Rated 5 out of 5 by from Screen will fail in under a year. I just ordered the fold 5 after my fold 4 screen bubbled in less than a year. I paid for samsung care, but the rep said I'd be without a phone for two weeks unless I upgraded...why did i bother paying for it (hint: don't do it)? Also, my wife's flip 5 bubbled in under a year and the replacement screen bubbled a few months later. If the new version lasts for more than a year, maybe I'll increase the rating, but I really wanted to use the fold 4 for at least 2 years...less than a year is theft. The fold 5 is not worth the extra money for the upgrade. I hope everyone else doesn't get samstunged because it hurts :(

I have been using Samsung phones since 12 years , because I am android fan. Samsung has come a long way, I always like innovative approach and feature packed smartphones. I phone has it's own Pros and cons, but I phone never offered fold, reverse charging, camera zoom, screen share or reverse wireless charge sharing. I like reading news, articles my study materials and another interesting science magazines on phone , Fold phone offered perfect screen to avoid eye strain. Enjoyed YouTube movies and web series while traveling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible Device, Wi-Fi doesn't work after 6 months The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is the worst Samsung product that I have ever owned. I have had it for 6 months and all of a sudden it won't connect to Wi-Fi. I have a $1900 device that can't connect to Wi-Fi and my only option for repair is to send it to Samsung to and wait for 10 plus days for them to repair or replace the phone. I the meantime I don't have a phone to use for work. I have an old S4 in a drawer that barely works but the Wi-Fi still functions on it. I am so aggravated at Samsung and their service that I might stop buying their products all together. I own 4 of their TVs, 3 Sound Bars, A Watch 6, 4 different pairs of Buds, a stove, a microwave, and 5 or 6 SSDs. I have owned the following Samsung Phones S4, S6, S8 Active, Note 9, S20 Ultra 5G, S22 Ultra and now this Fold 5. I have also bought my wife an S9, S20 Ultra 5G, S22 Ultra, S23 Plus, and also a Fold 5 and Samsung is willing to lose me as a customer and expects me to go 10 plus days without a phone. I got news for them, I will go buy another device and it won't be a Samsung. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this product or anything else they sell because their warranty is trash.

My 1st phone id open it and the screen popped up off the device like there was a air bubble under the screen. My second 1 they sent me if I want to open it and use it I have to restart my phone every time cause 1s I close it and open it it's black. I have to open it and then restart it with it open to use the inside fold part. And this happens every single time.

I am so frustrated at how it doesn't come with a wall charger. You would figure if you are paying 1800. For a phone, you should be able to charge it as soon as you get it. It just doesn't make sense to me that it doesn't come with the s penwhen it is meant to be used for productivity. Even the S23 ultra has a pen with it. Not a great value at all. You pay a huge price for the phone then you have to buy a charger, then the S pen and then a case to protect your investment

I wish I had my old Fold 2 back again. That was a great phone. Do not upgrade to this phone. It's a flop. Also the phone messes up and they want you to send it in for 5-7 days for it to potentially still not be fixed. The screen is glitching out for no reason and I have only had the phone for about 6 months. I have all this warranty/Insurance coverage for Nothing

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would not recommend for work Ordered Sunday from my local AT&T store after visiting with a Samsung rep who was on site and was very helpful and per his recommendation decided to give it a try. After twenty minutes I realized this was not for me. Front screen is too small to be used as the main screen in my opinion as I use this for work. Work also requires a lock. No fingerprint scanner in the front screen which I was used to in my S22 Ultra. Fingerprint scanner on this device is on the side. Cumbersome to get to however you hold the phone and you must either double tap the screen or hit a button to access using the fingerprint. The inside screen is neat, but not worth it in my opinion. Though by design I'm sure, it's not easy to open and really difficult to near impossible with one hand. Would be ok if a lock was not needed probably. Would not recommend for anyone trying to use for work as the advantage of the large inside screen is not worth the other issues.

When I could get it to work it didn't cover the full screen and it just stopped connecting to my Samsung TV after a while.

Then he bought the cover to take care of it in case he drops it. He has the long one that folds mine is the square one which I cannot find a cover for. I thought I found one but when it arrived it was the wrong one. Can I send this one back and order the right one that fits the phone? His phone is rectangle. Mine is square. It is a Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ready to break at warranty Screen broke 3 weeks out of warranty. no water damage no drops, but out of nowhere the Inner screen stays on when closed, turns off when opened - $500 to repair. The care+ I was 100% sure I bought , not showing.... but that still means I would've paid $500 on a $2000 phone with io a year of its manufacture. Great concept on a decent phone, but Samsungs predatory US warranty (1 yr vs 6 for UK) is a scam. Just ashamed I bought the fold 5 before finding out about this.

But even then, that's not the main selling point. Besides that, the options are many. This is a total different experience than slabs and S series so people compare the two are are just talking;) I personally like the narrow front as it's easier to hold, store, and gives the option of not having to always use a giant screen until desired. Options are always good, correct. Now open is where the coolness comes in. Watch a YouTube video and read up. Crazy features and multi-app functions. The fold 5 is smooth, fast, and with adjustment you can customize to you liking. This is where a lot go wrong. Learn the settings which isn't hard--go over them a few times. I've owned all of the phones, and tried the s23 ultra and loved it. But missed my large screen, and options of two in one and switched back. Awesome phone!

However, after using it for a few weeks, I find myself thoroughly disappointed with several key aspects of the device. First and foremost, the battery performance of the Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 leaves much to be desired. Despite its hefty price tag, I am constantly struggling to make it through a full day of usage without needing to recharge. The device drains power faster than I expected, which is frustrating and inconvenient, especially for someone constantly on the go. Moreover, the camera quality on this device is far from what I anticipated. Given Samsung's reputation for producing exceptional camera systems, I was shocked by the subpar performance of the Galaxy Fold 5's cameras. The images lack the sharpness and detail that I had come to expect from a flagship device. Low-light situations are particularly disappointing, as noise and graininess often mar the photos. One of the most perplexing decisions by Samsung is the omission of the S Pen from the package. For a device at this price point, I would have assumed that the S Pen, a staple accessory for Samsung's Note series, would be included. Its absence not only feels like a missed opportunity for enhanced productivity but also adds an extra cost to an already expensive investment. In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 falls short of my expectations in multiple areas. The poor battery performance, disappointing camera quality, and the absence of the S Pen have all contributed to a less-than-satisfactory experience with this device. I had hoped for a seamless blend of innovation and functionality, but unfortunately, the Galaxy Fold 5 falls flat in delivering on these promises

Media, reading, browsing, multi-app, video creating, to name a few. People complaining about having small hands, super picture, etc lol. Those are personal problems and desires. This version with the flatter hinges is awesome. If you see no value in a larger inner screen, then don't get it... duh. The phone rocks!

I've a little worry about the regular wear and tear on the folding screen, but it looks as though my worries are un founded. My roommate doesn't open hers very much for the same worry, my sister on the other hand never closes hers. Both phones are still in near new condition. I highly recommend buying protective cases for this product, and seeing as it doesn't come with the phone the fold 5 edition s-pen to really get the most out of it. Very pleased except the s- pen has to be bought separately.

Samsung support said take it to a repair shop and pay over 500 dollars and for me a 2 hr one way drive trade it in for 300 dollar credit. They said the z 5 was a lot better, I said if that's the case why only the same no faith warrant in your new product?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Meh. It's heavy and bulky as is without adding a case to it. Also, it's not phone specific, but the Visual Voicemail has the be the dumbest feature ever presented. You don't have an option for a typical voicemail box. No, you have to jump through hoops to set up Visual Voicemail and it's like 4 additional steps to listen to it even after set up, compared to how Voicemail used to be. Not every update is an improvement and not every single thing under the sun needs an update to begin with. Some things work best when they're simple and not overcomplicated for no apparent reason at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from frustration Phone purchased 9-18-23, received on 9-20-23, woke up today 9-30-23 with a "crease of death" the area on phone where it folds has a thick black line. Unable to access anythiing on phone only can see the home screen. Took back to att store,told I had to was told it was damaged and had to make claim on insurance. Went to the repair store covered by insurance they said it falls under the buyer remorse program and to go back to store. told had to call att, finally it was decided I could do exchange but before entire process could be completed the att store phone died and disconnected. Cannot get the issue resolved, phone is completely unusable in this condition. Just need a working phone, especially since the phone is only 10 days old.

The number one issue is the width of the cover screen and the phone in general. Way too small for adequate keyboard interaction. Number two is the stylus integration, first it is not stored in the phone making the purchase of a clumsy cover necessary, then the cover screen does not support the pen, forcing you to unfold the phone in order to use the phone. If Samsung solves these 2 major issues the phone is golden, but if not I'll go back to the ultra.

I can't move from one screen to the other and I cannot get the touch required to get the biometric to work either. I am returning this phone because it is defective and I just don't want to go through setting up another phone. I have talked to Verizon about this and they will probably quit selling this phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money on this phone I wanted to follow up my review can't find it so here it is again, this phone is so over priced bought the samsung pencil also over priced only worked in in the fold screen not the main screen, phone cover also expensive and ugly now the phone is soooo unresponsive is tiring and frustrating using this phone, definitely this is my last samsung never ever again, I did try to sale this phone but I will get only peanuts for this phone so it's going to be a useless paper weight on my dresser, samsung should do a fair buy back I will sell this pice of junk in a heart bit so I recuperate some of my money.

Recently, I noticed a dot appearing at the center of the fold, which developed into a streak the following day. This issue seems related to the device's folding mechanism, and I've observed similar complaints from other users. Despite being a loyal Samsung customer for years, I was disappointed to learn that Samsung charges $600 for repairs, even when the problem appears to stem from their technology. At the moment I can't afford to fix my phone, please learn from my mistake and buy a different phone. Remember that Samsung doesn't care if it's their faulty tech, that hurts your pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed in Z Fold 4 & 5 At a little over a year of having the zf5 a bright light showed up across the opened screen. Was told after troubleshooting to do factory reset. That did not work either. Decided getting another phone after only a year would be expensive so I'm sticking it out. A few days ago I noticed bubbles on the opened screen. This is horrible. I bought the 1st gen Z Fold and it lasted over 3 years. Next I bought Zf 4 and it did not open flat so I traded it in, still with a payment, for the 5 . Really used to love Samsung phones, been buying for years but now it may be the time for change:-(

It's like the best of two worlds having a bigger phone to do my things on and having a smaller phone to hold in my hand simply by just folding it and unfolding it. Not to mention all the little things that it does and there's a lot. To truly truly enjoy this phone watch tips and videos so you could actually unlock all the potential of this awesome phone. Samsung did it again they got me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good phone, not too durable. I bought the Z Fold 5 in November 2023. I thought I would use the larger screen more, but I did not. Opening for the larger size screen to just glance through Facebook, play games or other tasks was not necessary and just took too long for just the occasional use. The larger screen was worth it when you were reading or looking over docs. What was the worst part for me was the lack of a good protective case for the Z Fold 5. You really can't protect the phone completely when it needs to fold/unfold. The case I had didn't save it, and actually popped off. With the phone being a bit bulky, I did drop it a couple times. It had a tendency to fall on the spine, which got dented not even a month after purchase. When I recently got the dreaded "black spot" on the larger screen, I decided it was time to replace my Z Fold 5. It lasted with me for about a year and a half. It just wasn't durable enough in my opinion, and for the price, it should've been.

I only have one regret, why didn't I buy it earlier, Love it !

I think it's perfect I can do everything one handed and I have large hands. Samsung please don't change the screen size for the fold 6. When they figure out how to put s pen in the phone it will be perfect. Basically it's a Note or galaxy ultra on steroids.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great phone ive owned this phone for about 6 months and its been great. i listen to music and podcast about 6 to 10 hours a day while i work and will still have about 20% battery left. a lot of people complain about the front display size but i don't notice it being any more difficult to use. i use mine closed more then opened and have had no issues with the size of the front display. my only complaint is that the samsung pen that comes with the case only works with the inner screen simply because of software. but any basic stylus with a rubber tip works just fine. i really hope in the near future this gets fixed i would hate to have to carry a separate pen just to use with the outer screen

The main LCD screen will eventually crack if the screen protector is not replaced quickly. I will be staying clear of any of the fold devices in the near future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fold 5 almost a Year later I owned the Fold5 since launch and have owned each fold that’s come out and every year and I’m satisfied and welcome the changes even if it’s slight improvements, I’ve tried other foldable phones and I end up coming back to Samsungs Fold because of the flexibility it offers, I also own the S24 ultra also a great phone, but once you experience a folding phone it’s hard to return to a slab.. bring on the Fold 6 Samsung cause I’m ready to see what improvements you’ll present to us

I have a note 20 ultra, i purchased a fold 5 512 w/ Pen case, but then i RETURNED IT. - That outer display is too small (eg keyboard typing is slow & overlap; images are super small), so you always need to open it to get the larger display. - But on larger display, apps like InstaGram, the content is bigger on note 20 ultra, NOT tablet mode on the fold. - Also apps like youtube, many videos, the content is bigger on the note, NOT tablet mode on fold 5. - I noticed i always wanted to pick up my note 20 ultra & NOT the fold. - The fold is great to look at, & feel in the beginning (because its new), but it gets old, really fast. - So i just upgraded my tablet to S9, which by the way, is the real deal when it comes to large amoled display! One downfall is that it is a seperate device, but other than that, app experiences are much better on an actual tablet. - Im thinking maybe when a larger fold comes out next year or the year after that, maybe i'll upgrade, but now, that annoying small screen outside, & tablet screen inside (apps still need improvement), is a deal breaker for me. This is just my experience

I only wish that the crease wasn't as visible in the fold otherwise it seems to be an incredible piece of technology that I would recommend anybody to purchase and use. The only problem that I have is that people take advantage of certain situations and get these phones for practically nothing well people like myself pay the full price for the same phone and it does not seem fair. Either the phone should be less expensive or they should not be given out freely people who can't afford. I'm sorry that they have problems in their lives where they don't have the money to buy these things but that doesn't mean that we should be charged extra to cover the cost of the people that can't buy them themselves.

The battery lasts quite a while, charging via the way it makes the circle teal is the way to go. Lots of people need to understand that this device is purely for just how cool it is. Plenty of others will do the same if not do it better than this thing. Be ready for weekly system updates, this phone calls back to high command a lot, and weirdly Google maps (best app for this phone) crashes quite often for some reason. If you are debating getting this phone, just do it. They made these pretty well, dropped it off the headache rack on a freightliner bucket truck more than once, with the otter box it remains unscathed.

My only problem is it don't have the call & text on other devices feature. I don't know if it's the phone itself or Verizon. I also hope on the future Samsung will make the outer screen a tad bit wider and make it work with the spen as well. Other than that I love my purchase.

Their response was the hinge is tested up to 25000 open and closes or some crud like that. Well it's not the hinge that breaks now is it. Nope it's the screen itself. The right side isn't even a touch screen any more and it's got a big black line down the middle so it's impossible to watch anything on it... it's trash... still owe 800 on the paper weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lacking Feature I have always LOOOOVED the Note! REASON? The OLD NOTE had this nifty hideaway stylus in the phone. I miss that feature with this new Galaxy Z Fold. I have to buy the stylus separately AND buy a case made with a stylus carrying case to carry my stylus. I've lost my stylus already this way. Too expensive NOT having this feature pre-built in the phone like the old notes use to have. The other iritation w/the Galaxy Fold I cannot use a stylus on the outside screen, only on the inside screen. I have long nails and so I have to carry and use a pen with a separate rubber tip for texting. BOTH SCREENS should have been stylus compatible. Especially at THIS PRICE. I LOVE THE GALAXY FOLD BUT HATE this missing feature tremendously

It's like a magic trick—abracadabra, it’s tiny in your palm, and poof, it’s a tablet when you flip it open! You can’t exactly have a pocket-sized IMAX, can you? I was on the fence about getting the whole shebang, but after polling every owner in sight and getting enthusiastic thumbs up, I was sold. They all raved about how it morphs from a munchkin to a monster screen. So, to the naysayers who moan it’s too minuscule, maybe skip the origami phone, huh? Duh!

The fact of the matter is the benefits you may think that you will get are vastly limited due to browsers and applications that are made for a different screen resolution. The battery life of this device is akin to a phone you may have kept for years and requires constant charge. The computing/processing power is absolute bloody rubbish. I recently replaced a S23 Ultra with this and felt as is I downgraded significantly. When someone pays over $1500 for anything there's a reasonable expectation that it would give you exceptional service and features aside from a large screen to watch videos.

To my horror there are millions of hits on google search with the same problem. Google this before you buy. What makes it worse they will only replace once under warranty. This phone has a design flaw in the hinge and Samsung wont admit it. Dont believe me. Google it.

Regrettably, after approximately a year of usage, the device experienced a malfunction due to air accumulating within the gap of the primary display. Consequently, I obtained a discounted replacement, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, from T-Mobile in September of the subsequent year. Similar to my previous device, the Fold 5 has proven to be exceptional in terms of performance and durability. Despite accidental drops onto concrete surfaces, it has remained unscathed. The device exhibits reliability, swift performance, exceptional brightness, and an array of practical and enjoyable features while holding its' charge for a sufficient amount of time. However, I must acknowledge a few concerns. Under bright lighting conditions, the main screen displays noticeable indentations. Additionally, the device tends to generate significant heat during multitasking or when deactivating power-saving mode. I attribute this to the numerous third-party and first-party applications running concurrently in the background. Nonetheless, the device effectively manages to cool down to a more comfortable temperature, demonstrating its intelligent design. By the way, I let the built-in Galaxy AI feature rewrite my review in a 'professional' writing style!

The fold option is a nice feature, but the protective screen film tends to trap the air bubble on the folding line when it uses for a period of time. While no device seems to be perfect for everyone, I think that this year's offering has shown just how fine-tuned this form factor can be after just 5 generations! Little to no bugs since day zero! Plus a smooth, bright, and colorful display! The hinge re-design is awesome! I love this phone! Get the the Gray version if you want a unique color!

Always been a fan of galaxy products, went to try iphone out a few years ago while in college for imessage/ecosystem (used a mac and ipad for school). In terms of software android was always way ahead in terms of customization and usability but iPhone always had and probably will continue to have better app optimization. For me social media is really important and having to compromise with the awkward aspect ratio of the cover screen was not something I am willing to do, instagram, tiktok & snapchat all appear tiny on the coverscreen and I thought I'd use the main screen more but honestly after a week I don't. Main screen design and functionality is a 10/10, I love it but the only times I use it is if I'm showing it off to a friend or if I'm in bed on social media consuming content. 80-90% of my use is the coverscreen so for me this product isn't the best fit. If this phone was $1,500 I'd probably buy it but being $2,000 it is cheaper for me to get a iPhone & a tablet. I think Samsung needs to focus on both the cost and optimizing the main screen whether it's innovating new features/ways to use the phone or at the bear minimum focusing their efforts on app optimization to cater to the way people use their phones nowadays. I applied for a return so I will continue to use the device for 2 more weeks with an open mind and maybe it'll convince me to return my iPhone 14 Pro but as of now, I'm leaning towards keeping my iPhone.

While I was in store to get help, the next customer went to complain about his samsung z4. I paid for the "upgrade" of moving out of the z4, the most expensive phone. You have been advised about the issues with this phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from avoid folding phones, always breaking on you I have owned 2 folds now and after a year when the warrenty is up, the inner screen always craps out on you, starts cracking, then black screen of death and your stuck with the tiny front screen as your main cell phone. For how expensive it is, samsung builds them very cheap and the technology is not there to last. If you buy this phone expect it to only work for 1 year.

Inner screen started developing dark spots, was replaced under warranty, now all the screens go black and doesn't return when phone folded open, after a reset only the outer screen resumes operation. The bristles that keep dust off unglued and got stuck on the hinge, this is clearly a samsung problem, not user abuse or error, now they are asking 500 dollars to repair.

The problem now is that the phone has small cracks straight down the middle from I assume constant open and closing. Obviously this is an issue that they haven't solved because I've seen others like it and it gets even worse over time. I would not have bought this phone if I knee this could happen. Until the fix this issue the phone is not worth it. DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE! THE SCREEN WILL CRACK OVER TIME.

As far as I am concerned, the size of the front screen is perfect. Some people complain that the front screen is too narrow and too tall, I like the size of the front screen because it takes up less space in my belt phone case than the s22 Ultra did, but the magic begins when I open the phone up to use the inside screen, I love it.

Sent phone to Samsung and they refuse to acknoledge the issue nor will they replace(repair) screen. Requested that I pay thru Samsung Care for repair. I had no such issues with my Fold3. I believe the new factory installed screen protectoron the fold5 is causing the screen issue. I highly recommend not purchasing this phone is you use your s pen often as it has become obsolete. I will no longer purchase Samsung products due to their poor customer service and not honoring their warranty. Buyer beware !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do better Bought November 2023, within 3 months, I go to open my phone and hear a pop and half the screen is green and a line down the middle at the hinge, since it is a common fail point I figured samsung would warranty the screen out since I still had almost 8 months left on my warranty, they blamed physical damage on the reason and would not warranty it out, and once they sent it back, I received it in worse condition, the damage they were talking about is a fracture in the lcd that could only be cause by the hinge popping and was the part they needed to replace, this is making me want to throw every samsung product i have out. Tldr. Don't bother getting the phone unless you want to spend an extra 450 every 3 months to replace the screen

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buyers remorse... I bought this phone almost a year ago. It has ran smoothly and performs well. I would have given it 4 to 5 stars in the first couple of months. However, knowing what I know now I would avoid their foldable phones like the plague. After repeated open and closing yes the screen does start to crease in the middle. I figured that would happen and accepted it. Then, a pixel shifted causing a small blob of nothing on a 2000 dollar device before my 1 year warranty was up. But UBREAKIFIX stopped servicing foldable devices, so the insurance I paid for did nothing. So naturally I called Samsung to see if they could make this wrong right. Instead I was told the physical damage to the LCD screen was worse then the pixel and I needed to pay almost 500 dollars to have the screen fixed. If you want to spend you money to be left high and dry later go for it but I'm not a fan of flushing money and getting nothing in return.

Makes me feel like I've been living in the dark ages all this time. It's excellent for multi-tasking and the layout is so customizable. The battery lasts a long time (even with the big screen) and the camera quality is good too. Phones have always been just a necessity not a luxury for me but this phone has changed my mind, I'm so in love.

I'm a golf course assistant superintendent and expose these phones to some harsh conditions. Exposed to sand daily and I've never had an issue with the hinge or scratches on my screens.

You need to put it through temperature extremes while doing that. If a person leaves their phone in a hot car, then they take it into an a cool, airconditioned room, this can cause the screen protector to separate inside the fold..
