Rated 5 out of 5 byTitanBuilder from Blazing Fast NVME DriveI've installed Windows 10 Professional on this 960 Pro NVMe drive as a boot drive, and it is blazing fast. I have not encountered reports of throttling due to heat, in part because I am using this 1 TB drive as a boot drive and have offloaded the majority of file operations to secondary and tertiary drives. As far as installation and setup, this small stick couldn't be easier to slide into an M.2 slot and tighten down.

Read and write are bottlenecked by the older M2 slot to about 800MB/s in and out, still better than I would get with SATA 6. I can definitely tell a difference in speed over the older 840 EVO that it replaced. I'm still considering an M2 PCI card but for now am very happy with as is.

I have to say it was easier than I expected and they worked flawlessly together. Have been using for about 6 months now and have been very happy. Love the M2 design both for low-profile and ridiculous levels of speed.

Rated 5 out of 5 bySciFiHowy from The one I received only reads/writes 2200/1800I have an MSI X99A Gaming 7 and my speeds for my 960 PRO 512GB (onboard M.2 slot) are 2200/1800 or lower according to Magician, which is very close to the same as my 950 PRO 512GB (PCIe Adapter).I have installed the drivers, disconnected all other drives and removed the M.2 PCI card for the 950, checked that AHCI and not RAID is selected in BIOS, installed and then removed Intel RST, even moved the video card to PCI slot 3, and played with BIOS and rebooted many, many times. The 960 PRO did run much slower (800MB/s) when I set it to PCH mode instead of Auto. Otherwise, the fastest read/write achieved in my system is 2400/1800.The 960 PRO is still about as fast as the 950 PRO and costs a little less. I don't know if the issue is with the motherboard or the 960 PRO. Very fast-about 5 times faster than the SSD I was using to bootup. The price is a little high but you get what you pay for and so far, no problems with running hot.

Rated 5 out of 5 bydalo from Super UnstableI installed this unit on Z270X MOBO with i7-7700K cpu which is 2017 current and supposed to be M.2 friendly. First the drive wasn't recognised. When I finally got it working it was super unstable with multiple freeze on boot and BSOD. I have pulled the drive and reverted back to 850 EVO and my system has returned to stability. It's taken a month to get the "new" drive serviced and it still isn't back.

Rated 5 out of 5 byDkoeoefk123 from 960 Pro 512Pre-Ordered. Got mine 11-17. The package looks nice. Installed on Win 10 64 pro. Asus x99 Strix. Samsung magician 4.7 reads 3550mb , 2125mb. The back of the drive has a copper sticker. I was able to peel off the the sticker revealing the copper strip, not sure if it'll help cooling much. The other thing I did was peel off the top sticker and affix ramsinks to the controller and and the memory. I'd likely never hit a thermal wall but I used this setup on my 950 pro and liked it. This may void the warranty? Some may say this is expensive or the value isn't good. To me I am getting premium performance so I expect to pay premium price. Although this was about 20 dollars cheaper then the 950 pro when I bought thathis driveThe negatives of this, pre-order is my own fault. No NVME 2.0 as shown in desription. Also no new Samsung magician yet. No mounting screw, not a huge deal but those things are so small losing them is easy, I'd love to have an extra one. Also I pre-ordered before they mentioned watch_dogs 2. And as of yet I haven't gotten a code for the game, I would hope they will take care of customers in this situation but who knows. I also pre-orderd a 960Evo for my game storage. I fid that before the offer as well
