Not the best protection
Like the look and it feels sturdy, but I dropped my previously undamaged phone and the entire back shattered in the case.

Lowered quality
I ordered the Symmetry case before I received my iPhone 13 pro. I’ve had nothing but otterbox symmetry cases for about 7 iPhones and had always been happy with them. This one does not seal around the outer edges as well as the cases in the past. I called otter and a new one of the same style was sent to me with the same problem. I just might look around.

A huge step down for the Symmetry Series
I have used the Symmetry series for the past several years on different iphone models. Right out of the box I noticed it was flimsy compared to the previous ones I've had. Also, there is a grainy texture on the back that makes it unpleasant to the touch and harder to hold. Why did Otterbox mess with this case?

Everything I don’t want in a case
Let me just say - yikes. I’ve loved my Star Wars Symmetry case so much, that I figured this one had to be just as good. I’ve tried at least 10 other cases so far - name brand AND generic. All the pricier brand name ones have a cut for the silence button that has the button off center - same for this Otterbox. A lot of the cases have a hard plastic lining inside and there’s no sort of cushion - same with this case. I figured the gold / black / grey marbled look might be nice, but instead it looks like the case has scratches and the design is already worn at the top. The thing I’ve hated about other cases so far is the sharp squared edge (I just dislike this about the phone in general) and the seam on the sides that most of them have. Well the back edge is rounded on the Otterbox and is why I decided to try this case despite bad reviews. But the gap between the plastic and the rubber on the sides is huge and very uncomfortable. Much larger than my old Symmetry case.
To top it all off, the texture of the design itself is grainy, and it makes a loud noise when you move your fingers across it. My hand touches the outside of my phone a LOT (obviously) and moves around while I’m holding it, and I don’t want my case making the same noise that cardboard makes when I run my finger across it. Just, yikes.
It also arrived in non-retail packaging (shipped and sold by Amazon) that wasn’t advertised, and while it was sealed like a glued cereal box, and I appreciate the eco conscious packaging, there was no padding - the case was just bouncing around inside the box. You also can’t see the design from the outside since it’s solid cardboard with no cutouts, so it’d make a terrible gift since the recipient can’t even see it, and I couldn’t even make the judgement on the design til I broke the seal. I appreciate no plastic, but some other big names did cutouts so you can at least see the design, and no case I’ve bought so far was loose in the box.
There’s also a change in the camera protection where it sticks out, rather than the case caving in. I’m not a fan, but I think Apple forced this change a bit with the phone’s design. Phone won’t lay flat on a table though and wobbles with the new design. There’s no raised bumper or anything at the bottom to keep it from wobbling.
This has been the most bizarre case I’ve come across so far. 100% returning. The pics are comparing this case to my iPhone 8 Symmetry case. Almost everything I was NOT looking for in a case exists here.

OtterBox is the best!
I tried cheaper cell phone cases before but tried Otterbix and only use them now. They are absolutely the best. I use their other cases for canoeing, scuba diving, and travel. Their products are the best! I ordered my last cell phone case through Otterbox directly in the customer service is outstanding!

I Love this Case
Been using OtterBox since I can remember. I particularly like the symmetry series as it provides maximum protection in a minimal package. This latest purchase was to replace y 5 year old case. It had been around the world and back and deserved a break. It is perfect!
