Although I was disappointed that the newest firmware updates are removing some functionalities, I am happy that the product accepts firmware downgrade without complex procedures. I hope it will last long enough.

It worked for a day and then stopped. I reset it and its been working fine ever since. The only thing that bothers me is I can't access the nighthawk app because it tried to route me through the setup router process and I don't want to mess anything up now that it's working so I just won't use the app and sign in through the dashboard. I'd love to try more Netgear products!

The WiFi speed and stability are great, especially on the 5GHz band, and setup was quick and easy. It handles multiple devices smoothly, and the USB ports are a nice bonus for sharing drives. The only downsides are its bulky size and slightly dated interface, plus it’s not WiFi 6, so it’s showing its age a bit. Still, for a WiFi 5 router, it’s powerful, reliable, and great value for the price.

When the same brand that I had began to lose connection, I decided to try to hook up the unused router. The got no help from customer service because the router STILL IN TH BOX was out of warranty. I was offered a chance to extend the warranty for $99. I declined, choosing to put that money toward a router that would be already in warranty.

I spoke with a friend and found out it was the eero routers they gave me with my package. I found this router at a goodwill and hooked it up. It was easy after going to the website and finding the admin password and username. Very simple set up and zero issues with my internet afterwards. I definitely recommend this product if your cable providers internet drops a lot. It helps with lag issues and outages. I am using it as a bypass but it does the job perfectly.

Set up was a breeze and being able to control the Nighthawk with my browser was really nice. The menu is clean and easy to navigate. I was able to make my connections really secure without any real networking knowledge.

I handles everything we have connected, and more. I really like the signal strength for both 2G and 5G bands, it lacks nothing. Setup is a breeze. I have a lot of IT knowledge, so I could set it up without the app, but with the app pretty much anyone with the ability to read can set up the Nighthawk. So if you are in need of a home or office Wi-Fi system (pretty much everybody these days) you won't go wrong with the Netgear Nighthawk.

Software VPN’s (as in “apps”) are fine but can be slow if the streaming hardware doesn’t have a fast processor. Hardware VPN’s are in general much faster, and the r7000 doesn’t disappoint. I increased my download speeds by 300% when installing my VPN service on the r7000, and am very happy with it so far. YMMV.

I attempted to set it up and couldn’t get it connected to the wifi network. The online directions weren’t the best, even downloaded the app, nothing. I gave up for a couple of months. While cleaning it, I saw the tiny reset button, found a pin and reset it. I immediately was able to connect the router and it works way better than the wifi company’s router. No disruptions thus far, consistent stream. We finished like a champ.

Worked very well and allowed me uninterrupted connection to the internet (minus any issues with the ISP and electricity). The router had a function that allows you to connect a separate USB hard drive to it and to be able to access it outside your home. I loved this feature, but sometimes it didn't work. So ehen I tried getting access to photos and files, I had issues. Otherwise it would be a 5 star review.

At first I thought I bought a “lemon” cause it wasn’t connecting even after I did a hard reset on it. But after looking up the support on the Netgear website, I figured out how to dial into the router and reset it that way. Now everything is up and running with the router and hasn’t been a problem since. The speed is really good throughout the house and I haven’t ran into any slow speed yet. Netgear products are very good in my opinion.

It wouldn’t reconnect to the new modem. After 5 days and 2 technicians later, we replaced the router. My advice is, don’t reset the router, as it will not reconnect.

I decided to bring this unit back to life and to my surprise, after a manual firmware upgrade, it was even made compatible with the Nighthawk app, I miss the remote management feature, but was most likely no longer safe and ended up replaced by Anywhere Access, which is limited, but at least something.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Router never worked I've had the router for years after my dad bought it before he died. I was fairly certain it would have been an upgrade from our current router. I tired setting it up through the app multiple times, that only working once, but due to an error I made in the setup process and not being able to back-track in the app, I had to reset the router and start over. It continued to fail to setup from that point on. Tried setup on PC twice, and all times I couldn't get it to connect to the internet despite my cables being in the right spots and working with my previous router. I eventually gave up on installing. I may try again in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nighthawks are my favorite! I've used several iterations of the Nighthawk for business purposes with remote setups, and have always enjoyed their strength and reliability. Just put in a R7000 at my home for the dual band, allowing me to set a number of smart devices that require a 2.4ghz connection on a separate WAP. Everything is easily managed via their app or standard IP login. The range is ridiculous, reaching the furthest corner of my garage from its install location in the basement, with full bars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hoping its just old I have had this router for several years and it seemed to be working well until i downloaded the app and did an update on it. Now i am having nothing but issues with messages popping upball of the time that wifi is connected but no internet. I do have internet so that is not the issue. I have reset modem and router several times and it works well for a day or so then it happens again. I am hoping it is because it is an older model and i need to upgrade to a newer one. Perhaps too many devices are connected to it and this version cannot handle the traffic. This was a good product for years but i believe it is simply time to replace.

You can use a laptop or cellphone over the app they offer. The app doesnt install it so you need to manually search on google for the netgear link. Then it runs amazing after the firmware update. Would of given it 5 stars except they didn't fix the issue and its a hassle to update manually.

I had no problems setting up my Nighthawk with the app. Instructions were clear and options for dealing with glitches worked! We’ve been using this router for over two weeks now and it has greatly improved streaming capabilities. Would recommend to anyone needing to upgrade their router.

Streaming on TV seems better and less drop outs than before. Signal strength throughout the house is better as well. The Netgear app is also helpful.

I continue to buy this R7000 model because it provides the most and flexible features with Advanced functions. It took me a little time to figure out choosing between Bridging and Repeating modes. But once it works, it is always robust to connect!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unanticipated "curves" in learning... I was surprised to find a non-standard firewall in this product, but see how the NETGEAR approach can work. Blocking access to new devices - after all mine have been connected and "Allowed" - is a good approach. However, the "Armor" that is intended to protect my router and all things behind it on my side of the "firewall" - is not optimal IMHO. Having an external (internet side) "guardian" - which might be turned towards political ends (like censorship) and which is placed outside my control - is a nagging suspicion. I believe that someone may have gotten through my router into my network already as well, but that is an ongoing investigation.

My speeds drop and my signal was in somewhere in the garbage. Buttt after doing some research I figured I’d try a new router and possible solve my problems. I am on a budget with a child on the way so finding the a router with a good price tag was important. After many clicks and and many forums I finally came to the conclusion to buy the NIGHTHAWK (R7000. After the super easy installation I found that my speeds were back and I could finally game and have multiple devices running again. Now I’m more excited then ever to come home and relax with my wife with no internet stress on my shoulders. Thank you all so much :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup I bought the R7000 last week. The setup was simple, reused my current WiFi name and password. All of our devices connected seamlessly and we have gained a stronger WiFi signal in any location of our home. I went out to the garage to see if the WiFi signal was better and it was. The garage location is approximately 120’ from the base and goes through multiple walls. We have also noticed the we can download faster than our old equipment. We used to have issues while watching movies but since the change there has been no problems, even while running multiple devices.

I bought this and was delighted to see speeds of approx 320mbps on both my wired connections as well as my wireless connections! I did not expect the wifi to work so well! this router is awesome . I recommend it highly and already bought the same one for my daughter!

I bought this router 6 months ago and we always have issues with connectivity. so tonight I got an ethernet cable to connect my computer to the router and I no longer have wifi and even now the ethernet cable isn't even working. the only way to get help is to pay more money! don't waste your money!!!

There are days that it does this several times a day. I am in school online. I have timed tests that I have to take. It has cut off in the middle of my tests a few times. Customer support is lousy. They give you 14 days unless you want to pay almost what you did for the router to get their “extended coverage. I won’t be buying another router from them again. This one is going in the garbage!

Did some research and asked a few questions. This one brought me MUCH more download speed as well as a new app I didn’t have before. The app is easy to use and has a built in firewall for any connected device. Pretty neat!

I’ll reboot it, it will work for a little while and then drop again. I was in the middle of taking a test online, and it disconnected. I’ve had to reboot it 5 to 6 times within the hour. For the amount of money this costs, this is ridiculous. I highly recommend not purchasing this router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DON’T BUY!!!! I bought this a little over a year ago so I come to find out if you don’t pay extra for support service, there’s no way to get answers to any issues. A few month ago it started to randomly disconnect from the internet. I called my internet service provider to complain. Spectrum is my provider. They came out and replaced the entire line from the street to my new modem. The tech said there aren’t any issues with their end and recommended a new router if problems continue. The random disconnections continued and got worse. We now lose service nightly from 8pm to 11pm, while watching movies, games, or kids homework. I’ve started to reset the router before it goes out but if I forget, I hear it from everyone in the house when it goes. I’ll be buying a new mesh type system and hopefully that will take care of it. Don’t buy this router, you have been warned!!

Eventually it starts failing, it keeps dropping wifi signal and works only after rebooting. Sometimes the reboot had to be done every 5 min. We have only had it for a little pass a year. Now, we had to spend money on another one(which is the exact same) but this time we made sure we boughy guarantee.

I have a Google cell phone but I could not access play store to get the app. I returned the AC1900 to Best Buy and bought an AC1200. Much cheaper and I was able to set it up using Microsoft app. Why Netgear decided to only use Google is beyond me.The AC1200 is working great and meets my needs.

I have been able to connect my other devices to this network on my own. It has been trial and error, the error part was my fault always. I would recommend this WiFi Router to my family.

Even on WiFi I will get about 300-500mbps on the 2.4 band and about 600-700 on the 5 band. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is the range was a bit shorter than I thought for WiFi.

I also like that they do updates from time to time. I got this model of the router to upgrade from my other Nighthawk that didn’t have as much range. I definitely notice a difference in the range and would highly recommend.

My previous modem and router were several years older than this one so I was anticipating better and more consistent connectivity with this unit. However, that has not yet been realized. I don’t know the reason. I received on-site support from my ISP technician who tested incoming signal strength, signal to and through the Netgear cable modem, and who installed and setup the router. Together we tested the network performance before he left my house. But since he left (it’s been a couple weeks my internet connection has been slow and inconsistent. Definitely there has been no improvement over my previous equipment and I am considering restoring my setup to its previous configuration as a way to test and troubleshoot the problems.

It easily handles everything I have connected to it, including streaming services such as Disney and Netflix and others. My 60" television has a connection, as well as two desktop computers and two laptops. Our cell phones work flawlessly -- even when the children and their children are here and have all their phone connected to my home network. Love it!

Unfortunately, when setting it up we had a lot of issues and ended up on the phone for over an hour with tech support and finally got it turned on. Then we connected all of our devices to it only for it to lose internet connection every 5-10 minutes. It also had reviews saying it worked well for gaming, I’ve never lagged out of so many games in my lifeeee, overall just not impressed and we replaced it with Linksys and it’s much better

It kept saying my facial recognition was incorrect and when I manually entered my password it said it was incorrect too. Called customer service to help, was able to set everything up by opting out of using the app. Then said I had to respond to a confirmation email within 24 hours of the setup. Never received the email to confirm and now the router stops working every night and requires a reboot. Other than that... it works great throughout our 3000sqft house!

My old Cisco used it for 5 years but was out dated. The night hawk was suppose to be the up grade. Great disappointment. Just my luck I guess.

The only thing is that it gets pretty hot on the bottom. I wish it had some sort of pod underneath that would keep it from getting so hot as I’m scared it might eventually be too much. Ive had it for about 6 months, no problems and I can play PC, Xbox, oculus, and nintendo switch with maximum quality.

I thought it would improve dropoff of sigmal through my 1800 sq foot 2 stiry house but it the same as what it was before wiith the old router. I was having problem getting signal in 2 back rooms, so I purchased a Netgear extender, and the problem was solved. Have had no issues at all which is a miracle with electronic devices!

It took me a little while to access the router as I was using an outdated browser, but once I switched browsers I had no further issues. I went with the Nighthawk for two reasons: one, it’s netgear and I’ve always preferred netgear. And two this is a great dual bandwidth router. A lot of my devices in the house such as Alexa require the 2.4 but others just run more efficiently on the 5 like our phones and iPads. This seems to be the way to go. There’s not so much buffering going on now that the bandwidth is split. “So far, so good”

Then in a span of a year I had a 48 port switch die (only a year old) and then this router which ran fine till about 6 months in. Now it routinely reboots. Range is diminished and speeds not good. It has shaken my belief in Netgear. Keep waffling on whether to replace only because doc added expense and whether I’ll get a good one this time.

Had some initial connection drops, not sure if they were due to my ISP or not. When we moved to a new home where they included internet, we were unable to use out C6250 anymore so I bout this R7000 nighthawk and have been super impressed. I was worried about reception in our two story concrete home but we get it all the way upstairs to our sons Roku device and it works great. We really love the parental controls as well. Also working from home for over eight months I have a ton of sensitive data I would never want exposed. My computers, (personal and work) seemed to be dragging so I felt it was time. I researched and read the reviews on this and was impressed. I had it setup within15 minutes and then connected the rest of my toys up to it. Wow! No more weak security, no more dragging internet, and the increase in speed was amazing! I am one happy Netgear Nighthawk WiFi Router owner!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best purchase of 2020! 4390 sq fr house, 8-14 devices connected at any given time including playstations, tvs, phones, security cams, etc. Before Nighthawk, I had to reset my modem 4-6x per day. I’ve now owned this router for 3 weeks and have yet to have to restart or reset. All devices have worked flawlessly. And I could not be happier. After having such disappointing WiFi for so long, I only wish I had heard about this router 2 years ago. Lol. Won’t be disappointed if you purchase this router.

Easy set-up connection to my cable modem. Very happy with the AC1900 (2 weeks since purchase and set-up).

So speeds despite the app saying I can stream 4k play video games etc etc all at the same time. As soon as I finally get my laptop connected the smart tv seems to drop out. The smart connect feature between 2.4 and 5 g clearly isn't so smart. Don't buy this

It should also be noted that I’m not the least bit technologically inclined.. from the time I opened the box until now, this Nighthawk AC1900 has been fantastic. My ATT standard equipment didn’t put out much of a signal at all and now I’m able to run many devices all at once, all at a great speed. The app made setup so easy I thought there had to be something I missed. This is a 10/10 and I’d recommend it to everyone.

The auto change between 2.4 and 5 mhz has been nice, especially with the newer devices that can handle it. Lots of settings and control for guest/private networks. The parental control are a nice feature, if you need it. The Nighthawk app is sweet when new devices come online with notifications. Biggest thing I have to do is backup my settings, in case of a long power failure. Learned that the hard way.

So we asked one of our tech relatives what to get and he said this router had very good coverage. We got it. Extremely easy to set up. It was no more than 15 minutes from start to finish, including the unboxing. Coverage, including a Roku device on a TV, has been great. There’s no lag, even on the Roku. Highly recommended.

At first it was a challenge working with the setup process but after I got comfortable with it, in the future things will be easier. I like the speed on it because I never have to worry about a slow connection. If my family ever does zoom there is no slowing. I don’t even know what it’s like to experience a connection issue cause I never had a time when I was disconnected! After that started dipping as low as 30/30,then sometimes back to full speed... Dealt with my isp to figure out it wasn't my connection, then isp tells me my router is busted... Tried factory resets, different firmware versions. Always the same problem.... Switched the netgear firmware to dd wrt aftermarket firmware and have 800 down and 690 up.... Great quality router plagued by tons of firmware bugs and bloat

I have an older router that easily gets 600mbps without any special configuration. I spent several days trying to get this device to work correctly and in the end it looks like poor firmware has made this unit worthless. Stay clear of this router!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Router for our needs Our family recently cut the cord and went to streaming TV service, however the modem/router given by Suddenlink was not nearly powerful enough to handle the demand not get anywhere near Gigavit speeds even hardwired. This router has been able to handle the WIFI demand we needed as well as the wired needs. Overall, could be better at getting Gigabit speed or even close to it via wired. But it does what was most needed very well which is better WIFI.

We knew we’d need a router that could not only handle the dramatic speed increase (from 10 to 250 mbps download speed) but could also provide reliable, quick accessibility between 2 work at home parents, 2 remote learning children, and all other devices (phones, echo dots, blu ray player). Setup was quite easy and the related app features are great. Special hanks to the Best Buy associate who helped me pick the right router. Definitely worth it.

Our old R7000 was about 3 years old and was dropping the connection or bogging down a couple times a week I always had to reboot to clear the issue. So after talking to a Best Buy guru I purchased a new one in hopes of getting a more stable connection. Well the first week was great faster speeds and no rebooting until Saturday morning when the orange light came on and it was reboot time. With the wife working from home now and both boys remote with college studies I am really hoping that having to reboot the router does not become an issue.

I have the same devices on it as I did my xfinity router the only difference is it’s not trying to go out just from opening a game on 3 PS4’s. I also use the armor feature that helps prevent DDOSing and unwanted hackers getting into things. I absolutely love how it’s able to monitor so many things at once and help give me complete control over my internet. You can use guest mode to allow guests access to your WiFi but also have them unable to access your connected devices. You also can help monitor what you’re kids can and cannot do while also setting alloyed internet screen time through the Netgear Nighthwak app. It’s simple to use and gives me complete access to every device, internet speed test, Netgear armor, access anywhere, internet traffic meter, and even total control over what is on 2.5G and 5G or automate it.

When I upgraded my modem with our local internet supplier the representative told me that I also needed to get a more capable router to accommodate the amount of devices we would be using on the wireless router. I went to a national Technology store to find the best wireless router to fit our needs. After talking to an associate at the store he immediately handed me the NIGHTHAWK AC1900. When I got home, the set up couldn’t have been easier and my family could see the immediate impact. We currently have 2 phones, 2 laptops, thermostat, echo show and 3 streaming sticks on the network.

I have combined a Nighthawk 8000 (primary router - downstairs) with my Nighthawk 7000 (repeater - upstairs) and I have given my two story, 3000 sf home great WIFI coverage. It required me to run 150 feet of ethernet cable to connect the two routers but the work to pull the cable and the performance I am experiencing was worth the effort.

Also setting up the WiFi on both 2.4G and 5G spectrums was easy and coverage great for 1700sqft. . Added security features took a little longer to configure, but worth the extra efforts. App could be improved; it is a limited to basic configuration

I no longer have to get an extender because this works well. The speed is twice as fast as before. The sleek and unique design is a plus. Lastly, the app features many options to help you take full control of your wifi!

Comcast upgraded our speed when we renewed but we found it strange that that we kept getting dropped signal from our best cam. A friend recommended we try to upgrade our modem router, and we are happy we did. No more dropped security footage and the speed is incredible. Wish we would have upgraded to this sooner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Out performed my expectations ten fold I recently moved into a new home and decided to purchase the Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi router instead of going with the traditional router provided by my ISP. I read lots of mixed reviews but ultimately decided this was the way to go. My wife and I just had a baby so to save on living cost we moved in with my sister-in-law and her boyfriend. I am an avid gamer and also a cable cutter so we stream all content. I needed a router that could maintain all 4 persons connections without compromising speed or latency. The Nighthawk router does just that and has out performed my expectations ten fold. Just the other night I was online gaming and we had 2 other TVs streaming with everyone in the house still connected on there phones and the connection worked flawlessly. I encourage anyone looking for a reliable device to buy this router. You won’t be sorry.

It permitted the computers to sign onto the network, but either by WiFi or by ethernet cable, the router would not connect to the internet modem. The modem was working; the old router connected fine.

The Nighthawk app made the installation simple. Although I use an extender because of multiple obstacles in the house, this is and continues to be my router of choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Frequently Lost Connection I bought this router on January 23, 2021 and lost the wifi connection a few times over the first couple months. I thought it was the location of the router until I started losing the internet connection on my desktop computer which was directly connected through the router and does not rely on wifi. Each time, I contacted my internet provider and they confirmed the internet modem and connection was good so the only thing causing the problem has to be the Netgear router. Here's the good part. I thought the unit had a 1 year warranty like most products, however, it only has a 90 day warranty so here I am 5.5 months after purchase stuck with this Netgear router. I can't even get technical support without paying money since I am past 90 days.

First guy (probably not US not interested, Probably his boss came on line and helped a little. I gave up and waited for next day. Called back and got some more advice, last try before file 13. Advised to get Xfinity to remotely remove a block in their modem. That took time but Xfinity very helpful. Called back to Nextgear and very helpful lady helped me finally get it sorted out and working. Good speed through router 58.7 download. Big improvement from my 4.3 old router. Upload is 5.7 which is not important to me. Just a small loss downloading going through xfinity modem but forgot that number. For what I use it for, it works. Not sure about range but my phone picks the wifi signal up from the road at about 150 ft. so I can open my garage door. Before had to almost get to house and right spot.

This one is only a few days old but it seems to be working well! We do have a few issues of it losing internet connection at night but other than that it reaches all of our TVs in the whole house! The 1750 worked great for us for 4 years, covered our 1700sq ft home with a full finished basement and never had a problem with our connection. This new was was supposed to work better according to the salesman but in the past week or so we can’t receive a signal about half the time. Wish we would have went a different route

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Saved me in a bad hotel I’m currently residing in a long stay hotel that has godawful wifi/Internet connection that rarely connects, and if it does connect, the internet provided is so unstable that it’s recognized as a virus on all my devices and redirects me to spam websites. I was losing my mind not being able to do my school work and actual online job, until I purchased this NetGear Router. Now I have a stable, constant internet connection at all times and can do as much work as I please, when I please. Truly saved me!! Plus the password protection makes it so that I have control of who can and can’t use the touter’s service at any given time, which both makes me feel safer and keeps the router from getting overwhelmed by devices by accident. It’s a god send!

I immediately began the search for the newest and best on the market and quickly found the NetGear Nighthawk R7000 at my local Best Buy. Within thirty minutes of finding it online I was already up and running, and on ONE router for the whole house! Kept dropping calls, connecting cutting in and out and the range was very limited. The night fixed all that in an instant. It’s very easy to set up I think it took me 10 mins or less to set up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Broke in less 1 yr but you’re stuck w subscription Super cheap. Turned electricity off to update something. It never came back on. Less than 1 yr old. Garbage. Tried different adapters. It’s the router. Make weird ticking noise now but no lights.

This router was easy to setup and has useful features including guest wifi. The trial of Armour/Bitdefender is appreciated.

The Nighthawk works perfectly with everything! I work from home and have no connectivity issues! Great product at a reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! What a difference! I bought this WiFi router on a recommendation from my brother. I was complaining about my internet lagging and having connection issues. I’m a huge game so these things can’t happen. After the easy hook up through the app, I did a sped check and my speed tripled from where I was with my old router. Gaming has been so much more enjoyable and I don’t miss a thing or glitch. Would highly recommend for anyone!

I have to reset it and wait several minutes until it’s back on line. I thinking of throwing it away and kissing my $180 goodbye. Too frustrating!
