I was deciding between the Defender & Commuter series, but I decided to go with the commuter series because I liked the design & color choices better. It fits my iPhone 8 perfectly & really love the color combo of Black/Stormy Seas Blue. The edge is raised just enough to protect the screen, which it seems a lot of other cases lack. I am used to my old iPhone 5 style, so this case helps give that feel with my iPhone 8 without too much added weight & the sleek style without bulk. So needless to say I'm very happy with my purchase!

It is more squared off, has more exposed rubber, and grippy indentations in the rubber. MUCH easier to manipulate one-handed. Seems easier to slip the rubber insert (this product) into the plastic case, also. Though this may just be because my old one was, well, OLD. Also, easy to order online from OtterBox and quick delivery.

Installation was easy and being able to make my own color combo was great! I added a vinyl sticker decal to my case.

Makes the slippery phones feel so much more secure in your hand. Do wish that the covers came in more interesting and attractive colors tho.

Especially when I'm double-tasking with a work phone and a personal phone— someone's going to hit the pavement. I really appreciate this Otterbox case because it's not bulky (bulky cases can make dropping even more likely sometimes), and it's survived multiple rounds of "quality-testing" (i.e., dropping) already. It fits perfectly, stays on well, and the customization feature was nice, to order one in exactly the style I wanted. Definitely recommend!

Because it provides a lot of protection, it won't slip in and out of your pocket effortlessly because of the substantial bumpers. I bought it direct from OtterBox so I picked my color combination. I had an Otterbox before and was trying to find a case with similar quality but for a lesser price. I returned the other case and purchased an Otterbox again because the quality is superior and well worth the extra cost. My phone is protected fully from falls and looks amazing too.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve dropped my phone (recently down a flight of marble stairs) and the case has protected it beautifully. I use Commuter, but my husband dropped his phone, in a Defender, off a crane boom while repairing it, and the phone came away without a scratch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE the Commuter Series I think this is my fifth otterbox cover. It might be more, because It was my first iphone 4 case about 12-13 years ago. For me, the Commuter Series is the right mix of protection, without being too bulky. I really do drop my phones a lot and always have a case ready when a new phone arrives. I have strayed a couple of times and purchased other cases, but they never held up and didn't seem that protective. When it came to ordering a case for my Dad's new cell phone, there was no debate on what it would be for him. In a perfect world the white and grey combo would be available again, but I understand that some people didn't understand that white can show dirt, and they complained. Light colors might tend to do that. I would recommend that they get the black and not worry about the dirt that doesn't show. White was easier to find. Fingers crossed for its return.

So I KNEW that when I got my new phone I had to get it again. I LOVE the Mountain Green rubber first layer. It is the perfect shade. The little piece at the bottom to cover the charging port holds up for a very long time. Overall- I will ALWAYS buy otterbox! They are Proven to work!!

When I upgraded to a larger cell phone, I HAD to have another Otterbox! I had fewer choice of colors because of the timing - early December! But still, it's great!

I would also get a screen protector if you don't have one already because if you drop it and the screen hits something on the way down it could break.

Back is solid so the move of the Apple logo on the back of the SE to the middle doesn't show at all in the wrong spot. I had this style case for my old iPhone and was sure it would offer decent protection to my new phone. My new Commuter case fits great, and I like that the “hole” in the back (in previous models to display the phone’s logo was removed from this style. It was a little difficult to put on, so I would not recommend this to someone who likes switching between cases. I do wish it came in more colors than all black, ballet slipper pink, and aqua. Unfortunately I put my phone in my jeans pocket once and dye transferred onto the pink case. This never happened with my old case, which was dark purple and hot pink.

A story I like to tell about my old Defender case is that I was sitting on top of a Boeing 737 changing out a VHF antenna and my phone slid out of my pocket and fell to the ground. For reference, that's a long dang way. It was somehow just fine, and I kept using it for four more years. These days, working in an office requires the less-beefy Commuter case, and this is my second one. They're light, tough and add some necessary depth and grip to the too-thin phone so my dumb gorilla hands can actually hold it. My only gripe is that Apple moved the logo on the iPhone SE, so now the little round vanity window on the back just shows a bare patch of glass. I don't care too much, but if you're into showing off, take that under advisement. Anyhow, A+++++ would drop off airplane again.

I was expecting the back to have a hole as advertised, but the case I received did not have the hole, this is fine. The indigo color is really nice. After putting my phone in, when I tried to remove the case, it was so tightly fit that I was afraid I would end up bending the outer shell. After a few more times, I managed to remove the outer shell. Overall, this is a good product.

The Commuter case was still going strong on my previous phone - after 5 years or so it had completely protected my phone from multiple drops on tile floors. So, when I recently purchased a new cell phone, there was no doubt I would be purchasing a Commuter Series case to protect it. It was a good thing I did because the day after putting the cover on my phone (perfect fit, BTW), it slipped out of the front pocket of my shorts & fell to the ground in a parking lot! The phone suffered zero damage - even the screen which was not otherwise protected. My only suggestion would be to offer it in additional colors. The black, navy, minty green, or pink ones being offered did not appeal to me. That said, now that I have it, the navy cover is fine, but I wish they had more color options such as gray, red, green, etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well, many good features, assembly unclear I ordered this instead of the version with water resistance because it was noted to buffer sound, and I have hearing aids as is. I'm Very pleased with it. Nice appearance (pink). Hubby had to help put it on my phone because instructions were not easily visible and a cryptic drawing. The hard back and rubbery front are separable pieces. Take them apart, put rubbery one on phone, then hard case over that. It's well designed for iPhone 7. Also, I like that the charging port has a flip-cover because mine got dirt in it and stopped recharging. I do tend to drop my phone, so this is good protection. And it is still streamlined enough for pocket or purse.

I especially like how slim it is and the hard plastic makes it easy to slide in and out of a pocket in tight pants. Pair it with a tempered glass screen and you’ve got all around protection and no reduction in screen quality or touch function.

Remove the case, and it looks like a brand new phone. Excellent phone coverage. Protecting your investment is easy with an Otterbox phone case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just in time I have never dropped my phone before (Aside from small drops from like the arm of the couch which is no big deal. Yesterday was my first big drop. I had just put the case on and had it placed on my handrail for a quick second and my kid decided to give it a nudge off the handrail. Watched it fall a whole flight of stairs onto tile. I thought the phone and case would be done for sure but not a scratch. Phone was good and so was the case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not too heavy of a case but good protection Wish there were more color options. Indigo is a very dark blue color easily confused with black in dark lighting. Case is not as heavy as defender line of cases. Secure for phone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits, but needs to be updated for the new SE Case works and since the three phones are all the same form factor, I can see why they just added the new SE into the list of models that this case will work with. Not sure if they will ever make a new design that allows the logo to be shown in the center of the phone and that annoy the people who use those pop things, but it doesn’t really bother me, I’m not using the phone to advertise and I don’t attach the pop up to the back. One thing that was a concern is that this case does NOT come with that thin plastic film to cover your screen. The commuter case for the iPhone 6 always came with this, but they don’t supply it anymore. It’s their way of suggesting to buy the glass cover in addition to the case, which is very expensive. Keep this in mind so you are not surprised like I was when I did not see the thin plastic film for the screen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Protective Case I was sure I'd like this case. I actually had one of these but the opening in the back, but I didn't like the way it looked on the SE (2nd gen) phone. This updated style is much nicer in my opinion. And the same look and protection, otherwise. Otterbox cases have been on all of my smartphones since I first owned one in 2013. Never had any issues with the cases and my phones have all stayed in like-new condition throughout ownership. Excellent products, I highly recommend them.

However coming back to OtterBox has been the best decision. This case will last a long time and do the job of protecting your phone. A must buy!

Slight scratch to phone and case - that’s it! However, when I bought my new case for the new SE, the hole for the Apple logo is not in correct place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why would you ever buy any other case? I don’t care what anyone says about the otter boxes not looking “cool” I’m not a sixth grader trying to fit in with the popular crowd. I’m a grown adult who just spent a whole paycheck on a phone because they’re stupid expensive these days and I want mine to last. 30-40 bucks for a case is a small price to pay for a thousand dollar phone lasting years and years without even the tiniest of cracks. I had my old iPhone for literally 4 years, took it hiking, biking, running, dropped it a billion times, and was able to return it to apple for an 80 dollar refund on my new phone because it was still in perfect condition after all those year thanks to my otter box. I will never not buy one of these for my phone. People with their “cool” cases not lookin so cool with their cracked to pieces screens. Thank you, otter box, for allowing me to have a nice expensive phone and still be incredibly clumsy at the same time!

The one time I used another case that was given to me as a present was the only time the screen shattered when the phone was dropped. :( I recently purchased the 2020 iPhone SE and needed a new case. My phone sat in the box and waited for the OtterBox to arrive before I set up the phone! I purchased the light green case since aqua was not available and I needed the case right away.

I bought my most recent Commuter Series case for my new iPhone SE 2nd Gen. I know from past experience that the case will protect my new phone and I really like the rubbery feel on the sides of the case which helps me keep a grip on my phone..

The only funny thing is that the hole in the back of the case is supposed to show the apple symbol on the back of the phone, but with the SE, it is printed lower On the phone than the 7 and 8 so it is not visible. It does not affect the functionality of the case at all, just cosmetically. It took me a minute to get used to.

It’s a really cute case but it has started to turn blue just from being put into the back pocket of my jeans occasionally. We’ve tried a few different methods to try to get the denim color off of the pink rubber but nothing works. I wish I would’ve gotten a different color and may be a different case. I didn’t realize the commuter series no longer has a screen guard. So with all that in mind I do not think this case is worth the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits great, but Apple logo has moved on 2020 SE I searched for iPhone SE (2nd edition) on the Otterbox site, and then when the case arrived it had an "iPhone 7/8" sticker on the box. I knew it was the same shape/size as those models so I wasn't alarmed, and it does fit great. The only downside is Apple has moved the logo down to the center of the phone on the new SE model, so there's a circle on the back of the Otterbox case that just shows part of the blank back of the phone. It doesn't really both me, but it might be something to fix in future renditions of this case.

But I still keep buying them because it does keep my phone protected while its on and I like how it looks. I just wish the outter plastic shell didn’t always crack for me because I’ve had to buy several replacements.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works fine Works well. Only complaint is aesthetic. The case has a hole in the back where I guess the Apple logo is supposed to show through. The 2nd Gen SE’s logo is in a different location than the 7/8, so there is a useless hole in the case if installed on an SE.

The case has been on the 5C 3 years. Never had any issues. Purchased both cases on line sight unseen. The indigo is perfect for the new red phone. They are rugged cases but certainly not unattractive. Now I can leave the house with my new phone and not worry about breaking it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snug fit It was tough to get on my iPhone 8 .... and is a very snug fit. I had a Mophie before that was heavy, and this is not. It is a good barrier in case I drop it, as it's thick in the right places. And it's easy enough to use the buttons on the phone.

My only complaint this time is that the apple on back of phone has moved down on phone and so now the circle on back is just blank and looks a little odd.

With the Defender, I really never doubted that my i5S would survive a fall. Now, with the Commuter, that fear is more real. I must add, however, that the touch sensitivity on the latter OB product is better, to the extent that I can use a stylus again. It is a trade-off; one that I am happy to explore.

My poor phone gets dropped by mistake, picked up by our dog, etc. I noticed a tiny crack in the case the other day and decided to replace after two years. My phone is in great shape and I know it will continue to be as long as Otter Box is on the job! The commuter is low profile enough the slide into the pouch on my running shorts but protects my phone like nothing else!

Took a bit of getting used to have two parts to the case, and can be a lol tricky getting the hard and soft parts of the case to fit together. Also the part that covers the charging port can be a bit difficult to hold open while inserting the charger. Otherwise, it’s perfect and a decent price too.

But the Outer Box case has saved my phone from everything from multiple drops on cement to dropping it in the toilet. The plug at the bottom makes it waterproof. It feels good in your hand, it’s sturdy & it’s attractive… I cannot say enough great things about this case. Thank You OtterBox!!!!
