about’ section. Fine, thinks I…..The problem is the serial number has twice as many characters as you can enter. Eventually, I decided to count how many characters you can enter (7), so entered the last 7 numbers. This worked! Why not say ‘please enter last seven numbers’?? Eureka, up comes the warranty end date etc. 5 years from now? NO!! Try this: 31/02/2025! So, a little under 2 ½ years then….. I could phone, but unfortunately I’ve lost the will to live. To add insult to injury, great play is made of the function Bravia Core (movies etc), except there’s no way of actually activating it without some code. The trouble is, you can’t register for the service without it, and there’s no way of finding it. Web-search? Do me a favour, more smoke and mirrors. Right now, I’ve given up, worn down, but may revisit and grit my teeth and try and contact Sony, but for now…… I’ll make do without it! UPDATE to this part: When I subsequently re-opened the app, the ‘code’ had been mysteriously populated, and set up easily. However, what a let down! I expected it to be a bit like Prime or Netflix, but it’s dull with very little content, so won’t be bothering with that! In summary, generally speaking a super telly, but oh, that ridiculously short power-lead, and awful website, and associated issues there. A shame really. In spite of all that, I can honestly recommend this product.

The picture quality is a major step up from a standard 4k model as the blacks and colours are remarkable. Great for gaming aswell. The adjustable stand is also an excellent feature as I can fit my Sonos beam perfectly underneath so it isn’t blocking the sensor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bravia A90K Review I was pleased with my new TV using Google TV until I tried to connect my Sony Digital Video camera using the AV socket on the side of the TV. The camera output was 3 RCA male plugs. The TV input was a 3.5mm four section plug. I required a 3 RCA female socket to 3.5mm plug lead. I contacted Sony Support to source a suitable lead which used to be supplied with the TV. After 6 emails between Sony and I, I was told that "The TV was not designed to be used in the way that you are referring to". I would advise any purchasers to recognise that the AV socket on the side of the TV is not fit for purpose and unsupported for connection of audio visual devices. I will now rethink my long standing support of Sony electonics!

I was a little wary as a couple mentioned the complicated set-ups, but I was really surprised at how easy it was. It's true that there are lots of settings options, some of which I really don't understand(!) but tbh the auto settings and a few tweaks of obvious stuff (brightness, contrast - y'know, old-fashioned stuff!) have given me a truly great picture - particularly after I realised I should have been watching the World Cup on the HD channels! I was also told by friends that I'd really need a soundbar but again I was surprised: the sound is very good as is, in my opinion. The walls might not shake with bass, but that's a good thing! All-in-all, while it wasn't the cheapest of options, I'm over-the-moon with the purchase.

I have to say the picture is fantastic. Full disclosure, I'm a bit of a Sony fanboy. This is the 3rd large Sony TV bought in the last couple of years, but even against the other screens in the house, this picture is super clear, even on the low power setting (let's face it with the price of energy these days low power is going to be the setting used most often). It was easy to set up, I love the grey remote (it came with two) as this has the important buttons for day-to-day and lights up so you can see the buttons when you've been playing a lot longer than you planned and the room has gone dark. Sound seems to be great straight out of the box too, you can actually hear the stereo effects, although I plan to add a soundbar later (it comes with risers to lift the main unit so the soundbar can sit below the screen). its a little more than some other screens of the same size, but you get what you pay for in life.

I have purchased high-end and flagship Sony TVs over 4 decades, and spent much money on professional tuning and calibrations, and the image quality of the A90K is not as amazing as many claim. The engine is quick and with almost every setting feature turned off, the A90K delivers acceptable video across the genres and video types. The faults and imperfections range from negligible to minimal across the various content thrown at it such as Netflix UHD, Sky UHD, Prime UHD, BBC iPlayer HD/SD, and from Android's Google cast to YouTube from 720p and 2160p. Without getting technical and going into a deep dive, the price of the A90K 48in. and the expected performance of this Sony Master Series, leaves you quite underwhelmed. Pre-configured 'professional' panel settings should not demand a high price tag. There have been many LCD, LED and OLED previous panels from Sony which do a superb job at much reduced (prorated) cost point. Think carefully about the money if you are torn with other brands such as LG and Samsung. You may wish to push you money harder for increased size, more features or special offers which give you more for the A90K pricing. Lastly, Sony has removed cost from its panel it would seem. The build quality seems 'just good enough' and in a few places does look cheap. The Sony logo does not illuminate but first you have to find it (bottom, left side of bezel). Additionally, when the light hits the gun-metal bezel finish, it appear corrugated as if the panel was gently twisted, instead of a smooth, equal reflective finish. In short, the A90K may as well look like a supermarket brand, and you would be none the wiser. Come on Sony - you didn't give me an awful lot of 'premium' for the premium price you charged me!

I didn’t want a huge tv as my living room doesn’t warrant one and feel that this tv is plenty big enough, the whole package including the remote is quality and I would highly recommend it.

The sound bar doesn't work when the TV is getting its signal direct from the aerial socket: it defaults to the TV's speakers. The sound bar works fine with all the other inputs eg blue ray player, BBC iPlayer programs.

Picture is fabulous but a little dark for daytime viewing. Sound is good but improved with a sound bar. Some controls are difficult to find. And remote isn't the best. Picture is pretty good considering most daily viewing is terrestrial television channels. Have been very disappointed with the compatibility with our Sky Q box, specifically the remote control. I don’t think I should need to use two remotes to control the TV and the Sky Box. My old TV that this set replaces would communicate with the Sky box without issue and that’s over 7 years old. I’ve had advice on what to change but nothing has worked. I don’t think it should be that hard to have one removed so both jobs. I don’t understand how Sky can be defined as the TV section but the Sony remote can’t control guide and channels, only volume. Likewise the Sky remote can’t be configured to turn the TV off. How can they not be more compatible in this day and age? Just disappointed for a TV that cost four time the price of my old set this reolaces.

I originally considered the XR-55A84K but it was too big, so I assumed Sony would be producing a 48" version, it being the most popular TV size in the UK. I have to say, it was well worth the wait. It was relatively easy to instal (although information as to which numbers the HDMI inputs have would be useful), and starts up really fast. My old Sony took ages. The picture quality is absolutely superb, and the sound, albeit through a Sony sound bar from my old TV, is an improvement over the old model. I also like the remote; the buttons are illuminated for a short period when it's picked up; very useful in poor light.

I love the HDMI 2.1 connectivity. I am not really a Google user, so default Google TV interface is not great. Once you have logged in to Netflix etc. all works great. I wish there was a OSD option to quickly and easily tell you the current source display and audio (i.e. 4k, Atmos), etc.?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great picture, non-intuitive operation The image quality cannot be faulted. It is clear, crisp and detailed. Contrast range is immense and dark images are watchable, even in bright sunlight. However, as with many Sony products, its operation is non-intuitive. I think they have tried to simplify the remote control operation too much and as such they have made its operation for less technical people than myself (and I know my way around user manuals pretty well)… somewhat challenging! I know there is a lot of technology in modern devices but manufacturers must work out a way for people of all abilities to operate it. Let people design the user interface, not tech boffins who write the code behind it. Then there is post-initial-setup configuration. This is a complete nightmare. I thought I would let it do its own basic initial setting up and then add my soundbar and TV input setup until after. Big mistake! This TV simply would not talk to my soundbar until after I did a factory reset. It now works fine but I was moments away from purchasing a new soundbar when someone suggested plugging it in during setup. THEN, there is the default actions. I am yet to work out how to select a different input at switch on after I had initially configured it for my BT box on HDMI 4. Sometimes it starts with this, sometimes it is Freeview but mostly it starts with the Google home screen. I am getting fed up with my wife yelling at me to change the input because she cannot see it on the screen. I have the behaviour set to “Last Input”, but it seems to behave like a magic 8-ball and choose a random input of its own choosing. The product is saved by the image quality; which is exceptional. The TV speakers are pretty good, but it does need a sound bar and woofer. If the TV speakers are pumped up or the base is set too high, the screen will start rattling. This has only happened once as I fear it will damage the OLED screen. But they are acceptable for standard TV watching. Great TV but poor operation.

The quality of the picture is absolutely fantastic and amazing quality. For anybody thinking about purchasing this product, I would definitely recommend. Plenty of features too and easy to set up. The 48 inch screen is a perfect size for most lounges very discreet but remarkable when it is on. I have always liked Sony and they have designed another quality item. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not as good as expected I have add this for 6 weeks but really disappointed with it, I had an issue with the picture keep going going down in brightness, I contacted Sony and John lewis a number of times but got no help. I solved it by switching off contrast enhancement. Also the sound isn't brilliant, after use sub titles on films have add to purchase a sound bar to help.I would return it if I could.

Complete manual available on your website provides a reasonable insight into the many options available. Using the voice prompt can be a bit troublesome at times when changing channels. Using my separate Apple 4K TV for Apple Music works ok once I sorted out which controller to use!

I think having a Google account helped with this, but I did not have to go through adding wifi codes etc because it was all taken from my Google account. It automatically set itself up for my PS5 as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great TV Replaced an approx 15-year old Panasonic of similar size which still all worked but we were looking for better picture and sound and the ability to have flexible access to Freeview, Freesat, the usual apps and connected Humax recorder. So far 2 weeks in and very impressed. Picture is excellent and sound appears good enough to not need a sound bar. Unpacking would have been a lot easier if the stand had been designed to be capable of being installed on the base of the TV whilst the TV was still mostly in the box - but the TV is presented with the top at the box opening end so you have to slide the whole thing out (or rip the box up) to install the stand. One of those design things that the designers obviously didn't even consider. Once assembled setup was easy but I wish Sony would make their full manuals downloadable pdfs rather than only web-based. But the product itself appears great.

As I opted for Android set up rather than standard TV it was a little more complicated. Access to Bravia Core streaming is an added bonus. The only negative was trying to register the TV to get the 5 year guarantee. It took 5 days and endless emails as the Web site did not allow me to input most of the required info.

The picture quality is unbelievable and the colours are incredible. A million miles away from my last one. The smart features are great and can get all the apps without additional hardware. The menus are a little confusing at first but I am getting to grips with the features now. One aspect I am very pleased with is the standard sound, much clearer than my previous tv. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase so far.

The only problem was getting the screws into the base as although it states you require a screwdriver it does not state it should be a magnetic screwdriver as the location is at the bottom of 4 holes and unless your screwdriver is magnetic you will struggle to locate the screws holes.

The sound stands out as especially clear for voice but punchy when needed. Good realistic colour balance on standard settings; the occasional green field looks too vivid but even professional cameras vary a little. No lag at all, great for watching Wimbledon.

The OLED screen is far superior to our old standard Bravia, with great control over colours, contrast etc.. The only down side is that it has been impossible to get rid of the info. banners ( to avoid burn in of the pixels) even with info banner turned off in the menu. The TV even throws up info banners of its own which seems crazy as Sony tell you to avoid these if you can. Owing to the fact that these are impossible to get rid of we have to watch all sport on zoom! This is even worse as zoom is not available when you are watching in UHD.

What I don't like about it is the small remote control, with tiny buttons. The YouView Guide is a pain which is too easy to enable and I much prefer th native Sony Guide, which can be difficult to regain after the YouView has accidentally been triggered. While I normally use terrestial TV, I have found setting up of general satellite reception, near impossible. I miss not having the BBC Text menu..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bravia XR 48 A90K - Excellent TV & Features I have had this for a month now and no complaints so far, digital catch-up runs via Google TV which is similar to android TV. Picture quality is really good and the different colour modes available range from natural colours to brighter modes suitable for all viewing types. The sound quality on the TV is a little lower then the last Sony TV but this is designed to be paired with a sound bar which i will do the near future, sound in general is very clear and again there are various modes available to suite. The TV comes with two remotes, a simple one without numbers which charges automatically (apparently) and another standard remote. I've also connected my ps5 to the TV and the quality is as expected. Only wish I could pause catch-up tv, but I never had this feature on my old TV so can't really complain. There is an option to add a memory drive for recording which I haven't tried yet so this may solve the solve the above issue.

However, I despise Google as the controlling software for streaming, etc. My only complaint is the remote control — it is worthless for controlling multiple devices. And, when I turned off the television, it randomly powers on after 3, 5 or 10 minutes. I replaced a 15+ years old Bravia XBR with this unit, I still love Sony TVs but this one could have been tweaked to be much better. If your additional devices are newer and/or smart, you may get a different experience.

Shame about USB record Impressed by image definition and contrary to reports, I found the image very bright and have turned it down from the default. Sound is OK, but an external amp and speakers / subwoofer is required if you want a cinema experience. Only disappointment is discovering buried in a Sony FAQ that using the YouView programme guide in the UK means a hard drive cannot be connected to the USB port for programme recording.

It's absolutely not intuitive and things that should be easy tothere's no The Google search searches the internet - useful when I want to but doesn't help. There are two remotes - the simple one and the more functional one but it doesn't seem to have some of the buttons of the first so one ends up do can't be done at all (as far as I can tell). There is no manual and the built-in help is awful. It relates to several models so much doesn't apply; it's virtually impossible to navigate and searching doesn't bring up anything relevant. Recording to an HDD is extremely cumbersome and after hours of trying and searching I have still found no way to search the Guide. Maybe there is a way but I am at a loss to find it. Before I can set up a recording I have to know the date and time of the programme. I can't find a way to start recording a programme I am watching - why isn't there a record button? And I can't find a way to pause live tv. Yuck! Try searching the internet for help and most of the answers apply to another model or to Youview but not as installed on the TV. For instance, YouView website states I can install an app from Google Play Store on Android TVs but the TV's Google Play Store on this Google TV doesn't list it! This is an expensive TV and needs some serious re-working of its interface. We are really disappointed because the screen and sound are so good. Not sure whether we'll keep it or return it

We bought it in our local Currys store where we had excellent customer service from a very knowledgeable assistant -this gave us thd courage to buy the TV there and then and we haven’t looked back . The TV lives up to the Sony reputation of being top knotch on all levels and even for us ‘none techie’ individuals, it is very easy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cannot Fault Firstly the set-up is easy, straight out the box, plug-in and follow the start-up guide, Once you hook-up to the internet, which is wireless by the way, its practically done. then it's just a case of signing up to the apps required (iPlayer, Prime Video, Netflix etc). Picture is superb, pin-sharp and everything you've read about the "black screen moments" on OLED TV's is true, pure black, not the slightest flicker. Remote is great, and the added backlight is a real help in a dim-lit room while watching a movie. If I'm being picky the guide to help you fix the TV stand onto the TV could have been clearer and as some of the screw holes are in a deep recess, a magnetic screwdriver is a MUST. Works great with a A3000 3:1 Soundbar but will probably add a Subwoofer at a later stage. But all in all a great TV, not the cheapest out there obviously, but like many things in life you get what you pay for and, honestly, how often do you change your TV.

It was decided to continue with service sone years ago due the the strength of feeling from the mature age group. Live in hope this feature can be downloaded and integrated into the TV software is the immediate future. The teletext feature has been on all previous TVs I have owned all of which have been Sony. The TV remote supplied with the TV includes a teletext button.

On the whole the image quality is amazing especially on Netflix and Disney+ (with Dolby Vision and Imax Enhanced settings). There are other times when over processing makes scenes look too much like it was shot with green screen cgi even with basic tv programmes. People walking down the street but you can't believe the background? TV linked with Sony surround system but this does not always work well together but it should be 100% compatible to my mind from the same company. Experience so far has been great to disappointing. Having spent over £1200 i expected far better. Twice the price of previous TV which was also a Sony. Smart functionality ok but tv does switch itself on and off which others experience (reading online) and Bravia Core (sony app) also plays up and doesn't always work. Again i expect better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the best We brought this tv after slot of research, our initial choice was Samsung but after visiting John Lewis we were persuaded to buy Sony, the thing with John Lewis is you get the real facts about all brands but with no loyalty and no bias. A truly great tv, superb picture quality and great colour, very easy to set up, and the remotes were also easy to use, we also found the online help pages at Sony very helpful and easy to access, overall very very impressed and if your budget allows definitively buy it, and if not then stretch your budget because you will not be disappointed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size and fine quality We bought this after moving home and had just a small 32” set that was in our dining room but looked very small now but agin,super size would not fit so this 48” is perfect. It is highly specified and on demonstration with Blue Ray disk, gives wonderful results. On a normal aerial, that quality is lost but with a BT TV box, we can get superb pictures. It is not the fault of the set that very few broadcasts show its abilities but when available, it is an outstanding image. The sound is fully configurable and no real need for a sound bar but it is not “HiFi” but better than most. Over all I’m impressed and recommend it but it is a premium price and others might be as good in most situations and at alowrrpricepoint.

I have my PS5 hooked up to it and again the Picture quality is amazing. Highly recommend the TV….Couple of down points….far to small a remote..why supply two as well? And Not the easiest operating system

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Picture - Terrible Google TV The picture quality is excellent, no more to say, perfect for my situation (mostly watch at night, indoors, not in direct sunlight). The problem is with the Google TV / Android Implementation. (I have contacted support regarding this, but no response) Problem 1. Storage is very limited (around 4GB) and cannot be expanded using USB etc. This means you are very limited in what you can install on the TV itself. Very annoying as it appears Sony have deliberately disabled this functionality. Problem 2. The NIC (Network card) is only 100Mbps - it 1000 has been standard for many years now

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A 90k Bravia XR OLED So 3 weeks in and I can now give a proper review. Set up including connecting a recording box and dvd very straight forward. Settings are very intuitive. After a few days of viewing set the colour balance sound and dynamic picture options to our preference again very intuitive. Unbelievable picture quality on all of the HD channels. Great picture on non HD channels. Sound quality is great as the screen forms part of the speaker system. And as for the OLED effect it is true the black is really black. I really do consider the product is worth it’s premium price tag

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Contrast & Resolution! Sony picture quality is the best! I used the HDMI ARC to connect a Sonos Soundbar. I have two rear speakers and a bass speaker. Sony makes it so easy to simply plug and play! I sold an Apple TV Box 4k since I did not want to sacrifice DOLBY ATMOS sound (requires HDMI ARC connection). With optical connection to sound bar I believe you are limited to Dolby 5.1. However, it's easy to stream via Google Chromecast. I stream XFinity/Comcast from my iPhone using Chromecast. It's pretty easy. However, I have had an annoying issue of TV freezing. I have to unplug the set and reconnect. I suspect this may be an XFinity / Chromecast App issue. I may simply get an X1 TV box to rectify this issue. Apple 4K TV Box required HDMI ARC. Therefore, you can't run Sonos / Apple 4K Box together. You can't beat Sony's picture quality! More natural skin tones and great contrast!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal picture quality as only Sony can do Sony are in the game a long time and their experience and development shines through. I can't overstate the quality of this TV. The picture is next level. OLED technology is already fantastic but it's how Sony have put it together in this package which stands out from the rest. The software is intuitive, it's fast to respond and the features are brilliant. It looks simple and elegant and while I would have preferred something that felt a little slimmer (because of OLED technology and how thin you can make a TV), I realise the trade off has been to include excellent sound. Put this TV in Cinema mode - you wont be disappointed. Just fantastic. A 5 year parts/labor warranty included too - try get that somewhere else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A picture made perfect After reading many reviews and viewing several on-line videos, I was convinced that there was only one "current, premium, 48 inch TV" for me to purchase. That was the Bravia A90K. The general appearance exuded quality and the "settings" options available are comprehensive enough to achieve a perfect picture. The A90K provides all the input options for the average user and all required cables could be nicely tidied away - especially with the variable stand in it's lowest position. You must have guessed that I am delighted with my purchase and would recommend it whole heartedly. My only frustration was not having a basic user guide supplied with the TV. However, on-line manuals and help are in abundance which meant "set-up" proved straightforward.

So far the only thing that let's it down is the poor volume, I have to turn it up considerably, a separate sound bar or hi-fi system would be considered a necessary accessory. I am still in the process of reading the instruction manual. If you have a shop demo try listening to the TV without any hi-fi equipment enhancing the sound.

However I note that the display screen is LG and hence does not power off at the set but at the power point on the wall which is not easily accessible. In addition I also get confusing messages on screen warning of damage to screen if not powered down after say six hours use. Otherwise completely happy with the product.

Frustrated to find digital channel subtitles ok size but not on the HD channel it is too small. HD channel has better picture quality and I feel cheated that I cannot use it because the subtitles setting does not allow me to set the HD channel larger. A big let down in that contacting for help on this is very very poor. SONY please comply with the Equality Act and allow deaf users to get help with this. Television is great but that is one big let down. Cannot recommend this to deaf consumers

The picture quality is brilliant, with various modes to enhance the sound, picture colour etc to what the induvial requires. Various links to Prime, Netflix. Google Tv are readily available. Overall a very Technical and enjoyable Television with a on screen set-up programme so I installed and set-up the set by myself with no problems..

It avoided the extra cost of a sound bar, which would have been needed to enhance the poor quality sound of the others. Disadvantages to OLED include ’burn in’ from static images (like channel logos) but we considered this was a small disadvantage compared with the other benefits.

The combination of the Sony soundbar and TV together provide great sound. The picture is perfection. I've always owned LED tv's in the past and this is my first OLED and all I can say is WOW!!! I'm never going back to LED. This picture is amazing. Watching movies through streaming or Blu-ray is so enjoyable. I find myself watch movies I've seen many times over again just to enjoy the picture and I notice things I'd never seen before. Overall I'm so pleased with my purchase. Ten out of Ten.

I did find the set up much easier than the previous TV I had set up for my husband. The clear colours etc are immersive, but what I truly love is the sound quality. Having the sound at the front makes it clear, as my previous TV had speakers at the back.

Was a bit worried about OLED in a room that has a lot of windows but no problem at all with the TV working even in mid day with light coming in. Sound is good but afraid the room is just a bit too large and will have to add a soundbar... should have bought it with the tv fro the bundle discount but thought the tv sound would be good enough. regardless, no regrets.

But to use the Chromecast you have to sign in with your Google account which infests the telly with all kinds of GoogleTV stuff which I didn't want. If you're happy with that it's a fabulous telly, great sound and picture. You can choose to set it up as a 'basic TV' which I eventually had to do.

I had the tv replaced like for like. Again, I'm glad I chose this product over other competitors.

Struggling to understand the need for two remote controls. Instruction manual for remote controls very limited information especially in respect of the voice activated search function. Also can't call up main tv program menu since our TV is connected to a Manhattan Freeview tuner. We had no problem doing that on the 42 inch Bravia.

Unsure why Sony provides two remote controls and as with so much tech these days why oh why can’t manufacturers include a printed user guide - and not a pictorial one either.

This is probably the best TV you can buy , I have figured out how to operate it without instructions, the image quality is astounding , why only 4 stars there is no proper user manual and for a tv at this price they should be, you are left in the lurch about its functions It arrived with 2 very thick booklets that dont give you a clue of its operations the booklets have a measly couple of pages in each one in English.

As most of the best features on it can’t be accessed unless you’ve got paid subscriptions or pay for your movies. The enhanced Bravia movie selection is terrible only giving you around 30/40 options to pick from. Most being £3-£7 and all old. Considering how much extras u need to have to get the full potential of the tv is abit of a joke. Usually something with that price tag especially being so much higher than LG’s at £900 you would think you would be receiving a different league item. Which wasn’t the case. Not happy at all but to stressful to return due to it being a present. Wouldn’t recommend at all!!

Superb clarity of the picture and after turning off the light sensor, reducing the brightness and colour slightly I am over the moon, it is all down to individual taste at the end of the day, the sound is excellent as well.

I needed a TV that could be seen clearly by viewers at all angles to the screen and this model does that. Although I had paid for an installer to deliver and set up the set, the process was straightforward. The installer swiftly connected it to an EE YouView box and Freesat. I know it will take some time to explore all the TV's capabilities. As with all electrical appliances nowadays, there were no written 'Quick Setup' instructions, only pictures, which I find frustrating, but I managed to understand enough to insert feet to raise the TV enough for a sound bar at front.

Easy to set up with your google account and very soon into watching great tv with fantastic picture and sound. Not the easiest system to navigate when turned on, but one gets use to it. The picture is what sold it for us and we have since gone out and bought a UHD/4K blue ray player to compliment it. If you are looking for a smaller OLED Tv this is the one.

My one gripe is that when you choose to watch broadcast TV it is slow to obtain a channel and sometimes needs 3 or more attempts

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great TV, but... Love this TV. I bought 2 in fact - a 48" and 77". Sharp picture and easy setup. The but is the Best Buy rep indicated the unit can easily be setup with a Sonos sound bar & surround sound system. Setting up one TV with the Sonos was easy but after 8-10 hours of trying, Googling, talking in forums and working directly with Sonos tech support, I'm still not able to get the 77" working with all the Sonos components. This is likely more a problem with the Sonos app than it is with Sony but be careful if you're going off Sony for sound. The small (48") tv is very nice - beautiful picture and very intuitive setup. As good if not better than my Samsung and definitely much better than my LG which I find clunky. And the Sonos is working well with it. I think because I'm trying to set up a 2nd tv with separate Sonos components it confuses the Sonos app - which isn't that hard to do it seems. Pros- great picture, easy setup, single clicker, thin profile, decent port capacity Cons - expensive and still trying to get the Sonos working properly. Would definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Cinematic Experience I researched widely before deciding to buy this Sony XR 48A90K television. My great passion is the cinema, collecting films and watching them in the comfort of my own home. My library of DVDs and Bluray Disks is pretty comprehensive and my choice of a new television was particularly decided by the cinematic presentation, and the quality of "Up Scaling" from the Standard Definition of my DVDs and the High Definition of my Bluray Discs to Ultra High Definition. I looked at LG, Samsung and Panasonic, but Sony trumped them all. The images were of exquisite beauty, not just faithful up scaling and reproduction, but THE most perfect picture of them all. Capturing the sweeping emotion the director intended, rather than just lighting up diodes accurately. I purchased at the same time the Sony Home Theatre System, the HT-A9 and use it all in combination with my Panasonic DP-UB9000 Ultra HD player. All three combined create the most sumptuous and absorbing cinematic experience outside an IMAX Theatre. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was an astounding white knuckle ride from start to finish. It sounds ridiculous, but picture is SO realistic, that you feel you could step through the screen and join in. Straight out of the box the XR-48A90K took a little tweaking to get the picture just right, but it is worth taking the time. Of all the TVs I tested, this is simply the best. Although I bought the Sony Home Theatre System, to get the best out of movies, the sound system within the television is actually extremely good in its own right. Again, a bit of tweaking produced a full, absorbing and accurate sound reproduction. So much so that I use the TV speakers for watching everything that doesn't have surround sound of one type or another. This includes DVDs of movies from the 1930s, 40s, 50s 60s and 70s, Comedy series and dramas from the same era, with the picture quality of all of them absolutely superb. The picture and sound quality from Streaming Channels is again excellent, with most being broadcast in UHD with accompanying Dolby Atmos sound. Although I have yet to explore the full streaming capacity of the unit, with its access to Bravia Core and so many other platforms. Am I happy that I chose the XR-A90K? A resounding YES. It gives me everything I want as a Home Cinema, and gives it in spades.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great picture I've had this for a month now and very happy. Excellent at upscaling hd content in particular to near 4k, but lower resolution content is also very good. Picture doesn't quite get bright enough, but with tweaking the picture settings it's pretty good. Sound is very good at low to medium volume so no need for a soundbar but if you're going to want the volume quite loud then there is some distortion. Operating system is a bit buggy and to TV for stuck in a loop of switching off and on for about 5 minutes. Even unplugging didn't correct it. It just started working normally again by itself. If it does it again it's going back to the shop. Overall an excellent upgrade for my Panasonic plasma which is 12 years old and still going strong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality and fuss-free I wanted to upgrade my TV from my 42” Sony LED, and after some research, narrowed it to the A90k 48” or the LG C3. I went with the Sony because I trust the brand. The picture is all I expected it to be: it’s not shouty or flash but there is great subtlety in the shadows and tones. Especially good with films. I use my Sonos system for the sound, so can’t speak for the TV’s own speakers. It was easy enough to set it all up, and connect to my YouTube account and so on.

Having two remotes seems overly complicated and surprising that Sony weren’t able to combine the controls into one remote. Also often find in the morning that the tv has switched itself back on.

This was the first Sony TV I've purchased. Had other brands in the past,ie, Samsung, Lg, Panasonic. This time I thought try a Sony. A bit more expensive but wow it was worth every penny. If you're worried about spending a bit more. Don't be. You won't be disappointed it's outstanding. For me now I will only ever buy Sony TV's in the future.

It performs gloriously, works brilliantly with the PlayStation 5 and we’re looking forward to trying out many more of the features and connecting our Sony 5.1 sound system when it arrives. Would recommend to any gamer or movie fan. This TV looks glorious!

Sound is superb in fact too. We have watched 1080p. Standard dvd and 4k content and the performance is stellar compared to our older tv. Easy to add apps too. Great service from Avensys in Crawley also!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant picture I have had this tv for about 6 months and am delighted with it. It was expensive but the picture is superb and the sound is excellent. It also fits perfectly in the available space between shelves Where we had a 32inch tv. The only downside is that it is linked to a TalkTalk box and frequently seems to turn back on at night as in the morning the 'Bravia' is displayed in the corner. John Lewis were unable to help.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Picture/Sound-: Google Assistant not so good Sharp, bright OLED picture. Sound superb for slim TV. Let down by Google Assistant. For example 'OK Google turn on TV' does not work. I have to say 'open TV' or close TV to turn off. Using Google to 'open TV' only works 50% of the time, and I have to use the remote.. When playing audio the Google command 'Picture off' is interpreted as 'Picture of', with a comment to say it does not understand. 'Picture on' works fine. There are many other glitches with Google Assistance too numerous to list.

The picture is excellent and the sound better than we dared hope for. The way that the voices really appear to come from the mouths of actors in dramas along with the refined picture allows immersion in the content. It has brought a new pleasure to TV watching.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Colours are beaut After about 500 trips to stores looking at hundreds of black rectangles all doing very similar things, I'm glad I picked this one. Colours are absolutely stunning. The sound from the TV is also very impressive if you are using this without a sound bar or surround speakers etc. The remote is very high qulity and sleek and it lights up when you move it then goes off when left alone. A small detail which makes it premium. If you can't be bothered to spend ages looking and going in circles and you have the budget for this and want this size, go for it. It is an expensive screen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Realy Disappointed !! Hi there, This is a brand new TV, Sony Bravia XR XR48A90K (2022) OLED HDR 4K Ultra HD. It is a replacement for a 3 1/2 year old Sony Bravia, which was displaying stability symptoms, ie. intermittently switching it self off and re-booting. That TV was taken away for repair under warranty, a main board was suspected, but in the end the screen was seen to be the problem, and the TV was unrepairable. I was offered a compensation payment, which I accepted, and used it to purchase the new TV, at significant additional cost to myself. I have had the new TV installed now for 12 days. After 1 day of satisfactory viewing, this new TV is displaying similar symptoms to the old one, ie. intermittently switching it self off and re-booting. As I had been through detailed problem determination with previous support staff diagnosing the old TV, I have a fairly good idea of what to check. The TV currently only has 2 connections, power and TV signal input cable currently attached to a dish, whilst I have a sound bar, this is disconnected, I also have a LAN cable, also disconnected. I have checked for software updates, on 1 occasion an update for the remote control came through and was installed, other than that, nothing else. The problem mainly seems to occur when switching between various options, ie. switching TXT subtitles, or going to the guide and scrolling through. Although, it does also re-boot at random, when watching TV programs as normal. The final straw came yesterday !! I went to the Help Section - Status and Diagnostics and proceeded through the various diagnostic options, much to my despair, the TV once again re-booted itself. I despair that the TV cannot even perform its own self diagnosis !! I have no problems with the actual TV, when it works it is great, the picture is great, the functionality is great, however my overall experience is far from great. I have now contacted the retailer, they have agreed to accept a return and provide a replacement. I am happy to take a replacement, and I am putting my experience down to a "one off" faulty TV, and I am hoping for a better experience with the replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Five Year Warranty? TV Does Not Upscale As Claime Sony claim this OLED TV has a 5 Year Warranty but have declined to honour this by refusing to give me it. The picture does not upscale to 4K from all sources as claimed, it is pathetic with SD format, not anywhere as good as my other 4K LED TV , which is a cheaper TV. Unless Sony honour the 5 year Warranty I shall not be buying anymore of their products. Best of luck trying to sort out any of your product problems with Sony, its a nightmare without any resolution, just like its picture.

The sound quality is incredible, really getting a sense of where the sound is coming from, especially when watching action sequences. Finally able to play my ps5 in 120hz refresh 4k resolution is a joy, the crisp and fluid gameplay this TV allows is superb

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The clue is in the handset! As soon as I held the handset I thought to myself, 'ooh, this is heavier, this has metal, this has back-lit buttons'. It cried out good design and quality! There are things I don't like, namely the four pre-select App buttons (Bravia Core/Netflix/Disney+/Prime Video) I wish you were able to select your own favourite Apps. The Google infestation I could do without too! The TV spec's you will probably know all about by now, but from a not too techy guy - the TV sound is very good for most kind of viewings except for all out movie enveloping. Which brings me to the switching between TV speakers and my external surround system (Sonos), it's not like flicking a switch, I'm having to switch the TV off/on in order for the change in selection to activate. Admittedly this could be user error? The picture is very good, once I got over my Samsung 'Pop' experiences. There is a greater detail, more natural tone to the Sony. All in all, I'm very happy with my selection BUT I do wish there was an option to have a slim silver frame around the TV so that it doesn't resemble one huge black slab on the wall!

I have a bigger Sony Bravia that's very old which I am waiting to fail so I have an excuse to replace it! It just keeps going as good as when I bought it! My new 42'' is excellent and I can listen to it via my ear phones so doesn't the volume doesn't disturb the rest of the household with better hearing (-:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice TV worked well out of the BOX This TV worked well for about 6 months when suddenly I lost the TV Guide for several of the OTA channels, Both Gracenotes and Sony support suggested a Factory Reset. Well doing that twice and spending over 2 hours each time reconfiguring the TV nothing changed. My Son has an older Sony which allows you to edit the channels so that the Guide appears, this feature is missing on this TV, I have had another Sony with a similar problem but that one totally lost all guide info and Sony refused to address the issue. I now have an open case for this TV Lets see if they resolve the issue

Brightness could be a bit higher, it's kinda low, though as long as you use the Vivid colours profile, it's not an issue.

Super slim frame, crystal clear picture with great colour. The speakers project sound through the screen with spacial awareness so chance of annoying the neighbours. Love the app connectivity as it means we no longer need our recorder box (we only have free view). Just wanted a tv with excellent picture and sound. This is it.

The pro's are: great screen and picture; hardly any frame; nice and slim; good sound; search across all channels and easy to setup. The con's are: the black remote is too short, you have use 2 hands to operate the bottom buttons, 1 to hold the remote, 1 to press a button! The default screen after switching the TV on is a dashboard of apps and suggested programmes, I would like to set the default screen to the last viewed TV channel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not very impressed We purchased this model as a successor to an earlier Sony LED TV which is moved to another room. The picture quality is an improvement though we have found that the black can be too black in dark images. The sound is only average, there is little base and we have found no ability to alter the base and treble. We have not experienced any effect of surround sound or stereo as we did with the previous TV. Though advised that a sound bar would not be necessary we consider one would greatly improve the sound quality and effect. The software is frustrating - we appear unable to schedule a program from the TV guide if that program is available on catch-up, the program starts immediately which means we do not get to finish the program we were watching. If using an external device such as a hard drive recorder then Google appears to not work properly for example requesting to return to TV channels, start a streaming service or close down. Two handsets are supplied: the more modern-looking one has no number pad so moving to a particular channel requires entry into the 'numbers' screen in settings, it also has no coloured buttons which are used for skipping in the TV guide and for 'press red button' features. This handset therefore appears to be superfluous. It is early days but so far we consider this a disappointing purchase, we should have read the 'Which?' review first!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Too many features make an excellent TV too complex The TV has a superb picture definition but it has so many options that even trying to use our Sky Q box has proved difficult. I have added an HT-A-3000 sound bar, which took a while to get to work but which is not as good a sound as I was hoping it would be. I cannot get my Sony Blue Ray player to connect using an eARC HDMI cable, nor can i get my Cambridge Audio receiver to play the sound output to enhance the sound using a TOSLINK lead. All of which is very frustrating. Our old Sony TV had RCA output connections but this new one does not. So TOSLINK or digital RCA are the only options. I need to contact Sony help to get sorted out and that should bot be necessary. I had anticipated more of a "plug-and-play" experience. I am sure that many people will find this TV much easier to connect than me but it is very frustrating. I am aged 73 but have remained IT and electronics literate but am struggling with this TV. The absence of a paper User Manual has made the whole experience even worse because I cannot just browse/flick through it to learn how to get it to do what I want. I have the digital version on my iPad and iPhone and the pdf version but it is not the same as having the book in one's hands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OLED 48inch We've had the tv for 3 weeks now. Ordered and delivered from John Lewis in a timely and efficient way. Easy to assemble with 2 people due to the size. Took about 20 minutes to set up. Extremely happy with the picture and sound quality. No need for a sound bar. The most expensive tv we've bought . We hope it will last afew years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb picture Watching sport in UHD on this set is a wonderful experience, there is no stuttering or lagging of the picture and it's as sharp as a needle. The sound quality is better than previous Sony sets which is interesting when considering that the screen is used as a speaker system. Having said that, it is no substitute for a good soundbar and subwoofer. Overall, I am very pleased with the performance of this, my first OLED, TV.

When I watch other people's TV, they are often far too bright for comfortable viewing and the brilliant whites are very hard on my eyes. I can fine-tune the brightness on this Sony and people have mentioned how much nicer it is to watch than their own screens.
