The screen cover is not non glare making the screen impossible to see in sunlight. It scratches over time and will need to be replaced in 2-3 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For Real Phone Protection, Demand only Otterbox I used the Otterbox on my old iphone SE (!), my work phone for thirteen years. Out of all the drops, scrapes and tumbles the phone went through, I never had a broken screen or a broken case. I was given an iphone 6 when my wife upgraded her phone, and ordered a case online. The ad said it was an Otterbox, but when it came it wasn't an Otterbox but a cheap knock-off. I put it on the phone anyway figuring some protection would be better than none. The next day I dropped the phone and the screen cracked! Since I carried insurance on the phone, I sent it in, but it was old enough that they subbed it for an iphone 8. When I knew the model, I ordered a real Otterbox case. I've used it for three or four months, and no breaks or even scratches.

I’ve had this case for about 2 years. It’s a soldier to say the least. Yesterday, I was painting a warehouse floor. I was dealing with insane chemicals with epoxy floor. Hours later, I couldn’t find my phone. Thought someone must have stole it. Turns out, it was at the bottom of the epoxy bucket. And man, my phone is still very much alive and totally okay!!!! This otter box saved my phone! Just out here waiting to rep otterbox with a new one. I’ve told about 30 people about this experience so you’ll be making some skrilla!

I prefer to keep my stuff looking good because that’s the way I like it. My iPhone 8 is not the best or fanciest one but it’s my and it’s paid for. So keeping it protected and looking good will extend the time I have to enjoy it.

The clear cover on the front is good, but I have a hard time with the outside part of the screen. The cover is loose and so it is hard to use the touchscreen on anything closer to to the edge. Overall, for my first Otterbox it's not bad

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tried others; now back to the Otterbox Defender I tried a few other cases, some recommended by the Apple techs, and even tried a different Otterbox (not as rugged). Two cracked screens later, I have returned to the Otterbox Defender. I used it for years and never quite realized how much it protected my phone until I used other brands and styles. I drop my phone a lot because I use it all day long out in the field, and the other cases did not protect my phone. Otterbox Defender does! My only recommendation, if you're listening Otterbox designers, is that you make one just like this, but without close tabs on the volume and charge ports. Those tabs ended up falling off because I use them so much. I meet with clients on and off all day, so turn off the volume regularly, and I'm on my phone a lot, so I need to charge it a few times a day. Other than that, this case is excellent!

My concern is that it will, in time, break off from opening it to access the charger.

It makes my iPhone 8 Plus feel so secure in my hand--it is well balanced however I hold it. My Defender is sturdy and well made. I was a little concerned that the protective surface over the front of the phone would impair finger swipes and taps. Not so--it conveys my finger's commands effortlessly--such that I'd never know there was a surface on top of the phone's glass. The bonus is that my Otterbox is attractive. I reviewed multitudes of protective cases and though it seemed like the Otterbox Defender would do a good job of protecting my phone, from the pictures it looked clunky and functional and it seemed a compromise to put my beautiful iPhone in that industrial looking case! I was pleasantly surprised at how nice my phone looks in the case. I was willing to sacrifice function for looks but I didn't have to--I got both a nice looking case and the protection I was after.

Having the Otter Box makes me feel more secure about using my phone due to its good construction and the strong likelihood that it will protect against breakage should I drop the phone. It does make the phone look bigger than it really is and it appears now to be a tad clunky versus sleek but to be protective I understand and appreciate that that's the deal. I am disappointed that the purple color I bought has light purple trim. Although a minor detail, I just don't like it. I wish that it was simply solid purple. Overall the idea is that I am protecting my iPhone investment and feel good about this purchase.

I’ve dropped the phone several times and the phone stays safe. There is layers of protection it’s really like having two cases. The only thing I would change is 1.lower the price or just buy on amazon where these are half the price but colors are very limited on amazon 2. The plastic cover on the front of does not touch the phone screen causing you to push hard on the cover to text or dial a phone number not saved. I have always had Otterbixes and loved them, but this one does not meet my expectations.

The delivery was quick and responsive (from Canada (?) to Helsinki, Finland in just a matter of five days). The actual product is perfect. Even though I haven’t ”tested” throwing my phone to the ground (who would?), it seems super durable and protective and suits my needs perfectly (having cracked every other Apple product I ever owned). The only minus point is with actually applying the phone into the case. Had to watch a youtube video for that! But once its in I have no worries it would come out if it fell from my pocket or from some other higher point. Its a bit bulcky but beats any other silicone case or leather case (with cover) that I have had before. Three really firm layers, the best part being the silicone uplift which assures no contact with the screen if dropped flat on the screen. 5/5, will keep this brand and product in mind in the future as well!

I was a bit hesitant to take it anywhere, it would stay in my locker at work, I would avoid leaving it all over my home with hardwood floors, etc...So I got the Otter box Defender. I had an otter box on my last phone, so I already had some expectations and confidence. The Defender was instant peace of mind, I feel my phone is safe unless some pointy object hits it just right. The case is bulkier than many other choices and it adds some weight to my phone...but really my phone was already heavy. With that little extra bulk comes the feeling of security. This case feels tough. The case wraps the phone nicely, front and back. The screen gets an overwrap that doesn't seem to interfere with touch screen use and the case is raised by a few millimeters, so a falling on the floor won't touch the screen. All of the plugins or buttons have been accommodated for, with either a foldy flap, raised button or designed cutout. There is an unnecessary cut out on the back of the case which allows you to view the apple logo for those who like to see that. Also, I imagine that if you were going to use the wireless charging feature of the iPhone 8 plus, you would need to take the phone out of the case to charge. I suppose that would be a hassle, but I plug in so not a complaint of mine. Overall I am super satisfied about this choice. I have confidence about this phone getting in a few incidents and surviving without any problems. It has worked out great for me. Any issues that I thought I had with the extra size, disappeared immediately with use. It's just right.

There’s is no need to upgrade phones because it has been perfectly protected. Yet, the otter box coverings sustained immense beatings and became filthy and grimy over time. I went two weeks without an Otterbox. Ridiculous. How people walk around without one, broke screens, slimy phones - I can not even imagine. Hence, no hesitation finally purchasing another. Now, it’s back to normal. Lesson learned: Do not wait to purchase another otter box covering.

I have set my fingerprint three times to unlock because it just stops recognizing my thumb and I have to make multiple tries to enter unlock code or other touch screen things because the phone is not registering my touch as it should. Also the volume control buttons are very hard to push. The Defender case works great to protect my phone when I drop it but it allows dust and dirt to get in.

It took two hands to return the phone to the most of the time! You had to place the bottom of the phone to the rear first and then push the phone towards your body to get it to latch. It almost never seated the first time. It never seemed to want to lock in! I bought the new Otterbox and just like my last one, it fed into the carrier from the top. I have yet to have a problem trying to return it to the case. Again, a great product!

Although I ordered the Defender case for the new 7 Plus iPhone, tracking showed it to be shipped soon after ordering. This was frustrating as I ordered early to get the case before the iPhone delivery. Secondly, it seems like the case is a tiny bit larger than the physical phone and thus getting the side buttons depressed takes some effort (did not have this issue with my previous iPhone using the same style of case).

It was a defender case and have never looked at or even pondered using another phone case as this one has saved my phone SOOO many times. I have dropped it on it's edge, face, side and on the back and have had no damage to my phone. The only draw back that I can currently see with the Iphone 8Plus case is that the screen does not sit as tight onto the phone and it is like there is a small bubble. This might interfere with some typed messages but I am not sure. My husband uses the same kind of case and I have recommended this case to my family and friends.

The only thing is that the Apple logo isn’t centered in the middle of the cutout circle. Not a big deal, just annoying that they could have moved it down a few millimeters to make it centered and didn’t. I’m happy with this product.

And I didn't regret that decision, it kept my phone from any damages. After 3 years my phone still looks brand new. I recommended it to my family with iPhone 6s and they love it. But then the Galaxy S7 Edge came out I purchased it as a gift and was told that there is a gap between the protector and screen I told that person don't worry about its because of the edge. Well so much for saying that now that I purchased it for my iPhone 7 plus I am having the same issue. the gap makes it hard to type but I don't think I can use my phone without a case so I will keep it until I can find a case that can protect my phone like my other Defender. I just hope the other Defender I ordered won't have the same issue since it is a gift.

My only complaint is the same complaint I’ve always had. The amount of dust and fuzz that gets in under the screen protector is ridiculous. It all comes in by the ear piece/front facing camera port. How it’s been this many years and a piece of foam hasn’t been interrelated to fit around the border of the screen to help block dust is beyond me. I literally take my case apart twice daily just to wipe the fuzzies and such off the screen. Aside from that complaint, the cases have always been top notch in my book.

I leave my phone in the cases, clean them about once every month, and when it is time to trade it in for something better,I continually get top dollar because my phone is absent of marks, scratches, and dings! It's worth the money and their customer service is top notch. Shipping used to be free but hey, I'll always ship my new case to myself (if needed). It usually stretches out after a year (probably because I put my license and debit card behind when going out instead of carrying a wallet).

The clips on the inner case are a lot harder to unclip than in previous versions of the otterbox, and the overall design is a bit different too. This case makes your phone a lot easier to grip. My only concern is how dirty and dust collect near the back and front cameras, but I guess that's because those two areas need to be open. The built in screen protector is a lifesaver. Overall, this case is a good investment. Customizing is easy thanks to otterbox selling different pieces of this case separately.

I constantly have to take the case off of my phone to clean under the screen protector. The rubber outer case is now stretching because of this. I've barely had the case for 2 months. I'm very disappointed. My husband's case is not as bad as mine, but he has the same complaints.

There are two minor problems, the first being your holster keeps falling off my belt, I don't know why this has happened as I've used otter box before & that hardly ever happened, I can only say I hope the next time it falls off it won't be in water, thats the reason for the one star! The other problem is I can no longer use touch screen ID which I can live without! But if the holster causes my phone to be damaged you will be hearing from me again, of that you can be assured!!! In this respect I cannot fault the product. It does however lack the sophistication of a leather case, but then with a leather case you would be compromising protection relative to the defender series. This review loses one star for delivery. Ordered on the 12th October, shipped on the 13th October and arrived on the 21st October. Amazon Prime this is not! The small print does state that these cases can take up to 14 days (like that's a good thing!) but there is definitely scope for improvement IMHO on deliveries!

One thing I don’t care for is the home button though. The home button looks like it has double layer plastic over the circle and it makes it less responsive when touching it. It is a bit large but with that comes great drop protection. The included belt clip is very handy. No problem with the Touch ID. I do have to speak up a little when on the phone.

I know that if anything were to happen in which my phone falls to the ground, it would be fully protected by my OtterBox Defender Case. I was hesitant at first because some people stated that the Defender added so much bulk, but that's not true. My iPhone 7 Plus feels incredibly secure in my hand. It also feels well protected and the Defender does that and makes my phone look awesome at the same time! It is truly one sharp looking case and I am so glad that I went with it... In less than a week, it started to get purple around the edges. I called and got a free slip cover in navy blue, but I can see where it's starting to get grey around the edges. Cleaning doesn't work! I've used every trick in the book. Also, it DOES NOT keep dust out. I am finding myself constantly cleaning it only to find more dust in it five minutes later. I am thoroughly disappointed in this product.

So for the 6S Plus bought an Otterbox. Worked as I hoped. That thing is a tank. Now that with the 7 Plus went the same route but this cover has a flaw. The plastic screen protection is too far away from the actual screen. When you type it doesn't feel natural and you can feel the travel of every touch. When you swipe often it doesn't track because of this issue. Otterbox should fix this design.

I would have held out for the competitor's case which is waterproof, but because the new iPhone is water resistant, and the competitor hasn't yet come out with their case for my phone, well, I opted for Otterbox. It is solid. I do feel protected. But...the holster mechanism is awkward. The buttons aren't totally smooth, and sometimes require double pushing to make them connect. It is solid, though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great iPhone Protection I have always trusted Otterbox to protect my iPhones and keep them in perfect condition. I have now had this Otterbox for about 2 weeks and I have already dropped my phone a few times. I feel safe that I know it is protected against accidental drops and I can travel with it no concern that my iPhone might get damaged. Which I do use my iPhone a lot for work and for personal use. I would highly recommend this case for any active person who wants to protect their iPhone. One modification I would love to see is a thinner bottom protection so that I would be able to connect thunderbolt adapters easier and more secure.

So far, the only issue I have is that the outer cover doesn't seem to fit very well around the apple opening on the back of the case. It seems too loose in this area instead of fitting snugly around that opening. Other wise, the case seems great.

It always keep my phone brand new looking even if i am always in the bush. 4 yrs of quading sledding and the phone is still working like new, i even drop it in the water in the first couple month and outter box protect it . Unlike other otter cases for the older iPhones. Also a much thinner design and still works great. I drop my phone a lot. I have even dropped it and kicked it before and Otter had never failed me.

I have not dropped it from a height, but I’m sure that it will be protected if I do. The portion I am not fond of is the built in screen protector.It’s very reflective when I’m trying to take a picture out in sunlight, and also I have to push harder on the screen to register a function.I may try to figure out how to remove it and put a glass screen protector on instead.

I really like that it is 2 pieces now instead of 3, making it a lot more convenient to take it off or put it on. I hangout with kiddos a lot (in the "I'm going to throw everything because it's funny" stage) and when I (or they) drop my phone, there is no damage! Worth it.

Dropping the iPhone with the otterbox defender offers great protection all around. I know my phone is safe and the clip included with the case is a great accessory to have when in the summer as I can just clip it onto my shorts and not have to worry about having the phone in my pockets (cause the 7 plus barely fits as it is).

The compeditor is probably tougher, but both of them are incredibly protective and massive. I wish that the companies could incorporate sorbathane in their designs with perhaps a stainless exterior surrounding a thinner protective layer, but the cost would be breathtaking I guess. If you want toughness and don't mind more than doubling the thickness of the device, this is your case just like it is mine.

The only thing I’m having a hard time with is every time I try to swipe up and bring up my control center I have to swipe up like 5-10 times for it to actually come up. It’s weird. But after that. The lock button involves 2 hands the silent and volume buttons are so hard to push and access and the built in screen protector on the case is so unresponsive to your actual iPhone screen it's a total piece of rubbish !! Not worth the money they ask found a better case on google !!!

This means there is a slight gap between screen cover and screen so touch needs to be firmer and “two stage”: firstly to touch the cover; secondly to push the cover onto the screen below to ensure normal contact.

I have to continually push on the places to adjust the volume or engage the button to use my fingerprint or input the code.I never had this problem with my other cases. I purchase 2 of these cases for iPhone 7 after being happy with the iPhone 6 cases. I don't know if the case is not as good because they made them for both the iPhone 7 and 8 or if they are just making them too fast. I do still like how sturdy they are to assist with dropped phones.

I really have to hit the "keys" a lot harder, it is just not as smooth as a regular screen protector. Overall the phone is definitely secure, and that's the point.

Slightly bummed that they hadn't made any patterned Defender Case series cases yet. I did choose the teal combo one. Well..let's just say within 2 days you could tell where my fingers held my phone. I work as a retail manager, so my hands aren't filthy all the time. I've soaked and scrubbed it numerous times but it still looks awful.

Originally in a credit card holder type of case but could not protect the device from a simple drop. Lists of protection on the phone now. We installed a sticker type credit card holder on the holster and the it fits with phone in place.

I am starting to get a little arthritis in my thumbs but I don't think that's the problem. Unfortunately for the first time I'm not really pleased with the new product. The material the case is made out of it is much stiffer than previous models. Because of this, it does not seem as flexible on the buttons on the side and I have to push them several times to change the volume or turn the phone off. The screen cover does not work as well as the old models either. I push the keys and they don't always make the connections and have the numbers or letters appear that were tapped. Or nothing at all happens when you touch a key, I hope it's just a bad batch of the product and not all of their line is changed in this negative direction.

I could live with that, but unfortunately the design of the case around the Touch ID sensor affects the angle of your finger to such an extent that reading the fingerprint became very unreliable.

Some high end cases like lifeproof don't have the charging slot large enough to except after market chargers. An additional change from the 6plus to the 7plus case I like is the tab to open the charger slot this time. Well done otterbox. My whole family uses your cases and will continue tondonsonas I haven't found a better quality yet.

The cover doesn't fit exactly to the touchscreen, so I can't type as before and the screen looks as if i had a very old phone. With the otterbox the phone also looks if it would be a cheap, old phone, but I knew before that the phone won't look good with the otterbox. I thinks its effrontery, that I had to pay the shipment to me and back to the company, because I really wanted the otterbox and had no idea that the quality is that bad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheaper than a broken screen I normally cover my phone in an Otter Defender, but my son told my husband and I, "OH, Mom/Dad, you don't need that; use the one I bought, it's great and I haven't broken my screen yet." I believe 'yet' is the operative word there. Not wanting to be considered old fashioned by our very intelligent son, we did as he recommended. A week later, my husband dropped his iphone. Broken screen. I immediately got online and ordered two cases, one for his iphone with a newly replaced screen and one for my as yet unbroken one. What can I say? It's cheaper to purchase the OtterBox than to replace a screen, and they work, and we love the color choices, both custom and otherwise. We've used Defenders on 4-5 phones each now and I will never again listen to any suggestion that it's not worth it. The case costs a lot less than replacing a screen and they keep your phone looking great when you decided to upgrade and sell the old one.

I deliberately would not take the iPhone out of the box until the OtterBox arrived. I have used OtterBox products on all my iPads and iPhones and have never ever had a damage issue. It's a great insurance policy for dropping your phone, breaking the screen, etc. I do not use the belt clip but with the iPhone 7 Plus in the OtterBox it fits very comfortably in my pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better with each generation I've been using the Otterbox Defender cases for every phone I've had since the iPhone 3GS, including a the 4S, the 5, the 6 plus and now the 7 plus, as well as on a Samsung galaxy 4. I've never damaged a screen, even letting my 1 year old play with it and throw it. The profile is smaller on the iPhone 7 plus than th 6 plus. The rubber has gotten much better and less prone to stretch out over the years. This had to be the best case I've owned.

My only issue is if you are going to have a massive hole in the back to promote the Apple brand why don’t you put it in the middle. The fact the Apple sign is bias the bottom annoys me seeing as this is supposed to be made for the 8 + Why isn’t it Apart from that it’s a good thing but I have had to take it out once as debris has got inside it !!!

I emailed otterbox and they were happy to help me and replace my slip cover right away, no charge. I was very pleased with the service they provided me. I have purchased otter boxes in the past and will continue to in the future! specifically, the otterbox defender on my iphone 7 plus is wonderful, i enjoy the bulky size as it fits comfortably in my hands. i am able to fit it into my purse and pocket as well. i love the protection it offers and that i am still able to see the rose gold colour of my iphone through the back. although you must touch the screen a litte harder and the finger detection to unlock the phone can sometimes be difficult to read your touhc due to the plastic covering over it, i still really enjoy this case and am happy i purchased it!!

This case fits the phone well and seems to offer great protection. Wish they made real tree in the plus version. Buttons are a little hard to press, but that keeps them from accidently getting pressed. Shipping from Otterbox was fast. Shipped the same day I ordered it. FedEx smartpost not so much. It took a week to get from Colorado to Texas. Wish Otterbox would consider changing to other shipping methods. I like the idea of a serial number on the case now. Makes it easier to track down where a problem arises if there ever is one.

So, while pondering the decision, I purchased two different cases from other companies. Ended up getting the Defender case. It doesn’t fit a small purse, which I only use when going out at night. I got the black/black, since my last tourquoise Defender case was hard to Not Show Grime. I will never get another company’s case. My Otterbox is a Number One Phone saver, hands down. Well it's already done it's job. I drop things and I have disabilities where sometimes I can't focus so having this tough case makes me feel secure knowing that it's protected. The screen protector is a nice touch but it's not perfect. They have gotten much better though. You don't even really feel it. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for the best in protection and style.

It offers great protection for your iPhone while keeping the ports covered. It has a nice feel in the hand with a textured grip making it easy to hold and less likely to drop. It can be a little cumbersome in the dark to find the lightning port while managing the cover but it is a small price to pay for keeping your new iPhone looking new. The case is on the high side but if you plan on keeping the same phone for the next couple of years the case will last and it's still less than a replacement screen. All in all a good buy.

It makes it so difficult and nearly impossible to take screenshots or to get the volume and other buttons to work. And I noticed I now have to tap a few times and a little harder on the screen or I can't get It to type. I went out on a limb and bought an otterbox because I heard good things about it so I put the extra $$$ out on it and so far I am not too happy with my first otterbox...

My last otterbox protected my phone for a full 3 years with no problems. However, the reason this case loses a star is the screen protector. It leaves a slight air gap between the screen and the protector on various parts of the screen. So the input for typing is an absolute pain at times when it doesn't register a finger has touched the keyboard.

However previous models the screen protector would "stick" to the phones screen. This version the screen protector floats above the phone screen making the user interaction frustrating, especially when typing as the letters on the keypad can be wrongly pressed. Again great product but you will need to cut the screen protector off and buy a different protector that "sticks" to the glass.

My old phone has been protected by a Defender for 3 years now and out of the case you would think it was brand new. It’s not the prettiest case but it certainly does the job, been dropped many times and spends a lot of time in my studio which is very dusty at times.

The phone itself is impeccable but when one forks over anything above 500GBP for a mobile phone, An otter box phone case is a MUST. It adds abit of weight, and size to the phone but guarantees protection. Also I have found the phone desk stand case to also work fantastically as a belt clip as due to the size of the case and the phone- it’s not something that can fit in every pocket.

What I find is that at least once a week I have to take the case apart and wipe down the actual phone screen itself. My assumption is that dirt and dust are getting under the plastic cover through the opening for the ear piece. Why Otterbox didn't cover this large opening I don't know. One can only assume that it is due to the fact that the phone itself is water resistant and doesn't need that level of protection. I am disappointed that I am constantly taking the case apart to wipe the screen.

And, I have been recommending OtterBox defender case to most of my friends. After four years of protecting my Samsung Note 3, the resale value was astronomical, it still looks like brand new, and I have to tell you, I abuse that phone and at the end still looks brand new. I don't buy insurance on any of my phones because I am protected by OtterBox.

The Defender also has a protective plastic screen to protect against scratches. A belt clip with snaps to hold the iPhone is very useful. I am very happy with this purchase.

Really like the belt clip option as the larger phones really don't work in your pocket. It can handle being dropped and a day after I put my new phone in the case it got closed in a trunk and only got a small scratch on the case.

This case has saved my phones more times than I can count. I drop my phone regularly on my line of work, but have yet to have a cracked screen! Never had any water damage either. I'm such a believer in this product, that I wait to make sure Otterbox has a case available before I purchase the newest iPhone. The only thing I'd like to see changed is perhaps more available colors - I.e. I have the iPhone 7 plus, and I'd like to see a red shell with the black slip cover, or vice-versa. Other than that very minor issue, no complaints!!!

My experience with this type of case in my previous two phones(iPhone 4 and 5s) was that eventually the rubber sheath becomes loose and floppy after time. I'm hoping that this doesn't happen with this case and it continues to merit the 5 stars I've given it.

I work in a warehouse and have dropped my phone with this case and the phone is absolutely fine. The protection for the phone is great. A few things to keep in mind about this case: 1) it is thicker than most other cases, but this is necessary for the protection of the phone. 2) with the case being thicker than the thin cases, the speaker and microphone is inside the case a bit and so you will need to speak up a little more than normal at times. 3) also with the thickness of the case, the lightning jack can be tricky to find if you are not looking. (i.e. Plugging in the charge cable) Those are really minor inconveniences when compared to the superior protection you get from the case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible I bought this case to protect my iPhone because I work in an environment that I use my phone for different things and if I drop and break it then it's my problem so I decided why not try otterbox. Should have stuck with a normal case and screen protector. While my phone is protected I have to take the case apart at least once a week to clean the inside. With my job even though I use my phone this shouldn't happen I don't work in construction I work in an ER. Lastly taking apart the case to clean is a pain because it continuously stretches the outside liner and now it doesn't want to stay on correctly. Unless this problem can be fixed most likely will not buy an otterbox again that has the screen protector.

I’m not a fan of the plastic front but I push it out carefully and buy a tempered screen protector and get that applied to the phone. I like the design because it protrudes up about 1/8” so when you lay the phone down or drop it won’t hit the screen or camera Len. I also like that you can build you own color case, but I wish they had brighter colors. I once lost my phone in the woods when walking the dogs around sundown and I was lucky it landed face up because I chose the neon green for my iPhone 6s and it stood out. I have a iPhone 8+ Now and the colors aren’t as bright and the outer case need some popping color choices. That’s my preference.

When I upgraded to 7+ getting another Otter Box was a no brainer, and the defender was again the best choice. Phone locks into the carrier very positively and the swivel mount is handy for moving the phone if necessary (in car/out and about). Easy to recommend this case if you are likely to drop or bang on your phone -this is a great case for you.

I do not suggest dropping it or sending it across the parking lot. But I have done that and brushed off the dirt and kept using the phone. When I trade the phone in, they always give me full value since there are no blemishes on the phone. And when I break the clip, it is under warranty. They charge sales tax and shipping only. WOW.

The 3-layer protection can be difficult to fit, but once installed, it never needs to be changed again. Touch ID still works fine, and the touchscreen is as responsive as ever, with the built-in screen protector. However, my only criticism is that the lock/volume buttons are very hard to press. It should get better with time, but other than that, the case is as fantastic as ever.

Like all the Defender series cases I've owned, this is industrial strength. It gives the phone a very substantial durable feel. The case is rugged and as a consequence the phone is a little less agile than when it is outside the case. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great case, like the improvements The last otterbox that I bought was for my iPhone 5S, and while it looks like it went through a war, it's still protecting. That's what I like best about these cases, they can take a beating. The multi-layered protection looks like it will protect the phone through falls and other possible damage. I like that the front and rear cameras are no longer covered. That was a small issue that I had with my previous case - eventually you would get some dust in there. This will not have that problem. Also, it's not overly thick while still providing a good amount of cushioning and protection. I do worry about the longevity of the flaps that cover the lightning port and silent/ringer tab. I am plugging my phone in multiple times a day, and really hope that the flap makes it through all that abuse. Overall, I'm glad that I bought the case, and would purchase again.

It is also not as dust proof as they say, and I am having to take my phone out of the case to clean constantly. The protection level is good though I opted to remove the plastic screen protector that is built in to the case and leave my glass screen protector on the phone itself. The plastic screen protector does not stay tight to the screen even with out another screen protector and it does not always make good contact with the phone screen making swiping aggravating at times. The case itself is nice but the flap for the charging port is so tight even when open that it has caused my phone charger to loose contact while plugged in some times and not charge. The plastic around the home button is rather obtrusive and can make it hard for people with larger thumbs/fingers to use the thumbprint recognition for security. It's a decent case with good protection in mind but not so much functionality. I think for my next case I will opt for the commuter series case which I had on my iPhone 6 Plus. The commuter series case and a glass screen protector is a perfect combination for daily use and abuse.

I spend a considerable amount of time in the woods and other blue collar world activities and have to take the time to break down the case, wipe the phone down, and blow it out often enough that its a regrettable purchase. My only other issue with this case is that the clip in holster has a fairly flimsy clip, so I also often have to adjust the holster back into position or unlock the clip from its perma-open feature. If these things wouldnt be and issue to someone else this case would serve the purpose of looking great and protecting it from drops and scratches. Hope this info serves someone well.

The fit and protection are amazing, even seemingly a better build and rubber, than my previous 2 Otterbox Defender cases. Love the case but the side buttons for on/off and volume, not so much. They are VERY hard to push. To activate a button takes quite an effort. Not something I would want to work with long term. I'm hoping that, with use, the rubber buttons will loosen up a bit. I would love to be able to recommend this case, except for the buttons, it is a GREAT case. Until the button issue is resolved, I really can't do that.

I just recently sold my 4s because it was in such excellent condition from being in the case all these years. I don't mean to drop my phone, but it happens. Plenty of drops, but my screens have never cracked. Some people are bothered by the cases being bulky, but it has never been a problem for me. I would rather have my phone be a little bulky and safe than have to worry about breaking.

Never have I had a damaged/cracked electronic. My only wish is that there was some way to keep from scratching up the otterbox screen. I am a nurse and carry it in my pocket with pens, pencils, scissors and hemostats, then add the drops and everything else I do to my poor phone , the plastic front usually is so scratched up at the end of 6-8 months that it effects the touch screen capability.

From the sides to the back, I really like the new feel. I feel like I have a better grip on my phone when my hands are wet. Hands down you can't go wrong with this case. I still wish they had a clear version in the Defender so you could still see the outside of your phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointing protection! When I purchase a case for a new iPhone I expect it to be all encompassing. By that I mean that the case should totally protect the entire phone. Unfortunately that is not true with this Defender case. First of all, there is a large cutout in the case itself around the area of the camera lenses. This leaves the lenses unprotected and the possibility of dirt, dust and other contaminants fogging the lenses. The same cutout appears where the speaker for the ear is located, also unprotected. When asked, Otterbcx responded that the case is not waterproof and thus not entirely sealed. I've had other cases that had covering over these areas that did not hinder the operation of the phone. Needless to say I am somewhat disappointed with the amount of protection the Defender provides for my IPhone. For the cost of this case, the protection should be complete!

It is secure and I can easily use all the appropriate finger gestures to control the phone. Extends the usefulness of the phone and I don't need to worry about damaging it. The only drawback with the plus size is the difficulty in putting it into your pocket, as the rubberized cover has a lot of friction against cloth.

It's extremely frustrating and it really increases the amount of time it takes to do even the simplest tasks! I am thinking that I will give up my otterbox for my old smooth cover.

After buying my iPhone 7plus I decided it would be a good idea to invest in the best of the best. My first option was the commuter case but with my clumsiness I decided to go for the defender. I made a great choice, so far I have dropped my phone more times than I can count. I have only took off my case once to clean the screen which got dirty very quickly mainly due to my job as a pizza maker, flour everywhere! My phone and case are in great condition and I love it. Wish I could say the same about the iPad defender case but that's a different review. Only two downfalls wish defender series offered more color variety and tighter fitting screen protector. At least there is pink and purple for now the that works perfectly. Overall great case, amazing protection for my iPhone. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, but: The case is good, good protection, but: I use it with my iPhone 8 Plus and there are some things I really don’t like. 1) The vanity window is off a bit: the apple logo is misaligned 2) The built-in screen protection: there’s a gap between the display and the display protection, you’ll hear a plastic clicking sound every time you touch...on top you’ll feel a bulge at the edges. 3) Dust Protection? No, that’s a lie. Dust comes behind the screen protector easily through the hole for the speakers on top and bottom...you’ll have to clean the case regularly 4) After a couple days/weeks of using the case, the frame starts to creak at some spots...you’ll hear it while holding/using the phone These issues are not huge and it’s still a very good protection...but for the amount of money I payed I definitely would expect more/less minor issues.

As long as I can remember, I have always used the Otterbox Defender Series on any phone I have owned. The only reason I gave this a 4 star rating and not a 5 is because the phone moves slightly while in the Otterbox (It could be shrunken down a few millimeters to fit a little tighter like my Otterbox's in the past have) because this sometimes causes the new pressure touch button material to peel away from the button when it moves. The second reason for the 4 star rating is because since I have put it on my phone, people now tell me it's a little bit harder to hear. Other than that, the new Otterbox Defender for the iPhone 7 Plus is sleek and stealthy while still providing industry leading protection, thanks Otter team!

These cases work, we have dropped our iPhones many times over the years, and have never had any damage to the phones. We exchange the old iPhones back to Verizon, looking like new. Otter Box has excellent customer service, they stand behind their products. Note: The Otter Box Defender case for iPhone 7plus, uses the same Defender Series belt clip holster, as the one for the iPhone 6plus, even has the same part# on it, so you can keep your old holster as a backup.

The problem is with the thick raised screen protector. The touchscreen barely works, when I press to launch an app it usually either does nothing or does a forced click. And opening the control panel is nearly impossible, it just doesn't register. If you want to use you phone for anything besides answering phone calls, don't buy this case.

Great protection against dropping your phone. The plastic screen protector that comes with it - I take that off. Use a blowdryer to heat up the plastic screen protector where it's glued to the plastic frame of the case. That plastic cover comes right off, and you can add your own, BETTER screen protector. My 1 complaint with the Otterbox defender for iPhone 8+ is that people have a hard time hearing me on the phone. I've heard others with this issue too. But it's a minor issue, worth it for the great protection and durability this case provides.

Nice selection of colors, textures etc. The only slight negative is the protection cover over the phone charge port. The cover flap opens up rather than down putting some pressure on the pin plugged into the phone. Not a big irritant but I liked the cover flap when it opened down better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trucker tough I have had Otterbox Defender cases since the days of my iPhone 4 and now in the days of iPhone 12, I’m still hanging in there with my iPhone 7. I am now retired, from years of Over the Road trucking. I have never damaged any of my phones due to moisture, weather or dropping etc, and we are talking some 6 to 7ft drops climbing in and out of tractors. My only criticism is in regards to the holster clip. The one on my old iPhone 4 is still in good shape, but everyone of the clips for my plus phones over the years have had to be replaced multiple times. I began ordering replacement clips several at a time. I would like to see Otterbox use a less brittle plastic for their clips. As I read the comments in the reviews, I realized that I had forgotten about the Otterbox guarantees. Not sure if the holster clips are covered but holsters are relatively cheap to replace where as phones are not, and Otterbox Defenders have kept my phones safe since 2010. Now in retirement I know longer fear for my phones the hardships of trucking life. But reading reviews of the Commuter and Symmetry cases and some comments regarding the feel of them as a bit slippery, my current Defender’s rubber encasement has a secure feel and grips surfaces well. I think the Defender will be my Otterbox of choice for a long time to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hopefully no more broken screens I just wanted an all over case. It came with a holster which I will never use. I think that part is a waste. But I was unable to see from the web pages if the other cases were this same build.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can not recommend enough This is not the first phone I have had an otterbox on. After this is will definitely not be my last. The second phone I had in an otterbox (it was an iPhone 6 fell out of my hand while I was riding a motorcycle doing 80 and got ran over. the only issue it had was the Bluetooth chip broke... it didn’t even crack back or front. This phone case I have had for 3 years not long in to having it the case did cracked but I kept using the case and it is in multiple pieces now the rubber outside is really what is keeping everything together. I am very prone to dropping phones and the only thing that is broken is the back of my phone. About a month ago someone reminded me about the warranty. I didn’t think they would replace my case with the fact I bought it so long ago. I put in my request and saw the email that my claim was being reviewed. Within a day they were sending me a new case! Everyone who says anything about case I always sing my praises of these cases. This only reinforces my love for these cases and this company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the case but support was questionable I have been a fan of Otter Box cases for years but this is the first time I have tried to buy one online instead of through a cellular store and the process was too painful for my liking. I know that there are new challenges that everyone is facing due to the Coronavirus but I would have thought that it wouldn’t have caused this much interruption to providing decent customer support.

Called back 3 hours later, my order was already on it's way. I spoke to a representative, she send me a free one to replace my old one and instructions to send the ordered one back. best service ever.... great product had for 8 years before replacement needed.
