Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exposed edge!!! The Commuter case for the iPhone 16 Pro leaves 1 inch of the top screen edge, above the new camera button, 100% exposed. I've used OtterBoxes for ALL of my phones the last 20 years, but I will NOT be using one for this phone. I am SO disappointed with the design of this phone case. After only a few days of using the Commuter case, I decided to look elsewhere for a case that DOES protect 100% of the screen edges. A $1,200 phone that I carry all day every day, and drop here & there, MUST be 100% protected. Period. And the design of the iPhone 16 cases with the edge missing above the camera control, is not okay.

I won't use any other case and I love that I can use this with the MagSafe charging. I like that this case is smaller but seems to have comparable protection. I would recommend this case to anyone.

My wife dropped her phone from about table height in our kitchen onto a wood floor and the back glass on the phone shattered. I don’t think this would have happened with the regular defender case that does not have MagSafe compatibility.

It was difficult to hold in one hand. You couldn’t lay it down on anything that was angled, such as a arm of the couch. The phone would slide right off. Needless to say the case has been returned.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only good feature is lanyard attachment option I bought this case from Verizon, for my New IPhone 13 pro, I previously had a iPhone 8, so I am a little outdated when it comes to all these newer options for cases- I also purchased the symmetry mag safe case for this phone, cause that was the only available case when I ordered it on the 17th- this case I purchased about a week later. So the protection this case offers is not at all the same protection the old defender cases used to offer. The material of this case is too smooth and feels like it can slip out of my hand easily. Only thing I do love about this case is the lanyard attachment option! But with that being said, (OTTER PLEASE SELL A QUALITY LANYARD!! luckily I had a new blackberry lanyard I never used from a decade ago in a box of charging cables. So the LANYARD feature is amazing, but you need a quality lanyard!! Now let’s talk about this MagSafe garbage! I know people love it, that’s why I got suckered into buying it, but do the cases need to be MagSafe to use it? My old iPhone 8 which had the defender case on, that wasn’t an “official MagSafe case” charged on the pad. This white circle leaves a mark on the back of this case. Not sure if it’s because of the white circle on the inside, or from being placed on the pad. The iPhone 8 with the defender case didn’t leave a white circle. Forgetting about the white circle mark, the case becomes sooooo hot when it’s on the pad. Ok now let’s talk about the protection the case offers for the camera lenses……… Is there any? There is barely any edge of the case protecting the camera lenses when you rest the back of the phone down!!!! It’s horrible! My other issue with case is it leaves a gap around the rim of the phone, where the screen protector stops and the case begins. It’s a dirt, dust and lint trap! My other issue is with the speaker on the top of the phone, the case doesn’t adjust to accommodate that, so the case is directly ontop of the speaker and I think it is affecting the speaker. The case has flaws and for the price it costs it’s disappointing. Unfortunately since I purchased it through Verizon and they have a horrible return policy I am out about $150 between both cases and the useless screen protector that is a dust trap! Lesson learned, DON’T purchase cases at Verizon!

Magsafe charger works with out any issues. Be advised: shipping sucks. I had to wait an extra 2 days just to get my phone case delivered to me.

The Pro XT seemed to solve the bulk while providing the protection. I have had the case for a month now, and it lives up to the claims made for it. One additional item - the lanyard fitting is really handy, it has already saved me from dropping the phone while I was juggling other items with the hand that was holding the phone.

It's a protective holder for a iPhone13 Pro - This is a solid well considered design combined with a good fit and product quality standards which are well above average. I am pleased with the fit. the reader will understand that I'll forgo the purposeful drop test with a $1000 dollar phone and presume that the advertised protections claims are accurate.

Well, this case is still the protection but a much sleeker, slim feel. I love that it isn’t too heavy or thick, offers the protection that I want with a phone this expensive, but is also stylish. Great job with this otterbox!

I surprisingly did this again but with the otter box on my phone and can’t believe my phone is not shattered. The case took a somewhat of a beating but is still intact. I love the sleek slim design too fits perfectly into my pocket without getting stuck.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged protection Highly impressed with this case. It recently dropped out of my pocket and slid 20 ft face down on the concrete. Edges of the case were scraped up but surprisingly no damage to phone. I was wearing athletic pants with shallow pockets and running outside. Have not had any other issues with it sliding around. Nice matte finish. Other cases with this type of protection can be very bulky. Not this Pro Defender Pro XT case. It is rugged but very comfortable to hold. I would buy again for sure! MagSafe feature is nice to have as well, although I have yet to purchase accessories to test this function.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong *slim* for an Otterbox I never thought I would use or like an otterbox case. I like thin cases or no case at all. I love the way my iPhone looks and feels in my hand without anything on it. I've always been this way. Whenever I've seen an Otterbox case, I've thought "that's massive! Who would do that to a beautiful iPhone?" However, I actually like this case. It adds a bit of bulk to the phone but I like the study feel. I've also noticed that I don't worry about dropping my phone at all anymore. I also like that the case works with MagSafe accessories. All in all, if you need a STRONG case that isn't dramatically massive, this might be for you. It converted me.

It’s nice to not worry about every action taken that can lead to a broken screen etc. I have been using these cases for years for most of my IPhones and have never had my issues with them, even after dropping them. This Pro Defender fits well, is easy to get in and off , and I know I’m totally safe. Love Otter Box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Otterbox Defender Pro XT for iPhone 13 Pro This is a well-made case that makes me feel confident that my phone is protected against most damage, and without too much extra bulk, but I have a few concerns about the design and feel of the case. First, I found it extremely difficult to get the phone in or out of the case without applying much more force than I'm comfortable doing. The instructions appear relatively straightforward and I did see how to partially separate the rubber seal from the plastic part of the case, but every time it was an annoying and time-consuming struggle. Second, there is a cutout that leaves the physical ring/silence switch exposed but given the depth of the case and the angle of the cutout, I found it very difficult to toggle the switch on or off. This might not be a problem for someone with smaller fingers or long fingernails but I'm used to having easy access to this switch and the case frustrated me each and every time I wanted to silence my phone. My last concern is that the feeling of the back of the case was very smooth and too plasticy. If I'm going to use a case and sacrifice the feeling of metal in my hand, I would prefer a grippier texture more like rubber than plastic (for example, I was much more satisfied with the non-XT model of Otterbox's Defender Pro, which adds some thickness but had a much more pleasant feel overall. The sides of the phone were reasonably grippy and better than the back by far, but still less pleasant to hold than the phone itself or a more textured case. On the positive side, this case does seem to provide a good amount of protection without adding too much weight or additional size, and (while I don't have any official MagSafe accessories to test with) it worked extremely well with my wireless charging pad. I also liked the cover for the Lightning port, which was not too hard to move aside for wired charging or to connect a wired accessory. But if you want a protective case I feel that the Defender Pro is superior to the Defender Pro XT in nearly every way, even if it sacrifices some MagSafe capability and is not advertised as having a thin design... the XT is not so thin as to make that much of a difference for me.

Accidents happen, and we all drop our phones at one time or another, however with this case I know if/when I do drop it, it’s heavily protected. I also love the raised bezels on the screen side, and the camera side. I know that whatever way I lay my phone down, neither parts will get scratched. Would highly recommend this case

I have had this product in the past and it has really done the job on my other Iphone I owned for 4 years which I dropped a lot. I never had any issues with my Iphone as the case took the brunt of the drop force.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job well with a minor flaw Very durable and withstands against drops but the charging port cover flap is sometimes a bit difficult to open if you have short fingernails and is starting to tear away from the case as a result of attempting to open it unsuccessfully many times. As of this writing I have submitted a warranty replacement but otherwise I am satisfied with the durability of this case in drop protection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not protect form drops Ok, call me stubborn. I have stayed with Otterbox for longer than I can remember. Always a happy customer until now. My wife had this case with her iPhone 13 pro. she dropped it from about 3 feet up. Phone landed on its back and the back of the phone shattered. We went and spend a small fortune replacing the back glass, purchased a new case (this same one) and thought we were good to go. A week later she dropped it from about four feet up. Back shattered again. Still being stubborn, I left this case on my 13 pro. Last week I dropped my phone while walking down the hall. It fell from three and a half feet up onto carpet and the entire back shattered. This is not coincidence, this is not from abuse. All three times the phones shattered starting from the exact same spot. You can see the cracks spin out from the lower right section of the camera area. Not one, not two, but all three. When looking at other reviews I saw the same problem with multiple phones. If you look at the fit, the high camera edge puts pressure right on the camera lift area. If you drop your phone and the case's raised edge gets hit, it will focus all of the pressure to one specific spot and then you are toast. How Otterbox engineers missed this, I will never know. I know, I am a stubborn idiot for going through this three times before abandoning Otterbox, but I am a stubborn person. Hopefully my experience will help save you a phone. Do not buy this if you actually want to protect your case. The design of the back cause more harm than good. I am entirely convinced your phone would be better with no case at all. Really, it cannot protect a phone falling three feet onto carpet. Come on Otterbox!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Misleading but still great case I am dissatisfied in the verbiage of the product, it says “With MagSafe” which I interpreted from the 2nd picture as it comes with the MagSafe charger but it doesn’t. It only comes with the MagSafe compatible pad inside the case. As far as the case itself goes it looks great! Can’t wait to use it for music festivals & other “risky” activities where I wouldn’t trust going caseless. Would ask the Otter team to please update this product so someone else doesn’t make the same assumptions I did about what comes with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OtterBox refuses to make cool fun colors OtterBox finally came out with some great colors for their defender cases after years of boring ones. The rain check case says it works for iPhone 13 but it doesn’t. Phone is barely a year old. Why won’t OtterBox make the new colors available for the old phones even when the phone is 1 yr old. Rain check color needed for iPhone 13 Pro. Why won’t OtterBox be more fun & make better colors available on models at least 1 yr old. Dark boring colors are so outdated & why I quit buying cases from this company. I went to other companies & even found generics of OtterBox with more vibrant color choices. I love the rain check color combo & it’s the only reason I came back to OtterBox. After ordering it for my phone it wasn’t compatible for iPhone 13 like it says it is. Loved the protection of the cases but not the color options. Make me a fan of OtterBox again please. :)

First experience was receiving a new work phone - covered by an Otterbox case. We look forward now to charging our phone - wirelessly. In 3 separate instances - The Otterbox Defender has saved our phones (my wife's phone). 1.) Phone left on hood of car while loading the car. Car driven over the phone, tire tread mark on the face of the case - phone unscathed. 2.) Phone left on the hood of the car while loading/unloading grandchildren. Phone fell off car while driving on roadway, phone bounced striking the road, hit a guardrail and lading in a field adjacent to the road - phone located with Find My (app) 3.) Phone left on hood of car while picking up grandchildren from school. Drove 10 miles home to discover phone lodged in rear wiper blade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do not purchase holster for iPhone 13 Pro Max! As a long-time user of Otter products (15+ years), we experienced the quality and reliability of holster and case. We purchased three cases, alpha glass protectors, and holsters for our new iPhone 13 Pro phones. We cannot use the holsters! Turquoise color case is much too small for the holster (simply doesn’t fit at all). “Blue” and “Purple” case does fit the holster; however, the clip that holds the holster onto the case is not secure. The phone will fall easily out of the holster with slightest body movement. (Phone fell out of holster in a parking lot while exiting the car. Unaware of its loss until it was found on pavement later after returning to the car.) The Alpha Glass works well and instructions were easy to follow. I do not recommend the Turquoise color case or the holster for this iPhone model. Order Nbr 16168074

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not the poor quality from Amazon. I bought an "Otterbox" case on Amazon and it was not the quality and fix that my Otterbox cases have been in the past, so I returned it. I then bought this one of the Otterbox website and this one is Otterbox quality. No more Amazon Otterbox cases for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Port cover failure Bought two of this model, with both cases the rubber covering the charging port connection to the rest of the case wore out and separated, causing the cover to separate from the case and become unusable in its designed purpose. First case lasted a few months intact second case not half as-long as first. Not sure if because it’s a Mag safe case the expectations is that no one would use the port but disappointed in the quality.

It is slightly smaller than the Defender Pro series case so it does not fit in the defender holster. It will fit in but you will soon get tired of picking up your phone when it falls out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good customer service bad protection forback glass I bought this for my 13 Pro when I first got it and I am hard on phones but the back shattered after dropping it about 1 1/2 ft from ground. Excellent customer service, got a new case for my replacement phone but the back of my phone scattered again after 8 months with the new case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another 5 Years, No Cracks!! I had my old phone for 5 years with the same Otterbox the whole time! I can’t tell you how many times I dropped it down the stairs, out of my pocket when getting in the car, off the counter while cooking, once in the toilet (shhhh) and my Otterbox always kept it safe. I have to admit that 3 years of covid alcohol wiping it down, has made it a little dog eared, but overall it’s still doing its job. My 5yr old phone still looks brand new! Here’s to the next 5 crack-free years with my 3rd Otterbox!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Material will fail Beware. The material will fail. I purchased mine August 2023 and now in January 2024 the flap that covers the charging port receptacle is about to break off. Otherwise, it’s a good case and I love the ability to attach a lanyard…. Just beware!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SUCH a HUGE disappointment While hiking on a paved trail, I squatted down to pick up something I dropped and the phone fell out of my sweatshirt pocket. I’m 5’1. It fell, at most, 12” or 14”. Not only did the entire back shatter, but TWO camera lenses also shattered. I’ve trusted and sworn by the defender series for years. It got my phone through my daughter’s toddler years. Now it falls barely a foot and the whole back shattered and two camera lenses to boot? There were no Genius Bar appointments. I had NO camera for my daughters moving up day.

The one item that has already failed is the little fold-over cover that snaps into the space where the power plug is inserted. That cover has already detached from the cover. Also, the cover adds so much girth to the dimensions of the phone, my Belden phone charging stand with the adjustable height power plug, doesn't charge the phone because even on the most extended setting, the plug doesn't reach the contacts in the phone.

I felt that I could not get the case around my phone without breaking the phone and I had no idea how I would get it off if I ever did get it on. I returned it because it was impossible to use.

I’ve had Otterbox cases on all my phones, this is disappointing. I would consider other cases for iPhone 13 Pro.

I didnt use the magsafe accessories with the Iphone 12 Pro but wanted to go all in with the 13 Pro. Bought the windshield holder, wallet etc.. So I needed a case with Magsafe compatibility. I actually bought this case twice just in case I was wrong the first time. Both times I just could not get over how much this is not a Defender case. Maybe by name but that is all. The phone is so slippery its a pain to hold. The regular Defenders have a great rubbery feel and grip. This is horrible. There has to be a better way to incorporate Magsafe into the normal Defender case. Hope someone is reading the comments on here and Amazon and will make it happen from Otterbox. Thanks

It feels good in my hand and I feel so confident that my phone is protected. I also had a concern about the camera lens being so exposed so I did buy a lens protector from another source . It fit perfectly with the case. Thank you for making such a perfect case!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid case After a crazy night out with my friends, I’m pretty sure I dropped my phone hard on the ground 3 times. I was jumping, running, doing all kinds of crazy movements, and it just flew out of my pocket. To my huge surprise, the tiny raised camera protector protected all 3 cameras, leaving them unmarked. Even better, the screen protector was completely undamaged! As you can see in the photos, the case took a hell of a beating but the phone didn’t. I’m so glad I went with the magsafe version too, because the wireless charging is just flawless. However, there are some annoying things that I’d like to see improved with future designs. The camera edge is raised too much that it makes the phone rock when on a flat surface, and it gets pretty annoying sometimes. Also, the charging port cover is flimsy and cheap, and obviously it fell off within 6 months of use. Overall, I’m super happy with this case’s ability to protect my iPhone despite how thin and sleek it is. Would recommend to an average user!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Disappointed I have a Defender Series Pro XT with MagSafe on my Iphone 13 Pro. I've had it less than a year. Yesterday, I pulled my phone out of my front pocket and dropped it, literally a distance of 38", it landed back side down and shattered the back of the phone. I have used Otter Box exclusively for 22 yrs. I spoke with Support and Warranty, and they said they only Warrant products they make. You purchase a "well known brand, expensive" case to protect your investment, a $1000.00 phone, and the first time it is dropped, it fails. Yes, I have insurance on the phone but a company should stand behind the products they make to protect devices! Otter Box, you just lost a longtime customer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Misleading but still great case I am dissatisfied in the verbiage of the product, it says “With MagSafe” which I interpreted from the 2nd picture as it comes with the MagSafe charger but it doesn’t. It only comes with the MagSafe compatible pad inside the case. As far as the case itself goes it looks great! Can’t wait to use it for music festivals & other “risky” activities where I wouldn’t trust going caseless. Would ask the Otter team to please update this product so someone else doesn’t make the same assumptions I did about what comes with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indestructible Otter box is the hugest quality case. The craziest thing happened to my friend. He jumped off a sea wall by accident and dropped roughly 8 feet. Upon leaving the oceans edge he realized he had lost his phone. We found it the next morning in the sand. It survived the fall, the rough tides and the rain and STILL WORKS. It’s a miracle and I love otter box.
