I bought the Nighthawk in 2022 to stream internet tv but also because my daughter said the previous version I had been using wasn't secure enough. She's a tech person so I trusted her judgement but also trusted Netgear to give me a long-lasting product. The only reason I went with 4 stars instead of 5 is that I wasn't able to get a hold of a technician after the 90 days had past without buying an extended support package. All I needed to know was the wi-fi pass code which wasn't the same as the password on the bottom of the router. The actual router itself works fine and my internet guy who hooked it up when he hooked up the internet tv seemed to have no trouble installing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mixed Results I have been using a router that's less than half as expensive as this Netgear AX3000 WiFi Router and was getting about 200 mbps download and about 6 mbps upload speeds. When I switched the Netgear router and set it all up, the download speed increased to about 220 mbps (10% increase) and the upload speed remained around 6 mbps. However, all of my devices including a Roku TV, 3 phones, 1 iPad, 1 Alexa, 2 Google Nests, and 4 smart plugs had a lot of trouble with the change in the router. All of the devices needed to be reset and would then lose connection off and on. It was a real hassle, so I switched back to my previous router. Overall, this would be a superior router if it's your first time setting up your internet connection, but if you have a lot of devices already connected to a router, you may experience some of the same troubles that I had.

With a good modem, this definetley will get you the most of your internet. I have also have multiple smart devices that require a router that can handle multiple devices linked without drops in services and this definetley delivered. The set up was relatively easy and configuration was pretty intuitive that most peope could figure it out. The design is stunning, very sleek and modern. I don't really look for design aspect of something i just stow away, but this has a nice feel and look to it. So far, I have had no drops in service in terms of the wifi, all devices had strong signal throughout the entire house and I got stable speeds throughout all my devices. Definetley a great router.

And it offers continuously stable wifi service, comparing to my previous T**** router. And the internally offered Netgear armor helps prevent a bunch of website attack and block harmful url, which I really appreciate. As customer, I will keep use armor for the rest period.

The router is on the second level and the coverage to our basement is outstanding. We previously needed an extender to cover our main level and basement. I highly recommend the NETGEAR Nighthawk AX3000.

That did not work. After doing a factory reset of the router and creating a new network name, things worked as they should. Now that I’m past the setup troubles, this router works very well and as advertised.

I work from home everyday and my daughter does virtual school so we need a router that is reliable and secure and this router is providing this. Setup the router was super easy especially since you hook it up through the Netgear Nighthawk app and the app walks you through setup up the router and it only took me a few minutes to get it setup! I highly recommend to continue to use the Nighthawk app because it’s user friendly and allow you be the device manager along with other cool features such as checking your internet speed and many more capabilities.I If your looking for a reliable router, I highly recommend this router!

I needed a new router to handle the speeds and this does that with ease. Consistently tests at 800MB/sec (my wired internet does too). Multiple users at a time with no issues. The range is great, covers my 2700 sq. Ft. House with ease. Highly recommend.

I’m disappointed in the parental controls and the inability to add a 3rd party VPN. Both of these are things I should have confirmed prior to purchase, but may cause me to return it. All things considered this is very competitive in its price point for performance and should be on your list if you can go without these missing features.

I stream my TV from my master bedroom and the wifi router is in the man cave on the other end of the house and I still get 55 to 60 maps. Its worth the price it sales for. I am a truck driver, and I am gone a lot. The router does security scans on all of the devices in my network, I get those updates real time to my phone no matter where I’m at in the country. I’m glad we got it. My network is more secure, and I get a notification of any new device that connects to it. So I have security, speed, and real network monitoring are important to you for your home network, then definitely get one of these. It’s sports up to 20 devices streaming simultaneously, with no lag that we’ve experienced before with other routers. We are going to buy another one as a back up in case anything ever happens to this one. Thank you for reading this, and thank you to Netgear for bringing all of us this awesome Nighthawk router.

It works fine after the hassle of getting it setup. Maybe should have given it a 3 star for the poor setup but since it works and has delivered good speeds, make it a 4 star.

If I had to guess, it likely took about 5-10 minutes to set up. We have a lot of smart devices in our home (e.g., smart switches, fire sticks, phones, tablets, etc.) and so far, this router has done a great job of handling them all with ease. Most importantly, you can create a single SSID that covers both 2.4 and 5 GHz networks. Our home is about 2900 sq ft, and placed directly in the middle of the house, it provides adequate coverage throughout. Overall, pretty impressed with this router.

I now know how bad they have been ripping me off because after hooking this up my internet speeds almost doubled and it now covers my entire house from the first floor. This is such an upgrade especially in these quartile times where dropped connections are the last thing you want. I rerouted cable temporarily ran hard line to my Xbox and now it seems to like me know. I anticipated this as It doesn’t seem to have a lot of heat sink it’s light and no fan.... for the price it is middle of the road

Covers the whole house despite the plaster walls being like a Faraday cage. I used an ether net connection for the computer next to the router but there is no change in speed if I switch to WiFi.

The reason I gave it a 4 star rating is because the router uses an app that is suppose to make the process easier to install. However I spent to much time trying to connect and it never worked. I had to do everything manually and look up how to install the router. I also made the mistake of leaving the wifi on for my modem so I had issues making the router connect to my devices. After manual installation and correcting my mistakes everything worked very well. I can definitely see the boost in multiple devices. I only wish that the app would have worked for me as you can make adjustments without opening a browser. Overall an excellent product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great router.. great connectivity I replaced the router I was renting from my Internet provider with the Netgear -AX3000 WiFi Router (RAX38 and trust me it was an upgrade. I have 250 mbps connection and my previous router used to sit in the living room in my 3 floor townhome. For some reasons my garage always got great connectivity but my upstairs master bedroom used to get slow speeds (25-30mbps) and intermittent dropping of network. Now that I've switched to Netgear, I get seamless connectivity upstairs with speeds upto 200 Mbps!! I'm so satisfied. Setting up was fairly easy with the corresponding app. The router has two cons for me. 1. My previous router was modem + router together. So for the Netgear I had to get a modem. So now its a 2-piece rather than 1. 2. The shape is cool and futuristic but doesn't fit well in traditional shelves because of the antenna. Otherwise I'm completely happy with the router. And would definitely recommend it to gamers and people who stream a lot.

I was using a different brands router and honestly I had lag issues or router shut off I'm sorry it was hard to deal with being on the internet. But man, this router is so much better than what I'm used to. Not only is it very easy to install but it has really great features like being able to turn off other devices getting Wi-Fi if they're not important at the time . Also I'm not sure for other people but I have a trouble with bright lights at night keeping me awake and this actually has a very low dim light so if that is an issue for you you will be pleasantly surprised. How you don't see another router topping this one.

It just walks you through the whole process. 4 to 5 steps and you are done with the Installation. The app is super easy andets you check the signal strength in every room and you can mark it as well. It also has something called Armour which stops the phishing and other attacks at the router level. This is pretty slick for home router. It also looks like small drone or spaceship. I dnt mind it hanging outta table coz it looks rad. You can also configure guest 5g and 2.4g.

I like it way better than my spectrum router because I can have an app and cut certain devices on and off and see if there are any threats that have tried to enter. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to change out any router. It is very easy to set up via an app and Send you notifications if anything looks weird or appears to be a threat.You can also run speed test on your Internet and that is one of the things I love.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Consistent Signal I decided to give this router a try after my XR500 gave out on me. This router is a solid replacement albeit not as powerful of a gaming router. I live in a 2500 square foot home and this is placed at my desk on one end of my home. It carries a nice strong signal that covers about 50% of my home, the signal then gets a little inconsistent. I don’t really expect a router to go far beyond where it does so that isn’t surprising. Where it covers I am very happy with the signal. It is consistent, powerful and provides great performance for gaming and working online. The control hub is also excellent and allows for full control over the router and traffic. I recommend this router for smaller to mid size homes, if you have a larger home you may need an extender or repeater to get the coverage you want.

However, this router was not only extremely easy to setup up, but out-performs my last router in every way. The signal strength is strong and can be picked up a good 50 feet outside of my apartment, and the loading times are wicked fast. If you're a gamer or one that struggles with wifi connectivity, this is the cure. Cannot recommend enough

I hooked this nighthawk up to the ISP modem and set up 2 networks, one for 2.4ghz devices and one for 5ghz. I disabled the WiFi broadcasting on the ISP modem/router. I have since been enjoying great WiFi coverage with no dead zones. I was also able to hide the modem in a cabinet and set the nighthawk on top of the cabinet, the nighthawk is sleek and looks way cooler than the ugly ISP modem/router. Setup was easy using the net gear iPhone app. A+

It’s a tad big for my liking, but honestly I’ve seen worse. It was also very easy to setup and connect to. The interface is also easy to use.

I had my PS5 , PS4 PRo , Nintendo switch going on at the same time along with a Roku, mobile phones and tablets and I did not see one glitch or hear any skips. Probably the best router in the market for that low pricpoint.

A year ago we subscribed with an internet company and the time we used the modem and the router of that company we always had problems with the internet and the connection. We made the decision to trade both for Netgear and it was definitely the best decision. Since we switched to Netgear the internet coverage could not be better and we are fascinated. Netgear has the best products and the best quality.

We are still on old copper lines and this nearly doubled my download and upload speeds. The range is excellent as well I can be several hundred feet away and the router still connects to my phone which is nice as we live in a rural setting so cell coverage is spotty at best. Overall this router exceeded my expectations.

I have to admit that I’m pleasantly surprised and enjoying it as well. We always have so many different devices connected to our router that it sometimes gets too clogged up and slows us all down. Whether someone is streaming videos, playing online video games, using the internet, etc., we have been experiencing better quality internet speeds lately! This router works perfectly in our 3 bedroom house. I’ve always been a fan of Netgear products and will remain one as long as they keep up with coming up with new and better devices!

I already had (modem + router but it was giving me a speed of 13 mbps but when i connected this router to my network wifi speed bumped to 110 mbps. That was a surprise for me on what i was missing out. It needed a bit of configuration by going into admin console of the router but was easy enough. Great product.

I had put off setting it up for a couple of months thinking it would be an involved process, having to reconnect all of my devices. The app walked me through the process and even gave me the option to use my old network credentials so the existing devices would just connect. So far the router has worked great and hasn’t dropped any off my devices while using them. I highly recommend.

Speed are good and I haven't experienced any problems with it yet. The hardest part was getting it set up and reconnecting all of the devices to it. It has a very cool look to it and it feels like its a well made electronic product. The interface for it is nice and the app is a cool bonus to use.

This router came well packaged with easy to read and understand instructions. It took me maybe less than an hour to have it all set up and ready to use. Since using the router, our speeds have been great, and we can even be using the wifi from multiple sources with no slow down. I totally recommend this router.

So we have been trying to take anything our of the equation that would slow things down. With this router we are amazed at how fast the internet has been and the signal covers our entire home (3000+ sq. ft.). Setting it up is a little more labor intensive than others I have used, but overall this is a great product.

I went and purchased the ax3000 off of a friends recommendation and after setting it up in a couple minutes there was an instant change. I was able to access my smart devices that are outside my home and all the devices inside my home have been working better and getting a faster and stronger signal. Would definitely recommend this router.

I can build my own PC and set up simple networks, and I can google a whole bunch, but I'm not a computing Guru at all. That being said, my old verizon router is "OK" but it clearly was showing its age after 3 years at our current house. That, and the fact that both myself and SO are both working alot more from home, means that we need every bit of performance we can muster from our home internet. The installation of the Nighthawk was relatively simple. I say relatively because we were upgrading our FIOS at the same time and we needed to coordinate with our provider to get everything functioning well. But overall, it worked nicely. There were no downsides that I could tell when installing and testing out the router. As for the pros: Easy install and set up stronger coverage around our house (even outside for a little ways) It looks alot cooler than the old one and has a better name. Last words: It's a great piece of machinery. It does an awesome job and is easy enough for most people to set up on their own. I can highly recommend this for the price point.

Upgrading to a newer nighthawk router didn't generally give me a lot more throughput, but it seems to be working a bit better with my newer devices (like my cellphone). Seems to have good range for a smallish house. The features/app is pretty cool. The auto initial setup feature with the QR code was very nice. No troubleshooting needed. To be able to do a speed test from my phone to test my router is very nice. I also like I can manage the guest wifi and wifi password from my phone.

Set up was super easy and the range is as to be expected. I'd advise not having more than 2 walls between you and the router or the connection can get spotty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Router for every day use Got this to replace the router the cable company had been charging us to rent for ages and I am glad I did. I was surprised at how much stronger the internet signal was after installing it. We live in a townhouse that is approx. 1400 square feet and the one provided by the cable company always had issues with connectivity upstairs and on the patio. Happy to say that is not an issue anymore! I feel that the internet speeds are better as well, although I don't have the actual numbers to back that up. I wish I had taken a reading of our speeds prior to installing this router, but I didn't. That being said, we stream everything we watch and it feels like the load times for shows are a hair faster and in the few weeks it has been used we haven't had the spinning loading circle of frustration interrupt any of the shows we watch. Set up was easy with the app. but it was a pain to have to go back through and pair all the device again. I personally love the futuristic look of the router, but my wife is not sold on it. Overall a really nice addition we are glad we went with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from as expected minimalist upon arrival, the "setup guide" is a card with referral to smartphone app, required for setup. plastic casing appears cheap but really there is not much else required except the electronics inside. as little abuse as it should get, a cheap housing is probably all that is needed. That said, setup was easy and smartphone app seems functional. Have not tested its range but measured speeds have been very adequate. Wish all makers would provide estimate of square feet of coverage instead of the "cya" statement of "it depends on walls, structural integrity, placement, blah, blah, blah." Found recommendation of this model for a medium sized home and, based on other info I could find from other sources, that is probably correct. So far, no complaints with the functionality and, so far, no dropped connections. So, it is working "as expected".

After reading up a bit and looking thru reviews, I chose the Nighthawk and have to say I was really pleased with the ease of the setup and all of the new to me features it comes with. After 5 days the power light started blinking and after resetting the wi-fi and redoing the setup I could not get the power to work correctly. I returned it to the merchant who sold it to me.

Has all the same options that i loved on my old router plus many new updates. I would recommend this router for anyone that needs a great router for their home or office. I have many wireless and wired devices and this has not shown any reduced speeds. We stream a lot of shows and games from many locations and has worked flawlessly.

Bought this new netgear router and set it up which was easy. I love the nighthawk app which made naming the network name easy. I have “up to 200mbps” Internet. With the old router I would have speeds range from 50-190mbps both wired and wireless. With the new nighthawk I have been 225-229 consistently wireless! I had multiple devices on and it handles it perfectly. PlayStation streaming Netflix, two laptops downloading games from steam, iPhones using social media. I downloaded call of duty mw3 on my laptop from steam in 15 mins. Very pleased and for $160 it’s worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Router - huge upgrade over Xfinity I didn't realize using a separate router would make such a huge difference as I was previously using the WiFi on my Xfinity router. This is a game changer in my house. I have a three bedroom house and the Xfinity box is located in the living room so that I can plug my computer in by Ethernet. I only got one bar of wifi in the master bedroom and video was choppy. Not any more! 5 bars and video is perfect. The router was so easy to set up with the app you download. Highly recommend if you don't have a independent router with your cable modem.

Sharing My network with guest is so much easier with the app and saves me a lot of headaches. I could actually enjoy my time with them instead of manually doing it continuously.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing User Experience My older Wi-Fi 5 router had just fizzled out. Picked up a Net Gear AX3000 and it is significantly better in so many ways. The fact that I can wall mount the router and it has an app that is super easy to use makes me almost glad I needed to replace my router. Never thought I’d say I love my router but I actually do! It also looks pretty sleek on my wall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good but can be better The Nighthawk AX3000 is a very capable router. It takes a while to get set up, but once you do, devices connect to it seamlessly. The 2 small problems that I face with it are: 1) the range within the 1200sqft apartment is not exceptional, but acceptable. 2) the setup was quite difficult as router was not picking up the internet the first few times

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blazing Fast I purchased this device to replace my existing Cox panoramic Wi-Fi router, which suffered from dismal performance issues that can never be fixed by tech support. Once I completed the setup wizard I was able to start gaming online, the difference performance was like night and day (no pun intended). If you're looking for a large bump in performance over the ISP provided equipment, I highly recommend getting this or any of the nighthawk line of routers. It's worth the money and you will not be disappointed.
