I use this as one of two game drives on my PC and I couldn't be happier with performance to size. The read write is acceptable and right around what's expected, and so far the drive has been nothing but reliable for the last three years. The EVO series is my go to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Performance, value and reliability We replaced four (4) standard mechanical hard drives with 9100 Pro SSD's after a horrible crash in one of our business NAS units. The leap in performance was nothing short of spectacular. These SSD's ran much cooler than hard drives so it was really a win/win for us. After upgrading the NAS, I ordered one for my personal system, an Alienware. The read performance as well as the seek performance almost made it like a new system compared to the 2 TB drive that was in there. It was nice to see the extra space that was so needed with today's ultra high resolution games. All this and the price couldn't be beat. All around it was an easy upgrade using Samsung's software to migrate the software from one drive to the new SSD. We have one more NAS that will need upgrading and and I still have 2 more open ports to use on the Alienware, so the only drives I'll trust now are Samsungs.

It costs more ,but you get what you pay for. You get a full warranty where Samsung will replace it because of any defects and most the time will send tou a new one even if it is user error. The speed in which it loads games is incredible. Every other storage ive used internal for my ps5 or external boasts lightning fast speeds but do not actually perform them. Then you take Samsungs quality craftsmanship into account. You can take one look at the insides of a Samsung Sata or ssd and so on and just tell that they really spent millions on research and development. Because the cheaper storage devices for ps5 and computers like my Alienware and max book are fast and they are heavier. Because they use quality parts on the build and don't skimp out. Also worth mentioning is tik tok and Amazon and other websites boast about their new internal storage unit and external ssd or Satas but they are cheaply made and do not download your ps5 game as fast as advertised. Samsung however does. And it is so smooth.Nothing gets hot because of the perfect heating and airflow designs. If Playstation would of teamed up with Samsung the Playstation 5 would be so far ahead of any other console or computer. I hope one day Samsung makes all Playstation and Xbox and compute storage units and fans.a Along with microboards. Because there is no company that compares to Samsungs quality and functionality. Thank you Samsung for being here for us console users because we would be lost without you. My 500 dollar ps5 has 500 gigs of memory. We have like 6 games on there before we added the Samsung internal storage 4tb. Now it is like having 9 ps5 memory banks in one.In fact I sold my 1st ps5 for 200 because I was disgusted about constantly trying to decide which game to delete. Because many are free each month and remain free until you delete them months later. Then you have to pay for it. When your already paying over 20 dollars a month. Anyways ty Samsung for the best and most incredible designs and perfect functionality

Strong endurance: The specification for the 4 TB model is rated at 2,400 TBW (terabytes written) over its warranty period. That’s reassuring for heavy usage such as using for your primary OS drive like I do. I love the solid guarantee i get wirh the 5 year warranty from Samsung. It certainly gives me peace of mind for my long-term investments in their top notch storage offerings. Samsung is a mature, trusted brand & ecosystem. The “EVO” line has built a strong reputation in the space and is clearly a leader, as Samsung is in most of the spaces it competes in . It made my computer start up and load things way quicker than before. Setting it up was super easy, and moving my files didn’t take long. The 4TB of space is awesome for games, files, and whatever else you need. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s totally worth it for how good it works. Very affordable as well.

It was very easy following a video on you tube. Within 20 min I was up and running with my old 500gb hdd removed booted up my MacBook pro and it was like a brand new laptop. Within seconds it was fully booted , unlike the slow HDD that was in there before. This new SSD was amazingly fast . I'm aware now but if I had known how fast it would make my laptop I would have done this years ago.

Read and write speeds are great for anything from m365 to gaming. With the storage of 4TB I'm impressed. I have 25 large games and music and still no degradation of performance and still lots of room.

My oldest is a 850 evoo 500g that would boot my pc in under 3seconds and after almost 10 years has never seen a failure from heavy use. My new 970s and 870s are even more insanely fast. I work alot with adobe and data and am a hobbiest photographer which means i use memory alot, from cards to ssds to usb drives im constantly uploading and offloading and am oldschool so don't really use clouds. I've bought a few other brands but none have performed as well as Samsung and their reliability has be convinced to never switch.

Over the years, video games have grown in file size exponentially. 10 years ago, a full game would take up 10-20gb, but these days, a single game is using 200+ so the 500gb ssd wasn’t cutting it anymore. I got sick of constantly deleting and redownloading whatever games I wanted to play at that time so I upgraded to 4tb This thing is both big and fast, on such a small card! I experience absolutely 0 latency, it loads everything ultra fast. After having an ssd, I will NEVER go back to hdd. This has all of the benefits of ssd for a price that won’t break the bank and Samsung quality is a force to be reckon with!

Hardly any use and they are getting a massive amount of bad blocks eventually with total failure. I recently did a data recovery on one of these and it was a nightmare. But the WORST is the Samsung warranty process. It is a nightmare. Multiple forms. Repeat questions. Drawn out process where I think they just hope you give up. Then you have to ship the drive internationally and wait for a replacement. Not good at all.

Luckily I was able to recover many corrupted files from a backup. SMART data confirms 566 bad blocks and over 10,000 unrecoverable failures. I've read that this model SSD sold in 2021 have known defects and are prone to early failure.

The key was to select GPT for my partition table when formatting the drive. When completed, the drive had 3.6 TB of usable space. I then used SAMSUNG MAGICIAN to optimize its performance to achieve write and read speeds over 1200 MB/second. I use the drive to store the 25,000 photo raw files for Lightroom. It more that doubled the performance of the 2 TB Western Digital hard drive I was using before. I'm very pleased with my new Samsung 870 EVO SATA SSD!

I’ve been using this drive for a couple months now in an external enclosure and it’s outperformed any previous drives I’ve owned in this use case. If you’re looking for a solid alternative to cheap platter drives the 4TB 870 EVO is your answer! I get 550/525MB/s read and write speeds in the enclosure meaning zero performance loss. If someone were to ask for a recommendation on a high performance SSD with capacity as high as 4TB I’d absolutely recommend this drive! I have, for the curious nerd in me, tested this drive as an external boot drive. It performed as if it were connected via internal SATA.
