Rated 5 out of 5 by from Okay. This LG unit is not as good as a lower quality/ priced Sony Blu-Ray player. The remote does not work well and is hard to use as well as the user interface. I could not find the any aps and there is no internet browser. If all you want to do is play discs then this unit will do that just fine.

The player plays everything I have wanted to play so far. 4k movies, blu-rays and DVD's. The color and picture is just beautiful. This player is a huge upgrade from my old player. My old player was unable to be updated to play the latest discs so I had to pick and choose certain discs to play. I have not tried to play a compact disc so I can not say how the player handles that. The price I paid, under 99 dollars was a great deal. Overall I am very happy so far !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Okay for a basic disc player It was okay at a sale price. If I had paid more I would have been disappointed. As it stands now as long as it works I'm okay. I hope one is allowed to amend a review in six months if the product dies. Pros: It does a decent job of upscaling DVDs which is mostly what I use it for on the rare occasion I actually watch a disc. It also has a front facing USB port that will play videos off a flash drive. I have no use for yet another smart device so it's not connected but the ethernet port may be helpful to someone who needs it. Cons: Extremely bright and annoying standby light which is different from the "On" light. I had to cover with black tape. Zero front display other than the two lights. Small remote with tiny buttons that are hard to read, especially in the dark. The usual invasion of privacy if you have it connected. If you don't need it for streaming just use it as a stand-alone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Player A month ago, we replaced a decades old 1080p Blu-ray player with the LG UBK80 and what a difference. Adding the LG unit to our system was easy and quick. The UBK80 loads discs much more quickly than our previous player. Our previous player would occasionally struggle reading discs and freeze completely. We've used a number of new and older disc in the UBK80 and all have played flawlessly.

This player has everything you need, would be nice to have the Wi-Fi , but I didn’t want to spend extra money just for that. Otherwise it’s the same as the LG90 model. It’s pricey ,but it is worth every dollar I spent on it. You must have 4K DVD to get the best picture you could ever imagine.

While I can see and hear DVDs or Blu-Ray ok, one feature I liked (I thought), was that I was assured it would play CDs as well. I still have a lot of old CDs and they sound better and are more convenient than streaming the music. Yes, it plays CDs, but unlike my old LG Blu-Ray Player, it does not show you the track names on the screen - only "Track 1, Track 2, etc." If I want to search for a particular song, without referring to a CD jacket listing, I can't do that. Best Buy Support and LG Support were happy to tell me that their players no longer have that simple technology that was common a dozen years ago. So, the new same brand player that I have purchased at a higher price has less technology than their old ones.

I purchased my new LG 4K Blu-Ray Player less than 3 weeks ago and IT IS EXACTLY the type of 3D Blue-Ray Disc/CD Playback/DVD, and Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Player I NEEDED! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hope UBK80 is the tank the DP132 is. Perfect "DUMB" 4K Player. I have been using a very similar BD/DVD player by LG at work since the start of the pandemic. The old one runs 24/7 365/366 on leap years. I have been trying to find the 4K equivalent as sometimes 4K is easy to obtain, and I think this may fit the replacement bill. We will see as the years and hours rack up. I can not have Wi-Fi or BT on the player in order to bring it into my workplace and this is the perfect item for that. So far works just like the BD/DVD model no one even noticed the change, except they can not play the 4K discs that were brought in and sitting around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall Pretty Good I would give it a 5, but have had some issues with the disc door. I had to send it in for repair after the disc door would no longer open. I received the unit back a couple weeks later and then the door would not close. It has been sent back again, so hopefully it gets fixed this time.

Some players play at variable speeds from one frame at a time to many times normal speed forward and backward. This one doesn't have those features. This one allows freeze frame, slow motion 1, 2, 3, & 4 frames/sec. The front controls are minimal. The remote control is the tiny 5 1/4" x 1 3/4".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Closed Caption is tiny and can't be changed While the digital caption settings let you change things like the caption font size and color, none of the settings take effect. I tried making the captions larger, and nothing changes. Also, if you stop playback and go back to it later, the captions won't show. LG support also had problems even understanding the problem, thinking I was talking about a TV rather than a Blu-ray player.

I do wish that is was possible to control the TV, disc player, and the sound system with just the TV remote, but I have not yet figured out if this is possible.

The first time there was a defect and a disk wouldn't fit into the machine. The second time the machine wouldn't play correctly. We made sure the firmware was updated and the cables were good. Still not happy with the device but am stuck with it.

All I wanted was a way to watch my DVDs, BluRays, and future 4K discs that this advertised could play. It is a glorified USB reader as that is the only function that works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far, So Good! I purchased this blu-ray player after my 5 year old Samsung blu-ray player quit playing blu-ray DVDs. This unit was seamless and easy to setup and totally compatible with my LG 4K Smart TV. The quality of sound and picture when playing both blu-ray and standard DVDs are amazing. The unit is basically no frills as it does not have the smart feature for streaming apps such as Pandora, Amazon Prime or Netflix, but that is no problem for me as my smart TV has this capability. Over all, I am very pleased with the purchase of this unit and hoping it will last for years. The main reason for 4 stars as opposed to 5 is that the unit does not have a front display. Quite frankly this was a surprise and a bit of a disappointment, but something we will adapt to over time.

I have a lot dvd collection and I have not been disappointed with the purchase of this product. The versatility to play the most current video formats(4K/UHD) as well as backward compatible for older formats(Blue Ray & DVD)means you do not replace your older video library. Very happy I bought this product. Life is Good!

This is a superb 4K UHD player. Its picture quality is outstanding. And the upscaling is terrific. I guarantee you, you will not be sorry purchasing this player. It is not a streaming player, which is why I gave it three stars for feature. But since it is connected to a streaming TV, I didn't need the feature. And if you don't need streaming to NOT let that three star rating deter you! )I gave it five stars for value because I couldn't give it six!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality product. I had the device for a few weeks now, and it's worked great overall w/ very minor hiccups but that comes with most devices. If your okay with a simple player that plays 4k blurays, dvds, cds etc. this is perfect for you. I have two versions of this device one that only plays u.s. based blurays, and DVDs and another one that's been upgraded to play all regions. 4k blurays are all unlocked so you won't have to worry about that I will say to do your research before you purchase one the unlocked region free version I have was bought from Amazon. If you get it from a reputable seller they willl include the features in the description so just pay attention to that. I don't care for fancy UI, apps, or wireless internet so for me this is a great buy ( it does have a wired connection in the back though). If I wanted apps I'll fire up my roku or something. I would give it a solid 8 out of 10 if I had to rate it.

I bought an LG because I thought it would work with the phone app. It does not. The tiny remote control is an awkward design with numbers, that are seldom used, at the top and the selection rosette in the middle where you have to scrunch your thumb down to reach it. Fortunately, the player works with my universal remote. The LG remote is in the cabinet and forgotten.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice simple device that gets the job done I got this a few months ago to go with my new LG CX 4K HDR TV. I didn't need anything fancy - just playback 4k blu rays. I do my streaming through a separate streaming player, so the lack of streaming/WIFI features didn't bother me. Nothing much to say other than it gets the job done. Only complaint is that, at times, it prematurely closes the disc tray and my input switches back before I can grab the disc I want to play. However, it's a minor annoyance.

My 55" 4K LG TV already had all the apps I needed and I didn't need to use them on the Blu-Ray player. So I saved a ton of money with this 4K LG Blu-Ray player that didn't have those features. At first I thought it would just be bare bones, but it plays HDR, and 3D Blu-Rays. My favorite part though is the USB support. FLAC compatible for lossless audio output - UNPARALLELED! Mpeg4 video, MKV, XVID, Mp3, 3GP, AVCHD, FLV, MOV, backed up movie TS files! EVERYTHING! Bravo you guys! Keep setting the bar! Cheers!

Spent a total of about 2 hours with LG reps and finally was told we would have to send it in and instructions for doing so would be emailed to us. Received a couple emails but nothing with instructions. Returned second unit to Amazon and went to Best Buy and got one that did work (not an LG). So I would say skip past this one and look for another brand.

Their communication wasn't great but it was fixed, returned in a timely manner, in good working order. Will continue to stay brand loyal to LG. Washer/Dryer, Smartphone, BluRay player and probably a refrigerator in the near future.

This is not a streaming device nor is there any wi-fi. I already own a smart television so it seemed unnecessary to spend extra money on those things. It worked great for the few movies we watched and then didn't work at all. I contacted customer service and they did nothing except register the DVD player. It stopped working within 4 months of the warranty expiration.

I have been very happy with our 2019 LG 55" UHD TV, so when I saw LG had a 4K blu-ray player at a fabulous price at several retailers, I clicked buy. The controls are straight forward, the performance is impressive. I have 3 new 4k blu-rays that show super sharp, better than theater quality pictures. An added bonus is that my DVD's are definitely benefitting by the upscaling quality of the unit, i.e., my old regular DVD grade discs now look like a blu-ray in HD. The controls mesh well with my LG flat screen too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not worth the low price Bought it 2 years ago and only used it around 10 times. Today it had trouble reading a UHD Disc and as the movie began the system crashed. It no longer connects to the tv as the operating system doesn't load anymore. Now I cannot eject the disc that is stuck inside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast Load Times, No confusing frills We purchased this Blue Ray player to replace another brand that was frustrating us to tears with its slow load times and wasn't 4K. This is a basic frills 4K Blue Ray player with no frills or streaming apps. Does an incredible job of making even old DVD's look good and fill the screen. Set up was super easy and easily. Super fast load times. Pop a disc in and you are watching before you can sit down. Easily integrated with our new 65 inch OLED LG TV

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked fine until it didn't This DVD player worked flawlessly for the first year of ownership, then it died completely. Will not even power on. I had to disassemble it to access the DVD that I had left in there. The fuse appears to be intact. I was hoping for better longevity when I bought this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the product but cannot change aspect ratio Plays movies excellent but if I play a DVD where the ratio is originally 4:3 the settings on the player doesn't give me the option to change the ratio. It's there but does not let me select it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EASY PEASY!!! My old DVD player was beginning to fail, so as long as I was getting a new LG smart TV, it made sense to add in an LG Blu-Ray player. Again, its ratings were high, its compatibility with the TV perfect, so I went for it. Great price.

The hand controller is small and you practically have to be right in front of the player for it to work. I have a problem with it changing my receiver input from HDMI to Dig In whenever I put in a disc. Tech support is no help!!!!

Installation was very simple and I had it hooked up to the TV in less than five minutes. It has excellent image quality and the remote is extremely simple to operate. This player has met my expectations and I'm satisfied with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hoped for better I bought this knowing LG made great products as this was replacing another LG DVD player. From the beginning it made noises during use and after a few months, it just died. It would not power up at all. Since it was under warranty I sent it back, which was a bit of a hassle, and after a couple weeks, it was at my front door. I wasnt even aware it had been repaired and dropped off. I have not used it yet since I got ot back and hope the issue has been fixed.

We went to Best Buy and they had this unit as an open box. This unit required one cable and was super easy to connect. I have lots of DVD's and am super happy to have this new technology and the fact that it is a Blu ray player.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unit was defective. Would not power up. Cannot yet give a review based on actual usage. My only experience with the UBK80 is that it was not functional out of the box. It has been sent to LG Appliance Repair in Walnut, CA via Fed Ex -- finally received on Sept. 3, 2021.
