Dialogue is super clear, the bass has that nice, boomy punch without being muddy, and the surround sound really pulls you into what you’re watching. I also like that I can tweak and tinker everything in the SmartThings app instead of digging through TV menus—it makes it easy to get the sound just the way I want it. Paired with my Samsung TV, unlocking Q-Symphony has been a pleasant surprise. As someone who’s always been passionate about movies, music, and gaming, I’ve spent years chasing that “perfect” sound the kind that doesn’t just fill the room but fills you. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Software needs work The hardware is decent. I wouldn't say it's audiophile quality. But watching movie in a small room, I have it in my den. It is fine. However, Samsung expects everyone to have a symmetrical room, because their software doesn't allow you to set volume gain individually. Instead they expect that both left and right rear are exactly same distance apart from the listening position. Uhmmm good one Samsung. NO! They need to allow adjustment of volume/gain L/R individually.

The sound is so much better especially the bass, convenient too that I can use the TV volume controls to control the sound bar. No juggling remotes. Bluetooth options are easy peasy since my smartphone is also Samsung. (What can I say I'm a Samsung girl!) Great value for the price. Awesome sounding movies, tv shows and music videos.. what else could you ask for? Thanks Samsung!

I purchased the 2 seperate surround speakers to evolve an already immersing sound experience. Bass is perfected delivery atop of the full sound! I also have the q60 which is base model compared to this one and even that one is really good also, even that one I bought the 2 spatial speakers after the fact and another stasis of evolved sound to experience that surround sound effect. You simply cannot go wrong with any Q-series soundbar. Buy it with confidence. Truly.

It literally shakes my neighbors walls and we have 20ft between houses. I use it for everything, tv, movies, music, streaming, gaming on TV and ps5 and Xbox, I can take calls with it with Bluetooth. I'm telling you it does it all and it does it well.pairing it with a samsung tv with Q-Symphony is the best sound ever. When I'm watching movies you hear everything that's happening all around you, like if someone shoots someone off screen and you hear the bullet come from behind you Wizz by you it will freak you out thinking was someone shoting at me? Lol. It's like remember when you used to go to the electronics stores and they would have a glass room with a big TV and couch with their best surround sound system they sell with like 15 speakers all around the room and they're playing some movie with a lot of action and booms and you sit there wondering why it never sounds this good when I bring it home and hook it up at my house. We'll this does, and in a much smaller package and easy setup. Just get one and you won't be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for Home Theater. OK for Music. I moved to new home so needed to replace built-in $2.5K audio system and chose the Q990F for the job. From a movie/TV perspective, I'll give the Q990F an A in comparison. The sound is clear and encompassing. However, for music, which is how I am using the soundbar 70% of the time, I grade it as C+. The small speakers just don't offer the depth of sound that larger ones do. My request to address this would be to make the surround speakers higher quality and offer a music listening mode that utilizes them plus the subwoofer. A note that may help those that complain about the bass: Right out of the box, the subwoofer had very little punch. However, by using the INIT process (which included unplugging everything for 10 minutes) the issue was fixed. Good bass with punch!

After over two decades of owning and using a large, tower speaker-based 5.1 surround sound system as my primary home theater setup, I’ve replaced all that imposing gear with this Samsung Q990F soundbar system on 9/9/2025. The “old” 5.1 system consisted of Paradigm Studio 100 v.4 tower speakers, a matching Paradigm Studio CC690 center channel (HUGE center channel), Paradigm surrounds, and an SVS 12” sealed subwoofer, a few years newer than the Paradigm system. That system was simply fantastic for movies, concert Blu-rays, and two-channel music. However, a key difference between my Paradigm system and the Q990F lies in two-channel sound staging and imaging. The Paradigm system excelled in this regard when properly set up in the room, projecting a large, deep, and detailed soundstage that the Q990F simply cannot match. This is to be expected, given the different objectives of the respective speaker designs and types, as well as the overall size of the speakers. The two separate towers separated by about 9 feet between them provided enough space to recreate a convincing soundstage. A one-panel speaker of any type simply won’t keep up in that regard due to physics. All that said, the Q990F does sound good with music, but it’s not “great” compared to my Paradigm system, especially in the areas mentioned above. Now, let’s talk about movies in TrueHD and Atmos… WOW! I’m impressed! It’s loud, clear, thumpy but not lumpy, slow or tubby, and in this arena, I didn’t miss my Paradigm system at all. For such a small subwoofer, there’s a very good amount of LFE thunder. While it doesn’t punch as hard and isn’t quite as nimble as the SVS 12” sub it replaced, I’m surprised as to how good it is. For its compact size, the Q990F delivers a punchy and immersive audio experience that truly enhances the theater atmosphere. However, as with any audio system, proper placement in the room is crucial. Since I’ve already optimized the placement of my speakers during the installation of the Paradigm system, I knew the ideal spot for the subwoofer in my theater room. This setup undoubtedly allows the Q990F to deliver its best performance, and it does. Installing the Q990F yesterday was a breeze. The setup and installation process were straightforward and hassle-free. While you’ll need to download the SmartThings app and add the Q990F to it, this step was a breeze, and there were no issues. My experience was truly “plug and play.” I simply placed the components in their designated locations, plugged everything in, downloaded the SmartThings app, added the Q990F, the speakers, and the subwoofer to the soundbar through the app, and I was up and running in a relatively short amount of time. Thankfully, I didn’t encounter any issues, and everything has been working flawlessly so far. On a side note, I’m growing increasingly tired of constantly signing up for apps and websites to use products I’ve already purchased. I’ve bought and paid for these products, and I simply want to use them without being forced to sign up for additional apps or devices that I don’t need or want. I don’t use Google products and don’t have any other SmartThings devices in my home, so I don’t see the need for any more tracking or unnecessary complications. I understand that this is the age we live in, and companies are trying to capture our attention, but I’m growing increasingly disillusioned with this trend. It’s exhausting and ultimately unnecessary. Ahem! Now then.. After setting up the Q990F and making a few minor adjustments to the settings to optimize the sound for my room, I played some test movie clips to enjoy the audio experience. I began by watching a Mission Impossible clip from “Ghost Protocol” in TrueHD (not ATMOS) on Netflix. The desert sandstorm scene was particularly impressive. The sound was great and not far off from what I vaguely remember the experience being like on my much larger Paradigm system. The room filling sound with grains of sand sounds swirled around the room. While it wasn’t a 360 sound bubble since it wasn’t ATMOS, the sound did move around the room well and to the sides of me. I was impressed and probably the biggest compliment I can give the Q990F is that I just wanted to keep watching the movie because it sounded so good. Next, I tried a couple of scenes from ‘Transformers Rise Of the Beasts’ in ATMOS via Netflix. Again, I was impressed with the overall size of the sound, but for some reason, it wasn’t as immersive as I had expected. It wasn’t even as immersive as the TrueHD sound from M.I. Ghost Protocol. Am I expecting too much from ATMOS? I adjusted some of the speaker levels in the SmartThings app, which helped a small degree, but I’m still not getting satisfying height effects like I thought I would. I’ll make further adjustments to see if I can boost the top firing speakers to assist in getting better height effects from ATMOS soundtracks. Even so, the movie did sound good, especially Optimus Prime and other bassy-voiced Transformers voices. They never became unintelligible and were always clear and easy to hear. I listened between the 30-55 volume settings, and 55 was good and loud in my room. Loud in a good way, like in a theater. Enjoyable. I also noticed that the contrast between the loud and quiet sections of the movies was very well handled. The quiet scenes were appropriately hushed but still had atmosphere and clarity, while the loud scenes contained appropriately sized and clear bombast. The remote control is clean and user-friendly. I use a Logitech Harmony Elite Universal Remote to control my devices, which helps me reduce the number of clickers I need to watch movies, YouTube videos, or other content. Once I set up the Harmony remote to control the Q990F, it functions perfectly. Although Harmony doesn’t currently have the Q990F in its database, it did have the previous model, Q990D, so I used that profile during set up, and it works. I haven’t encountered any compatibility issues either. I only have a TV (a 65-inch Panasonic Plasma via ARC, not eARC), an Apple TV 4K gen 4, and an Oppo BDP-95 Blu-ray player connected. Everything works as expected without any hiccups so far. It’s only been one day. I followed up the above-mentioned movie clips with some James Bond Blu-ray action, particularly the helicopter scene near the end of Skyfall. HOLY WOW! Yes! Prepare for IMPACT! I’m surprised my house is still standing. Bullets whizzing around my theater room, helicopter blades whooping about, CRASH! BANG! BOOM! with clarity, no less! The sound didn’t become a jumbled mess of noise, which can happen with smaller, less capable soundbars. What a ride! Well done, Samsung. I understand that there might be soundbars that offer slightly better performance in specific areas compared to this bar. However, it would require listening to them side by side to notice any significant differences. Even if there were a superior overall soundbar, it might be more expensive or excel in only a few areas, while the Q990F may excel in others. I acquired this soundbar at a great discount because the outer box had been damaged during handling. Fortunately, there was no damage to the internal hardware or the inner protective foam. Considering the price I paid, I can’t imagine any other soundbar at that cost coming close. Perhaps at twice the cost or more. Perhaps. I also considered the Sennheiser Ambeo Max and Plus, but I was hesitant due to the lack of rear surrounds and, to a certain extent, the price, even though they were on sale at the time. I visited Best Buy and listened to the Sonos Arc Ultra, but I wasn’t impressed. It sounded ordinary. Perhaps it was the setup or the way it was placed, but I wasn’t satisfied. I know that the Sonos Arc Ultra bar receives great reviews, especially when combined with Sonos Era 300s as surrounds and the Sonos Sub. However, this setup would significantly increase the overall price, potentially reaching or exceeding $2000.00. Considering the price I paid for the Q990F, I would have only gotten the Arc Ultra and would have had to spend extra for the surrounds and the sub. I’m confident that properly set up, the Arc Ultra is a great system, but I’ll never know for sure. For now, I’m quite satisfied with the Q990F. Considering its overall performance in my room so far, I believe it’s a good value for the money. I do wish Samsung would allow the addition of a second, or even up to four total subs to be connected to enhance the overall amount and linearity of the bass, however. Maybe down the line with a firmware update. I’m sure getting both subs to play nice together wirelessly wouldn’t be easy. Or maybe it would. Who knows? Speaking of firmware updates, of course there was one available for the Q990F once I got the SmartThings app up and running. I clicked “download and install” or whatever it actually said, the update process began and there were no problems during, nor after the update completed. I know there was a disastrous update issue in the past with a previous Q990 iteration that bricked some sound bars out there but I had no issues at all. So, I think the Q990F is definitely worth the current $1499 or so price and if you can get it even cheaper, all the better.

We’ve been using the Samsung sound bar with the woofer and rear speakers as our main setup for the living room TV, and honestly, it’s been a total game changer for us. From the very first movie night, the difference in sound was incredible. The surround effect makes you feel like you’re right in the middle of the action, and the bass from the woofer is so powerful that it adds a whole new level to everything we watch or listen to. Even when we’re just watching regular TV shows, the dialogue comes through so clear that we never have to rewind to catch what someone said. Setting it up was a breeze, too. I was a little worried it might be complicated, but the instructions were super clear and we had everything up and running in no time. This thing sounds amazing and packs a punch. I had a Denon Receiver and Klipsch Speakers and I think this sounds better. My wife loves the clean look and sound as well.

I took the time to thoroughly research soundbar systems, and just when I was confident about a particular model, I discovered it had been discontinued—apparently for good reason. So, I went back to the drawing board and came across glowing reviews for the Samsung HW-Q990F 11.1.4 channel system with subwoofer and rear speakers. Although the previous version was available at a lower price, I chose the newer model for its more compact subwoofer design. This system is truly in a class of its own. After setting it up and running audio through the speakers, I was left speechless. It’s installed in my bedroom, and I didn’t expect it to rival my dedicated home theater system in the basement—but it does. It's not that the HW-Q990F outperforms my theater setup; rather, it delivers a level of immersion that stands apart. If you're considering this system, rest assured—it won’t disappoint.

After 4 months , just quit, so called company...said try a new hdmi cable, no luck, so it works with Bluetooth, but disappointed that hdmi quit and no solution. Does not work wifi either.

But I will say, this is the nicest sound system/home theater system i've ever owned. The ease of setup amazed me as I was very nervous about getting everything right. It is essentially plug and play. The ease of transitioning between devices is almost seamless. The remote is kind of unnecessary because I have the 100 inch QN80FF television and that pretty much controls everything. Samsung pretty much has my whole life.Five samsung t vs, three samsung phones, refrigerator washer and dryer tablet, my life is samsung! And I can honestly say, I have never, ever had an issue with any samsung product.I ever bought.

The sound is wonderful and the real bonus is that I can use the soundbar at lower volume levels and still clearly hear dialogue . Initially, I had some issues with the sound spontaneously muting, but those seem to have gone away.

This newest version has a smoother bass tone and slightly better surround sound acoustics than previous versions. My last version had a cloth outer cover that initially looked great, but collected dust, and the display screen was on the top of the speaker making it impossible to see. I'm glad this newest version has done away with both of those past issues and reverted back to a hard surface and front-facing screen. This newest design is simple, cleanable, and incredibly functional in design. I am extremely happy with the look and the sound!

However, I have a larger room and it is tough to get the surround speaker volume high enough to be effective. I have turned down the other channels and raised the rear speaker volume to max and still it is not enough.

You just need to follow the quick instructions to connect to Wi-Fi, everything will then setup automatically and in minutes your TV sound is working. This utilizes the sound bar AND your TV speakers for more presence and surround. Fairly easy to set up. This soundbar can provide decent bass but others that come from the audio, not TV side of the business, probably can deliver more punch. For TV, streaming and gaming this soundbar works great. For people like me that also like to listen to my music and listen somewhat loud, there are better choices like Polk etc. Overall though, this is the way to go as it matches and works with your TV speakers as well. If you watch a lot of movies, play graphically and sonically rich games, or want a near-theater experience without building a full speaker wall, the Q990F delivers one of the most immersive experiences you can get in a soundbar package. For Music Lovers: It’s very capable. The height channels and surround give a very spacious, rich experience. But if your primary use is just music, there might be other systems (or even dedicated stereo setups) that give more “pure” audio for songs. That said, for casually immersive music listening, it’s more than good enough. For Budget-Conscious Buyers: If the older Q990D (or other high-quality but cheaper soundbars) is available, it’s worth comparing prices. The subwoofer improvement is meaningful, but not necessarily a “must-have” for everyone — depending on how critical you are about bass quality or how much space you have.

While big for a soundbar, this system has amazing sound for its overall small footprint. I have a 7.1 system in another room with Denon AV receiver and large subwoofer. I actually prefer the sound from my Samsung Q990 than the 7.1 AVR system in the other room. When the receiver in the other room breaks someday, I'll be replacing it with a Samsung soundbar. It's that good.

It was so bad that I sent it in for repairs. It was returned to me and I was told there was no problem. I was shocked! The problem of course, remained. Additionally, I've had to hard reset the unit multiple times because it just stops delivering sound entirely. I imagine I have a defective unit and am disappointed in samsungs customer service through the whole process. (The time it was away being repaired lapsed the entire time that I could return the unit, so now I am stuck with a 2k speaker that rattles and needs to be reset every other week). I'm a Samsung fan, through and through.... and I'm not sure if all units are like this, but beware!

From setup to everyday use, it delivers a premium experience that genuinely elevates movies, music, and gaming. The sound quality is where this system really shines. The combination of the main bar, subwoofer, and rear speakers creates a full, immersive soundstage with crisp dialogue, detailed highs, and deep, punchy bass. Dolby Atmos performance is fantastic — height effects feel believable, and surround separation is extremely clear, making action scenes and atmospheric soundtracks come alive. What impressed me most is how balanced everything is. Even at lower volumes, the Q990F maintains clarity and richness, and when you turn it up, it fills the room without distortion. The adaptive sound mode is also surprisingly smart, automatically optimizing audio depending on what’s playing. Setup is simple, and the wireless connectivity for the subwoofer and rears works flawlessly. I recently purchased a QN85 Samsung TV and I wasn't sure if I wanted just the bar but am glad I went this route. The setup was simple and seamless and the sound is crisp and powerful. We've been watching movies with the kids and with the sub, it's like being in a movie theater without hurting your ears. You can really feel the bass and with all of the speakers it feels like you're in the movie. Fantastic purchase and another great Samsung product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best soundbars ever I have two of them: one for my bedroom sitting area and the other for my living room. They connect very easily with wifi or bluetooth. They provide a rich sound that fill up the whole room. I also, use them as smart speakers with activated Alexa. And also with Alexa, I can use them to turn the TV on and off using voice commands. Overall, I love my soundbars, and I won’t trade them with anything else. Then again, there isn’t anything else that I came across that would what they do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Home Theater nirvana I purchased the HW-Q990F to go with my Samsung TV. Set up was simple. Plug it it and quick config in the App and away to went. Did nothave to sync the rear speakers or Subwoofer. It automatically did that. The Q Symphony connection with the TV was seemless and works great. We have watched a few movies, TV shows, and PS5 gaming and they all sound amazing. Only feedback is that I wished we could pair a second subwoofer to the system and the whole room would shake. Otherwise it is a perfect addition and replacement for home theater separates.

Atmos content is immersive, and the new dual channel sub sounds crisp and concise, is a huge improvement over the old single channel. However, 2 things I'm disappointed with. 1) the kit isnt black like the product photos lead the kit to be; its a dark Grey that doesn't match my NeoQLED, so my set looks mismatched. Secondly, there is a very noticeable wave/defect in the soundbars plastic that's easily seen. I expected better build quality given the price point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very nice soundbar setup When I got a new TV, I decided to upgrade the soundbar. My equipment was first generation Dolby Atmos/DTS. At the time, and for many years, it was amazing compared to TV speakers and the speaker setup I had before. The wireless speaker connections were not the best, but the sound was great. This new generation builds on what I have found Samsung to do with its stuff, refine it. The newest soundbar is cleaner, more visually appealing, and audibly superior. The software adds a ton of interesting features. I will say it is a huge advancement over my older generation. The pass through with a game system attached to the bar can glitch out once and awhile which can be mildly annoying at times. The wireless connection to the TV is ok, but I would recommend just using the HDMI cable. The QSYMPHONY works great for larger areas. I found it a worthwhile upgrade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Sound Quality with a Few Small Drawback I’ve been using this Q Series system for a few weeks now, and overall, it’s been a great experience. The sound is rich, immersive, and incredibly dynamic—movies and music both sound phenomenal. The rear speakers and sub really add depth, and the Atmos effect is noticeable, especially in action scenes. Before buying, I tested this against Sony’s quad theater setup, and in my opinion, Samsung’s system came out way ahead—especially in clarity and surround presence. That said, there are a couple of small things that hold it back from being perfect. The remote feels a bit cheap for a premium product. Also, the display on the soundbar constantly flashes the source, which gets a little annoying. It briefly shows when Atmos is active, but it disappears too fast. I really wish the SmartThings app would show when Atmos is actually playing—seems like a simple software improvement that would make a big difference. Still, none of those are dealbreakers. The performance speaks for itself, and I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their home audio setup.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No need to upgrade I bought this device after watching video after video of reviews the HW-Q990F. I was sold on reviews and bought this device. I upgraded from the HW-Q990C. I really wanted to see how the dual subs would sound since i had been wanting and waiting for samsung to do this. Well let me say i was not happy at all. Samsung in my opinion your to conservative with the bass sound. The fact that you have a box that does not breath nor even meets the metrics for a dual subwoofer makes no sense. More speakers and less space for them to operate does not equal greater sound. In an American market people want that deep bass for their sound sound especially when your offering dolby atmos. I will say this, the soundbar and towers are amazing for the updated device. The subwoofer needs to go back to the drawing board and remember your dealing with American rooms that have a lot more room then your testing areas. I would just offer a system with dual subwoofers similar to the HW-Q990C-D.

It turns off the front speakers and woofer. This is absolutely a great feature when you are watching a movie and no one else wants to hear it in the house. All the other setting on the app allow you to tune the system to any sound preferences you like. The system has more than enough power to shake the house in action movies or music. I use this system in an 18 x 20 bedroom and it does a good job. It is a not the 7.1 sound system with my paradigm speakers and a Denon AVR-X2800H in my theater room, but it is less than 1/10 the cost. I THINK IT IS WELL WORTH THE PRICE!!!!

From the start, the remote didn’t work, so Samsung sent a replacement — that didn’t work either. Then I found out the main soundbar speaker crackles constantly, and dialogue is barely audible. It sounds like you’re listening through a broken speaker under a blanket. Even worse? Samsung support is useless. I contacted them multiple times, explained that I only just set the unit up (after waiting on a TV stand), and that it’s clearly defective. Their only response? “Sorry, it’s past the 15-day return window.” As if a $1,600 soundbar should break in its box and somehow be my fault. I’ve tried everything — HDMI ARC resets, different cables, power cycling, SmartThings app. The unit is just bad. Samsung refuses to honor its warranty or escalate the case properly. Avoid this model at all costs. And honestly, think twice about buying from Samsung at all if you expect real support after the sale. I’ve had $300 soundbars perform better — and get better service — than this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic upgrade from my previous 5.1.4 I've been looking at upgrading to a Q series for a while and finally was able to pull the trigger. My viewing area is 16x16 and this soundbar fills the space with such unbelievable sound. The wide, height and rears do a tremendous job of really enveloping you in total immersion. I wish there were a few more settings in the smart things app to configure but overall the app is great. I use the Q990 in conjunction with the Samsung 75 inch TV and the Q symphony feature fills out the sound even more. I extensively tested it with and without and can say that as long as you have a good enough speaker in the TV it makes a very positive difference. Overall very happy with this upgrade and I don't think I could ever go back. Couple this with a bluray player or Fandango for high quality streams in Atmos and you're in for a treat.

My son is a gamer, is perfect and he is enjoying the ear buds that are wireless, so the rest of us can hear other things when it's his gaming time. I did realize they could improve so dramatically. The new Subwoofer is AMAZING! Although its smaller, the sound vibrates the sitting area. Definitely a theater-like experience!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

The wireless rear speakers are where it’s at. They keep me thinking there’s someone talking behind me. Impressive soundbar. It outperformed my expectations of its capability. Leaving me curious of its full capabilities. Still haven’t opened it wide open as loud as it gets. Haven’t needed to. I 100% recommend this soundbar to anyone who is into home theater. It’s definitely worth the investment.

While the G5's picture quality is stunning, the built-in audio is, as expected, no match for this behemoth of a sound system. Immersive Audio for a Premium TV: The pairing with the LG G5, connected via HDMI eARC, was seamless. While I miss out on Samsung's proprietary Q-Symphony, the soundbar’s native Dolby Atmos performance is so phenomenal it makes up for it. The sheer number of channels, especially the up-firing and side-firing drivers in the bar and rear satellites, creates a complete, cohesive 3D sound bubble. After getting the discount for $1200 original price 1900 or so Best Buy had it on sale for $999. Now back up to 1900 but I love it it sounds great especially with PS5 surround sound it works that subwoofer is great takes up little space it just it does wonders especially with the movie Tron I am 51 years old it makes a good movie and video game sound system I also love the Dolby Atmos God bless not an AI not a fake ad well do you research try to get the best price and it's all there for your bang for your buck.

The sound from the soundbar is louder at high volume and at low volume it is easier to hear which was a problem with the rack Onkyo system. Don't get me wrong, the Onkyo system is great for action movies but was hard to hear in a normal listening mode like for news or a documentary show unless to turn the volume up. Im glade I made the switch..love the soundbar 110% and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a top notch soundbar, Samsung is the best.

The dual 8" subwoofer is also more musical than previous generations. Fast, sharp, quick snap on the bass. For movies, it gets loud enough for my tastes with plenty of rumble. I also love the in private listening for late night since I am in a townhouse and don't want to bug the people next door. My only wish is the lcd was bigger to see what mode your in when you don't have your cellphone around and can see it in the app. The app, so far has been flawless. Lots of things you can customize in the app. I also like this has wifi and I can use Tidal connect. I only wish it took Qobuz connect as well. Despite the 2 small things that I wish it had, it's a wonderful sounding unit that works great in my room. I am not saying this will work in your room since each rooms acoustics are different and room size and shape will also play a part.

I returned a brand-new Sonos system for the Q990F, and in terms of both features and pure audio immersion, the Q990F is unquestionably better. However, I've encountered a catastrophic bug that makes the system unusable with my Sony Bravia 85" TV. THE DEAL-BREAKER: When watching TV and I fast-forward a program, approximately 1 out of 5 times the audio completely drops out. The only way to restore the sound is to either completely restart the soundbar or the TV. This is an infuriating and constant interruption. TROUBLESHOOTING ATTEMPTS: It appears the Q990F does not play well with my Sony Bravia's HDMI (eARC) connection. I conducted extensive research, including AI assistance, and followed numerous suggestions (firmware updates, cable changes, factory resets, changing PCM settings, etc.), but nothing has provided a permanent fix. FINAL THOUGHT: The consensus in advanced tech forums is that this is a deep-seated software/firmware interoperability issue between the two brands that Samsung may be unable to fix. BUYER BEWARE: If you own a Sony Bravia TV, proceed with extreme caution. The sound is five-star, but the constant need to reboot makes the real-world experience zero-star. The issue is a classic interoperability flaw between HDMI-CEC/eARC implementations on the Samsung soundbar and the Sony TV. When you fast-forward, the TV or the source device temporarily stops the audio stream. When you hit play again, the TV has to quickly renegotiate the audio format and connection with the soundbar (the "handshake"). This is where the bug occurs.

While the actual sound quality is excellent (a big plus), the system has a critical, deal-breaking flaw: it repeatedly loses audio. When I fast-forward through content (e.g., using my Dish receiver), the soundbar can't seem to process the rapid audio sync changes and the sound dies. The only solution is to turn off both the TV and the soundbar and restart them—a required process I have to do multiple times daily. I sent the unit back to Samsung for repair, but they claimed nothing was wrong and sent it back unfixed. Conclusion: Having to constantly reboot my entertainment system makes this product a BIG FAT ZERO for user experience. I cannot recommend buying this until Samsung acknowledges and fixes this debilitating audio-loss issue. Perhaps they would like to send a tech to my home to observe the problem firsthand. Otherwise I think they owe me a refund!!!

I reached out to Samsung support and was basically told to pack it up and return it to Best Buy and while that is an option this is a complex system that is not easy to box up let alone carry because it weighs quite a bit. The lack of support is frustrating because I would think is would be easier than a full return.
