At first I thought it was me not closing it enough, but found that wasn't the case when it kept happening. Then I put ugly electrical tape on it to hold it together, but want confident in that solution, so ended up buying a different AirTag holder. A lot of money for something that doesn't do its job. Usually I like otterbox products (I have abd have had a few otterbox iPhone cases over the years), so was particularly disappointed with this AirTag case.

I paid the extra money for an OtterBox AirTag case assuming it would offer the most durable protection. Unfortunately, it’s an inherently useless product, as it doesn’t do its one job.

It became unscrewed several times, and I had to hunt down the AirTag. The last occurrence the back was lost - the case is now useless! Very disappointed with what I thought was a promising product.

Found the airtag and the other side of the case, reattached and tightened as tight as we could. Fell apart again from dog shaking his neck. We love Otterbox products, but DO NOT BUY THIS!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No a fan I love everything OtterBox. My whole family has OtterBox and life proof cases. But these things I’m not a fan of. I’ve had mine for a little over a year. It would always unscrew and open, I was constantly checking it so the AirTag wouldn’t fall out. Out of nowhere it just stopped opening. So I was happy………until I tried opening it again . It’s stuck. I’m sure it’s nothing a knife can’t handle but now ima mess it up :( maybe the sleek pop in ones would probably be better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge Disappointment, So Much So That I Threw It Ou I purchased this particular key ring because I trust the brand OtterBox, but based on how lousy this one item is I don't think I'll ever buy another OtterBox product ever again. I've had it a couple of weeks and the case has unscrewed itself over 5 times and I've found myself scrambling to pick up the pieces and my air tag from the ground, from the bottom of my bag, from inside my pocket... Finally just threw it out because it's not worth the risk of losing the AirTag. Total garbage. Not sure how anyone can give this a positive review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very disappointed I was given an airtag and Otter Rugged case at Christmas. Less than 4 weeks later it has come open twice and the airtag fallen out. Once at home where it was found where my car had been parked and again but it was still in my pocket. I can't work out how to tighten the case to keep it in. This is in UK - the UK site does not have anywhere for reviews. Apple store were not interested as it is not an Apple product although bought there. I cannot trust it and have stopped using it. It is NOT cheap so this should not happen.

It’s been months of trying and destroying this case in every way we can thing and it will not come off my AirTag. Absolutely hate this thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from worse should have read the reviews before purchasing this, but. never had any issues with any other otterbox products, but I had same issue all the bad reviews say, the screw on cover, does not stay closed, first time use, on hike, cover came unscrewed and I lost my AirTag, so then I went online to do warranty replacement and the AirTag cover/case is not on product list, so then I tried chat, and it was unavailable, and then I called, placed on hold for 30 min, so hung up, but since everyone else complained about the screw on lid does not stay closed, it sounds like it is manufacture defect and needs to be changed to maybe a snap together or something else

I had one of my cases unscrew on the first day, fortunately I was able to locate my air tag using the app, so glad I hadn't actually lost what it was attached to. Since I've lost all trust in this piece of garbage I've been trying to get my other airtag out of the other case, and this one will simply NOT unscrew. I'm now in a situation where I don't trust the case enough to use it, but can't get the airtag out so I can just throw it away. I bought my first Otter case nearly 20 years ago, but unfortunately this will be my last Otter product. Too much other better stuff out there now.

She's on a school trip with about 100 other kids (with identical backpacks, so being able to find hers if lost was a big deal. She's also "rough and tumble" with her equipment, so I wanted something that would be durable enough to survive a 14 year old. Everything worked out well and the air tag remained protected through multiple bus trips and museum tours!

I have had a couple of the easily available Apple Airtag keychains that were low cost, but they all failed to protect the airtag and I have had many get damaged. This Otterbox case has been the first to be able to withstand the drops and falls that have damaged others tags. I can highly recommend this AirTag case as I have used quite a few and this is the first to actually protect the airtag. Will be buying more of these for friends and families

Why include two rings that are the same thickness? Using a cheap, normal key ring to attach to fobs. Hopefully it stays together, but not encouraged by these reports of unscrewing/not unscewing...

I really like the design for this case, it protects my AirTags and gives me the option to mount them anywhere due to the keychain ring. I recommend them for any type of AirTag use!

I trusted the good reviews, but this case not only has fully popped open on multiple occasions (thankfully inside a bag so I didn't lose the air tag) even though I make sure to tighten it when I put it in. The chain it comes with has also already gotten really scratched up from just everyday use inside my bag. Really disappointing and not worth the price at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable! This airtag case secures the airtag inside of it well. I’ve had others that would come loose. Protects the edges in case you drop it. I would like to see the carabiner have a locking mechanism. Overall, it does what it’s designed to do with no frills.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough Case for an AirTag I got this case for an AirTag that is being used to track our luggage. I'm not saying that flying isn't great these days, but you know.... The AirTag fits very snuggly into the holder and is held in place by a backing holder that screws tightly in. It is surrounded on its perimeter very robustly by the case. The case itself has a tight clasp that also connects to an easier to open carbiner. To me this is perfect. You can throw the entire thing into your suitcase and then attach the tag with the carbiner to your backpack as you are out and about. A real "must have" travel accessory.

I bought an AirTag Rugged Case last month for my dog since she was flying with us to the east coast. We've used Otterbox for our other devices with good results, but this plastic ring is trash. It had managed to unscrew a couple of times, the final ending up with a lost back ring and tag (which appears to have been lost in the street... we could watch it make it's way to the landfill several days later). I called Otterbox and their remedy is to replace it "for free" with a $10 shipping and handling fee... for an item that retails for $20. Save your money and time - avoid this piece of crap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Won’t stay together This case WILL NOT stay on. The twist aspect of the case keeps unscrewing every time I put it back together. I put my AirTag in the case, screw on the pieces, and put it on my keychain for its intended use. I’m not doing anything crazy it’s simply hanging from my keychain and it just keeps unscrewing and falling out. It has unscrewed multiple times now and my AirTag is all scratched up now because of it. I have even tried tightening as much as I can and it still will not stay together. I may consider getting another OtterBox AirTag case that may work better but as of right now I can’t trust their products to keep my devices safe

Absolutely impossible to open again to change the battery in the AirTag, meaning the (not cheap) AirTag had to be thrown in the trash.

I originally had a plain silicone case for my AirTag and noticed that I still managed to get little scratches all over my AirTag. After i switched to the rugged case, I can honestly say that it provides better protection and my air tag feels more secure on my key chain now.

Unfortunately, this came unscrewed in less than a week and the case is now useless and my AirTag is gone. I would recommend going back to the drawing board and engineering this so that once it's closed, it can't come open unless the user intends to open it.

For me it’s too tight and seems impossible to unscrew and replace a battery when needed. I have tried at length to get my AirTag out, but seems like whenever the battery dies both the case and AirTag will be worthless. The case itself is nice but I just think there are better options.

This case is awesome it durable it won’t break if I accidentally drop it. Love that it comes with a clip easy to add to my keys. Definitely recommend getting one of these if you have an air tag.

I am rough on items in my pocket (hitting corners or laying on them and this items does not get in the way. Very simple and does the job

SUPER FLIMSY.even the rim is otter material and ok ..THE HOOK SEEMS THE ONLY THING I WOULD RECOMMEND I like that it is durable ...WHAT HAPPENED HERE WITH THIS PART THAT THE TAG GOES IN??????? MY AIR TAG DOES FIT CORRECT HOWEVER IT JUST FALLS OUT EASY AND BECOMES UNscrewed... AT THE BOTTOM I like the logo and I do truly love this brand ...I HAVE PURCHASED SEVERAL OTTER BRAND RUGGED CASES FOR My APPLE ELECTRONICS AND ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM this one was not up to otter standards in my opinion

I purchased this to protect my dog's AirTag and provide me with peace of mind should she ever get loose. "Rugged" case fell apart within 1/2 mile of my house on a walk with dog on leash. Tried again with dog in yard, thinking perhaps I didn't secure the case properly the first time. Nope - came off in the yard. I would not recommend this product for securing your AirTag.

Nearly lost my airtag. They call it rugged, and you pay extra for that, but it is the exact opposite. Otter, you are losing your reputation with this. Within 10 days they had come open on their own 5 times and dropped the air tags so I had to back track and look for them. These Air Tag holders can't even just stay closed. They are not comparable to other Otterbox products.

To do so you need to pull a tab on your AirTag, well I can’t get the case actually off the AirTag so that’s fun.

I used the xxx for my motorcycle keys and in a short time I lost my new airtag that is now broken on a highway trampled by vehicles and I was left with half of a useless key ring apparently the sealing is imperfect and fragile to vibration

The only reason I even still have the AirTag is because it’s attached to my keys, which I always put in my bag (the AirTag is meant to cover for the times I forget or if the keys fall out of my bag). I trusted OtterBox because of my positive experience with its protective cases for iPhones and iPads. It seems I shouldn’t have extended my faith that far. Looking for a replacement AirTag case made by some other company.

Thankfully found the case cap and airtag the next day, but it unscrewed itself YET AGAIN through simple general use. This case is FAR from rugged, and it seems I'm not the only person who thinks so. We don't trust it enough to use again, so we have an airtag that we cannot use. I bought this on the apple store, so we were super disappointed that the quality was so sub-par.

Two different users, one who carried keys all the time and one who carried keys maybe twice a week. Both had to quit suing the case after a couple of days. I bought 5 of these and can't use them. I have been very satisfied with Otterbox products in the past, but this one just doesn't work.

Only to be disappointed with the quality of the device. I didn't think I'd have to think twice about the quality of Otter Box, however with a case holding a small air tag, this is really important. I've lost my Air tag three times which is really frustrating... disappointed about my purchase.

The AirTag is very secure within the case and it is a a bit bulkier to protect the AirTag when it is either on my keys or on my dogs collar.

Attached it to my dog's collar. Day two, part A: "Honey, I just found these lying on the floor of basement." It was the screw on cover for the Rugged case and my dog's AirTag. Day two, part B: Inserted AirTag into the OtterBox "Sleek" case that I bought just in case the Rugged failed to perform. Three weeks later: AirTag is still snug its Sleek case and hanging around my dog's neck. The Rugged case is currently holding an AirTag in the pocket of my backpack.

Considering the reviews stating similar problems why does Otterbox continue selling this product. I’m going to complain to Apple. Something for Otterbox to consider; I used your product to track my dogs. What if I was a parent using these to track my young child in case we got separated and your product failed. I want a refund and an apology. Hopefully Apple will be in touch with your company.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't bother Like many others, the retaining ring came unscrewed and the AirTag fell out. Luckily, I found the ring and the tag. When it kept unscrewing, I screwed it on as tight as I could. More than a year later, need to change the battery. Retaining ring won't budge, not even with pliers. Otterbox is sending me a replacement, but I'm wary of using it. Not up to the quality of other Otterbox products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't stayed screwed in I put it on my dog in advance of a road trip. Stopped at a rest stop and hit the road again and received a notice that I had left my "dog" behind. Aka the airtag had already unscrewed from the container within two days of us having it. Fortunately it was only a 15 min drive back to the rest stop to secure the airtag. I immediately submitted a return request and bought cheaper silicone ones off of Amazon that have worked much better.

I’ve only had the case for less than three hours and the screw is already coming done twice. Don’t waste your money I would not recommend this product.

Placed two separate orders on the same day, and the refund was issued without any notice. Sent me scrambling to find another option. Why accept the order if you don’t have the stock? An “otter” waste of time and last time I will do business with them.

Lost the airtag as someone ended up stealing it and left with half a cover. Lucky my dog wasn’t lost as I would never have found her. do not buy this case if you want to keep your belongings safe, it unscrews and the airtag falls out. If i could give it zero stars i would

Once you install your Apple AirTag in this case, You will have the hardest time trying to remove the AirTag so you can replace the battery. I feel so bad for the people who have purchased this case for their AirTag.

It was easy to setup - simply unscrew the circular insert and then place the airtag in the outer circular piece and screw the inner circular part on top. It seems to be durable and well made. I have a lot of keys on my keychain, and I haven't had any issues with the airtag case unscrewing or coming loose. So far so good, and it looks cool too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the case Just like any other otterBox merchandise I love this one too. It give the AirTag a cool look as well as protects it. The AirTag definitely needed the case for that extra protection. I recommend this little case if you have AirTags you need one of these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Once screwed impossible to unscrew I have put the Airtag in and then twisted the lock. Now I think unless I break it, it will be impossible to remove the Airtag. Until I have not seen seen this reviews I thought I was going mad.. quite disappointing.

I have one on my dog’s collar so I would use a slimmer case for my dog and add this otter box for my keys. Very sturdy and I think it could take on a lot of damage, considering it would be on my keys.

He works in a maintenance position so he needs something durable to hold his airtag attached to his keys and this is a super durable little case. So glad we got this!
