Rated 5 out of 5 by from It felt protective The case felt very protective and I didn't feel like my phone would snap in half if I dropped it at a reasonable distance (ex: a normal distance from me walking around and it falling on the ground and not something unreasonable like off a balcony of an apartment. Personally for me, it was very heavy and made my purse super heavy! If that doesn't bother you then it's probably fine.

The color is nice too, which is something I was looking for. I was drawn to this case because of the color and anti-microbial properties. My husband immediately bought one after seeing mine. Would totally recommend!

The cases don’t always last the longest but the warranty has got me replacements as needed. Very satisfied. I would recommend adding a sliding camera protector to the next edition. I cut a camera slide cover mechanism out of cheap case and super glued it to my otter box. Works great so far.

The port where im supposed to be able to put the lightning cable to charge doesn’t allow me to do so.The first case I purchased was defective but now I purchased a second and can’t charge my phone. Otter’s customer service is helping with the first defective product but now having purchased another case and can’t charge my phone its disappointing, Ive purchased otter box before and am quite surprised at the challenges im facing at present . I also cant use my magsafe charger with this case which makes this all very trying as I feel Ive wasted my money.

I tend to be hard on phones and this case has really protected my phone from any damage - drops off ladders/tables, bumps, bangs and just hard, active daily use. This is a great, very protective but still slimline case. The only problem is that the inner rubber layer sometimes breaks at the thinnest area at the bottom. Otterbox is terrific about replacing wither the outer casing or the rubber liner under the warranty

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good case except... I had a Commuter Otterbox on my iPhone 7 and loved it. So when I got an iPhone 12, I bought another Commuter case for it on Amazon. When I put the new case on my iPhone, however, there was an annoying crack between the plastic piece of the case and the rubber piece. This gap is at the corner of the phone where the camera is. The rest of the case fits flush, though. I was worried that gap would be a place where dirt could make its way to my phone when it’s in my pocket, so I decided to exchange the case for another Commuter case through Amazon. When the second Commuter case showed up, though, it had the exact same gap by the camera where the two pieces of the case didn’t fit flush. I took both cases off and on multiple times to see if I could get the pieces to fit flush, but it was always the same result. Both cases were made in Mexico, so I assume they came from the same plant. Anyway, now I’m trying to decide if I should just live with the case I’ve got, or check into some other brand of cases. I really like Otterbox cases as I had zero problems with my last one. They are superb for drop protection in my experience, too. Still, I have to admit I’m disappointed that the cases didn’t fit better on my new iPhone.

I was told a story about my buddies phone that he accidently left on the hood of his truck, and after getting up to speed he saw something fly against his windshield, over the cab and bounce off the road. That's when he realized it was his iPhone. He stopped quickly, went back to see how bad it was broke and found there was no damage to the phone whatsoever. He had the Defender case and that's what I've been buying ever since. They aren't the cheapest option but for how I handle my phone and what I put it through, in my opinion, they have been the best choice for me. I've been buying the Realtree case with the orange plastic but for some reason this year they apparently aren't offering that. I wish the would because it always helped me to spot my phone when I would forget where I placed it and it would also stand out to identify it from other phones. I don't love the online customer service process, too generic, unless I'm not doing something right.

The case is sturdy enough to protect the phone (I also use a glass screen protector and slim enough to slide easily in and out of my scrubs pocket. Also, it has enough grip not to slide around too much in a slick surface. Because I work in a hospital, also had to be easy to clean. Love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good case with flaws Rubber opener is prone to wear and tear and the rubber pieces on the back do help with grip but do get dirty themselves (noticeably) over time even after a wash. It’s not terribly dirty will still definitely protect your phone but I did return it.

No more looking around for a black phone that you can't see. I picked a Turquoise color for that reason. Almost got the Orange-rust. Love color.

This time we ordered 4 of them (my 9 year old Granddaughter is getting her first IPhone in a few days. My old case did a great job of protecting my phone and others who had them. Looks good also. I do not like the flexible sides near the top. After a month I can already see where it will stretch out and get loose.

It leaves a small gap between the phone and the case in those areas. But even worse is it blocks the charging port...I struggle to insert the charge cable and fear I am damaging the port.

I've had it for a few weeks and so far, it stays cleaner than older versions, and also feels more lightweight. The buttons are a little harder to press and I know some people don't like the little door that covers the charging port, but those are things I'm happy to accept in exchange for the protection. Its dropped so many times, they're some cracks in the case but the android is its newest condition because of the case. So I figured let me protect my new I-phone. This case makes me feel that my phone is safe. The grip is really comfortable and secure. The color is accurate. It is a bit tough to press the volume button, I have to press a bit harder to turn the volume but its fresh out of the box. Other than that it's the perfect fit, literally.

Also allows you to pick up and hold the phone without accidentally pushing buttons (iPhone buttons are super-sensitive, and you end up taking screen shots every time you pick it up without the case).

I have never had a cracked screen or really any damage to my iPhone while it’s on. So naturally I bought another one when I upgraded to the iPhone 12. Not the happiest with the commuter case this time - it still has the same amount of protection as always before, but now it is definitely thicker and I have to be more intentional when pushing the volume buttons and the other side button. It also comes with a cover over the charge insertion, which I understand works to keep dirt out, but it’s actually irritating to have to finagle out of the way every time I want to charge my phone. Also discovered it didn’t allow the “magnetized “feature on the new iPhone to work properly. And that is my fault as I noticed that was the case when I bought The commuter this time, I was just ignorant to what that actually meant, so that is honestly my fault. Overall it’s definitely a great case to keep your iPhone and screen protected. I just will be on the lookout for same level of protection with a less thick case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its been a couple of months I got this request to review the product within a week of owning it. You need time to use a product like this. Over time you will put your phone on a counter, table or desk and knock it off. This may or may not happen in the first week or two of owning a new product. Well I've knocked it off a few things. Had it slip out of a pocket and fall to the ground, I forgot to zip the pocket closed, got it wedged in a cup holder etc. It's been exposed to cooking, butter, flour, oil, sauces, etc. some hot, some cold. It's held up quite well. No visible damage to either the phone or the cover. Before Covid I would clean it sporadically. Now it gets regularly cleaned with an alcohol aerosol spray. I wish it had come with a screen protector. Sigh.

At least for iPhone 12 users that have this feature available - it does not make sense to not have all cases have this standard. As far as the protection and design the case is top notch!

A standard lightning cable is very difficult to insert due to the tightness at the top of the slot. So unless you rely strictly on wireless charging, some modification may be neccesary for effortless insertion of the cable.

It has the right quality of non slip surface area, but also not too much that it slides into my pocket and purse with ease. Very durable for those accidental drops. Only disappointing part is having to order online bc the stores aren’t carrying them in stock for the iPhone 12 Pro. So had to buy a cheap silicone case till this one arrived. Otterbox was quick in their processing of my order, but I had to deal with the inconvenience of not having it when purchasing the phone. Just wish there was more of a variety of colors to choose from. All 3’of my iPhones have pretty close to the same color cases as I’m not a fan of pink.

After a week of having it on, the case hasn’t failed to protect my phone from drops. Just to clarify, I have only dropped it two times by accident ever since this review has been made. The only downside of this case it that the grippy part is not on the lower sides of the case, just near the power and volume buttons. Overall, I love the color and general style.

The problem this time was that I spoke with a customer service rep that assured me this case would work with MagSafe. It does not. It has a weak magnetic pull and does not allow the phone to charge. So ended up wasting ~$50 on a MagSafe charger.

I bought the new iPhone 12 Pro. After having a positive experience the last time, I bought another one. In my head, I wanted to buy a case that was more "fun" looking, but at the price of the new phones, I let practicality and security overrule. I wish Otterbox would offer more options in appearance. Standard shipping took awhile, Otterbox sent it quickly, but it took from the Dec 26th mailing date to Jan 6th to receive it.

I found cutsey cases from other companies that were just for looks, and on the opposite end of the spectrum, cases that were so massive they just looked like they'd get in the way. I found the Otterbox Commuter Series, in the Ballerina style fit my needs perfectly, at a reasonable price. I know it's not rated as working with wireless chargers, but I'm able to charge my phone, in it's case, with my Magnetic Wireless Charger RAVPower for MagSafe Charger. Very pleased with my Otterbox purchase!

Rear Camera edges are raised about 1/5" above the lenses and 1/4" above the back of the phone. Edges around rear camera are black. More drop protection then most cases. Cons: Need more color options. Especially dark red. Room for improvement: The edges around the rear camera could be more matte. FYI: This case is trades improved protection for a bit more bulk.

I would LOVE it if the whole side , all the way around the case, was grippy. There are thousands of slippery cases and very few true grippy cases to choose from.

So far I have found this to not be true. I have a MagSafe pad and not only does it fail to secure, it also fails to charge or charges very slowly. Unfortunately, there don't appear to be quality wireless charging or MagSafe options on the market. Even the one OtterBox offers that is designed for MagSafe doesn't feel like a quality case for your phone. I just wish there was a better choice out there.

I love that it's fairly easy to remove the phone from there case to pop into my running arm band. So much that when I got my new phone and I picked out an Otterbox case, I thought I had the wrong size. I thought I was going to break my phone trying to get the case in. Long story short, this may be my favorite case yet. It was SO easy to put on my phone!! I have had a commuter before in the past for my iPhone X, and it enjoyed it. So I thought I would try it with my new phone, and it is great! The light blue is a beautiful color! It looks great on my black iPhone 12 Pro! If you want a easy case to put on, get this one!! Yes the buttons on the side are a little hard to push, but they will ease up with more use! I love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Strong Had my phone in this case the other day. It was run over by a 25-ton fire truck. My phone still works perfectly. The only damage is a cracked screen. Everything else functions. The case has some very minor damage but is still completely usable. I'll probably be replacing the damaged case with a brand new one just in case. 10/10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not what I expected I bought this case a month ago. Basically the rubber (silicone should be where the plastic is and the plastic should be where the rubber (silicone) is. The case can slip out of your grasp fairly easily bcz the sides are plastic where you would normally grab your phone. If they would just switch the areas I mentioned above, this would be GREAT case bcz it is nice and slim and looks like it will do a great job protecting your phone.

Also, i’ve dropped the phone about 4 times in the case and the plastic has already cracked completely through and across and is falling off. very upset … i thought otterbox cases were better than this

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never again I got this and in less than 2 weeks , it’s super dirty . I put my case in my jeans pockets and the first day I pulled it out , my phone case was blue. I’ve had other brands and wore the same jeans and nothing this otter box did not hold color .

The iphone 12 commuter requires too much force to push in the side buttons. The rubber on the back face is proud of the plastic, which makes it wobble when on a flat surface when you touch the screen. The designers need to make adjustments, in my opinion I purchased my case through amazon.

After buying the Defender Pro XT, I decided to switch to the Commuter instead, for its deeper camera cutout bezel and slightly smaller overall size. The much lower price was a bonus. It was easy to install and buttons work fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My iPhone got run over by a truck today I ran across the street today and my iPhone 12 Pro Max leaped out of my pocket. I turned around and saw a mammoth f150 heading strait for it at like, 45mph. I wasn’t gonna risk it and run back into the street so all I could do was stand there, watching in horror as it made direct contact. In that moment I knew the 1300$ phone was as good as toast, but to my absolute delight and surprise it was not only just ok, it was absolutely fine without a scratch. I don’t know what kind of space man technology went into this case, but if it can literally handle being dropped onto asphalt than run over by a speeding truck, it’s worth it’s weight in gold. Thank you OB for saving my buns today.

I bought it about a month ago and already dropped once and as It fell I grinch thinking the worst but as it hit the floor I saw how it slow bounced from side to side then finally hit the floor. Nothing happened to it. I was so happy, definitely recommend it. It doesn’t feel to bulky and it’s light. The side buttons are a bit tuff but they soften with time. Not a big deal as others have complained.

The lightning port cover is great because it keeps out the dust bunnies. I've tried a lot of cases, but OtterBox is my go to case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The more casual Otterbox I prefer this case to other Otterboxes, I don’t like the built-in plastic screen protector on some, or the case in a case with the plastic skeleton that snaps together. The more casual yet effective approach to this style for me is much nicer. Doesn’t interfere with the glass privacy screen protector I chose. The charging port cover is nice to keep dirt, lint, and debris out. The only preference I have that is hard to come by in any case, is subdued buttons on the side. So either have enlarged bulbous air pocket corners so when the phone is on its side edge, the buttons aren’t the first thing touching the surface, leaving it stable and the buttons unpressed. Or have slightly thicker sides so the button covers are even with side. Minor personal preference, but I’ve yet to find a “perfect” phone or case, so life goes on.

When I received it, I loved it as much as I loved the one I had previously (with the iphone10s. then I went to charge the phone.... the bottom lip appears to be too thick as I can’t get the charger close enough to the phone?!

I upgrade my phone every year and always make sure it's an otterbox that goes on it. I never have broken a phone screen yet and have dropped it plenty of times on the concrete on my pool deck in my yard. Thanks Otterbox!
