Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality appears to have reduced compared to older I have had a Sony 3D tv for 10 year with great picture quality sound in fact everything. I have just replaced it with this model and larger screen. I have to say the TV channel picture is worse the sound coming from the screen area is often difficult to head correctly. So as a new purchase I would consider it a downgrade. Channel U for example , when chosen state error message, pressed again comes on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not Impressed Yet Truth is I really don't know how good it is. I had Curry's install it for me and I am not convinced it was installed correctly. Firstly they Installed the TV with the legs as low as they could be, that meant the sound bar was higher than the bottom of the TV and covered the 'magic eye' so the remote wouldn't work. That meant me uninstalling the TV to raise the legs. I paid £45 for installation and £20 for delivery even though the installers brought the TV Hitting a brick wall with Currys, so not as impressed all round and certainly not worth the £1500 i spent

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good tv but …. This is my second version of this tv. First one was received and, after professional installation, the first one was found to be cracked. Tried to purchase a replacement but was told model was no longer available! Was forced to find another vendor who was able to locate another example and install it a week later. New one now finally working but was disappointed with original vendor support. This is my sixth Sony tv plus lots of other Sony devices such as DVD and receivers.

Picture quality and clarity are outstanding and it's flexibility and ease of use just make for a super viewing experience. We are so glad we spent a little extra to get such a quality product. It’s been sitting here for over 3 weeks now and still nobody has been in contact for the installation! I have been emailing constantly and finally managed to speak to someone on the phone last week, but still nothing has happened.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had it for 24 hrs - So far so good I bought this after no research (unusual for me) as my prior one (7 yrs old) started misfunctioning, the Olympics were on and I wanted a Sony to interface with all Sony gadgets (playstation, sound bar, DVD etc..). The picture was not as bright as the Samsung Q93D but its an OLED so the black is really sharp. Compared to a 43" Samsung I bought for the bedroom, the setting up took a while (I used my Samsung S21 phone which just taook care of everything once I set my preferences and linked it my account and TV). Not so with my Sony TV despite backing my data to my Sony account. Hence a 4 star. The TV works as advertised and I am yet to be wow'd as I was with the Samsung. But the wife likes it... happy wife happy life!

Picture quality is excellent, features and in built apps are all easy to access and work 'fast'! Sound through the screen is a little disappointing, but maybe I'll try adjusting settings again.

Picture quality on OLED screen is wonderful, all apps connected, only negative is the quality of sound which has been enhanced by previous sound bar from previous model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a great tv Bought this tv around 6 months ago and still cannot connect sony soundbar correctly change channel on the tv and the soundbar goes dead and tv keeps going to tv speakers which to me are not impressive. Read a lot of reviews about this tv and most seem to praise this tv just cannot see why its very difficult to set up . Poor quality picture if not hd .have tried all way to connect sony soundbar optical,Bluetooth, hdmi with no success . would recommend looking for a different tv manufacturer. We shall not be purchasing any sony products in the future very disappointed.

Not even close. So far the picture quality is good and the apps work nicely. It will take a while to really check the whole package out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good but no Freesat. Generally very pleased. Easy setup and user interface is clear. Disappointed that Sony no longer offers Freesat and one is left with General satellite which is poor by comparison. Our freeview signal is erratic and so Freesat was much superior.

So I will not be buying anything from them again. So all I did was go to your website and they said this sometimes happens so I just reboot it and it’s been fine since

I wish Sony could be just as fast with return policy as they do with purchases. Thanks. The Bravia 8 was a delight to set up and experience is well worth in opting for a replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sony TV 55 inch Love the TV withe it's excellent picture and sound quality. Purchase was made through Currys and was delivered as stated. Only negative was the fact remote control to TV was broken. After contacting Currys we were informed their policy was that we had to pack the whole TV back up and send it back ?? How stupid that a replacement could not have been ordered. So I contacted Sony and informed of the same. After lots of explaining that being disabled I could not pack tv away again and go without my tv for another 2-3 weeks Sony finally agreed to send out a working remote control. This is am still awaiting After nearly 2 weeks. Will update when it arrives.

Sound quality is not to good either, not clear. No instructions given in paper format on how to use the handset, very unsatisfactory, would not choose another Sony TV for this price, nearly £2000 !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing tv I've had this tv for a week now and the picture and sound quality are amazing, the only things I find annoying are the constant logging in to every account on the tv screen keyboard I don't find it user friendly at all and as for Sony films I cannot get any access to it at all. I created an account and it doesn't recognise it but it won't let me re do it as my email is already registered, the one it doesn't recognise and it just goes around in circles.

Also, there is no way to turn off the audio so that I can use my L.G. sound bar in lieu of using the tv speakers, only re-directing sound to a receiver which causes problems with sound quality AND if using the sound bar, I have to use that remote to control the sound in lieu of using my x-finity remote..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Underwhelmed and disappointed I’ve had this TV two weeks now and have to be honest, I am disappointed with it. I’ve gone from a 10 year old 47” LCD Samsung to the 55” OLED BRAVIA 8 expecting a big difference in picture and sound quality but it’s barely noticeable. Not to mention setting it up, took me a good 2 hours and navigating the menus is clumsy and long winded. The reason I went for this TV was its reviews it had but I’m beginning to think the majority of reviews are from Sony staff or people gifted the TV. If I could return it I would so just have to make the most of it now. I’m going to have to buy the theatre Bar 9 to enhance the audio aspect. And fyi, the TV doesn’t have Dolby Atmos built into the internal speakers like they make it sound it does. You have to add a theatre bar. My advice would be, look at plenty of tvs rather trusting what you read!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good TV - But Not Quite Five Stars! I was in the market for a new TV, and carried out a fair bit of online 'research' as to the best model on the market. I got the choice down to either the Sony Bravia or the LG. Eventually, I opted for the Sony (because there just happened to be a £200 off a Bravia offer on the Sony website, taking the price down to £1200!) Having had the TV now for about a month, I think I made the right choice; although there are a couple of niggly wee points which led to only a four star review! The main remote is a bit 'basic'; plus, I don't see why there is a need for two separate remote's - could all of the functions not be incorporated into a better designed single remote? Last point - not sure what I was expecting but I feel that the picture quality isn't really that much better than my previous Samsung TV?

For instance: No mention is made of the fact that selecting "surround sound" when you have no external speakers will cause ALL sound to be lost. By experimenting and guessing I found that deleting the surround sound feature solved the problem. Also, while EXTENSIVE legalese during the setup process. printed instructions are severely lacking.

But I have now added a Sony theatre 8 sound bar and it’s 100% better. It’s a shame that this is the case because my old Sony Bravia XR was brilliant on the sound front and no sound bar was needed……come on Sony you can do better.

However, the "operating system" for the TV is "Google TV" and this bombards me with unwanted and irritating advertising. Even when the setting is changed to "Apps Only" there is STILL some advertising which cannot be removed. Surely SONY can bring pressure on Google to cease and desist from this ghastly practice?

It is a great TV superb picture and good sound from the TV (although I normally listen via my Sony amp). The only drawback, which I will probably be able to fix by reading the manual, is that when I turn it on it opens on the home page rather than the last used service. This means that you have to select the source rather than already be connected to the set top box

I'd just like to watch some TV, not type in all my passwords and do security checks on all the devices all around my house I've ever logged in with at some point. Downright annoying.

I use it mostly as a monitor for my Sky Q Box and use a Bose sound bar - the setup went well. Only complaint is that the Sky remote control of the TV power on/off is flaky. You have to count to three... then let go of the power button to turn off the TV. Any longer then the Google TV reboot screen comes up!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Features appreciated after a few months of use I've lived with this set for a few months now and will list what, for me have been the best features. The nice big screen reproduces colours artistically, with uniform edge-to-edge and corner-to-corner uniform brightness. Once set up, Bluetooth integration with my Bose headphones is automatic and fast at switch-on. The sound is good; I can even make out the dialogue from the worst of those awful American films. Connectivity with and selection of external devices is excellent. I appreciate the lengths taken to avoid screen-burn when displaying a fixed picture; after a pause, auto screen dimming, followed by changing art images and eventually, complete shut down. Another particularly-appreciated feature is the cool operation; you will definitely not feel a lot of heat coming out of the back. I take this as evidence of excellent design, avoiding wasted energy and preventing general thermal-stressing of all the components.

Fine if the TV starts in previous mode, but if it displays anything but the HDMI input, she's hosed. I need it to start WITHOUT giving me the latest offers! Second...I TRIED to download a manual from the Sony site, but it's borked. Trying to get it to show more to display my model is a no go, calling tech support outs me in a endless loop. This is a part of the user experience I am not enjoying.

Probably won’t use most of what is included in the tv itself. Found it difficult to tune in. Instructions poor. Took us 2 hours plus and had to go back to the shop. We are on cable tv and nowhere did it mention the input button. Very frustrating. But it’s working now

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous picture Has a Fabulous picture, build quality is excellent, Audio pretty good but easily improved with an external amp etc. Disappointed with the quality of remote control compared with my last Sony TV. Also disappointed with the google TV interface. Note factory reset doesn’t remove google TV. The remote buttons don’t always take you where you expect. I preferred the simple interface on my last Sony TV from 2008 (sadly it’s tuner packed in). TV has a UK specification, why can’t it have a proper decent quality specific UK English A5 manual. Also there is nothing smart about a smart TV, I don’t want to watch any of the top picks for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointing support Really disappointed with Sony customer service. TV has developed a fault, have had 10+ calls and 5 emails to Sony. They want me to send pictures of the fault and keep saying they can’t open pictures. According to their staff they can’t open zip files, their team told me to use a file share service, next person says they can’t open zip use the service that their colleague told me to use. Now they are ignoring my emails. Really disappointed. My household has 3 Sony TVs, I’ve been buying only Sony TVs for 25 years. This has been a real blow that a tv with a fault that is less than 6m old.

Had to call Sony to figure out how to get rid of the keyboard to get to an option. Still to figure out how to work digital audio out. But overall very pleased.

The model was more expensive than others for specification reasons but cost wasn't top of my constraints. I bought a Sony Bravia 15 years ago which lasted 10 years. I'm just hoping this one will last at least 10 years. So far it's everything I was hoping for in aTV.

Rear side cable cover could be desigend a bit better and not just a bit of plastic , This is my 3rd Bravia , Would be better if they made there own softrware and got rid of this google stuff, Also only has 2 USB,s 4 would have been better. Simple remote makes life easier.. Decent manual would have been much better than the piece of paper with print so small one can hardly see it , Not interested in online documents,

The replacement then started with the same fault in August 2025 - now in November, am awaiting either a repair or refund. Very disappointing as it is not a cheap product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Massive regrets buying this! I deliberated for ages on this TV. I have been LG all the way for years. Now wish I had stuck with LG. Slim, sleek looking. I like that the ‘feet’ can be adjusted. It’s the performance I’m disappointed in. Bright colours are just that. Dark scenes are awful; pixilation all over the place. Although I had read this in a review, the sound is truly awful. I don’t want to play my soundbar for everything I watch. The sound is so bad it is ruining my enjoyment of everything I’m watching. The main remote is not use friendly; if you’ve got large fingers anything could happen. So disappointed. Considering my options??

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect OLED TV If you are looking for a 55" OLED TV, get a Bravia 8. All other models by Sony do not have the picture quality of an OLED. The TV inbuilt speaker is superb and yes it is mounted behind the screen. A sound bar is an option if you want cinema quality sound, but play it loader than normal to get the best from it.

Have tried all the settings I can find in the onscreen toolbox and am still milliseconds away from this particular distraction. Changing HDMI inputs from HDMI 1 to earc only made everything disappear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blacks look poor quality Sadly the picture quality when watching sky Q is poor when viewing very dark scenes. Rather than dark tones smoothly blending, they are in blocks or stepped changes. Almost giving a cartoon like affect to changes in tone.

The picture and audio are very good especially compared to my previous LED TV and my star rating is based on that alone. However I do have several concerns firstly that it is so integrated with Google in that it tries to get you to sign into a Google account continually. I am not a fan of Google due to its data exploitation, had I known the extent before hand I would have purchased a different TV. I also have issues with apps not launching, iplayer etc. and the Amazon prime video button on the remote doesn’t seem to work. I’m not sure if I haven’t grasped all the controls as the manual supplied is minimal and I haven’t had the chance to look online. I’m hoping it’s not because of the integration with Google that I won’t sign into. If it is because of the integration I may need to look at returning it for a different brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unit Randomly Restarts In the first two months of ownership the Bravia 8 would intermittently reboot in several sequences. I went to Reddit and other forums to try to troubleshoot it. There was an update on November 17th 2024 that stated it would address a bug with an external inputs causing it to reboot. 3 days later, issue persisted and so I attempted to isolate and triage once again. Removed all inputs, used another outlet on a different circuit, and restored the unit to factory settings. During the reset it rebooted 3 times. After the reset it just keeps rebooting.

Weren’t we disappointed when after less than 3 weeks we get 6 blinking red LEDs and no picture. We did the power reset and no change. Called Sony customer service 5 days ago. Got our case number, but still have not received any email from Sony on how to ship this back, or any other instructions. Horrible customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don’t waste your time and funds with this product Purchase this TV 6 mos ago during Thanksgiving. My wife and I debated for a while between Sony or Samsung. Clearly Samsung would last more than 6 mos, so I clearly won that argument. TV is dead and used to shut down and restart past few months, and I learned this is a common problem. Didn’t expect to have that sort of issues from a premium TV and the brand. Purchased from Best Buy but was immediately footballed to Sony as “ manufacturer’s defect is their issues”. Picture quality is OK, but way on the darker side so learn to watch everything in a dark room. Highly recommend to stay clear of this model and the brand, as support and quality are no longer what Sony used to be. Other bigger retailers offer more lucrative return and warranty offers, do your homework.
