Rated 5 out of 5 by from Advertised speed at reasonable cost Received it 3 days earlier than anticipated (good on you Samsung, for not skimping the shipping) and plugged it in, fired it up and below are the CrystalDiskMark results. For the people complaining about speeds, I advise to read the full documentation before complaining about having delivered speeds lower than "advertised" - and I quote on the READ speeds "Up to 300 MB/s for 256/128GB models; up to 200 MB/s for 64/32GB models." So my device surpassed advertised read speeds by a great margin. And again under device specifications "Up to 300MB/s read speed for USB 3.1, write speed is lower than read speed." My lowest recorded benchmark read speed was 360MB/s. Actual usage depending on file size will affect "real use" speeds, other hardware, and if Windows decides to take a dump on your system with bogus bloat while transferring. This is the most reasonably priced 256GB type C with A adapter that I could find, by a company that you won't normally be gambing with. Other suppliers I found were just not reputable enough like Samsung, who though still does have their flaws, generally makes solid products. I detracted a single star overall and 2 for design because the adapter isn't fully sealed, and if carrying around in a pocket or dusty environments, the internals of the type A adapter where the type C plugs in will pick up pocket/environmental debris/dust. An extra little cap (that may be lost) or a small rubber seal like some phone cases have to cover the exposed adapter socket would be a great design addition, or maybe a swivel. Other than that, the inclusion of a type A adapter makes this wonderful because not all devices currently have access to a type C alone, and I had no realistically measurable performance degradation when using the A adapter, so long as the A socket is realistically a superspeed or superspeed plus socket. There was a tenfold drop in performance when using a non-3.1/3.0 type A, which is expected. -------------------------------------------------- [Read] Sequential 1MiB (Q= 8, T= 1): 417.557 MB/s [ 398.2 IOPS] < 20047.24 us> Sequential 1MiB (Q= 1, T= 1): 417.538 MB/s [ 398.2 IOPS] < 2510.35 us> Random 4KiB (Q= 32, T=16): 14.290 MB/s [ 3488.8 IOPS] <105542.83 us> Random 4KiB (Q= 1, T= 1): 13.268 MB/s [ 3239.3 IOPS] < 308.32 us> [Write] Sequential 1MiB (Q= 8, T= 1): 114.920 MB/s [ 109.6 IOPS] < 72278.20 us> Sequential 1MiB (Q= 1, T= 1): 114.930 MB/s [ 109.6 IOPS] < 9112.53 us> Random 4KiB (Q= 32, T=16): 21.367 MB/s [ 5216.6 IOPS] < 78683.93 us> Random 4KiB (Q= 1, T= 1): 21.248 MB/s [ 5187.5 IOPS] < 192.36 us> Profile: Default Test: 1 GiB (x5) [Interval: 5 sec] Date: 2020/05/21 14:56:02 OS: Windows 10 [10.0 Build 18362] (x64)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from simple and fast I got this simply for the ability to use it with my tablet... transfering things directly to the drive on the go makes it totally worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really slow write speed I have got a Sandisk Pendrive that has a write speed of about 50-70. It's not evern 3.1, so I thought that this Samsung 3.1 pendrive will be able to deliver faster speeds. Ohh I was so wrong, tried to put some files on it and THIS PENDRIVE HAS 20MB/s speeds. Don't buy this if you need a fast pendrive, the read speeds are great anyway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Flash Drive! I've been using this flash drive for a few days and am very happy with it! The speeds are as advertised, maybe even a tad better. I tested using dd on my Macbook and got 328 MB/s reads and 38.3 MB/s writes. And with the dual connectors, I can easily transfer data from my old Macbook to my newer Macbook. Very satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile Fast and Stylish I have had this for over a year now and find it to be my favorite flashdrive. I like the versatility of being both C and 3.1 friendly. The challenge with this is the plastic housing which cracked - so now I have to wrap tape around it in order for the 3.1 adapter to stay in place. Figuring out a solid metal housing would be better. Being able to load 256K of data on it is a huge plus. And it is reasomnably priced. I even bout another as a gift for a friend and she and I both use it va lot,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product but the 256 was configured as 32.. I had bought the 256 USB C flash drive last year and finally got around to using it. It worked and moved the files but...found it was formatted to 32GB. Checked the label and the order, I had ordered the 256 correct and label matched 256 as well. Tried to check size through explorer and tried to reformat but still was only 32 GB. Used my expertise and used command prompt and found yes it was 256 but it was only portioned to 32GB and had to erase partition, create new, did a full format and then got it to work with the full storage as intended. Works great but a little upset at this mistake on the company's end.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Samsung is my storage Go-to. I use Samsung products whenever possible. In my home Samsung is trusted. When it come to storage options, no one can compete. Before using Samsung devices, I would regularly have to replace devices due to failure. The only reason I've replaced Samsung devices had been to upgrade. Never a failure... Not even once. Nice job Samsung!!!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor design, slow write, easy to toose adapter. Altogether a nice idea, but it is very easy to to loose the USB A adapter, should have been part of the main body with 2 caps instead.... Very slow write cycles, read super fast. Takes hours to use it as a backup disk. Lots of better and cheaper options in the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap plastic lines the tip After around 10 uses the tip, which is lined with a cheap plastic, broke apart and got lodged in the usb-c port of my 2018 MacBook Pro. cables weren't seating properly into the port, so I brought it to apple and they used tweezers to yank out the pieces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very low speed I bought this flash drive recently with the hope that I will get a comfortable speed of recording and reading. Connected to the USB3.0 port, formatted in NTFS, in order to be able to download large files as a result did not get not only no write speed - 27.26 MB / s, but also a very low reading speed of 44.38 MB / s, instead of the promised 300 MB / s Just before I bought a 128GB USB flash drive, there's also a low speed, I thought I would buy Samsung and get the promised speed, but my expectations did not come true. In addition, there are too many parts: an adapter, a cap and a flash drive itself. And everything is not connected with each other. Could have given even a lanyard to connect the cap and the flash drive. One more question: does Samsung not know that 99% of users use phones in their cases, so USB Type-C just does not get to the port! Absolutely nothing the thing, money thrown to the wind! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall good value I purchased this as a quick way to transfer files from my phone to the computer (and vice versa). Overall this is a good value. File transfering is quick and easy with only one issue that's a nuisance. Too many parts. There are three parts to this usb stick, and on a couple of occasions I lost the top cover in between the recliner. There should be a way to tether all of the interchangeable parts in order to keep them from getting lost. Overall, this is a helpful usb, especially when transferring from android to a macbook. I would definitely purchase again if they updated the design. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from slow write speed this has slower write speeds than another samsung USB-C key (no longer sold on the website) but had only 64 GB max. On different machines USB 3.1 capable, the best write speed this unit delivers is in the range 48-53 MBps. The previous unit showed 135-142 MBps while writing. As far as read speed goes, it is so and so at 130 - 145 MBps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Broken after 1 use. it's a cool idea, but despite being water proof, shock proof, magnet proof, temperature proof and x-ray proof (??), the flimsy lid couldn't protect the usb c connector in my pocket. unfortunately, instead of the lid sealing/attaching to the rest of the thumb drive and protecting the connector, it only seals around the connector itself, so any force on the lid, damages the usb c end.
