Good hardware, unimpressive software
After upgrading from DSL to cable, I needed a faster router. Bought one of these used from eBay, then installed DD-WRT on it because the stock firmware is extremely basic.
With this configuration, I'm quite happy with the router. DD-WRT lets me bump up the transmit power a bit so I have no trouble receiving signal in the far end of my home. The two radios let me separate my internet-enabled devices (Fire stick, doorbell camera, smart sockets, etc.) from my PC and important data.
The downside is that the CPU runs HOT (up to 83C). Also, DD-WRT is pretty difficult to install on this router.

Love it!
My old router quit working after seven years of use. After reading other users' reviews and comparing the prices, I decided to buy this Linksys EA6400 AC1600 Dual-Band Smart Wi-Fi Wireless Router. I received my router in two business days, and the setup was a breeze, much easier than my old one. I plugged in the cables and the system guided me through the process, and my new Wi-Fi network was set up within 10 minutes!

Easy setup. Somewhat quicker than the .n level
The wired gigabit ports are nice. It took a few moments frustration to realize that setup must be done through the wireless mode. Good whole home coverage without using repeater(s)

EA6400 Connectivity
I bought this unit in July 2016 and during the past 10 days, October 2016, it has lost connectivity each day. I have to keep resetting the router. I tried returning this morning to WalMart and it was out of their warranty. I pay $$ for something I expect it to last more than 90 days.

Easy to set up...Great Features...Great range...
I have had this EA6400 for about 6 months. It was very easy to set up whether DSL or Cable. You can make changes from your Smartphone, tablet ect. The range of WIFI signal is excellent inside or out. The cost is great with all the features it comes with. This Router can do much more than what's available now...I would highly recommend this Router...

This router works good. It took two resets of the unit before I got the setup procedure to work, but after that it's fine. I had a little problem with the Smart Wi-Fi app on my iPad to work as well. Set up isn't as easy as Linksys says it is.

Good Buy
I bought this router from the refurbished pool of routers offered by Linksys. It was easy to set up, works great and was indistinguishable from a new router. Also, it was less than half the price of a new router. This router also had the most current level of firmware so no maintenance had to be downloaded and applied. Before you buy, look at the refurbished section.

Our ea6400
We purchased our Linksy WR in 2016 from Office Depot this was recommended as a excellent router for multiple devices and great speed. We only use our mobile devices and laptops in our home and we continually get unable to connect no internet, it takes long to locate the page or while on a page or watching a video it suddenly stops and starts searching for internet. We hate this router when we pay for more interest speed than we probably need and good money for what you’d expect to be an excellent product we should not be having any of these issues it certainly is not our Apple devices I don’t recommend this router. When I purchased this router it was slightly more than $129. Even at that price this is a rip off.

Excellent feature set for the price
I purchased and installed this router about a year ago. My router prior to that was the bare-bones model provided by my ISP, Frontier Communications. As the number of devices in our household steadily increased, the load eventually became too much, and we began experiencing Internet disconnections at least once a day.
After installing this router, the immediate difference was like night and day. Obviously, one would expect this product to perform significantly better than a junky ISP-provided DSL modem/router combo unit, but we went from up to five disconnections a day to perhaps one a month. The speed of our DSL service is not impressive, making consistently stable and efficient router performance a must, so that the most can be made of limited bandwidth shared between up to ten devices at a time.
To top it all off, you get an amazing network administration app. I recently installed a Netgear router for a friend and the Netgear Genie app literally made me laugh. There is simply no comparison. The Linksys app makes network management insanely simple and intuitive. So much so that I've been able to lock down my network's security (I'm talking MAC address whitelisting here, folks) without all the usual headaches.
I could go on and on for hours of expressing my love for this product, but you should get the point by now. Highly recommended!

High Expectations
I figured it was time to upgrade the router due to the additional devices added and some complaining from users. I consider us typical surfers, not serious gamers. The previous router was a E2500 that I have no issues with. I had high expectations for the AC1600 and expected to see obvious improvement. Not so. I am considering returning this and going with something better ( more $$$ ). I am not a IT person nor much with computers and networking. I was unable to locate a simple program that could check the performance of my router / wifi and to determin what maybe causing intermittent apparent slow downs. Connecting direct to the router is obviously much faster, so I'm not convinced it is the modem or cable signal.

This was a replacement for my old and outdated Linksys WRT54G which still works but was limited due to the amount of wireless devices life demands.

Really great as Wifi AP
I bought this router and configure it in bridge mode so it being used only as Wifi AP. I must say it covers a lot more compared to my old Wifi AP E2000 and the performance is really great. Only thing that bothers me is that it can get a bit hot if it's not in a ventilated space but the performance with the latest FW (Ver. 1.1.40 (build 184085) is really great with around 10 devices connected simultaneously.

Happy for the first 7 months, then...
I bought this router in March of this year and it worked great. My ISP recently moved
Last March my ISP upped my internet speeds from 30/5 to 200/20 as part pf their expansion at no extra cost. So, I upgraded my modem to an Arris SB6190 and the Linksys AC1600 router and the speeds, quality and networking were awesome. The WiFi was incredible even in another room. But we recently moved about 10 miles from our apt to a new place, which is also much newer. We were able to keep the same ISP and the speeds.
After getting many things settled, we now have our modem and router set-up hardwired to our new LG Smart 4K TV and our Roku box, with everything else on WiFi. We had our WiFi capable PC placed in another room about 20ft from the router. Though there is a wall between the two devices, I would constantly lose connectability, constantly re-positioning my PC so I could connect again. This just became very frustrating when browsing especially doing financial transactions. After changing settings, adopting channels that others in our condo building were not using, it just didn't work. Even my download speeds on my WiFi devices, would not get the advertise speeds directly around the router itself, as they were getting around 1/5 of that on Wifi. I could only get the advertised speeds if I hardwired my PC to the router.
I am very PC savvy (I build my own and do my own networking) and tried everything without having to get an WiFI extender. So, I went out and bought a Linksys Max-Stream AC1900 to see if this worked, and if it did not, then I would return it for an extender. Well, it worked perfectly, in fact, on my S7 Edge phone, in the room where I have my PC, I can download and upload at 200/20 advertised speeds, and that is with a wall between the router and the phone. So, the device just doesn't give out good signals anymore. I can no longer return the device because Walmart has a 90-day return policy of hardware devices.
Perhaps the device went bad after being re-set-up in my new location, but I was very disappointed since really that is the router that supports the needs I have. I could have tried the same model purchased new, but I didn’t want to waste time if I got the same results. Anyway, at this point, I am disappointed with the AC1600 since it is only 8 months old, or perhaps it has more WiFi limitations than not listed. In the end, Linksys is getting money for two devices in one year.

I bought this almost a year ago because I needed something more powerful to support all of my internet needs after I added a cloud based surveillance camera. I had a little bit of trouble installing it because the Linksys site didn't want to recognize its own password. Best router we've ever had!
I've owned this router for a couple of years now so I feel that I can give a solid review. It is, quite simply, great. The setup was very simple and off it went. I like the firmware because you can setup your router very simply or you can really delve in and fine tune everything, it's up to you - but the automatic settings are fine in my opinion. We don't have cable or satellite TV any more, we stream internet TV service on 2 TVs and I have 3 daughters with laptops, iPhones, etc... and we almost never experience any lag when everyone's devices are on. I've noticed that Linksys has continued to expand their product line with stronger, faster, and more expensive routers but I can honestly tell you that this router leaves very little to be desired for a household with multiple streaming devices.

Incredibly reliable, stable and capable!
Needing to upgrade a router - one that could handle multiple (10+) devices for my parents business, extend effortlessly throughout a 4,000 sq. ft. home/ business and take advantage of the recently upgraded fiber optic lines the local provider stretched out - I researched across all the major brands. Looking for something akin to a "gaming" router, I stumbled on the EA series from Linksys. I had used Linksys years ago and trusted their product but never in this capacity.
I am, in an understatement, impressed. Stability has never been an issue in the month I've owned this router and so far, we've had upwards to 15 devices on the network without any noticeable lag or disruption of service. Keeping guests happy, teenagers happy and even myself, with a technical background, happy was a task for our last router but this one does the trick.
We have no less than eight devices constantly connected and they are literally everywhere in the house; even more so when we have guests staying at our B&B. The router is on the first floor and there are four floors in all for this router to extend to. We have devices that continue to stay connected even after moving 30ft away from the house to a nearby shed. Notebooks, mobile devices (tablets, phones, ipods), desktop computers; Apple, PC, Google, 2.4Ghz devices, 5.0Ghz capable devices – they’ve all connected, stayed connected and I’ve yet to hear any complaints.

AC1600 Linksys router
Overall works well, but the best reception is when my laptop is within 30 ft on the same floor of my townhouse. Upstairs the signal is spotty; the strength varies quickly between 5 and 3/2 bars on the indicator. Works best with N, less so with AC. Very easy to setup out of the box; the second installation after a reset was more difficult.

good upgrade to a 10 year old router
I bought this with the wireless AC mini USB adapter. The router is a step better than what I had, but the USB adapter doesn't work. Tried it with 3 different computers. Not the best performance.

Works Great
it was easy to set it up and it works great. Much faster than my old one. I would use this product again and would recommend it. Love the smart app that goes on the phone. I like it that it has a guest user also.

Terible Range
This router has the worst range of any WAP I have owned. It does not even span the length of my 3 bedroom house, even when in the middle. I have been very satisfied with past purchases of Linksys routers, but this one has knocked down my satisfaction by several notches.

Not Bad Not Good
Purchased product from a Target store. Setup was easy pretty straight forward. Advanced options and GUI menu was great. Loved the new GUI and menu system. Pros: Very fast Wired connections, Very fast 5Ghz wireless, router easy to tweak for performance and many options for prioritizing. Conns: Very Poor 2.4Ghz wireless speeds ranging from 1.4 meg to 9 meg download and 10 meg upload. Even after playing with the channel to find a better option with less interference and also adjusted the selecting to auto for the Coexisting network and only improved to 11 meg download and 10 meg upload. Keep in mind this is a cable connection with the 50 Meg pack. Very poor radio range for a 2500 sq ft house had major signal dead spots and got many disconnects on both 2.4 and 5 Ghz wirless networks. Basically if you move over 40 feet or more away problems started with again both wirless 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz after 6 hours runns hot and all speeds reduce over 40% including the wired connections. After countless hours on support forums and internet searches for other users having trouble I returned router and decided to give the Netgar R6300 ago as I need better radio coverage. Would buy again after Linksys fixes there issues.
With overheating and wirless range and dissconnects. Overall not bad for a non power user and very small network. Not happy.

Possibly misled
I purchased the AC1600 router earlier today because I needed a new router and this one was (as explained by the Office Depot salesman) "plug and play". Not so! I have tried everything in the information I can find and also connected the router directly via cable to the router.....no internet. If I connect directly to the DSL modem via cable I get internet....but nothing through the router at all. Am very disappointed and will probably be returning the router tomorrow.

horrible
It fails every time, full bars in the house but very bad connection.
I thought it maybe was the cable modem but I even can get in the router wireless.

Pretty bad if connecting to non-computer devices
I previously had a linksys E3000 that need to be replaced. I have an Ackerman security system and a sleep number bed connected to this router that worked well. After installing the EA6400 I've been having issues with the wifi strength. Keep in mind the router/security system console/bed are in the exact same place as when I had the E3000. When I contacted support it was suggested that the vendors wifi technology might not be up to date. What ever happened to backwards compatibility? Support suggested I contact the vendors although my E3000 wifi strength was previously working fine. Also suggested buying an amplifier...really? Just dropped $140 and you want me to spend even more.

Great Wi-Fi signal
Super easy set up, The new beam tech for Wi-Fi has made any where in my house have an excellent signal. Before I had range extenders to get Wi-Fi back to the bedrooms. Excellent product .

simple use
My smart wifi router is incredibly easy to control with the help of the smart wifi app. And with the Simple Tap card I can easily add new NFC devices with a 'Simple Tap'

Reliable, secured connection
I was a subscriber to Comcast. The router was constantly needing resetting. Had it replaced 3 times in 6 months. Got the Linksys router, no problems, easy setup, range is acceptable, reliable and secured. Visitors hook up to it when they stay here. No one has ever had a problem. Sometimes there are 5 devices on at one time. I think its great.

Router not so smart after all...
Kept getting bad gate way when setting it up. Wasn't until I connected my iPad that I was able to set it up. Bad experience from the get go... The rest is undecided for now!

Great speed and easy to set up
When it was time to get a new router I decided to research the new AC technologies and ended up getting the EA6400. I don't regret the decision. It was very easy to set up and get connected with the RE6500 Range Extender I had also just acquired. I was also looking for DLNA compatibility, so I could stream music from a NAS drive. The Media Server was incredibly simple to set up after attaching the NAS drive to the router. And it works great with my wifi receiver's DLNA streaming functionality
The only drawback for me is what I saw in another review: the range for the 5Ghz band is not the best. It took a little rearranging to get a solid enough 5Ghz signal to the Range Extender so I can connect to that band upstairs. It's not the strongest signal, but it's good enough.
Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase!

Quality worth the price
overall quality is great with this router. I especially like the options to set priorities and also to have control of individual devices for log in times or access times. Especially with Teenagers and smaller children to limit their wifi internet access.

Good router overall, misleading parental controls
Its a good router, easy to set up and manage..... there is a issue with this or Belkins routers in that the web site restrictions for parental controls only work on IE...
Chrome, Firefox and Safari goes right to you tube or any other site even with those web sites restricted in the router settings. Did due indigence... worked through their help desk teams on different ways and checks to get this working... eventually they gave up as well....Don't buy this if your thinking about family w/kids for web site restrictions....

Best and easiest set up
Just what I have come to expect from Linksys, very easy to setup and works perfect. There was no need for a setup cd, just connected it to my network and followed the on screen instructions. Truly that easy, fantastic.
