Disappointed
Ordered on launch day and it wasn't delivered for two weeks because of some "hazardous shipping incident". All they did to fix the shipping issue was throw the box in another box and resend it. That took two weeks. Now I get it and the battery doesn't charge. This will be my last Samsung product.

Better than Quest 3, Not quite as good as AVP
I'll compare this based on experience with Quest 3 and Vision Pro. ??I like it! Going to keep it with the knowledge that the software will improve. I think the hardware is pretty much there with some exceptions. ??Samsung straight up lied, Gemini is not at the core of this, it can't open apps, close apps, call people, text people, it doesn't even know anything about the device; the Only thing Gemini can currently do is google search and organize your windows. I'm sure it is at the core they just haven't opened it up to doing useful things yet like actually doing real agent like tasks.??It came with a nice lens cover so you don't really need a full case, super nice for bag travel. ?? Price is great for the value. More expensive than Quest 3, Less expensive than AVP, but with similar specs and feel to AVP??Build quality is better than quest, but not as good as Vision Pro. ??Battery life is great, can't complain, and it has usb C for charging while in use! ??Weight and balance, pretty light, much lighter than AVP and weight is resting on head instead of nose and brow; would prefer if there were a comfortable middle strap too as it gets uncomfortable after about 2 hours of wear. ??Eye tracking is not as good as AVP, but still works. ?? Resolution seems about the same as AVP and wayyy better than Quest 3 as you would expect. ??Hand tracking is not as good as AVP, it seems to not detect a simple pinch so i have to exaggerate it. ??Software is a bit buggy and not fun to use, I suspect this will get better but not that good at the moment. ??Controllers are great, similar to Quest 3's controllers. ??PC link was a lie? Or perhaps it only connects to samsung PC's? So I'm using Virtual Desktop, works great btw! ?? Field of view is terrible! 109 degrees I think. This is ridiculous. Yes, industry standard is 100 deg or whatever, which is crazy. We need a way to have perhaps a lower res area for FULL field of view while main field of view is HD like this. ?? Environments are kind of a joke. Super poor quality images and scenes for what the device should be able to handle with its hardware. ?? Storage sucks, why is it only 250 GB with no way to externally upgrade? ?? Cameras and pass through are really good color but very blury, need at least twice as good of camera res to feel more life like, I get it though, had to budget and cut some corners to beat the AVP price which I'm grateful for.?????? TLDR: Better than quest 3, not as good as AVP. Consider getting a used AVP for the same price. However, it does connect well with all android / google / pc things, which is a big plus, so i do not regret the purchase. Just be aware it isn't quite as good as AVP due to the many bugs and poor eye and hand tracking.

Disappointed
Very uncomfortable as there is no top head strap as other devices have. No up down rotation on the front of the headset as on the Meta quest 3. Straps not removable, so aftermarket straps won't be available. Field of view looks less than Quest 3. Passthrough is excellent, and so is the resolution, colors and blacKs, some glare and outside even with emersive blinds in place. Controllers still not available. Overall, for the price I don't recommend, hope Samsung will take these flaws and fix them, at the moment, quest 3 is better, especially for the price.

VERY GOOD HEADSET
I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! (1)Very comfortable to wear IF IF IF you put backside of headstrap further down to prevent front heavy or hurting your forehead (2)Hand tracking and eyetracking works great. (3)Lenses are very well made especially edge to edge clearity. 4) Field of view is very good compare to others. (5) Buy mini powerbank($25)and i get 5 hours use time (6) Realtime ai 3d conversion to watch any video in 3d In monster size OLED screen is totally worth it (7) If you ever get stuck during gaming, Gemini see exactly what you see and Gemini will guide you exactly what to do to solve it for you so you get less stress gaming and this is AMAZING feature. (8) using Wifi 7 router is best option to give you buttery smooth pc vr gaming without sudden frame drop.

Nope
- headset passthrough is blurry and maybe better than meta 3
- Steam VR didn't work
- no controllers, or hundreds to get them
- play store games didn't work with hand tracking, or barely did
- headset uncomfortable on forehead due to lack of weight distribution
- hand tracking painfully inconsistent
- not what advertised, pretty much false advertisement
- $80 RESTOCKING FEE, so save some money and stay away

The worst Samsung Product I've ever owned
To start I am a huge Samsung fan, and everything I own in my house is Samsung. TVs, computers, monitors, appliances, phone, watch etc.
I have been super excited about this release since I last year, and preordered as fast as I could, and I have to say I could not regret it more.
This is without a doubt the worst Samsung device I have ever owned. The cameras for external view are horrifically bad. They are super grainy, and you cannot see any text through them, meaning you can't use your phone, or laptop screen.
The controls are not intuitive at all and it frequently picks up movements that you don't mean to make.
It doesn't support multi screen in the display, meaning you can't have YouTube open on one screen, and then your laptop or another open in another. The performance was super buggy, and won't connect to my Samsung Book 4 Ultra, and their support had no idea why.
The battery dies within a few hours of use, making unsuitable for plane rides.
All in all, I wanted to love this device more than any other samsung device I've ever owned and I have never been more disappointed. Plus you have a mandatory 10% restock fee if you decide to return it.
0 / 10.

Solid start for Android XR
Received the device about 36 hours ago, so these are just general first impressions. Unboxing was beautiful lol. Everything was packaged nicely and rather easy to take out of the box and put together. Set up was fairly simple especially with a Galaxy device (I have a S25 Ultra). Loving the quality of the display so far and the ease of use. Multiple windows for multitasking is pretty cool so far. Also, I was able to check out some 8k content on YouTube and it looks amazing. I wear glasses and I tried them on with the headset just to see if I could still use it and it does BUT trust me wearing your glasses will make it uncomfortable and severely throw off eyetracking lol. Hopefully the prescription lenses that I ordered will come in sooner than later. I know that this headset just released, but I hope that more third party streaming apps will release for it (Movies Anywhere, D+, etc). No huge complaints. Great start for Android XR. Looking forward to seeing how the platform will develop over the coming months and years!

Difficult PC VR
PC VR limited and hard to get working, REQUIRES Samsung controllers, which are now back ordered into December according to some sources online. I really like the eye tracking pinch to select, and it works smoothly. Basic setup was relatively smooth, and I installed the F1 app and watched Practice 2 Highlights successfuly which was nice.
I was lucky enough to order controllers early and this allowed me to invoke Xplane and MSFS 2024 from a VR context (the standard MS VR home thing)... Both Ran, but MSFS winds up just being a floating window. Xplane 12 however did start up in full VR. I'm yet to try iRacing, but I'm worried about my chances there. It's also unclear if I will be able to do pass through masking so I can see my sim cockpit yoke and flight controls, but the experience so far also leaves me in fear for that too. :(
The Pass through is quite nice and I suspect clear, but I'm still waiting on the corrective lenses, which are still "processing" with no ship/delivery date given. :(
Also, don't bother calling support Re: PCVR... they just try to sell you a $25 desktop app. I didn't buy it but I absolutely shouldn't have to pay more... and the interaction with support had the very strong feel that nobody prepared a script for them relating to enabling PCVR and that they were just latching onto the closest script they could find.
If you wanted to do PC VR this is a hard pass at least until the controllers are back in stock. Or until future updates will allow use of full VR without controllers. Double Hard Pass for MSFS which doesn't seem to properly recognize it. (possibly not all Samsung's fault)
So in summary if you want a nifty toy that's like a phone but in 3D with good passthrough this IS that. What it is NOT is a real VR headset.

The Samsung Galaxy XR is a surprisingly lightweight and comfortable extended reality headset that provides a fantastic, high-resolution display experience. The seamless integration of Google's Gemini AI, allowing for real-time contextual interactions, is a game-changer and makes the device feel incredibly smart and responsive. Plus, it offers a compelling entry point to premium spatial computing at a more accessible price point than some competitors.

Wonderful device. Immersive, fun, comforyable.
Wonderful product, This is my first experience with AR, and it is great. Easy to learn and responsive. I like that I can have multiple apps open all around me. The Maps app is super-cool. I'm able to get into an immersive street view with a 360 view as I turn my head. Videos are pretty clear and more fun to watch. I find I can wear the Galaxy XR for about 90 min before I need a break. I have lots more to try out (like connecting with my Book 5 and using a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse); but so far, this has been an amazing device at a very good price for the tech you get.

The Spectacular New Standard for Mixed Reality
The Samsung Galaxy XR is a triumph of design and technology, earning its title as a truly fabulous device and the new standard for mixed reality. Its sleek and relatively lightweight design, at around 545g, offers a notable comfort advantage over competitors. The visual experience is nothing short of spectacular, driven by dual Micro-OLED displays that deliver a combined 27 million pixels at an ultra-sharp 3,552 x 3,840-pixel resolution per eye, supporting immersive 8K content. Running on the powerful Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 and Google's Android XR, the headset's standout feature is the deep integration of Gemini AI, which provides intelligent, contextual assistance right within your field of view. While the base 256GB storage is good, the sheer volume of high-resolution XR content makes a compelling case for adding a 512GB or 1TB internal storage variant and enabling high-speed external USB-C SSD support for a truly versatile, future-proof, and media-intensive experience. Eventually, I am incredibly grateful to see the progress in the tech industry by Samsung. Furthermore, This device is a testament to the exciting progress in the tech industry, and I'm genuinely thrilled to be among the first to explore the future of mixed reality and share this experience with the community.

Looking for more original styles
I don't like the head strap and it's not comfortable at all. To make it stable on your face you have to tight strongly from the back. As other companies using top strap as a supporter, that should mean something for Samsung. Not sure who and how they test this device without a top strap.
The pass through is good enough however it's flickering. The big screen (like the big YouTube screen) feel like a bumpy and it's not completely straight.
Hand tracking and typing on keyboard is event not as easy as Meta Quest.

Great Product with Tons of Upside
The Galaxy XR is fast, fluid, feature-rich and comfortable to wear. The display is outstanding, and I really like the fact that it can be worn tethered or untethered to a power source. I have yet to see the limits of the battery-life for the Galaxy XR. I am able to do everything that I can do with my phone, tablet, desktop, and tv in one place. The interface allows for a great amount of flexibility in how I arrange my workflow, communication and/or entertainment. This is a killer product at a reasonable price compared to the competition. Although, I was initially hesitant to pull the trigger to buy at the price point, the features, comfort and future upside of this headset have wiped away all potential for regret. Good Job Samsung/Google!!!

Great Start! A few more tweaks away from 5-Stars!
I have to admit, I'm loving the things I can do with my Galaxy XR; and I'm confident that there are future resolutions to the things I can't do with it.
Pros:
The 4K resolution is outstanding! Some of the 8K 180VR stuff on YouTube is stunning.
Eye Tracking is spot on (if you calibrated correctly). Its almost mind-reading. That said, I have turn mine off temporally, due my lack of focus because I want to do so much at the same time. Once the dust settles a bit, and I'm not as excited, I'll turn it back on.
Productivity is also great. I wanted a VR that I can use at work. So far, I can do about 85% of my job solely within the XR Headset. Most of our apps are cloud-base, so multiple Chrome or Firefox windows does the trick. I can even have Slack and Teams up as well.
Cons:
There is a lack of documentation. While I watched all the Samsung videos, completed all the tutorials, and read the User Manual, there were still things left unsaid that I had to find out on my own. Something as simple as how to turn the unit off the proper way. Now I could have missed some thing due to be excited to start, but there really isn't any documentation on all the basics and second-tiered uses. This resulted in me having to factory default my headset and start over due to flashing bars. Maybe I didn't have to take such drastic measures, but there isn't any good documentation that helps with troubleshooting
Consistency with connectivity is another issue. I have yet to be able to receive (answer) a phone call with my Headset. The XR app on my Galaxy Z Flip 5 says its connected (shows battery for headset and controllers), but my Headset says its not connected (but is paired). I have once made a duo call and then nothing. I'm sure it will work eventually, but the lack of documentation isn't helping
Mic quality is in consistent. When on my Duo call, or when I join Google Meets, I'm told the audio starts out fine the all of a sudden get garbled or very soft. I'm hoping this is just a software fix and not hardware.
The number one thing that most people are talking about is the fact that the only native PC link is for Galaxy Notebooks only. Which I promise most people in the US don't have. While you may be able to by 3rd party apps to connect to your Windows PC, I would expect a native solution for the price of admission. Again, the hardware is more than capable, just got to tweak the Software/UI to make it happen.
I love my Galaxy XR headset and look forward to the ongoing improvements to come!

Great headset but improvements are needed fast
As of today, I give the Galaxy XR a 4/5. As the software matures and we start seeing third-party accessories to improve comfort, this device will be the best VR headset out there, period. I believe we need to give Samsung and Android a chance to improve things here. Meta headsets also struggled in the beginning of this journey, and they've learned and are now great at it. The biggest issues right now with Samsung Galaxy are with software performance. Having the experience of using many VR headsets that came before this, I believe if Samsung cares about this device and continues to support and refine the software—things like eye tracking, hand tracking, app support (addressing lags and lack of productivity apps), and a better ecosystem that takes into consideration Windows in general—this headset is wonderful. Give the company a chance; Samsung did an outstanding job based on the experience so far. Great headset, and when things get better with the software, this device is a 5, coming from a person who uses a Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3 every day. I just want to say thanks for this collaboration and for what they've delivered so far. Keep improving the software and the apps library for XR.

As someone who reviews countless slide decks, viuals and other pieces of media, this is a fantastic way to prepare for presentations while being able to speak confidently without having to stare at a laptop screen. Sure it may look a bit goofy to have a headset on while giving a presentation. But to me, this is a proof of concept, and I'm excited for what the future of Android XR holds.

It's Great with some issues
I love this headset. It delivers on quality and serves a lot of purposes that I was looking for this product to do. The screens are of a high quality, makes viewing any content you plan on viewing look like its displayed in nearly 4k or equal to. The materials appear to be of a high quality. The surfaces have a esthetic that looks good to the eye and feel good to the hand.
Now for the bad. It only has 256gb of storage as an option. For anyone who wants to have a substantial library of games or store movies for a long trip on a plane, on a bus, or in a car. This device doesn't provide a large enough room. The next issue is the headstrap. it would have made more sense for them to have made the headset little more modular for people that are not the average face shape. The pressure on the forehead is not that comfortable. My advice for being able to use it long term(i.e. 1-2hrs) keep your forehead muscles as relaxed as possible. buying a top strap might be a fix. Just set the dial to just enough to make contact with forehead and back of your head, and have the rest of the support from a top strap.
The last and most important aspect to those that want this headset to be very competitive. Make the wireless connectivity a little more optimized. Work along side with Steam to get Steam link 2.0 to support this headset. The latency has been lack luster. When compared to the Play for Dream, it just doesn't compete. It's a software issue that can be resolved. Once I see more support in the future for Hardware and software, I will return to change my review based on the progress or lack there of.
Thank you Samsung for getting the ball rolling at least.
