Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keystone/auto focus stops working after few month I just cannot express enough how bad this product is other than its form factor. While I did enjoy using it for the first few weeks, this thing absolutely does not want to work properly. After pretty minimal use of this device. Auto focus and keystone stopped working. So I sent in for a repair and the repair was covered via warranty. I had it fixed almost right before warranty expired and was using it for few month without much trouble, only to find out that auto focus/keystone stopped working again. This is pretty frustrating. I'm not going to address other issue with this device in detail as it is covered pretty well from other people(mainly about slow response).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a must have for home security top of the l When it comes to choosing a home servallance system to entrust with the responsibility of keeping the people you love the most safe for me it was a absolute must have for the system to intergrate semilessly with my existing entertainment system as well as smart home features as well as mobiles The freestyle home or business security camera was the only option for me and my family not only is the interface of the freestyle app extremely user friendly it's also simple enough my child had it figured out within hours of the purchase mine and my wife's favorite feature has to be the built-in option to contact emergency services paired with live updates sent to your notification panel the freestyle app you also have options for email updates as well the simplistic features are easy enough a 4 year old can use them no problem but powerful enough to never doubt or second guess gets yours today

They offered for me to send it in to their technician, but I have to pay for shipping and the cost of repairs (BTW I am STILL paying monthly through Samsung's billing plan for this product). Sure, it was fun, but only for the 2 hrs total I got to enjoy it. DO NOT BUY THIS.

Maybe 2024 model will have that future for better and sharper colors and long lasting the product.. Other than that it is a little lagging and in summer the charger gets too hot after about 30 minutes..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great projector for Camping The Freestyle projector has an easy method of use, and the brightness is good enough for when you go camping, I used it to project on the side of my tent and used a solar battery to power on, the ease to connect to my Bluetooth audio was great, it gave me hours of entertainment.

Excellent quality and available online or at Best Buy. I have to say that the picture quality is brighter than my OLED Pioneer Elite 60 inch TV, which has the darkest blacks ever.

During sporting events I would have family and friends come over and just project the game on a big screen. Sound quality is amazing and picture is great too. Love how easy it is to use and the setup is a breeze with your smartphone. The Freestyle also helped during my sisters proposal as it added beautiful backgroud video without being in the way

I have an issue with sound, it'll a while usually for audio to start working. When it does start working it'll kinda stop and then I have to tap the bottom to get it going again.

The size of it made it simple for me to place it where ever I wanted it to be, but me issue was that for me it got warm and then the sharpness of the picture wasn't all that. This happened after a few hrs of steaming and playing games so that's could be y. Hopefully it was just mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Freestyle projector wow First off I was not looking for projector I saw it on my shop so so that while shopping for appliances for my kitchen and it caught my eye I ended up browsing back to it a few times throughout our process of choosing what things my wife and I would like and features for our new kitchen appliances and ended up putting it on to the end of the order when I received it I didn't know what to expect I ended up setting it up and using it with my kids to watch a movie in the backyard which they enjoy very much and it was blown away with how easy and convenient the projector actually was to use the automatic keystoning and setting the screen to the background no matter what angle and the setup being exactly like the Samsung Smart TVs that I also have purchased for our house was something that was familiar and easy to adapt into our house The kids enjoy it it's easy to pack and take with us on trips camping and have used it several times since we've bought it and everyone that's just seen it when we've brought it out with friends for people that just happen to stumble upon us when we're using are all very impressed in have questions about what model and the pricing of it and are also interested in the device I recommend it if anybody that's looking for a projector and a few people that probably are just like I wasn't extremely excited and happy with our purchase and look forward to using it for many memories in outings with my kids

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stealthy powerhouse This Samsung Freestyle has proven to be quite a pleasant surprise. I had initial reservations after unboxing, but with some time fully setting it up and firmware updates, this has been a solid product. I purchased this mainly as a portable means of doing offsite training and impromptu presentations. I have not yet had those opportunities, but look forward to the impressions from the pretty "tough crowd" of vocal participants when they see just how phenomenal the image quality and size are for this projector. For now, this is for viewing Samsung TV Plus, streaming services, and as a smart speaker. The best use though is as a "virtual meditation portal": the ambient mode and Calm app allow for delving into deep meditation.

Self adjusting size, self focus and a fantastic picture. We use it for movie nights on the back patio. Even has great sound quality from thd samd unit. We use it on wifi for all of our streaming channels. I hope to get thd back up battery next so that we can watch movies anywhere. If you try 1 product this year, make it thd freestyle!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use Plug and play is the name of the game. You plug it in, face it to a wall and it works. I have been able to face the projector at multiple angles toward just about any wall. The keystone automatically adjusts to the wall, if for some reason it doesn't work then it is very easy to fix. It is also very easy to carry. I often take it to family events. I just wait for it to get dark enough and put up a white sheet or even just face It to a white wall. As long as it is dark the image is clear and clean. I have had to purchase a mini hdmi to hdmi converter to physically attach my phone or computer. If all you need it for is to watch streaming services then the freestyle is all you need. The freestyle is accessible and allows you to view all major streaming services directly on the device. It has been very convenient and makes family gatherings all that more fun. Sometimes I will attach my tablet and generate random words to take turns drawing and guessing what the word is. I have taken the freestyle with me to many places and it never fails to impress.

Once we used it for that and saw how it worked we ended up showing a movie to the entire town. Now this is something we can do every week for the boys and girls in our neighborhood.

This is by far the best projector I have ever owned in over twenty years since laser disk! I got a car cigarette power adapter to where I can then plug in the 12v socket and those in the back seat on long road trips can enjoy a show or movie along the drive. Great for outdoor picnics as well just get a generator that produces energy for the device and viola! Honestly Glad I got it at discount though cause no way in He** this is worth $799.99!

But unfortunately we have already had to have two parts replaced and we are still having the same issues. We have problems with the TV connecting to Sky, we have had Sky out numerous times and we keep having to turn the TV off at the mains switch to get Sky back on.

It’s a little noisy when on but it’s bearable. I definitely recommend the freestyle to anyone who doesn’t have a lot of space.

I like the fact that it is so portable and does not require anything other than wifi to watch movies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Samsung's Worst Product Worst tech product I have ever purchased. The processor is extremely slow and glitchy, and the functions freeze all the time. It always starts playing the Samsung TV channel, and the remote, when it works, takes 4-5 seconds to control the device after pressing any button. Many of the apps do not load content and just time out trying to open. The auto-focus and screen size features do not work well and typically result in a crooked picture. I have already returned this device once due to manufacture defect. This idea is great, but the product is horrible.

Very portable and easy to use. I use it in my garage, indoor, and at the shop when I wait. Really am amazing addition to the Samsung Ecosystem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall really bad experiance I had bought the Samsung freestyle projector from Target a week ago. First thing it did was the projector never connected to any Bluetooth devices. We made sure that the software was upto date and did the factory reset but still did not worked. Second thing, the resolution was so distorted that I even get the better result in the 15 year old 720 P Epson projector than this. I tried manual focus and everything but nothing changed the image quality. Third, the remote and the software is soo unresponsive that few times, i felt like the projector hung up (it take more than 30 seconds to respond and go to the required focus settings). Forth, when i contacted the Samsung support, i was expected if they can try to do some troubleshooting remotely rather than asking it to be shipped to support center. With all these bad experience, i have decided to return this product. But I am still willing to buy another device to make sure that there was not an issue with device itself - Before i loose all hope. I hope it turns out to be a better product and hope Samsung can make a note of the issues.

Before having it serviced it was having difficulty finding my Bluetooth speaker. Always had to repair about once a week but since being serviced it hasn’t had any problems with my Bluetooth speaker. So if your having any issues with the Freestyle I suggest to have it serviced before the warranty runs out. All in all I still give it a 10. Look for it on sale. I thought I was getting a deal but about a month later it was on a ridicules sale. I could have save 300 instead of 100 dollars. Oh well, live and learn

It gets the job done but is clunky and I am still debating whether or not to return it. Pros: the screen set up is pretty easy as long as you have a plug and a place to project it. You can stream Netflix and Amazon etc like a smart tv but you have to do it from the device (not your computer). I have a Mac and the only way to play things is AirPlay (which Netflix / hbo etc don’t allow). So I can do presentations from my laptop but aside from that it is more or less a stand alone tv, in a projector body. Cons: the software is like a beta version of Apple TV and is just not good. To adjust sound or picture you have to navigate all the way back to the main menu and go through a bunch of clicks to get to it. A better set up is to have it as an option on the remote or directly accessible while watching whatever. Also, the power button doesn’t work unless I unplug and reply the device in. Overall it’s clunky and frustrating to use for a Samsung product. I like it’s portability and the image so far has been decent.

I have to redo the size and focus every time. Sent it in for repair and i am experiencing that same issue. Coworker purchased the same product and has a lot of issues but not the same as me. Support is refunding him for the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good concept, bad execution v1 has a lot to improve. loved the concept and performance day 1. day 2 it made noise and heated up when not in use, only plugged in. day 3 refused to start up. i tried calling and looked online, similar experience with a lot of users, and customer service couldnt help and had to be returened :(. was so looking forward to summer outdoor backyard fun with it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost i really want to love this device. i pre-ordered, i eagerly set up the device... issue one. i use my google signin for my samsung account. my phone (a samsung) has no issue, the freestyle has no issue, but the "easy connect" software you use to connect to your pc - google says its not secure and won't allow you to sign in (it says use a secure browser, but you know, when you're "browser" is the app - that's an issue). ok.. minor issue. the larger issue is that the cradle, even when the screws are tightened, cannot keep the unit from drooping when it is placed near a 45 degree angle... it just slowly droops down. i've tightened the screws. samsung customer support said it must be a defective unit. so now i have to deal with yet another chat. other than those issues...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not ready for primetime really wanted the freestyle to work out. alas - it didn't and am returning for a refund. three major flaws. 1) the os is ridiculously slow. literally takes seconds for this device to respond to a remote button click. pretty much unusable. 2) picture brightness is awful. you literally have to be in a dark room for this to be useful. 3) auto focus seems to be off - constantly having to override with manual focus.

Turned it on an auto focus all by itself everything seemed to be good. After a few days I noticed it wouldn't turn on right away had to push the power button a few times but eventually turned on, the next day it wouldn't turn on at all. Called customer service and they said to send it back so I did. About a month later went to best buy an bought it easy setup but a few days later same problem won't turn on. I really wished it would have worked I'm scared to try it again.

Read the specs before you buy. the auto keystone and focus is an excellent feature, samsung needs to improve it. better results if you use a flat and white surface. i auto calibration done with the phone is excellent and fixes the color when projecting on a colored surface. smart projector no need to connect things to it. the size is amazing and low noise level. the interface somethings lags and i hope a software update will fix this. this has 500 lumens do not expect it to light up the room. i would not use the projector as an ambient light because it has a life of 20k hours. the sound is surprisingly good given the size of the speakers. read the manual and learn to use the projector, your experience will be better. check out all the features they have packed into this litltte unit! it has built in alexa!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointing as others have stated its a bit laggy. i fully understand that its a projector but with the hype around how great this product was supposed to be i assumed we wouldn't have any issues using it with a small lamp on in the same room....or it being daylight outside. it for sure needs a dark room to be close to vibrant or clear picture. i am very disappointed i spent so much on it, its not worth the grand i spent and that's not a typical response you'd get from me regarding samsung's products. i'd love to return it but its our primary tv.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Concept Poor Execution when unit works it works well. when powering up unit i get a green screen, and i hear the audio playing from the project, but nothing but green picture. called samsung technical services, and went through whole script and eventually had to unplug power. so you literally have to unplug and reset unit everytime this happens. technician advised me that if it happens again in instead of replacing unit that samsung would sent technician to my house. of course it is happening again so contacted samsung now the story is that i have to repackage unit and sent to samsung, so will be without tv for a least a week factoring shipping and handling... i honestly am at the point to have samsung refund my money and they can take this expense paper weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from There is potential but had to return mine i was very excited to purchase this innovative projector, only to he very disappointed. unfortunately, the most important feature for me, which was the freestyle's ability to mirror my samsung tv was impossible to activate. i contacted varios samsung costumer service numbers for over an hour and no one was really aware of the feature or able to help me. if it had the ability to mirror the content on my tv i'd probably keep it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wait a while... it's a nice projector, albeit a bit pricey for what you get. i liked that my tv settings transferred to the projector, that was a solid win for me. but the promise of things coming in the future and not available on release irked me. why wasn't there a cable included to directly connect a device to the projector? the travel case fits the projector itself, but not the power supply or the remote.. why? after reading through the details on it, i was left with the impression it had its own lithium ion rechargable battery ... nope. it's good, not great. i got it to be able to have ad hoc movie nights against the side of the house/barn, but it's more hassle than it's worth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this yes, the interface is clunky and sometimes slow/non responsive and yes sometimes i am watching shows at a slight angle, but who cares?!?! i am sure there are cheaper or better alternatives. but for $900 i now have a tv in my bedroom without additional furniture or mounts. are sunset i can watch tv against the back fence. i anxiously await software updates and accessories but for now i am pleased with this despite its handful of glitches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Software Issue (Need Fixing) i would love to give this a 5-star rating but mine always reset to the factory after 2 months. i lose everything i signed up for and something my projector becomes too laggy/glitchy. the recent update removed my favorite feature which was "apple airplay". so i couldn't stream my phone to the projector. my advice is to stay away from this until it's fixed or they release a better one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup, projected onto the back of my house! easy to set up, especially being a devoted samsung user. had it up and running in under 2 minutes! took it out back and during daylight it was pretty washed out as expected, but as dusk and evening settled in, it was amazing. great sound from a small unit and the picture was fantastic! i even attempted to project a football game into an inside corner of the back of my house and in seconds it corrected the image. love this little projector so far!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far So Good i have had none of the issues that have been mentioned in previous reviews. the picture quality is great. the auto focus and keystone features are quick and adjust well to changes. the sound is surprisingly good for such a small device. it does easily connect to sound bar if needed. great addition to a house that has the samsung ecosystem. gave 4 stars instead of 5 only because it could be a little brighter. still better then i expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has potential, but the Hardware was a let down. this is an excellent concept for a project. in a year or two, you're going to buy this instead of an apple tv. currently the hardware needs some improvement. moisture & debris easily gets between the projector and lens. the jet black surface on the top easily scratches as well. (i used a microfibre cloth and it still scratched). the white plastic casing looks and feels incredibly cheap. it's loosely attached as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inconsistent and died at 3 months sometimes it cuts on and sometimes it doesn't. sometimes it keeps your settings and network connections, other times it factory resets for no reason. sometimes it lets you adjust settings, other times it switches you back in the middle of the settings to a random show. sometimes you can watch netflix or youtube, other times it's a blue screen when you click them. sometimes it's responsive and sometimes it takes 5-10 seconds for buttons to respond. sometimes it auto focuses really well and other times it takes a perfectly good screen and adjusts it. yes the size is nice, picture/sound are good when working, but easily overshadowed by all of the inconsistencies. no way this is a $1,000 device. died at 3 months...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Picture quality is A1 The software is trash so when the keystone works you get a fantastic picture and experience but…. to get to that point is a pain. i bought a projector screen and even on a perfectly flat white screen the keystone struggles. when you try a manual keystone the software lags behind really badly. its a very frustrating experience. its like samsung have put a s22 ultra lens system for the picture but made the brains from spare galaxy a02 scraps. if the software is fixed this is an automatic 4/4.5 the device has a ton of potential. please samsung fix the software. i want to love this. ya’ll making it difficult.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I wanna love it with all its quirks the good: super portable and cool. easy to set up it does the job it was intended to do pretty good picture and sound the bad: the auto leveling and adjusting works ok. i've had to restart multiple times to get it to kick in. the ui is very slow and laggy. need to be able to make adjustments over the picture that's playing, and not have to exit to the settings menu every time. final thoughts: it's pretty cool. i'm keeping it, but they need to fix the software.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mediocre Quality for High Price i was extremely excited for the freestyle when it was announced. i wanted portability with a quality projector. set up was easy, and the image quality was good but that was all that was good. the projector did not hold an angle by itself and needed to be supported by something other than its built in stand. the auto focus worked but the automatic keystone did not. i am willing to buy a second generation if improved at a lower price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Potential but overall a letdown i expected a lot from initial hype around the freestyle. however my first experience with the projector has been underwhelming especially give the price point. few issues which are particularly problematic - the navigation is too slow with the remote meaning too many wrong clicks - the darker colors are washed out in all settings and this combined with the fact that projector is overall pretty low on brightness makes it tough to use in any setting other than a completely dark room still debating whether to keep or return. expected better from samsung.

But we've found that we don't use it very much because conditions have to be just right to have a good viewing experience. Unless you're using it in a totally dark room, it's not bright enough to compete with ambient light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from problem after problem i have had my freestyle for less than two weeks, and i've ran into many issues. when i try to request a repair or replacement, it asks me to choose symptoms but there's no way to choose any. problem 1: when i first turned it on to set it up, all of the text was upside down and backwards. restarting worked. 2: the device decided it didn't stay off anymore. i tried turning it off from 3 sources, but it always came back on. i woke up to find it still turning off and on, and now with a distorted display output. different outlet worked. 3: this afternoon when i went to turn it on and use it, it wouldn't turn on. google search indicates that these problems are all really common. even if all of the fixes worked, there have been so many problems to fix already in so little time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not perfect, but its getting there it seems a new software update comes each month to make this product better. i’m currently running software version 1302, which has improved interface responsiveness (still needs work but it’s not dreadful like it once was), however i have lost the ability to scale and move the screen and hoping another update will come soon to solve this problem- but this is really my only complaint at this point. overall, there is definitely a lot of work to be done, but i think this is a truly unique product with a lot of cool tech. if you’re able to put up with a few bugs and hold out for a brighter future then go ahead and take the plunge-***and be sure to update the software straight out of the box.*** but if not, i’d wait a few months.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Concept… Poor execution cons: the software is lagging, switching-between apps takes too long. the auto keystone and focus works only handful of times its loud auto plays samsung tv plus when i dont really want to see that on the home screen the recent apps always shows samsung tv plus shuts off automatically the sync with smartthings app is poor (many other reviews also mention the same cons) pros: works for a day and after that its all cons very disappointed. product had so much potential but for now i would not recommend it wait till samsungs fixes all of the above issues

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Previews dont match performance at all when i saw the commercials for this online i was immediately sold. my brother in law was there for the unboxing. he has worked in electronics for years - managed several big box locations. the setup took every bit of his savvy to figure out. after the hours to get it going and logged into all accounts…the dissapointment absolutely settled in. picture was dim, interface with the apps was terrible. it still won’t even open the video apps and allow me to pick a movie. the remote is poor and the system has significant lags. all in all, its pretty terrible. aside from the appearance and a few features, i just threw away $1,000. had we not been in the middle of a move when we had it shipped, we would still be within our return window, and would have sent this back immediately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely laggy, both projector and remote the lens, even though came covered, it has micro scratches/ dust from within the lens, thanks to the new s22 ultra, i was able to capture it on camera, the remote kept disconnecting randomly, the light would blink when press but it does nothing, every time that happen, i have to turn the projector off and restart it, then the remote work until it decides to randomly disconnect again, on top of that, the connection to the freestyle is very bad, sometimes it takes a few clicks to register, sometimes it jumps more than spaces i clicked, both remote and projector is so laggy, even when turned on, the start up sound interrupts itself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tizen must be killed trashed. this tizen os destroyed the futuristic simplicity of the freestyle. the problem is they do not possess the technological advances to keystone a precise picture on a wall when the projector is not perfectly centered. when the projector is sitting diagonal displaying the digital keystone will warp out of line every 15 minutes & there is a rectangular dim offset framing shining around the actual picture. tizen os subjects users to an extremely slow process. lagging navigation is horrible and so sad. connecting micro hdmi to apple tv is flawless but creates a bulky equipment that destroys the simplicity of the freestyle. why didn’t samsung partner with google tv os or preferably apple which is the leader in refined perfection of software?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It was great for 24 hours so don't get me wrong i love the idea of this product. however, the fact that the second day after the product was delivered i had to ship it out for repairs. the projector was extremely hot, only sound would come through and it had a green screen. it would shut off on its own and wouldn't turn back on. the fact that i pre-ordered this item for so much h money and had to ship it right back is such a downer. and i recieved zero compensation for it. lame.

I live in an apartment and can pick from several walls for the projector and then easily put it way and out of sight. The main caveat is the brightness. I primarily watch shows at night and the brightness is more than adequate for that use. If I want to use it during the day, I either need to darken the room or sacrifice the picture quality. Additionally, the auto-keystone is never perfect and manual adjustment is generally needed, but the process is straightforward and quick.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not ready for prime time - very disappointed can't be setup with a phone. the app won't work. the app item qr code invokes an error code. if you do get a connection, the projector randomly disconnects. the manual setup is painful. the ui/ux is illogical and difficult to navigate and is lacking. streaming apps are a difficult experience as is the channel guide. the projector will only display on smooth, large surfaces. otherwise, the projector constantly tries to adjust angles and focus, eventually giving up and showing the smallest possible image. the metal stand is faulty. the bracket constantly slips, allowing the projector to fall to the base. it then loses focus and has to be setup again. i’d say more, but samsung limits the size of this text box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Possibilities... this has all the makings of a great projector but as noted in the other comments, it is far too slow to actually use. apps take forever to load and videos stutter, lag, and re-start. the ui interface is equally slow; click a button and wait...did it actually move? no, try again. then it moves twice. worse the device doesn't stay at the angle you want it to until you tighten the screws a bit, but they're just plastic and i don't have much confidence in their ability to hold up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought it for my boat. i purchased the freestyle so that we can watch a large screen on my 54ft yacht. what i like about this product: - it works well with our hotspot and the internet in general. - the quality is great. maybe too great for our salon since we can see all the hair and wrinkles on the actors. - sound via the jbl xtreme is great. can't beat. - small, compact and functional. - no time lag or display lag once it is showing a movie. - great slim, sexy remote control. - it is exactly what i was looking for, a small unit to project on a big screen in confined space. cons: the case should have a pockets for the remote control and power supply.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't buy this, is not worth it! the display is permanently tilted left. i had to add a small wedge at the base. but the worst problem is the extremely loud and annoying fan or static noise. the cranking is so loud that you can hear it even when the volume of the unit is cranked up to 50... it had only been in use for 2 days when the cranking started and i've tried turning it on yesterday and today but rattleing only got louder. can't use it anymore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible auto-leveling; Slow, clunky OS i'm disappointed with several aspects of the hardware and software. the auto-leveling of the display image is terrible, routinely tilted by a few degrees. the projector stand fails to hold it at the angle it has been set. navigating the menus is horribly slow. gaming app support is sorely lacking - no steam link , nor stadia, nor geforce now. i totally dislike ads on the home screen and that the samsung tv plus app autoplays, even if i'm just trying to navigate settings - support confirmed that this behavior cannot be disabled! smart view does not work for me, because despite all the guides, there is no "smart view" button to be found after i've added the device to smartthings. everything that is supposed to be smooth is just not good or not working as expected. :-(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Potential at a High Price the features this projector had are something i never had seen before in other projectors. i generally like samsung products and when i saw they were making this i jumped at the chance. what i like so far: -sound. i can hear it from across the room loud and clear and i don't need to turn it up to do so. -picture quality is good when looking at close range, however projecting it farther away you do lose quality and brightness. i kind of expected that. -wifi and bluetooth connections so far i don't have any problems what i don't like: -cost: at almost 1000, it so far doesn't justify it costing this much. i think at 500 it would be more reasonable. -power cable is too short, i would have liked it to be at least 10ft since the battery pack was not available when i purchased it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not up to par i was excited to finally get my freestyle after a few month waiting but i’m disappointed in the overall performance. i’m having the similar issue with the cradle. even when the screws are tightened, cannot keep the unit from drooping when it is placed near a 45 degree angle... it just slowly droops down. i’ve tightened the screws but it did not fix it. i’m also having issues with the focus. i can’t get it to be nearly as crisp (even with the manual focus) as other projectors.

I take it on every trip and vacation I take. Set it up on the ceiling and let my kid watch his kid shows while we put him to bed. Highly recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nifty little projector i do like the portability and the image quality. however, i did have issue with the projector not locking in place for long due to gravity. i did try and adjust the screws on the side, but there doesn't seem to be a dedicated tool to use, as a regular screw driver just started to strip it. after nearly breaking the head off of one screw i was able to use pliers to tighten the sides to keep it from drooping. i do wish there was some sort of instruction or added tool to help fix this issue before i had to nearly break parts. i even scoured the internet but nothing was said except to call support for a 'cradle position issue'. you could just say "tighten side screws", but i would like to know what tool should be used as a flat head did too much damage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for home use I use this projector daily. It's not perfect and could be a bit faster with apps. Some apps also seem to not be optimized for the projector (paramount plus). Netflix works great if that's your main app. Either way, I would totally buy this again. I am able to carry it when I go to a Airbnb, friends home, or move it around my bedroom depending on what I am doing. I wish it was a bit faster and brighter but it definitely does the job in a dark room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Software issues i too really want to love this. the menus are laggy and freeze. it is almost unusable because of the slow lagging. i have software 1081 and says it is up to date? all of the reviews that i can find talk about this issue. it really ruins the product. i will definitely return it if it does not improve dramatically in the next week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worthless i ordered my first freestyle shortly after launch. it would not stand up on its own as advertised. iy also would not stop trying to focus. every few seconds the screen would go black and continue to turn of amd on. i was asked to return the projector as it just may have been a defective one. i then purchased a second/replacement one only to have an even worse experience. it too would not stand on its own. the screen would continue to adjust to a large scale then small every few minutes. it also had the same issue with continuously turning off and on. this prohector is is very expensive and not worth the price. save your time and money

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 50/50 pros: picture is great, it's clear, it's large & lots of apps. speaker is good. cons: power on is finicky, nothing happens or it sounds like it's powering on then does not, you can only watch in a very dark room (no tossing your tvs for this one), unless it is pointed straight ahead at the wall you will have an uneven frame around the actual picture (there is an additional few inches of frame around the picture itself), randomly re-focuses while watching. all in all, i don’t think it’s ready for this kind of price tag. i wouldn’t recommend right now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful Portable Projector! Anyone that knows me knows I Love Samsung. However, with that being said this is my honest opinion of the Freestyle Projector. Number one this was so easy to set up that it was unbelievable, I took 1-2 minutes using the Samsung SmartThings app, and even set it up with my home WiFi without having to do it manually! I also love the portability of the Freestyle, the all-round design gives you 360 sound with surprising audio and volume in any location. After playing around with the Freestyle around the house and watching it on the wall and even on the ceiling while laying down, we took the Freestyle outside Saturday night plugged the USB C cord into one of my portable battery packs, and watched UFC Fight Night in Full HD on the side of the house out by the fire in the backyard. I can even control the Freestyle with the included remote or with the Samsung SmartThings app, my only negative comment is that the lens protector does not secure as well as I would like it is easy to knock it off if bumped. I absolutely love the Samsung Freestyle Projector, it gave me the same Samsung Smart TV and Samsung TV+ experience that I already get with my two other Samsung Smart TVs but in a compact and, most importantly portable package that I can take anywhere I want!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool toy however buyer beware the projector is a fun device to use when it works. it was easy to sign in to all my streaming services and the picture projected on an inside wall looked good. it adapted for angles well and the remote was east to use. remote code was the same as the one on a nearby samsung tv that kept reacting to the remote for the freestyle. solved by using app on phone to control the freestyle. after only using it 3 or 4 times it then failed to turn on. a quick search found i was not the only one with this issue. they were unable to repair it and offered a refund as they did not have inventory. the samsung website had inventory but that was different inventory and they could not send me one. instead they would give me credit for $250 less than it would cost to buy the new one.

Getting the device hooked up to a Bluetooth speaker was simple, but to selecf the projector to use the Bluetooth speaker was a whole different experience. You can't use the projector speaker alone outdoors, it is not loud enough. Overall, it is an okay device. If I would have known the mediocre of the device I would not have paid $1000. Also, 3 days after I purchased, they lowered the price AND also gave an option to receive free if you purchase a new phone. I would have much rather purchased a phone and received this free. I'm not too pleased with the whole situation, but it is what it is and I'll use it with the kids movie nights

Rated 5 out of 5 by from are you getting a $900 experience? i didn't fall hook line and sinker based off the "non-biased reviews", but i did have a belief i would be getting a premium experience. it was not the case for a nearly $1k device. the software is laggy and inputs are as well. why isn't there an easy size adjustment button on the remote i have no idea. i'm giving it 3 stars, because in the right environment, it doesn't seem to be that bad. but it's main competitors are nearly $300 or cheaper. maybe if they come out with a different version. a 4k one preferably. this should've been an ultimate showcase to stream your videos or show pictures off your new s22 ultra but not this time. could've been but no one in testing was bold enough to speak up to fix things before launching

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Portable projector i have never been a true fan of samsung products just because i always learn toward anything apple. since apple doesn’t have a projector yet and i wanted a good quality, portable, and not over $1,000 i went with this one. i haven't had any problems with it! great picture quality, fast, and great sound. so whoever is leaving comments about it having bad quality/focus, not staying up, or too much money then you either got a defective one or you should have bougt the $4,000 4k samsung projector. you get what you pay for with a projector under $1000. also samsung is always here to help when other projector companies dont respond 8/10 times you contact them. this was a great puchase and look forward to software updates to come!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Promising but flawed great potential ultimately let down by poor execution. highs: - great size and portability - useful selection of apps (built-in and downloadable) - stylish lows: - incredibly sluggish ui; interactiosn can take seconds to register - often fails to power on without unplugging, showing a green screen instead - unable to remain horizontal without slipping unless a scary amount of torque is applied to the soft plastic (!) side screws - did i mention how slow the ui is? - auto keystone is clever when it works, but often skews the image a few degrees necessitating manual override - fails to reconnect to bluetooth speaker more often than not when powering back on, necessitating a trip back to the terriblly laggy home screen to reach settings and fix it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As advertised it is a good little projector, just as advertised. i only have 2 complaints. you are limited on apps to choose from (cinemax for example). and if you are going to watch at certain levels, you have to put something under the front so it won't continue to creep to the floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great potential looking forward to software updates to address glitches. keystone is not reliable and requires manual adjustments constantly. scaling the screen freezes and requires disconnecting often to unfreeze and adjust. not compatible with external charger. the remote delays are extremely frustrating! you'll need a light wall to project no matter how much you adjust in expert settings it'll be too dark with a dark wall. product surface is not great, it has marks already from attaching to tripod. product and charger get extremely hot with light use. audio is great and is not top heavy. base is reliable and good! has potential with software updates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Portable projector on the go this is the samsung freestyle projector that takes portable to the next level. the slightly bigger than mug size projector can connect easily to your samsung phone via wired hdmi cable or over the wi-fi. i love this feature which is great for demonstrating at a gathering or meetings at work. the ease of use with its simplistic remote through the ui navigation makes it a breeze to use. to make it even sweeter samsung has added mics all around for with assistance such as alexa and google assistant. now your wish it’s command.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can watch shows in bed after a bad car accident years ago laying in bed watching tv was impossible. now i can lay in bed and watch whatever i want on my ceiling clearly. that is worth the money alone. there are software issues and i am sure samsung will fix (based on their history). i am slightly biased since i am a huge samsung fan. all my appliances, tvs, phones, tablets, and watches are samsung. i own 2 other small portable projectors but this one is the best because of the angle from the head of my bed to the ceiling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Software bugs, Keystone Issues to name a few i pre-purchased this in early january after watching the ces video announcement online. i've been a loyal fan of samsung products until now. what were they thinking? the software is incredibly buggy. the remote response is delayed by seconds. the body seems cheap and i'm worried about breaking the product which habitually moves downward like it's top heavy. the keystone alignment buzzes and autofocuses every few minutes. it's distracting. you can hear the machine and the video takes at least ten seconds to correct. the freestyle is a waste of our hard earned money and is a huge disappointment from what we've always thought of as a trusted brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Concept but a lot of performance's problems the concept it is great but the keystone correction and autofocus does not work well at all. also there are problems of delays with the remote control. a lot of problems loading apps. xfinity stream beta app does not load, it stay in the loading screen and never get an image. i have that app working on all my samsung smart tv's without problem. i do not know what it is happening with this product. you need to release a firmware update urgently in order to solve all these problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Potential wasted ive now used it for 2 months. thera is such great potential for this product but it falls short. first the good. its a great picture when you get it to work. brighter than you would think for the lumens. very portable. the bad. the autonfocus and auto keystone work horribly the user interface is sluggish and does not respond well thw hinges are not steady and it moves will watching media. maybe some of these cab be fixed with software updates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compact projector I use the freestyle for everyday use. Movies, TV, video games, streaming, etc etc. Works really well, easy to set up and is very user friendly. Doesn't have a lot of lumens so a really dark room is needed. Still works well with some light, but not with an open window or bright light on. Sound is decent and easily connects to wireless speakers/headphones. Very portable too, took it camping and used it in our cabin. Recommend using a nice screen to get the best picture quality. Overall, I enjoy it and I'm pleased with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Samsung is Misleading Consumers this projector does not do what samsung claims in their slick marketing campaign. besides the low quality hardware and design flaws mentioned in other reviews, the main issue is that the auto focus/keystone/leveling functionality doesn't work, which makes it unusable. it's not possible to watch something when the screen is tilted and out of focus, making this projector worthless. worse yet, i chatted with samsung support and they said they would upgrade my ticket to tier 2 and make it a priority. i haven't heard back from anyone at samsung in some time. samsung - will there be a software update to fix the auto focus/keystone/leveling functionality? or should all consumers just return the projector?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart Calibration Good Idea, Poor Execution have been using the projector for the past two weeks. put its portability to work. while the setup is easy and the picture quality is good (1080p), all things considered. the same cannot be said for the smart calibration feature. given it’s not possible to override this auto function, the images often come out cockeyed every time the projector is moved. pretty certain this can be fixed with a software patch but not sure if it’s worth the wait :-( like to withold judgment until the fix is in

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dead within minutes. after setting up and updating firmware videos were black and white with brightness and gamma bugged on negative numbers. couldn't find an option to fix, so i did a factory reset. that fixed the issue. watched about 30 mins of videos to make sure all was good, tried to use ambient and said it had an issue and i should turn off and then on and try again. i did that a couple of times and kept getting the error. so i just turned it off. this morning i tried to turn on the freestyle and it won't come on. i even used the button on the unit itself, but nothing. it's dead.

Smart TV the size of a bluetooth speaker! i've used the freestyle for just over a week. i project onto my ceiling & get about 60" in width. the picture is clear, audio is great, and it's intuitive to navigate. connecting streaming apps (netflix, prime video, etc.) was really easy and i had no issues linking my accounts. downloading apps that weren't preloaded was easy as well. samsung tv plus is also a nice touch. set up was also really easy using the manual option. there was a software update the first time i turned the projector on, and i believe that's solved the auto-focus/clicking noise issue others have mentioned. haven't experienced any of those issues. i barely hear the device when it's on. overall a great product. simply amazing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from it turned on once $700 wasted i feel let down i literally watched one 28 min show and powered it down after and put the lens cap on. the very next day wont turn on at all its got power and the light is on but pressing the power button does nothing from the remote or on the projector itself im not looking for a repair or replacement its not worth it ill chock it up to a bad decision to buy it on impulse should have read the reviews just gonna take the loss

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love love love it did i say that i love it because i do. let me state it a why. usb type-c connectivity now i can carry only one adapter that can power my phone, laptop, projector and anything else that can be powered by the usb type-c. smartthings app compatibility works flawlessly everything from controlling the projector, tap projector to screen mirror, the calibration and ambient mode has limitless possibility. the projector is easily manageable and configurable in so many different angles via this stand. wireless connectivity bluetooth there's so many things that i love about the hardware. it's really limitless the uses on travel and at home. the only downfall is not being able to connect it to my google assistant. this thing will turn on when my phone is close come on that's sick. i love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feature Disappointment sadly, i'm disappointed in this product. it was sold as a great way to watch videos in a portable fashion. unfortunately, a wifi network is required to wirelessly connect my s22 ultra. that's hard to find in remote areas of the country. true, i can turn my phone into a hotspot for a connection, but that becomes very expensive. this could be done directly with a cable but samsung chose to use a micro hdmi connection. try finding one of those cables without using a multitude of adapters. why not a standard hdmi or another usb c configured for the video, or even bluetooth? the unit is certainly large enough to accommodate. was also disappointed in video quality. suppose to be 1080p but auto focus doesn't work that well. straight on projection, edges were blurry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Want to like it, but can't stand on its own i love this thing, so far the smart calibration has worked really well for me, and i have used it in 3 different rooms and distances. the initial setup took awhile to calibrate, but i have seen a ton of improvement since. the ui is easy and intuitive, if not a bit slow but for all it does right out of the box i was impressed. it's killer is the fasteners from the device to the cradle. i have to use something else to prop it up, which is unfortunate with this things price tag. it's so close to being really great, but with such a big design flaw and them feeling very cheap i can't give this a better rating currently

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Didn't even last me a week i was so excited to use it and it worked well for us for about three days and then stopped working. it wouldn't power on and the remote would blink red after being charged for a whole 24hrs i purchased it at best buy and ridiculously got charged 10% for a restocking fee on a device that was a complete failure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly good small device for small meetings, or for personal enjoyment. set up is easy, but workjng with it could use more smart adjustments. it needs a lot of “fine tunning” which it is annoying, specially for a device meant to be portable. however, once you have it to your specifications it works beautifully. it is in the high side of price, and people tend to correlate that with output quality. independently of the price, this is a small projector for small rooms and simple set ups. if you are looking for high definition laser projector, this is not your best choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome When it Works... cons: - the interface is very slow, which affects all of these issues below!! - auto-keystone works, then it doesn't. there are times where you move the freestyle and it won't readjust. also, when it's on a flat surface it'll still tilt your image. - manual adjustment does not work at all. you try to adjust keystone and nothing moves! - bluetooth audio is crackling! which is annoys me the most because there's no 3.5mm jack and the built in speaker is not loud enough! pros: - hdmi works flawlessly - color is beautiful - image remains crisp even at full 100 inches it'd be nice to have a snappy and responsive interface & keystone that works 100% of the time and manual adjustments that work. it's very promising, and i hope these will get fixed with updates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient for my line of work & for personal use. I work as a multimedia specialist and The Freestyle has helped in replacing our old projector which wasn’t up for the task. I love the portability and the fact it fits in my backpack without adding much weight. It’s stable enough to project a good quality image for a large group of people. It’s relatively small size makes it inconspicuous so it’s not immediately noticed by the audience. I love that it takes up very little space in the home as there isn’t much space for a full-size TV. The software could use a tiny bit of work. Otherwise The Freestyle is a good investment if you need a large portable screen or have little room for a full-size TV.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New idea, need improvements Got this for our new home thinking would be useful for practicing music and family/friends gathering. The overall idea is neat, but there are many many issues with the device (hard and software wise) that could be improved. First off, the power cord is way too short, making it impossible to find an ideal spot to put it when you need to move it from one room to the other. Always a problem finding a plug that's close enough; then the device gets really really hot even when put to sleep, I have to always unplug it to prevent over-heating, but then after you unplug it, you'll have to set it up from start every time. There's also the software issue - when you are viewing something you can't have quick access to adjust the projecting angle/size. You always have to pause whatever you are watching and go back to the main menu to set things up, and then you go back and forth multiple times just to get the angle/focus/size right. The project is not super bright, so it has to be used in a dark place, which is problematic making the device kinda pointless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unmatched Addition to a tech Ecosystem admittedly it took a while for the firmware to catch up with the ambition. now that things appear more stable, i can see the vision and limitless use cases. the ability to send video to this device and view content previously limited to tiny screens as an immersive experience is profound. even better with a battery which allows full wireless portability. if you're on the fence but into having the latest and greatest and love digging into the your techs features for a custom experience, this is for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lasted 2 Weeks the freestyle seemed like a great product at first. there were a few software bugs which, while annoying, were not really a deal breaker. however, 2 weeks later, i noticed the freestyle was warm to the touch despite not being powered on. i was not able to turn on the freestyle after this. i tried pulling power and waiting for it to cool down, used the remote and the touch controls on the projector itself, no matter what the projector would no longer turn on. i contacted support and told me i had to send it in for repair. it is incredibly disappointing that 1) the product stopped working after 2 weeks, and 2) the customer service opted for repair rather than replacing the unit after failing such a short time after getting it.

I agree the fasteners on the pivot should not be plastic. But it does hold even at extreme angles contrary to other reviews. Sound surprisingly not terrible. Internal apps slightly slow but nowhere near unusable. Phone App works well as remote. Keystone works well. Blown away! Not to brag but I have 3 and I can't with how that made these be able to screw into a light fixture! 11/10

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Headache i wanted to love this projector so badly, it is just not ready for consumer use. i had this projector replaced 3x and each time they all had the same issues. 1). over heating, 2). horrible ui/ux, 3). shuts down and consisitenly factory resets itself, 4). powers off and never turns back on. spoke with customer service for over 3 hours “trouble shooting” which consisted of unplugging the device and plugging it back in, using different outlets, and nothing really more. there is no physical reset button only within the horrible ui if you can navigate there and if it isn’t grayed out. overall, this was a stressful headache and not worth the price for the stress to try to make it work.

Do not buy this auto keystone and auto focus - never worked from day one, always needed manual adjustment. randomly resets itself - the projector, at least once a week, will fully reset itself. that means once a week you are setting up the projector from square one, including logging back into every single one of your streaming services. the most prevalent issue that has rendered the projector completely useless is it will no longer download or open any of the streaming apps (ie netflix, prime video, hulu, etc). this $1000 purchase of a projector has been an absolute nightmare from square one and i hope that in writing this review i will save some of you from making the unfortunate mistake of purchasing the samsung freestyle.

It is convenient and practical to set up the projector for movies and and tv shows and simply turn it off to return my room to its original configuration. The sound is amazing on this thing. The only downside I see so far is slow processing and apps crashing sometimes. Although rare, it does happen, forcing a restart. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and would purchase another one in a heartbeat.

I have to perform a factory reset every time it acts up, which means entering all of my pswds for streaming networks. This is very frustrating. The remote control stopped working 2 weeks ago for an unknown reason, so know I have to use my phone as the remote. That isn’t bad unless my kid wants to watch something and can’t because I’m at work. I can’t believe I spent over $800 for a desk lamp, because that is all this projector is capable of.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disbelief Samsung let this go out the door... what a great concept product. but it very much feels like it's in a prototype stage. the cpu running the os is severely underpowered. this results in delays in simple menu functions of 2-4 seconds for each click of the remote. the brightness? don't plan on using this during the day. it's simply not bright enough. at night if the projector is even slightly in keystone mode, the right side of the screen text is too dim to read and blurry. i will give it another week, but this is most certainly going back to samsung. i am extremely disappointed and can't help but think the people at sony are laughing their rear ends off at samsung right now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, but pricey build and design quality are excellent, as you would expect from samsung. there isn't a more aesthetically pleasing or versatile projector out there, picture quality is superb, the os is decent once it has a chance to "settle," and i like how convenient it is to switch to an hdmi source. a bit pricey, especially for lacking a micro-hdmi adapter but overall excellent product. samsung, when are the other accessories going to release?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Samsung Does it Again wow, this thing is an amazing piece of engineering. the freestyle projector has all the latest features; auto focus and keystone, screen mirroring and airplay, built in smart apps, etc. and the picture quality is amazing. very bright colors with crisp images and this was tested in a fully lit room. i am sure the quality only gets better with dark rooms or night time. as far as the speaker is concerned, it gets the job done and is good enough to sit through an entire movie. the volume is fairly loud and there is enough bass and treble to get through movies. the coolest part is that you can connect a bluetooth speaker of your choosing to enhance the sound and theater experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost right my main criticism comes from their highly advertised auto keystone feature, and not so highly advertised software. while auto keystone works, it works in limited condition, and its actually slower than my expectation. whenever i move the device side way, not only it doesn't do auto keystoning properly, it outright doesn't want to work. and when it does work, its ever so slightly not perfect. i hope this can be fixed with software update. i think software is probably my biggest killswitch. the fact that this device doesn't support google assistant, which is far more widely used in the state, is its biggest mistake. and its still extremely slow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unique use case. An odd surprise. Firstly, I only use it at night indoors. Also I have an exposed wall that is vaulted up so the projector hits it at a very ideal angle. Thirdly, I hit this wall with Projector Paint as I was planning on dedicating this wall to a projector setup but it is only painted drywall no screen. I have the Freestyle roughly 11' away making a 146" screen which is outside the recommended usage but I find it in this instance only a little dim and it surprisingly works well. It also provides a very clean wireless setup for my area with bluetooth audio connection which isn't typically included in other brand projectors that are around this price point at the time of this writing. 1080 FHD isn't distracting for someone used to a 80 plus inch 4k display when seated around 7 feet away or more. The user interface is a little slow and for some reason the Internet is slow through it versus my other devices. For instance, I can stream faster through a Samsung tablet linked as a wireless display device than just the Freestyle itself. By the way, the wireless display interface works seamless for PS5 remote play or any PC. It's a little behind for gaming but great for viewing. I even have RGB lighting everywhere and toned down with the Projector Painted wall it doesn't cause much bloom. I was planning on buying a short-throw triple laser projector but now I am dragging my feet there. It's that good, but again, in this case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fell apart in only 2 hours i had great expectations, but had a number of issues with this product! 1. after 2 hours of usage, the projector technology broke down and ended up being a fully green screen before the projector shutting down completely. 2. for the 2 hours it did work, i had calibration issues where the screen was not entirely horizontal but always slightly slanted 3. construction and materials are also cheap, when repositioning it squeaks. 4. getting a full refund has also been a less than satisfactory experience without it being fully resolved at this point. all in all not worth the price or headaches.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buggy, stuttering mess i was really excited about the freestyle and pre-ordered it right away. very sad to be writing this review but stay away from this thing. the software is a laggy, buggy mess - some highlights: just getting around the menu is unbelievably laggy streaming shows stutter and freeze settings either can't be changed, or don't react until you press the button multiple times somehow my brightness and gamma got bugged to huge negative values, and they can't be fixed by even a factory reset. factory reset doesn't seem to do anything except sign you out. trying to change the values manually does nothing. honestly shocked a company as large as samsung would release a product as broken as this. sincerely hope they can fix the issues with future software updates but right now - it's unusable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1 WEEK AND SENT IT BACK FOR REPAIRS i was hooked on the concept. i pre-ordered and it took months to receive it. the setup was easy and i was able to use it right away but noticed that the keystone was off. i tried adjusting but to no avail. the weight of the projector is too much for the tiny screws, it kept dipping. it worked for the first week, but then crashed and was unable to turn it on. still waiting for my "new" unit to arrive so i can do my expensive beta testing. what a letdown. 2 stars for concept only. i feel bad that i recommended this product to my friends and family.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than I expected i honestly loved this product! i haven't used much yet but setup is super easy, i'm about in my late 20s so tech is something for me to figure it out. for me, it was super self explanatory s i setup and use. i love that we have a simple remote control with voice activation as well. there is so much to be done with it that i think i need more time to use all the features. the image is waaaaaaaay better than tv which is a surprising feature for any projector under 1,000 dollars. i'm confused by the so-so reviews cuz its easy to use and the quality is superb. i bought it with my credit while buying a s22ultra, cuz is kinda pricey for me .also, i love that i dont need to be by the wall to use it. i just wish the hinge would be more like the samsung flip z3 than at certain settings

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn’t live up to the hype so far this purchase has been a disappointment. have to constantly restart to get it to respond to the remote. when starting a streaming movie there is distortion on the bottom quarter of the picture. again have to restart. down loaded the xfinity streaming app and all i get is a blank screen. the app works fine on my roku box. the picture looks washed out unless its totally dark. the trapezoid light behind the picture when projecting from the side does nothing to improve the experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meets expectations; kinks remains this is a device for those open to new experiences in unexpected places. functionality is rich, execution is overall 4 stars. @samsung: please fix the annoying and - currently - unremovable default setting to launch in samsung tv mode and allow to not share the data with samsung. it is illegal, i think, to enforce that, even in the us. i want the device to launch in smarttv mode like a normal smart tv with the option to launch with whatever the last app was i was using. other issues: 1) the tilt angle of the device is sometimes prone to change; it is not well calibrated to stay at 45 degrees angle. 2) the automatic screen calibration is 80% there. 3) double the length of the usb-c cable. 4) bluetooth connection needs improvement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great concept, quality hardware, dreadful software while the freestyle will do a lot to help setup it requires more than pulling a panel out of a box. from a hardware pov samsung has it figured out, setup properly the freestyle delivers an excellent picture. after the software update, it's the os that is still fails hard. tizen is super slow and laggy. do not leave automatic keystone correction or focus on or it'll randomly irratically skew both. settings are excurciatingly s!ow. immediately disable samsung channels or it'll start streaming tennis or whatever crap. it needs android or a firmware option with all the tizen bloat stripped out. settings, hdmi 1, and a streaming receiver, miracast, chromecast. something basic because the cpu in this thing is overwhelmed. buy a shield pro and a micro hdmi adapter for a quality experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Projector, Bad QA and/or Materials i do understand most of the complaints in regards to navigating the menus. i'll start with remote; it should have a source select button instead of solely relying on voice and a almost 10 step process using the ui. samsung should have used a better processor and ram configuration so that the experience is silky smooth, this thing lags a lot!! mine came with small chips alone the front panel edge and for 2 days i thought i had a smug but when i wiped it off it was a scratch right out of the plastic lol. i'm worried the projector will not remain in position after a lot of use and adjusting but that is tbd. i'll end this on a good note with stating the picture quality is great, the sound is above average and a lot better than i expected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Purchased this item a few months ago. When it works as designed it is a delight. The screen is crisp, resolution is great, sounds is ok. It has some of the most frequently used apps available. I use an Iphone and screen mirroring works great. It is definitely portable, even though you have to connect it to power. If your going camping or things of that nature, one always has an extra power source so its no big deal. It stands and points pretty simply as well. (Samsung Battery Pack sold separately) Connect a Bluetooth speaker for best experience. There are glitches that happen when using the product that I have experienced. For example, i am displaying the screen with all of the features on auto. The screen will play great but then out of nowhere the screen will auto adjust to a different aspect ratio or direction. No way to change it back but going into the settings (which takes sometime to load) then manually adjusting the screen again. The auto features work great when they want to but sometimes they act up, id say an 80/20 percent of the time. I have also experienced a glitch in which my Samsung automatically resets itself to factory default. Having to reinstall everything and connecting to Wi-Fi again out of nowhere. Seems odd but again 8/10 times it will work great, its just those rare times are a real inconvenience. Overall im glad with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size i decided to buy the freestyle on a whim and thought i would regret it but once i got to playing around with it i was convinced it was no mistake! the picture quality was terrific although i do not recommend projecting on a heavily texured wall. i love how the picture adjusts and it is so user friendly. the size is perfect for me as i do plan on using it anywhere i possibly can and it would make it so much easier to move my living room furniture around with out having to lift a heavy and large television. this purchase will make my life easier to say the least! samsung has not let me down throughout all these years of purchasing cell phones, tv's and home appliances! love all my samsung products!

Even without that issue, this projector is not worth the price. It is difficult to connect devices, it does not adjust properly to screen and the volume is very muffled. Overall it's a great projector with almost all the features of a samsung smart tv. However you can't set up Google assistant as your voice assistant on the Freestyle. I like the auto adjustment feature to reshape the screen depending on angle, but do not shoot it high degree -- you will sacrifice the screen size. I place it about 8 feet / 20 degree from the wall without a screen, it makes about 90 in" screen. The screen is great with lights off. It connects to my Synology server without any issue. It connects my PC or Macbook Air with or without cable.

It has lots of different apps installed and the the ability to hook up to many devices. I did not give it 5 stars because the main app that controls the system runs slow. As a first generation projector it meet my expectations. What I am hoping for is an update for the software to make it smoother and quicker.

The convenience of having everything built into the device and it's size makes it easy to mount and keeps it from being intrusive. The picture looks great! Bright, clear and smooth. I forgot how digital screens affect fps versus a projected image. I easily paired it to a speaker bar and within 20 minutes of signing into all my favorite Smart features, I was enjoying the Freestyle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Freestyle crashed on day day one well for starters it took over a week for it to arrive, once i set it up ran perfectly, great pictures at 100 " then it would not turn back on had to send it to their service center on april 6th ups still haven't received it now they say monday the 18th and could take two or more weeks to repair and another two weeks of poor shipping all why i have to make payments at samsung financial services. i won't be ordering from them again, i'll by local and if breaks just go get a local refund. anyway i hope it works longer than one day when ever i do get it back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Hopes, but let down in the end i had really high hopes for this product. i finally pulled the trigger and received it a little over a week ago. the projector was awesome for the first few days. out of nowhere the auto “keystone” feature started glitching. half way through a show the screen would suddenly turn and stay crooked until i manually reset the keystone. today i went to turn on the unit and nothing happened. all i got was one small white light but no projector. i unplugged it, plugged it into different outlets, tried different cords and nothing. the unit was on bur the projector bulb would not turn on. on top of that, there is no way yo hard reset it unless you can see the screen. overall very dissapointed in samsung, product has been returned and i will not be purchasing another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly good and bad pros. the picture on a projector screen is actually amazing (at 70"). the colors are bright and vivid, and the darks are dark. there's no pixilation or honeycomb. the onboard speaker is not bad. the portability is great. i was surprised at all the smart features. cons. the lack of instructions is absurd. the project doesn't hold its position. i have to prop the main body otherwise it drops. the samsung logo is on the wrong side of the body which is confusing which side is supposed to be "up". the lens cover does not lock in place so it basically just falls off. they advertise this projector is supposed to self correct with their keystone technology, but i always have to manually adjust it in keystone. the menu could have been designed better and the remote should have more shortcuts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Apps not working if you want to use any popular tv/movie apps like youtube, netflix, hbo max, and hbo, this projector could not satisfy you. i bought this project to watch tvshows from the above apps that my family have a membership. however, i couldn't install them. i first thought that this is a simple bug. then, i reached out to technical supports for 4 weeks (every weekend). any staffs could not resolve this issue with various and multiple attempts including setting changes and factory resets. i wanted to refund it because it doesn't have the apps functionality unlike their advertising. however, during this time, the refund period (30 days) was over, so support staffs said that i could not refund it. i am writing this review in the hope that no one else has the same pain as me.

The remote control has a sticker that looks like a refurbished product (photos attached). The project functionality is very poor: only can use at night or really dark room, the keystone not working as my expectation (video attached). I will return this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super easy to use and easy to move around! Got The Freestyle about a month ago. Has worked great from day 1. Super impressed with how easy it is to use. Not the brightest picture but I use in my basement with low lighting which works out. Set up is easy and can put away easily when I’m not using it. The built in smart features work decently but I decided to go ahead and plug in my fire stick via the micro hdmi on the side to navigate my apps easier. I usually Max out the size of the screen on the wall I use so probably a little bigger than the 100 inches mentioned in the description. Also got a Samsung Soundbar around the same time. I can toggle the sound between my TV and the projector easily via the Smart Things app on my phone. The sound bar connects via Wi-Fi to the projector and the sound matches up perfectly with the picture!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool projector, terrible customer support Product is actually pretty great but, the customer service and technical support is awful. Received a brand new Freestyle and setup was very easy, picture quality very good in the dark. I had to angle the projector at a 15-20 degree angle to get the picture to focus, not a big deal but the background light was askew and gave it a strange look. Called Samsung and rather than send me a replacement told me I had to send it to a repair center with no timeline for it to be fixed. I called the repair center and nobody ever answers or returns phone calls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of features in a compact, versatile package I've had this for a couple of months now and so far, overall, I am pleased with it. I have it setting on my dresser, projecting onto a wall about 7-8 feet away resulting in a 75" screen. It is angled upwards and to the side but the keystone correction has worked flawlessly for me. After using this for about a month, I wanted to get one of the cheaper projectors on Amazon to try out and compare to. I spent about $200 so I didn't expect it to necessarily be a fair comparison but the Freestyle was so much better than the cheaper one in every way imaginable. I didn't realize exactly how much I appreciate the keystone correction on the Freestyle until I didn't have it. I mean, the one from Amazon *did* have horizontal keystone correction but not vertical. If I had kept it set up in my bedroom, the projector would have to have been left at the foot of the bed, taking up floor space. Additionally, there were several areas of the screen that got blurry and not nearly as clear as the Freestyle. Unlike the Freestyle which feels very well built, the other unit felt like a kids toy, very cheaply made. After about 10 minutes, I ended up putting the other projector back in the box and returned it. I mainly use the Freestyle to watch YouTube and Vudu and for that, it's worked pretty flawlessly. My primary complaint, like most people, is that it just isn't as bright as I'd like it to be. With the lights dimmed, it's still acceptable, it just makes darker content hard to see at times. The audio is surprisingly loud and clear but I did opt to set it up with a bluetooth sound bar that makes it just a bit better and allows for more bass. I also have this set up with some off-brand bluetooth headphones and it's paired to my Buds 2 Pro but the Buds seem to have a connection issue that causes the audio to cut out a lot. The off-brand headphones don't have that issue. Having said that, the device does pretty well with automatically prompting to connect to whatever bluetooth device I have powered on, only rarely needing to go into the settings to force the connection. One thing that I've struggled with is getting the device to just load to the main screen or the last app I used. It's a crapshoot whether it's going to load to the last app or if I'll be watching some cartoon network episode when it powers on. It's set to go to the last app but that doesn't always happen. It's quite annoying but not a deal breaker. Also, the UI is (like other people stated) slow. Sometimes it seems more responsive than others but usually, there's a significant delay between pressing a button on the remote and something actually happening on the device. Having said that, I'm not using this to go channel surfing so it's a minor annoyance that I've learned to deal with. Like I said, overall, I'm pretty happy with this but I'm still undecided if I'm going to keep it. I can spend a little more money and get a 75" TV that would be much brighter AND have a 4K picture. The only downside is that I would lose the option of portability. I can take this with me on vacation and have a big screen anywhere I go so long as it's in a darker environment. For the original asking price, I'm thinking this deserves about 3.5 stars due to the sluggish UI and dark picture but the form factor, fantastic experience I've had with the auto keystone correction, the sound... basically the overall versatility, I'll push that to 4 stars. Also, while the picture is darker than I'd like, it is a very consistently nice picture with no noticeable distortion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Def, great color, amazing sound! Headline speaks for itself. This thing is fantastic. Idk how they packed so much power into such a small unit but wow. When i powered it up i was truly impressed. I will certainly be getting the battery attachment so i can host movie nights in the park this summer.

Dark Room Use Only Pros; Easily setup, viewing options (Samsung TV, subscriptions like Netflix and Prime), portable, good local sound, pretty good (but not great) picture quality, pretty good sound (can add bluetooth speaker), connected Samsung account. Cons; No controls on projector so if remote breaks..., HORRIBLE picture (nearly can't see anything at all) with just a little light coming through the window or trying to use on partially covered patio.

Returned Bad: The picture quality, need to constant adjustment each time you move it, low luminance that require complete dark to see any text size without blur make it hard to use and recommend. Annoying inability to stop Samsung TV+ to always pop up every time when nothing is running, unless completely disable this feature, which define the purpose of this app. Good: Really like Compact Design. Good sound for the size. OKAY Colors (in full dark). Got it under $400 which makes good value if above bad issues are solved. Bottom line: Unless you using it in total dark and not plan to move it, its good gadget, where you have no option to use regular panel TV.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great overall experience, passable picture quality Bought this a couple of months ago and I have to say I have become quite attached to it. It's very handy in a small bedroom where you don't want to have to fit an entire TV + stand. The UI, though not super fast, does everything that you would expect. Speakers are great and I love how the remote is USB C rechargeable. The auto keystone is a bit finicky sometimes but works fine for the most part. You can always manually correct if it can't get it right. I just wish it were a tad bit brighter, as it's only really usable at night. Pros: - Portability - Lots of features - Clear, powerful speakers - Image quality Cons: - Brightness - UI could be faster - A bit pricey

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A beautiful design that can be improved on Purchased about three weeks ago. The size of the projector is really nice, however, it is definitely lacking in features compared to other ones at the same price point would like to see a brighter green so it can be used in rooms with light, otherwise you have to be in almost total darkness. It was also nice to be able to have actual regular size HDMI connections. Also, a built-in battery would make this perfect otherwise, lower the price and it’s a good enough projector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great projector with high picture quality I purchased it when it's on sale for $399. With this price, I did not expect too much. However, it really surprise me. It has very high quality pictures and I can use remote control to watch youtube and prime video easily. I can also control it using my phone. I can project my photos as well as my video in my phone to the projector easily. I am using iphone, so I did not expect it is as easy as apple tv. However, somehow, it works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Projector for all I gave this to my husband for Christmas 2022 and he was admitted to the hospital on December 28, 2022. I set this to play on his hospital room’s ceiling. It was so easy to set up. You don’t have to be very tech savvy to use this projector. I just typed in my streaming services log ins and we were good to go. I would highly recommend this projector.

I set this up to play on his room’s ceiling and it is unbelievably clear, large screened, and so easy to connect. I would recommend this projector to anyone. You don not have to be tech savvy to use this projector.
