Express Server delivers on-line analytical processing (OLAP) with capabilities that include forecasting, what-if scenarios, and financial modeling. Based on a multidimensional data model, Express Server is optimized for the query and analysis of corporate data - such as sales, marketing, financial, manufacturing, or human resource data.
The Express data model ensures that end users can efficiently analyze data, in structured or ad hoc fashion, without requesting special programs or reports from Information Systems (IS) personnel. Relational access capabilities allow multidimensional OLAP (MOLAP) configuration, where all data is staged in Express Server; relational OLAP (ROLAP) configuration, where data is fetched from the RDBMS at run-time; or a hybrid configuration, where some data is stored in a multidimensional cache and some is stored in the relational data warehouse or data mart.
