Its very much worth the extra you pay for it. I haven't found anything it hasn't interfaced to. I have never had a single failure of any of my Samsung drives. I highly recommend Samsung everything.

Super fast read/write speeds can make any computer old or new feel much more spiffy. Visual appeal of Samsung ssd's in a custom pc that showcases components is another nice bonus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly fast, stays cool, & plenty of space Im a huge fan of the Samsung EVO line of NVMe's and have beeb using them for several years now, including the bew 990 EVO. The 990 EVO supports the M.2 2280 form factor and is NVMe (so full PCIe speed) which means plug-and-play for modern motherboards. Power efficiency: According to reviewers, the 990 EVO delivers “enhanced power efficiency, reportedly up to 70% better than the 970 EVO Plus.” For laptop users or machines where heat/power budget matter, that’s a win. Reliability & brand: As with all Samsung “EVO” drives, you get a 5-year warranty and solid support/tooling (eg. Samsung Magician software for firmware updates, drive health). Its a great drive for everyday use and easily handles tasks such as Booting, OS loads, game loads, and had amazingly fast general responsiveness... this drive will absolutely deliver at that level with no hiccups. One thing to note is that The 990 EVO (and its Plus variant) uses two PCIe 5.0 lanes (x2) or four PCIe 4.0 lanes (x4) in compatible systems. The practical upshot: even though it advertises “PCIe 5.0 support”, you’re basically getting PCIe 4-class bandwidth unless under very specific conditions. If you’re using it in a board with full PCIe 5.0 x4 lanes (or expect extremely high sustained write speeds) this might matter, but in most cases shouldn't be an issue. Read/Write speeds are blazing fast with ~5000mb read/write...there are obviously drives which exceed this, but at speeds this quick, you'll hardly notice any difference. 1TB is plenty of space, but get as much as you can afford. I have 8TB of SSD in my PC across 3 NVMe and I'm still coming close to maxing that out with all the games I play...most folks may not need nearly that, but games are getting bigger and bigger and some of mine (COD) take up almost 200GB each.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another SOLID drive in the Evo series During the 8 years that I have been booting off a 970 Evo, I have had three other drives fail me. A Seagate, WD, and PNY. The PNY I was expecting to fail, but not the other two given their load as mere game libraries. Still, the 970 Evo shows no signs of age in that time, despite being my C drive. It was an easy decision then, to buy another Samsung drive for my other M.2 slot. The 990 Evo is every bit as good-looking as it's predecessor(which is a weirdly neglected design consideration by some manufacturers, we like to display our internals these days) and also comes with no heatsink. While my 970 did occasionally throttle during very large transfers, the 990 never seems to, maintaining its significantly faster speed no matter what I throw at it. As long as Samsung keeps making the best stuff, I'll keep buying Samsung.

I replaced it with this Samsung drive and it has performed flawlessly since. I have purchased a variety of other Samsung EVOs in a variety of capacities since then and all have worked well with great performance and no failures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic drives I originally purchased some Samsung 970 EVO nvme 1tb drives years ago. They've always worked flawlessly without issues so I've ended up buying 3 more. I gave some as gifts to friends but I've never had any issues with Samsung m.2 ssd. They've worked with multiple motherboards over the years as I've updated computers. I'm now looking to get higher memory over, but the 1tb capacity is great and they still perform like new. Once they're formatted it's very easy to use like any other drive, just directly in Windows you can see everything about the drive.

I have enough knowledge to understand the processing capabilities of these. I get no issues when I push my system with downloads, data transfers, and game time loads. I rarely see much heat increases too. And I am impatient when it comes to processes in pcs. I do extreme multi-tasking and push my pc to its limits. Even when I upgraded my cpu I just added more multi-tasking. I'd recommend this card without hesitation even for gamers. True gen 5 may not be utilized but gen 5 is still rarely used on boards anyways and you wouldn't be unhappy with the speeds of this card. Specially if you get this on sale. Can't beat price per performance per watt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Samsung is my go to for fast stable dependable SSD Added a more efficient heat sink from Amazon for $12 w/adhesive and popped this awesome upgrade into my Dell Gaming Laptop. Night and day improvement to performance over the older SSD still installed running OS. I literally thought something went wrong when I started moving files to the new drive because it was SO much faster than the other. No problems with the drive outside it does run super fast so don't stick this thing in without adequate heat mitigation. Not a knock on Samsung but just physics with the speed of these modern SSD. Would purchase again with out hesitation. I have 4 Samsung SSD this one a portable and two 980 in a tower workstation plus a great 512 Thumb and they all have never had any issues That's good because Samsung Care+ is a joke and should be honestly looked at for how bad the coverage and service is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Storage Drive I Have EVER Used, Bar N¨one I bought this NVME SSD a few months ago and absolutely love it - I already wish I'd bought another one though, as my laptop has 2 m.2 slots, and the included SSD is only 512GB - in fact, I wish I would have just sprung for 2 of the 2TB 990 EVO models, because I love this thing. It's extremely fast and efficient, and I'll never need an external drive again as backup. From the research I've done, this thing should last forever at the rate I use it, which is why I went with the 990 EVO - not only because it carries the Samsung name and banner of quality, but because I also have an 870 EVO I've used as an external drive for years. Plus the Samsung Magician app makes tracking the life of these drives so simple. These things have the speed, bukld and longevity as any of the best Samsung devices, and I'll be sticking with Samsung-brand SSD's for as long as I need local storage. I just dont trust my work, school and personal data with anything less than the best, which is why I do choose and will continue to choose only the Samsung family of storage devices.

That was my life for a while. My old hard drive was packed to the gills, and everything felt like a chore, from booting up to opening a simple program. It was a constant source of low-level frustration. ?So, after a bit of research and waiting for a good sale, I finally bit the bullet and grabbed a 1TB SSD. Honestly, I didn't think it would make that much of a difference, but I figured anything was better than what I had. The installation was pretty straightforward, and once I had it plugged in and my system reloaded, the change was immediate. My computer booted up in seconds. Not "a minute or two," but actual seconds. The difference was night and day. ?The real test came when I started moving over my massive photo library and a few of my favorite games. The file transfers were so fast it was almost surreal. Games that used to have me staring at a loading screen for what felt like an eternity now pop up almost instantly. It's like the entire machine just got a new lease on life. It's not just a faster computer; it's a more pleasant experience. ?The best part, though, is the peace of mind. I no longer have to constantly manage my storage, picking and choosing which files to delete to make room for new ones. Running windows 2012 professional, 32 GB Ram, and 512lm graphics and CPU Intel Core I7, and graphics Intel IrisXe and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060, 3072x1920x60 resolution. After finishing the build and installing windows, I had immediately noticed it ran significantly faster than my own computer. My computer ran off a Samsung ssd. This nvme was much faster and was sleek and perfect. I had no complications whatsoever while using it. It just works.

I was actually contemplating just getting rid of my HP laptop but realized it had an empty nvme slot. I replaced my primary drive and it turned my pc into a beast. Load times speed of accessing data and running applications increased 25 fold. I couldn't be more impressed. Boot times and shut down times are amazing. It's been over a year no issues and couldn't be happier. Samsung stands behind their products as their performance and reliability are second to none.

I had a different Samsung ssd before and never had an issue. Though it may cost slightly more than say W.D. It's way less likely to lose memory or end up with corrupted data or corrupted memory cells, lowering the overall storage. So it's worth it.

The drive performs leaps better than the 970 EVO plus I was using in my PC. The 1gb cache makes a big difference for quickly moving even the largest files I have. I mainly use it for gaming and video editing; levels in Cyberpunk 2077 load almost instantly. The "Samsung Magician" software is actually useful too—it made cloning my old drive a breeze.

I have used it for over a year now with multiple backups of my phone and it has never failed a backup once. What would normally talk over an hour according to Smart Switch takes 15 minuets or less with the speed offered by the NVMe drive and a USB-4 cable

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, consistent drive. No issues so far with the 2tb nvme, shows no problems on crystaldisk after almost two years of consistent use. Great for large downloads, especially combined with fiber ethernet, with top download speeds reaching almost a gigabyte per second.

The instructions and the additional software made the process seamless. I am so happy with my decision and will be purchasing another one to upgrade my other laptop.
