Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable Workstation Lenovo outlet allowed me to replace my decade old dual Xeon workstation at a great price. The AMD 5955WX provides plenty of cores for my current needs while the platform will allow for growth up to 64C/128T; hard to imagine needing that now but it means I can upgrade instead of replace when the time comes. The RTX A2000 is a definite performance boost over my old GTX 750 Ti. The P620’s power supply will ensure I can also upgrade the GPU when the time comes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from P620 Workstation It was a relatively straightforward process to configure and purchase the computer. It is well put together. I like the quality of the product. It is a great computer. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Windows 11 Pro; they cannot simply get it to work without crashing so very often. Mac OS is plagued with the same problems; so glitchy. I might consider switching to Linux or FreeBSD. Superior hardware, lousy OS. Thats how I think of my workstation.

Additionally, I would have liked to have had more installation help from Lenovo since I had never before gone to a server type process. All in all a good product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mostly Good Good first impressions, performance is as expected (not on the high or low side of benchmarks for the same components. -Bloatware was mostly microsoft apps including office apps that I had to uninstall and reinstall the workplace's preferred versions -Lenovo Vantage app i'm undecided on (first time I ran it I updated bios - it says bios updated but still says I need to update bios - bios version successfully installed matches bios version to be installed). -Also not a fan of the price markups, which every workstation builder does but is inherently misleading as retail for nearly all components are far below lenovo's 'price'. -Happy that I was able to get a workstation with PCIe 4.0 (for storage m.2 and GPU) -I am a fan of having a 5yr warranty at a reasonable price and not needing to build the system personally. - Lastly Lenovo had the best price among those that offered threadripper pro and Nvidia RTX professional gpus at time of purchase (Dell and HP were not offering any similar options).

Very pleased with the purchase, Just make sure to connect the external wifi antenna located in the separate box with the mouse or the wifi will be extremely slow. This step should be included in the startup documentation. Excellent post sale customer support with the premium support included in the purchase price - as I found out by initially failing to connect the external wifi antenna that was in the box with the included basic wired (throw away) mouse included with the purchase.

So I started looking into the ThinkStation P620 Tower Workstation. This unit is delivering everything I was expecting. I paired it with a hi-Rez monitor and absolutely love it. The speed is like nothing I have ever had. I have always purchased computers with intel chips and were great, but I am sold on this AMD Ryzen chip set. I would highly suggest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unhappy and disappointed customer I ordered a ThinkStation P620 in order to do engineering/CAD as part of my job as a consultant. When I received the machine, I powered it up and attempted to complete the initial setup, and so forth During the setup procedure, the PC would repeatedly power off and restart (Black Screen). I entered a service request, and a technician came to my house and replaced the system board. Afterward, the PC would not complete POST and would remain in a non-functional state. I have requested a full replacement. To date (4 days) ago the shipping status has not been updated (although I was told on the phone it would arrive this coming Wednesday. I am very discouraged with having been sold an expensive non-functional PC. If any sort of pre-ship burn-in (or simple power-on test) had been performed the failure would have been caught and I would not have lost over a week of billable time (easily more than the cost of the machine), had to explain to my clients my I can't complete their work, and so forth. It has cost me time, money, and reputation. I am hoping I will receive what I paid for this coming Wednesday. It would go a long way if 1. Lenovo would commit to a delivery time, 2. make some compensation for their mistake, for example, upgrading the memory, or processor.

My love of Lenovo started where I worked around 2000 when the company I worked for started using Lenovo for all our work computers. Every four years I would get a "refresh", a new computer. I went through at least three lower-end Lenovo corporate work computers over 12 years. Never had a single problem with any of them. Then, at home, my first Lenovo desktop (2017) was a Y900 desktop. Never had a single problem with it over seven years. Then purchased a Lenovo laptop in 2017, also no problems. Then it was time to upgrade to a new desktop computer. The P620 was a perfect upgrade for me. My P620 was on "clearance" for $2,009 with 32GB ram and 1TB SSD drive. Part of the lower price was the low-end Threadripper processor (5945WX) twelve cores. The price of those Threadrippers seems to increase exponentially with more cores. So far, my luck is holding up, no issues during the first three weeks. I've added 32GB of memory, and three PCIe cards. An ASUS Blu-ray drive sits on top. Everything is being powered by an APC power supply. Attached extra storage drives are a Crucial X8 (4TB) SSD, and an older WD My Book spinning 4TB drive. I'm surprised at how quiet the fans are. I can't hear them at all, unless I'm doing something processor intensive. Even then, the fans have a loud rushing sound that sounds like they are using quality fans. Finally, I'm aware this model is a couple of years old. Doesn't bother me at all, I would rather have a proven model with all the bugs worked out.

It has exceeded all my expectations and them some. The Lenovo built quality is first class. The CPU air cooled has never run above 55c . The Lenovo P620 is a great built and super fast.

Pairing an AMD Threadripper with an RTX-A6000 did NOT disappoint. It completed generating and caching a 24 Gb VDB file for a fluid simulation in slightly under 3 minutes: so it was writing 133Mb per second to the cache file. Mind blowing! Rendering global illumination scenes with Redshift was also a joy. When everything is going to the GPU, this is the combination to get for those who hate to wait.

Also, I clicked the wireless LAN and bluetooth adaptors, because I knew I needed those and it came with neither (they didn't show up on the final order form either. So with having to order additional parts, it took a couple of weeks to actually get set up and running. Once that frustration was out of the way, however, everything has been running smoothly. I've done a fair bit of graphic design work with no complaints, but haven't tried any video editing yet. Those are the main two purposes for switching from a laptop to a PC for me.

The build quality seems very good and I like the ability to easily upgrade components. So far I have used the PC to edit video and plan to use it to run AutoCAD and SolidWorks. I did use Lenovo support to help me purchase the Workstation and they were very helpful.

Could have gone with a little quieter fans like in the dell workstations but no complaints. The only downsides is it could have used a better wifi chip (something providing wifi 6,160mhz) as well, it would have been nice if the wifi card had a spot on the motherboard instead of taking up a pci slot. Similarly, the red pci retention clips seem to be preventing me from installing an extra long graphics card, but it also looks like they can be removed if I remove the motherboard, so it’s a solvable problem. With those three minor problems solved I’d give this machine a 5/5

Workstation was however not delivered with the software purchased. It took 5 calls to Lenovo support over 3 weeks to finally acquire the purchased software. Given this is a high cost business machine, such a delay and poor support is unacceptable and I was never offered an explanation or apology. Considering I paid for 5 years premium service, this experience has left me disappointed in Lenovo. I hope the workstation performance will redeem some confidence in Lenovo.
