My last phone broke in an Otterbox
I only had to purchase a new phone because my last one (Motorola Edge+) was still badly damaged from a drop at work while in an Otterbox. The drop was only about 3' but it was screen down onto corrugated steel stairs. As Otterbox/Lifeproof have cornered the market, I thought it was still the best bet to protect my new device (Samsung A53) however based on the flimsy product (OB Defender) I received from an online order I do not think it will be able to protect my new device any better than my last. When I bought an Otterbox in 2012 for an S3 it came with a screen protector along with the case for about $50. This Otterbox Defender and a screen protecter came to over $160CAD. That is insane. I hate this company for the drop in product quality and jacked up prices. After receiving this latest Otterbox Defender in the mail I do not think I will ever buy one again.

Otterbox comes thru again
I've owned an Otterbox case for all of my previous phones and absolutely loved them. This one is no different. It fits the phone like a glove, vastly improves one-handed manipulation of the phone and provides far superior protection than the other cases I've tried. Definitely worth the price of admission.

Solid and reliable
I have used a number of Otterbox cases. This is first of the Defender series that I have purchased, which is for me new phone. I intend to use this phone for field work in the spring. I am confident that this case is ideal for adding rugged-style protection for my device. There were no installation instructions in the box. However, installation was easy, after watching the short Youtube video from Otterbox. There is a bit of play (looseness) at the sides, but this does not interfere with the control buttons, and the seal around the edge appear to be quite tight. The lower corners are a bit sharp and can be uncomfortable when holding the phone for a while. But this is just the way I tend to hold my phone, so not a major issue for the protection that this case will provide.

Disappointed
Sadly the Samung A53 box has not the clip strength as the Samsung 5 & 7 and other purchases. The quality control has dropped.
