Does not work with windows 10 drivers
Not plug and play compatible with windows 10, windows driver is incorrect and LG does not provide a driver. This is basically a useless brick.

Doa dead still waiting for RMA

SATA interface
Bought this to upgrade to SATA interface. Old drive was IDE. Works great. Had to turn the cable around because one end is for the drive and the other is for the motherboard. Did not know this. The drive did not work until I fixed this.

DVD-RW won't write
I bought this DVD-RW to replace one that quit working. I plugged it into the same MB slot and powered it up, and it will only show up as DVD RAM. Nothing I do will make this drive an RW drive. There are no updates for it - I have the most recent driver. So frustrating!

This series should be discontinued
I bought this DVD reader about 5 years ago, and it's performance has been moderate. It successfully burns discs around 75-80% of the time.
But -- I tried putting in my old LOTR Extended Version DVD in today, and it was no-go. I was astonished, and tried different video players, then tried on different machines, and the other machines worked. I did some searching, and an awful lot of people with LG DVD drives cannot watch LOTR and some other discs due to bad firmware.
I will seriously reconsider ever buying another LG DVD drive because of this.

An absolutely PERFECT DVD/CD Read/Write drive!
Excellent top-of-the-line DVD/CD reader/burner. I own 2 of these drives, and they've both performed flawlessly for years. One is 10+ years old, and I've used well over 1000 CD and DVD discs with it. This LG drive is compatible with every piece of readable and writable media that I've tried (I recommend Verbatim AZO media). This drive works well with every program/app that I've tried on it, including various CD and DVD programs. It has worked with Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11 - as well as various versions of Linux. I have not used the M-DISC functionality, but I expect it would work fine. PERFECTION is the best word to describe this drive.

This is the same make of drive I have in a >20 year old system that is in my vintage collection. An IDE HLDS LG drive. It works perfectly still, as does the new component, what a value!

Burns well, caught FIRE on first use!
Bought the drive in advance of building a PC for a client, got to the point of starting up the system to boot from a DVD to install Windows, and there was no boot, and a burnt smell. Shut it down fast, used manual eject to remove the disk, confirmed the burnt smell was from the drive. Switched to another drive (not LG), finished the build with no issues.
Called LG support (ticket number available on request outside the review), was told I could ship it in for repair. No, I need a call tag, it's a fire hazard. Was told they would escalate the case and contact me. They didn't. I called back in after not hearing back, was told I would hear back. Still nothing. It's still sitting here.
So this one lasted until it was turned on for the first time.
I know the ticket was entered, because LG ASKED ME TO REVIEW THE PRODUCT based on the ticket in the warranty system.

It is not working properly with win 10. Does not recognize DVDs at all. CDs are readable. Useless thing

I liked it but it have compatibility issues
Purchase it when was need to burn big files worked well, few years ago when i was need to use my very old CDrom I found out it not reading old cdroms at all, ancient cd reader that i found in garbage was reading them perfect

Inaccurate specifications
I asked specifically on this site what the depth of this drive was, and LG said 153mm. Actual depth is 170mm, thus it is incompatible with my case. How hard is it to measure your own product and provide accurate specs?
