Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lot of bang for your buckWe're currently using the 6610-24 as our core with ~600 nodes. This switch is extremely fast, and easily hits line speed with jumbo frames enabled (within 100 Mb/s without). Configuration is straight-forward. If you're familiar with Cisco IOS, you'll be at home with this - just do note that VLAN and etherchannel configuration is significantly different, as are a few other things. If you know how to read documentation, you'll be fine.If you require 10 Gb connectivity or routing protocols, do note that these are separate licenses, and the licenses are why the base cost of this unit is fairly low. The 10 Gb licenses activate 4 ports at a time, and the two L3 licenses offer different routing protocols (I believe OSPF with premium, BGP and OSPF with advanced, but definitely check with your rep on that). The stacking capability with these is wonderful, and you can have 10 total in a stack. Couple that with the stacking capabilities on the 64xx series, and you can have a very fast, reliable, and manageable network very easily. This is a seriously solid, seriously fast unit for the price.
