This one appears to only provide protection along the top and bottom edge. I don't have much confidence in this case being able to provide sufficient protection to the phone, especially along the long edges.

I feel that my phone is actually safe & protected by the 2 part snap in shell AND the surrounding rubber cover. I really like that there are port covers to help protect from dirt/dust & moisture. And the snap in belt clip adds yet another layer of protection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Otter Box again proves it's worth! With the new Samsung S8, I ordered a Defender Otter Box to protect it. The Defender line is a wonderful protector. This is my third phone in the last seven or so years protected by the Defender line of products, and I couldn't be happier with never having a damaged phone in spite of the very rough treatment I subject my phones to. I ordered the Alpha Glass with the Defender, and it took several tries to get the Alpha Glass centered, but once on correctly, it works exactly as the S8 works without the protective glass. I cannot highly enough recommend Otter Box products!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's ok I am a long time otter box customer and for the most part I have had no comaints untill I purchased the defender case for the Samsung galaxy S8. The overall feeling I have for this case is I don't feel like I am protecting my phone 100%. The screen feels to exposed to danger feels like not enough protection for it if you drop the phone. Also the belt clip doesn't feel secure enough I have had my phone fall out of its holster two times now and I have had the case replaced once already with in a few days of purchase. All in all I rate this a 2 out of 5 because of some flaws with the case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A little disappointed I have used otterbox cases for all my phones and love them, however the case for the new galaxy s8 not having a screen protector built in like the previous cases for the galaxy s7 was a little shocking to me. I would think that with newer cases that they would get better,or at least stay the same, not go backwards by not protecting the screen.

This is my second otter box, I had one on my galaxy s5 as well and I love it. My phone is fully protected and it feels better to hold and handle.

My only concern was not including screen protection with this one. I chose to pair the Defender case with Alpha Glass. As always customer service is fantastic. I am a huge fan!

Sick of hearing all these complaints that it's not as bulky as older defenders (that's a good thing) and that it doesn't come with a screen protector which I would throw away anyway. Ignore the whiny negative reviews lol

Of course, I don't drop my phone intentionally but when I do I feel confident that it will be okay. The latest purchase is the Defender Series Case for Galaxy S8. I haven't tried a screen protector with this case yet because a lot of the reviews I've seen say it doesn't cover it completely so the jury is still out on this one for me. I've also seen reports that a screen protector doesn't work well with the tightness of this case. I'm still trying to decide if I should spend the money on the screen protector. Getting back to the case...it is very sturdy and makes the phone feel more secure in you hand.

Considering how these gadgets costs a mountain of money, this shouldn't be happening. Since it did however, I'm thankful and forever grateful for this Defender series case. At the very least there should have been one included in the box. It also should be made more clear that this case does not have a screen protector. There are way better cases, but the whole reason for getting this one was the screen protection as well.

I love the fact I was able to get the color of my choice as usually the black ones are only available in stores. I love the texture of the case it's sleek and easy to grip. Since getting the case I have dropped the phone once and no issues! Wouldn't buy any other brand then Otterbox! It is worth every penny i paid!

I am an otter box fan for 10 years and this is best and worst defender case at the same time. I might as well get the commuter case cheaper with similar protection.

This case leaves the screen of the phone completely exposed, it makes the case worthless. The point of having the screen protector on the defender series is that it protects the screen when the phone is dropped and the screen protector doesn't break neither. The glass screen protector breaks depending on how you drop the phone. You'll always have to replace the glass screen protector...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My, that's a big one. I've been using the pre-hardened S6-Active for the past 3 years and wasn't accustomed to the added bulk an OB Defender would add to the S8. Consequently the phone spends more time in my hand than in my pocket where it belongs. The OB Defender is perfect for the phone-always-in-hand user since it gives the phone a lot more surface area to hang on to and that surface is very grippy, tactile rubber. Even if I have it in my hand on a long, sweaty, run it never seems to get slippery. OtterBox have implemented the button covers in such a way that they are BETTER than how Samsung designed them, you can actually feel the button with gloves on or while the phone is in your pocket. Great product.

That being said, i work as an auto technician and i am in and out of cars A LOT during the day... Thats my only gripe so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Case for Outdoor I bought the Otterbox Defender series roughly one month ago. The case has a good grip and fits perfect on the Samsung Galaxy S8. You can handle the S8 with one hand when the case is installed but it is easier with two hands. The case seems to be very tough. I hope I don't have to test the streanght of the case in the near future ^^ There is one bad thing to say about the case. It is very hard to apply a screencover and the most screencovers don't fit on the screen with case installed. All in all I recommend the case for everyone who does some outdoor activities!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect case So i was looking all over the internet about the best case for my phone, and everybody was recommending the otterbox defender series and I just got that Galaxy s8 so I wanted full protection for it. Going online looking at the case design, I wasn't convinced cuz it was all bulky and didn't seem to have style or design that wouldn't say "I bought an expensive phone so I'll put it in the bunker this way it'll stay safe." Well and then I said f it, the price almost had me look away cuz I found it really expensive tho just for a case. Well then I ordered it and received really quick. And then as I was putting it one the phone I noticed that it was a slim case with all the defender features and that it fitted my s8 and it's edges perfectly. I was like WOW. The case is easy to mount and unmount. It feels great in the hand and has grip. It's not slippery. It's just the best case you can ever get for your your money. And also their alpha glass is the screen protector you'd like on your phone

I'm still a little worried about how this protects some of the edge curved screen but seems like a great case that provides great grip to prevent drops and good protection against drops. Hopefully I don't test the product out to much, would like to see zero drops.

This is my 2nd Otter Box, (different cell phones) and they hold up better than some other brands that I have tried. Moral of the story, just purchase an Otter Box for your cellphone and protect your investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OtterBox Defender Cases I had an OtterBox Defender case for my Samsung Galaxy S6 and really liked the case and the protection it provided my phone. However, the case for Samsung Galaxy S8 doesn't have a cover over the screen because of Samsung's design (curved edges) for the screen. I checked out screen protectors bought one and installed it, let it set overnight and when I put phone back in case it became dislodge at top and bottom of the phone. So, currently I have no cover over the screen it self, just the OtterBox Defender case for the phone.

Allows full functionality of buttons and screen. Have had the Galaxy S8 and Otterbox Defender a couple weeks. Previous Defenders offered "full protection". My only concern is in the long-term. What will the screen be like without any protection?

I work out doors and spend most of my life out doors either working, fishig, or fourwheeling...ect. The reason I dint like it was because it dont have a screen protrecror, wich might cause my phone to get dirt inside. If you ever make one woth a screen protector. I would happly buy it!

I however thought the color was a two- toned color with a light green strip on the edge, so I was disappointed when i opened it and saw a solid color. That was my peeve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly upset! I just got my otterbox in today for the galaxy s8 and I am highly upset!! It has no screen protector! I went and reviewed the site and it doesn't say anywhere that there is not a build in screen protector. I loved otterbox but after this I'm not so impressed.

The case was excellent from the start but screen protector cause top third of the screen to be in useable. I contacted otter box and they supplied a second one without any fuss. Fitted it and haven't looked back. I have even dropped it once and it didn't even Mark it

I may not have read closely enough, it may say that it does not. However, the video and pictures show that one came with it, as well, there was no decrease in price. I've had 8 to 10 otterboxes and they have done well. I just have to now find a screen protector that will work with the case, or another company that can make both.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged The case as always is great at protecting the phone. I have had issues with the belt clip on previous models I have had but not this one. It holds the phone very secure but yet does not require 2 hands to get it out of the clip when you need to. Great redesign job!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy, but not happy I bought this case for my S8, it says dust proof but kinda hard to get the full protection since there is no screen protector. I understand that since the screen is curved it's hard to use the same plastic that is supplied on the normal otter box. The price should be lower, or a screen protector sheet provided since the price is the same as any other otter box i have purchased. I have had the otter box products for years and support your company. Just would like to see some of the same protection you provide for the "regular" phones if it's going to cost the same price. After I placed the order I wasn't sure If it provides any screen protection. I misinterpreted the screeless design description. I called Otterbox customer support and placed an order for the glass screen protector. Support was great as always. I don't have the preordained s8 yet but I suspect the defender and screen protector will be a great fit so I'm going with 4 stars until everything is delivered.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Alpha Glass Disaster I am amazed that Otterbox claims that the Alpha Glass screen protector "works seamlessly" with the Samsung Galaxy S8. Really??? The screen protector does not sit flush with the screen, and one literally has to mash down---and mash down HARD---in order to interact with the S8 screen once the Alpha Glass is installed. Bottom line: the screen protector that doesn't even come with the Defender is a waste of money and a good way to instantly hate using your S8. Don't buy it!!!

The only draw back is that unlike the other otterbox cases I got for older phones these do not come with a screen cover. I feel this is a draw back and I wish otterbox would fix this glaring big problem

After asking others what they liked I bought an Otterbox expecting it to be the last case I need. Within 3 months the tab on the case that holds it in the holder had broken off. I turned the case around so the phone faced the other direction. Within a month that side of the tab broke also rendering the holder useless. A case that is advertised as the best on the market should last more than 4 or 5 months. I won't be buying another Otterbox unless they offer at least a 2 year warranty. I do not recommend this case.

I've had it for a month now and its easy to clean, fits secure in my phone holding case for my car, and its not bulky in my pockets.

Of course my old case wouldn't fit. I got one from Otterbox and I couldn't be happier. I kept misplacing my phone on a trip and almost lost it once in the airport. I got my new Otterbox case in a short period of time and at a reasonable price. I can depend on Otterbox.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice case but... Nice case, only gripe is the little cover flaps you have to move out of the way to plug in a charging cable/headphones. It makes it harder to grip the cable when unplugging, so instead of grabbing the cable by the hard plastic housing like you are supposed to, you are more likely to grab it by the flexible wire, which will cause the charging wire/headphones fray/break sooner. Also the buttons are a but too difficult to press for my liking. Would have preferred a less flexible material than rubber on the buttons. They still work fine though.

I currently have an OtterBox Defender on my Samsung phone, the case fits like a glove and has saved my phone many times. I can also attest to the fact that OtterBox stands by their products, they replaced my absolutely thrashed Blackberry Z30 case under warranty no questions asked.
