Frustrating beyond belief. Tried 2 different CM1200 and neither connect to my Xfinity service. Had Xfinity do a service call and to no avail.

Modem have been on the shelf for a long time did not work when I received it, Support will not accept return without testing it which means I have to take my network down so I have a paperweight will not buy again from Netgear

Expected 4 gig ports on a fast router. Got a fast router with only 1 or 2 usable ports. Netgear tech says there is no use for ports 3 or 4 if I have typical residential service with 1 IP address. Returned the router.

Received my new Nighthawk system 2-weeks ago. We have 17 devices connected with a additional 4 hardwired. Talked to tech support when setting up the system. Everything is working 100% better than our previous rented system from the cable company.

I bought this modem to replace the one I was renting my cable provider. My actual speeds have tripled since setup. I purchased a new router a year ago which helped but the modem really made a huge difference.

Connected easy after my Internet provider registered.. Plugged into router with no issues. Still cannot connect a PC/iMac directly to cable modem to verify internet speeds. Never obtains a IP address.. Tried to chat with NETGEAR Support, not a lot of help.. Was thinking of pairing a NETGEAR Mesh WiFi System but now rethinking this as a choice... Will be looking at other WiFi 6 / Mesh Systems to pair with the CM 1200

The upgrade from 3.0 to this 3.1 modem was very much needed. Would be five stars except for the fact that only one of the 4 Ethernet ports work unless you have multiple IP addresses which Xfinity doesn’t provide residential customers.

CM1200 worked upon arrival and connection. I hope it lasts long, but also there should be more explicit information given regarding all the ports and when and howthey are actually usable. Many ISP are not providing what is necessary yet to have the Multi-Gig port in use.

My old Arris modem has four ethernet jacks that all work by default, and automatically assign IP addresses. This thing also has four jacks, but apparently requires you to obtain more addresses from your ISP. This should have been made clear in all the tech info, it is not.

Can only use one Lan
It’s not worth the price cause you can only use one lan and 2nd has to be port aggregation. Even support desk did not know what 3rd and 4th port is for! So I wasted $180 for no reason and now I am still connected to $600 mesh Orbi which freezes every one or so when I’m working from home.

I got this modem to take advantage of higher transfer speeds offered by my ISP. I had the option to rent their modem or get my own. I chose to shop around and find my own and this one stood out as the best value. While checking out the system asked if I was interested in a discounted unit that was tested and certified with full warranty, but had been renewed. I accepted the discounted option, and it has been a beast. When I run speed tests, I can tell that the ISP has to throttle me down to my purchases up/download speeds, and we haven't been able to bottleneck this thing with over 100 linked devices connected in our home. Highly recommend!!

I have had multiple Netgear devises over the years and the Netgear Nighthawk Docsis 3.1 in combination with the Orbi 850 are by far the best I have owned. I had an issue after a power outage crashed my system. Once I got through the Tech Support que it was fixed in about 15 mins. The support team was very knowledgeable of my system and helpful with my issue. My only complaint is the amount of time spent in the que. Which was almost 2 hours. After being hung up on 3 times and being transferred back to the beginning of the call que twice. I’m giving 5 stars because of the quality of the system and once I got a hold of tech support the quality of service I received.

Netgear will only provide 90 days of free support for their products, and that’s only if you can prove that you bought it from an authorized dealer. After that you have to pay for tech support. Your Internet provider will tell you if they can’t help you if you aren’t using one of their routers, so you are really painting yourself in a corner. You are better off paying to rent a router from your ISP then you are paying Netgear for support, because you still may need support from your ISP. I could go on, but buying from Netgear is simply a bad idea.

My CM1200 is about 100 feet distance from my R8000 router passing the signal through 6 walls 1 A/CHV unit . My Spectrum internet is at 400g. I get 358 speeds 3000 feet down the road through aluminum siding. I have a 1 mile plus circumference with my house in the center I can logon to my wifi at 200Mbps . Let alone in every nook and cranny of my 2400 scft house. Speed and distance like a .22-250 on a gopher hunt.

I purchased the new Rax120. I had it paired with the CM1000 and it did ok. I recently started having problems and determined the 1000 was not doing well so I upgraded to the CM1200. I have Cox Gigablast service and I can say the modem stabilized my entire system. My Cameras and streaming devices iPads phones and smart switches all work great. A great investment.

This is the second Netgear Modem I have installed. One for xFinity and one for Spectrum. Both installations were made easy by the comprehensive instructions and assistance by Support.

Made the break from a rented cable modem and after some research decided to get the Netgear CM 1200 modem. Great on its own, I added Netgear’s Orbi6 router w 2 satellites. Now I have string, outstanding WiFi coverage in my home-and cable is on the way out and streaming services are already purchased. Very satisfied w my purchase and the performance of the system.

Worst Customer Service AND Modem
I had to set up my home netowork quickly but wanted good speed and protection so of course I picked netgear. About a year later when i get my desktop and want to go through ethernet I realize that the modem isnt assigning ips to any of my devices going through a switch. I tried to contact Netgear to ask about what might be wrong but they won't help because I'm outside the 90 day service/warrenty. I can't contact anyone because you need to go through the site to open a ticket. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! Next modem i get will NOT be a Netgear. It is not worth the money and hassel to have my wifi mesh and modem be the same brand. I am a huge tech person working in IT and have never had so many problems with a simple networking set up. Lost a futer customer SORRY

After 5 months, keeps resetting.
I’ve been using it for a little over five months and then recently I tried connecting a second Ethernet cable, and ever since then it’s Been constantly resetting. I can’t get more than two minutes of Internet connection. I tried removing the ethernet and manually resetting but nothing seems to work.

Had a cable modem provided by my cable company but I got many intermittent dropouts.
After a month of ownership, I can say so far the CM1200 “just works”. It’s been a solid steady 900 MB DL speeds on a 1 Gig internet connection. Speeds average 20-30% faster than my old modem, consistently. I just wanted something that “works” and gave me the speeds I am paying for. The CM1200 is making this finally a reality for my household.

First off I love the name of the device! I had to purchase a new modem because the one Spectrum gave was was completely trash. I purchased the modem connected it and some trouble. I called Netgear support they were able to help me quickly find the issue and have my internet up and running. I have had 0 issues ever since it’s been great.

Don’t Dump Spectrum, Buy Netgear
For years we struggled with spotty Wi-Fi in our two story house. Even after purchasing an expensive Orbi system, we still had problems. We finally figured out the solution was to dump the inferior modem we got from Spectrum and purchase a first class unit from Netgear. Boom! Problem solved! We’re finally getting the internet speed and coverage we always dreamed about. Plus, we’re saving the $5 a month rental fee from Spectrum. It was easy to set up and when we did run into a minor problem, a Netgear specialist was a phone call away to help us out. So save the frustration and headaches, dump Spectrum, buy Netgear.

Called my internet provider and gave them the MAC address and within a few minutes was up and running at breakneck speed. Previous Docsis 3 would only go up to 350 Mbps. The NETGEAR Nighthawk is multi-gig capable, so I'm future proofed!

The Nighthawk replaced a Spectrum unit and I couldn’t be happier. The unit looks more aesthetically pleasing in my entertainment center. Most importantly the speeds I’m getting paired with the Orbi AX6000 is phenomenal! Love my Netgear setup and won’t ever look back!

Great when it works, but you'll know when it starts dying
CM1200 work great for about 9 months, I have gig service and pretty tech savvy, and it consistently gave over 900 mps... until it didn't. First my speed started to drop, 800, 600, 300, and 100 mps. Next I had to reboot the device all the time because it would just drop offline, once a month, once every two weeks, once a day. Netgear RMA the old device, but like others have said, you may need to ship the old device first, to get a new one, Netgear can offer to ship a new one first with the RMA but you must pay for it.

I got this modem refurbished off of Amazon; This guy is VERY fast and you're unlikely to ever use it's full potential as most areas and service providers don't offer 2gigabit speeds. For the price, it's amazing and will most likely not have to upgrade until the actual infrastructure in your area does.

MAC address was already used
I purchased the CM1200 brand new from Best Buy. When I tried to activate it through Comcast Xfinity they said the Mac ID was already in use. They explained to me that it may have been a used modem returned and repackaged as new. And I was under the assumption I was buying a new modem. It took some figuring out how to work around it but at the end of the day we got it to work and it works fine. The initial set up was a real pain.

It works pretty good in my 3 bedroom house while it’s upstairs I still game out downstairs with 12 other devices connected. 2 of those others are also PlayStations. If you’re wondering what kind of devices we have connected they’re mostly all streaming at the same time. Definitely recommend

Called tech to see if my equipment was having hardware problems since my ip provider said problems had to be my equipment. Barely out of 90 day warranty. Tech said he reviewed my equipment which had no problems. He did notice some ip setup issues. Couldn’t help me unless I paid for tech to resolve. Basic plan for 6 months 89.99. After local ip provider came out it was found to be their issue which got resolved. Makes me what netgear actually saw, or did they? I feel like I was set up to pay for a service plan that wasn’t needed. Glad I didn’t pay for it!

Started showing issues after about 2 weeks
I've lost many, many hours on this thing. Everything was working fine for about 2 weeks, and then I started getting intermittent DNS issues. I had to tear apart my whole network to finally isolate it to the modem. I have a full Unify stack behind it with a UDM Pro, Switch Pro, multiple access points and some servers. All of this was working fine before I upgraded to gigabit internet and needed a modem upgrade. I chose this device for the 3.1 DOCSIS support and future readiness for multi-gig internet. Installation was easy, and I had no issues... until after 2 weeks I was getting intermittent DNS issues across the network. Switching DNS providers, routing it through a PI-Hole with different upstreams, nothing helped. I've never, ever had a modem fail on me in 20 years, so I semi ruled out the brand new modem. It wasn't until I stripped the whole network down to just the modem and was still able to reproduce the issue. My wild guess is that it has some sort of UDP flood protection that kicks in when multiple devices start hitting it with DNS queries.
I bought an Arris Surfboard with DOCSIS 3.1 support and instantly my issues were gone. Of course this was after the 2 week return policy I had for it, so now I'm stuck with a $200 modem that would require ME to pay for shipping to get it fixed. Last time I buy anything Negear.

I installed this modem on buckeye cable, took a few extra min. Had a sales pitch about how this may not work, flawless install though, only had to talk to a buckeye tech for 20 min. And 20 min. Later, mesh3d with eero, looks like 4k-8k tv, finally, and my home network is back up to speed, eero says 1gbps but I'll tune it later, can't wait to see how it handles 15 devices at the same time, I paired it with eero and a nighthawk r7000 2.5, 5g wifi for the first floor. Testing limits.

Do not use this modem with port aggreation
Netgear support was able to reproduce the problem with severe performance degradation when port aggregation is used that multiple owners of this modem have encountered. A fix was promised via the case I had opened in September 2019. There is still no fix available nine months later. When port aggregation is used this modem will support 1.2 Gigabit downloads for an hour to a few hours. Then download speed degrades by a factor of 10 or 20. A disconnect of Ethernet cables or a reboot of the modem will restore performance for a few hours after which it degrades again.

Got rid of my optimum cable modem that was replaced at least 4 times since January. Multi-gig signal with my Nighthawk RAX80 1GB internet is amazing. Customer support made it right when optimum support told me to return them modem. Will never get a cable company modem again.

Excellent Modem for Gigabit Service
We needed to update our modem in order to handle gigabit internet service from Cox, and it works perfectly. We have gone from a download speed of 164mbps to 827mbps, and upload from 10mbps to 34mbps. We are using an Orbi RBS10 router and 2 satellites mesh network.

Great Modem
I upgraded from the Netgear C3000 to the CM1200. As a result, my wifi speed jumped from 18.0mbps to 118.0mbps, and I no longer need my wifi extender for far away devices. I love that I am getting top and reliable speed in my home.

We have comcast which is the only provider we can get in our area, our service is the worst! Being retired we needed to cut costs and still have access to the internet, we purchased this to help improve our speeds AND save money monthly on our bill by not renting outdated equipment from this provider. Paired with NETGEAR Nighthawk AX12/12-Stream AX11000 WiFi Router, Wi-Fi 6 (RAX200 works like a dream. Very easy to install for anyone! Recommended very highly!

So when we moved to San Antonio, after several months we noticed our internet and wifi was sluggish even when we purchased the fastest internet package. Did a bit of researched and got the Netgear CM1200 since the fastest I can get from my internet provider is 1000 mbps. The CM1200 was easy to install and activation from internet provider was fast. The CM1200 connects to the internet during bootup faster than the previous modem. And Ive been getting speeds up to 980mbps. Paired this up with a mesh wifi router and can definitely say Im very satisfied with this upgrade.

I recently upgraded from the CM500 to the CM1200 to meet the Docsis 3.1 requirement of our new provider, Wave Broadband. Out of all the Netgear products I’ve owned over the years, the CM1200 was the easiest, most convenient piece of equipment to set up. Wave had no issues initializing it in their system and it has been working flawlessly since installation. Docsis 3.1 significantly improved the quality of service and internet speed as well, so this upgrade was a total success! Thank you, Netgear!!

Im still not 100% on this modem. The first one i purchased was bad and the second is having download lick issues. The modem has 4 ethernet ports on the rear but doesnt have dhcp so you cant use them. Why put 4 ports on the back of one of the most expensive modems on the market if you cant use them.....

Replaced my Arris 8200 because if reliability issues. Very sensitive to Comcast power, even with an attenuator. CM1200 has been rock steady. Everything you want to make the most of higher bandwidth/higher speed network demands.

Does Not play well with Xfinity
I have had this modem for several months and it has turned into a dismal failure. I made the mistake of thinking that 4 ethernet ports meant you could connect up to 4 devices. Wrong. This unit does play well with the Netgear R8500 router. When ever there is a power failure, you must reboot each device again separately to establish communications again. Never got good troubleshooting assistance from Netgear on this issue. Now it does not want to lock in to the Xfinity network. I have had multiple visits from Xfinity technicians to help with trying to resolve the issue. Still working on it. Did not want to believe one of the recommendations would be to replace this modem. Starting to rethink that and beginning to research other manufacturers for a device that will provide 1.2 Gbps connection as this unit will not provide over 1 gig. Still haven't been able to determine how to set up port aggregation to a router and I know not to count on Netgear support. You have to dig into the literature to determine that the 4 ethernet ports are bonded. They should allow you to give a Zero rating to accurately reflect the value you get from this product.

Nowhere near the advertised speeds
I purchased the CM1200 to avoid having to rent a modem from my cable company for 1Gig service. After four months of never getting higher than 150 Mbps, a helpful technician helped troubleshoot the problem and, lo and behold, it was the modem. He replaced it with their standard modem and immediately my speeds jumped from 150 Mbps to 935 Mbps and 77 Mbps uploads. The only way to get service or replacement is to PAY for a service contract, so the modem is now an expensive paperweight. Never again, Netgear. Your Orbis are awesome, but this modem is a dog.

I purchased the Netgear CM1200 as a replacement for our modem from our cable company. Setup was easy and done within minutes after a quick call to the cable company to activate the modem. Internet speeds increased by 10% over the cable company modem and we have had no issues as to date with the product. I would recommend this to anyone looking to save rental fees for their cable company modem and looking for an overall improvement.

I replaced an older model netgear cable modem with this model. So far I have not noticed any difference. The reason I replaced it is that it was old and the broadband provider (Sparklight/CableOne told me that the older model did not support the bandwidth that I am paying for. I can't tell any difference and my upload and download speeds are the same. I did have trouble installing the new netgear cable modem. I followed the instructions but they did not work. I called Sparklight/Cableone and they said the problem was with the cable modem so I needed to call Netgear. I called Netgear and they said the problem was with Sparklight/Cableone. While I was on hold waiting for NetGear customer service to do something - I can't remember what - the cable modem started working. NetGear said the cable company was slow in updating the modem. Evidently the cable company must send signals to the new cable modem and that did not happen in a timely manner. So each company blamed the other and I don't know what was wrong but finally the thing started working. Since the old one worked, and the new one seems the same, I'm not so sure I should have upgraded. Just getting the two companies to answer the phone is difficult – I waited on hold quite a bit and had to answer too many questions and even fill out a warranty form. I could have saved my money and skipped the frustration of installing the new one.

Multi-GIG ??? Not on Comcast!!
I bought this for my Comcast account several months ago when I upgraded to 900Mbps. I don't recall seeing anything at that time that said it was only certified on Comcast for 800Mbps. Never was able to get up to the claimed speeds. Now Comcast has upgraded to 1Gb and says that I need to upgrade my equipment to get the full benefit. This thing is a complete waste of my money! No good!!!!

Bought this modem worked for a few days then stopped tried 10 times (literally to get customer service to help me they kept blaming the isp and saying that they couldn’t fix the problem which is a lie as the coax was replaced all the way out to the pole and still no relief. Warranty is a lie as they wouldn’t replace the modem. If I could give 0 stars I would DO NOT BUY it’s a rip off just like their entire company. Check the better business bureau they have a super low rating and people complaining constantly of the same treatment. Cant talk to anyone and constantly waste time then hang up or pretend they can’t hear you and hang up on you with no resolution

Had problems getting my old modem to speed up my contections using my internets providers modem until I switched to the Netgear Nighthawk CM1200. It helped so much in the speed I added the Netgear Nighthawk AX12 router WOW! Now its the fastest its ever been on the internet connections!

Netgear CM1200 cable modem
Modem worked okay for 4 months, it would occasionally lose connection but I wasn’t sure if it was Comcast or modem. Then this month, May, it’s fourth month, it started to lose connection intermittently all day. Then it would lose connection for hours. Had to call Comcast because I thought it was their problem. Didn’t think a modem would stop working then start again. Comcast tech came out and checked lines and said it had to be the modem. I still had my old modem so he reinstalled it for me and everything’s been working fine since. It’s not as fast as the 1200 but it’s more reliable. The only reason I replaced it was to get the higher speed. Netgear did replace the 1200 but I haven’t installed it yet. Not sure if I want to. Although they replaced it under warranty, I had to pay postage to return it, not an insignificant cost when you’re on a fixed income.

Poor performance with Xfinity
I am not even sure if it even supported by Xfinity. The Netgear support telling me if all channels are not locked it won’t work. Xfinity telling me that they do not support all channels and low speed is caused by Netgear modem hardware. So, $200 modem only works around 200 mbps with 400mbps plan. I was going to upgrade to 1gb plan, but it looks like it would be a waste of money.

Great modem
I have xfinity with the 1gbps internet package. Hardwired I get 940mbps down and 40-50mbps up almost every time. Never had anywhere near that with any other modem I’ve ever had.

Fail: Upstream Via Spectrum on CM1200
I bought this 3 months ago and now the Upstream just blinks forever. In fact, it's still plugged in and has been that way for 2 weeks now, nothing but blinking. Great Fast Modem
Easy setup, I was up and running in minutes. Took longer to call my ISP with MAC number than modem setup. Working flawlessly. Had an Arris before, and it was nothing but trouble. I said I’d never use them again, so I tried Netgear. Remember that only one port will give you high speed. Your ISP may support multiple addresses for more ports, but mine doesn’t. So I have 2 wireless routers, and both give me over 600 mbps. My plan is 600, so I’m beating that. Thanks Netgear!

Finally reliable internet
After months of spotty internet service, I was finally able to pinpoint the issue of the providers modem. I decided to go with a brand I knew would have great equipment, Netgear. The CM1200 was a model that was supposed to work with my current provider. The setup was so easy, and within minutes of activating I was getting nearly 4x the speeds I was getting from my previous modem! I can not be more pleased with this purchase! Well The hardest part was Comcast's rules for IP addressing.
So I plug in a pc. I get dhcp and set up the connection through the xfinity web page.
Then disconnect any network cables from the modem. plug in ONLY your wireless router. Comcast only gives you 1 IP address to use. They WAN subnet they assigned me only was allowed 6 hosts max, and no other host could connect.
Connect your modem to your wireless routher. reboot both the router, and the Modem at the same time. Thats it. done.
Netgear needs to remove the nighthawk app from the paper work. Its a modem, there is not any wireless to connect a phone to.

I was troubleshooting speed dropping for a month. I replaced router, opened a ticket with provider, and in the end I found the answer on Netgear forum. Port aggregation is not working correctly and needs to be turned off.

Admittedly, I am no techie. I was under the impression the four ethernet ports would allow for multiple devices to be connected; what a rude awakening I received when tech support told me this modem doesn't allow that, which created a nightmare when setting up my Orbi mesh system. What a pain it was to have to completely disconnect and restart the modem, due to me having more than one device connected in the LAN ports. Not to mention, the modem stopped receiving the signal from Xfinity, which caused me to have to reset the device. It has only been installed 1 month and 1 day. Would not recommend.

The first week performance so far has been adequate for my cm 1200 modem, paired with a net gear router. Disappointing dropouts over web browsing has lead to a four star rating, as this has happened way too often. Also slow upload on some apps used as well.

Replace my Arris SBG7580-AC with the netgear CM1200 because I was getting strange issues, I run a game server and sometimes players could not see the server then the would, since I installed the negear, not problems have come up and I increased download speed by 30 megs, very happy with it so far.

Nighthawk CM1200 is solid
I have had this product for over a year now and it has always been providing a solid internet connection to my devices. However, I've noticed degradation over time where videos and streaming may get choppy, This could be my ISP, but rebooting the CM1200 once a month has basically eliminated my problems. I could probably get away with rebooting it once every two months but this seems to keep my internet consistent and stable throughout the year. This is why I docked it one star but it is overall a great product in the year or so I have owned it.

Installation required a call
I worked for hours on installation before calling tech support. I was supposed to have plugged the yellow ethernet cord directly into the computer to register it, but my computer doesn’t have that port. When I finally called, the technician gave me some numbers to type in on my laptop to go to a website (not sure how - I didn’t have WiFi) to register the new modem. That website was nowhere in the instructions. I asked if I could have done that any other way, and he said no. I assume that means there’s no way for people that use Apple products to install without calling tech support. It seems to be running fine now that it’s installed.

The modem is super fast if you have the ISP provide you faster service. Make sure it's compatible with your internet provider. I use Breezeline and I had to change out their Tivo box. Overall I am very content.

Supposedly this is the most finest modem ever.. was told by Best Buy in Netgear that it would lower my ping/latency Best Buy Said by 15 to 20 Netgear Said no less than 15 it only went down 3 and it fluctuates going higher than what I had before that is on top of having the XR1000 router in combination with the CM 2000 modem It is not much better than the Vietnamese crap that I had from frontier in from spectrum so in my opinion slightly better but not worth the big price tag.

We recently made the decision to upgrade our home network capability to tru-gigabyte speed. The CM1200 was just what we needed at just the right price and, after a quick stop at our local cable provider's store for registration, we had exactly what we were hoping for in a new heart to our network within five minutes of taking it out of the box. I recently experienced ongoing challenges with my wifi network at home. Working from home became meeting after meeting of me feeling shame about my repeated video conference fails. It even became a pretty obvious joke of how long before I will freeze on internal meetings. After buying my nighthawk cm1200, that all changed and now I have blazing fast speed on every meeting which makes my work from home experience more enjoyable. Before switching to this modem, we only get 600mbps max and Ping of >25secs with out plan. However, with this modem we get <20secs ping and 800mbps of upload speed. It maximizes what we pay to our internet provider.

When using Optimum, they provide you with a modem/router. This model was unable to connect with our existing Orbi. The nightHawk cm1200 was easy enough to set up and is working perfectly with our Orbi!

We had been using a combined modem/router for almost 4 years. It was not delivering what our provider was making available to us. The Nighthawk was recommended with a couple of others. We chose the Nighthawk, installed it and were up and running in no time. Also, it runs a lot cooler (less power)!

Excellent modem that fixed, along with my Orbi mesh WiFi, issues with a new Xfinity combo unit functionality. I was experiencing having to unplug the Xfinity unit and plug it back in every time I wanted to print or listen to my Sonos speakers wirelessly.

Warning: I’m not a tech guy or gamer. This purchase was financial in nature. Simple math this unit paid for itself in four months by eliminating the rental fees from the cable company. I purchased this modem after a fair amount of research. It was the right mix if performance and value for my families needs. It works flawlessly with our existing mesh network. I would suggest if you want to replace your cable providers fees with your own modem this is a good option.

Super Easy Set-Up
It's been a while since I've had a new modem, so I appreciate the easy set-up. This has two ethernet ports and this was a plus. It allowed me add my home security system with no problem. This modem has all the power in the world. But I've had nothing but issues with it on Comcast. Netgear support is horrible, they want to charge you to even talk to them after 90 days, and their advanced level support kept saying i needed all 8 upload channels to be locked or it wouldn't work. I feel they sub contracted their support, and it shows, it's the worst.

I recently upgraded from the CM500 to the CM1200 to meet the Docsis 3.1 requirement of our new provider, Wave Broadband. Out of all the Netgear products I’ve owned over the years, the CM1200 was the easiest, most convenient piece of equipment to set up. Wave had no issues initializing it in their system and it has been working flawlessly since installation. Docsis 3.1 significantly improved the quality of service and internet speed as well, so this upgrade was a total success! Thank you, Netgear!!

The modem works great, looks nice, and has a good design that is easy to hide, but I don't see a purpose for having 4 ethernrt ports. If only one works, why would you need more than one ever? There is no purpose and it can easily cause confusion when setting up.

The CM1200 was very easy to set up. I was able to complete everything on-line with Xfinity and did not have to log into the local modem to change any settings. Set it up with my ISP last week, and today I had to call because I lost my internet again. They said maybe its a power problem Not sure if I need a new surge protector or not but have ordered it. The modem won’t work with Cox Gigablast. We were able to get it downgraded to 350Mb and it works, but not with he 1GB. The customer service tried to help, but nothing so far. Returning the box if it doesn’t work this week.

I was using a rental combo from my provider and it was just not getting the job done. I recently purchased this modem as well as a Netgear Ax8 Router and I will never go back. The ease of installation and the consumer friendly app made the setup process smooth. Very disappointed , the reason I bought this was to remove latency in my home network and run hard wires to my PC, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox Series X, and wireless router. It will not connect all at once. Only one at a time, unless you talk with your ISP about giving you more that one address.

This modem quit working after 9 months, Customer service was an absolute bear to work with. However they did offer to replace it after being on the phone for almost 3 hours. To replace it i would have to ship them my modem(my cost) and then they would ship me a replacement. This would have been 10 days without internet for my kids school and my business. To solve the problem I bought a new modem for half the cost of this one and it works flawlessly. I will never buy another NetGear product and would not recommend it to anyone else.

High performance, money well spent
I decided to buy a Netgear router and modem instead of renting one from Xfinity. I bought the CM1200 because I wanted higher speeds and something that could support multiple devices since there are many of us living in the house. So far the CM1200 has been extremely reliable. The setup was easy and every device in the house gets very good signal with high speed connection. Despite the amount of devices streaming, making video calls, and downloading games, there never seems to be a connection loss. I am happy with my device so far, i think it was worth every dollar.

Plugged it in to power. Connected the coax cable from the cable company. Plugged in my laptop to one of the four RJ45 ports. Bingo - on the internet. Plugged in my new 16 port Netgear switch and my home network devices all came up without issues. : Upgrade to gig speed complete.

Capability Beyond ISP
Pretty straight forward to get going, after conveying info to ISP (Cox. Offers greater capability than what is currently available from ISP. Work well with R7000 router device. Do not see a way to update firmware, if necessary.

Quick Setup/ Great Speed
Setup was a breeze, called my ISP with MAC and was online in under 5 minutes. My speed is 600 mbps, and am getting 678 download speed wirelessly. Wired getting 578 . Very happy. This modern replaced an Arris surfboard, which gave me nothing but problems. Very glad I chose Netgear. My first experience with them, and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you Netgear!

I was so excited excited to receive the modem. However it would not connect. I called Netgear tech support for help, 15mins later the call dropped. I never got a call back from the representative. He was not able to figure out. I called Xfinity Internet provider for help and no luck. I tried different ways to connect and no luck. I returned the modem back and was given a free upgrade modem from Xfinity.

Very Fast Speeds
Needed new cable modem for GigaSpeed internet from Sparklight. First Netgear modem, so far so good, first time away from a Motorola/ Arris modem. I am getting good speeds most of the time, 1000 mbs, except during midday when everyone else is on network, but still getting 800-900.

No link aggregation to RAX devices
I've had the Cm1200 (couple with an RAX120 for three months now. Thus far it has been reliable, maintaining a constant uptime with no issue. Speeds to the router are consiststently over 900Mbs with a cat6 cable. Unfortunately the link aggregation that is advertised does not work well. When it works speeds reach up to 1.2Gbs however this only last for a couple hours and then speeds drop to 20-30Mbs. I and several others have raised this issue to Netgear however after several months there is still no fix. This is a solid modem, I just wish all features worked as advertised. If Netgear fixes the issue this device would definitely be 5 star.

Cut Cable Cord
I needed to replace the Cox Docsis 3.0 modem we had when I finally decided to cut the cable cord. I had been using their Cisco modem coupled with a Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC3200 router. I have replaced the router with a Nighthawk AX8 and added a repeater also to ensure I avoid any dead zones in our home.

Love the router
Just upgraded our internet and got rid of cable switching from spectrum (100 Mbps to WOW (1 gbps) internet. Ran a few speed tests and only ever managed to top out at around 700 Mbps. Switched over to this Netgear modem and got rid of the wow provided one and now Im getting 950 Mbps. Love it and highly recommend!

It was NOT plug and play. Unfortunately xfinity is picky and it knows the modem has changed so they will secure the internet until you notify them of the new modem. After that is done, everything works flawlessly.

I upgraded my my modem and router thinking my equipment was just too old so aside from that, I bought the nighthawk modem to replace my D-link modem and what a huge difference..my internet speed is 200meg dl and this modem gives me that.
Super easy to setup, just plug and play after calling your provider to get it programmed.
It is a little big compared to old D-link which isn’t a big deal to me.

I had a CM1000 and tried to replace it with a CM1200. The 1200 went from 40mbps to 420mbps and back to the slower speed. I was lagging in a number of online games. I took the 1200 back and put my CM1000 back. I am now looking for a replacement that will take full advantage of the speed I am paying for.

Flawless performance. Poor documentation.
This modem works very well in delivering the speed promised by my ISP. Unfortunately the four port hub doesn’t perform as one would expect. It’s one fully active, three passive. This took hours of calls with Netgear support agents to uncover. Fairly frustrating and a bit pricey for what it does, however, thus far it’s worked well with my Wi-Fi router and provided great connectivity.

Marketed to residential consumers with the four ports offering a benefit to that consumer. Not a single word about the home user actually needing a separate IP address for each of those ports. Big issue when the new Netgear mesh I purchased with this modem ONLY HAS A SINGLE PORT!!

Solid modem but quirky
Minus one star for confusing directions. Ex, not every internet carrier automatically recognize/enable this modem. I finally figured out that I had to contact my carrier's technical support before I could do anything else. You (the owner of the modem can NOT change user name. The use of the same username on every modem sold weakens security of your network. How dumb is that??
Minus another star: after connection completed and two ORBIs set up the internet connection occasionally hesitates. Has to be ORBIs, right? Nope. Happen when I ethernet straight into modem. Nice

Hooked up netgear - easy enough but it only lets us use it as WIFI. when try to use the ethernet, it shuts down all WIFI connections then eventually the ethernet stops working too. our solution - hide the ethernet cord and only use WIFI because after hours of trying to figure out what was going on, we gave up.

Connection Unstable
I have a CM1100 and upgraded because I thought the older one had stopped working. I spent hours on the phone with Netgear Support (after an hour with my internet provider changing the settings for the new Modem and finally was able to both connect to the internet and the Router (I have 4 satellites along with a Mesh 6 System Router) and then to all the satellites. I was then passed to sales who wanted to provide me with Whole Home-all device maintenance plan for nearly $130 a year in order to guarantee I could stay connected. I turned it down and he said they had provided all the help available to me given the extended warranty I had already purchased with the new Modem. My full circle only lasted a couple hours before my Router disconnected from the Modem again. I worked for another 3 hours or so repeating all the steps to reconnect the devices. The next day (day 3 without internet) I decided to give the old Modem another try. I was back online with all the equipment and all our WiFi devices in about 3 more hours after once again giving my corrected S/N and MAC address to the internet provider. I’ve decided to return the new Modem. I will most likely change manufacturers once this set of Modem/Router/Satellites breaks down again.

Side note, xfinity was AWFUL with their tech support, but netgear tech support was patient and waited during xfinity tech support to answer the phone. After 5 hours of trouble shooting, found out the first tech at xfinity didn’t enter my modems MAC address properly!

Netgear CM1200 Solved my Problems!
I was having intermittent issues with WOW and discovered my old cable modem was no longer approved (12 years old. This Netgear CM1200 resolved all my issues, was on sale, and supports super high speed internet of which I was missing. Was super easy to install too! Even my geek friends said I did GOOD!

Buggy port aggregation
A higher rating is justified when port aggregation is more reliable. A model with at least one 2.5Gbps, 5Gbps, and 10Gbps port would have been better.

The Netgear modem works well, be careful during setup if your modem has more than one port. The modem will create a different network from the router you plug in.

The nighthawk only has 1 port that the data comes out of. I am not sure what the other ports are for. I was hoping that the router could provide data directly to a couple different things and it does not. But the one port is pretty fast.

The router is wonderful the customer service is not, be ready to wait 45 min to get to an agent, one seemed knowledgeable yet left me hanging. They were called away from the phone to later come back and rush through a few settings changes after which they simply told me to call back at a later time if my problems persisted. My speeds however did not change, the next representative seemed clueless. In frustration I called it a night with no real change to my internet speed. Miraculously I awoke to much greater internet speeds, I’m still confused with the drastic change in speed but happy the issue was some how resolved. I did call on a Sunday night which may have led to my extended wait times and lackluster support but the hardware is excellent and they were able to eventually resolve my issues and provide me with phenomenal Internet speed

Not a good cable modem, Not consumer friendly
This is pitched as a consumer model. 4 Gigabit ports! It's a nightmare to setup and doesn;t work with most cable providers the way it is marketed. You can ONLY use 1 channel as cable provider only enable 1 channel and it doesn't have internal channel sharing. So if you want to plug anything in other than a router you can't. You have to buy a router on top. If i'd known this I would never have bought it. It is also super slow to do a handshake from reset. It's the slowest modem for this I've ever had. Maybe this is part of DOCSIS 3.1 but if so the technology just isn't ready yet or Netgear is really bad at it.

This is an upgrade from a Netgear CM600, which worked perfectly fine. My download speeds increased from about 160 Mbps to 351 Mbps (service provider limited). Wifi coverage throughout my house also appears to be better using the same WiFi router (a NETGEAR Nighthawk X6).

Not sure if it’s the modem or the Netgear router, paid enough for both and feel like I have choppier internet since getting them. Replaced an outdated modem/router from the cable company, not much better. My parents have laptops in the next room and they get dropped left and right. I’m in my bedroom using my mobile (1800 sq foot ranch and my phone is on the network not wi-fi.

I’ve had the CM1200 for the past few years and it has been extremely reliable and I’ve rarely if ever had to even restart it. The only issue is not with the modem but my provider Comcast (Xfinity when I had originally purchased the modem they stated on their website the CM1200 would support over 1gbps service through them but whatever they’ve done since then now it states it can only go 800mbps with Xfinity. So needless to say I’m unhappy with them but I’m stuck in my area. So I’m looking at purchasing a CM2050v in the near future to get back to my full connection speed 1.2gbps.

I was using CM500 with a 200 MB service from Xfinity then decided to upgrade my service to 900 MB. CM500 was not capable of handling more than 500 MB so I switch to CM 1200 with google nest Wi-Fi. This was giving me an average of 850 MB download speed and a much more stable connection. Very happy with the performance.

I just recently purchased a Modem and a Router for my home internet. I haven’t been able to get it connected since the Netgear service team can’t help me. IT team is All the way in India they can’t hardly speak English. They haven’t been able to help the numerous of times that I called them. I bought this modem and a Nighthawk router in hopes that paying more would translate into a higher quality product. After a week or two of living with the system, the truth is that it constantly drops the signal throughout the day and requires a reboot of both the router and the new cable modem that I installed at the same time. The older Netgear modem/router combination that these two products replaced did a better job at a fraction of the price. At this point I would not recommend the product.

Issues after the first month
Bought back in March, started having issues in April. Went back and forth with Netgear and our internet provider to try and fix the issue but it took weeks. Would drop connection about 30 times before noon every day. Finally found the issue and both netgear and our internet provider kept playing the blame game. Finally got it figured out only to have the same problem present itself again, now in July. This time however, our internet provider says they will charge us to have a technician come out if the issue is not "their" fault, which it won't be because they keep trying to push their equipment on us, and Netgear only provided "complimentary" troubleshooting for the first 90 days after purchase. So we will be charged by both companies to fix their issues. So much for purchasing quality equipment.

This modem performs extremely well. My ISP is cox cable and plug and play is all that is required. It pairs well with my Netgear AX5 router making for a seemless connection using wired and wireless activity. My speeds are incredible; in most case higher than my paid service. The modem worked flawlessly from the date of purchase. However, for some reason my ISP felt it necessary to push out their own version on updated firmware which created all kinds of issues. Netgear tech support gave the requisite information to provide my ISP to ‘unscrew’ their firmware screw-up.

This 180 dollar paper weight broke within 8 months. Not only did it start dropping connections it also failed to even report the errors to the log. Then when trying to send it back as the warranty had not expired, I was asked for my credit card for a payment for phone support before I could start my warranty claim. This is unacceptable and I will not be buying Netgear again.

Replaced existing modem. Netgear makes setup easy. Within minutes modem was online. Connected netgear router and extender. Finally have whole house wifi and can now go outside and use internet. It also gives a steady signal to my ring cam floodlight which old modem did not. I watched a lot you tube videos and stressed over which one to get. Modem cm1200, router rax120. I bought the netgear extender previously for my old modem. Without extender I have total coverage. My daughter was able to connect in our neighbors front yard. My theory is if you are going to buy then get more than you think you need, better to have too much coverage than not enough

Useless after 9 months (both modem and warranty)
After 9 months the modem started cutting the bandwidth to useless levels. Contacting Cust. Serv. was an exercise in futility. Even though they refused an RMA they offered a 4 year service plan. The cost was more than me buying a Motorola MB8600 (with superior specs and a 4 year warranty by the Amazon partner. Reliability at a lower cost.

Outstanding Marriage
The modem is one of the easiest to set up and as part of the Nighthawk family, the marriage to my Nighthawk router is seem less. It’s a match made perfect for power and performance, but especially for protection with Armor installed. Highly recommend this marriage as teammates for outstanding internet as long as your ISP is a good company.

Net gear Nighthawk Modem
I am happy with the function of my Nighthawk cable modem after I got it installed. However I had a problem with getting it activated with the cable company. They said the MAC address was already in use and couldn’t get it installed. I took it back where I bought it and they gave me another one. I took it to my cable provider’s store and the had they same issue with the MAC address already in use. After an hour of computer magic they finally got it activated. Too much effort for something that should have been simple.

It has been a great modem. A modem should be something you set up and forget about. This modem satisfies that criteria! I noticed faster speeds immediately because my old modem was able to handle the new speeds my ISP was providing.

Easy to set up and super fast! Much better than my old Docsis 3.0 Modem. I had a little trouble when first setting it up but that was due to my ISP. Once I got those kinks worked out, the modem has worked fine.

Works with Suddenlink
Purchased this cable modem to my Arris modem since we increased the download to 1gb. This modem is not on the Suddenlinks approval list but it does work with Suddenlink with no issues. The speed has jumped from around 250-300mb to 550-650gb download at my computer with 13 users sharing the 1gb download.

Superfast with WiFi 6 Modem
When I upgraded my Internet speed from 500 Mbps to 1 Gig recently, I was looking for different modems. With WiFi 6, Netgear Nighthawk CM1200 stood on top with great reviews. I got it with confidence as I have always been a Netgear customer and that didnt give any surprises. This modem gives me close to 950-990 Mbps any point of time. Way to go!.

Real gig speed
I checked my gig speed after I exchanged an arris intel with puma6 chipboard with Netgear cm1200 and I am getting 920 to 960mbs via hard wire and around 630 to 678 MB’s over WiFi on my I phone 11 pro max. Thank net gear now I am getting real gig speeds.

Bad purchase
The modem was unusable. I assumed since it had 4 ports that it had built in NAT but tech support said it did not. Even with an external router I was never able to get my network running using the Nighthawk. When I switched back to the Mediacom provided modem everything worked properly. I have returned the modem to the store.

Changed from cable to video streaming for television service. I now am supposed to reboot modem biweekly because it can’t handle data flow. Modem under warranty, but Netgear technician refused to admit it is the problem.

This Modem is the perfect Modem for any internet service , easy to install, very elegant look , just follow instructions and a simple call to your ISP will get it running , I have a up to 1gig internet and I’m getting speeds between 750Mbps and 850Mbps which is amazing , I hooked up a NetGear xr1000 router into it and my ps5 directly into it thanks to the multi ports in the cm1200.

This device kicked butt right out of the box! I have WiFi camera security system that had been lagging with the cable company provided modem. As soon as I plugged in the Netgear Nighthawk modem, my router immediately pushed to its peek performance. My cameras are now crystal clear and no lag.

I recently installed the NetGear Nighthawk CM1200 Docsis 3.1 cable modem. The installation of this unit was quick and easy. And most importantly the technical issues associated with my old modem (Arris, dropping the internet connection), was finally resolved. The increase in speed and my confidence that the NetGear CM1200 will continue to perform well for years to come has made this choice of cable modem the right one for me.

Works but senseless design
Bought to use with xfinity after leaving att. I paid extra for this router to have the xtra ports on back, only to find out that only 1 of the 4 is designed to send/transmit the internet signal. It’s by design for some reason and not stated anywhere. Had to call to find this out.

3 Ethernet jacks non-functional
This LOOKS like it has 4 Ethernet jacks in the back. After a long conversation with several tech support agents, it was revealed that three of these jacks are non-functional. My previous modem had one WAN and four Ethernet jacks, all fully functional.

Purchased as upgrade for Xfinity 1G compatibility. It worked for a few hours, then did not.
Tech call with Netgear revealed issues with power levels from Xfinity.
Xfinity confirmed and fixed. However, saw a package deal to upgrade to the CM 2000 with net gears mesh WiFi for about the same price so exchanged all.
The CM2000 is working well and the Netgear Mesh WiFi is great.

Great router, speeds are good. But this was confusing, as it has 4 separate Gb ports on the back. Thinking 4 separate wired devices could be directly attached, I purchased this unit. I came to realize that these are WAN/LAN ports, and cannot be used for direct connections to devices. A switch must be used after the router, as IP configurations are not available from these WAN/LAN Gb ports. Silly me. $200 mistake.

Port Aggregation dosen't work.
Do not buy this for port aggregation Netgear won't acknowledge it is broken and if you look at the forums they are riddled with people that can't use it without issues. This has been an ongoing issue since it first launched. Avoid this product.

If using Cox in Arizona, you need to set this value on the Connection page:
Frequency start Value
This field below allows you to modify the frequency the cable modem start with its scan during initialization and registration. Enter the new start frequency and restart the cable modem for it to take effect.
Set this to 210000000, save and the router will reboot. The default scan start is too high and this allows your downstream to stay fully locked without getting "window violations" which will make the Downstream light blink constantly as well as make your life painful with constant re-syncs.

Works well with WOW 500MB plan. WOW tech support helped me switch from their modem to the CM1200 with no problems. I use the EERO for Wi-Fi which is running great. Will pay for itself in just a few months!

Needed a change
Replaced my stock Comcast X1 modem with this because I went through 3 of them in about 18 months for various issues, the latest of which was a firmware update that throttled the modem and bottlenecked the bandwidth essentially preventing me from doing my job. With no change to my plan, I already have at least a 30% speed increase thanks to this new modem. Couldn't be happier, and should have done it a long time ago.

Looked Great, but 3 ethernet ports are useless
I bought this because it had 4 ethernet ports on it. I tried for 1/2 a day to make it work, Called Tech support and spent 1 hour on hold to be told that ONLY 1 PORT can be used. That this is only a cable modem and not a router, So them I tried to make it work with my TP LINK AC1750 for the next 3 hours. I returned it for a refund. I have used NetGear before, but this was a very disappointing experience.

Great but quick start directions confusing.
Overall excellent! Works as advertised. Be careful of quick start directions. Step three says wait up to 10 minutes for modem to initially boot up until online light stops blinking. Step four says call cable company to activate. In reality these steps need to be reversed or blinking light never stops?

The installation was good with most problems on the ISP side and activation. I paid extra for the CM1200 thinking it had four LAN ports than functioned independently and would not need a switch. It does not and I have not figured out the use for these ports and had to buy the switch. Otherwise the modem functions well and is found to be a suitable replacement for the one leased monthly from the ISP. I am glad I made the purchase.

The modem works fine until it doesn’t. My modem seems to go into a boot loop periodically and I am unable to port in because of it. Checking out NETGEAR forums, this is a common problem with their modems. That’s not the issue though. The issue that I have is NETGEAR provides minimal support to customers to resolve the problems. In fact, requiring customers to pay for customer support. Steering me clear from future NETGEAR purchases. Offer better customer support for your customers who aren’t proficient in signal communications.

Troubleshooting
I’m writing this review to document my issue with buffering issues on my TV. I wasn’t sure if it was my cable provider, my modem, my router or my Ethernet. Geek Squad first speed-tested my router. When that passed, we knew we our cable provider, modem and router were working fine. Then, by testing the TVs, he confirmed the Ethernet connections were in place. That left my 7-year old Ethernet switch (a NetGear 8-port GigaSwitch) as the issue. Upgrading to this new switch was easy and fixed the buffering, though I’m not sure why the old switch caused the issue. Since it was a gigaswitch, it should have had the capacity. And I don’t know why it could partially fail.

I bought this because it thought I could connect more than 1 wifi router. Unless you are an ethernet guru you wouldn't know that. Tech support enlightened me. Not what I expected. the yellow ports on the back made me assume I could use all of them for ethernet.

I purchased this in January 2021. It has completely failed. I just had a rep from my internet company check it out and it is defective not being able to lock onto a signal. They replaced it for me with another modem that is working great. I am very disappointed as I paid top dollar for this modem.

Awesome Modem
I purchased this in order to upgrade my cable service to 1Gb and the process of installation was as easy as it can get. Instructions provided in the quick start guide were simple to follow and the configuration was perfect. So far the modem has proved solid with good performance.

Unfortunate disappointment
I was so excited to be upgrading to the new netgear modem, unfortunately this has not worked since I opened it. My provider stated that the modem has been dropping packets or something to that effect and has caused severe issues with our home business. We did all the trouble shooting and work to get it fixed, but ultimately had to go with something else. When I contacted OfficeMax to return the modem or exchange for a new one, I was told it was past the 14 day equipment purchase time, 19 days to be exact. They said I had to go through netgear, who I haven’t been able to get in touch with since this issue began. Needless to say, my modem has been the bane of my existence, but your netgear tri band ax11000 router has been an absolute lifesaver. For that I am grateful!

The cm1200 works great. I liked it so much that I upgraded to the cm2000 because of all of the Alexa stuff that I have. You can never have to much power. Way to go netgear. Love the products.

I am thinking of buying this as this has 4 LAN ports.
Do all the four ports work if I connect one to router, second to my MacPro, third to smart TV and fourth to VOIP phone? Recommend Yes, as it has four ports, if they work.
Below it says how many devices are connected - surely the maximum is four.

I recently upgraded my Xfinity Internet Service and as a result my existing Motorola modem was no longer compatible. I purchased the NETGEAR Nighthawk Modem CM1200 at Best Buy and my download speeds are consistantly double.

I bought this though the Dell website. It was dead on arrival. I spent 2 hours on the phone with Comcast trying to get this to work, and another 90 minutes on the phone with Netgear (80 of those minutes on hold) trying to troubleshoot why it was not working. What a waste of an evening. Netgear should ship me another one at no cost to compensate for the 3.5 hours I wasted.

Netgear Nighthawk CM1200 Cable Modem
I puchased this to replace an older model Arris cable modem that couldn't keep up with the streaming speeds I was purchasing from Spectrum. I have it paired with a Google Nest Wifi6 Pro router and mesh system. I've only had the modem for a week, but it has been solid and has resolved a lot of the speed issues I was experiencing. I live in a rural area in Hawaii and run a vacation rental. Most my guests are remote workers so solid, fast wifi is a prerequisite for them to rent my house. Very satisfied with my purchase.

A rock solid modem consistent with all NetGear platforms. I only replaced my other modem because of old age (7 years). It did crumble a bit, but, it still worked! Don’t use anything but NetGear!

3 useless ethernet ports
Don’t be fooled by the 4 ports. You can only use one unless you have a ridiculously expensive business plan that gives you another IP address. If you have more than 1gbs down, you have to aggregate ports.

I replaced a CM1100 with the CM1200 at the suggestion of our ISP tech due to us being on a gig plan.
I have it paired with the RBK752 and am getting exceptionally fast speeds.

Battle with ISP
Worked great for about 1 year, then complications started. Internet speeds dropped to 1/10th. Numerous resets, firmware updates, and 30 minute calls with ISP and Netgear sealed the deal. I retired my modem in favor of the ISP’s best rental agreement. Time will tell if that decision is best but at least I eliminated one finger pointing source and my speed is back.

Nightmare setup and support
I bought this item 9 months ago and had a incredibly difficult time on the initial setup. The support member was incredibly helpful and got me up and running. However he did mention it was not a plug-n-play application and I would need to contact support anytime to re-connect at a new location. Now I’ve moved homes and am attempting to contact support to reconnect where it leads me to pay-only services. Would not recommend this product or other products dependent on IT support for reconnecting. The price for support would allow me to upgrade my internet services and pay for a full month.

I bought the CM1200 after I had bought a competitor’s and had to spend a full day working with my internet provider on why my wireless wasn’t working (the modem wasn’t sending any info to my wireless router). When I connected the CM1200 and had it activated, it worked. It communicated perfectly with the wireless router. The speeds are great. I highly recommend the CM1200.

Redecorated home office that required moving all internet connections and equipment. In the move the modem on/off switch was damaged. Replaced the old netgear modem with a new one. Our speed increased from around 200 Mbps to high 300s Mbps,

It's hard to tell whether it was the netgear modem or netgear router that was faulty. I had several phone calls with netgear support including one at 1:45 AM on a monday mountain time. Fantastic reps and support. Ultimately there appears to be a known issue with false DoS attacks that cause the system to shut off wifi. I couldn't get around it without severely limiting the device security. As such, I was forced to replace the items with products from a different manufacturer. Netgear could teach the rest of the world about real CS support!

Nice Cable Modem - Not sure when I will
The installation when very well when connecting to Xfinity and the modem functions as expected. My download speed more than doubled when I installed the new CM1200 modem. Unfortunately, the Amazon write-up about the CM1200 is very misleading in that normally a person would not be able to utilize the other three output ports without purchasing a new router.
