Doesn’t play well with Win10
Nothing wrong with the drive, but Windows 10 keeps losing track of it. It just disappears...and I have tried all sorts of drive mappings. Apparently this is a known (obviously not by me) issue with usb 3.1. Unfortunately, I wanted this for a bigger working drive...and it is useless for this purpose.

Reliable, compact, and fast. This little drive is excellent for files that you need to transfer back and forth quickly. It's also nice that it has such a small footprint on your desk.

Great ssd
I love this device, I was going to get another m.2 nvme ssd but decided that I would get this as it was on sale and 2 terabytes is a great amount of storage and try it out. It turns out I can't tell the difference between this and my internal m.2 and I love it. It's also secure and password protected. I highly recommend this ssd and it was more than affordable for how much storage it has and how fast it is.

I bought this solid state drive after I lost data using a Seagate external drive without realizing that I could get up one morning and all my carefully saved pictures were gone. A lot of them were in the cloud but not all. I have learned my lesson. Solid state. Plus it is so small and easy to carry. I am saving up for another one.

2TB Samsung T5
I have used many of the Samsung T5 models. The 500GB, the 1TB, and now the 2TB. The are very slim and portable. They look nice and perform very fast. It also comes with software to encrypt your drive. This is optional however. The 2TB is slightly on the expensive end but 2TB drives with 3.1 are still new and the price is relativaly in line with competing brands. When compared to other brands, the Samsung T5 is much faster and quite frankly looks better. It is light and easy to carry. I haven't had any concerns about durability. It definitely looks like it would survive if dropped. I highly recommend.

Very nice drive
Very nicely built -- smaller than I expected it to be. Very fast.
Not in love with the intrusive software, which I mistakenly installed. The software is required to do hardware encryption on the drive, and pops up asking for your password whenever you plug the drive in. I would have preferred being able to store the password in my Mac keychain so the drive could auto-mount. Samsung can do better.
I ended up uninstalling the software and removing hardware encryption from the drive. I used an encrypted filesystem on the drive instead.
The drive itself, other than the issues above, works great and is very fast.

Great Product - Highly Recommend - Tough as Nails.
Our organization could not be more pleased with the Samsung T5 SSD. Our primary use is VMWare Workstation Pro and the SSD allows easy storage and transfer of these large files. In the past, disk drives would not allow VM's to perform as needed. Trying to run industrial process control software was a hassle and corruption of the VM was common. Today's SSD using USB3.1 and Thunderbolt docking makes this functionality a breeze. We now run our alternate O.S. right from the SS-USB with no issues.
I have used my 1TB version of this drive for 5 years in the harshest of environments with no problems. This product is worthy of 5 stars +.
