Beautiful screen. Mac support only so-so.
The screen is beautiful. Running it over USB-C I can fit just tons and tons of information on it. I've had this for a couple years, for the most part it is really nice. It's my primary monitor for work, and is connected currently to a MacBook Pro M3 Max over USB-C. For the most part I'm pretty satisfied.
Only real issue I've had is the frequently reported problem with Macs where the screen will blank out. It doesn't do it all the time, but it does do it somewhat frequently. (It blanked out while I was writing this review...). It will go black (but with the backlight still on) for about 5-10 seconds at a time. Does this maybe 3-4 times a day. So it's not the end of the world. 30-40 seconds of blackout per day, maybe up to a minute. But when you have a $1300+ monitor doing this, with no recourse, no help, it's pretty frustrating.
I have tried 3 different laptops with this, multiple USB-C cables and gotten the same result. The best result I've had is with the latest USB-C cable which is extremely high speed. That takes the blackout down to about 5 seconds. Previously it was 15-20 seconds. Connecting the monitor another way (HDMI, DP) isn't really an option - the resolution I want can't be achieved with those methods.
LG support is absolutely no help with this. Not only do they not know the features and components of this monitor, they have no understanding of how the underlying video tech works, don't listen to what you're saying, just all around poor support experience. There's no path to getting someone with more knowledge.
Example: LG: "do X on your monitor." Me: "My monitor doesn't have that setting;" "You have to do this." "But my monitor doesn't have that." "I don't know what to tell you."
Example 2: Me: "My monitor blanks out for a 5-10 seconds occasionally but the backlight stays on." LG: "Is the power on?" Me: "the backlight requires power, and is still on when it blanks out." LG: "your outlet is bad"
There are never any updates. The LG OSD app is the only way to provide updates. The crazy thing is, it will indicate there's a firmware update, but then say "you're up to date". Once again, LG support is no help.
Me: "What firmware version should my monitor be running?"
LG: "The OSD app knows this"
Me: "Can't you tell me the version"
LG: "It's only in the app"
Me: "Ok - here are the three version numbers the app reports. Are these current?"
LG: "I don't know"
This information cannot be found on the LG website or anywhere else.
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. The LG support organization is not known for being good and they don't care that's what people think either. I think the individual techs I have talked to want to be able to provide an answer, but they aren't well-trained and don't have the tools to provide help. Would be a frustrating job, honestly.
Bottom line: Monitor is beautiful. Support is terrible. If you can live with the frustration (and I have for 2 years) then jump in. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

Excellent buy
Bought this as my daughter works from home and this is so beneficial. Easy to set up multiple windows and pic in pic and multiple computers can be hooked up at same time. Best monitor I ever bought.

Great monitor if it didn't flicker
It's a great monitor when it's working properly.
I have the same problem as reported on here as well as poor LG support experience. It's really frustrating since I paid a lot of money for this monitor.
I too am experiencing the monitor randomly flickering when connected via USB-C, it used to be flickering when any of the supplied cables were used. Now I have to use the HDMI cable that was supplied with the monitor and a HDMI to USB-C adapter for it to work.
When I called LG, they did not know what to do and gave me solutions that were listed on their screen. I called LG right before my warranty was up and they told me to ship back in the original box, well I don't have that box anymore! And now now it's out of warranty with LG, luckily I've bought extended warranty through ABT but they cannot resolve the issue either. So what can I do now?
I've used the USB-C cable on three different computers and it flickered with each one! I've also updated the monitor software as well as changed the default settings on the monitor. I searched the LG site for a "LG certified USB-C cable" and I was unsuccessful with that too.
FYI - this issue started on the first day I took it out of the box and I lived with it for a while until I grew frustrated.

Rich Bass?
Great monitor. I am sure they were lol'ing when they said that it had rich bass. Not expecting much from onboard speakers, but saying that they have rich bass is a very far stretch. Sounds like music from a tin can to be honest. Other than that, the monitor performs well. Does randomly flash from time to time.

Pretty Awesome, But Some Shortfalls
Overall, this monitor is pretty amazing. All of the typical image quality features are solid: brightness, contrast, saturation, color matching, etc. It works great for creative purposes, like photo and video editing. However, given the price, I can’t give a five-star review with some of the shortcomings. On several of my Mac computers, it randomly blacks out for a couple seconds every couple of hours. I’ve tried numerous cables and multiple Macs of varying chip architecture (e.g. Intel, M1, M2, etc), so it seems likely related to something with the monitor. Also, there are infrequent times where I have to power cycle because the control button in the back will stop being responsive. (Bear in mind that I’m using it with a two computer setup, so I change input sources multiple times a day. Maybe it’s too much for the unit to handle?) Also, it seems a bit sketchy with how well it responds to monitor control over DDC/CI protocol. I couldn’t get the native LG software to work, but use third party ones with pretty good luck! Lastly, I highly leverage it’s use as a KVM of sorts. I have USBs and audio connected that all feed from a Thunderbolt connected device. At times, audio stops passing through until I do a power cycle.

Unparalleled
Easy to setup - just plug n play on both Mac & Windows with USB-C and HDMI. Resolution is extremely good a the screen real estate saves so much time in multi-tasking.

Fabulous
Huge beautiful display.
Joystick nicer than buttons but would be better on bottom
Vs back
Some quirks with usb hub, display power savings
Replaced two 27” flat displays, though I still use one in portrait mode and occasionally the other. I use for work- many documents ant one time. open at one time. Sometimes

Motherboard issues
I bought LG 49WL95C-WE 49 INCH 32:9 ULTRAWIDE DUAL QHD IPS CURVED LED MONITOR WITH HDR10 and had to send it in for warranty repair because the KVM would not work as it was advertised. Still do not have it back.

Mac users requiring USB-C should stay away
3bert's review is 100% correct. The monitor is not reliable when connected to a Mac over USB-C. This is extremely disappointing as its one of the few monitors in its class that specifically lists Mac compatibility w/ USB-C Power Delivery. LG support is absolutely terrible. They have no ability to escalate you to a higher tier of support or even understand the issue being reported right here on their website. What a waste of time and money.

Big & beautiful monitor!
Happy with this overall. The curve took a little getting used to, but it’s great having one large screen rather than three monitors!

Avoid this monitor at all cost/terrible support
Avoid this monitor at all costs. This monitor started to have dead pixels problem after months of use. After spending nearly two weeks convincing LG US support that the monitor is indeed covered under warranty, they now won't swap due to insufficient inventory. LG support now wants it to be shipped to them for repairs. This is the worst customer service for business-grade hardware I've seen.

A beautiful panel marred by operational failures.
Product consistently and randomly shuts itself off during use, multiple times a day, without warning, and has done so since date of purchase. This happens regardless of the computer to which it is connected (all of which are capable of driving the full resolution of the display), regardless of the type of cable used, and regardless of the port to which it is connected to said computer (but happens most frequently while using the DisplayPort protocol over the USB-C port). When video and audio cut out, it happens between 1 and 5 seconds each time. Only video and audio are interrupted. Typing and mouse movements continue “in the background.” This is completely unacceptable and traumatizing to someone who only bought this display explicitly because of display video issues in a previous display.
The product is otherwise as fantastic as I’ve come to expect LG products to be. The panel itself is beautiful, of high quality, and has the color accuracy I expected. It’s the only thing that keeps me using it in the face of this nightmare. The overall design is fine and the bezels are nice and small. The speakers are “good enough for being display speakers.” Not the best I’ve heard built into a display, but nowhere near the worst, either.
I simply cannot recommend this product–or by extension, any other LG computer monitors–due to the physical defect in video/audio output AND due to LG’s criminally incompetent support staff who have simply disconnected my conversations entirely every time I have attempted to receive support for this product failure. My warranty has recently expired simply because I was too afraid to contact them again when I knew they’d just redirect me to the “wrong” department or disconnect the conversation–IT JUST DID IT AGAIN–without resolving it. If future models have solved this vid/aud interruption problem, I would wholeheartedly recommend this display panel, its size, and its resolution. As it stands…

Great work monitor replacing the 3 monitors I used
This monitor is a great monitor for working purposes. It replaced the 3 monitors I was using before and works great for my needs. The only things I noticed: it is a bit wobbly when the table it sits on is not perfectly stable. The internal sound is not good for music or such

Terrible product
LG is knowingly selling this product with comparability issues with both Mac and 40 series nvidia cards but will refuse to replace because of a scratch that happened during transit of the unit. When the only reason the unit needed to be transported because of the connection issues. Screen still works but will not replace or fix anything if this is the case. I find this completely unreasonable and are looking to steal your money on at $1300 monitor. Customer service is also slow to respond and unwilling to work with.
