Rated 5 out of 5 by from X1 & Thunderbolt 3 dock - Easy integrationX1 Carbon Extreme Gen1 - this is my second X1 - the difference more than 5-years makes in technology and ease of installation is really noticeable; I purchased the Thuderbolt 3 Workstation Dock. Fired up the X1 with pre-loaded MS Office 365 (full version) - it was all there but for some reason OneNote wouldn't sync easily with my MS account, everything else synced perfectly; went through the usual set up and personalization, which does take a lot of time (I have a MS account) but it wasn't difficult and the prompts were good and easy to follow (good job MS) & good job Lenovo for the initial X1 set up out the box.Once all that was done- connected the dock to all my devices - it only took about 1-minute for the X1 to recognize all my peripherals and load drivers etc. that was it, everything functioned the way it should. Now I can get back to work as a consultant - in Biotech - owning my own small consulting company (no IT service to come to the rescue) down time comes at a premium, back to work quickly - Phew!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ThinkPad X1 Extreme Rocks!!I have been a die hard ThinkPad fan since 2000 when I was using the ThinkPad 380Z. So it came to no surprise that the ThinkPad X1 Extreme would be such a quick and light weight piece of equipment. ThinkPad has come a long way since 2000 as always for the better. The highlights ThinkPad X1 Extreme are quick bootup, easy to connect via WIFI and the 4K screen is Amazing for video let alone the 1 TB SSD that makes this the best laptop for the money. There is 2 other companies that make claims but will never reach the level of excellence the ThinkPad X1 Extreme has

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The screen is amazing and keyboard is heavenI was not sure that my X1 would replace my go to MacBook Pro but I have to say, it is better in every way. I literally smile every time I open the lid and see the screen. I also find myself being more productive and replying to more emails due to the keyboard which is a joy to type on. I am very happy with my recent purchase and would highly recommend the x1 to any working professional that needs more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Business LaptopI bought two of these laptops, one for my brother about two months ago andone for me about a month ago and I am very happy with it. I always use Lenovo as they are reliable. I use it for business and it is fast, has plenty of memory and works great with QuickBooks, office and autocad software. I would like to have numeric pad with it, but I purchased one for the side wich solved the problems. As well, only 2 USB inputs, if more is needed you will have to use USB Hub which I am using. After years of having a great (2015) MBP I could no deal with all of the issues if the new one and went to find something better. What I found was a thin and light laptop that had a great video card, excellent CPU, and 64g of RAM. You can’t beat this laptop for power + portability. And, the build quality is amazing. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy to have our new Lenovo.Very happy with our new laptop. I am a little disappointed that it only has 2 usb spots, so I had to purchase additional ones to plug into one of the ports. I thought I had read in the description prior to purchasing that there were 4 usb spots. With all the other ports available I guess we will be ready for whatever comes our way that needs to be plugged in. I am not a computer tech so I am still figuring things out. But happy so far! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great LaptopI bought a Thinkpad X1 Extreme to replace my 2015 MacBook Pro. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase. Here are the pros:* Great display (way better than Retina)* The keyboard is SO nice. I really enjoy using it.* Crazy amount of memory and SSD story* Much faster SSD* The Thinkpad is engineered considerably better than the Macbook Pro. * This machine is seriously light. I honestly thought that the Macbook Pro was the cream of the crop when it came to weight. I was seriously wrong. This Thinkpad is seriously light and is plenty thin.* The Thinkpad X1 Extreme was considerably cheaper than the equivalent Macbook Pro. ($2350 vs $3700)And here are the cons:* Sound through the speakers is not as good as the Macbook. It's rare when I'm using the sound without headphones, but it is still a con.* I haven't used Windows since 2007, so that was a bit of a learning curve, but Windows is much better than when I last used it.* The trackpad isn't quite as good as the Macbook Pro, but it's not substantially worse. Just a bit.Overall, I'm very happy with the machine. I wish the speakers were a bit better. I would rate the laptop a 4.5 out of 5. Better speakers would make it a solid 5. Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Laptop for the Incoming Freshman!I found myself deciding between the X1 Extreme and the Dell XPS 15 as I was getting ready for college. As you would have guessed, I chose the former, and I haven't regretted it since the day it arrived on my doorstep. This laptop is an absolute pleasure to type on and navigate with its TrackPoint. Before and after undervolting, it runs lukewarm surfing the web or typing away at an essay. It handles multitasking without breaking a sweat, and its large battery kept me working independently from a cumbersome charging brick or a power bank. For those into graphics or gaming, the 1050 Ti in this laptop should be suitable for light programs. The only thing I don't like about this laptop was the proprietary ethernet solution. I did not understand why Lenovo chose such a solution rather than the folding ethernet ports that its competitors use. That aside, I think this laptop covers all the bases I needed to prepare myself for college, and I would strongly recommend this laptop to others in need of a similar solution! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing screen; no weightThe computer was a great performer, and I loved the UHD screen and IR camera (no password needed--just my face), and it was super light weight which I need for travel. Unfortunately, on the original the graphics card was defective so within a couple of weeks I had to return it--the replacement is scheduled to arrive in a couple of days. However, having used Lenovos for years, I know this is an anomaly. Annoying, but life. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost greatAs a 20+ year Mac person who has finally accepted that Apple is bound and determined to price me out of their ecosystem, I decided last spring that it was time to switch. I spent several months doing my research and the X1E consistently won out. (The Dell XPS 15 was the runner up.) I’ve had the unit for about a month now and run it, without significant issues, as a dual-boot Win/Linux machine. Pros: Excellent keyboard, screen, build quality, port selection, expandability/serviceability (although, Lenovo tightened down the second m.2 support screw so much that I almost stripped it getting it out—a problem others are reporting too), and all-round performance;Cons: the speakers should have been located on the top (not the bottom) of the chaise, the fans run often and a bit loud (it can get fairly hot), and the issues related to switching from discrete to hybrid graphics should have been address before it was shipped. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Faster and LighterI had a T1 for years. I added at 1T solid state drive and used it until I wore out the keys. I am a landscape designer and I started using Sketchup a lot. It was painfully slow so I finally broke down and got the X1 with the accelerated graphics card. It is so much faster and lighter. I am very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great "Move Up" machineI had a top of the line configuration of the ThinkPad W540 working perfectly but just out of its 5 year warranty. Time to update to a fully loaded ThinkPad X1 Extreme. I don't miss the right side number pad - I rarely used it and having the keyboard "centered" helps. Size and weight are great. I need way more than the two USB ports on my desk so I'd need a hub anyway. Two are fine for on the road. A little strange to have to buy an adapter to connect to cat5 wired network. No big deal but it adds to carry and clutter. High end screen is super excellent. I use it for Photoshop. At home with their new 27 inch monitor on my desk I don't even use the magnificent onboard screen. My biggest disappointment is not with the ThinkPad, it is with their new 27 inch monitor. Screen quality is super. I assumed there would be some kind of sound output but it doesn't have it. When I connected the monitor the sound stopped working on the laptop. Tech support had me change the driver which made the ThinkPad sound work but not with its inherent high quality sound. The net is that to connect to the otherwise great monitor I had to sacrifice sound quality on the laptop. All in all I'd buy the ThinkPad again but would think again about the monitor (but might still buy it for its screen quality).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beast of a machine! Glad I chose the X1 Extreme.Replaced my 4 year old laptop, and I'm very impressed with the X1 Extreme. I purchased the 1920 x 1080 FHD screen model with the 720HD camera with Thinkshutter. This laptop is fast, very sturdy and easily upgradeable in both memory and storage--just a few screws away from adding another SSD or more RAM. Powerful enough to run CAD software and play games at a decent framerate with the GTX 1050 TI. Lighter than I expected for being such a powerful laptop, and the fan noise isn't too bad. If I had to complain about something, it would be that the matte finish leaves fingerprints everywhere! Also, the speakers are okay and nothing special, as expected with most laptops. I was spoiled by having a subwoofer in my old laptop though. Hands down, the X1 Extreme is exactly what I was looking for in a replacement! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid machine with known defectsThe X1 Extreme has proven to be more than powerful enough for my needs. As noted by others, the fans are load and the keyboard surround shows finger prints. The system paired easily with a Lenovo Smart Pen, which has made grading easier. The UHD panel is stunning. There was some bloatware, but nearly as much as my previous Lenovo W530. Overall, I am happy with the purchase. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's really nice!!I am studying Web and App development so I wanted a laptop that was both powerful and had ample ports to plug in all my peripherals. After using this laptop for about a few days I am quite impressed. I am coming from a Late 2013 Macbook Pro and right away I noticed the track pad has been amazing. It is a delight to work on. The mouse travels really far with only one stroke. The nub is nice as well but I don't foresee myself using it much. With my current workload I have been using about 8 gigs of memory, half of the 16 I ordered it with. My Macbook only had 8 gigs so my system was getting really slow. That included 4 or 5 tabs on chrome open, Microsoft excel, outlook, a texting app, I also run classic shell instead of the default start menu. I also use it as a desktop with dual monitor setup. I use the HDMI port and a mini display port to thunderbolt 3 adapter for my 4K display. The connections between the monitors and the laptop have been solid. I only gave it 4 stars because the OS was really wonky out of the box. I uninstalled all the pre-loaded apps from windows and then after that was done I restarted my computer a little later and they all came back. Not wanting to go through the uninstall process again I just did a clean install of Windows 10 and it has been working smoothly ever since. The brightness is okay. I ordered the 1080P version. It is a beautiful display but the brightness could be a little better. I mostly use it at home though. I used it on the train today and I had no bad glare. The summer months may change that. My configuration included a Core I7 8750H CPU, 16GB of ram, 256GB NVME SSD. I added my own second SSD after I bought it. I wish I could comment on the graphics card but I haven't done anything graphic intensive enough to use the NVIDIA graphics yet but the reviews I have read have mostly been positive. I will be using Adobe CC a lot in the future so I wanted graphics powerful to handle it as well as be able to play a game here and there. Overall if you are looking for a good workhouse laptop then this is an excellent choice and in my opinion its way better than the current Macbook, especially when you add a 4K display. This has all the ports you will ever need, unlike the Macbook.

I fully expected a three week turn around so imagine my delight when the laptop was sent, repaired and returned in four days. Incredible customer service. Five stars!! It works beyond my expectations. I run dual monitors, two printers and a scanner with no problens. That was not the case with my previous desktop from a well known manufacturer. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OMG THE BEST!I have been using thinkpads exclusively since the late 90s (600E, X41t, Thinkpad Yoga, X1 Carbon). Thinkpads have always been a premium brand in my book, but the X1 Extreme is on another level entirely. Beautiful screen (the brightness is truly spectacular), super fast processor, great wifi, oh and trackpoint works perfectly out-of-the-box for once. Plays games like Rocket League with no problems at all. Just really really happy about this purchase. I was debating between this and the Blade 15. I went with Thinkpad sort of out of brand loyalty, but also because of the reports about the Blade 15 getting really hot. I figured Lenovo would have a professional cooling solution figured out ... and boy they did. The laptop gets warm of course playing games, but never hot. Normal work day you cannot even tell if the fans are even on. Love this laptop, highly recommended! The hybrid USB-C docking station on the other hand is terrible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great laptop - needs some tweaking for linuxThe build quality is great! I buy Lenovo specially for the keyboard. This one meets the same level of expectations. Touchpad is much better than my previous 2014 X1-carbon. There is only one little trouble: linux is not fully supported straight out of box. It needs some tweaking. However I am positive that we will see updates from the community to fix some minor issues. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy this if need of portable desktopI absolute love this laptop. It's preformance is very high for being this thin. The 6-core i7 with the 1050ti is a great combo and is even faster with the ssd storage. I never get used to how light it is when im badsocally holding a desktop. The quality of build is top of the line with the material feeling really nice and not just metal. Expect this to last a long time. What makes it even better for travel is the fast charging with the charging brick REALLY small compared to others. The only laptop i would get other than this is the Lenovo P1 if you need that quadro graphics card.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Upgrade-able SSD and MemoryHaving been using 5+ Mac for almost nine years and finally switched back to PC, partially because windows started to support subsystem. One of the other reason would be price. Mac is not upgradeable at all nowadays, and the price is ridiculously high. The Lenovo X1 extreme, on the other hands, has two memory slot and two SSD slots. Huge applause to Lenovo for this. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thin and light with excellent qualities! This laptop is pretty much all I wanted with a 15" device. It has lots of power, storage and battery life. I got a 1080p screen for the battery life and shutter for the web camera. Battery life is really good for a 6 core i7 processor and GTX 1050ti Max Q graphics. I get about 6-8 hours and Windows reports about 11 hours remaining frequently but I haven't really measured it to confirm. I feel like 6-8 is more accurate and I have streamed 4 hours worth of online video before it prompted me that it was at 20% remaining. I do appreciate the easy access to memory and storage and have already added an M.2 drive to supplement the stock drive. I did buy this device for its inputs, performance and upgradeable design; I can say that it excels at all that I have demanded of it. Overall, I recommend this sleek machine if you want to have some decent CPU power, maybe dabble in some light gaming and if you want to add more storage or RAM at a future date. The keyboard is fantastic, touchpad is great, and the display is sharp for a 1080p display (Keep in mind that at 15" 1080p is roughly equivalent to a 27" 4K monitor in pixel density and easier to run for battery life). Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid laptop, but no speed king.Having used this laptop for just over a month, I can say that it has worked flawlessly. It is solidly built, and the keyboard keys have a nice solid feel to them. I find the display not as good as a prior laptop I had with the same screen resolution. That may be partially due to the different screen size. The prior one was 13.3", this one is 15.6". Had I known that at the time, I would have gone with the 4k display. It also seems that this laptop is not as fast as my previous one, which is a great disappointment. This one boots-up slower, wakes up slower, and is just slower opening apps and everything else. It not a huge difference, but it is noticeable. My previous laptop had a 6th gen i7 processor and 8GB of DDR3-2400 ram. This 8th gen, 45-watt cpu, with 16GB of DDR4-2660 ram is just slower. Very disappointed. I also don't like the placement of the left Function key on the keyboard. It's right where the control key normally is. And I am constantly hitting instead of the control key. It does have a nice collection of interfaces. 2-USB A, 2-USB C with Thunderbolt, an SD card reader, and an HDMI port. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Performs Great As-Advertised!Thinkpad X1 Extreme is all that the description says it is. It's a great work laptop that's thin and light and yet can be made powerful enough to multi-task and run lots of apps. I haven't attempted to play video games on it but with a graphics card included that's better than most laptops, I project that gaming will at least be decent, depending on the type of game. I'm pleased with the 15" screen which is larger than the other Thinkpads, e.g. T series, and well worth it in my mind to get the additional screen real estate. The privacy cover for the camera and fingerprint reader are nice, convenient security features and make my laptop look much better w/o the yellow post-it covering the camera. Overall, I am pleased with this machine and eager to put it thru more paces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Proper Laptop for School workI've used this laptop for a few weeks now. Le me tell you this is the perfect laptop for online class; school work. I was in the market for a new laptop since im back in school. I had an old alienware m11x from 2008 (which was basically a web browser, reallly). The upgrade form an old laptop to this beauty has be tremendous. The 4k display is amazing, an dthe fact tha tyou can take notes right out of the touchscreen is even better. The things i would go against this laptop, but really dont matter to me are: -Battery life, battery life just lasts like 5 hrs tops... -Nvidia vidcard, sure it comes w/ a video card but its not powerful at all. I tried playing csgo w/ medium settings only to get like 20fps avg. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits the billI gave the ThinkPad X1 Extreme 5 stars because, after 3 weeks of use, I have no reason to deduct a star. It's a very solidly made laptop with an outstanding keyboard. If I could change anything it'd be to add more memory and upgrade to Win 10 Pro (which I can still do). Otherwise it performs as advertised. I can always use more ports but that's what docking stations are for. I bought it to process and edit raw photo files because they're very large and a photo shoot can easily produce thousands. I also needed something fairly durable to take with me on travels. So far it hasn't disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A proper desktop replacementGreat laptop which is a complete desktop replacement. I'm a casual gamer and previously used a custom Dan case Mini ITX form factor with Ryzen 2700 and RX 580. I ultimately decided to replace it with this X1 Extreme because of the perfect combination of power in a capable and lightweight form factor. I opted for the 1080p screen because of the 3.7 lbs of weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I make pretty science pictures.I work in neuroscience research and use the laptop primarily for processing high resolution, large image files taken from fancy microscopes. I have one of the higher end processor and vcard options. The laptop is fast and reliable for the task. It is a recent purchase so no information regarding longevity, obviously, but I'm extremely happy with it. The tiniest complaint is that if I'm running high processing demand programs for a long time it tends to get pretty hot, but that can be dealt with with a laptop fan or something pretty easily. The laptop also feels much lighter than I expected it to, which is a pleasant surprise. Overall very happy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best LaptopI've had this laptop for 3 weeks now and I am impressed by the performance it gives. Whether I am video editing, 3D modelling, gaming, or watching 4K movies, this device will handle it all. This laptop does live up to its name. It is also lighter than my old Flex 3 1470, which is impressive considering that this laptop is 15.6 inches. PROS:The microphone has pretty good sound quality, but I think the camera quality can be a little better, considering how phone cameras are nowadays. The keyboard is amazing as always. The laptop didn't come with any unnecessary bloatware. Instead It came with Lenovo Vantage which is a very useful tool for managing driver and BIOS updates, battery maintenance, USB power settings, audio settings, visual settings, sensor settings, and more. The Fn and Ctrl keys are oppositely located like most ThinkPads, but they can be swapped in Lenovo Vantage The laptop feels very durable, lightweight, and quiet, but it does get uncomfortably hot on the lap sometimes during intensive loads. Undervolting the CPU by -150mV dramatically fixed these temperatures though (I saw a 20 degree Celsius drop). The laptop is also very easy to upgrade since there is an extra empty RAM slot and an extra PCIe slot for an SSD. The GTX 1050TI Max-Q compliments the i7-8750H very well and performs outstandingly even in a thin and light laptop like this. The battery did last up to 15 hours but only during light loads. On heavier loads, it is around 7 hours, but it charges very fast.CONS:Some of the things I don't like though is the placement of the printscreen button. It is placed between the Alt and Ctrl buttons where the context menu is usually placed. I also miss the context menu button a lot, but I am getting used to using shift+F10 instead. I also was not happy that I have to buy a dongle for the ethernet port.Overall, this is a well-built workhorse laptop. Everything about it just seems professional, high quality, and well engineered. I would consider it to be reasonably priced for this quality of a laptop. I got mine for around $2600 CAD for the 20MF000BUS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great computerGreat overall computer, easy to customize and quick. The only issue i've has with it is that it runs loud at random points. Overall, I don't mind this so I don't think it effects the quality of the computer. I use the computer for video editing with premiere, and although it doesn't run perfectly 'smooth' while editing, it runs faster than macs that I've used (after reallocating ram). Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome LaptopExcellent ThinkPad quality I have come to know over the years. Very light and good battery life. This is my daily driver for work and home. Quality is very good and the keyboard is very nice. I gave up a touchbar macbook pro for this and very glad I did. I never booted into windows with the machine. I reloaded it right away and put Linux on it. Battery life is good. I leave the Nvidia card disable most the time as I do not really need it. When I do have the Nvidia GPU enable the computer is still pretty silent. Battery life is decreased but that is to be expected. I would buy it again in heart beat. My last ThinkPad was a T420 and I loved that machine. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best laptop I've ever ownI've owned many laptops over the years, mostly Apple Macs, and this by far is the best designed laptop. Upgrade-ability. Easy access to the ram, storage, and battery means that I can easily extend the life of the laptop by increasing ram/storage or replace the battery.Battery life, solid, I can easily get all day out of it and then some. The 4k display is gorgeous, the screen while not a 2-in-1 extends flat and being touchscreen is a plus, though I don't use the touchscreen personally. The keyboard is by far the best. Compared to the poorly designed butterfly keyboard from apple which is so prone to failure that they instituted a repair program, its night in day using the Thinpad's. Trackpad, good, not great, but Its manageable,Port selection, wide and varied and very helpful. No longer do I need a dongle for my SD card and mouse.Speakers, this is one area that the ThinkPad could use some improvement. the downward facing speakers just don't perform as well as other laptops. I'd rather have speakers face up.Performance. Great, while I don't game much,I find the X1 ExtremeThermals, very good, with some basic tweaking, I see temps in the 50 to 60c when pushing the laptop, even game playing doesn't cause any throttling. I'm not a gamer, but fallout 4 (I know an old game) works wonderfully, and the 1050-TI handles that game easily.Pricing is extremely AWESOME. The i7-8850h/32GB/1TB with a 3 year extended warranty was in the low 2k range thanks to promotions. A similarly configured Mac would have run 4,300. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blue screen after blue screenThis is currently my work laptop. On my first day of usage I had 8 blue screens. I've tried to download updated drivers but have not had much success. The amount of blue screens has been cut down to 1-3 times a day but this is insane. Lenovo needs to do a better job to make sure the drivers they are using actually work with the hardware. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great workstation laptop!Excellent workstation laptop. Great 4K display. The usual issues with compatibility of some Microsoft functions with a 4K display (extra large icons view, snappy when moving around in excel using arrow buttons), but that's not Lenovo's fault. ThinkPad Keyboard is as usual unbeatable. In normal "office mode", i.e. as a standard office workstation the fans hardly ever come on and if they do, noise levels are relatively low and acceptable. I ordered also the sleeve but had to return it, since it's made for the X1 Carbon/Yoga which are 14 inch laptops while the X1 Extreme is 15.6. Unfortunately, the sleeve came up as accessory for the X1 Extreme. It also does not provide its measurements on the website. I would buy it in a hard beat if it was available for 15.6 inch laptops.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Powerful Work LaptopI've been using this laptop for a couple of months now and I have been very pleased with its performance. I use it as a work laptop and make use of its prodigious resources as a Hyper-V hypervisor to build test environments. I have not run into any performance problems as I build new servers and clients for my testing.Another note is that the laptop is quite cool most of the time. I have tested it by loading a game to stress test the laptop. It eventually got hot, but the performance never dropped. One more area that I am very pleased in is the battery life. Unless I am seriously stressing the laptop, the battery lasts a long time. I haven't measured, but I had no battery problems going on a business trip and using it all during my travel (watching movies and running VMs).You can also upgrade this laptop. The bottom comes off with a little screwdriver use (the screws are made to never fall out!) and there are two memory slots and two M.2 slots. So, if you need more RAM or disk space, you have options.Again, overall, this has been a great laptop and I recommend it for any other professionals who need a lightweight yet powerful laptop that doesn't look out of place in a business meeting. Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Laptop I've Ever OwnedI've been an IT professional for 20 years and have had many, many laptops during that time, including many ThinkPads, and the ThinkPad X1 Extreme is by far the best laptop I've ever owned. I tend to get a new laptop every 1-2 years, with my previous two being ThinkPad X1 Carbons, and while I loved those machines as well, the 14" screen was just a hair too small for me, so I was ecstatic to see they created a slightly larger sibling with over-the-top performance. This is a beast of a laptop in a lightweight, refined package and I seriously cannot find a single annoyance with it. And I'm picky about my laptops. The keyboard is by far the best laptop keyboard you can get, the form factor is fantastic, even with all the power under the hood it runs extremely quietly, the screen is bright and sharp, and the performance is through the roof. I tend to run a lot of heavy-weight developer tools and this thing doesn't even blink. If you're looking for the best 15.6" laptop on the market, look no further. I could not be happier with this machine. I might even keep it a bit longer than my usual couple of years. :-) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful, amazing 4K HDR, Lenovo qualityI was looking to replace my old HP Envy laptop, which was one of the most powerful laptops at the time I bought it (i7, 16Gb of RAM, SSD+SSDH, etc.). After a lot of reading, comparing, watching reviews, etc., I decided to go with Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen1 (the most powerful option). I used to have Lenovo Carbon X1 at work and was very satisfied with its performance, reliability and durability, and this was the additional reason I decided to choose a Lenovo product. When I received the laptop, I was surprised by how light it was, keeping in mind the specifications. Another thing which blew me away right after turning it on - the 4K HDR touch screen. Comparing to my old laptop's FHD touch screen, it was night and day. Everything is so much better: brightness, colors, contrast, sharpness, etc. Watching HDR videos is a pure pleasure. Even though I have an HDR monitor, which is connected to the laptop at home, when watching HDR content, I choose the laptop's 15" screen over 27" HDR monitor :) It is also a beast in terms of performance. Even though there already was the Gen2 X1 released at the time I purchased mine, it still has more "muscle" than I will probably need in the nearest future. And lastly - I do love the classic, solid design. Even when trying to point out some cons, I am having hard time thinking of something. Well, the only thing that I could mention is probably the fact that the laptop gets quite warm, especially the part near fan exhaust. But this is most likely normal for a laptop this powerful, yet this thin and light. Also the keyboard requires getting used to it, in terms of layout (but it's very good quality). To sum up - very happy so far (been using the laptop for 2 weeks now).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far good but,,Very nice product, except a couple of items. First item, keyboard light has to be turned on every session. Why is that. Does not take any current to run them. Second item. The Lenovo splash page looks like it comes out of the 60s. This is all I can review at the moment. Computer is too new for other comments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of "Bells and Whistles" to Cover Your NeedsI love the sleek, matte black exterior, and it is super lightweight considering its impressive power capabilities. The amount of port options are welcome and even unique, including the SD Card slot and the HDMI port, as well as 2 USB-C ports and a smart card slot. It doesn't have a CD-Rom drive which is nice because that adds a lot of bulk. There are a lot of "bells and whistles" on this laptop, and I'm excited to try out the graphics card at full power. 5 out of 5 stars because, although the hardware can be considered a bit excessive (a center scroll button, a fingerprint scanner, even the smart card slot), it really covers the bases of ANY person who is looking for a HIGH-POWERED laptop computer for both gaming and technical work....And that is exactly what I was looking for when purchasing my laptop. Rated 5 out of 5 by from X1 Extreme PowerhouseI recently needed to upgrade my Yoga 910 to something with a larger screen for work. I wanted to take the opportunity to get something that could replace my home desktop (so needs to drive three external monitors). The X1 Extreme is working out beautifully. It's surprisingly light for it's size, the finish/construction is excellent and the performance is exceptional. Plenty of ports, including a couple of thundebolt enabled USB-C and expansion space for more memory and an extra drive. The X1 Extreme is truly a powerhouse for the most demanding workloads. My only niggles are the ethernet dongle (I occasionally need direct connect to switches) and that you can't get it with an integrated LTE modem, but they are minor blemishes in the overall picture. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, big screen, and great colorsI sold my 3rd gen X1 Yoga which I liked very much. That said I found that the Yoga capabilities to turn it into a tablet or tent for viewing were nice to have but not as important to me as the Carbon X1 Extreme's larger 15 inch screen, six quad processor and 4k screen resolution. Having many of the features of a workstation laptop and the business mobility of the Lenovo "X1" product line made it optimal for both work and personal use. I believe anyone choosing this Carbon Extreme X1 over the other Lenovo X1 product line will be happy that they did as you don't have to make any compromises whether you plan to use this laptop for business or personal use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect 15-inch laptopExcellent build quality, love the screen! Compared to Dell XPS 9570, it's lighter and much better quality, and better hardware, such as SDD and wifi card. The heat control is also better, cooler when browsing websites or playing games. The fan noise is acceptable, but Lenovo should consider changing the mesh because it causes some high pitch noise

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid unitStill too new to form a solid opinion as I think the real test of a laptop is how it will perform a year from now but it seems to be everything that was advertised and I really enjoy the design of the laptop. Super thin and very lightweight it seems to run any program including pro tools quickly and efficiently but again, I have not had it for very long to really push any limits by any means. Resolution and graphics are solid with even the standard screen. Laptop is everything I expected and I am happy with it. Only reason I gave a 4 is I have not had time to explore its full potential. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great laptop but dissapointing for LinuxIts a good laptop but if you are a Linux user you will feel you are wasting too much money for a premium laptop when in Linux feels like an average one.I am a Debian user, and while the installation wasn't that difficult (required to upgrade the linux kernel to 4.15 to make the Wifi driver works) , the whole laptop configuration (like BIOS) goes around Windows. It is not like old days with a complete and priority Linux supportAwesome:- Stunning look with a great matter FHD screen- Very lightweight- Awsome touchpadSucks:- Linux support- BIOS is not configurable as you wish- Gets hot and fans turn on randomly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice laptop with great screenI upgraded from an XPS 13 for a larger screen. The screen is very nice. Nice keyboard & track pad.I am a little shocked by the short battery life. The life is a little better after tuning the settings a bit. Still life is not good, just OK. If you mainly use it where charging is available it is fine. There is a nice setting to charge only to a given percentage so if you leave it plugged in all the time you won't shorten the life of the battery. This also in not the lap top for you if you spend a lot of time with it on your lap. You will cook things down there!. It runs very hot.I also am surprised at the size of the charger. It is giant. You are paying a premium price for a light lap top & then find that the charger seems to negate the lightness of the machine itself.Lenovo has a nice premium sleeve for the X1 Carbon, not for this. I have only been able to find economy sleeve else where. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sleek, Ergonomical, and Highly FunctionalWhat you get in this size laptop is definitely worth the cost. Screen size is great for gaming and media while the device isn't bulky or too heavy. Definitely has some awesome features as well.I like the texture of the laptop. The coating seems to be smudge resistant and has a nice feel. The mouse pad is made of glass which was a welcomed new sensation for me. It I haven't had a chance to put the processing power through the rigor yet but so far, the start up and general day to day usage is lightning fast. The fingerprint scanner works great and is pretty accurate 9.5/10. It's also pretty cool having the camera blocker feature. Overall, this is definitely a great product that works well for college students as well as aspiring gamers. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of the high end laptops!I've had this pc for a few weeks, Outstanding! I've used high end laptops for years, and this is the best I've had. It replaced a very good well known brand 15. (which in turn replaced a Surface Book with dedicated graphics. My favorite feature is the Windows Hello login, which was not available on the Dell. It is faster by far (thanks to the 8th generation Intel 6 core i7, 1 TB ssd, and 32 gb DDR4Ram) I use this for my work as a network engineer, so I can justify the cost, but that power does not come cheap. My one complaint is very minor. No 10 key pad. 15 in laptops used to all come with them, and I still miss them. Like I said, minor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Plenty of power, better than expected battery lifeThis is my third Lenovo laptop, the first two were a Yoga followed by a Yoga 2 Pro. I needed something with a little more oomph to do some 3D rendering and CAD work (dedicated video), along with a slightly larger display. I've been able to take my laptop out on the back porch on nice days and get work done and the battery outlasts the amount of time I will spend outside. (This is working with Chief Architect, and I will go outside for 3 hours or so and there's still plenty of battery left) The laptop has a slightly larger footprint than my Yoga 2 Pro, but has a larger display and more power. This laptop's upgrade capabilities are also very impressive, 64 GB of ram, and not one, but TWO spots for M.2 hard drives. The laptop is light and easy to travel with. I'm sure there isn't much that this machine would not be able to handle, but so far it has been great for me. i'm running it on a USB hub with 2 24" monitors and the laptop display. It can get warm, which is expected if you are doing some heavy work, but it's nothing out of the ordinary. So far i'm very happy with the machine, I was not expecting to get the battery life of the Yoga out of this machine so everything is right on par with what I was hoping for. Keep in mind the processor in here vs the new yoga consumes almost twice as much power.Specs on this one are as follows:i7-8750 w/ GTX-1050Ti (4GB)16GB DDR4256GB NVMe1TB NVMe Samsung Evo 970 (added as soon as I unboxed it)4K touch screenWin 10 Pro [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great Workstation/UltrabookAt first I couldn't decide whether to buy the X1 Carbon or the X1 Extreme. But I'm glad I went with the Extreme, which is essentially the Carbon's big brother. Faster CPU and Ram in addition to upgradable/swappable Ram and storage is what swayed me towards the Extreme. I'm very happy with the legendary ThinkPad keyboard when doing long essays and coding for school. The battery life is also very good, it will last the day with normal use for me. The graphics card is not a bad addition too, some light/moderate gaming or 3d rendering is very smooth on it, however it does get very toasty. My only concern is how hot it can get with normal use, not crazy hot but the fans will turn on randomly even if I have just a few tabs open and maybe a word doc. Overall it is still a very good laptop and is a good choice for those wanting a thin and light with workstation performance! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good performance; Rough around the edgesI'm in the third week of using this new system. I bought it because I need more than 16GB of RAM and as much performance as I can get. I run multiple VMs which drive the need for both. Those two requirements have been met, but I the system has two negative characteristics which are not bad enough to force me to return it, but they do not lead me to be very satisfied with the system.First, The WiFi performance is mediocre. I kept it set up side by side with my previous system which is a Microsoft Surface Book 2. Running speedtest.net on both yielded download performance that was half the SB2 and upload between 1/5th and 1/10th the performance of the SB2. My general approach is to let the system decide the best configuration for the WiFi which was 802.11AC at 5GHz for the Lenovo and 802.11n at 2.4GHz for the SB2. I did try forcing the the X1 to match the SB2 configuration, but the results only converged a small amount. The SB2 was performing significantly better than the X1.Second, the fan noise when running on AC power. It is obnoxious. And seems unrelated to CPU load. For example, my CPU is currently running at 7% and the fan is on and quite audible. It was quiet and when I switched over to Task Manager to see the current load the fan came up and has not yet settled down. I have searched around the web and see that Thinkpads in general have been showing this issue for a while. Consensus seems to be that the solution is to undervolt the CPU, but a) I shouldn't have to do that and b) if I do have to do it, Lenovo should be the one showing me how to do it. Not Reddit. In summary, it's a nice piece of hardware with what I suspect are some driver issues that the Lenovo needs to sort out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great performance and pretty good screen (1080p)!I bought this about a month ago. It has incredible build quality and the keyboard is fantastic! This chews through Blender rendering and gaming is decent for the hardware. Fans don't come on unless you're really doing something intensive...Battery life is decent. You are going to get close to 7:15 hrs with a screen at 75% brightness, performance on better battery and just doing word processing with light browsing. Anything more than that and battery life goes down dramatically. The only caveat is sleep. If you close the lid, then realize you forgot something and open it back up before it fully enters sleep, it takes a while to wake back up. Can be solved by only turning off the screen when laptop is closed and setting sleep to kick in at 10 minutes, but I don't think this should be necessary..

The screen is stunning - makes working on it just a bit more enjoyable, though unnecessary. The keyboard is good enough that when working at my desktop, I don't miss not having a standalone keyboard. With the mid-tier 6-core processor, this thing flies through basic tasks. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It’s my past and futureThinkPad's designs are timeless classics; the sleek, black finish, the minimalist design, and the red TrackPoint in the middle of the keyboard which controls your mouse. With ThinkPads being under Lenovo now, they’ve been working hard to go beyond nostalgia and bring the Thinkpad into the future. The ThinkPad X1 Xtreme is the culmination of their efforts.Xtreme is definitely the word to describe the sheer power of this Thinkpad. Playing games on this is a breeze, and the screen also ensures that you’re going to have a great looking image as well. Whether it is something as graphics-heavy as Apex Legends or a pixelated masterpiece like Axiom Verge, the X1 Xtreme is more than capable of handling any kind of game. Photo editing and video editing is also perfect on the Xtreme, as well as just general video streaming and web surfing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Computer, hate Windows 10This computer replaces a 7+ year-old laptop. My things have changed. I am enjoying the new features as I discover them. (A touch screen? What?) And lots faster for my graphics needs.Unfortunately I find Windows 10 very invasive, trying to mine my data, and intrusive (I don't want ads when I boot my system). The computer itself looks and feels great and is a lovely form factor. Again I found it strange that the CTRL and ALT keys are placed opposite of the rest of the universe, but quickly fixed this in the BIOS. As with all PC-based computers, this will take a while to configure to my liking. But at least it's configurable. The only reason I give this 4 instead of 5 stars is that it seems to run a bit hot. Also it has had several crashes running a combination of 3D Studio Max + Vray. It likes to lose network drives when asleep, which causes problems, but sometimes it will just suddenly crash, which I suspect has to do with video drivers. Unhandled Exception errors are totally generic.I hope I can resolve these issues as I have only been using it intensively for one week. I hope it can be a strong working system for several years down the road if I can solve these puzzles. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Thank s one is lighter than they were and gobs and gobs faster. The screen is very bright and clear too. Moving to a usb c dock took some getting used to but it turns out my desk is cleaner looking for it. Nothing I can complain about and lots to love. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Purchase!I have to say that I am so happy with my ThinkPad X1 Extreme purchase. I was considering several other "workstation" laptops and the combination of 64G of RAM and a 15" 4k screen was just too much to pass up. The keyboard is second to none on a laptop as is usual for ThinkPads. Performance is awesome for my development purposes and running multiple virtual machines. In addition, they actually delivered the laptop when they said they would. (Another vendor delayed two months and then wanted to delay another two months.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Xtreme Xcellence...but just shy of perfectI really LOVE the X1 Extreme. Form factor is wonderful for a 15" screen. Weight is evenly distributed to not feel too top heavy or big to lug around. At just over 4lbs it feels solid without ever feeling "heavy". It never seems to run too hot and feels great to the touch. I haven't really pushed the processing power yet, but for everyday tasks and light Software Dev tasks it works without issue. The keyboard is excellent; as expected from Lenovo products. Really bouncy and firm to the touch and great travel. I have the 4K touchscreen display version and it's a joy to watch with great colors and infinitely wonderful resolution. Hard to go back to 1080P.Windows Hello works flawlessly about 90% of the time so no real complaints there. I've never actually used the webcam so no reviews on that. The fingerprint reader is pretty useless. I've used it a few times and had to really manipulate my fingers to get it to work correctly. Might work in a pinch but not reliably.Speaker sound from many professional reviewers described it as weak but I really enjoy the sound from the bottom firing speakers. I like the output and don't need a laptop to wail it on music. Just good enough to hear shows and videos. If I need to get in depth, I'll connect some nice headphones.Upgradability is HUGE for this laptop. Lenovo makes it really easy to double up your RAM and throw in a 2nd hard drive. I bought 8GB of RAM with a 256GB Hard Drive and was able to double the RAM and add a 512GB stick for a low priced upgrade. I really enjoy that aspect of this laptop. The only downside is battery life. I know a 4K screen will drain the battery, but on normal power use (streaming a sports game on Youtube.TV, browsing the internet and basic email tasks) I get about 4 hours. It's well short of advertised hours and a bit disappointing to have to plug back in so often. I might tweak the Power Settings to see if I can eke out another 2 hours, but still, it's a bit disappointing. I hope it improves with better power management, but considering this is in ultrabook territory, it should give me a little more oomph considering the power sipping intel chips these days.Aside from the minor complaints, I truly enjoy my X1 Extreme. Last time I really enjoyed a laptop was a mid 2000's Macbook Pro and the X1 Extreme makes me enjoy using my computer again. Wonderful product Lenovo [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent laptop. Truly the best.Cools very well, especially after a repaste--very easy to do and doesn't void warranty. I also undervolted through throttlestop, and the laptop runs even cooler. The x1 has the pros and cons as the x1 build material i.e. I've noticed that another x1 has a different keyboard, but the x1 packs more powry, excellent cooling that doesn't blow onto my had like the carbon, and feels great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great choice to replace family computerI was replacing my Mac Mini and making the choice between buying the new model, an HP Spectre and the X1 Extreme. I opted for the X1 Extreme because the specs, especially the discrete graphics card, were just an edge above the alternatives. We use it for streaming linked to a TV, school work and general email and web across the family. So far so good. Only slight niggle maybe is the speed at which the fan comes on, which seems to happen at even the simplest task but it eventually goes off. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I've been using the laptop for a week now and love everything about it. The design looks great make you feel a like a professional. For a powerful laptop it's actually pretty slim and weight in under 4 lbs. I have the full HD display model and the battery is great. Oh I can't forget about the keyboard. Everything good you heard about the keyboard is spot-on. Its the best keyword by far I ever use on any laptop or desktop for that matter, it's that good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing screen, keyboard and build...Can't say enough good things about ThinkPad after many years on different Macs and watching the quality and consistency steadily drop over the past few years. My little Macbook 12 had probably the worst keyboard every invented for a laptop, whereas the X1 has a phenomenal keyboard that is a pleasure to type on. The screen is amazing and overall everything is rock solid, I just wish the battery life was better than 5.5-6.0 hours on the balanced power setting

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extreme power, performance, but not so much costI have been a long-time user of ThinkPads, from a model whose name I can't recall to the x60s, the w51, the twist, and now the x1 extreme. All the Thinkpad schemes are clicked here - the trackpoint, the pad, the keyboard lighting, the color scheme, the very durable fit and finish. I am coming over from a dalliance with an unnamed 2 in 1 laptop, which was quite excellent in its own way, but let's be honest. I wanted a machine suitable for work, for notes, for all the basic processing needs, but I also wanted to play a few cool games in my off-time. Look no further! All that, and a great screen, plenty of horsepower, and still very suitable as a business machine. Going to a gaming computer would mean losing on the fit and finish of a ThinkPad, not to mention looking garish for everyday use. Sticking with a 2 in 1 meant scrimping on power and capabilities. The X1 does it all (except for a detachable screen). Now - if only I could get better battery life. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ThinkPad X1 Extreme (15.6”)The ThinkPad Extreme (15.6) Lenova arrived weeks late. On the plus side they did keep me informed during that timeframe. During setup Lenova required an MS email and they give one a chance to set it up during the start up. I did not want another email and found it frustrating to get passed that option. Once I got passed the option it told me that the machine would operate the best if I used their email and Eedge software. This was a negative as I want the option to use my chosen software and still get the performance promised. For the cost of this system it must be user friendly enough to set up the options my way, not be penalized for not using the MS options. I could not rate this product more than 2 stars for these major reasons and a few others not mentioned here. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best all around laptop I've used!4K screen, keyboard and system speed are top notch. I'm able to run multiple programs at once with zero lag. Lenovo Pen Pro helps make the touchscreen feature flawlessly smooth and precise. Video games and movies look great on the screen and the speakers sound pretty good too. System is whisper quiet when the cooling fan kicks on. With the screen on about 60% brightness the battery lasts about 5 1/2 hours while playing movies and games. It isn't a heavy laptop but feels super durable in my hands. I would recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a powerful machine that can pretty much handle anything you throw at it and still look and sound great. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built laptopIts been nearly one month since I bought this laptop. The build quality of the laptop is nice. There is very little flex both in the chassis and the screen and still the laptop is light. The battery life is fair enough, I am getting aorund 5 to 6 hours of battey life during my daily use. The typing on keyboard is very comfortable, you can type of hours without feeling tired. I use numpad a lot hence was skeptical about buying this laptop as it doesn't have a numpad. But I got used to the new keyboard layout within few days. The material of the laptop doesn provide good grip but captures oil very fast. The speaker of the laptop is decent but it is better to use headphones for gaming. The webcam is good enough for conferences. The choice of IOs is nice, the two type C thunderbolt ports along with two USB type A connector give descent choice of IOs. The SD card slot is a great help for designers. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Balance of Performance and Design...I decided to purchase this work horse of a laptop for my birthday. I was need of a future proof machine with a high-res screen. I'm partially bias towards Thinkpads having used them at work for years which led to my Lenovo keyboard addiction. The CES announcement of this device caught my attention as well so I decided to give it a try. [Pros:]- The Build Quality is superior.- Keyboard is perfect.- The Hardware is optimized for a great Windows 10 experience.- The 4K UHD Screen with color saturation is one of the best I've ever seen.- Port Placement and variety is perfectly executed. - The amount of Hardware crammed inside of this thin-light machine is amazing.[Cons:]- Runs warm on your lap if used for an extended period of time.- Battery life is decent and could be better.- Fan noise is noticeable [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A gorgeous display, with so-so battery lifeI'm thrilled that I got a Lenovo when I was considering an XPS15. The machine is really powerful, has a gorgeous touch display, and comes backed by great support. However, while I haven't depleted the battery yet, it is unfortunately short-lived. The longest quote I saw was about 6 hours. This might be due to a need for cooling, as this bad boy runs a little hot, even in basic operation. Overall, I'm glad that when my company asked me which to get that I got this one, but I am a little bummed I can't spend the whole workday on a couch. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost perfectThis is my second thinkpad(previously had a t440p) and over all am very happy. I use it for work mostly doing coding and programming so the legendary keyboard definitely plays a big part in my satisfaction, though I don’t k ow that the keys have as much travel or are as dishes out as on the t440p, but still way better than any modern keyboard I’ve used lately. The 1050 ti graphics card is definitely a big plus as it allows for light gaming on the off hours, along with handeling graphics heavy programs for work. I love how light and potable it is and the build quality feels as solid as I’d hoped. The only complaint I’d have is battery life. With light use it’s ok, but no where near as good as is quoted. Maybe 5-6 with light use, no more than 2 if I’m lucky with anything that kicks up the graphics card. But it does charge pretty quick so not the end of world so far. Still, if typing is your main priority, get a thinkpad [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm happyNeeded a Windows computer to supplement my Macbook for personal work. Spent a good bit of time researching all available laptops. I had a specific set of minimum requirements: i7, 16GB, 15", and the X1 met those requirements perfectly. The price was reasonable, and comparable to the major competitors. I made the purchase about a month ago, and I'm very happy with my choice. I've used Lenovo in the past at work, and they are workhorses. The battery life is a little short, but I expected that considering the power it has. It would be nice if the power cable were a couple of feet longer. I really wasn't in the market for a touch-screen, but maybe I'll find a use for it. I'm not a gamer, and haven't explored all of the graphic capabilities just yet, but I'm very impressed with the display. Overall solid computer. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Machine. Surprisingly Thin & LightMy ThinkPad X1 Extreme is very impressive. I'm amazed that it is so thin and light for a machine with so much power. I've looked at other gaming machines with similar specs that were much more bulky. If I had to list one complaint it would be that the fan can get noisy when revved up. But I think that can be forgiven considering it sports a GTX 1050 Ti.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1 Month of Ownership: So far, very good. With about a month of ownership, the X1 Extreme has been a fantastic transition from a powerful desktop PC to a mobile station that is just about on par. It's comfortable, easy to use and very fast. With the option to upgrade components makes this a very useful platform. I'm probably under utilizing its total capability. I'm currently using it for primarily school work but expect it will operate very well for work programming small unmanned aircraft systems and related work projects. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving the touch screenI only buy Lenovo because they are so reliable. My last one was still going strong after more than 7 years, but it was a dinosaur, so I took the plunge. I got the ThinkPad X1 Extreme with the touch screen, which is as fabulous as you would expect. Even without that feature, this laptop is fast. The graphics are clean and crisp. The touchpad is larger than expected, and the keyboard has a great feel (the keys depress enough that you know each keystroke has registered). My only issue is that I had to buy a chill mat to keep the laptop cool. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding performance and a beautiful 4K displayI purchased this despite having reservations about glossy/touch displays. I've never had much use for touch screens, but I wanted a 4K panel on my new laptop, and the 4K panels available were all touch screens, so I took a chance that this display would be too reflective. So far, I've been very pleased. While I have needed to adjust my seating position a few times when out and about so that I didn't have a sunny window directly behind me, overall the display has been excellent. It's noticeably less reflective than another touchscreen laptop from another manufacturer that I have available for direct comparison. If you want a 4K laptop, the X1 Extreme has so far proven an excellent choice. All that having been said, I have a small number of minor complaints that may be useful to consider:- The USB C ports are all on the left, while the USB A ports are all on the right. For various reasons, I believe it would be better to have one of each on each side.- The proprietary Ethernet dongle port is just a waste of space. If you need Ethernet, get a USB Ethernet adapter. I see no reason to use a proprietary connector for a network port. Eliminating that port could've left room for another USB port, a DisplayPort, or something else that would be valuable.- I expected reduced battery life due to the 4K display. I don't have detailed measurements, but battery life definitely feels inferior to my old T460s. However, it's not been a deal-breaker by any means. I'm happy I upgraded. I keep a large external battery with me anyway, and will simply use it more often with this laptop. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great choice for professionalsI was really happy to receive my X1 Extreme and find that the same build quality I had expected from a ThinkPad was still apparent, along with a great high-quality 4K screen. This and a lot of the improvements in Windows 10 have made switching from a MacBook Pro quite painless. It doesn't have that plastic creaky feeling of a lot of Windows laptops. I know this is a device that I will get many years of use out of. The battery life isn't amazing but it makes sense given the high-end components and fancy screen. It's very light and pleasant to the touch. Keyboard is the best and backlit is comfortable. I like fingerprint unlock it's much faster than password or even pin log in(face reconition didnt use. Battery life is good. I charge it on work and next day work on battery at home. Charge brick is very small and light but I wish it have a small light indicate when in power soket. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Performer (After Some Tweaking)I purchase x1 Extreme's with 32 GB memory and high-res screens for end-users for .Net development, Systems Engineers, and DBA workstations.PROS:- Amazing Screen, Great Keyboard, typical Lenovo touchpad + nub. Very satisfying and sleek physical construction- Extremely Responsive(after adjustments!). After some tweaking, the performance is amazing.- Feature Rich (IR Camera, Fingerprint reader, Touch screen- Decent Battery life at full performance ~2 hours with typical internet use. Less playing full video, less than an hour playing games- Variety of ports (two USB 3.0, two Thunderbolt 3, full-sized HDMI, smart-card reader for cameras, proprietary Network dongle port)- Light for its class. The battery pack is also significantly smaller and lighter than the P52 model, but is still a little chunky in order to power this class of system.CONS:- Default Power Saving and Bios settings create 'hiccups' and slow response due to throttling and graphics card switching. Changing bios to use Discrete Graphics and setting Power Profile to all full performance options removed those hiccups.- Proprietary Network Dongle. For a Workstation class laptop, having to use a dongle is very annoying. I've seen it introduce unexplained DNS Timeouts- Using a Thinkpad Ultra dock with SS USB connection sometimes introduces input hiccups, and the port itself is often loose- The battery life is not great, even in full power saving mode. In 2hr conferences I stress over running out of juice before they end.- Adjustments needed! The bios and power settings are configured to moderate performance and to use the intel video instead of the 1050TI discrete graphics. While better for battery and typical web-surfing use, for a workstation performance is everything.- The SS USB port and a dock is not sufficient to power the laptop. Even docked it still requires its power supply.SUMMARY:Out of the box, the x1 Extreme (32GB) is a strong performer and great for development. However, to get the most performance out of the system, you need to adjust BIOS settings and tweak the Power Profile settings to get around the aggressive power saving routines.I'm extremely happy with the screen and webcam, and having multiple USB ports for both 3.0 and Thunderbolt/C is awesome for peripherals and compatibility. It's a lot lighter than the P52 boat anchor, but it's still very much a workstation and not exactly "light". All in all, my developers and I agree that this is the best laptop we've purchased for engineering. Leaps and bounds over the Dell XPS equivalents and Lenovo P52 we were using previously. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light and fastI bought this to replace a 10 year old Gateway machine that has served me well but has outlived its usefulness. We have been buying Lenovo laptops for our company and they have stood up well. I couldn't believe how light this machine was compared to my old one. And, of course, it is much faster due to the newer CPU and more RAM. I have only had it for a month, but love it. The only problem I had is since it doesn't have a RJ45 network connection built in, you have to buy a dongle for that, and I had trouble getting the correct one from Lenovo. Once I obtained the correct one it worked well. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful MachineI bought this laptop about a week ago. I had been craving for a laptop with similar features for about 2 years from now, and I can happily say that the wait was worth it. Powered with i7 8850H Processor, 32GB RAM, 1 TB SSD Hard Drive, NVIDIA GTX 1050 Graphics card and 4K Display makes the whole experience so smooth and rewarding. I did compare the laptops in similar portfolio with that offered by competitors like Dell - XPS 15, HP - Elitebook 1050 and Asus - Zenbook Pro, but all in all Thinkpad did impressed me with its stats against the quality benchmark and yes, the patented keyboard architecture is unmatched. This x1 extreme model has a smaller, narrower keypad than the carbon model. Not ergonomical for the every day user. The system gives off loud running noise, louder than any lower grade laptops. It actually sounded like a 10-year old 14-lb Dell laptop I had. This is supposed to be top of the line. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thermal Issues Prevent a 5 Star LaptopGOOD: The laptop is a beast and the amount of power you get for the price is great, especially when comparing it to competing laptops like the MacBook Pro. It's fast and perfect for all of your needs, including light gaming. I consistently run Doom 2016 on high settings at 60fps and 1440p resolution. Photo editing is speedy as well. You may run into rendering issues with video editing, however. BAD: There are considerable thermal issues with the laptop. Mundane tasks such as word processing trigger the fans and they whir with such intensity that they're distracting. The cooling system is just as inefficient and ridiculous as a MacBook Pro. There are many times when my system IDLES at 58 degrees Celsius. That is unacceptable. What's the culprit? It's probably the Lenovo power management software that is eating the CPU. There are many processes for that feature, a feature that doesn't seem to work well. Would I return the laptop? No. But I'm certainly going to upgrade my warranty to one-year, on-site. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hardware - poor softwareHad my Lenovo X1 Extreme for a week only and already found a hot pixel (green). Furthermore, got the laptop bricked by a simple setting change in BIOS from hybrid graphics to discrete graphics. After that I only have a black screen and non-responsive laptop. What made me change the setting was a green screen of death whenever I tried to connect an eGPU via the Thunderbolt 3 port... It turned out to be a glitchy BIOS version 1.15. Waiting for motherboard replacement (it'll also take up to 3 weeks). The specs of the laptop great but the software implementation lets it down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This PC was allowed in a Mac householdI used to own PC's until six years ago when my husband informed me that he would not help me with an issues with a laptop if I bought a PC--and he bought me a Mac. I hated the Mac systems and interface and had zero desire to learn it. Finally, one day he announced that if I were to buy a PC, the X1 would be accepted in the household. I bought the Extreme (I wanted the 15 inch screen) and minus the issue with a wireless driver that needed to be reinstalled, the laptop has worked like a charm. The screen clarity (my vision is not the best) is excellent and the keyboard is comfortable. Did I need this much PC? No, but I wanted to get back to using a PC for personal use and the X1 passed the computer engineer sniff test. Go read the reviews on why Mac owners would by the X1. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme 20MFCTO1WWI am thoroughly impressed with the quality and performance of this machine. Had a few software conflicts right out of the box I had to deal with. The mousepad would randomly quit working. Corrected by installing new drivers. My only issue with this machine is I took the 1080p screen which I would classify as subpar quality. My 6 year old HP with substantially less options has a higher screen quality than this p.c. does. I went with the lower quality screen to hopefully increase battery life. Overall I am happy with this purchase. I chose the I7-8750H, with 1 16gb stick of ram as there is no upcharge for 1 single 16gb stick or 2-8gb sticks and a nvme 256gb hard drive. Leaving me with options to expand later. Especially from a performance standpoint to put a samsung ssd in.

The form factor is actually only slightly than my much older U410, but it's lighter and the bezel is very thin, allowing for a much larger and beautiful screen. The boot time is about 15-20s consistently, and there's not much bloatware to remove. The fan when running on full does sound a bit like a jet liner taking off, but it doesn't often run at max speed. First and foremost, if you are willing to spend 2+ thousand dollars in a computer, regardless of the brand, you won't get a bad laptop. By doing some research, it is easy to conclude that there is no clear winner between the X1 Extreme and the competition (I owned a XPS15 before and I was an excellent laptop). Therefore, the challenge is to find the computer that best suits your needs. Below you will find the reasons that drove me to buy this laptop over other options.1. I needed a powerful and durable computer. I got the i7 8850H, 4K, 32GB RAM version and I love it. I mainly use it for data science, statistical modelling and analyzing huge data sets and it is everything I expected. It handles everything I throw at it very well.2. I love the discrete, subtle ThinkPad design. It is sturdy and very well built. It was a major factor when deciding which laptop to buy. I wanted a durable laptop that made you look professional and serious, specially when meeting clients. However, this might not apply to all consumers.3. I spend long hours typing reports and coding, and the keyboard is, simply put, the best out there4. It is a very lightweight laptop for the power it packsI found the following YouTube reviews very helpful and accurate (ex-post): MobileTechReview, PCWorld and Matthew Moniz. The downsides of this laptop, which I can most definetely live with, are: (a) the cover and palmrest gets oil and fingerprints the really easy, (b) it does get hot when you are doing intensive work or, sometimes, watching a video.Bottom line, this is an excellent laptop, I love it and it is the best I've owned. However, my reasons for buying it might not apply to all and this is why you need to find the computer that best suits you. But if you want a durable and powerful computer and like the ThinkPad design look no further, this computer is everything you'd expect. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from X1 Extreme a laptop with everythingI am a long time user of ThinkPads and when I needed a new laptop my first stop as to look at the new ThinkPad’s. After looking at the other brands that just seem to be missing things, I went with a ThinkPad. I wanted everything my desktop had and more in my new laptop. The ThinkPad X1 Extreme had everything; 8th gen i7 with 6 cores, Track point, Fingerprint scanner, touch screen, Second SSD, USB C, USB 3, Thunderbolt 3, Nvidia 1050TI video card, big battery.ProSlim, the right number of ports, you can pick it up with one hand, Very nice looking display, Fast!, does not get too hot, very quiet, plays games at 60 FPSConsI did not want a 4K screen but it was REQUIRED to get touch, it requires more power, yes it looks very good, but it just is not needed on a 15.6” display. Also, if you get the 4K screen you are REQUIRED to get the better camera that needs more power too.Battery life on the website says up to 14 hours, well that is just wrong. If you go big (more SSD and Ram), and you want touch you are more like 6 to 7 hours.Overall I am very happy with the laptop. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great piece of hardware, not great for linux yetHardware is high quality, I got it hoping to run Ubuntu 18.04. Unfortunately, did not have success running a few different Linux distros I tried, both in Hybrid and Discrete graphics mode. The Nvidia graphics card has broken the linux support it seems. Hopefully the issue will be resolved soon, for now linux runs well in a VM.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great featuresI got lucky to buy this machine at the lowest possible price and it is worth each penny. I am in love with the keyboard. Overall speed is amazing. Performance is second to none. However, when on charge, some times when you play a game or song, it give weird noise which is not a problem if not on charge. I am still to evaluate the battery performace.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thinkpad X1 Extreme ReviewI was a Thinkpad user for a long time until my company switched to Dell for a reason unknown to me. Now that I have my own company and decision over all purchasing options, I choose the best - which was the Thinkpad X1 Extreme. Coincidental with the name of the product, I am extremely satisfied with just about everything since I purchased the product 2 weeks ago. The layout is very, very nice, the keyboard true Thinkpad responsive and comfortable and the display outstanding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I mean... Wow.I've flipped flopped from Apple to Lenovo computers over the past 6 years and I've found, in relation to durability and withholding the test of time, that Lenovo comes on top. My older Lenovo, a portable E340, lasted for 6+ years until I practically killed it with my poor care of it (pushing its hard-drive way over the limit). The keyboard on this current model is just a great, if not better, than the last. Super comfortable and just enough tip-tap noise for it to be enjoyable. Resolution is solid, Adobe products run and look amazing, and overall an excellent computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Utility and StyleThe first thing of note in the X1 Extreme is the form-factor --- pretty petite given that it is a 15.6' laptop. The matte black finish makes this a beautiful machine, but at the same time maintains, to a certain extent, the typical Thinkpad utilitarian look. The overall performance of the device is buttery smooth --- but that is to be expected given the beefy config --- i7 8750H, 16 GB, 512 GB. The thermals are reasonable --- not as monstrous as something you would get in a dedicated gaming rig. But I have not experienced any thermal throttling so far. And the performance is backed up by the very impressive battery life. The only disappointing thing about the overall package is the wonky fingerprint reader --- not a big concern for me since I am used to logging in using the PIN.Another positive aspect about the Extreme is the 1050Ti GPU. The gaming performance itself is reasonable --- entry-level in my opinion. This is an unreasonably expensive piece of hardware if gaming is the primary use. Also, since this GPU does not support whisper mode, the fan noise can be a bit too high while gaming. But the GPU comes with ample CUDA cores to provide significant speedup in SIMD --- excellent for casual machine learning.I also have the Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock. Coupled with this, the laptop is a very worthy desktop replacement. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snappy, speedy upgrade for my laptopI purchased the laptop with an nvme drive, which I replaced with Samsung 970 EVO nvme drives. This laptop is the easiest to upgrade that I've had in a while. I will be upgrading the ram shortly. But as it stands this is a powerful little laptop. It's light and slim. The display is great, upgraded from a barely 720p laptop. The keyboard takes some getting used to, I got used to chiclet keys, these are a bit higher. All in all, a solid buy. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best on the marketI've got 4K model and it's awesome. Fast Samsung SSD, beautiful screen, extreme performance. A few minor notes: the fans are sometimes noisy, and there was no screw on the motherboard for an additional SSD. By the way it's very easy to open the back cover to install the additional SSD. Overall this is the best Windows notebook currently available on the market.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great laptop, very poor battery life. The computer looks very nice. I love the matte black, but it does leave a lot of finger print marks and other marks easily. I had the x1 carbon before and this had better specs so I got this. The issue is, I can't tell any difference in speed or performance from the x1 carbon even though this laptop has better specs so I was a bit disappointed. The computer runs well, but I hoped it would be even faster and just overall better. The screen brightness is not so great ( I don't have the high def scree). The battery life is MUCH worse than the x1 carbon. I'd say I could go all day and maybe more using the x1 carbon ( around 8-10 hours total of video play and heavy web browsing), but with the x1 extreme I get about 3-4 hours I think with video play and heavy web browsing. I'm not even playing video games or anything like that so I'm confused why my laptop battery falls so quickly. For a brand new laptop I would've really wished it could go at least 8 hours of basic usage. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly What I Was Looking For!I have had the laptop for only a few weeks now but am very happy with the initial quality. I was looking for a good all in one replacement for my old my old lap top and landed on the X1 Extreme. First and foremost I was looking for build quality. If you have not held this device, I suggest you do. My first thoughts when unboxing were sleek, solid, smooth, and satisfying. I think it says a lot when simply holding the device inspires satisfaction. So far performance is fantastic. I wanted to be able to do some light gaming when I'm not working and this device has handles my counter strike urges with ease.People have commented on fan noise being a nuisance and while it is audible when spinning, I don't find it to be a nuisance or too loud. Additionally, customization setting in Lenovo Vantage and BIOS are available to customize your cooling wishes which translates to less fan and lower RPMs if you so desire. I for one actually appreciate the robustness of the fans and they seem to be doing an excellent job of keeping the device cool while under heavy load.Webcam is nothing to write home about, speakers are decent (an improvement form my old device), and the keyboard is a joy to type on. I did have to adjust coming from a keyboard with very little key travel but I much prefer the feel and travel of this keyboard compared to my old device. Rated 5 out of 5 by from An ok laptop.Laptop is ok. Battery life realistically is about 3 hours on very conservative settings which is pretty bad despite the power hungry specs. Performance is what you would expect, given the specs. I don't have any complaints there. Haven't had any heat management issues. Bluetooth connections keeps dropping for some reason, not sure if it's the laptop or windows 10 (had same issue with my dell xps that I replaced with the X1) All in all, I'm not blown away, but not unhappy either with the purchase. So to sum up, it's an ok laptop that's pretty powerful but sucks battery life wise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A well built laptop inside outI like the lenovo keyboard, have been steping back for a long time since most lightweight models do not have cuda capability, except the X1 Extreme (and P1). This following review is based on my personal experience after using more than 4 iterations of macbook pros, sony vaio, razer blade 15, asus rog, etc.The first thing I do after receiving the laptop is to open it up and repaste it, and this laptop is well designed inside out! First you don't see those messy ribbon cables most other laptop has. The screw on bottom plate do not fall out after losen. And there are 2 ssd slot, lenovo only use one of them, but they include the screw and thermal pad/tape for the empty slot! There is plenty of room around the battery for it to expand in case something happens, and the top case do not feel hot under moderate load. (bottom rear do get hot at 100% cpu and cannot sit on lap)There are some room for improvement though. The 4k screen is very power hungry, the actual time i get with very moderate use is 5 hours. The 4k do have bleeding problem as the FHD screen. Wonder why lenovo cannot put the WQHD screen of carbon gen 6 (500nit) on X1E. The voltage regulators and the intel controller chip are not being cooled, which i guess could impact performance / lifespan, (just put thermal pads on your own..) The keyboard backlight is bleeding from edge of keys instead of just lighting up the letter, which is sometimes annoying. (Razer and apple did better in this aspect, although with worse key stroke feedback)Overall, a nice one, going to be my main work computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best business class laptop on the marketAfter a few weeks of use I can say that the ThinkPad X1 Extreme is a powerhouse of a laptop, packed into a slim and very user friendly design. It's lightweight, has ample battery life and stands up to whatever workload I've thrown at it. As director of IT at my company I purchased a couple of these for my power users to test switching away from a competitor, and I do not regret the choice. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy, but with one hiccupI have had my laptop for two weeks now and I have very much enjoyed it. I use it primarily for my graduate studies and some simple gaming (Minecraft, Terraria, etc...). Six days after receiving it, the computer crashed. The monitor displayed a blue screen, sad face, and a Memory Management error code. We turned it off and back on again and it has been working fine ever since. As with any new laptop, I have downloaded a large number of programs and it is possible that a particular driver has installed incorrectly, two programs miscommunicated, etc. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase, I just hope that the blue screen error was a fluke and doesn't continue to happen. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Minor complaints aside, this is a great laptopAfter happily owning an XPS 15 for 6 years, it was time to get a new computer. However, the current XPS models have the nosecam -- being a big user of video chat, this pretty much ruled it out for me.My computer before the XPS was an IBM ThinkPad, and I loved it. Built like a tank, and I actually like the trackpoint a lot. I was looking for a laptop that:*Could last several years (I keep laptops at LEAST 4 years often more)*Had good build quality*Had a touchscreen*Could handle light gaming pretty well (mostly some old-ish titles, indie games, strategy games)*Didn't have nosecam! After doing a lot of research, the ThinkPad X1 Extreme won out. I don't quite need all the power I got (I got the 8850H model since it was cheaper than the custom-built X1 Extreme I wanted, and had more stuff), but I know that it'll last me a while. My return period just passed, and I've been using it for a month, and am overall very happy with it. Instead of listing all the things it does right, here are my short list of complaints:*It runs hot, and it's really best if you undervolt it if you have any of the core i7 models. I was able to undervolt my 8850H by -165mV and it's super stable (I got a crash at -170, but zero crashes under an 8 hour stress test and daily use at -165 for a month). Undervolting has little downside, and will result in a cooler, faster machine with better battery life. It'll take around a day (on and off for testing - you don't have to be there the whole time) to do it properly, but it's well worth it. Undervolting isn't hard -- if a noob like me can do it, you can too *It's somewhat of a fingerprint magnet, and the fingerprints don't wipe easily without a moist cloth. It's not TERRIBLE (Fingerprints mainly show in light at an angle), but it would be ideal of the material didn't attract fingerprints so easily, or was easily wiped*The battery life is so-so -- I'm getting around 5-7 hours depending on use. That's okay, but if you need entire-workday life, this isn't your machine*I really wish they had a touchscreen model that wasn't 4k -- 4k screens drain battery and aren't really necessary on 15" devices. 1440 or 1080 would be fine. While this particular 4k screen is indeed gorgeous, one can have very good looking <4k screens, too. I'd also prefer the privacy shutter rather than the Windows Hello cam, but you can't get that on the touchscreen model. My ideal device would've had a nice 1080p or 1440p touchscreen with a webcam with a privacy shutter or some kind of hardware killswitch for the cam like the new HP Spectres have*My old ThinkPad had TrackPoint drift (the cursor sometimes drifts after you stop applying pressure), and it seems this hasn't been fixed in all these years! Turning the sensitivity down helps a little, but seriously, why is this still a problem after all these years?*I totally don't get why I need a dongle to use ethernet, even though there's a network port. Why not just put a full sized ethernet port? Am I missing something?*The power button light should turn off when the laptop's in use, and glow when the laptop is asleep/powered off. It's kinda weird and a little distracting and pretty useless to have an always-glowing power button on the keyboardOther than that, this laptop's great. Light, powerful, upgradeable, seems rugged (although a month's too early to tell), all the ports you need (including 4-lane Thunderbolt, so you can get an eGPU down the line if needed), no bloatware, and the best keyboard of any laptop. If battery life isn't at the top of your list, and you're not a hardcore gamer, this laptop will probably fit your needs. It's more expensive than the competition but, in my case, it seems worth it so far. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new Thinkpad X1Extreme.I am glad I bought the X1. This is my fifth Thinkpad, and I am pleased with the following: Weight, Display, Speed, Size, Keyboard, and Ease of Use. I had my last Thinkpad for eight years, so I was ready for a new one. Migrating all my files was pretty painless, with just a few minor snafus around MS Office H&S. Basically, I am delighted with my purchase. I had to get an external DVD drive, which was a minor bummer, and I will have to buy a USB hub, but call me a happy customer. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenova takes to much contol. The unit is good but substandard to our HP. Lenovo wants to take control of the unit with its software and what they believe to be the best way to setup the computer. This includes basics, security software, and when an update took place the viewing was so small I almost had to use a magnifying glass to see the print, Solution: Back to the Control Panel and reconfigure. My estimation is the computer is to make our work easier, not create more work that does not produce a benefit other than to fix what Lenovo broke. In addition their delivery was weeks late.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful Machine in a Thin & Sturdy PackageThis is a very well built machine. Reading prior reviews, I was a bit worried about thermal management, but can attest after using it that it's a non-issue on my machine (i7-8850H, 32GB RAM, 4k display). Body seems very sturdy and durable. The 4k display is gorgeous, but just beware that some older apps don't scale very well into 4k (QuickBooks Pro 2015 shows icons and buttons very small), and that HDR is only available for movie playback. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great laptop, but...Good computer overall. My only criticism is that the battery life is too short. My computer has i7 with 32GB RAM and 4K monitor. I'm sure the high end configuration has something to do with the short battery life, but I still think it's too short. As of now, I'm only getting about 4 hours.Other than the battery life, I think it's a great laptop. Keyboard is the best part - I love typing on this keyboard.4K screen is beautiful.I love the black matte finish. If the battery life was better, I would have given 5 stars. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just What I was Looking For!Going into my 4th week with this laptop, and am very happy with it. I use a Thinkpad P52 Mobile Workstation at work, this machine shows the same level of ruggedness and quality of construction that the P52 does. Performance is great, and the Lenovo support software is a big help in managing updates. I also got the Thunderbolt docking station, which is very nice. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great laptop but warms up and VR issuersI bought this Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Extreme by December 26, 2018.The first impression was "what a lightweight and thin is this Thinkpad".While updating all the software on the device the laptop kept warming really hotter every time on near to the battery, but I assumed it was due to be a new device and it has a kind-of first hard work. After getting the newest stable updates available, on my daily basis, the laptop kept warming up. After searching in several end-user forums found that this is normal of this model of equipment due to ventilation issuers which will be as long as I use this.Otherwise also found several "configuration settings" to kept it cooler, but they have a dramatic impact on performance, for what I suggest you have somewhere to put the Thinkpad on, that help it to lower its temperature. Also, the manufacturer of the graphics card through their app, GeForce Experience, said that oppositive to the advertised, this laptop is not suitable for VRApart from that, this' an Extreme Lenovo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Want a light quality laptop ? Here it is.Great laptop. When I first got it I needed to get used to the keyboard, but after a week of use that was not a concern anymore. It a fast laptop, high quality and very light. I like the fingerprint sign in option as well as the camera blocker a lot. I was amazed about the option for a card scanner. Also do not be afraid when your speakers sound weird. For me the laptops transport was at such low temperatures that it just too a little bit until they reached the working temperature. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A dream machine! This is my dream computer. This machine has every feature I wanted and frankly, I hope I will never have to buy a replacement. I cannot imagine technology improvements that would prompt me to do that. Most especially a like the feel of the keyboard and the pointer button which is in the middle that makes it easier for me to move the mouse quickly and accurately. I also appreciate there are three Mouse buttons not just two, and they are really buttons instead of the outline of buttons which most computers have today on the touchpad. If you have the money to be able to buy machine configured as mine is it will probably be close to a lifelong investment that will never be regretted. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best screen of any laptop I've seen!I've had the X1 for about a week now, and as is my habit the first few days I worked it hard with multiple apps and games active at the same time - if a computer is going to fail it will usually fail within the first 24 hours. Except for some contretemps with the Windows Hello camera - which was solved by a BIOS update - the X1 has been on duty with no problems. As above, this machine sports the best screen I've ever seen on a laptop, and I also use a MS Surface Book 2 and a 2018 MacBook Pro for comparison. The screen most reminds me of my $650 24" BENQ color-correct reference monitor with vibrant but accurate colors, deep saturation, amazing brightness & definition and extremely crisp text. (My model of the X1 comes with the 400 nit hi-def touchscreen). If your work requires a really high quality screen the X1 fills the bill. Also best of breed, the keyboard makes that on the MacBook Pro seem like a torture device. Pretty much everyone knows about the quality of the ThinkPad keyboard; it isn't the absolutely stellar one of IBM ThinkPads of days gone by but is still one of the very best available on a laptop today. In a shout out to the late great Stan Lee, 'Nuff Said.As for performance startup is the fastest of any machine I've used, and with six cores not much slows it down. On the gaming front I've only used it for incidental games like Candy Crush but as close as the included nVidia 1050i Max Q is to their 1060 I have no concerns about most modern 3D games achieving very playable framerates. It's probably not the machine you want to play Witcher 4 on (when available), but it also wasn't meant to be. As a business/photo laptop you'll have all the graphics power you'll need or want.Very thin & light the one place the X1 comes up short is in its built in speakers - I've heard much much better. Sound thru headphones is spectacular, however. The only real ding I'd give the machine is the fans which while not loud come on with irritating frequency at a pitch that is hard to ignore. The touchpad is quite good, but not up to Apple's standard. I was also disappointed that you can't use Windows Hello and the included fingerprint reader concurrently in an either/or configuration: you have to choose one or the other. Perhaps a future BIOS update will fix this admittedly minor irritation. Oh, yeah, the machine is a fingerprint & smear magnet, you won't want to use it while enjoying buttered popcorn! But that's about it for downsides. If over time the machine proves to be rugged and reliable it will be a great value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost perfect...to me!I'm reallly glad i decided to purchase the X1 Extreme over the XPS 15. One thing that I don't like is the throttling. Even after applying new paste to the CPU and GPU, the machine still power throttles. The existing paste was not applied well causing excessive throttling and higher temperatures. The CPU and GPU run much cooler now. Hopefully Lenovo will be able to release an update to the bios fixing this common issue. Other than that, this laptop is a delight. It's super fast, the keyboard is lovely and the screen is crisp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid performance but too many flawsThis review is based on owning the laptop for three weeks. Also Solid performance but flaws. 1st - the battery life is terrible; fully optimized for power conservation yields only about four hours of use. 2nd - poor quality control there was a loose screw floating in my case that rattled around. Turns out it didn't belong to anything; it was simply an extra screw that made its way into the case during production. 3rd - poor finish quality: the black coating is peeling off after only three weeks (see photo). And, the front right plastic top flexes a bit (making a clicking sound as I rest my palm). Also, I got the blue screen of death already (see photo). For the price of this laptop ($2,500) I'm disappointed in the quality. I expect better from Lenovo. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Shelf Goods Overall, Speakers Are AwfulMostly as advertised, certainly a contender for best in class. Had mine for a few weeks, configured with UHD screen, 16GB mem, 512GB SSD. Boots quick, Win Hello works pretty seamless so far. Screen is quite detailed, vivid although seems over saturated to me. To be fair, I do not know how to calibrate which could correct some of that. Also I've noticed top corner has white haze in certain views (which may be an issue with my particular unit). Overall, it is blazing fast. Despite reading several reviews that suggested fans were noisy I did not find them distracting at all, in fact in my experience it's very quiet, near silent most of the time. Lots of ports, battery is adequate, what you'd expect for a 4k screen. Just a beast...but....Now, the speakers are bad. Not just OK, they are awful. Combine them with the audio software that attempts to correct and the overall sound couldn't be worse if you tried to design them to cause pain. I get that most don't use them much but I do it bugs me to no end. 3k machine and this is what they came up with? Such an easy fix, cmon guys. As much as I like the rest of the X1 I may look at the XPS15 simply because I cannot stand these speakers, still on the fence. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing PC!I needed a powerful PC to replace my (stolen) PC while traveling recently. I'm very particular about the details with my replacement PC having to have the fastest processor, outstanding 4K display, wireless capability/integration of systems and due to recent theft outstanding security features at a minimum. Searching from a narrow field of high-end laptops, I found my match made-in-heaven with the 15.6 in Lenovo Extreme X1 reviewed here. Ordering was super easy, efficient with excellent and might I dare say beautiful packaging with a laptop that proved every bit as described and then some. I can sign on with face recognition, finger print recognition, PIN, number, or any combination thereof and the then entire system can be bitlock encrypted for my work while traveling with security rivaling a bank. They keyboard is as elegant, comfortable, and class-leading as noted in the reviews with 1.7 mm of travel and rounded off edges and smooth travel. I write extensively for my work as well enjoy DSLR photography, using now this laptop to process all of my pictures post-editing work. Lenovo has hit a very high mark and industry leading benchmark in making this wonderful device. Bravo! Simply love it. If you simply want and expect the best, then look no further then this gem. I was excited to get the increased speed and RAM. Yes, it is fast but... it is very noisy. The fan goes off very frequently and it is loud. The kind of loud that you really notice. I read some fixes online involving taking the laptop apart... but who wants to do that? Not me. Still a fan, but disappointed in this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing is a beast! It's amazing how much power can fit into such a small chassis. I bought this for video editing and it's just as fast as my desktop for doing so. I'm glad I treated myself to this top-of-the-line product. Why only 4 stars? - It does get a little warm underneath. This is to be expected since there's so much power performance inside. - The speakers are also underneath. This might be fine for a business laptop, but for my video editing purposes, I would have liked the speakers in front. As a result, they sound a little weak. - I can't figure out the color calibration, as the screen looks a little pink to me. When I go through the Windows color calibration settings, it just resets to where it was. I suspect this in an NVIDIA issue perhaps. It just sucks that it doesn't look perfect right out the box.All in all, this is an amazing machine. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice LaptopHad to upgrade from a Carbon X1 and there is no comparison. From the graphics card to the speed this laptop is top notch. I use it for AutoCad and Revit which are both very demanding on video, storage, and CPU power, and this Xtreme is just that. I really can't comment on its reliability until I have it a while, but so far so good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing specs and performanceI was recently giving this laptop from my job. I have a MacBook Pro and my work require using virtualization platforms and they consume lots of resources, which my MacBook couldn’t handle. This thinkpad is extremely powerful. It can handle my everyday work tasks and has room for more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its good so farI bought this about a month ago and it has been performing well except some glitches in respect to choosing the GPU for applications (software issues). It is performing well in other areas like the file transfer speeds; as well as the capability to handle multiple applications at a time mainly because of the i7 6 core processor. The 1050TI does perform quite decently for most games that are not too graphic intensive (like 4K). Of course it does not support VR since minimum requirement is 1060. This laptop is great for professionals in IT, engineering, and/or creative field; as it can handle most of the intense processing and graphics for applications like VM vsphere virtual machine setups, other IT software like Splunk or SAP, Autocad, FLStudio, Adobe products, Graphic designing software, and Animation software. I have only used this for a month; so a lot to explore and see how it behaves in different scenarios.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Forget the XPS, THIS is the laptop you really wantI’m a professional software developer and I’ve owned many high end gaming and business laptops usually from HP, Dell or Alienware. This is my first Lenovo and I bought it for development and light gaming. First the thinkpad line has the best laptop keyboard out there.. by far. The laptop is sleek, Lighweight, powerful, quiet and games nicely. My only wish would be a built in Ethernet instead of the proprietary adapter. I bought a 3rd part lightning adapter. I have the FHD monitor version which is bright and crisp. I don’t like touch screens and I would just scale the UHD version 200% anyway. The FHD games better, weighs less and has better battery life. conclusion: for development, portability, build quality, rugged strength and casual gaming.. its the best laptop I’ve ever owned. I’m tempted to purchased a second unit for my office.Highly recommended! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from so-soI think it has good bones, but unfortunately this computer has serious limitations in the departments of battery life and off-wall-power performance. The space is used poorly in the design of the chassis, making it seem like they didn't know what to do with all the extra space from 14 to 15.6. The noises it makes are appreciably loud, which I was warned about by reviews that I read. It's true, there's significant fan noise and so-called "coil whine". The machine is def capable of performing for many tasks and maybe these small grievances aren't enough to deter you. I think you should consider less power in a laptop and purchasing a desktop instead, which ultimately I ended up doing after I returned the x1 extreme. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Value when on sale, but not for list price. When it's on sale it's a good buy. Standard Thinkpad ruggedness and easily upgradable down the road. The battery life is not great, far less then advertised. It does have loud fan noise, but there isn't much that can be done about that. Otherwise, everything seems fine. The finish feels good in the hands. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turbine PoweredBlazing Hot Hand Oil MagnetAmazing keyboard and trackpoint. Runs very hot like too hot to use on your lap. The fans are like miniature jet engines with almost nothing running. My CPU core temps spike to 97C with a single chrome window open and nothing else. The covering seems amazing until it turns into a hand oil tar pit after 10 minutes of use. I can't imagine how disgusting it will get with extended use, and just who at lenovo tested this coating out? The soft touch covering is wildly impractical and they should just copy mac an use aluminum. Linux support is TERRIBLE with most distros not even booting because of the gpu.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The better choice for a portable workhorseI was looking to purchase a high performance laptop to be able to do resources heavy tasks on the road. As a past costumer I naturally looked to the Dell's high-end laptops but eventually decided to go with the Lenovo X1 Extreme - probably the best decision I ever made as a costumer!Stable, quite and gets the job done as fast as any stationary workstation. the only downside it has in comparison to Dell's highend laptop is in terms of battery life, however for the X1 Extreme it is very good on its own [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great system. Almost the perfect linux laptopVery powerful machine, good form factor, gorgeous screen. Battery life is just okay. Part of that is due to the fact that linux cannot seamlessly switch gpus and since the external display outputs are connected to the nvidia gpu rather than integrated gfx, I am pretty much always running on the nvidia. So that drains power. Other than that, I love this system. As an added bonus, it's very upgradeable and that's so rare now. This laptop has very little proper competition. Would give 5 stars if hdmi/tbolt outputs were connected to integrated gpu and there were linux drivers for the fingerprint reader. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 11th Personal Laptop, My First Lenovo...Amazed!I've used Lenovo laptops for years through my employer but I've never owned one as my personal laptop. Initially, I was very hesitant to pick a laptop as I was afraid that something shinier and zippier would come out as soon as I made the purchase. However, after a few months of research and online video reviews, I decided that the Thinkpad X1 Extreme had everything I needed (plus a little I probably didn't). I've had the Lenovo X1 for a little over a month now and realize that, for what I need it for, it's pretty "future proof". I by no means push the envelope in anything I do, but I do tend to leave a lot of programs running at once and I haven't come close to bogging it down. This laptop is so much faster than anything I've ever used before and the 4K screen is breathtaking. I truly couldn't be happier. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The display is great, especially for my ageing eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, great display and great value overallI have this laptop for a month now. The performance is excellent, never have any problem with it at all. The 15" display is very nice to look at and enjoy. It has all the ports (USB, Thunderbolt, HDMI, etc) that I ever need. Battery life is sufficient. The only drawback for me is the weight but for a super fast laptop, full size keyboard and large display, it's a minor compromise that I can live with. Overall it is a great laptop., [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machineI had this machine for a solid 30 minutes before I installed Ubuntu on it. 18.04 did not like this machine at all, so I went with 18.10. As with all Linux installations, some tweaking of settings was required. But as of now, all of the function keys work (brightness, volume, etc). Battery life is good, video switching works, I'm happy. About the only complaint is that touching the computer puts smudges on the black surface. So I've had to incorporate a new procedure into my normal "use the computer" routine: Wiping it down. It just looks cooler when it's clean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, but expensive PCI brought this machine mainly for video editing on Resolve. I ordered it with 32 GB of RAM and 1TB harddisk (M2 NVMe) and I have added a 500 GB extra disk in the free slot. I probably need to upgrade this at a later time, but good for now.The reason I brought this machine in stead of, let's say Dell 15" is that this has more ports and one extra M2 slot so I could easy set in an extra disk. What's more, this PC only weight 1,8 kg so it's easy to take with me.One negative thing is that they have switched the Fn and Control key. Something I don't like. It's easy to open up, and the screws sits in the back even after they are out, so you don't miss them! A little but nice touch! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly relieved. Very good laptop.Have been a Mac user for the last 5 years, but needed some Windows functionality, and Mac pricing is also occasionally annoying (but occasionally very competitive). At first I hated this machine as it ran hot and ate CPU resources with less than a dozen web pages open, I tried to disable every service I could, Flash, etc. Then I got Chrome with Javascript disabled by default, and everything was okay. I can browse a 100 pages again, like with Safari. When I need Javascript I give permission to the site in Chrome or use Edge. Also, disabling Cortana voice and giving a few hours for the system to build its database helped I think. Given Microsoft's bad security reputation in prior years and the fact that I sometimes read controversial web pages, I tried to lock down things as much as I could. As many have the said, the keyboard is really great, but the touchpad is mediocre, very noticeable coming from Macbook Pro. The 1920x1080 display is decent. Keyboard backlight is very useful. Build quality is confident inspiring. My biggest remaining problem: the suggest Thinkpad X1 Ultra sleeve DOES NOT fit the laptop, and I realized it too late. Windows 10 has improved much from Vista days, and I love the Lenovo power plug, which I thought would annoy me as its proprietary and not like the snazzy Mac magnetic one. Wanted a MBP with Win 10 partition but some similar hardware configuration was 4x cost. I have recommended this machine to several friends. Make sure to compare with P1 though. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Successfully ditched MacBookAfter weeks of doubts and struggle I can finally say that I successfully switched from 2013 15'' MacBook Pro to X1E. Despite rumors of high demand and multi-week shipping delays, I got my machine delivered in under a week. Paid 62.5% of what I originally planned to spend to upgrade to newer Apple laptop with same decent configuration. After about a month of usage I can say ditching Mac was right decision, had no problems whatsoever with Thinkpad. Really appreciate its "quiet" industrial design that fades away and doesn't pretend to be something more than reliable tool to get things done. Computational performance is fantastic, everything is fast again, makes me feel so powerful. Money well spent. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unbelievably light, thin, and powerful.there's nothing to dislike. works like a dream. there is only a little confusing thing about notifying the end of a recharge cycle: it just states that it is unable to continue recharging, even though it has done it's job. other than that a fine machine. Great specs, great price. Really like how it very light weight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ThinkPad X1 ExtremeThis is by far the best laptop I have ever owned. Its bright and crisp screen made working on it pleasant. The unassuming appearance of the computer makes it a perfect business machine. It is a perfect laptop for the office (where some high-level computing was performed). The computer is light enough for road trips, dispite its 15.6" screen size. The keyboard is probably the most comfortable one I layed my hands on. The keys are large enough to minimize typing errors. They are deep, like my mechanical keyboard (Das keyboard). Although I still like the clicking sound of the Das Keyboard, the X1 Extreme's key board is one of the kind that won't make me feel tired of writing. The only issue I have with the laptop is that sticky finger prints on the surface are difficult to clean. Against my company's policy, I purchased this computer instead of the recommended Dell alternatives. I don't regret the decision, even though I had to endure verbal harrasment from out IT. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Some Imperfections are PresentI bought the 4K X1 extreme with the i7 8850h a month ago and it seemed like the perfect laptop. Sadly, I noticed some flaws. The fans are unbearably loud, mostly because the temperatures on this laptop skyrocket when under load. Rendering videos, or even gaming can make this machine reach temps in excess of 90 C. After some research, I realized this problem can be addressed by undervolting the CPU, and even better, disabling Turbo. I looked online and people reported huge temperature decreases. I, unfortunately, don't believe this is a solution for everyone(including me).Now this is very dubious, as it may only apply to me, but applying a moderate amount of pressure at the center of the keyboard(around the "B" key), causes my computer to crash. The screen either freezes, goes blank, or goes haywire, and I have to restart(holding the power button) to restart again. Replacing the trackpoint(the red thing in the middle) becomes impossible because of this. Here's a reddit link of this happening: https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/absspa/x1_extreme_do_you_guys_have_this_issue_maybe_even/ Furthermore, the "B" key on my keyboard doesn't feel like the other keys;It doesn't press as well. It may be nitpicking, but why shouldn't I, knowing that this machine costed me a great deal? If this was some cheap no-name laptop, I might've just lived with it, but seriously? A Thinkpad? Typing on this keyboard was great at first, but after noticing these flaws, it became really annoying. Frankly, all this is unacceptable, given that the other laptops I've owned had perfectly consistent keyboards, and no crashing issues. I'm hoping I can get both of these issues fixed in the next couple days. However, if you don't have my luck(i.e, your keyboard's consistent and your screen doesn't crash as I mentioned above), and you're willing to undervolt, in my opinion, this laptop becomes of the most ideal mobile workstations. I've done a great amount of work on it, and this laptop has a powerful CPU that I want to say breezes right through whatever I give it. Of course, the i7 8850h doesn't compete with it's desktop counterparts, but it performs very well for something mobile. The 4K screen is beautiful. I spent half an hour right after turning the laptop on just looking at 4K HDR videos, because the screen is just so good.I really believe it's unfair to give such a review, because this laptop is actually very good. But it does have inconsistencies that I just had to point out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great laptop!Absolute love this laptop! I managed to snag this laptop when it was an absolute DEAL at just under $1500 and I have no regrets! For its weight, it's an absolute monster. Some people might say you can barely get an hour or two when off the plug, but if you tweak around with the power settings a little bit, I've managed to get 10+ hours hopping around documents and watching TV shows. Screen is very crispy, and gets very bright. The ONLY DOWNSIDE there is about this laptop (in my opinion) is that the touchpad feels a bit rough and can look disgusting after a few uses. A couple drops of oil or moisture can really show on this surface. Also the FN and CTRL key are switched. That might both a few. But overall, great device! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Defective machine out of box, NONEXISTENT supportMachine came with a defective touchscreen right out of the box. Constant "ghost touches" mostly around the edges of the screen made it nearly impossible to even complete initial Windows setup. Took forever to navigate to Device Manager to disable the touchscreen, then installed all available firmware and software upgrades. Re-enabled the touchscreen and it worked for a couple days, then started having the same problem again that renders the touchscreen completely unusable. Works ok as long as touchscreen remains disabled, but as an expensive upgrade from the base model it should work perfectly. Submitted a support ticket as soon as it was clear that the firmware upgrades didn't fix it, still haven't received a SINGLE response from Lenovo support or their ticketing system more than TWO WEEKS later despite escalating the ticket over a week after submitting it. Meanwhile, Lenovo keeps sending me marketing emails and asking me to rate my purchase experience, so here I am. Absolutely cannot recommend. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best power laptopI have had different Thinkpad laptops for over 20 years and the Extreme is the best one yet. The performance is lightning fast and it is so powerful that it makes light work of my software in both number crunching apps, graphics applications and even some games. The screen is magnificent. I have not had any eye fatigue since I started using it. And although its not a small laptop at 15.6" it is still quite light and portable considering. I had an X1 Yoga gen. 1 before this and the Extreme tops that in almost every aspect except weight. But that is not a major consideration as performance and the screen size makes the Extreme a much more pleasurable laptop to use. I have not had time to use with my dedicated software for multi-variable probability algorithms but I have already run some number crunching software with it and I am impressed. The Thunderbolt port is so fast that after this I am afraid I will be frustrated with slower transfer ports. In the words of my IT colleague it is "this baby stronger than our server in some aspects"Definitely recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great power in a compact and silent packageGave myself this little thing as a present last Christmas and couldn't be happier. A very long time ago I used to have a T20 (still IBM) that took me thru College without a fuss; so, I have high expectations from this machine. Compared to my last high-end system (15-inch MacBook Pro) this one blows it completely out of the water. It is fairly light for the performance it delivers and it is user-serviceable. This means that this system has the potential to last far longer than the MacBook Pro because I can upgrade the RAM up to 64GB and it has two NVMe M.2 slots for SSD storage. The keyboard is hands-down the best one I have ever felt in a laptop. I can type for hours and enjoy every keystroke. The battery could be better but I think it’s still good enough, especially considering I have the 4K screen model and it still weighs under 4 pounds. Under normal usage I managed to get about 6 – 7 hours out of it doing some photo editing, using Word. It can be charged using one of the USB type C thunderbolt ports (such as with a power bank on the go), but if you want to charge it in a hurry or need full power from the CPU, you’re better off using the supplied 135W charger and dedicated port (which is surprisingly compact). This is a primarily business laptop but it can do some light to moderate gaming. It can also do some moderate CAD and 3D rendering. But I use it primarily for software development and photo editing on Lightroom and Photoshop. It has been only a month since I got it but I’m very satisfied with my purchase and looking forward to years of usage. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Not as intensive games run like a dream, like GWENT on 4K.The best feature here for me, besides the keyboard is the screen itself. Glorious 4K, intensely good looking color and superb brightness. I can't overstate how much I adore this screen, it's nothing short of spectacular. Other cool things about it? It's light for the hardware packed inside. There's a fingerprint reader for fast and easy unlocks, also the display is touch enabled, if you're into that. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it.I have been using the product for 3 weeks now and am very happy with it. I bought it primarily for Lightroom and Photoshop, and am happy to report it's doing what it's supposed to do. I also appreciated the fact that it's 4 lbs. Next to my Lenovo gaming system, it feels so much lighter by contrast. As others have mentioned previously, the carbon fiber case does pick up finger prints and sweats, but it is a minor trade-off. My particular unit does whine (high-pitched frequency) a little bit under heavy load, which I suspect is coming from the SSD. Fan noise, on the other hand, did not bother me too much. Otherwise, very happy with specs and features. Oh, and I should add, less bloatware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So fastI've had this laptop for about a month and it is fantastic! The picture is unbelievably clear, the touch-pad is perfectly sensitive and the controls are intuitive. My old laptop had a 10-key which I kind of miss but the smooth typing action and the backlit keyboard more than make up for it. The hardware feels smooth and solid and I love the length of the power cord. My one complaint is the battery life, it does vary significantly. I primarily use this for homework so I usually have a browser and word processor open and at full charge I'll get around 3-4 hours depending on the screen brightness and whether or not I'm also listening to music, it does charge quickly to make up for it. Battery life aside, it's a great laptop and I love it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Welcome into the PC WorldI’ve been a Mac fanboy since 2010. I was faithfully devoted because my MacBook Pro lasted so long without needing hardly any work. As the quality of Apple products declined in recent years, and their business practices became shady and self-interested, I began looking elsewhere for a new computer. I honestly don’t think I could have purchased a better computer than the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Extreme. It literally does everything I need and more. The greatest downside is the heat level. You do not want to try using this in the bed or on your lap. Use it at a table, a laptop table for your lap, or something that will allow the fans to let the heat out. I do some very, very minimal gaming on it—nothing intensive at all. I mostly run professional software like Affinity Designer/Photo, Clipstudio Paint, Blender, and Logos by Faithlife. Everything runs smoothly and without any issues—though there is a learning curve for folks moving over from Mac. Anyway, I highly recommend this computer—especially to folks looking for a Mac alternative. And I would wager I’ll be with Lenovo Thinkpads for quite some time now. Didn't bother replacing the filter material or thermal paste to avoid breaking warranty. Some people report success with the aforementioned adjustments. All adobe software is running nicely, cinema as well. No excessive thermal trotheling so far, but one can' t really expect not to be any in such a thin body. The only objection are two tiny scratches on the side (near the usb ports). Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased!I ordered this machine right before Thanksgiving--Lenovo said three weeks to build/ship, but I had it in about two. I used LapLink to transfer data--I never used that s/w before and I was amazed by its simplicity and comprehensiveness. The next morning my new Lenovo was ready to go--an exact clone of my last one. I was using a Yoga ThinkPad, so I do miss the OLED--I would like the screen to be able to index up a bit more in brightness; and the fan is the loudest I've heard in years. Keyboard is fantastic. This is a bigger machine for me with an i7 and plenty of RAM--both have been a huge plus. So, four stars with decrements only for screen brightness and a noisy fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very good LaptopOverall this laptop is very good from appearance, easy to carry, size, weight, keyboard and display. The specification includes Reliability that is tested to Military standard. That is impressive and my primary reason buying this model. However, the display shall be upgraded to 4K the worth of this purchase. Also make sure the Chrome do not have many extensions and tabs. Otherwise, the cooling fans will be on and makes noise. The resolution is to startup Windows 10 at selective mode and disable all Non-Windows programs. The cooling fans are protecting CPU. When CPU > 50% usage it turns on. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smoking in less than a monthA few weeks after merrily using this laptop, I tried to turn it on only to find that the power button would not work--the keyboard backlight would flash, and the power button light would flash three times, but the computer would not boot. I tried turning on the laptop multiple times, to no avail. After pressing the reset button at the bottom of the computer and pressing the power button one last time, I saw a puff of smoke rise out of the laptop chassis. I have since sent the laptop to a service station for review. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded my expectations. This laptop is a beautiful piece of technology that handles everything I throw at it. From productivity to gaming, this ThinkPad hits a sweet spot that makes it a capable performer in both roles. This is my first time using a ThinkPad keyboard (coming from a MacBook Pro, and NOW I understand all of the hype. It's well deserved.
