LINKSYS AC1200 AMPLIFY DUAL-BAND Wi-Fi RANGE EXTENDER

With the Linksys AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE6700), you can easily eliminate dead zones and expand the range of your existing wireless router and take advantage of Wireless-AC performance.

Using Spot Finder Technology on your laptop, tablet, or smartphone, you can quickly determine optimal placement of the extender in relation to your router. The AC1200 AMPLIFY will then repeat the signal from your router and redistribute it to reduce wireless dead spots with a combination of Crossband and Beamforming technologies.

Not only does Wireless-AC performance allow you to stream videos and play online games without interruption, you can even stream audio from your smartphone using the extender's audio jack. The addition of a convenient pass-through power outlet allows you to keep your power outlets free for use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Failed after only a year I’ve had the RE6700 for about a year now and a few weeks ago it stopped working. I tried doing the reset per the instructions on the Linksys website without success and resorted to calling their help desk. The representative was very knowledgeable, but after around 2 hours of troubleshooting with her using different computers she finally admitted that the unit was faulty and I should buy a new one. Not a good buy if it only is going to last a year! Disappointed at the quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Additional Range, Fraction of the speed. Amplifies Wifi and adds some range, I was aiming to extend coverage vertically up an extra floor. The coverage is there but the speed penalty is big. Only about 20% of the bandwidth vs connecting to the original router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Linksys RE6700 Easy to setup but the signal isnt great. My speeds are 500/500 wireless bit the best signal i get off of tbis is under 100 mbps and doesn't reach that far. Its currently about 25 ft from my router. If this worked well, i was going to purchase a second one however, im prerty disappointed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst wifi product I ever bought I bought this RE 6700 AC 1200 range extender in 2018. About 4 months ago it stop working. I called Linksys customer service (which is may be overseas) and wasted my time. Rep can not help me any way and said it is out of warranty. My older Netgear devices works fine and I never had any problem. I have to junk it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I needed for the far side of my house This design is just what I wanted in a wifi extender. I've wanted an extender to bring ease of implementation and mounting all in one. The fact that the RE6700 has the three prong AC power pass through is excellent. At first I thought the unit was only managed by a linksys cloud but that is not the case. Initial setup via http://extender.linksys.com is completed per the included Quick Start Guide you can also access the 6700 via its local hostname on your network for tuning some advanced setting, this is a big plus in my book as I would MUCH rather NOT use a cloud based SaaS to configure any of my network or local network devices. It's all about security, security, paranoid security. :) I Installed/mounted the extender to my homes AC outlet without losing the use of said outlet is awesome. Unlike other solutions, not having to run a power chord to a shelf to place the unit on opens up the possibilities of locations. The added features of a Gbps physical port and a stereo audio out port also takes this device to the next level of convenience. Now about the speed and range… it does an awesome job, I can roam my entire house and most of my property and not drop the signal from the network I using the RE6700 to extend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it!! I set this up at the opposite end of my house because I have a very weak signal there. I had no problems setting it up and activating it. It's great!! I can now be outside on the back of my property ans still get internet access through my internet. Thanks, Linksys!! I received this range extender for free from Linksys by promising to write an honest review of this product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did the job in my home It was very easy to "set up" and allows everyone in my house to enjoy the internet, use wireless printers, etc. By the way, my house is a 2 story home with a floored and much used attic; so all 3 floors now have wireless coverage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Linksys RE6700 Range Extender Review The Linksys RE6700 Range Extender was difficult to set up and required help from Linksys Support which really was first class. It turned out that the RE6700 did not work well with my older Linksys WRT160N router, and it was suggested that I purchase a new Linksys WRT1200AC which now works great throughout our home and yard. However, the RE6700 Range Extender refused to connect with it; only giving a blinking green light followed by an orange light. I disconnected the Range Extender. It was not needed anyway. My opinion is that this product is a unsatisfactory substitute for a full upgrade and I do not recommend purchasing it. In the meantime, I would like to return this range extender but no longer have the original packaging except the box. Would appreciate directions for doing this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice range The range extender works great, ie. it's on the 2nd floor because my Wi-Fi was weak which it fixed that problem, and I get a full signal in the basement. The set up software did not work quite right with an iPad air 2, but I did make it work. ie. You had to keep going into setting and reconnecting during setup. Once setup was completed, the iPad air 2 did not drop the connection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product I would give this a 5 * if I didn't lose my connection. A couple times a week I lose my connection-so I have to go through the troubleshoot icon on windows 10 to get me back on. Other than that this product is very good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extended Range I received this product free in exchange for an honest review. I hooked this up to allow more coverage around our yard and pool. It allows me to extend signal for a few hundred feet outside. I have not completely optimized placement yet, but think it should allow significantly better coverage all around our yard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock Solid Consistent WIFI The RE6700 was ordered a month ago. The install was so simple and it took less than 5 mins to get it setup and working. The Speed for my kids' PlayStation in the second floor doubled and the WIFI connection is Rock Solid. I am very impressed with this unit and I would strongly recommend it. I have it connected to my Linksys WRT1900AC and the connection is flawless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Rang Well this device is not only easy to setup/install, it works great. This is simply a plug-in-pay extender that you can setup with your smart phone. I added this to our upstairs to extend from our router located down in man cave. All I used is my galaxy note to set up. I followed the simple instructions that came with the extender and I was up and running in 5 minutes. I am now able to stay connected to our home router outside in our car, which is about 1000 ft. away and get a very strong signal. And this device does not tie up a outlet as it comes with a 3 prong outlet on the outside of the device. Couldn't ask for a better, simpler device to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup, excellent range extension Setup was easy. I chose a spot for it, booted it up, then connected with my tablet. At this point the instruction is to enter a hyperlink to complete the setup, but it was easier than that because the browser automatically went to the hyperlink. Using the spot finder, it turned out I had not selected the best placement, so I found the optimal location and relocated it there. The results are that where my 2.4 GHz signal was weak it is now full or nearly full strength. Where my 5 MHz signal was absent it is now medium to nearly full strength. This is giving me better performance in my basement, and outdoor patio and deck. I've used it on PC's, tablets, and a smart TV in the basement with no problems. For me the most noticeable difference is in the quality of Skype calls to our family. We can now do this from anywhere in or around the house. Note: I received this as a free sample from the Linksys Family + Friends program in exchange for honest feedback.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Product From the time I called customer service to help me pick the right product all the way to installing it there were zero problems. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Set it and forget it! I received this range extender about a month ago. Setup couldn't have been easier. Less than 10 minutes from out of the box to surfing the Internet. My house has a lot of dead spots towards the back of the house. The RE6700 cleared that issue right up. The kids can stream their videos and my wife can listen to her music at the same time. We haven't experienced any buffering or dropped signals so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup, does the job. Received this as a free review sample. Was easy to setup and seems to have a pretty strong signal. Have not used the audio streaming feature, not sure I will. Do like the power passthrough so that it does not take up a power socket :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does its job well. I ended up using this to get a reliable WiFi stream to my television in the basement. In that regards this product works admirably. This isn't a knock on this product as it is working as intended, but products that hot swap connected devices to different access points do make life much easier especially when you have less tech savvy members of the family like young children and grandparents. That said, if you need to get a WiFi single to a specific fixed point and don't want the aggravation of pulling cable, this fits the bill. The signal is rock solid through the floor of a modular home (box on box, essentially has to go through 2 floors) and several walls. Would recommend to anyone trying to get a WIFI signal to a difficult to access area of your home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Range Extending Capabilities I started using my RE6700 Extender when I moved out of my Apartment and into a temporary unit over at my Mother in Laws. She lives up in the Los Angeles Hills where there's no cell reception and where my unit is at least 400 feet away from her home. Thanks to this little handy device I plugged it into an outlet that's located literally half way in between her house and where I'm currently at. Works like a charm I get a great connection in the rooms that aren't made of solid concrete. The only thing is it needs to be re-plugged once in a while when no one is using it. I've only had to do this once in the span of 2 weeks, might've just been a hiccup, that's corrected itself. The device is easy to setup, it has a website that you go to once you plug it in where you configure the wireless connection that it will re-transmit. If you have problems with getting a steady internet connection at long distances within your property this is definitely the solution for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor Range coverage I bought this to extend my Wi-Fi into an addition on my house. Set up was easy, but it does not extend the range I need. Using the Perfect Spot technology I got the unit to the best outlet and read -43 dbm for the 5Gig and -48 dbm for the 2.4. Only 30 feet away from the extender I get nothing to about -84 dbm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy set-up, super fast speed so far... Right out of the box I plugged the extender in and followed the quick connect instructions had the RE6700 up and running in just under 10 minutes. I hooked up the extender using my iPhone (which other extenders Ive purchased have not been able to accommodate). Couldnt have been simpler to connect. I did feel that range was little weak based on the signal strength screen that the extender set-up takes you thru. I was one bar outside of "Strong Signal" so I decided to use the signal anyways to see how it will perform just outside the optimal range. I will use at this range for a few days and then move it within the optimal strong signal strength and retest/review. The speed is absolutely excellent. Currently my internet speed thru the router is at 30mbps. My package from Comcast is 75mbps. An older Belkin dual band extender that I had wouldnt even get above 10mbps. This RE6700 is a huge difference and again I'm just a bar outside if the optimal range. Another mentionable is that I live in an older house that has outlets that are close to the floor and are horizontal (sideways)to the floor. It would be nibe if the RE6700 could have a swivel feature for its plug-in prongs. Therefore the RE6700 is plugged in sideways. The antennas are totally Adjustable and I was able to adjust them to get close the the optimal range for the best signal. I will update this review again un a fee days. So far, Im thoroughly inpressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A simple solution to a common problem! For many years my home has had its share of trouble with weak Wi-Fi signals in a couple of rooms but no more! After following the quick start guide instructions I opted to connect an Ethernet cable to the range extender and in just a few minutes I was set up and running. By using the spot finder feature on my cell phone I was able to find the optimal spot for placement of the range extender. Now there are no longer weak Wi-Fi spots in my home! This product saved me a ton of work since I was planning on hardwiring all of my rooms due to weak signal strength including trying to route wires around in a very limited attic space. The audio jack on the bottom is also a nice touch for streaming music to speakers as well. This product's footprint takes up a small space but it's features are impressive indeed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Internet speed boost Bought this a week ago, and couldn't be happier. Slow upload and download speeds were frustrating on a high-speed wi-fi connection. The Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY was fairly easy to set up once we realized that one important step had been left out of the Quick Start instructions. Easiest way to set up? Just use the Wi-Fi Protected Setup. Press the button on side of RE67000 then press button on your Wi-Fi Router. Make sure you set up a password to protect the extender.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Linksys RE6700 Range Extender I received this Linksys RE6700 Wi-Fi Range Extender for review recently. I wasn't sure I needed this unit as my Wi-Fi signal is good in most areas of my three story house.I am using a four year old Linksys dual band router which does a good job even when using a Verizon range extender femtocell. I found that I did in fact need the RE6700 for my wife's iPad 3 and an Amazon Firestick. Even though the Wi-Fi signal is good, the iPad had connectivity issues in many areas of the house where laptop computers work fine, the Firestick would only work on the same floor where the router was located. Although the signal strength didn't seem that much better on the computers, it made the iPad and Firestick usable anywhere in the house. The RE6700 is very easy to set up and unlike many repeaters does not slow the network. As it provides a separate network, any wireless device in the house can use either network without randomly switching between the router and the extender. Altougth I received the RE6700 free for evaluation,I would buy one now after seeing the improvement it made in my house.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AC1200 Amplifier I received the Linksys RE6700 / AC1200 very quickly. Setup was a breeze. Instructions were clear and easy to understand. I live in a two story home with my Router on the second floor. WI-FI band with was non existent in parts of my home. I have used WI-FI extenders, two, until I received the Linksys AC1200. Now I am happy to say I have WI-FI in all parts of my house to include the outside deck and pool area. Very happy with this Amplifier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extend your home wi-fi range quickly andpainlessly I received this Wi-Fi Extender through the Linksys friends+family program. Right out of the box, it was a simple matter of plugging it into a wall outlet and completing the set-up, which was painless. I especially appreciate the fact that - though this is a large, bulking device - the AC plug is right at the top, so that when you plug it into the bottom outlet of a standard 2-outlet wall receptacle, it leaves the top outlet available to plug in something else. In addition, the Extender has a receptacle of its own that you can plug anything into. So in effect, this device does NOT use up any AC plugs, which is great. Too many PC or printer "wall warts" are so large that they take up an entire 2-plug receptacle. A very appreciated feature! I used the app Wifi Analyzer on a Kindle Fire to test my home Wi-Fi signal before and after installing the extender. That app provides very nice real-time charts of the signal strength for the available zones in dBm. I sampled the signal strength in 6 areas inside and outside my home. The results were as expected. The areas I checked near the Extender showed a significant signal boost (up to 25 dBm in a basement bedroom). Areas more distant from the Extender showed less of an improvement. Since we have a single-band DSL router, I was not able to test the dual-band functionality of the Extender. I give high marks to this product for the ease of set-up, the excellent design (especially conservation of AC receptacles) and signal strength improvement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As Advertised I rely on WiFi connections in my home office as due to the home's design I cannot run cables. Also due to the design of the home the WiFi reception in my office was slow and weak. Adding the RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender upped my WiFi speed from 30 - 70 kbps to 250 - 280 kbps, with a noticeable improvement in overall performance. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple setup that works extremely well I received my Linksys RE6700 AC 1200 range extender promptly. The setup couldn't be any easier. Find a standard A/C outlet where your Wi-Fi signal starts to fade and plug in the range extender, connect any Wi-Fi compatible device to the range extender (which is conveniently named the same as your current network with a _Ext added to the end) and run the setup. You'll enter your current network password and presto, you can connect to your network from much further away. It has dual band technology for the 2.4 and 5ghz signals, gives you an AC outlet to plug other things into, and a wired port located on the bottom if you want to connect with a standard LAN line. The setup software will even help you locate the best place to plug it in! Great product if you have "dead zones" in your home or office. The only downside is it's only AC1200, not AC2100 like my router. However, the speed was very comparable connecting through the extender or directly to the router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Dual Band WIFI Extender I received a free Linksys RE6700 extender in return for a fair review. The RE6700 installation was relatively easy. Just plug it in, connect to its WIFI name, then access the unit with a link, from a wireless device, and follow the directions to define the source router (Linksys WRT1900AC) and give the extender's 2 frequencies (2.4 and 5.0) network names, or use the default names provided, which I did. The only issues I had was with using the link set up with my smart phone. I used a tablet and it worked OK. The second issue was not being able to get back into the set up software after the fact, with the provided link. A call to the tech line and they showed me how to get the router assigned URL for the device, and use that to access the set up software for any adjustments. Sometimes the link will work from my PC, and sometimes it will not. Not sure if it is Linksys issue or my hardware issue. The Spot Finder Technology part of the app worked the first pass, told me that the extender was too close to the router, to unplug it and move it further away. Upon unplugging it, I lost the connection. Upon plugging back in, and reconnecting, I could not get back into the software to access the Spot Finder to see if the unit was optimally connected. Overall, the extender works very well. It is a little slower speed than my very fast router, but still acceptable for use around the back yard and pool. Originally, the extender was quite slow, but speed improved over time. May be due to automatic balancing of bandwidth by my router. If there is improvement to be made for the extender, it would be to include the guest WIFI frequencies as well. Not sure if Linksys includes this with other models. Or I can add another extender for the Guest WIFI frequencies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup, not as good as the N300 for large area I was a user of the Linksys N300 which has worked great to extend my wifi signal to my garage and improve connections upstairs (router is located in the basement - Linksys WRT1900 - which is awesome! Best router I've ever used). I decided to try this because it integrates so beautifully into the wall providing access to a plug. Unfortunately the signal strength was not as strong and didn't reach my garage. I strongly recommend the N300 if you have a large space to extend a signal to rather than this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great range extender for WRT1200 This product is perfect to extend the range of the WiFi into my entire yard, from my WRT1200. I recommend this product for the amateur user, as the setup is easy enough for anyone to do. Also, this product does not remove the functionality of the outlet it is plugged into.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wifi Extender Received this Wifi Extender from Linksys for free to write this review. Used this to extended my wifi to every corner of our lot including the garage with great access and throughput. The 1G Ethernet port is a plus and the wireless playback added another nice feature. Setup was follow instruction in box, plug in to AC, open web browser on PC, tablet, or phone then follow on screen prompts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product -- easy to install and setup I bought the Linksys RE6700 Dual Band Wi-Fi Range Extender. It is working very well -- providing the needed boost on both bands. It is working with a Linksys E3200 router which I have in the basement in a far corner, which meant I had a bit of a problem with signal strength in upstairs on the opposite side of the house. The RE6700 AC1200 Amplify Extender solved my problem once I got it located correctly upstairs. Networking with it across 3 PCs works great, and the cell phones, tablets, etc., also all work great. I highly recommend it to friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Wi-Fi Range Extender Linksys AC1200 Amplify Wi-Fi Range Extender review. The physical set up was just plugging the unit into a wall outlet. Then open a browser and put in the web address of the unit, which is all clearly explained in the quick setup guide. Connecting to the Wi-Fi Extender is no different than connecting to a router. Once set up, it was time to go for a walk, and see just how good this thing is. Since my tech stuff is all in the back of the building, my signal tends to drop, out front, so I thought I would start there. Stayed at five bars, so I started down the drive to where the school bus stops; all the while making sure the building stayed between me and the Wi-Fi extender. After stepping off one hundred twenty steps to the street I was still at five bars. So that’s well over one hundred feet and counting. At this point I am thinking that the AC1200 Amplify Wi-Fi Range extender is an amazing product and would highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doubled my range (with a few hiccups) The Linksys RE6700 range extender worked well for me over the past couple weeks that I've been using it. The setup was very simple and straight-forward. The web user interface is clean and works great. I setup the extender close to an area in my home where coverage is spotty. It took care of that problem easily. I did experience some slowness a few times on the devices that I had receiving signal from it. I found that adjusting the antennae helped. I could have placed it closer to my router, but I was in the sweet spot according to the SpotFinder. I also tested the gigabit wired connection on the bottom of the unit. Solid performance after making the adjustments I mentioned. The pass-through feature is great and it doesn't block the other outlet like some other extenders with pass-through that I've used. This unit is built well and does not feel cheap or flimsy. 2.4 and 5 GHz bands worked great, but the 2.4 GHz band seemed to get a better signal in my setup for some reason. I was pleased with the performance and I would recommend this product to my friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast Easy Setup I received this product a week ago and was excited to set it up but a little apprehensive. My previous experiences with WI-Fi extenders never reached my expectations. The Linksys AC1200 Amplify however fulfilled them all and then some. Product was well packaged and came with very easy to understand setup instructions. Setup was a breeze simply a plug and play and a quick visit to the web site to complete the setup. Performance is excellent, extending both 2.4 and 5 GHZ channels to the far reaches of the house where previously only 2 bars strength was achievable. I was very impressed that even the 5 GHZ channel, that was previously undetectable in the dead zones was also available at full strength. The forward thinking design of placing an outlet on the front of the unit is a great feature, allowing one to plug in another device where limited outlets may exist. A built in gigabit Ethernet port on the bottom allows non-WI-Fi devices to connect seamlessly. Overall I am very happy with the performance of this extender and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to extend network coverage to fill in their dead zones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bandwidth Problem? I was completely happy with my Range Extender until my grandson from London who is in HiTech asked if he could connect in order to work on his own laptop all day yesterday. Apparently his connection kept failing, once in the middle of a Skype conversation with an important European customer. He wonders whether the software load he was sharing with the customer might have been too much for the bandwidth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I needed with a easy setup I needed an extender to be able to use all my wireless devices in the house. It wasn't that I couldn't connect, just the signal was too weak to be of any good. I researched and saw this fit my needs. I picked it up at Best Buy, brought it home, and about 5 minutes later I was done. Basically you plug it in close to your main router, connect to it from your laptop, follow the simple steps and BAM! You're done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easiest setup I put the RE6700 in my attached garage to increase my wifi range while I'm in the front of my house...and did it ever. I can now cross the street and still be online with my wifi. The initial setup was so easy, just plug it in and when the light turns green log on with a wifi enabled device and your done. I will say I had a problem changing settings a day later because it would kick me out when I tried to save the changes. I found a work around by logging in while on my original wifi router and I've had no problems since.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easiest Setup I Have Ever Used As a network professional, Best Buy provided me a free demo of this unit to install and test. Start to finish less than 5 minutes. In reality it took me longer to open the box, remove the product, and read the manual than it did to configure and have the product ready. The install process is, plug it in to an outlet, wait for the LED light to go solid (about 30 seconds for me), connect to the extender from any wireless enabled device, select your current SSIDs from their discovery list, enter the password(s) for your SSIDs, and save. It took me longer to type out this process than to do it. Dramatically improved wireless coverage and performance in the far corners of the second floor of the house. Great product + extremely easy setup = a winner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Wi-Fi Range Extender and Features Received my Linksys RE6700 AC1200 Amplify Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender a week ago. I am now experiencing great results in Wi-Fi coverage throughout my home and outside my home. I am truly amazed at the range results I am achieving now. It features both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Beamforming technology with speeds up to N300 + AC867 Mb/s providing speed and reliability wherever you are. The Spot Finder Technology made setting up the range extender quick and easy. The RE6700 AC1200 Amplify Dual Band Range Extender works with any Router and can extend the range of your router up to 10,000 ft eliminating dead zones in and around my home.. One of the coolest features that I really enjoy is the 3.5 mm audio jack located on the bottom of the extender. By connecting external speakers I am able to stream music right to the extender from my Android phone. I also like that the extender has the Pass Through technology so that I can still utilize both wall outlets that the extender is plugged into. Another great feature is the Ethernet port which is also located on the bottom of the extender which I can connect other devices to via a wired connection. Overall, I am very happy and satisfied with the Linksys AC1200 Amplify Dual-Band range extender and it's performance. What a powerful little device it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AC1200 Solved a Signal Strength Problem I received this product free in return for honest feedback. When I first asked to be included as a reviewer, I thought I could use it to improve my signal in the kitchen which is the furthest point from my router. I had tried using an Amazon Fire Stick in the kitchen and it was buffering, so I had to move it closer to the router. After I received and set up the AC1200 extender, I tried the Amazon Fire Stick in the kitchen again. With the regular router signal, the Fire Stick showed a signal that was “Marginal” to “Not in Range”, but the signals (2.4 + 5.0) from the new extender both displayed as “Very Good”. I selected one of the 2 signals from the extender and I saw no buffering from using the Fire Stick there. The set-up instructions were very good and easy for me to follow. My first location choice was too far from the router, and the on-screen instructions clearly indicated that. When I moved the extender to another location, the screen that displayed stated at the top that “we will continue once we see a connection”, which was a little misleading. The extender reconnected to the router (the light indicated that), but nothing happened automatically. I had to manually launch set-up again. If I would have read a little further after that beginning message, I would have realized that I had to launch set-up again. I moved it one more time before finding the best location. This extender helped me with a problem and I would recommend it. Jack McIlrath

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good increase I got the RE6700 to improve my WiFi download on my phone. Setup was easy and fast. My Comcast WiFi modem will clock 90/12/p9 (down Mbps/up Mbps/ping). When I am near the modem, my phone clocks 90/12/p9. I put the RE6700 in the other end of my house where my speed drops to 20/12/p15. After installing the RE6700, my download speed DOUBLED to 40/12/p15; plenty enough to see a difference and extend my range well out into my backyard. The only PROBLEM is that the RE6700 does not come with a management software program for your phone (or laptop) to AUTOMATICALLY connect you to the strongest source. I downloaded WI-FLY and it performs OK. I sure wish Linksys had thought of this and included their own program. I would give then a 4/5 star if they had done this. Without the auto switching program, the RE6700 is too much trouble to manage unless you have a stationary device always in range of the RE6700.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well This item was sent to me in exchange for an honest review. And honestly it works great! The ease of setting up this item is amazing. It actually has a set up guide you can use with a tablet or smartphone to set up. It lets you zone in on the best spot for you to place it. I was replacing a less powerful repeater with this one so I at first started where I had that one set up and I knew that that one was working well. When I did that the guide told me it was set up to far away. I tried one about half that distance. That spot, even though it It was in a place that the guide said was perfect, when I checked the signal bars on my phone out on the patio, it was only one bar more than the source WiFi. (WiFi on the patio is why I need this item) I got rid of some clutter that had accumulated near my source router on my desk and then I placed the range extender back to the place where I had my original range extender. Again on the guide it said it was to far away.... but a little better than the first time. I had the lesser range extender in this spot for about the last year or so and I got pretty good WiFi out there. Fortunately it has a setting you can tap that says continue set up anyway. I chose that and finished setting it up. I once more went out to the patio and checked bars on my phone and tablet. Full bars and when I chose this extender it said signal "Excellent". That evening we decided to watch a movie on the lap top out on the patio. The movie loaded amazingly fast and there was no buffering whatsoever during the movie. This range extender works great, the set up guide is awesome because it not only showed me the best placement but it made me realize I was not getting the best performance out of my source router because of the things that I had put near it the past year and a half since it was set up. I have had it set up now for about a week. It has been very reliable. My previous range extender would have to be unplugged and restarted a couple times a week, which is something I won't miss doing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition to my home setup. I got this to help coverage in my shop at home. We've got a really nice Linksys home router already but do get a lot of interference out by the road/where the garage is. This ended up being perfect for my needs. Actually extends coverage to almost 3/4 of the way down to the gas station at the end of the street. Easily full coverage out to the garage and clear out into the fields beyond. I was pretty surprised it reached that far. I rated this 5 stars based on the value for the money. Its just the right amount of coverage without breaking the bank. However, if you really want some impressive extended coverage for only $50 more check out the RE7000 extender. It really blew my mind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RE6700 - Easy setup, Great signal amplication The quick start guide has only four steps, and that is all you need. With a smartphone, just connect to the setup Wi-Fi network. It quickly identifies the ideal dual band network, you need to know your Router password, click on the link and you are done. I have several other Range Extenders, but this was the easiest and quickest setup of any on them. The resultant signal increase great on the second floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It just works! I am using this unit to extend the range of my EA2700 (N600) router. It has worked flawlessly since I installed it. By using the wired interface I am able to get much better throughput than the A B G wireless interface in my laptop without having to install wiring in the wall. When used with a WUSB6300 (AC1200) adapter in the same laptop I get even better throughput with no wires at all. It seems the unit could quite easily be used as a "pure access point" as well since all the needed technologies are there. It would seem that only a minor code change would be required to allow the use of this unit in that capacity. The built-in amplifier is an added bonus. I can pipe sound to other rooms without wires as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Easy Set Up, Great Extended Coverage The Linksys RE6700 Range Extender was very easy to set up and took about 10 minutes to complete. Following the Quick Start Guide that was included in the packaging, I used the Spot Finder Technology on my HTC Windows Phone to easily locate the Range Extender in an optimum location that provided full 4-bar service @2.4GHz (3-bar service @ 5GHz) to the shop and garage areas. Our home sits on a lot of about 1/3 acre in a forested area that has a workshop and garage area at the back of the property. Because of the configuration of our home, all of our network devices live in the front part of the house and we get no Wi-Fi signal to the workshop and garage areas. Our coverage inside the house was weak towards the back of the house which was remedied by boosting the signal in those areas as well. Download speeds are very respectable at 21 Mbps (@2.4 GHz) & 14 Mbps (@5 GHz) in the shop. Download speeds coming from the RE6700 at the device are comparable with the wireless speeds coming from the router at 54Mbps on a 55Mbps service for both 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz channels. When working in the shop I no longer need to leave to try and get a Wi-Fi signal that is strong enough to search the web for information that may be needed for projects that I am working on. I am extremely happy with the RE6700 Range Extender as it is providing me with strong Wi-Fi coverage where I had no coverage before. I have been running the range extender for about 2 weeks now and I have had no issues at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Signal Boosting Throughout The Linksys RE6700 AC1200 Amplify Wi-Fi Extender is extremely simple to install and provides excellent signal strength in areas far from my router. My router is in an office in the center of my home. I have a media center in my garage with a Smart TV’s, Blu-Ray Players, Streaming Devices and computers. My router does not provide a strong enough signal so far away. Installation was fast and easy. I simply plugged this device into an electrical outlet about ½ way between my router and my garage. I waited for the green light to turn solid then connected to the Linksys Extender Setup Wi-Fi. Once connected I simply went to http://extender.linksys.com to do the setup. Immediately, the Spot Finder technology indicated that I had placed the extender at an optimal distance from the router. If this utility showed that I was too close or too far, I would have had to move extender to another plug. I then started the setup which just needs to connect to my router and then I edited the default SSID names and I was done! That’s all there was to setup. I did a few tests to see how well this extender worked. Strong signals were present everywhere in my garage. All devices worked well with the stronger signal of the RE6700.

Works good extending the range positioning app is wonderful. Now when my spouse has her surgery and is downstairs in the make shift bedroom (in our formal living room) she will access WiFi.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great performance and functionality I'm always skeptical of wireless extenders but this one proved me wrong. Unlike others, the RE6700 helped provide internet access to dead zones in my house without slowing down the overall wireless connection. Easy to set up and worked perfectly with my router. The fact that the set up was simple, had a ethernet output to connect a device and worked with any router made me happy I decided to get this wireless extender. Performance was fast and it never dropped out any connection or slowed my Internet down. I would of given it 5 stars if the interface had more options or if they had a separate mobile app to set it up. The set up was easy but a mobile browser was needed to be accessed to set it up. Hopefully in the future they will have an application where setting up and accessing the extender could be done with one push on your mobile device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great decision to purchase A tech from my internet provider mentioned that as I was updating my system it would be a good idea to consider adding an extender and the dual band would be the best for the ages of my equipment. Great advise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup... I bought this about a week ago and immediately installed it. The setup was a breeze with the help of the App. One thing that surprised me was how close I had to put it to my existing router to get a good signal (according to the App). It works as advertised, but I did want to place it more in the center of the living area - no matter it improved the wireless coverage and that's why I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Plug n Play This was my first extender so it took me a while to figure out how to configure this extender for MAC filtering. Once I googled it, and found the Linksys support page for it, it was easy to configure. I had to enable SSID on my router in order to connect to my router. After I connected the 1st time, I could disable SSID broadcast on my router and extender without isues. Kaspersky was blocking traffic from the extender because it did not know what the device was. Went in to the RE6700 and just checked the box to make the extender look like the router. Easy. This extender does let your router filter only the wanted MAC addresses so it works perfectly. Spot finder was great to get the perfect location. Highly recommended. This device is also super easy for the average user to just set up also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RE6700 boosts your fast AC Fast Wi-Fi with ease This extender is very easy to add range with speed to your existing Wi-Fi. Following the included easy to follow instructions I set this unit up in less than 5 minutes and a few moments to add devices to it. There is a spot finder app that is part ot the set up that shows if you placed the extender to a good location. The range is strong throughout my 2 story house and it extends signal to a couple of houses down the street. So if you need a signal to a large area this should help that helps with placement. Setup is as easy as plugging it in waiting a minute or two for a green light to stop blinking and change to solid. Connect to the Wi-Fi network: Linksys Extender Setup- (extender's Mac Address found on box or extender) Then typing extender.linksys.com in a browser and creating a password for the extender. (The only problem I had is getting back into the setup. Sometimes doesn't work. I believe it can be connected to via it's IP address but I have not tried this as I have not needed to get back into the setup to change anything.) All my devices connect easily to this extender and I have not had a dropped signal. It says it has beam forming to direct Wi-Fi direction. It does not have WPS to setup router connection. I have a Linksys EA 6900 Dual band AC 1900 which has a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network as well as a guest network. This extender will add 2 more networks with a _ext added to the existing name as default. This is renameable. It has a power outlet so you don't loose access to the one it uses. It has a jack for external speakers so you can stream music to it. I have not used this, but I can see someone wanting to connect sound from your network. Firmware came with v1.0.01.010 which is current. I tested my network on Gibson Research using Shields Up and I am still all stealth. Works with my PCs Macs IPods and IPads Apple TV Samsung and Sony streaming BluRays and Samsung Smart TV. I would recommend this if you are having a problem with your signal strength.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Difficult to install Although the unit is pretty good for extending our WiFi to our master bedroom across on the other side of the house, it was difficult to install. Instructions were poor to non-existent. After several attempts and working with several different methods, I was able to install. However, it installed as a SEPARATE WiFi, not an extension of the master. After losing electricity in the house for a few hours, I had to install it again. This time I finally figured out how to make it an extension rather than a separate unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Need more than the extender I purchased this two months ago and installed it without any problem. The problem is that my router does not accommodate both speeds - it will run at one or the other but will not switch automatically. I set it at the higher speed and found that I lost connection frequently. So I have set the speed back and one day may purchase a new router and try again but won't rush to do so until the higher speed doesn't have the loss of connection problem

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Features and Easy to use !! Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender This product was provided to me to review. The instructions and software were straight forward and easy to use. Before the Extender, we had a problem getting any reception in the back yard or in the basement on Iphones or Ipads. The software helped position the extender in the Kitchen and after getting it set up we now have full strength on the Iphone and Ipad in both of these locations. Our computers already had full strength in these locations before installing the Extender so I did not see any improvement there. Did have a slight problem of devices switching back and forth from router to extender while using it. Having an Ethernet outlet in the Extender was very useful and allowed us to connect a computer anywhere without having to run a wire. General impressions are that it was easy to install and setup and works very well!! Would highly recommend this product if you have weak or dead spots in your home or office.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Piece of Cake Installation I have used other range extenders in the past but wasn't happy with them. The installs were always difficult and often the extender would stop working and have to be reinstalled when we had power blips or it got unplugged. The Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender literally installs itself. It found my primary WiFi router signal and configured itself for both bands and then, using my smartphone, helped me find the perfect spot to place it in my home. It has worked flawlessly, even after power outages I seem to get often in my rural location.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Extender That Works I have several network extenders in a drawer because, they were difficult to setup and did not work as advertised. In contrast, the Linksys AC1200 is very easy to setup, and does a stellar job at extending not just the 2.4GHz band network, but also the 5GHz band network (I will have it soon). My signal strength with WIFI Network Analyzer went from -87dBm to -67dBm a 20dBm gain. I added it to my RV and I can now watch Netflix with no problems. My son-in-law has a week signal in the back of his house that will be be cured on his birthday with a Linksys 1200 WiFI range extender.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not Working for Me I'm sorry I did't share the same experience as others. I had high hopes for this little box, but alas what a disappointment. Maybe it is my house construction, but unless this is placed in the same room as my router (EA4500) the signal light never turns green. My router is in a room, that like most rooms is adjacent to a hall. If I move the extender to the hall which is less than 12 feet away from the router, I get and an amber light. This hall location is directly visible to my lower floor. While on the lower floor, if I connect my laptop/tablet to the router, I get better performance then if I connect it to the extender. Just to level set I'm been in the IT business over 20 years, but I'm not a network engineer. I point that out to let you know this is not my first rodeo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Install and it works The first thing that I liked was how easy it was to setup the Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender. After running the configuration wizard on my web browser, connecting to my existing wireless network, I was able to setup both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. The performance is excellent. I was able to get a strong signal back in my bedroom with no lost of speed. A speed test reported 114mbps down and 12mbps up. Another plus is the integrated power outlet which allows me to use the power outlet without any interference from the extender at all. The Spot Finder was very useful in locating the right placement for the extender.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product! I received this product last week. I had to move the unit once to find an optimal place for the extender. The cell phone app works well on placing the unit. I had to adjust the placement of the extender because I did not place it where the app showed me to place it. Since the extender has been in the optimal location it has been excellent. My router is located on the other end of the house and it dropped signal a few times a day. Since I have placed the extender my signal has been great. I would recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Signal Improvement! I was sent free of charge a Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender to test and write a review. My home is a large two stories home that is 72 feet long. My router is located upstairs in my office and one end of the house. I like using the 5G frequency because of the additional speed. Unfortunately, the signal strength was not strong enough to use downstairs. I plugged the Linksys RE6700 downstairs and within a minute it has connected to my router and showed up in my iPhone and iPad with 5 bars! Which was 1 to 2 bars before. The signal strength on the Linksys RE6700 indicate that the signal strength incoming was a bit low, I tried it anyway at that location and it worked just perfectly. Now, the signal strength is 5 bars in every location of my home on both 2.4G and 5G. Even outside my home I get the 5G signal about 300 feet from my house. This device is simply amazing. If you have less then 5 bars of signal strength the Linksys RE6700 may just be the best solution out there in our techie world. It is so simple to install, just plug it in, that's it, the Linksys RE6700 does the rest. It is rock solid and works amazingly with both 2.4G and 5G. I have a Linksys and ASUS router and it work great with both.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Great Device for extending Wi-Fi Range When I received my range extender, I was impressed with its looks and features. For example, it does take away any power outlets when plugged in, and the antennas are adjustable. I quickly followed the instructions on setting it up which was very simple and straight forward. I plugged in the device, waited for the light to go solid (which lasted less than a minute). I connected through my browser as instructed and followed the steps there. The most impressive thing was the "Spot Finder" technology. It was very helpful on possible locations for the extender in relation to both the router and the device connecting.I have had very little problem connecting devices and reconnecting as I pass through the device range. I can even connect to the extender from out doors in the yard. I would very strongly recommend this device. Great work!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed! I received the AC1200 Amplify Wi-Fi Range extender in early May 2016 and have used it continuously (about 3 weeks) since it was installed. Setup was remarkably easy. It has performed reliably and a variety of devices including Smart TVs, tablets, smartphone and laptops have been used with it. All have connected without a struggle. My only complaint is that I would rather have a single SSID for the base router and range extender, but the instructions suggested that the range extender should have it's own unique SSID. The pass through power outlet is convenient, especially in older homes where the number of available outlets sometimes presents a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well but needs better documentation I received this product from Linksys at no charge in exchange for an honest review so here goes: I eagerly awaited this as an upgrade to my previous extender which didn't seem to work on both 2.4 and 5Ghz bands. The RE6700 does work well so I now have full coverage throughout my house (split-level house with 3 levels, 2000 sq ft). I am deducting one star because the RE6700 comes only with a quick start guide. For the first week or two the indicator light on the front was alternating between green and amber. Finally, I took the time to find the full user manual online and I learned that the antennas are supposed to be oriented as follows: left is vertical, right is perpendicular to the RE6700. Since then I have had a solid green indicator and the product has worked fine. Note to Linksys: please don't leave out such an important point in the abridged manual that ships with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good design Works great and very easy to set up. Thoughtful form factor means no mounting, no cords and no eyesore. Using it with a WRT1900AC router which already provides excellent coverage for the primary building but we are relocating and may need the extender for a detached garage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to setup - excellent coverage I received the Linksys AC1200 RE6700 Wi-Fi Range Extender free from Linksys in exchange for an honest review. The short version of this review is that setup is quick and easy to perform following the four simple steps in the enclosed Quick Start Guide. Coverage is excellent when the extender is located in the sweet spot indicated in the Spot Finder part of the setup process. To perform setup, plug the extender into an ac outlet midway between your dead zone and router and where there are at least two bars signal strength indicated on the mobile device that you use for setup (phone, laptop, or tablet). Wait for the light on the front of the extender to stop blinking then follow the two remaining steps in the Quick Start Guide to launch the Setup program. Initially I located the Extender within the green zone of the Spot Finder but biased toward the "too far" side. This was a mistake for my coverage while acceptable was not great. Range dropped off exponentially at 20 feet and I experienced stuttering while streaming. I was thinking marginal four star review at best. Then I relocated the Extender closer to my router and the sweet spot of midway between the weak zone and the router. World of difference! (Note that it is not necessary to redo setup to move the router around. Just unplug and move it, wait for the steady light and reconnect your mobile device to your network). The range on both band is great. I have actually streamed live TV on the 2.4 GHz band out into my yard 150 feet from the Extender before dropping the connection. Think sitting under the backyard gazebo with a brew, streaming the game. I recommend this device. .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dependable wireless network range extender I added the wireless range extender to my network to improve the signal capabilities, and it is working advertised. I have a wireless weather station that uses a signal bridge to transfer the data collection to the Internet. I have connected the bridge to range extender utilizing an Ethernet cable to the provided port. It is working flawlessly and communicating with my router and allows me to observe real-time weather conditions at my home over the Internet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Belkin International - Linksys RE6700 AC1200 I received Belkin International - Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender to test about two weeks ago. The included instruction is very straight forward to follow. The spot finder application helped me to locate the optimum spot to place the Wi-Fi range extender. The intension is to extend strong wireless to the upstairs bedrooms. Before setting up Belkin International - Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender, the upstairs bedrooms were receiving about half of the home network internet. After setting up with Linksys RE6700 AC1200, thee upstairs bedrooms were receiving far less wireless internet strength than the regular house network.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a very nice accessory for WiFi. I received this item few weeks ago and plugged in and connected the range extender near hallway for upstairs. My daughter says doing homework upstairs is better as internet on her computer works so much better and faster. This is what we hoped for to get a better signal on the floor above the router.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful and Easy setup Gamers dream I received the RE6700 AC range extender for my honest review.\ To start off with this little device really packs a punch. I have a 3700 Sq Ft home and my Linksys ea6500 maxstream covers that quite well my problem is out in the yard and garage i have a weak or no signal so i plugged this in towards the garage side of the house setup took literally 5 mins tops and now the garage area has full signal AND my whole back pool area too. After this setup i thought about hooking up close to my PS4 and use the lan port thats on the extender and try and see if using this lan connection (even though its through the extenders wifi just to see if the speeds are better compared to the PS4's built in, less than, wifi card. OMG this is a gamer's dream. I put up screen shots of the speed with PS4 wifi compared to lan cable off the extenders wifi just look at the speed increase. its exactly the same as being hard wired with this devices speeds. so basically if you have a ac router you can use this extender to get hardwired speeds through wireless any where in your home. also the antenna's are adjustable not only up and down but a full swivel on a 2 point axis. totally sweet. it also has a 3.5mm jack to hook up to a speaker set up and it does work well. hooked it up to a 200 watt system and could play music on it form anywhere i had wifi. 500ft away during my test. Now i am a very picky reviewer and Im a flaw finder. heres my pros and cons pros: took 5 mins to set up with the easy to follow guide. you have alot of settings for advanced users but also you can hook it up and leave it it works perfect Of course to play ps4 at hard wired speeds is amazing on its own. it will connect to any router doesnt have to be AC but you will be limited to your routers speed and channels has beam forming technology 5ghz and 2.4 ghz channels Cons: just one. the music streaming didnt have any info on how to do it. easy to hook up just plug in the jack to the extender then plug it into the sound sytem How i got it to work: i have a galaxy s7 edge I used quick connect /scan for nearby devices and it found the range extender i clicked on it and it let me pick as many songs as i wanted to play but this info is nowhere to be found and maybe a different phone or tablet may have a different way over all this will bring Powerfully fast wifi to any dead zone and just like it says up to 10,000 sq ft. great Job Linksys

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Unit (while it worked) It worked great right out of box, did everything I bought it for, along with my WRT1200AC, unfortunately only for just over 12 months before it just died. I had bought it to replace my RE2000 which also suffered the same end after only 2 years. As an IT consultant I can't possibly recommend this to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can get 802.11ac everywhere in the house now! We have an area of the house that gets a weaker signal than we'd like and the RD6700 solves the problem nicely. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Installation and Good Range Outside of Home. The setup was easy with no software installation. The extender was placed in hallway far enough from my router and I waited for green light. Next I navigated to Linksys extender website and chose my network on the list and entered my password. The connection was painless and I was able to add all my devices to extender network with no problems. I have used an range extender before (TP-Link N300) and the installation was the hardest part to make the extender work correctly. I will have to say that Linksys extender in much better in this area. The extender gives good range outside of home. I was able to stream music while walking to mailbox and mowing the lawn on WIFI connection without a signal drop. The router feature of wireless audio is also nice add-on. I have not used this feature but planning soon to test this wireless connetion. I think this a good product to extend WIFI coverage in your home or office.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I had no idea the extender would work so well. I received this product for free in exchange for an honest review. I had no plans on buying a range extender as I had heard mixed reviews on whether they add value. I have an 1800 sq foot 2-story home. That's not big, but because my wifi router is in a tucked away downstairs bedroom, my wifi signal is weak and slow in areas of my upstairs. Upon receiving this item, I was quickly able to set it up using the quick start guide. I would estimate 10 minutes from opening the box to having a working extender. And I am not very tech savvy and instead fear the hassle of having to configure anything. I've successfully set up wifi on multiple times before, but still fear the process. Before I set up the extender, my SpeedTest download test results were as follows: Near the router: 80 Mbps Furthest bedroom away from router: 18 Mbps After I set up the router Furthest bedroom away from router: 60 Mbps For that kind of result, I would have purchased this range extender sooner. Set up is easy. Instructions are good. This is a no brainer... Now that I've tried it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plug in and go. First off, I need to say that I've received this product for free to try and then give my opinion. Once I plugged in the device. It took about 30seconds for the light to go solid(which means it's ready to use). The thing I liked best about this product was the fact that my wife can get on the internet through this device in the bedroom. I don't know why but, when she's in the bedroom. She can't get on the net. She has a Galaxy S4.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Far better than expected! I recently added a new addition to my house and WiFi reception in the new addition was very poor and I had little to no WiFi signal in the far portions of it. This device has more than improved the signal quality and performance of my WiFi. It even reaches my backyard with full bars. The setup was easy and pairing it with my already existing Linksys router was super easy. Setup time took me about five minutes. I definitely would recommend this product to anyone needing better WiFi performance in areas of poor reception.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super easy to setup It works well but would mostly recommend it to extend wifi to an area that signal strength is minimal to nonexistent. It uses it's own wifi/network settings so when you move between it and the originating wifi source you have to jump back and forth between logins... which doesn't always happen automatically.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Design and Coverage The Linksys 1200 Amplify is a great little Wi-Fi extender that installs easily and provides good Wi-Fi coverage in our Great Room and even out to the garage. Our extender is connected to a Linksys WRT1900 ACS wireless router which already provides wide Wi-Fi coverage and the Amplify complements that coverage quite nicely. We located ours towards the very rear area of our home so that it would support coverage to our back patio and we are delighted that it manages to provide good signal coverage to our entire back yard. The unique style with the very useful pass-through electrical plug comes in very handy for us as the Amplify is inserted in a receptacle that we routinely plug our vacuum cleaner in to tidy up. I have wirelessly connected my Roku box to the Amplify and video streaming is full on perfect at extended distances. The set-up App was easy to use and very useful. The Linksys 1200 Amplify working in conjunction with the WRT1900 ACS is an absolute perfect solution for us and should correct most every Wi-Fi coverage problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Difficult to set up, not much increase in range 25 years ago using command line Windows, setting up new devices or software always made me feel smart. This item which is supposed to be easy to set up made me feel very dumb. I spent about 6 hours trying to set it up with an old laptop running Windows 10. I finally gave up, reset it to factory defaults, and waited about a week. Then I did the set up again using a relatively new Android smart phone. It took less time because I had learned a bit the first try. It did extend my WiFi range a bit, but not much, and the phone repeatedly disconnected from the router, forcing me to log back in. I then attempted to log in to the extender from my laptop and was unable to log in. I gave up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Increases speed I received this product a couple of weeks ago in exchange for an honest review. So far I've noticed that it does amplify the wifi signal in my home. It increases internet speed by about 15 mbps in the places it didn't reach well before. It's also very easy to set up. You basically plug it into an outlet and it's good to go. My provider is fiber optic and the router is in my basement. I placed the extender in my upstairs hallway and it really improved signal upstairs. I noticed the biggest difference on my phone. The only problem I've found is that if you're into gaming, lagging occurs more often when connected to this extender.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Extender RE6700 I received this on Friday and did a quick try to setup but as I found today when I tried again (Had more Time) take your time and read what looks like very little simple words .Look on the back of your extender and you will see the last 3 digits of mac address remember that.Plug your extender in and wait for the solid light (be patient). Once you see the solid light go to your wireless settings and connect to the one that has those last 3 digits. Then go to extender.linksys.com address and follow the instructions. That's basically it! The spot finer feature is great I was able to place it so it was in the middle very close to just right . Works fantastic my only reason for 4 stars is I feel the instructions good have been a little better . Diagrams in a pictorial or graphical way might be better ! Just be patient and you will be happy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup Just received this today and immediately plugged it in and ran through the setup. Setup was straightforward and took less than 5 minutes. Because my router is located in a media closet downstairs, getting a strong signal took some work. I was hoping to extend my wireless network to my mom's house next door, but due to the router location I was not able to achieve that. Still, my phone's signal went from 115Mbs to 144. So far so good. The only issue I had was the assumption that I would prefer a separate network name for the extender. I had to dig into the settings after setup was complete to tell it to replicate the existing network. I would rather only present a single network to everyone instead of two. At least the option is there and I can understand why you would recommend that for the average consumer in case they had problems. I'll post an update later to relay performance and reliabilty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Range Extender I got the Linksys RE6700 AC1200 Amplify Range Extender as a free sample for review. I have used different routers and range extenders in the past as wifi is spotty in some parts of the house I live at. I had tried different power line extenders but they all seem to fail after a year or just not work well by limiting my internet speed excessively. The RE6700 is compact beautifully designed. Setting up was a breeze, I plugged it in, waited for a minute or two for the light to stop blinking as in the instruction manual. I connected to it with my iPhone 6plus and set it up. Setup was easy and convenient. The signal now extends across the house. I am not an expert at checking speeds but to my lay opinion the speed was good in all places including outside the building. I only checked as far as on the street infront of the house. The extender has an ethernet port also. I have tried by RokuXS connected to the ethernet port and it works great The only feature I have not tried is the audio jack out however it shows up when using my apply products for apple airplay and I see no reason it would not work since its showing up

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vastly Better Coverage; Inside and Out I have a home office upstairs in my two story house with a desktop PC (Really!). Desktop PC and, of course, my Linksys wireless router are hardwired, however, router located in PC desk credenza which restricts signal strength to other parts of the house. Also utilize a tablet, smart phone and smart TV’s in other parts of the house but wireless signal was pretty woeful given the situation. Had a cheap range extender which improved the wireless signal somewhat but felt I could do better. The Linksys RE6700 AC 1200 range extender improved my signal significantly. Tablet and smart phone now get a maximum signal throughout the house inc. the basement and onto the patio. In fact, signal is even strong to the front and back lawns! Smart TV performance also vastly improved. Notwithstanding its very good performance, set-up left something to be desired. Muddled my way through and got it installed but I never found the “Spot Finder Technology” on tablet so just moved it around until I got the strongest signal. Great product but set-up and installation could be improved.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our new router and range extender Our small condo building 300 units) just completed a major installation of upgrading our cable to fiber optic cable. Supposedly this increased the MBPS from 5 to 100. However we had an Apple Extreme which appears to be not compatible with this new cable. In addition our Apple Extreme was located in the most central part of our apartment but the workman then moved it to the front room which is at one of the farthest points of our unit. My Wife enjoys playing on her I Pad from the bed room on the other side of the apartment however the Apple Extreme did not have the power to reach that far. I then purchased a Linksys 3200 and installed it in the front room. It worked better but not 100% so I just purchased the Linksky 1200 which I think is your range extender. That is located in the center of our small condo unit but it really "did the trick." My computer is faster, more importantly I have two printers which now really work fast and still even more important is that in our bedroom we have a large Smart TV with Skype features. Our son lives out of town and we Skype with him every night and I can tell you happily and proudly that the Skype picture now works so fantastic. Further to sum all of this up which may or may not be important is that I am an old guy like 83 years old and all of this computer business is very difficult for me. Luckily my kids and grandchildren all grew up with this and they are able to solve almost all of my problems. I just read in yesterdays Wall Street Journal that problems with dead spots from weak Wi-fi is very common but several companies are coming out with something new and more powerful probably in June. Link sky was one of several companies mentioned that would be participating in this new stronger router. For me I am a happy camper with my 2 Linksys pieces. This is after I read and filled out your survey but as I mentioned that I am an old guy and I don't have a clue as to how to set these things up however, I was able to have one of the workman from the new Internet provider company in our building set up my 3200. My wife set up the 1200. That was easy as all you have to do is plug it in and I could have done that. One thing that is still a question for me and hopefully you will answer but when the Internet provider first installed the 3200, he put in a small cabinet that was part of a large custom wall piece that we have just to hide it. However subsequently another provider workman that was up here for something else said that the router must be out in the open. At moment it is out in the open but it looks bad among all of our decorative pieces in our front room----so question to you is? Could that router be put back in the cabinet and get it out of sight? Hope I do get an answer from you on this question.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup, fantastic results I'm pretty impressed. The AC1200 WiFi range extender has extended my WiFi signal to my garage which previously I had none. It has worked flawlessly without any signal loss or dropouts. The garage is 30 ft from the house and have never had signal that far. The download speed from my router is 74 mbps, the extender speed is 56 mbps. Listening to pandora in my garage has made this the perfect solution. It has greatly increased the range Of my WiFi. Setup was painless and very easy. After entering the routers password I was up and running in a matter of minutes. Streaming music to where I couldn't before is fantastic, and am very pleased with the results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from RE6700 Seemed great at first. I purchased the RE6700 about a month ago. It is paired with an EA6500 wireless router. Setup was easy and I saw immediate range improvement; for about a week. About once a week speed drops to 10-15% of normal and I must reset and reinstall the device. Today, no mater what I do, my connection speed is 6 MBits. Usually my connection is 40-50 MBits. I am going to try and return this device to the store where purchased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sucks! Broke down after 5 months! Bought at Walmart! Easy setup. I never understood why the light sometimes was green and sometimes amber, but it delivered decent signal to 2nd Floor. Last week (5 months later) I stopped getting any signal even though the light was still green. Unplugged it for an hour connected it back and still no signal. I unplugged it for a day, same thing. Tried using the reset button, nothing happened. Ligth always green no signal still. I will return to Walmart and buy another model, maybe better luck with Netgear. Arrggg!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly What I Needed I received this product in exchange for an honest review and here it is: LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! I had been looking for something like this for about a year. I wanted to be able to use my laptop and smartphones outside in our pool cabana without using my data plan, to be able to connect to my existing wifi network. I came across this product and loved the feature that it plugged in anywhere and still provides use of that outlet. The installation instructions were very easy to follow with android smartphone in hand. The setup took a little longer than I wanted, but took about the amount of time I expected. HOWEVER, it does not fully inform you about placement-- "DO NOT INSTALL NEAR LARGE METAL OBJECTS SUCH AS FILING CABINETS" does not appear til the very last step. My fifth placement attempt (the first 4 were too far from router) was next to an unused radiator. On my sixth placement, SUCCESS!! The location is just slightly over 25 ft. from my wireless router on the same floor (second story location). Now I have wifi access outside on the ground level, one story down and 75 feet away from the range extender. VERY VERY PLEASED!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice and small! Received this unit as a complimentary sample from Linksys directly. In return, the company asked that I provide an unbiased, unpaid, non-financial obligation review. Packaging: The unit comes nicely packed in its box. The outside of the box has enough info to give you an idea of what the unit does and the specs are well detailed. The unit is nicely wrapped in a cushion-able white material that prevents further shifting or scuffing of the unit while in the box. Instructions: The instructions provided are very brief. The quick starting guide gives you basic instructions along with pictures on how to get the unit going. Linksys needs to update these instructions with more detailed info or pictures on how to move the antennas. I was afraid to move the antennas when I was setting up the unit. It took me a couple of tries to get the unit going as I could not get the unit to come up on my iPhone 6+. Coverage: The unit performs quite well. I have pretty fast Internet service. The unit delivers data quite fast and is limited to what current industry Wi-Fi speeds are. There is an Ethernet option at the bottom of the unit to help expand coverage. Summary: If you need to extend your network signal, this is the unit to get. Not expensive and not cheap. It is priced right and you will not regret buying it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great concept Very easy to setup I did have a few issues with linking it to a WRT1900ACS, I found that you need to let it do the work, if you try to set it up manually you might run into issues. Becides this I love it, I wish I could test the audio jack but I don't own anything to plug into it, also it has great speed on the 2.4ghz band I hit 66M down easy! If you have a large how this extender will help greatly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Surprising Solution! Our router has served our house well, all except for the master bedroom. This has made it difficult for my wife to use her tablet there at night. The Linksys WiFi Range Extender turned out to be the surprising solution to this problem! I had never considered this type of product for improving the signal, mainly because I thought the signal was so poor there would be nothing to amplify. However, the outlet near the door had a better signal than the far corner of the room where she used her tablet. It was a simple matter of plugging in the unit, following the prompts, and the room now has a full strength signal. The setup program even reminded me to set up both bands. Speed was nearly as fast as the original signal next to the router, far faster than I expected. About the only thing not automatic is making sure to switch manually to the new channel, which has the "_ext" suffix added to distinguish it from the original. But it you are able to find a suitable signal in range of a desired location with nearly no signal, your device will likely switch over automatically. Either way, this extender will give you a strong signal in just minutes. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Above Expectations I must say I was a little apprehensive about this product, but I have used Linksys in the past and so I thought I would give it a go. When I first saw it I was not sure of the setup and thought that it needed a cable to work and other tools, but to my surprise it was simple. Find a wall outlet and plug it in. When the light stops blinking grab your phone, iPad, or computer go to extender.linksys.com and follow the steps. The set up will even tell you where the extender should be placed. In my case, I had a couple of rooms on the other side of the house that had poor reception, and by placing the extender in that part of the house before the reception dropped, it fixed the reception and improved the reception to like I was standing next to the router. Simple, convenient and works like a charm. But the love does not stop there. We had to go to the grandparents’ house for the weekend and while they do live out in the sticks they do have very slow internet speed, 2 Mbps. But the house is not good for reception (See photos), especially where we stay in the house. So when I go there I am not able to check my emails or anything, literally a tech-free zone. So this time down I packed up the extender and thought I would check it out. I was shocked, to state the simple, I had to reset the extender so it would look for the new modem, and that was very simple. Then I set it up again, which was, again, simple; And I was very surprised by the results. Not only could I now do what I needed on the internet, but it seemed to improve the speed, a little, when I did an internet speed test. This product works great and I must say, I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great!! Easy install I received this extender from Linksys after signing up for friends and family. The unit works really well so far. The real test will come this summer as I have located the extender near my patio/pool area in the rear of the house(not outside do not want to confuse anyone). I have had other extenders from other manufacturers that did not work! My router is an WRT 1900 ac which really has decent range to begin with, but it is located in the center of my home and range becomes limited at the back of the house. The AC1200 extender takes the range way up. As far as setup goes the unit comes with simple easy to follow instructions. it was up and running in a few minutes. The only issue I had was due to my dish network receiver trying to use the extender signal and dropping the other Wi-Fi boxes located throughout the house. I solved this by setting up the extender as a repeater just boosting the signal from my router. This is done by simply removing the (_ext) from the extender id when setting up. Overall I am very pleased with the AC 1200 extender. Please note that I am rating Reliability as good only because 2 weeks is not a long time to use the product. I will say that in that time there have been no issues. I can update the review later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Working Well I have had the RE6700 now for a few weeks and it definitely had made an improvement in my network speeds. Has eliminated buffering when streaming. For those who use MAC address filtering, note that the addresses that are provided are not the correct ones for wireless. One you see is for ethernet connection, but others provided for wireless are not correct. I ended up disabling filtering temporarily and allowing the device to connect. Then obtained the RE6700 MAC address from the main router's connected devices page. This gave me one of the addresses. There are 2, one for each band. The other address is offset by 2 (see the wrong addresses that they provided as an example of offset). Other than working through that device was easy to set up. The reception wasn't good enough in the location I really wanted to use, but I found another outlet elsewhere that still allows the boost I needed. One thing I realized in all the config testing I did, I'd probably benefit even more from a newer main router. I would definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Device The device is placed catty-corner to my router in my house where my Smart LG TV is located. The TV pulls 30-40 mbits without the extender's wifi, and it pulls 50-60 with it. When I hook the ethernet cat 6 up, it pulls 140-160 regularly. This was the primary purpose for its purchase. However, it does not help with any other device in the house that has modern or more advanced internal receivers. Both my iPhone 6 plus and iPhone 6 each slow down with it, and all of my iPads, my treadmill, and other devices do as well. My laptop in the other corner's office does experiece a more reliable - but not quicker - connection. In conclusion, it is merely an "extender" not a "booster" and people need to be aware of that when purchaseing. However, for the right device, in the right location, presumably far from the primary router / modem with a smaller internal receiver and low capability, the extender obviously provides markedly improved service. It is a solid device as long as one knows that they need exactly what it provides and do not accidentally purchase it for something it cannot do. Ease of set up was moderate. With the new email based router administration, it took nearly 15 minutes before my previous LinkSys router flushed out and the new one was properly recognized. It took numerous restarts and power cycles of all devices, but ... once I finally got it recognized - it was as easy as the rest of the product line with the common and advanced LinkSys web-based interface. It does not 'extend' per se, but establishes a separate signal with its own SSID - FYI.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Range I have a 2-story above grade 3600 sq' home with a basement. Due to wiring locations my AC1900 Wi-Fi router is located in the basement, in a closet located on one of the corners of my home. The closet has 3 walls of concrete block and a solid wood door. Obviously this has caused me to have issues with getting little or no Wi-Fi signal to various parts of my home. The RE6700 range extender is now installed in a 1st floor outlet in the center of my home and I have GREAT dual band signal (full bars) anywhere in my home and in my front and back yards. The RE6700 has a light on the front to indicate status and to let you know if it is too far away from the router. The light indicator was very useful after setup to help me find the optimal location to plug in the extender for me to get the best range. It also has antennas on each side that help direct the signal. There is also a pass through outlet so if outlets are a premium you wont lose one because of this. I originally tried to setup the extender with an Hp laptop running Windows 7 and had some issues with continually dropping the Wi-Fi connection during setup. Therefore, I switched to an iPad 3rd generation to complete the setup, which went flawlessly and was easier than the laptop. After it was setup I confirmed that all my Windows laptops and Apple devices were able to connect to the Wi-Fi and I could choose between either the router or extender Wi-Fi. So far my experience has been very positive. This replaced a RE1000 extender and seems to provide a much better range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Linksys support needs some support and training!! I bought this today. My new Smart TV wasn't working with my DSL. The TV installer told me I needed cable. After hours on the telephone with the telephone company who provides my telephone, Internet and TV, I was connected to someone who knew what was going on. After changing the settings on my modem via the computer, he told me I just needed a modem extender. (Expert installer told me the new TV would never work without cable.) Bought this and had some trouble so called Linksys's tech support. My support rep was in another country and for over an hour I could barely understand what she was saying. When she couldn't figure out what to do, she put her supervisor on but by that time, I was connected to the new Smart TV, 4 rooms away.. The modem extender works great but support left a lot to be desired. Sometimes I just don't know why I waste my time!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Easy Setup Ive had this Range Extender a couple weeks now and have tested it throughout my house in various plug outlets where my wifi signal was getting pretty slow or weak. The setup of this extender couldnt be any easier. The few steps are very well explained and documented in the quick setup guide. Once it is in a good spot and you put in your passwords you are all set. Easy as that. Now the range extender did just that, it extended the wifi range on the first level of our house. I was hoping that we would be able to put this in the basement or even in a plug on the first floor right above the basement and it send some signal down there but no luck. It wouldn't extend to our basement, but Im not faulting the device for this as Im not sure they are really designed to transmit signal down. One Con that I did notice thought was that the wifi speed dropped after the extender was plugged in. I tested my wifi speed in the office right next to the router before I setup the extender and after in the same spot. As you can see from the pics attached the speed did decrease even though I was right beside the router. Overall I would say that if you dont mind losing a little speed and have a ranch style house that has some dead spots this is definitely a product you should get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extend Wi-fi signal Setup was relatively easy. Has gigabit ethernet wired connection & able to stream audio wirelessly, but I only used Wi-Fi feature. A quick start guide is included, but doesn't talk about how to use audio feature or how to set it up. Setup SW let you know ideal range of the extender's location when you setup. Connected to Netgear R6300 router. Using Speedtest, direct connection to router registers ~229Mbps. Through RE6700, it was registering 86Mbps using 5GHz on both. That said, it extended distance of the signal for ~66 foot, but signal gets inconsistent around the edge where the signal reaches. Signal is reduces when there are more walls in between. Overall, a good extender if you need extra distance. It doesn't keep up with the speed of the router, but enough to stream movies from your server or from YouTube/Amazon Video to the phone. Have not tried using computer or video player.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Easy Setup, Range extended, but Slows Speeds I received this Linksys RE6700 AC1200 range extender in exchange for my honest review. Overall, it is difficult to review this device, since it is meant to be out of sight and out of mind. I think the best place to start is the setup. Overall it was very simple: plug it into an outlet, and then directly connect to the extender on wifi. The setup is simple, and is almost entirely automated, just choose the wireless signal you want to extend, and that's it. It is important to understand HOW this device forwards your signal. Because it is dual band, to decrease latency, you connect on one band (say 5Ghz) and the extender re-sends your data on the other (2.4Ghz) to the wifi router. In general, this is fine, but when on the extender, you will not likely be able to get full speeds that you would otherwise. BUT you can get a signal where you might not otherwise have had any. I ran two speed tests, both connecting on the 5Ghz band, the first to the extender and the second to the router itself. Most importantly, the extender definitely increased the reach of the wifi out into the backyard where it was almost nil previously. The feature I'm most interested in, however, is the ability to plug in a set of speakers into the extender, and stream from a device. Unfortunately, I have not yet had a chance to break out my speakers from storage...though I certainly plan to do that soon. Pros: - Super easy setup, and the Spot Finder worked very easily (if you need to use it again though, you need to do a factory reset and run the setup again) - Good extension of the wifi signal where it was weak previously. - Ability to stream to speakers - Additional ethernet port Cons: - Slows data transmission rates somewhat.

The instructions were easy to follow and ended up placing the range extender in the kitchen located at the front of the house which was identified by Spot Finder Technology as the ideal location. The kitchen is adjacent to the den where we watch TV and is an area that has been identified as an area with an extremely weak wifi signal. Using the WiFi Sweetspot App, signal strength measured 985mps which was great. Problem solved! Nope. When I walked from the kitchen to the den, which is 10-15 feet to the couch, signal strength dropped drastically to the low 100's and lower. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed at the moment and have been unable to determine why there's such a drastic drop in signal strength going from the kitchen to the den which is 10-15 feet from the extender. One wall with an open doorway separates the two rooms. The RE6700AC1200 range extender is not the problem and I'm currently at a loss in trying to figure out what is the problem. I'm still troubleshooting and hope that I can update my review when I finally fix the problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Effective repeater with nice performance. Configures quickly with a very clean web UI. Recognizes placement and tells you when it is too close or to far from the router. Interface is arranged logically and is very crisp. The 5Ghz communication with the router, regardless of attached devices frequency improves throughput nicely. Network utilities show the attached devices with the same MAC address as the Extender (Router within a router). The Extender's UI does show the attached devices MAC's, so this is a not an issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, intuitive setup I have purchased and used a couple of range extenders before and have been less than fully satisfied with them either because installation instructions were confusing or that the performance was not as expected. I was not getting a strong or consistent signal from my router, installed in the basement to my bedroom on the second floor. As a result I was anxious to try the RE6700. Reviews about the product I saw from others on the internet were generally favorable. Upon receipt of the unit I found my experience with the product was everything I had expected. installation and configuration were simple and intuitive. I was up in running in no time and found the streaming video services I use fast and consistent. The one issue was the lack of any documentation about the use of the "spot finder" utility. However, this is not a particular critical issue. Overall, quite satisfied with the product and would gladly recommend it to anyone who requires more range on their home wifi.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Money Saver I received a free RE6700 AC1200 range extender in exchange for my review and honest feed back. I use the RE6700 to extend the range of my single channel Century Link C1000 A. The results far exceeded my expectations. Using the extender I was able to access the control panel of my solar system installed on the roof of my shop located 150' from the extender. I was on the verge of installing a underground cable to access the internet but thanks to the RE6700 that won't be necessary, saving me several dollars and a lot of work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple Effective Range Extender We have a small flat and get great coverage except for one area which happens to be a home office. There are a couple walls, including one wall with metal piping running through it, which causes the signal to drop from 50+ Mbps to less than one Mbps. The Linksys RE6700 was easy to setup and took less than five minutes. The dead zone now has dual band coverage running about 35 Mbps, more than enough for our needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Extender Ive Used First, I received this product as a free gift for my honest and unbiased opinion on the product. I was skeptical about this extender because past ones haven't been reliable but Linksys thought of everything with the RE6700 extender. The setup was incredibly easy and quick and it helped me find a perfect location to plug it in. Rooms where I got 0-2 bars of signal now get full signal. Speed has little to no difference than if my device was connected to the router itself. The plugin on the extender is awesome, I always hate taking up plugs with something I never physically use but with the built in plug its not a worry. I never would have thought an audio jack would be useful and I probably wont use it but I did try it out just to see how easy it was to use and the sound quality. Any device I play music on that is connected to the network can play through any speakers I plug into the extender. It doesn't improve the sound at all but I was surprised that it didn't lower the sound quality either. Definitely useful if youre a big music person. They really thought of everything when they made this. I have been using it for a week and if anything goes bad Ill update my post.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made a big difference I recently had bought the WRT 3200ACM router and max stream usb AC600 wi-fi adapter. They worked great together but my previous range extender wasn't dual band. So I upgraded to RE6700. Made a big difference in signal and speed. I work from home and use the wi-fi for my work pc which is about 75 feet, down the hall, around 2 corners and in a bedroom/office. My bars went from 2 and maybe 3 to a solid 5 all the time. My speeds were greatly increased. We have 5 or 6 wi-fi items attached at all times and never really notice a slow down. We have to use Wave Broadband where we live. Good company but they track your usage and will cut back bandwidth if you go over. We haven't yet as we bought one of the bigger allotments. Oh...we have their 100mbps package. At the router we get 115 or better. I have a Linksys cable modem too. One last comment- using the AC600 usb adaptor, on COD Infinite Warfare- FPS went from 60 to 95. I'm still no good at the game, but it's fun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup and delivers extended wi-fi coverage! I received this from Linksys at no charge for evaluation and an honest review. The setup is very easy using the phone app. It confirmed that the extender was installed in the correct location to give max coverage at max signal strength. I have been impressed with the range, as my wireless signal is strong even in my detached garage. No more dropped signals, and can stream my Roku with no problems. If you need to get a better signal, I would recommend the Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful Little Device The Linksys Dual Band Wi-Fi Range Extender is a powerful little device for anyone that needs to extend the ranger of their home Wi-Fi___33 signal. I placed the device on the opposite end of my home to help boost my signal toward my one side of my yard. While using this extender, I was able to stream music to my iPhone via Spotify while mowing my yard with no interruptions or issues. Even up close in the same room, it worked just a great as being near my main router. Right out of the box, I found setup to be easy as well. The included guide was great and the "best location finder" that I used on my iPhone was very helpful as well. The convenience of the outlet is great too. Now if needed, I do not have to give up an electrical plug just for this device. The only con I had, was the often times my main router was producing a more powerful signal, that overpowered the Extender and would need to manually connect to use via the iPhone settings. Let it be noted, that I had upgraded my router recently which provided a better range of signal than my previous router. Otherwise, I have no issues or complaints for this Extender and would recommend it for anyone that is in need of one. Linksys provided this Range Extender at no cost to me in exchange for my honest opinion of this product. All opinions are of my own and I was not compensated in any method or form.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WiFi Extender - Easy to Install The Linksys RE6700 WiFi range extender is the easiest way to extend your WiFi signal to any dead areas in your home or office. The initial setup and connectivity could not be easier. Once you set it up you can forget it and enjoy the additional internet connectivity it provides. If you decide to move it to a new area, unplug it and move it to the new area, make sure the signal from the main WiFi device is within reach via the mobile app (Phone, Tablet or Laptop can be used) and plug it in a new outlet and Voila it is a new active WiFi area.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surveillance Extension I bought this unit yesterday. The Main Router is an EA6500 series. It is located in the front half of my home and doesn't quite reach the security cameras mounted on the back of the house and overlooking the alley from the garage. I plugged this unit into an outlet at the back of the house and the reception was immediately better. A little twerking of antenna position as described in the online documentation and the two cams no longer lose connectivity at all. Can't tell about reliability yet, but time will tell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great. I can now see Netflix movies. In the past I've had trouble getting a strong signal from one end of my ranch house to the other where my t.v. is located. 85 feet to be exact, but now with the range extender I get a perfect signal every time. However, I wish the engineers at Linksys would realize that it gets cold in some parts of the country and we use radiators to keep warm, not forced hot air, but good old fashioned hot water radiators and as a result, since the electrical code calls for electric outlets to be X inches from the floor, this means when you plug in this particular range extender, the bottom edge just hits the top of the radiator anywhere I put it in house, so I'm not able to plug it fully into the receptacle. Thus I had a very hard time finding a place to plug it in on a wall without a radiator. It wasn't an ideal location, but it worked nonetheless. I would suggest that your engineers change the bottom edge of the plastic housing just a bit by eliminating the sloped shape to a flat one, that alone should allow it to clear the radiators.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional Performance I have been using another manufacturers range extender for about a year now and have been satisfied with its performance. That is, until I tried the Linksys RE6700 AC1200 AMPLIFY Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender and realized what I had been missing and how much I had "settled for poor performance". The Extender is a one piece solution to increasing One's W--Fi performance within the home or small office environment. It was extremely easy to set up (from box to up-and-running took less than 3 minutes) using the available IPhone App. It's performance in both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands can only be classified as exceptional with, in my judgement (purely subjective), a more than 50% increase in range over my previous extender. I also ran a series of speed tests and found the usual thru-put reduction that one experiences with range extenders due to the need to transmit and receive in the same bandwidth but the RE6700 was unfailing in it's ability to stream Netflix videos and other similar items without frame freezes or lost frames which was not the case with my previous extender. Would highly recommend the RE6700 to anyone who is afraid to "mess with" trying to set up equipment of this type as this item is truly "Plug-&-Play"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed This extender worked for about a week before it stopped working altogether. I stopped trying to get it to work after only a few weeks and only occasionally dig it out to try again. Since I live in a small enough place it's not really a crucial part of my network but it would have been nice if it lasted more than a week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from On the extension even when the signal is weak I do not know if the problem is with the iOS or the Linksys software. My problem was that my walls are thick and without the extender I got only a weak Wi-Fi signal in a room about 35 feet away. I got no Wi-Fi signal in my kitchen beyond that room. The app showed that I had to put the extender in the room next to the router - about 18 feet away. That sent a signal to the room with the other computer and in the kitchen. Unfortunately, Windows 7 cannot find that signal among those to be selected. The signal seems to fill the kitchen. That is great, but when I walk through the kitchen with my iPhone, which connects to the extender automatically, and then go to the bedroom, which has a strong signal from the router and only a feeble signal from the extender, it does not automatically change over to the router's signal. I am constantly going to settings to put it on the router's signal, where it stays until I go to the areas covered by the extender. Then on returning to an area near the router, I have to manually reset the chosen router. I wish that it would find the strongest signal automatically.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong signal, terrifyingly easy setup This replaced a small travel router/extender I bought for around $20 a year ago to boost signal on the second floor of our townhouse. Said travel router always had "meh" performance when it came to extending the range of our router on the first floor. There was definitely signal in all the rooms, but data didn't always move as fast as it ought to. So when Linksys sent me this product in exchange for a honoest review of its performance, I was very excited to take it for a spin. I certainly admire the ease of setup on this device, but the fact that it does it via cloud services still kind of creeps me out. Pretty much all I had to do was point it to my existing network, confirm that I did indeed want to use the same network names on the extender, and let it go to town. Though I prefer the old-fashioned way of configuring everything myself, I can appreciate how quickly this gets up and running. I have not tried the audio speaker plug-in feature. I can see how some might appreciate the feature, but to me it's totally useless. My extender is located in an upstairs hallway and I'm not about to run a cable out of it and into a bedroom. I'd suggest that a bluetooth connection might be a more valuable way for most users to connect speakers to this device. In terms of range extension, I can't really vouch one way or the other for Linksys' claims that it can add up to 10,000 sq. feet of coverage. My townhouse is maybe 3,000-ish square feet over two stories and even my powerful Linksys WRT router on the first floor has trouble getting through a floor and walls to deliver decent signal to the entire place. That said, placing this in the upstairs hallway did resolve all my weak signal worries. It also appears to have made the overall signal strong enough to keep me connected when I'm in the driveway of our building. Overall, I'd say it's certainly worth the current price ($99) and would even suggest the smart thing to do is pair it with a cheap AC/N router for your home instead of spending big on the router itself. You'll probably end up with better coverage and performance for what you pay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Way to extend network! I found the RE6700 an excellent solution to extend the network in a very large house (7,000 Sq Ft). At first, not easy to figure out optimal location and installation. As we moved it from one place in the house to another, it became easier to find ultimate location. I also liked the feature that allows it to be named different than the router; this way, you can determine if devices around the house are connected to router or extender. This should be highlighted more. I am pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WiFi Everywhere I live in a 175 year old brick row house. My internet connection is through cable service, with the connection in a second floor office. There was sporadic signal strength on the first level. Now a strong, even signal everywhere. Can not wait for Linksys to introduce a device that will do the same for mobile phone call reception. Clear set up instructions. Spot finder eliminates guess work. It just took me a while to figure out what my computer needed to do to use the Linksys set up software.

In fact, the signal is even strong to the front and back lawns! Smart TV performance also vastly improved. Notwithstanding its very good performance, set-up left something to be desired. Muddled my way through and got it installed but I never found the “Spot Finder Technology” so just moved it around until I got the strongest signal. Great product but set-up and installation could be improved.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy setup and works like a charm! I've always used a Linksys wireless router, but it is located in the office on the third level of my home. While I still got a signal on the lower levels, it was less than optimal. With the RE6700 AC1200 wi-fi range extender, I get maximum signal in every room - even outside on the deck! Setup was a breeze. It even directed me to the optimal location to place it in the house for best performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty Amazing Amazed at the performance of the RE6700. This is my first go at a Range Extender and had heard from friends that they did not have much luck in the past with the extenders. My RE6700 is installed in my detached garage and is 88’ (tape measured) from the router at the far end of my home. The signal must pass through two exterior walls as well as an interior, not to mention the gaggle of boxes and such in the garage. Before when using my phone and Bluetooth speaker to listen to music in the garage I had the best luck opening the garage doors and setting my phone on boxes close to the open door. Even that was flaky at best. Installed the RE6700, which was quite simple and straight forward and was up and running in minutes. Results: Even though the setup software suggested I move the RE6700 closer to the router, which was not happening unless I wire in a new electrical outlet, the RE6700 was cranking out both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz at a solid Five Bars. Doors closed, in all sorts of weather I am getting a steady solid 5Ghz and loving my music in the shop. I was truly amazed that picking up a one to two bar status from the router it would pump it up to Five Bars. I am part of a review group for Linksys and provided the equipment for an honest review of the product. I can honestly tell you I love this small gadget; I am no longer listening to the local junk radio stations but streaming good music. An excellent solution in the real world. Do like the electric socket pass-through as the RE6700 covers my outlet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy and effective way to extent your wi-fi This device is easy to set up and works well even if you decide not to use its advanced settings. My old dual-band router that I was using as an access point on the far end of the house died and I had the opportunity to test this extender for free in exchange for my review. By default the automatic setup connected to my router by pairing the 2.4 GHz channels 1 and 6. I'm already using channel 6 for an ad hoc network and I didn't want interference. I used the extender's advanced settings to use the 5GHz band to link to my router and set my router to use channel 1 and the extender to channel 11, providing two non-overlapping channels. The extender is easy to set up in a few minutes and should work fine for most people even if you decide not to use the advanced settings. You connect to the extender using a computer, phone or tablet, select your network and enter the password and within minutes your extended network is online. I placed mine about 60 feet from my router with a wall between the two and now have effective coverage on both bands inside the house and into the far corners of the backyard. Before the extender the 5GHz band was not reliably usable there. Because the extender shares the same channel(s) as your router, the maximum speed at which it can pass data will be less than that of your router. For me it worked flawlessly to connect my phone and tablet streaming video on both. The extender has one Ethernet port and also the ability to directly connect to wireless speakers. I did not test these features. In summary, this is an effective, easy-to-use product that should satisfy both network novices and those with more advanced networking experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Range extender could be the cat's meow The advertised spot finder technology is not available to the customer it can only be accessed through linksys customer support during setup and in my case the extender was wired to the router which show the extender too close to the router. So I have no idea if my extender is in the ultimate position or still too close to the router. Up to this point I have no problem with any of the linksys products but this product can without the advertised technology.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaced a NetGear and Beats it Hands Down With my high end NetGear extender I had to burn CDs and take them to a hard wire computer to move my image files up to Fine Art America. Luckily the Netgear quit working and Best Buy honored the extended warranty we bought with this Linksys extender. This extender has no problem moving the image file up and is actually nearly as fast as the hard wire. Problem is that Best Buy no longer offers an extended warranty ON ANY EXTENDERS we tried. This coupled with a very expensive 1 year service agreement with NeatGear drove me to Linksys. Now to find out what the cost of a yearly on line help contract is. I hope it's better than 139.99 a year!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for access in a real bad "Dead Spot" I tested it in three different wall outlets to find the best signal. Set up was easy and quick. Will get another one for our lake house where our neighbor said we could use his wireless signal at our place on weekends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great data rate increase and easy setup The setup process was very easy to follow. It was up and running in less than 5 minutes. I live in a relatively small house so the problem with WiFi wasn't that I got too far away but that I live in a townhome complex so there are close to 20 routers on conflicting bands nearby that decrease my SNR pretty significantly. On the 5GHz band I got ~50% increase and on the 2.4GHz band I got ~40% increase in upload and download data rate. This product is fantastic for things that don't move around the house like a desktop computer or gaming system but, to no fault of this device, for things like your phone or laptop that go in and out of range of the extender and primary router you have to be aware of what SSID your device is trying to connect to. While it's easy to manually change which WiFi source your phone is connecting to it is just a little inconvenient. Overall, by using this I can reliably and quickly connect to the Internet throughout my house now without having to use my phone's LTE connection which has been very convenient and has saved my phone bill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I received this item for review and just set it up this weekend to test. It works well with my linksys AC1900 ACS. I was amazed of the difference in signal strength by taking my phone and tablet out to our porch and then the back yard. The signal jumped up 2 bars and I had no trouble using my devices outside the house. My husband also noticed better performance with his gaming on his wireless desktop computer inside our house. This Wi-FI extender is another great product from linksys and I can highly recomment this item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Wi-Fi extender The Linksys RE6700 AC1200 Amplify Dual-Band Wi-Fi Range Extender is an excellent addition to extending your signal from one side of your house to another. It has the following features capable of working with any router. It comes pack with cross band technology, 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Dual band, Wi-Fi audio, and Beam-forming technology. According to the specifications it can expand Wi-Fi range up to 10,000SQ.FT. In my test cases I used both a Linksys router and another router (not linksys brand). The setup is very simple connect it to a wall outlet and once its powered up, connect to it using a laptop and finalize the configuration. The RE6700 comes with spot finder technology which lets you know if you are too close or too far from the router. In my test case I connected the RE6700 gigabit Ethernet port to the Linksys switch the SE4008 model. The devices that I connected to the switch was the new apple TV, Playstation 4, and computer. I started streaming and playing content all at once and not once did I have a bandwidth issue or packet loss. My second scenario was to connect the devices via Wi-Fi connected to the extender and start streaming content on all devices. Once again I didn't experience any issues. In conclusion, the RE6700 Wi-Fi offers cool features for those who are looking to extend their range to areas where the routers signal can reach to its full potential. The two antennas can be move around for better signal, it comes with a reset button, WPS button, 1 Gigabit Ethernet port, and one audio port to plug your favorite speaker system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very user friendly Set up of my new device was very easy. Once I was able to connect it to my main router, it extended WIFI signal throughout my whole house. I love the fact that when I go to the farthest part of my back yard, I take it with me and just connect it to an outlet in my garage where main route signal is poor, and just wait for it to connect automatically to the main router without me having to re-do the set up. Once it connects, it brings back WIFI signal to "excellent" extending internete access even to my driveway and farther than required.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Full Bars Everywhere I received this device free of charge from Linksys in exchange for honest feedback. The extender was extremely easy to set up and was completed in less than 5 minutes. I have a large home (2300+ sq. ft.) and they're some dead Wi-Fi spots in the second floor of my home which is the furthest away from the router. The extender was able to find the signal and do what it states. I switched to the extender network with a tablet and used it to start a movie to see how it worked. No problems. Connected and streamed without a glitch. I am very surprised by how well it worked and the ease of setup. My only note would be that it seems a little strange looking plugged into the outlet, however the fact that it has an outlet built in so I don't lose the use of one is great. I would recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wi-Fi Extender Works Great! I live in an older 3 story house with a big back porch on the back. We spend a lot of time outside but really wanted Wi-Fi to watch Netflix etc. My router (Linksys WRT 1900ACS) is on the 3rd floor on the front of the house so my signal has never worked outside at the back. BUT....the RE6700 Extender has solved the problem. I can watch Netflix on my phone, PC or smart TV on the back porch now. I was out of town when the product was delivered but it only took 5-6 minutes to do the setup (used my iPhone) and get everything connected. Could not have worked any better or been any simpler. So far it's worked great. Just wish I had done this earlier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works fine, setup doesn't seem elegant I have been trying out this range extender for about 2 weeks now. It works fine. It might be me, but setup, even though easy, was a bit confusing. I had thought that this would extend my original network, but it creates a new wireless network which remote devices connect to. The range extender then connects back to the router. This works fine - similarly to a competitive device I have also tried. It just doesn't seem as elegant an answer to remote connections as I thought it would be. Quality of build is fine, with a 110V AC electrical outlet on its face - leaving an outlet available. I was able to plug it into the bottom of two wall outlets and the top outlet was still accessible. I will further test this unit with a web cam located quite a distance away from my router which in the past had trouble connecting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Unstable I bought 2 RE6700 and I returned both. In the past I have bought every range extender Linksys made and none of them were stable. I had IP address conflicts and drops all the time. I ended up buying an Apple Express and the issue of range was resolved.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helpful product The extender was purchased to help get a stronger signal at the opposite end of my home from where my Linksys WRT 1900 ACS wifi transmitter is located. While I was at long last getting a wifi signal at that end of the house, the signal on the extender would occasionally go orange (loss of signal). I have since repositioned the extender to another outlet, which so far is working much, much better. The extender was very easy and quick to set up; perhaps two minutes. I am very pleased with the product so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Increased range and speed This extender works perfectly to extend the range of our WiFi and increased both the download and upload speeds. The only downside is it creates an additional WiFi address to select and log-in to. So, if I am using the WiFi in my office where the router is located and move to our lower level, I have to change WiFi addresses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! I bought two of these range extenders a few months ago, and I'm really glad I did. The walls in our NYC apartment make staying connected while traveling from room to room difficult. The single strength was spotty at best, and more often than not it was non existent. Now we can move to every room in the house without interruption. The set-up was a breeze and we were up and running in minutes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easiest setup I put the RE6700 in my attached garage to increase my wifi range while I'm in the front of my house...and did it ever. I can now cross the street and still be online with my wifi. The initial setup was so easy, just plug it in and when the light turns green log on with a wifi enabled device for some easy setup and your done. I will say I had a problem changing settings a day later because it would kick me out when I tried to save the changes. I was able to work around the problem by logging on while on my original wifi router and I've had no problems since.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product I received a free sample of the RE6700 Wi-Fi Range Extender from Linksys in exchange for honest feedback on how the product works. First, the product was shipped very securely and had a very simple to follow set of instructions for setup. Following the instructions, I was able to connect the extender to my home network. I placed the extender in an upstairs room area farthest away from my existing Linksys router access point, as I felt I could maybe get a stronger signal in this area of my home by using the extender. After getting it all working, I have used the new extended network many times - I find that I do seem to have a faster, more responsive internet signal, especially when doing media related things - like a movie or streaming music. My home isn't that large, and after better understanding this product and working with it, I can see how it could really help extend your wifi signal to your garage, backyard, any outdoor building reasonably close to your home, etc. - it really does "extend" the signal as advertised, and helps get rid of any "dead spots" in your home network.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable, strong signal extension, dual band A+++ I will start this review by simply stating the following. The Setup: This LINKSYS RE6700 AC1200 amplifier is definitely a huge improvement over the previous models in the fine line of LINKSYS products, it's ridiculously easy to set up (No CD needed) All you need to do is unpack this unit from the box, plug it to your wall outlet and give a solid 2-3 minutes boot up time, after that, you simply log into this LINKSYS RE6700 AC1200 amplifier by entering the printed/provided login information and password (look for it on the device itself or the box it came in). It's that easy. After you do that, it will take you to the GUI (interface) and all you have to do is just provide your current-existing network (Wi-fi) credentials and boom, the new network shows up in your devices with an (EXT) name after whatever the name of your current network is. But you can also change it during the set up and name it whatever you choose it to be, and that's it, you are done and ready to surf the internet with this amplifier that provides dual band for newer and older devices (2.4Ghz- most devices use this band) and of course the amazing blazing fast 5Ghz band that if you're near your router or this LINKSYS amplifier it will provide you with a blazing speedy internet connection to browse, watch videos, or do whatever you want with that speed. I timed how long it took me to set up this device and the result for me was between 5 -6 solid minutes (booting up and configuring the network) and testing it of course. Stability/Price: The reason I'm giving it a 4 star though is because I did have to reset this device since the initial connection and set up took place at least once, for some reason it dropped my connection altogether, but then i realized my router was about 35ft away from it, and the doors were closed and my walls are very thick, so maybe that was on me, but either way, I've left my door open since that time and no drops have occurred since then, I've also push it's capacity by testing it for a up to 12 hrs with the doors closed and it doesn't drops the connection, maybe it was just a hiccup, maybe it was my router, but I'm skeptical, and if I do see at least another 3-5 drops I will definitely review my rating. The other reason I also awarded this device a 4 star rating was because of the price tag, while it's not the most expensive out there, I believe these should be more affordable, they are so helpful for every dead spot in the house that I understand why it has to be priced at the current price out there, but just a personal point of view. Range/Devices: Anyways, I've tested this with my iPad, Droid tablet, iPhone, etc, and the range is significantly expanded and consistently delivering 5 solid bars of signal throughout my 3,600sqf 2 story property, this is impressive for such a small device, and the added bonus on this device?, the outlet it has in the front saves me from using another ugly power extension, this is why I also gave it a 4 star, this is so helpful, thank you LINKSYS for thinking about that small but very important detail. On my desktop and laptop which are currently using Windows 7 and Windows 10 OS, the speeds are being delivered on point! no complaints from me there. Overall I thin this is well built device, it's solid, and I definitely see it has features not found in other current extenders and it's great alternative if you don't want to use another router as an AP (access point) or repeater. This is well worth the money but still, it'd be nice if they were a bit lower in price. Please also note I received this device sample free of cost in exchange for my unbiased honest review. Thank you, have a great day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Package I got this fancy little box through the Linksys Friends + Family program, and I must say it is a nice little add-on. 1) Unboxing was straight-forward two slips of paper and the little plug-extender. One slip was the mandatory regulatory information, the other was a quick start guide, showing setup. 2) Setup, nothing good be easier! Plug in into the wall, let it boot and use almost any wireless device to log into this little bad boy, find your existing wireless network, enter passwords and it's good to go. 3)Use. It is advertised as an extension and while it works in that regard I found that it helped some, but not a great deal. I have an EA9200 router stashed away in the master bedroom and it has no issues being found in the entire house. While the extender didn't necessarily have better range, I have found that the data throughput was more consistent using it, and the real advantage was the Ethernet port on the bottom. This by itself was a huge boon, as now I can put my son's desktop computer in his room (and out of my office) without worrying about buying a separate wireless adapter, or running cables through the wall. Overall 4/5

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed for the first time I received this extender free for evaluation from Linksys. I was really looking forward to set it up but my work kept me away from it. Finally I was home and set it up, and to my dismay, for the first time ever I was disappointed with a Linksys product. First time when I plugged it in I was in a crammed location near my printer where I wanted better connection and was hoping to get a hard wired connection to my old XBox, and it was nearer to my wifi (which is also a Linksys product) but it showed a weak connection. I assumed it was because I could not open up both of it antennas wide. So I had to move it away to an open area, further away, with both antennas open and surely the connection worked. To make sure that it was truly a problem with the antenna, I closed the antenna at the same location and it showed weak connection. With both the antenna open the footprint for it becomes wider than I would like. I followed the setup as it suggested by connecting to the ip for setup. I set it up to use different SSID and after completing the setup, it restarted and I was able to see the new SSID but to my disappointment there was no internet connection. Restart did not fix it either. So I reset and tried again and still not luck. This was the first time ever that a Linksys setup did not work right out of the box for me. So I decided to reset and this time try to use same SSID as my wifi. The setup suggests against it, but it works that way too. With that setup, surely I was able to now see the SSID (same as my Wifi) with a stronger signal. I know it was not my wifi because I used to get only get 2 bars at that location. I connected to that wifi, and bingo, the connection worked, and it seemed fast and I was a happy camper. 2 days into my setup I soon realized an issue with my connections. Every now and then I would not get internet working or was slow. After some tinkering around I found that my connections don’t switch over from my main wifi to the extender seamlessly. So if I was connected to my extender and was further away from it but closer to my main wifi, the phone won’t switch over to my main wifi and will suffer a weak connection. Obviously with only 2 antennas v/s 6 on my wifi, it was very weak. So I had to reset my phone connection everytime for it to switch to the fastest network. Another issue I found is once I put too many devices (3 phones, Printer, Amazon Fire TV and Ipad) the connections were slow on simultaneous usage. So I turned off the extender and everything went back to normal. I tried setting up a separate SSID and it worked this time (I don’t know what was wrong first time) but then my phones and other roaming devices did not seamlessly switch over to the other SSID anyways. So again went back to using same SSID and only put two devices in that area on it and they are working fine. I have always been a Linksys user and really love their products but I am surely disappointed. I have not given up on the product yet and will keep tinkering with it. It could also be that my expectation from an extender is wrong or too much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Faster outside with the Range Extender I've used this product outside in my backyard (on the patio) three times now since initially setting it up, which was quite a simple process (using your existing Wi-Fi router password). I have to say I definitely notice a positive difference in range and connectivity. Without it, sometimes my reception straight from the Wi-Fi router drops and I experience internet service disruptions (connectivity problems such as pages taking too long to load or timing out). With this product I'm able to get a consistent signal. For the distance away from it that I am (approximately 15', but also around the corner of a structure), I would anticipate a full signal, and while this is usually the case, sometimes it drops one bar (this is on a laptop, so it could have something to do with the laptop's Wi-Fi capabilities too). The connection does not seem to be interrupted however, and that is the main thing. It is possible that my occasional loss of signal also has to do with the orientation I have to use when plugging the device into power. My outlets are only sideways, so I'm forced to orient it sideways. I also have a plastic protector over the outlets which then has to sit atop the Range Extender when plugged in. The sideways orientation and plastic protector may have an impact on the designed functionality of the antennae. Most people would probably not have this problem and would be able to plug it in as intended. I would advise anyone using this product outdoors to unplug it when you're done with it and bring it back inside with you until your next use. Mostly so it doesn't get stolen. Also of course to minimize exposure to weather and other potential hazards (flying debris, etc.). I'm sure it is weather-proof to some degree and designed to hold up long-term against the elements, but I like to be cautious. Unplugging it, at least from my outlets and in the orientation I have to have it (sideways) is rather difficult - you'll have to really pull to get it out. I see that as a good thing (it's not going anywhere while plugged in) and a not-so-good thing (if you're not very strong, you might have a real difficulty with this; also, there's a very likely possibility that when you do pull it, you will fall backwards or bump into something - I was pulling so hard the first time I unplugged that I actually slammed the edge of the Range Extender into the side of my house). All in all, I enjoy using this product, which ultimately improves my connection when I'm not indoors. I rate it a 4 out of 5 stars overall due to the positive benefits, but I think it could be improved by having an adjustable three-prong plug that can better accommodate sideways outlets, so that in my case, and possibly others’, the device orientation is vertical as intended, instead of horizontal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product We bought this extender as we were experiencing substantial signal degradation in our home. The extender was very easy to install and signal strength is no longer an issue, even in the remotest places in our home. Very pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Value for Money The RE6700 was very easy to install but has no where the range that is advertised. It is only 15 to 20 feet from my WiFi and it has a problem keeping a constant strong signal. It does serve it's purpose for the most part, but I would probably look in some other range finder if the signal strength was critical.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Customer service is great. I had issues with this particular unit. It keeps losing signal and it cannot keep it's time and date. Customer service was very helpful and will buy another linksys product in the future just not this particular one.
