Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fell apart in 3 months I bought one of this vent mount in target, and tested it once before I put it back to shelf. I actually took it out and used on the new car I got since late December 2022, and never took it down or switched to another car etc. Under the very light use for 3 months, it broke and fell apart today. There wasn’t any shock or collision, I just found the mount was leaning forward. When I want to adjust it, I realized that is completely broke. It is too expensive for this quantity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive Proprietary Apple Accessory I bought the Otterbox MagSafe vent mount as the least expensive MagSafe magnet option because the ball attached to my existing floor mount, goose neck. If I wanted to use a magnet-based mount, I didn't have much choice thanks to the royalty OtterBox pays Apple for the MagSafe technology.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good Got for iPhone 14 in an Otterbox MagSafe case. Like others I had to pry apart the clip with a butter knife to install on the car vent but it hasn't dropped the phone once, even over the bumpiest of roads.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why is everything made with cheap plastic? I purchased this vent mount in September. It broke at the screws after only 3 months. I was pinching the button to move the mount and it broke to pieces since the little screws broke the plastic. I wish everything wasn’t so cheaply made. I did call to complain and they’re sending a replacement… I have to pay for shipping though. I’m not sure if the replacement will last much longer but if this mount was made of better quality materials and didn’t break, I would rate it higher.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong magnet and clamp Sturdy, good design. The magnet is strong, that holds the phone just fine. The clamp is pretty strong, too, just make sure you get the entire clamp on a vent or it could shake loose (don't just use the end of the clamp). Also, when removing the phone, don't pull the clamp loose at the same time.

My car’s navigation system is old and the streets around my neighborhood had changed so much I have to use the maps on my phone. But too dangerous to have phone lying around, this is a life saver!

The magnet is so easy to use and better than expected! My husband who is a minimalist and is not a fan of extra purchases even loves it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wouldn't stay up The magnets were great and held my phone well. The joint wouldn't hold well enough though, and whenever I would face it towards me at a normal angle it would quickly slip to where it was facing more downward.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Defective This is the second Otterbox car vent mount I purchased. Returned the first one and ordered same item from Otterbox directly. I just received my car vent mount in the mail today, opened the box and began assembling the two pieces. The part that pushes down to open the vent clip does not open the clip and allow attachment to the vent which makes this useless and inoperable. Will need to send back and find another company that works with MagSafe. Photo shows button depressed.

Most are only compatible with their own magnet so you have to stick that on your phone (which is annoying and ugly). Also, many have a very small surface area so I'm always worried the phone isn't attached right. Finally, this one does not wiggle around and is mounted very sturdy and hasn't fallen off while I'm driving (a problem I've had in the past!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn’t be better – Secure and low profile! I was very skeptical about using a MagSafe holder in the car with a huge phone (iPhone 12 Pro Max, but I have been proven wrong! I have been using it for a few days and my phone has not budged – even when going over bumps and potholes. You can also adjust the phone position without the vent clip coming out. I have a 2018 Mazda CX-5 and it works in any of the vents. I also really like that it is low profile. The one downside is that you have to make sure you have a case that supports this holder! My fiancé’s phone case works with MagSafe charging but it is not a true MagSafe case and it does not stay on the holder.

I can this is one powerful magnet for magsafe cases. My iPhone has yet to fall off. I have the pro max it's a big phone and this car vent mount does the job.

I drive a Volvo XC60 and while it has all of the bells and whistles, there’s just no good place to put my phone that’s easily accessible outside of a cup holder— which doesn’t work when you have both a water and a coffee and need the phone on the charger. I clipped this into the vent, tossed my phone on and voila! No more slipping around or flying across the car when I hit the brakes too hard.

I called otterbox for an exchange to give it another try, but they are sold out and couldn't give me anything else. The magnet is great and it held the phone just cheaply made on the clip area.

So having the mount set up makes it visible enough to take a quick look without it being safety hazard. Seems durable enough and should be great for our next family road trip.

The best part is that it doesn't need a special case if you have a MagSafe compatible iPhone, it just sticks. The magnet is strong and holds my phone well. It works with my case off or with my MagSafe otterbox case on. I don't actually use it in my car. I have it set up on a "pen mug" on my desk. It elevates my phone and lets it act as an extra screen on my desk. Great accessory.

The tilt ball thing does not secure itself and falls down so the phone is always at an angle. Not happy with that portion

My case did not have to be removed so an added bonus. The mount was easy to adjust to put my phone in the beat position while I was driving.

No sticky residue etc having to mount it to another surface. The mag is very powerful and my phone never slips. Can’t recommend this enough!

I don't have an iPhone, but I do have a phone that I thought would work. My phone is too heavy for this magnet. I'm sure it works well for what its intended purpose is. I gave it a shot, but I can't speak for iPhone users. The product is well made and the magnet is strong, so I think it would work just fine. It clips into a vent, so if that is what you want, you might want to try this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful magnet I will knock off one star, because when I got it, the clip had fused together. I tried everything, but in the end, it was brute force that got it apart. I'm not sure if it got too hot when shipping and fused them, but it was an annoying ten minutes. The good, it holds the phone well. It didn't flip my vent down like others I've tried. Even with sudden braking and country roads, it's not yet fallen off. It puts the phone within eyesight if there's some sort of emergency I need to address by pulling over. Overall, works as advertised.

I didn't want a vent mount but it was the only mount that seemed decent and available in stores. It worked flawlessly until a few days ago when it wouldn't hold on the vent any longer. I removed it and noticed that the base plate that houses the clamping mechanism was broken. So I ended up ordering a new mount that adheres to my dash instead of the vent. Much more stable and secure. Again, it worked and was great but then again it should hold up longer than 3 months.

The vent clip broke and OTTERBOX customer service is absolutely terrible. They do not respond to emails and their warranty process on their page does not even show this item. waste of $40
