Know your gear
Featuring next-generation wireless-AC technology, the RE6500 is universally compatible with all Internet routers, including your service provider's router. Just connect it to your network, and you can access the Internet from any device, wherever you are in your home.
The RE6500 features simultaneous dual bands, which means it transmits at both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies at the same time. It extends 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi up to N300 Mbps + AC867 Mbps and reduces interference. So no matter which band your wireless devices use, they'll automatically connect to the best available band for the fastest possible performance.

Up and Running in five minutes...
When researching, I read all these horror stories online of hours spent with manufacturers & ISPs trying to get an extender to connect/perform, Threads upon threads in forums about this problem and that problem. All I wanted was an extender for God's sake! I chose this product for reputation and price. Opened the box, plug it in, followed the directions and three webpages later (5 min), up and running! This product met all expectations from the basic extender I was using (that had to be mounted outside a window to work). The router is four walls and 40 ft. away, yet, with this extender, my internet speeds are doubled, no more delay with my VoIP and I can leave it turned on inside. Totally satisfied!

It is not working as intended. I have a small two-story house and I do not get signal in the master bedroom. I thought this product would solve the problem, but NOPE!
I am currently stationed overseas, and returning this product is too much of a hassle. Now I'm stuck with this and will just eat the cost. =(

Linksys RE6500
We shopped around for a wifi range extender to project a strong signal to our upstairs (we have a 3,000 sqft home and the shape of it prevents the wifi signal to reach all rooms at a good strength), and found the Linksys RE6500 to be the "right tool for the job". This wifi range extender is reasonably priced, very easy to setup, the signal is strong enough to reach all of our rooms upstairs, and importantly, the wifi signal does not drop off throughout the day and night of usage. This is a good wifi range extender to buy.

Works satisfactorily
This product works satisfactorily and as designed. I found, however, that when used in a repeater mode this unit's max transmission is 150MBS, whereas it ought to go up to about 800 MBS. My laptop is capable of 300MBS but when connected to this unit the max transmission rate is 150MBS. Not bad, but not perfect.

Great for multi-floor home
I purchased this device to solve a specific and I believe somewhat common issue -- getting a strong signal near the entertainment center in a two-story home.
My WiFi router is upstairs and the entertainment center is downstairs, and I wanted the best possible signal for several devices that live in the entertainment center. This device is providing a high quality and fast connection to these devices.
I've had it installed for a couple of weeks now, and beyond the initial setup, it's been totally hands-off, and just works.

GREAT Product!! Couldn't be happier.
I purchased the WRT1900AC router along with the AC1200 range extender recently. My previous Linksys router was about 2 years old but I was looking for more power. And, my previous extender did not have the power to reach my studio located about 250' from the house, so I purchased the new one. I got the extender setup and placed it in the window closest to the studio. I went to the studio but still didn't get the wifi working out there. Moved the extender to various house locations but still no luck. I somehow thought about taking the extender out to the studio... Voile! I get full wireless strength in the studio. These two products work so well together. I couldn't be happier having full access to the internet so far away from my router.

It works great now and it does what it is supposed to do. I am glad that it worked out well.

Useless Product
I purchased this product over a year ago, my speed test from the cable company is excellent every time that they arrived, the cable representative recommended your product for better performance, well that was not the answer either. I was so fed up with not having fast internet, I cancelled the cable company and went with another, I thought that would take care of the issue, again with a new company and this product located less than a foot away still would not work, needless to say I would not recommend this product. It also could not find the 5G. Good Luck!

Do be aware of the limitations of WiFi in order to get the full benefit of this unit. Optimal extension will be attained with line of sight between the base station and the extender. I live in a 100% masonry house, so line of sight is helpful. Unit has been up and running for weeks, no issues. Small kids are using the net, and it does reach out to a cabin 50 yds distant

Conflict with Linksys EA6900 & Linksys RE6500
I have always been a true fan of Linksys. I have been using the Linksys EA6900 for a little over a year. I just recent purchased a larger home, went from a 1,000 sf home to a 3,000 sf home and I wasn’t getting the best connection on the first floor so I purchased the Linksys RE6500. It worked great, wifi was must better on the first level. However, since the AE6900 is a smart wifi I use the smart wifi app, when I have both the AE6900 & RE6500 both running I’m not able to use the app and I’m not able to use the online site http://linksyssmartwifi.com/. I have to turn the RE6500 off, waiting for about 15 minutes and then I’m about to connect. I think I set it up correctly; the range extender has the same logon as the main wifi?

Cut my current signal in half
I'm very capable technically but I still needed to call tech support for 45-mins of assistance to get it fully setup, not a good start. Then, nstead of improving my tri-band AC1200 wifi signal throughout my townhouse, it halved it, yes, 50% worse. Then when I went to extender.linksys.com to view settings, it wouldn't even connect. And it had the latest firmware update which was dated May 2018. So for me, a bad experience and has to be returned.

I had to set the unit closer to the modem than I first anticipated which made it a little more difficult to "hide", but once set up it was relatively easy to program and it works well in its location and I get internet coverage where it was not available before, so all is well.

Fixed all of my connectivity issues
My preferred basement office set up had my laptop in a rather shielded location, so I'd get a couple of bars on my wireless signal strength. But that strength would vary and I was plagued with losses of VPN connectivity. I set up the wireless extender about three feet away from my laptop in a location with less shielding and now have five bars consistently, I've not had a single dropped connection for the past week since installation. Installation was trivially easy, too.

Perfect bridge/access point

I am using it as a bridge and it allows you to turn off the range extender SSID which is perfect for my application. The only thing is I wished it actually came with a setup disk. But it was fairly easy to set up and I havent had any problems. Just remember that you have to have an AC router to take full advantage of the AC capabilities.

This range extender didn't provide the coverage I was going for. There is no sign of a program for my Lumia Phone to assist in placement. My kitchen is still a dead spot.
I placed it about 30 feet from and in direct line of sight of my EA6300. This allowed me to connect my BluRay player via a LAN cable to the RE6500 and has eliminated almost all buffering issues.
Pros:
Easy to set up
RJ45 LAN port
Cons:
By guess and by golly placement
Insufficient range

Problems with duplicat IP addresses
I have a 100% Linksys home network, but this range extender seems to be plagued by duplicate IP address errors. This happens primarily with the hardwire ports. I gave every known device on my network a reserved IP address and the problem persists.

Works very well and nice size to hide
Purchased to replace an older bridge and to extend existing Linksys EA6900 router wifi. Setup was easy except getting an IP from the EA6900 is somewhat unreliable so I have all my standard devices on a static address which was no problem with this device. I am duplicating the SSID on the 5GHz band and using the EXT for the 2.4GHz band. Copying files seems faster with the QOS WMM support disabled. It also seems to stay connected at least so far.

Disappointed results.
I purchased this extender to help my EA9200 router that was supposed to have fixed all my reception problems. It didn't. I live in a 2000 sq ft home and can't get a strong signal from one end to the other which is only a few rooms away. I put the extender in the middle of the house and I think the signal may be worse that with just the router. It is very disappointing. I have to use a PLKW400 powerline set to get a good signal in my bedroom. No metal walls or blocks, just a normal wood house so I figured it should help. I was wrong.

Great Product
I am very pleased with this product. It took me a few times to put it in different areas to test which place had a better signal for me, once I found a good spot between the router and the extender I have perfect connection! I would recommend this to anyone who has a similar dead spots/WiFi connection losses after a period of time, as I had.

I was able to use free WiFi with 80% signal in my home. I even streamed Netflix's content to my TV.

Works great
I just got this yesterday and at first I was going to take it back because it didn't help get a signal to my back porch. After moving it seven or eight times I found the sweet spot. Each time I moved it I also checked the upload and download speeds to make sure if it was a good spot or not. What I found was that the locations I thought to be the best to place the extender, we're not. I ended up putting it at a location that I was sure would not work, but it did. Do what you want, but as for me and my household, it was worth the time we took to move it to different locations. Also get an app to test the download speed to make sure you are getting a strong signal.

This thing is AWESOME!
I have a Linksys EA6350 and I was looking to expand my WiFi through my entire house (4500sq.ft.). I had some areas without great reception and or dead spots. I was told this product would work I was a little skeptical, but it was rated the top extender of 2016 so I bought it. Well let's say I'm very happy I bought it! This extender works awesome just as advertised. Set up was super easy! I put it upstairs, since my router is downstairs (middle floor). The additional reception you get is incredible! As stated, it feeds off your router's original signal then broadcasts it out to the entire house and then some. I have a Linksys router so I think compatibility is a good thing to have. Not only do I have all bars on my iphones and tablets throughout the entire house, but the range also extends outside to the street and around my entire yard. What a gem! Get it today!

Small but Good Range
Just bought this and connected it to my network to cover a dead spot at my business. Being an IT professional, I have been using Cisco products and now Linksys, have not had any issues for the last 4-5 years. I have an AC1900 EA6900 router and an EA4500 N900 Router. I connected this Range Extender to the EA4500 router and it is working perfect. My business is covered completely and is ready to provide wifi access to customers. Best range extender I have used yet. Integration with a Cisco/ Linksys router makes it more suitable. Highly recommend to cover weak signals or dead spots.

Good results.
First let me say that the RE6500 works very well at extending my 802.11ac network. I use it in conjunction with the wired ports for extending Windows Media Center to an XBox 360 in the bedroom. About 60 feet through three walls. Hard wiring was not an option. Essentially I'm using it as a media extender so the Xbox can connect using 802.11ac speeds. That said, there are some areas where the product could use minor improvement. First, the owners manual does not explain all the settings. Less common things like QoS are not explained at all in the manual, in the configuration tool (which points you to the manual), or on the website FAQ. But if you aren't planning to tweak the advanced settings, this is a non-issue as the common settings are explained in the manual that you must download from the support web site. You do get a Quick Start leaflet in the box. Second, it would be a nice feature to be able to disable either 2.4 and/or 5 GHz WLAN repeating. With 5 GHz having a smaller range, some may want to extend 5 GHz and not 2.4 GHz. This is not a huge issue.
Having said that, the device works perfectly and has been very stable this first week. Setting up the connection to my primary 802.11ac WLAN router was by WPS.

THE UNIT WORKS
WHILE THE UNIT WORKS, it is NOT much help...........
1) I had to call for set up assistance, the plug and use did not work.
2) For the unit to pick up an IP it had to be placed 3ft from the wifi-modem and set multiple times
3) The only signal that was amplified was the 5gh, 2.4 does not show up and according to Linsys it means the unit works.................JUNK
the unit only extended my WIFI 12 ft, it does not show up in my patio or Garage
4) For the "EXTENSION" I had to placed it within sight of the WIFI................JUNK

OK but has quirks
Bought this to make sure we have full coverage in the house. My wife works from home so we need stable coverage where she puts her laptop and VoIP phone. They seem to be working OK. My major issue right now is since I've added the RE6500 I can nit watch Netflix on my Kindle Fire HD or my Samsung Galaxy Tab s. The application will launch and sometimes work for 5-10 minutes or just quit when it goes to pull up the selection screen. I have Hulu and XFINITY GoTV and don't have issues with them. The other issue is the internal clock won't set even though it supposed to be polling NTP. Hopefully someone can provide a solution.

Nothing but trouble
I bought this Wifi Extender last week, and each day I have spent hoping that it would decide to work properly. It has yet to do so.
It shows up on my list of wifi networks, but whenever i connect to it, I am unable to access the internet. It shows that I have full connectivity, yet no matter what i try, i only receive error messages that tell me that i need to connect to the internet. this thing is impossible to set up if it doesn't provide internet access even when plugged into my house's Ethernet port.
My frustration further continues when i try for three hours on the phone to contact linksys support with no luck. Netgear it is then.

We are sharing a wifi signal between two vacation cabins at Lake Tahoe. The router is in one cabin and this Linksys range extender is next door in the other. Works! For a few hours....
Worked perfect out of box, flawless setup. However, once everything was said in done it started having strange malfunctions.
First and foremost I got it in the "sweet spot" an area the range detector senses and lets you know here to put it. The room for error is quite large after testing various spots.
Anyways after finding the "sweet spot" I tested all connections. Original router, 2.4GHz ext, and 5GHz ext. The results were: 10mbs. 17mb. 20mb.
So at first glance it was amazing! But by the end of the night it started doing weird things. It started saying it was out of the sweet spot and too far away. But I would ignore it then it would immediately go back into the sweet spot. So I tried moving it Once again worked, but would eventually leave the sweet spot.
Then I checked the speeds again. Now my extender was only at 9mb and the 5GHz wouldn't even connect to get a reading.
I tried running a LAN to it to test and it worked great however every few minutes it would consistently disconnect.
I'm returning it today. I would advise against this purchase. I am a very tech person too and have tried literally everything to get this to work how it should and it refuses.

I had Linksys equipment for years, and it always worked well. With more wireless equipment (3 laptops, a printer, and two mobiles) I had connectivity problems, so I moved to more powerful Linksys equipment. Alas, I could not make the mobiles function reliably, which was crucial as I had tossed my landline. I returned the Linksys equipment and got another brand, which worked almost well. My wife still loses connectivity, and has to roam the house looking for it.

Works great ! Make sure you read all the instructions ! " Remember follow them" before you attempt connection , then you'll be fine. I highly recommend linksys of any type!

Small, compact, fits the needs of my home
I bought this extender for my downstairs coverage. It provides a signal to devices that were out of range of the Linksys router upstairs. Overall,it was easier to setup than other extenders I have used, and it works well.

Easy to set up
My old range extender, also a linksys, was 'n' only and it was not supported by Win10 so I bought this as a replacement from Linksys and got the best price. It was very easy to install and works amazingly well with my Comcast Arris TG1682 dual band ac modem.

Not what expected
I was hoping to expand my wireless.. unfortunately it interfered with other wireless devices... had to disconnect it or in other words just unplugged it.

Excellent product
I purchased this product about a month ago. Never had a problem with install or liking it to my new router. Excellent product for the money, a must have when attempting to extend your wireless range.

Great Coverage
We now have wireless from one end to the other of our 4,000 foot house. Before that we had spotty coverage from one end to the other. Great product.
