Better appearance, less durable.
I bought this less than a month ago and I really appreciate the design on this compared to my last iPhone XR Defender. It’s chic and a lot more slim although, within only 3 days of use the rubber upper corner of the case where my cameras are is already sliding off. I’m very worried of it causing unwanted damage to my phone in the case of a drop and exposure to my cameras.

Terrible without protective screen cover
Since otter discontinued the protective screen cover, it’s become worthless. You have to buy a glass protector separate and I can’t get ghost touches to stop. Complete waste of money. Buying a new defender case from another company that comes with a protective glass cover.

I love this style otter box.
I have a work issued phone and this time around they gave us the less expensive otter box. Which does its job, but being all hard plastic it slips and slides around. So I purchased this one on my own because I love it so much. Easier to hold onto for us middle aged people.
No slipping no sliding good grip in hands.

Wireless charging issues
Love the case for it’s protection value. My charging cord at home stopped working so I went to Apple and purchased their wireless charging pad and block, instead of buying another $6 charger… invest in quality to but less later(?. To my huge disappointment my case will not allow the Apple charger to connect to the phone with the case on.
I know otter box recommends using their own accessories with the case, but I would have expected them to work with Apple product. Disappointed for sure.
I would recommend this case only if they never wanted to wirelessly charge their phone.

The only disappointing thing about the OtterBox cases is before the cases always had a plastic or glass scree. Now the
screen is glassless. The screen is most important part of the OtterBox case. That outterbox product has now taken a step back by not having the built-in screen and a little disappointing. Other than that it’s still a fairly good product.

Excellent and functional iPhone case
I have been using my Otterbox Defender case on my iPhone 12 Pro for over a month and am delighted with the protection, ergonomics and functionality of the case. It provides a highly protective case without too much bulk, an excellent non-slip grip, and the three-piece design makes it a piece of cake to install or remove from the 'phone. The port covers work very well and do no present any impediment to switching modes from silent to ring or inserting a Lightning cable. The Defender accommodates a screen protector with ease and the additional belt-clip piece when installed over the front of the iPhone makes a bulletproof screen cover. I utilize USB-to-Lightning for charging since I have a house full of legacy charging solutions, so I haven't missed wireless charging that some users have reported non-functional or impaired with the case installed.
All in all, an excellent case and I would certainly purchase it again.

I bought the defender case for my 12 max, after 3 months the rubber protective wrap was bulging on the back and popping off around the camera. I called and they were happy to send me a new wrap as long as I paid $7.00 shipping?? For a defect ..!?? So in order to youse your case it will cost me the purchase price and 7 bucks every 3 months to replace the poorly designed putter cover..!?? I’ll never buy another.. and that goes for the other 3 phones I have for my family also.

Horrible Product
This is my sixth OtterBox and will be my last unless the Company improves the product. I loved all of my previous OtterBox cases as they came with a screen protector that didn’t need to be glued to the phone’s screen. The entire reason I got the Otter Box for $60 was to protect my screen, but only the outside cover came, and the website was not clear that it was not included. The screen protector, another $60, was a total waste of money. The first one came all cracked as it was just put in a flat envelope without any cushion to protect during shipping. In order to get a replacement, I needed to talk to Customer Service, and it took over 40 minutes to get someone on the line. Installation of the screen protector wasn’t easy as shown in the video. The screen protector didn’t line up correctly, and every time the OtterBox case was put back on, the bubbles would appear. I pressed bubbles to the edges with the squeegee, and they were not there prior to putting the phone back in the case but will show up afterward. I had to redo it three times, and it’s not easy to take the phone out of the plastic OtterBox shell, the bubbles still appear on the screen. Horrible product, I would not recommend it to anyone!

Have bought the defender casses for last 4 iPhone, great case and protects well, the holster leaves a lot to be desired, the way the phone snaps in is OK, it's the little plastic tabs that holds it, really suck. All end up breaking wiring a couple months and you have to buy new holsters. Aftermarket ones are as good as the factory ones and a whole lot cheaper.

Defender no longer the best rugged case.
I have an IPhone 12. For the past 15 years I have only had otter box cases on my phone. The customer service was amazing, the case was top notch. I work in industrial environments and extreme weather. I need a case that can protect my phone from drops, grease, corrosives, dirt, dust and water. And still function when I need to access it. Unfortunately the “screenless” defender is the breaking point. With the old defender I could always buy a new otterbox case and replace my rubber and screen when they get too worn. I need a phone with a full seal to keep my rough fingers and dust from getting into the phone. I could really care less about the wireless charging or the gaming aspect with quick touch. Otterbox needs to continue their line for those who work in manufacturing, construction, shipping, and materials. Our company. What I and several others want from Otterbox is full phone protection, and a belt clip, this includes a screen which we can replace at ease when scratched and too dirty. Otterbox please come back to us that you have forgotten about. I can no longer refer fellows workers and family towards this specific case.

Best All-Around Protective Case
I have been searching for different types of phone cases for my iPhone 12 Pro. I just wanted something that would protect my phone and screen without being too complex. The OtterBox Defender Series has accomplished just that. I was very impressed by the durability and engineering that went behind the design of this case as it forms exactly to the phone without compromising access to any of the phone's ports or features. The only suggestion I would have is that although I would not classify this case as bulky as it is just the right balance, but I would say that the footprint of the case is larger than my previous case.

Bring back built-in screen protectors!
I’ve been using the defender cases on my phones for 10years, this is the first one without a screen protector and it’s annoying. I’ve tried a few other screen protectors in combination with the case but the case pushes the edge of the screen protector up and creates unsightly bubbles, especially at the corners. Otherwise, same ol same ol. Protects my phone well enough. Got 5 years out of my iPhone 7 thanks to the Defender, hopefully I’ll get 5 out of my iPhone 12 with these cases too.

Charging problem
I love the protection that OtterBox provides, the only problem is that I can't charge my iPhone through the back of the case. Also turning on and off the silent mode is hard if you have big fingers like I do.

THE ONE TO GET!
This purchase was my second for Otter Box. The one that I used for years on my iPhone 6S Plus provided terrific cushion for bumps and drops, fit perfectly and was easy to get on and off of its very secure belt holster.

I never purchased the defender before because the old style was bulky but this new version is much sleeker. It’s incredibly protective and the camera cut out is deep. The case itself is very grippy. I like it much better than my otter box commuter. The Aneu MagSafe case is nice as well slimmer profile but not as protective with the camera and water seeps around the phone past the rubber if wet . I highly recommend the new defender!

Like the otter box case
I have had otter boxes for my last two phone and loved them. The design was great for protecting my phone and easy access to the charging port.
This iPhone 12 plus case has fewer colors to choose from and the biggest issue is the port to charge the phone. All the other ones had the flap to charge open from the front to the back. The new one opens from the back to the front. I can see the charging access flap wearing down fast and break off.

This is not my first Otterbox defender case, but i was surprised to hear that this one did not come with the plastic screen(i bought the case for my father as i handle the cell phones for the full family). the description did not call out that it did not have it. I was disappointed and when i tried to call them i got no where. I was finally able to
"chat" with a bot online and right away my credit card was charge shipping to return the product when i really just wanted to speak with someone to understand what happened. So I not going to even waste my time since Otterbox did not care to even speak with me. and they lost a customer.
So make sure you read very carefully everything because you don't know what you will get!

Defended iPhone 12 Twice
Within 1 week of putting Defender case on my new $830 iPhone 12, I dropped phone twice onto hard surfaces, ceramic tile in kitchen and hardwood floor in bedroom. The phone works. I'm happy I bought the Otterbox case and will be more careful too.
The case allows me to use 5G network.

Wireless charging compatible is a lie
Bought this expensive case cause it advertised that it was capable of wireless charging. Then spent 70 bucks on a wireless charger. Lo and behold, could not get the wireless charging to work. To get it to work, I have to take apart the case either entirely, or the outer layer, which now makes it so that I can't press any of the buttons on the sides as they are indented an inaccessible with the gel cover off.

Solid and dependable case
This is a very good case. I used one for years with my iphone 6, and then now again with my iphone 12. Two minor "complaints" : 1 I dropped the phone in its belt holster on concrete and the holster broke - perhaps not a fair complaint, and a replacement is reasonably priced. 2) I dropped it on concrete because, the small lip on the holster belt clip which prevents the holster from being lifted up from the belt is a little to narrow, such that it doesnt really grab on to thicker belts too well. Overall, these are minor complaints, and Otter Box is an excellent company and makes an excellent product - would buy again.

iPhone 12 Pro Otterbox Defender case review
I bought this case for my iPhone 12 Pro. It is an excellent case with one exception. The Otterbox defender case for the iPhone 6s came with screen protector included. Now the screen protector is a $60 upgrade. I find a $60 screen protector for a $60 case a little over priced. Had the screen protector been $15 to $20 that would have seemed fair.

PROTECTING MY INVESTMENT
Purchased about a month ago. So far so good. Case is slimmer that I thought it would be. Less bulky the the on I purchased for my Iphone 4 and Iphone 6s. Besides being slimmer it is also missing the plastic screen protector the previous cases had. So, I will have to purchase a screen protector separate. Time will tell how the case holds up.

Effective protection affordable price
Case looks attractive but is not so bulky as to change the feel of the phone dramatically.
Included belt clip works very well and make the purchase feel like a good value.
Lack of a screen covering means you really need a separate screen protector but I don’t consider this a drawback. The last two cases I had from Lifeproof had plastic screen protection as part of the case and I never liked the feel of that. Would definitely purchase this system again.

I love this case. Have used it for years on other iPhones and it does a great job protecting my phone even when dropped out of my hand (by accident). Would definitely purchase again and would recommend to those who are "hard" on things. The only down side is I have not found a screen protector (for 12 pro) that won't bubble under this case. Still on the look out for one.

Extremely disappointed
I’ve had at least 5 defender cases over the years. While I did know this one does not have an integrated built in screen protector, I am still very disappointed that it does not. I am used to carrying my phone in my hand, purse, pocket and holster. I have already broken one screen protector in the month that I’ve had my iPhone 12. So now I have to be extremely cautious all the time. Maybe otterbox can change their mind and offer a built in screen protector. Their other brand is overkill for my needs. I am not an underwater sports person.

True Defense
I have only ever purchased Otter Box products to protect my phones for years and years, especially with kids and clumsiness (aka frequent drops), the need for a rubbery case, and overall brand reliability. Sooooo recently I left my phone on the hood of a car and forgot about it (it happens), and it ended up getting run over in the middle of our residential street. THE PHONE WAS FINE. I had the tempered glass protector on the screen and that was all cracked but the phone screen was completely protected and fine. Not a scratch. The case saw a crack here or there and there were legit tire marks on the back(!). I replaced both anyway, but man was I relieved and thrilled with the protection this case had against getting run over by a literal vehicle.

I ran over my phone with my car and had my defender series case on it. The phone and Case are absolutely fine. I have dropped my phone so many times and it is perfectly fine. This case is virtually indestructible in my opinion. Case has a nice grip to it and it is easy to access the various areas to plug things in or change the volume. The case has a lot of durability.

Ever since I have owned a phone, I have always had an OtterBox cover. And thank God that I have had one because I have dropped my phone, From great Heights, down the steps and actually left it on the roof of my car, drove away and it blew off. When I came back to get the phone, it was in perfect condition. I will never not have an OtterBox on my phone.

Like this case except for one small problem.
Minor problem when I charge the phone and open the protective cover, the bottom of the runner outer case keeps pulling out of the plastic assembly groove and has to be pushed back in.

As good as ever, alpha glass fits w/case
I was super skeptical after reading reviews. Almost went with another case based on reviews. I’ve rocked an otterbox back to the iPhone 7, and have never been disappointed. The defender for the iPhone 12 is crazy great. Less bulky then previous cases, which is a bonus.
No, there is no screen protector. Bummer. Despite other reviews, ALPHA GLASS FITS THIS CASE. Bubbles, yes. Just work them out. I just did it, took me maybe 5-10 minutes start to finish, case back on with no issues period.
Thats what actually prompted me to review...i never review stuff, but didn’t want anyone to shy away like I almost did. Everything fits; line up screen protector correctly when installing, work out bubbles (which sucks, but not hard), put in defender case, done. I’m so happy I went with my gut on this one.

It’s a better than average case
I’ve always used Otter box for my iPhone’s. I like the protection. I don’t mind the additional bulk it gives the overall profile of the phone. You get used to it and don’t notice it. It’s worth the protection. The plastic frame of the case (the part under the silicon can be a little challenging to take off at times. But, nothing that can’t be handled. I don’t like that the newer cases don’t come with screen protection. The older cases (like for an iPhone 7 Plus) came with a plastic cover for the phone. Now, you have to get a separate screen protector in addition to the Otterbox. For example, my Otterbox defender foe my iPhone 12 Pro. I have a separate screen protector film in addition to the Otterbox case. Other that the screen protector m, the cases are perfect.

Great case
I just upgraded my iPhone 6s to the 12 and man what a difference. I never thought I needed the bigger screen, but now I can’t go back. I had the fear that the robust case would then make my phone to big and chunky, but it’s not too noticeable. I’ve already dropped the phone a couple times and my otter box has protected my investment.

Trust my iPhone in a Defender Series Case
I have had my old iPhone 8 plus in the Defender case and it protected it many times. When I bought a new iPhone 12 Pro, I looked at and researched many cases and kept coming back to the Defender Series Case. I bought the Zagg screen protector that was case friendly and it works perfectly. It can be a little difficult to reach in on the side button to flip the silent on/off mode but, it's not a deal breaker. The other buttons volume, etc. were not hard to use like some have said. I love my case and trust OtterBox to protect it.

I like it but..
I like my new Otter Box case but when I put it on over the phone the screen shield I had on there lifted up and it will not longer stay completely sealed to the screen to fully protect it. I can't find anything on Otterbox about this issue. So now I have an unprotected screen.

I bought the case 1 month ago and found that it did not have a protective clear panel to protect the screen. I've had two other defender cases that had a protective screen. That is why I bought this case to protect the screen. I'm somewhat disappointed in the product because of that.

For starters, I have the iPhone 12 Pro in pacific blue. I originally had a clear case to show off the phone’s color but scratches on the case became a problem over time. I wanted to find a case that would give me top notch protection and compliment my color choice in my phone and this case certainly does both.
The case itself did not give me any issues with the screen protector already on my phone during installation at all which was easy as could be. I have not noticed any issues using it with some of my wireless charging accessories at all despite the multiple layers of the case. The door over the toggle switch to go from vibrate only to ringtone mode has presented a minor challenge as others have said but for how often I am changing this I have barely noticed the issue.
For colors, the green hard shell case inside the teal neoprene is a sort of a lime green which I think compliments the teal nicely as an accent. Looking through the camera hole on the back the blue of my phone and the teal of the neoprene look darn near identical and blend nicely.
Overall I am very satisfied with yet another Otterbox purchase.

When I dropped my phone, the 1-2 mm of space between the Otterbox and the separate screen protector cracked. Please bring back the Otterbox with the included screen protector for those who want them and without for those who don’t!

Too Thick for Wireless Charging?
I've always used OttterBox Defender series cases for my previous iPhones, but unlike previous models, this iPhone 12 case is apparently too thick to permit easy wireless charging. It has to be perfectly positioned on my Qi-certifed charger at home and will not charge on my wireless Tesla Model 3 charging pad. To compound the issue, the two OtterBox cases that might work instead, the Commuter and Symmetry series, are not yet available and in stock.

No screen protector
I know this case is going to protect my I phone but-it is not made as good as my iPhone 8 box-it’s been cheaper made with no screen protector-really!!!!! How much would it cost to add that??? This case does not have slick material like my camouflage case and gets stuck in my pocket when I try to get it out-I ordered 3 from otter box 2 teal and a pink-the pink has same material and gets stuck in pocket also! It’s still a good case but feel for the price and not that much money in materials-plastic and rubber -screen protectors should be included-notice otter box sells them separate-really!!!

Don't Plan On Using Your Magnetic Charger
I would not buy it again. Does not work with the iPhone 12 magnetic charger. Both my wife and I tried to use it with our new phones and magnetic charger . It would not work with the Otterbox cover.

Boy this case saved my phone
Yea it did not do it alone I had a temper glass shield with it that my cell provider provides. I dropped it in the middle of the road a busy main road. When I noticed it I had to stand there and jest watch it get hit after hit until I could get it when the cross guard said so the case looks terrible around the screen but the phone that it was protecting looks still new except dust but that was probably not from the incident

Fixed What Wasn’t Broken
I’m not sure why Otterbox changed the design of the defender, but it was a mistake. I don’t care about the screen protector not being part of it, I actually prefer that so I can use a glass one. The slimming down of the case made it terrible. Squeaks and doesn’t even fit together. It felt like it was going to break when I was putting the plastic frame around my iPhone 12. It also didn’t snap together with my phone inside so the fit was terrible. I know two people who had the defender for an iPhone X and XR and those cases are the normal defender. They fit nicely and provide protection well; they aren’t this slimmed down piece of flimsy junk. Also the fact Otterbox charges for return shipping is disgusting and outdated.

Im a pretty big otterbox fan but this is brutal. This case is made of probably 3 cents of material. Like a double ply rubber that started pulling apart after a week. They started out strong but me and all my guys at work will probably never buy OB again.

My wife and I are Harley riders. I have a iPhone 12 Pro with the defender case on it. Today while out for a long ride the phone fell out of the faring of my motorcycle bounced off the ground and then flew through the air before coming to rest on the side of the road. Other than a few scratches in the case the phone was intact and working properly. What else can I say

Adequate protection, installation difficult
The case seems to provide good protection. It was difficult to put on my iPhone, mainly because of poor instructions. The illustrations did not clearly show separating the case parts and the softer outer part was stuck on the inner hard portion. Better pictures and verbal descriptions would have helped a great deal.

Perfect protective case for my new iPhone 12
I’ve been using Otterbox for years now (commuter,etc. I was a little hesitant to get the Defender for my new iPhone, because I thought it might be too bulky and overkill. I’m so glad I went ahead and tried it, it exudes quality, has a great feel to the materials, and adds just the right amount of “heft”. For me I can’t imagine a better case for this phone.

Poor design for iPhone 12
Every iPhone Otterbox I've purchased previously i.e. iPhone 7 and earlier... the defender case has a built-in screen protector. However, the iPhone 12 defender case no longer has a screen protector. This is a serious design flaw in my opinion since the screen is much more vulnerable to damage. The engineering of the defender case should have been designed to include a necessary screen protector. Now I have to go and purchase an aftermarket clear screen protector that will be less safe For my screen than my previous defender cases because of this I cannot give high marks for the iPhone 12 Defender case.

Unbelievably tough
Accidentally left iPhone 12 Pro on my car, drove away. It fell off on a road that cars drive around 60km per hour. I picked it up off the road thinking the phone would have been toast. There were tire tracks on the back of the Otterbox and the bottom was cracked with scratches around rim. One little scratch on the side of the iPhone. This product saved me $1500.

This shiz is the best. It feels really grippy in your hand. Really easy to use you phone one handed because of that. My partner has a life proof and she always drops it because it has no grip and can’t use it one handed. Plus mine looks way cooler. It was easy to use and I have absolutely no complaints. I would get this case if I were you. Don’t even look around cause it’s the best deal for what you get. Lifeproof is way over priced and sucky.

The case does well enough to protect against drops and impacts, but it sucks that my less than a year old phone has scratches on the screen from the lack of a built in screen protector. I know you can add one, but they bubble/look terrible. Price of case should go down if you’re going to remove great features

The case Protects the phone well. The only disappointment from my last otter case was this one does not protect the face of the phone. You have to spend an additional $50 to get the face protected. Which doubles the price of the case.

Hurts Hands
It’s really too clunky to be comfortable for my hands, which are on the smaller side. Also, whatever it’s made out of (synthetic rubber/plastic?? turns my hands red — I think I’m allergic to it. Had used Commuter in the past and wish I’d purchased it again instead. ://

Same great quality
I’ve used an OtterBox for my iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone 6+, iPad Air, iPod Touch, and now my iPhone 12 Pro. I have never had any damage to any of those devices and keep getting compliments about how all of the devices look like new. I would not consider using anything else. Just wish they offered more color combinations where you could mix and match without paying an up charge.

Protecting my investment!
When I purchased my iPhone 12, I immediately sent off for an Otterbox Defender for it as well. I wanted the same rugged, reliable protection that kept my iPhone X in great shape the whole time I had it, and got me the maximum refund when it came time to trade it in. My Defender arrived the same day as my new iPhone, and I'm pleased to see the same quality and attention to detail that I have come to expect from Otterbox products.
As a recently-retired airline pilot, I can say that Otterbox has been protecting my phones from the hazards of international travel and daily life since the iPhone 5, and I plan to keep it that way for the forseeable future!

iphone 12 case
this is my 2nd case from otter, as with the other i like the feel and lightness of it. color is good but i wish they would have made a clear otter defender so could see color of the iphone it self. also would have liked a screen saver with this one like the last but ill just buy some from them

Otterbox protection
The case fits great on my new iPhone 12. I have always bought Otterboxes for our iPhones because the protection is awesome. I spend way too much on these phones to worry about them getting broken. With Otterbox, we haven't broken a phone yet. My last phone that had an Otterbox on it got ran over by a pickup truck and it didn't break. Amazing! Will continue to purchase the Otterbox for the great protection! Thanks!

I miss the old one!
I hate this case. I've had a Defender for all my iPhones since the 5. Always an amazing case. I usually would pop the plastic out and have a glass protector installed. Personal preference. With THIS case (iPhone 12 pro, my screen protector bubbles like crazy. I feel like the case needs to be re-made with wider dimensions. One disappointed Otter fan here

I swear by Otterbox cases
I have always used Otterbox cases for my iphones over the years. I currently have a soft rubber grip Defender case on my 12 Pro and it has held up well except for one important issue. The flexible soft rubber piece that covers the charging port is torn to the point that it may fall off soon. This is a big issue because I have to have the charging port protected. I always gently use products that I purchase to protect my investment and insure that they last as long as possible, so I was surprised to find this unfortunate issue since I never had it happen with any other Otterbox case that I had over the years, so it was odd that I am having this problem now. I still stand by Otterbox cases, but I am unfortunately going to have to bite the bullet and replace it soon due to this issue.

Better than very cheap case but not foolproof
I’ve used Otterbox cases for years, so when I upgraded to the IPhone 12 PRO a year ago, I bought a new Otterbox to go with it. The case is a bit clunky but that’s the supposed tradeoff for protection. Unfortunately, I did drop my phone face down on a flat surface and the screen shattered. Was a $300 bill from Apple to replace the phone screen. The Otterbox has a raised lip around the screen, but this appears to not have protected the phone. I’ve added a glass screen protector to try to prevent another shatter in the future. Besides this, I’ve noticed that the rubber is peeling back a lot from the plastic part of the case when installing the case. Once the phone is in place, this issue resolves. The narrow bit of plastic above the charging port has also cracked. Overall I’m sure my phone is more protected with the case than without. But you could probably get a similar case online without the brand name for less that performs the same.

This case not only failed to protect the back of my iphone12 it physically falling apart the side button has failed the actual case itself is cracked not even a year old

Defender Series
I have purchased several defender series for my iPhone 5 thru 12. Each one has provided the excellent protection to my phone as advertised. Through five different phones, none have ever been damaged during the course of my construction career. On the Defender case for the 12, I wanted to be able to use the MagSafe charger. What I didn't know is that this particular case does not come with a belt holster (clip, so I was forced to order another Defender style that included a holster. I will continue to use my Defender case with the holster, but wish OtterBox would make a holster for the MagSafe case.

Otterbox Defender is the Only Case for Iphones
We are an Otterbox family. The Defender is the best, especially if you are prone to dropping your phone.
There was one time my husband accidentally dropped his phone in the rain. He ran over it twice with our car. He later found it still protected safely in the Otterbox Defender. The case was scuffed up but the phone was protected safely.

Had the same case for my previous phone so, that's why I bought this one. It's a great product and I just wasn't going to buy anything different if possible. Can't see why when its case with camouflage pointed out why it would ever be an issue with any outside activity. Then there's the fact you can also be hands free if needed because, of the clip on case gives you that feature too. I would recommend Otter Box products to anyone. It just so happens I love my other Realtree so much, I stuck with it.

Lip around screen is not adequate
I understand the decision to forgo the screencover -- this definitely allows for a better user experience. What I do not understand is why Otterbox did not design a lip surrounding the screen that raises 3 - 3.5 mm above the screen surface. This is the design used on previous Commuter cases, and which afforded excellent screen protection (with no built-in screen protector. If the concern was that the raised edge might interfere with fine editing at the screen border, the 3 mm lip could have been graded down from the outer edge to the current 1mm-high lip on the long edges of the cover. Another concern is that the current lip consists largely of hard plastic in direct contact with the hard glass screen. With the earlier Commuter, nowhere was the glass screen in direct contact with rigid plastic. Rather, the screen was first protected by a thick, shock-absorbing layer of rubber, which was reinforced and held in place by a hard-plastic outer shell. I am not convinced that the current Defender design is very protective of the screen. The screen deserves a lip that's just as protective as the lip around the rear multi-camera assembly.

Best purchase for a phone case.
I bought this iPhone 12 Otterbox Defender series last fall, along with my new phone. I love it. The security of knowing that just in case I drop it, I'll have no worries. Sturdy & yet very comfortable for daily use.

Love the feel of the case in my hand
I had an OtterBox case for my 6S, and it lasted two years before the charging flap finally fell off. I use it hard, in dusty environments, so I knew I needed one for my 12. I love the feel of it in my hand--it seems to be a non-slip material, which is great for me. The only issue was trying to get a screen protector to fit. There is still an air bubble in one corner, but I can live with that.

Could Be Better!!
I loved the old otter box and it prompted me to buy another. However, the new one in the Defender is screenless. Purchased a separate screen protector but when you put the case on, the screen bubbles. Otter box needs a built in screen protector. Can’t live without one. !

All my previous iPhones had OtterBox cases and never disappointed, fits perfect the iPhone 12 pro , looks good and feels great when holding. I wish it was easier to take it down if needed but not a big deal. You can’t use it with MagSafe, phone doesn’t charge through the case , again not a big deal, protection is more important. Trusted brand, strongly recommend it.

I purchased this for my dad thinking it was the old defender case the was fully enclosed, but when I called support they said they no longer make it. :( But it still was a GREAT case if you like that full protection!!!

Very disappointing
I purchased this new case at shoppers drug mart in Vancouver within the past six months.
I just happened to detach this case and noticed my back panel was cracked badly. Then I checked the case but case was okay.
So…
Otter box defender case
Pros : heavy duty. Won’t crack that easily.(still depends on how you use)
Cons : the impact may go through the case and directly damage your phone without damaging the case.
I’ve had zero opportunity to take my otter box off my phone since I purchased so I’m100% sure I had the case on when I got these cracks on my phone (although I don’t know when)

Not as protective as previous design
Bought 2 for my kids to protect their new phones and selected Otterbox due to how happy I was with defender case for my husband’s Xs Max. The new 12 case is sleeker in design, but only beveled at the top and bottom, and pretty flat at the sides. One kid dropped his phone flat on the face and cracked the screen shield I placed on it, which will already need replacement.
Not the protection I was hoping to get unfortunately. Please rethink the design.

Doesn’t fit well with screen protector
I bought the iPhone 12 pro defender case a month ago. I was disappointed that there were very few colour options compared with years past. The design is pretty sleek and it feels nice in your hand. It also shipped ridiculously quickly over the holidays. I’m not sure how well it will protect the screen from cracks as the lip around the screen edge is very shallow. My biggest issue with this case is that it does not work well with the screen protector. I got the amplify Pro iPhone 12 glass screen protector from Otterbox to go along with the case but the two do not fit together. The edge of the case is constantly causing the edge of the screen protector to pop off. They are not really designed well to be used together which is disappointing.

Also I had questions when looking to buy a case and no one was available. I even tried
The virtual helper and no one or thing was available. For $60 it should have come with a screen protector. I had to pay $39 for a screen protector. Not empresses

Finally Fixed a Long-standing Annoyance!
The iPhone 10 Pro Defender and iPhone 11 Pro Defender cases ( and ones before had stiff rubber over all the side buttons, making them very hard to depress (and hold). The new iPhone 12 Pro case has fixed this, and the buttons are now easy to push. Yay!

Amazing Case but screen protectors bubble
Most protective case I’ve owned. Not too bulky. I’m having trouble finding a screen protector to fit as they all bubble around the edges. Will contact customer service for suggestions.

Poor Quality Control and No One Cares!
This is a replacement case for another defender case that lasted only one week. The original case had a raised plastic bump on the belt holster that retained the phone in the holster. The plastic bumps broke off within a week and the phone could no longer be retained in the holster. I could not get int touch with anyone at Otterbox because of limited phone hours. I did order a warranty replacement through the website but was charged shipping even though the phone case was defective. I am sorry, but I cannot recommend your company's products and I will not buy from you again.

It Really Defends!
I highly recommend this case. Not only works great, but quality and and protection of this product, in my opinion is the best I could find in the market. I’ve been using the Defender Case Series to protect my mobile devices for many years. So far it I haven’t been disappointed.

Great case, Saved Phone!
I bought this case right after I got my new iPhone 12 pro since I work in construction and wanted the best protection for my phone. Last week I dropped my phone about 15 feet onto concrete from a scissor lift. Got off the lift and checked it and the case and phone were in perfect condition. I strongly recommend this case.

Great product, but where is the front plastic?
As usual, I swear by Otter box products. I work in the oil field and my phone takes tumbles, drops and smacks on occasion. So why not get the best phone case on the market. The only problem I have is that the front plastic is gone from the phone case. I feel that if this is a heat issue, there may be something additionally wrong with your phone. I recommend the case but don’t like the new style.

No screen Case!
I’m in a wheelchair, and only have one working functioning NUMB hand, which is why I’ve ALWAYS gone with the defender! This one has no screen protection. I drop my phone at LEAST 5xs a day if not more, not to mention accidentally running it over with my chair. I loved the old design. Maybe with all these suggestions, you’ll finally listen to the customers so I don’t need a new case as often!

I feel really secure with how protected my phone is by this case, the silicone being on the outside of the case makes for a better grip than the old defender styles that had the silicone on the inside, the one downside to this is that if you use a pop socket or other grip accessory that attaches with an adhesive it won’t work with this case, I had to buy an additional accessory from pop socket to use one on this case. Additionally better coverage around the cameras might be nice, rather than just having the case create a recessed pocket over the cameras maybe a fitted covering around the camera would be better.

I am very happy with my cover. Much slimmer than the old style. It didn’t come with a screen protector but I was able to grab one from Amazon. I don’t mind that it is not MagSafe because I like the rubbery feel of this one and the camera protection it offers.

I have always had an Otter box on my iPhones. I am a bit taken back that it no longer has the screen protector. Over I give it thumbs up. a military grade cover is a must for me. Used them throughout my Army career.

Charging with Defender Plus
I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max with an Otterbox Defender Plus. Initially it did not work charging on a Anker Wireless Charger, PowerWave 7.5 Stand. I verified that it was the Defender by taking off the rubber case and placing it on an Anker Wireless Stand/Cradle and it worked. I had bought the Anker Charger, previously, for my iPhone XR and worked flawless with it's Otterbox Defender Plus Case. So, I just expected that I would just use the Apple Lighting Cable for charging. Since Anker Cradle was just sitting there, I turned my iPhone upside down and placed it in the cradle, The charging light turned green. I disconnected the lighting charger and it is still charging on the cradle. So, it's not elegant, but it works.

Best Otter Box case I have had, of many
I bought this case because I have had good experiences with other Otter Box cases in the past. I had my previous iPhone X for 2.5 years in an Otter Box case and was able to trade that phone in for its full used value. The new Otter Box I have for my iPhone 12 Pro fits very well and appears to be very rugged, so I am ready for another 2.5 years.

Protective and great color
I purchased the defender case in Berry Potion for my new iPhone 12. I love the color. It's very rich and not flashy. The case is very durable and protective of my new purchase. The only thing that I don't love is that all openings are covered such as the mute button and charging point. This just means I have to open those every time to access them. It's not a deal breaker for me but I would have been happier without extra protection in those areas. I also had to go online to find a video to know how to install the case. The video was excellent if you need help.

Reliable case
I only buy otter box cases. I had the old defender case and dropped my phone many times and it was in pristine shape when I traded it in. I am hoping this new version will be just as sturdy. I do appreciate that it is less bulky and I much prefer having a glass screen cover to the plastic of the old case.

Love the beautiful berry color and so easy to put on! The Defender series gives me peace of mind as it fully protects my investment. It is still relatively low profile too so it easily fits in my smaller purses too.

The best cases ever
Every time I buy a new phone, I insist on buying an Otterbox Defender specifically. They are hands-down the best cases to truly protect your phone. I am clumsy and drop my phone all the time. I've *knock on wood* NEVER had any damage to my phone because I protect it with this case. The Defenders are by far the most rugged, most truly protective cases and worth every penny. Even though I use my phone a lot and beat it to heck, I typically only have to buy a case once for each phone, even if I hang onto it for three or four years like I did with the last one. One note for possible improvement: I wish you could choose to buy the phone without the big plastic belt clip or with it. I never use the clip, I don't need it, and I always feel very wasteful just throwing it out.

Love the Otterbox Defender
I had the Defender for my past phone. There was no question I would get another when I purchased my new phone. The hard part was deciding which one, black or Real Tree Edge. I went with the Real Tree and have no regrets.

Only Otterbox for Us
We’ve only used Otterbox for our iPhones and have never been disappointed. After upgrading from an iPhone 8 to a 12Pro, it was a surprise that the new cases do not have an integrated screen protector. The salesperson at the phone store applied a separate glass screen protector when we purchased our new phones...he made it look easy, but I think we would’ve struggled a bit on our own. The combination seems to be working great so far, but I cannot comment on its durability. We’ve never suffered so much as a crack with our Otterboxes before, so I trust that this is a quality product, too.

Just purchased my Defender Series Case for my iPhone 12. I’ve had the Commuter Series for years and years and chose to move to the Defender for the extra protection. The plastic “frame” snapped as I was trying to install it. The plastic part is different from the plastic that was on my Commuter case and it seems so much more fragile! All in all the case once installed seems like it will protect my phone. I had my iPhone 6 forever and the Commuter kept it brand new through my drops and bangs. I’m also not thrilled that I have a pretty berry case with a black cover/clip. Wish you color coordinated it...

I have owed several otter box defender cases they always came with screen protection but not this one but your ad sure looks like it has one and the belt hold falls out of my pocket all the time and the phone pops out with just a touch the holder seams like a cheap knock off.

Almost perfect!
All it needs is a line of bright Orange around it. My old one was like that and it made it so easy to find at a glance. I would have given it five stars if it had that. I used that old case from the day I bought my iPhone 6. I actually broke the case but my phone was fine. Six years later I have bought an iPhone 12 and would not go without an otterbox case for it.

I’ve owned several Otterbox phone cases and found them to be a good quality product. This particular model for the iPhone 12, I found very difficult to install on the phone. It was extremely tight fitting.

I purchased a iPhone 12 and purchased this cover for it. However the iPhone 12 does offer wireless charging (MagSafe accessory) and I only became aware after that this cover it is not MagSafe compatible. Call mee we DISAPPOINTED !

A downgrade from the previous case
The case is great but is not compatible with the glass screen cover I placed on my IPhone 12. Once the case is installed, bubbles develop on the screen. When the Defender had the built in screen cover, there were no problems like this. Your engineers erred when they changed the design.

Never had damages to phone using DEFENDER
In all the many years we've used the defender we have never had any damages to any of our phones, including my son who skateboards. I just bought the one for iPhone 12 that doesn't come with a screen protector, a little worried but time will tell if this one is just as protective as all the others have been.

Every phone in my household has this case
Every phone I have in my household has this case...several years ago, I accidentally left my phone on the back of my truck that had this case. Once I realized I had done so (which was an hour an a half later I tracked my phone to it location which was in the middle of a heavily traffic area. Much to my surprise the phone had survived being run over by passing cars but the case had to be replaced...I immediately replaced my case and all of the cases in my household because I knew for a fact that they would be protected. Great job Otterbox!! Customer for life.

My favorite case
After trying a few different cases for my iPhone X, I bought the Otterbox Defender and loved it. When I upgraded to the iPhone 12 pro I tried a few different cases but wasn't happy with any of them. Decided to spend the money for another Defender case and am glad I did. Right away I knew it was what I was looking for. After using it for a few weeks I still feel the same. The grip is comfortable, it's not too heavy or bulky, the covered port and switch are a big plus and are easy to work with. I feel confident that my iPhone is well protected and that piece of mind is worth every penny.

Not as Good as Previous Versions
The case is much sleeker than previous versions which is nice with an iPhone 12 Pro. Not having a screen protector built in was a slight retraction but I have always loved the quality of Otterbox and chose to get a Defender again. The plastic cover is SO flimsy. Mine has already cracked which has never happened with other versions. The plastic inner housing as always held. Not so with this version.

What a Lifesaver
This is the 5th. Otterbox case I have purchased and could not be happier.
I recently purchased a brand new I phone 12 pro with the Otterbox Defender case. I literally had my new phone a day with the Otter box case and dropped it on a grocery market store floor.
Once again, the case literally saved me from disaster, since the phone cost $1,109.
I would DEFINITELY recommend you purchase the Otter case to protect your I phone, or any other phones.

Not compatible w/ all Qi wireless charging systems
I recently upgraded my phone and case (previous otterbox case to an iPhone 12 mini and Defender Pro case. It clearly called out wireless charging compatible, however, upon receiving my new phone and case, the new case will not allow charging via my 2020 Toyota's Qi charging station. Ironically, my previous phone and otterbox case worked perfectly fine on said Qi charging station.
I know it is the case because i took off the new case on placed my iPhone 12 Mini on the Qi charging bed successfully.
Lack of testing let to an inferior product. Not good Otterbox.

Purchased about a month ago. Unlike my case for my previous phones this one does not provide much protection against moisture or screen damage. The front of case is just a plastic ring to hold phone into back piece. Needs improvement so screen will have protection.

A very good case. In fact I had a Defender for my previous iPhone but this one has much better protection.
The only issue I see with it although very minor is it’s a little difficult to take off the case if you want to service the phone.
It’s on there fairly securely but I guess that’s a good thing!

these cases are great for what they're intended for, a very rugged case for active people who need maximum protection. however it does have a couple cons that I have encountered. after about 3 months of having this case on my phone (I put the case on immediately after purchase I took the case off to do some cleaning and found the phone to have a surprising amount of dust and debris built up, resulting in lots of scratchesamoung the metal band surrounding the phone.

Best Otter Box Yet
I'm a General Contractor. I need maximum protection, I buy the Defender. I also like keeping a slimmer case, a Symmetry for church on Sundays. I traded my iPhone 10R for a new 12 PRO and needed new cases. I ordered both. After seeing and using the newly designed Defender, I'm returning the Symmetry. I haven't taken it out of the box. This Defender in ALMOST as small as my old Symmetry case.

I'm in construction and need something to protect the phone from drops, dust, and splatters that occur everyday. It doesn't just protect, it also makes the phone easier to handle and pick up off a flat surface.
Only thing I don't care for is the access to the mute switch. You will need tiny fingers or stick to activate it.

Great drop protection. But 3rd party stick on screen protectors are too big because the case slightly covers the 4 edges of the screen. I assume the $50 Otterbox screen protector would fit well. Still hunting for alternatives

I bought this otterbox for the 12 pro and am a little disappointed. I have always sworn by otterboxes for my iPhone bc of the level of protection they offer. The new cases no longer come w a built in screen protector which I’m not a fan of. I tried buying a protector from a different website but the size is not compatible with the case. Otterbox sells glass screen protectors but for a extremely steep price. Overall, I am content w the case but I do not think I will purchase another otterbox due to the screen protector issue.

Let me start by saying I’ve trusted Otterbox with every cellphone I’ve had for the past 8 years. The Defender Series has saved my phone’s life so many times.
This one for the iPhone 12 Pro isn’t bad. It’s much slimmer than Defender Cases in the past. I wish the ridges or bumper were a bit deeper where the screen is. The one for the iPhone XS was much deeper and I felt comfortable if my phone fell face down. Now I’m kind of scared that if the 12 pro fell face down, it could potentially crack the screen since it’s so thin.
I’ve paired it with the otterbox blue light screen protector. It fits perfects.
I hope they come out with a defender series with the built in pop socket. It would be super convenient for those of us with small hands and larger phones.

Defending the Defender!
Rugged yet slim. Protective yet not limiting. Functional without also being gaudy! This Otter Box like it’s predecessor, protects your phone from you the user, in preventing damage to the phone. I don’t know about you, but I drop my phone likely once a week, and in all of the years, I have used Otter Box Defender series cases, I have never had a damaged phone. Why would you not protect your expensive investment so that you do not have the inconvenience and added cost of having to replace the phone. Otter Box also has a great warranty!

Only 1 concern
I love Otterbox. My phone is always in one. I only have one concern. I’m a little nervous that there is no shield covering the screen. Yes, I know all about it being unnecessary but in my world things can and do happen. Every phone I’ve ever had was in perfect condition when I upgraded. I’m hoping that will still be the case. The price is a little high to not have screen protection.

Why did Otterbox get rid of the screen protector?
I have used the defender series for years, and now I am regretting upgrading from my iPhone 8 to a 12 Pro because the 12 Pro case does not have a screen protector. My phone screen already has a small scratch, something that didn’t happen in over four years with my old phones and Otterbox cases.

I Ran Over My Phone
Okay, so...today was just an awful no good, very bad day! I hopped up in my big Jeep Wrangler and my phone must have slid off my lap onto the parking lot at work. Unknowingly, I took off to move my vehicle to a closer parking spot. I RAN OVER MY PHONE!!! I searched frantically in the Jeep looking for it and even went back inside my work place to see if I’d left it there. I then realized I must have dropped it in the parking lot. I did the short drive of shame to go see if it was there and what was left of it. To my surprise, it was indeed and had been ran over. *yikes*! I picked it up and upon first observation, the screen looked mutilated. I got back into the Jeep to do more investigation. To my surprise, I was able to peel back the glass shield on my screen to reveal a perfectly intact screen! *whew* But, I felt like this was too good to be true, so I took the case off to fully observe the bare phone. It was perfect. I can say, the Otter Box plus the glass shield is apparently tough enough to be ran over. Great product!

Defender Saved my Phone Twice
I’ve been using the Otterbox Defender for several years now to protect all of my iPhones, and I would never consider using any other phone case. The Defender has saved my phone on two separate occasions. The older ones were a bit clunky, but the new one is slimmer, which I like better.
My only complaint is that there are hardly any colors to choose from for the Defender, and I don’t really like any of the colors that are available, and it’s always been that way. But, I still use it, though, because of the protection it provides. The lack of color options is the reason for a four star rating, instead of five.

Solids case and good clip
This case protects my phone really well, looks nice, and feels comfortable in my hand. The belt clip gives me a place to carry the phone. My one complaint is that when locking the phone in, it pops back slightly which makes it momentarily feel like it's not in properly. But there's something you get used to.

Always liked the Defender case for my iphone, and just bought this for my 12 Pro. But one of my favorite features, the integral screen protector (which is why I bought the Defender originally is, for some reason, no longer available. I purchased their screen protector separately, but it's more expansive buying both, and it doesn't look as great as the older version.

My previous iPhone was a 6S and the OtterBox kept it in great condition despite many accidental drops. The look and feel of my new OtterBox is great and the protection continues as it has been dropped as well. Their customer service is outstanding as well. When a belt clip was broken, it was replaced free of charge.

The rubber on this case feels super. It feels like a tire wrapped around my phone. The pattern on the back looks durable so it won’t fade or scratch off. The back is nicely padded and had a smooth feel. The buttons all work perfectly. I don’t think this case will work with the magsafe wireless charger. The clip on belt holster is secure and functions as a stand. Holster itself holds the phone both ways so you can protect your screen with it. Missed the mark with no MagSafe compatibility.

Extremely well built. Inner hard plastic layer sandwiches your phone while soft rubber outer protects it from shocks. Have dropped my phone dozens of times and my child gets a hold of it all the time, tossing it around. No damages.

Great protection.
Great protection, belt clip backing can be used on front to protect screen, when used on back of phone it’s protects camera. Its black clips are weak but otherwise I have always had good experience using otter box products.

Great case but issues with screen savers
My husband had this case on his iPhone 8. When he upgraded to the 12 Pro we purchased another one to fit his new phone. The redesigned case does not have a front screen. The Verizon rep made us aware and we ordered the amplify glass screen saver. The edge of the glass pulled away everytime we put the case on. I called Otterbox and they sent another glass screen saver and that one also pulled away from the phone when the case was put on. Disappointed in the redesign.

It’s a puzzle to install (my 1st time —must definitely follow visual instructions (which are very good!)— and once installed you’ll see that it feels perfect in your hand and you’ll never worry again about dropping your iPhone 12 Pro. (Only downside is that MagSafe doesn’t work, but I can live without that.)
I previously had an Apple clear case and it just didn’t feel right in my hand, which I attributed to the extra weight and size of my new phone and started having buyers remorse, but after getter the Defender case I *love* my new phone. It feels just right!

Fit my iphone 12pro right. Like that it makes the phone thicker which makes it easier to hold. I have accidently drop the phone on various surfaces including concrete from a height of 4-5ft and no damage what so ever. Only downside is the belt clip. That usually breaks right before the warrantee expires.

I recently upgraded the clear protective Otterbox to the Defender series in blue. The phone protector is attractive, it's not bulky, and most importantly, it works. It was expensive but when you figure in the cost of replacing a screen or phone, it is well worth the cost.

This is my first Otterbox phone case, i was happy to receive it however, i didn't know about the clip being a separated piece, the description for the case wasn't clear enough to me.
