Good quick delivery of pc but issue with unlocking Microsoft 360. Paid for and couldn’t activate so paid again for by purchasing yearly directly from Microsoft. Would but pc but no software from them as I thought it would be loaded on pc.

Why I got a ThinkPad X1 Carbon
This is the third X1 that I've purchased over the years, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. Each one has proven to be incredibly reliable, consistently delivering excellent performance without any major issues. The build quality is top-notch, and the features it offers are well worth the price.

Boy am I HAPPY!
I’m sort of retired, but still working, mostly remotely. I also teach at a law school, again sometimes remotely. I struggled with buying a new laptop, to replace my HP Elitebook, even though I really needed one. On the recommendation of a friend in IT, I bought this Lenovo Gen 11. Boy am I happy! It’s much faster, has more memory, and has features I didn’t have before. Very very easy to use and set up. And the price was EXTREMELY reasonable. I couldn’t be more pleased! You can’t go wrong with this one!

Good Laptop So Far
I had to get a new laptop after my chromebook stopped working at the end of the Spring semester. I did a lot of research and ended up deciding on a Thinkpad X1 Carbon. The laptop was delivered on time and setting it up was easy. I especially appreciate the fingerprint recognition option for logging in and the camera shutter feature. I believe there is also a facial recognition login option but I decided not to use it. The screen has a semi-matte finish to it which I love because it is easier to look at for longer periods of time. I set mine to night mode as well so it has been great. I have had no issues with speed or function so far and am happy with my purchase.

Solid with some odd issues
Very solid laptop, good performance and colors so far. The quality of the build is great and its very lightweight and transportable. In terms of issues mine came occasionaly having the screen blackout. it blacks out probably once or twice an hour and its only fro 4-5 seconds so it doesnt hamper me that much tho it is quite annoying and i'm unsure why it came damaged like this.

Laptop performance is decent, however, the touchpad is beyond cheap. I have a $500 laptop from 7 years ago that has a much better touchpad. Needless to say, I returned for a refund.

Never have I ever had a brand new laptop show up and not work. Started the set up and it stopped working. Maybe I got the prank laptop. Oh well I guess you win some and loose some. Hope the best for future customers.

Surprisingly bad
The X1 carbon is a much hyped laptop but in my experience it did not live up to the hype. Not only did I detect coil whine but the fan noise was excessive even though the performance of the Core 5 Ultra 125U processor was erratic, sometimes sufficient & sometimes quite slow running Windows. Finally when I booted a live Debian Linux thumb drive the performance improved but the trackpad wasn’t supported.

The laptops are underwhelming and loaded with tracking programs. The laptop completely disassociated with my Microsoft account after only weeks. The Camera will no longer initiate and the entire CPU seems sluggish frequently. I am only using this for Teams/O365/Outlook. Lenovo is prime to be disrupted. Even the ability to submit this review i received a message that an error occurred.

Powerful little laptop
Powerful little laptop -- a 14" display in a 13" package, thin and lightweight, quiet and cool. The few keyboard changes are welcome (Ctrl back in the corner where it belongs, fingerprint reader on "dead" key), while keeping the rest. ThinkPads have been my go-to since they came out, in large part because of the keyboard. I wish RAM was upgradeable after purchase, but 16GB will probably suffice for quite a while.

Disappointing Battery Life and Fingerprint Magnet
I was excited to try the Lenovo 14" Gen 12 Intel laptop, but it hasn't lived up to my expectations. While the performance is overall decent and the sleek black case looks nice, the battery life is a major letdown. Even with moderate use, the charge drains much faster than expected, requiring me to stay near an outlet far too often. Not great for traveling or working in other locations.
Additionally, the finish on the lid and the front part of the keyboard is a complete fingerprint magnet. If you care about keeping your laptop looking clean, you'll need to invest in a skin or cover to avoid constant smudges. For a modern laptop, I expected better in these areas. If battery longevity and design durability are important to you, I’d recommend exploring other options.

Overall, it's a very good PC.
I've used some ThinkPad X1 Carbon PCs for work and at home from previous versions and it has never broken down. The keys on the keyboard have never come loose, which is something you often see on other PCs. It's sturdy yet lightweight, making it easy to carry around.
It's probably best to just use the microphone and speakers for meetings.

I recently purchased the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 Intel 14" in Eclipse Black with the Classic Black top cover, and I couldn't be happier with my choice.
Firstly, the 14" screen is the perfect size—large enough for comfortable viewing but still compact enough to fit easily into my small backpack or briefcase. This makes it incredibly portable and ideal for both personal and business use. The lightweight design adds to its portability, making it easy to carry around without any hassle.
In terms of performance, this laptop is a powerhouse. It runs all kinds of applications smoothly and efficiently, from basic everyday tasks to more demanding professional software. The speed is impressive, ensuring that I can get my work done quickly and effectively.
The only downside I've noticed is that it isn't a touchscreen. While this isn't a deal-breaker for me, it would have been a nice addition. Because of this, I would rate it 4.5 stars, but I'm still giving it a full 5 stars overall because of its outstanding performance and portability.

I spent a significant amount of time researching laptops. My top criteria were weight and battery life. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 has delivered and then some. I've been impressed with the battery life. I'm amazed at times when I forget to charge it and think I'm running out of battery that I actually still have plenty of battery life. And in terms of weight, I'm always on the go. Every laptop I've ever had has felt like a brick in my backpack. With the X1 Carbon Gen 12 my backpack is so light that I've had to check to make sure its actually in there. To say I'm pleased would be an understatement. It is awesome.

Overall, I like the X1 laptop. It's lightweight and compact.
This one came with an integrated camera which great if you work remote & are in a lot of Team/Zoom calls. However, the camera is what is keeping me from giving it 5 stars. The camera worked great at first. It quit working after about two weeks. I have contacted Lenovo about the issue & am waiting to hear back. Will update my review if/when this issue gets resolved.

In 2018 I purchased my first Lenovo laptop. It was a Thinkpad Carbon X1 Gen 6. I was very impressed by the laptop for its quality, speed. Lightweight and ergonomic features. This laptop is great for travelers and non-power users. It's incredibly light and has long battery life. I'm coming from desktop replacement laptops, and workstation laptops where you can do a lot of heaving computing, but the device weighs a ton, and the battery life is nearly nonexistent. If you need a lot of computing power, large diskspace and tons of RAM then this ThinkPad isn't for you. If you need decent CPU, RAD and Storage, and you travel, this is the one to get!

After bad experiences with Dell XPS (needed motherboard replacement after 30 days), HP Spectre (display intermittently turned off), and Dell Latitude (battery bulge and extremely tight USB port), I have finally had a good experience with the Thinkpad X1 Carbon. This laptop has a great display and keyboard, works great, and is generally quiet - and I have sensitive ears. I use it for personal purposes and to play around with Excel sheets (I use Excel a lot for work.)

ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 Intel (14") is honestly the best PC laptop I’ve ever used — super lightweight, rock-solid build, and the most comfortable keyboard I’ve typed on. Great battery life. This model is MUCH better than the P14 the sales guy recommended to me last year. He was well intentioned because I wanted something repairable. The P14 was good quality. But this X1Carbon Gen 12 has great battery life in comparison and seems great in quality. It’s also MUCH lighter. The X1lasts a full day or more before charging. It’s also a very good workhorse.
4 stars because it lags very slightly when switching between multiple windows and spreadsheets. This X1 came with 32G and intel processor. The P14 from last year has 64g AMD…. The P14 literally ran low on battery in 2-4 hours. It didn’t lag at all with many windows and applications open.. So pick your priorites.
I handed my P14 to an other employee and picked up this X1 Carbon. The battery life is so much better that I’m fine with a minor lag here and there. My workload is exceptionally high. It’s also much lighter weight.

Received as a new PC at work, upgraded from an older X1. Like the i7 processor is a workhorse, upgraded to a 1TB NVME drive just for storage and adding VMs. I run alot of software that tends to be memory intensive for monitoring servers and infrastructure and this handles all of these requirements and have plenty of processing power left over.

Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 12 Review
I like how lightweight and compact the X1 Carbon Gen 12 is. I've had a Thinkpad T470 for the past 7 years, and the difference in weight is noticeable, especially when I'm carrying it everywhere. Despite that, it still feels sturdy like other Thinkpads. It is not the best laptop I've had in terms of battery life, but so far, the battery lasts for most of the work day. I got the laptop during Lenovo's Black Friday deals and was happy to get a good deal on upgraded specs, which are definitely worth it for running various data analytics and GIS software. Overall, I'd rate the laptop a 4.9/5 and hope that it lasts me at least 6 years like my previous Thinkpad.

I’m very happy with my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 (14", 32GB RAM). It’s powerful enough to handle multiple spreadsheets, Word docs, PDFs, and Office apps at once, which I rely on for financial analysis and estate planning. The X1 Carbon is very fast, responsive and light. Fast face and fingerprint reader. Ok battery life. Screen is enough for school work. Great keyboard feel and touch. Multiple USB ports. I just hope it holds up. The first unit we got had problems powering up a few days after using so I got a replacement. I got this because our previous Lenovo for our daughter in college would not power up after just a year and a half of using. If this does not last longer, this is our last Lenovo.

So far, so good. Needed a pc vs Mac for school and this definitely is better suited to what I needed it for. The facial and finger print recognition isn’t nearly as good as any apple/Mac product and could use some tweaking to be more consistent. Otherwise, works as described. Has a lot of nice features. 12 days old and the trackpad failed. It happens. Customer Service refused to replace the unit. Out of stock and against policy to substitute with a similar unit. Only option was to refund the purchase price but I had to find another unit on my own. So much for my Doorbuster find. Pretty crummy way to treat a loyal customer.

This is a great form factor and quality laptop. Love the windows hello camera and fingerprint support. The lid bezel lip is a nice feature. Has the ports you would expect. The power button on the side takes a little getting used to, wonder if it can be accidentally bumped, but hasn't happened yet.

I bought a preconfigured Thinkpad X1C Gen 12 with the IPS HD display, 32 GB RAM, and 512 MB SSD. Computer is very fast and able to handle significant activity such as keeping several browser tabs open and working within multiple Excel spreadsheets and running complex calculations within Excel. Battery life is more than enough so far, and it is easy to adjust power settings to optimize battery vs. performance. I plug into an external monitor mostly, but when using the laptop itself, screen quality is excellent, no glare.

So far the laptop functions as advertised. What is particularly nice it that it doesn't come with a whole bunch of bloatware that you need to remove when it arrives. That's a nice change. If I had one criticism, the power button on the side is not great placement, since you could be prone to accidentally turn it on or off. But that's pretty minor. On a whole it works great so far.

Pleasantly surprised with my new X1 Gen 12, but there was a low bar. This is my 5th Thinkpad in 20 years, and the Gen 10 only lasted 18 months - 3 hr battery, touchpad broke, integrated camera stopped working, and onboard mic stopped working.

Solid ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12
I’ve been using the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 for a little while now, and it’s quickly become one of my favorite laptops. The first thing that stood out to me is just how lightweight it is—honestly even lighter than a MacBook I’ve used before. Despite the low weight, it has that signature ThinkPad sturdiness, and the non-slippery texture on the case makes it feel secure and premium in hand.
The keyboard is excellent—solid, responsive, and comfortable for long typing sessions. I also still love the classic TrackPoint (“red dot”); it’s surprisingly efficient once you’re used to it. In day-to-day work, the laptop feels durable, reliable, and consistently fast, with performance that easily handles multitasking and heavier workloads.
If I had to point out areas for improvement, I would say the screen resolution could be better for a machine in this class—it’s perfectly usable but doesn’t quite reach the clarity some competitors now offer. I’ve also noticed the system can run warmer than expected, especially during intensive tasks.
Overall, though, the X1 Carbon Gen 12 remains a fantastic laptop—ultralight, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly dependable. If portability and reliability are your top priorities, this one is hard to beat.

Absolutely loving this laptop which has exceeded all of my expectations. I previously had the X260 and X390 laptops and really liked that small form factor. In buying the X1 Carbon with the thinner bezel, I actually get a bigger screen with nearly the identical footprint of my prior smaller screen models. This laptop is fast, lightweight and the screen is crystal clear. Truly the best laptop purchase I've made in years and highly recommend it.

Great laptop, good feel and look to it, works great and good processing speed! It has a really sleek build which is nice, and is INCREDIBLY light. The processing speed and everything is great (I got the 32 GB RAM with 512GB storage). It needed a ton of restarts while setting up, and some of the apps were a bit glitchy at first when they needed a restart to update, for example my mic wasn't working and it said that an update or smth was installed and needed a restart to update. I restarted and it works great! Overall it's a really good laptop for regular use, and I bought it for purely uni work.

Things I like about this laptop include 1. very light and not too warm or hot (it's the first laptop I have owned that feels comfortable on my lap), 2. the keyboard is comfortable, 3. the screen colors are brilliant and clear, 4. 32GB of RAM makes screens pop-up quickly, 5. the ThinkPad Universal USB-C docking station allow me to view 4 monitors at once (including the laptop's monitor and 3 external monitors), 5. it does everything I need it to do.

So far, I've had a great experience using this laptop! I've had it for about a month, and it has been running very smoothly. It's got great battery life, and feels very sturdy. The fingerprint reader can be a little finicky, but nothing too bad. When I first got it, it ran a little hot, but after using Lenovo Commercial Vantage to install all of the updates needed, the computer cooled down a lot. I'm looking forward to seeing how this device will perform over the next few years!

I owned the Lenovo X1 Nano before this one. The slightly larger screen on this X1 Carbon is a nice touch without adding as much weight or bulk. Performance is great, it's very responsive / fast and batter life is excellent for daily use. I've had the X1 Carbon for several months now and use it daily as my primary computer ... can't find a feature I'm dissatisfied with. I'd buy another one without hesitation.

Internal antenna went bad just in 10 days
Received this laptop as a replacement for my previously purchased X1, which lasted only 10 days until internal Wi-Fi antenna went bad. That’s why I’m giving it only 4*, as otherwise machine is pretty good and the customer service was excellent!

I love the size. Lenova has a very easy step process to follow when setting it up. It is lightweight, I work in many locations and this has been great. I have owned this for 3 months now. I did order the Gen 12 to save on money. I am not sure what the differences are with the Gen higher, but the 12 works for me.

Bought ThinkPad X1 Gen 12 to Replace Gen 6 Model
Bought a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 to replace the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 6 I'd had for a few years. Purchased through Lenovo website, and the agent was very helpful in assessing my needs and in recommending a model with features that meets my needs while staying within my budget. Bought during end-of-year sale, so saved 60+% off of list price. Purchase process was smooth. Screen is much nicer. Have double the RAM, and the keyboard is just as nice. Only minor letdown is that the new model is not as much faster as I'd hoped than the old one. Originally chose Lenovo for my earlier model because a lifelong friend who's had a very successful career in computer science told me that he buys Lenovos because they're so reliable. My earlier ThinkPad never failed me, so I presume this one will be just as good.

This is my first laptop and it’s great. I’ve primarily worked on an iPad and the switch for me has pretty much been seamless. Setting up the laptop is pretty straight forward and is guided through prompts. It is able to do pretty much all the work I have which mostly included word, docs, presentation, etc. I have some games installed and they run great. So far I have no complaints.

You know how it feels when you don't need to consider a second model or brand? Easy. You just need to work hard, earn the money and wait for a deal. There was a time when I would rather get a renewed x1 carbon than try a different model. That doesn't mean that x1 carbon is perfect, but I appreciate having it. Have one, test it out!

Perfect Compromise: Power versus Portability
It took me 8 months since my 76th birthday in March to November to decide what laptop brand, characteristics, and cost would give me computing power yet portability, my primary intent and usage to create web sites for the water industry in California using Replit and fine tuning using VCode (yes, I’m retired, but still feel the need to be productive.) At my age, shoot-em-up, bang bang video games are of no interest hence hi-end graphics unnecessary as well as touch screen capability. Likewise, I deal with hundreds of thousands of records using SQL, so Docker containers is a must as well as a Microsoft environment of which I am most familiar. What I create I want to demonstrate at meetings and conferences, so the need for portability, considering weight and screen size. After extensive GPTChat sessions looking at all these requirements, this Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Gen 12 (Intel U155 processor, 12 cores) jumped out repeatedly, especially for the price offered. And, it is now exceeding my expectations. Thank you Lenovo!

I have been using the ThinkPad X1 Carbon for a few months now. I had to resent the computer due to sound issues and it sometimes has issues connecting to screens Bluetooth. It is very fast though, and does a great job running the programs that I need it to.

Powerful and Light - battery could be better
I have been buying the Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 10, 11, 12 for my company for 2 years and have been incredibly satisfied. The devices are considerably better than the Dell Optiplex we used to employ here. I have purchased over 50 of these and have had very few if any complaints from end users - outside of battery life. Most of the team uses them in hybrid environment with 1-2 days remote. The battery is sufficient enough for most of the time going from desk (while charging) to conference room, or for traveling the day visiting clients or commuting. The downside is that with Teams and Audio/Video we rarely get 2 hours of battery life.

I had a plan to use this ThinkPad an AI to work autonomously in the background and make me residual income. Unfortunately life happens and everything is put on holds for the time being. I'm sure this ThinkPad laptop in the right hands would be unstoppable but like everything I do I go all in and then life happens. This computer is great. I am just doing basic browsing on the Internet and Facebook but this laptop is definitely being underused. In conclusion, I'm sure this is a great laptop. I know it's a great laptop. I just don't know what I'm doing because like I said I had everything set up but life happens. I got it at a great price and Lenovo keeps sending emails every other day making sure I'm okay so that's great.

Got as replacement for my ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8. Very much same with properly located CTL and Fn keys Only downside is that my Gen 8 had touch screen and this Gen 12 does not. Otherwise, just the generational improvements as expected. Still the best laptop out there

Small, compact and portable. 32GB compared to "newer" models that have only 16GB. 500GB SSD is more than enough. Supports multiple displays (I use 2 plus the native screen). I do wish it was a touchscreen like my previous X1 that succumbed to the acidic fruit juice (lemon) in a spilled gin cocktail.

Great performance from my laptop so far. And it looks great and is lightweight.
I do wish this model (14 inch) had a built-in microphone. Had to purchase an accessory microphone to engage in video conferencing.
The set up of the computer was fairly easy - I'm not a techie but Lenovo makes it easy to get up and running.

Expectations not met this far
I think it's a little too early for review , but this far the laptop gets too hot and the battery gets drained too fast even witouth using the unit. Considering this was advertised for 3k, and I paid 1.5k with 50% off , I expected a super high quality. The reason I chose this one was because I thought the battery might be stronger on the long run, not so sure about that.

I have been a fan of ThinkPad laptops since 2004. ThinkPad T41 was my first laptop. I had recently bought ThinkPad X1 Carbon for my personal use after carefully considering other laptops (including Apple Mac Pro). I am a programmer and a student.
ThinkPad keyboards are awesome for touch typing and X1's keyboard is absolutely nice. It has got backlight keys which is essential for a guy like me. X1 is light weight too. And the display is good. It has got enough essential ports. I am satisfied with my purchase. A nice product which has come under my budget. I highly recommend it.

They changed the ^&*(n keyboard
After 7 years of service, the previous ThinkPad X1 Carbon was getting unreliable, especially the keyboard like the Alt and Control keys.
Bought exactly the same machine expecting everything to be the same.
The Control and Function keys have been switched and the amazingly useful Print Screen key is now a fingerprint reader. I have to look at the keyboard to fine the F9 key.
It's a key I use many times a day in my work as a Customer Support Manager.

As much as I love Lenovo PCs, I wasn't happy with the X1 Carbon Gen 12.
First of all, the matte finish is not as the previous Lenovos I owned, it's impossible to clean--brings back the same stain or whatever. I my case to circles that I did not put there from day 1.
Secondly, the windows 11 on it was bad. They need to make it possible for people not interested in microsoft products to be able to setup without microsoft forcing them to sign up, etc.
Lastly, and the bad part was when microsoft bitdefender renders the machine useless, because without warning it locks the system up, requiring encryption key not previously provided. If that's the case, it should have prompted everyone to set that up first before the use of the machine.

Completely non-functional after a month. 3 days after it arrived, it stopped being able to turn on without having to do hard reset process each time. Now few weeks later the screen is completely dimmed and can’t be used. Completely inoperable and wasted day being transferred back and forth by Lenovo departments. I’m so disappointed since I had gen 4 since 2017, and never had an issue.
There is something very wrong with this laptop.

Have ThinkPad, will travel
This is a replacement (anticipating higher prices due to Trump's tariffs/taxes) for a 2019 ThinkPad that has served me very well. My only nitpick is with why Lenovo decided to swap the CTRL and FN keys (so that CTRL is now to the left of FN). I know that I can re-assign the functions, but I don't think I can manually swap the keys themselves.
More generally, I love the ThinkPad, and use it as my sole PC. I can easily carry it from my home office to living room to meetings. I do have an external DVD reader and a second (compact) screen in my office set-up. And the keyboard is fabulous, setting aside the current "improvement."

ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 Intel (14") has performed as promised and was very easy to setup. Windows 11 works overall well but now need to buy new printer because old one is no longer compatible. Folder setup takes some time to get used to as it is different from older ThinkPad computers but seems to be more intuitive.

The laptop itself looks beautiful from outside and inside. There are sufficient ports for connecting to external monitors and peripherals. The screen is bright and easy on the eyes. The laptop feels very light. The IR camera make face recognition simple and easy. As usual, the keyboard on the PC makes typing easy.
The laptop does not start up from the TBD docking station, I need to push the docking station button to get the laptop turn on. The location of the TBD ports should be on each side rather than on one side. The system does not wake up after sleep, has to restart the system. Tech support doesn't know why. The system once awhile crash when more than 5 tabs open without any reason.

My Second X1 Carbon Thinkpad
I had 8 gen and needed more speed/power i thought of getting p series and and T series but... x1 carbon are just built different and can't get enough of them..
I am not a gamer/programer only needed H processors but due to the dealer whom i bought from were abit of scammer as they offered 155H on display and laptop turned out to be 165u they said they can't refund or change if seal is broken also could not do much and had to settle for 165U processor but it works okey too.
Its very portable and in future if i have to buy another laptop i'd go again for thinkpad x1 series...

Best Laptop I've Ever Owned
I'm a court reporter/stenographer so I needed a laptop with specific processors to download this program I need for my job. I also travel a lot so I wanted a lightweight laptop that had excellent battery life. Multiple people recommended this laptop to me so I decided to give it a go. I spent a little more on the 1TB of memory and a WLAN slot so when I travel out the country I don't have to worry about WiFi (T-Mobile has great international coverage)
So far the laptop has been excellent. Sometimes it shows me I have 12 hours of battery life left. I can go a few days without charging it and the battery won't die. In my one month of owning it, I've never had it tell me the battery is low. The laptop is pricey but it's worth it in my opinion.
One blip I did notice is that sometimes when I unplug the headphones and something is playing from the laptop, the audio will mute itself and even when I press the F1 unmute button, the music still won't play. I'll have to go into the settings and do "test speakers" to remind the laptop which speakers I'm trying to use. Or sometimes I connect my headphones and disconnect them again and the music begins playing from the laptop. I can easily look past this but I hope Lenovo takes a look at it!

This is the second Lenovo laptop I have purchased. I think that says it all about how I feel about the Lenovo products. My new computer is fast and great to work on. I am happy to see that Lenovo changed the design of the hinges/frame/screen. My old screen broke at the lower right corner (I am assuming it was due to the pressure of opening the computer) and I have been using a binder clip for the last 4 years. The new design looks like it will work much better.

It's surprising!

Great computer with only minor issues
I love this computer - it's easy to use, fast, light weight, and the keyboard is very good.
On the negative side, I see two minor issues:
1) when writing a text, the cursor now and then jumps to a different part of the text and if you dont notice you will continue writing in the wrong spot.
2) the fingerprint bottom is not always able to recognize my fingerprint

This is my 4th Lenovo X1 carbon in 8 years. I have not wavered. Have tried others- Dell,HP, Asus etc.. but they dont work as well. They are clunky or not reliable.
Have had premium support but have not used it except twice.

Excellent business laptop with minor drawbacks
Overall a great laptop. It's a bit on the pricy side but the specs and performance are right what I needed with a very minimal footprint. There are a few minor complaints that drive me nuts though.
Pros:
- excellent performance
- very lightweight with excellent battery life.
- keyboard is fantastic
Cons:
- HDMI port is on the side instead of the back, meaning it gets in the way.
- ports (HDMI, USB, etc) are very close together which makes any peripheral attachment with a slightly large footprint incapable of being used while the other ports are in use

However, the fingerprint reader works 1/3 of the time and wifi disconnects randomly.
The speakers are absolutely abysmal. I expect more from a flagship product.

Powerful and Light - battery could be better
I have been buying the Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 10, 11, 12 for my company for 2 years and have been incredibly satisfied. The devices are considerably better than the Dell Optiplex we used to employ here. I have purchased over 50 of these and have had very few if any complaints from end users - outside of battery life. Most of the team uses them in hybrid environment with 1-2 days remote. The battery is sufficient enough for most of the time going from desk (while charging) to conference room, or for traveling the day visiting clients or commuting. The downside is that with Teams and Audio/Video we rarely get 2 hours of battery life.

Longtime ThinkPad user and the new version does not disappoint. Great display, quick startup, industry-leading keyboard. They flipped the Ctrl and Fn keys which throws me off a bit, but I'll get used to it.

In one year, the camera and Bluetooth microphone controller have crapped out and have taken extensive time to fix. Mic still doesn't work. Very frustrating for a business machine I need to rely on. Otherwise, it has been a good computer.

The Carbon x1 12 is an incredible machine. I upgraded from the Carbon x1 6 and I am glad I did. All aspects of the x1 12 from the larger screen to the blazing speed make it a machine to be reckoned with. I travel and the machine is solid and if it is anything like the x1 6 it will last for years. The keyboard is so comfortable to use. Although this machine is highly recommended for business use, it is well worth the extra Benjamins ($) for what you get.

I needed a laptop that could seamlessly run all of my work systems without any interruptions. After much extensive research, I took a leap of faith and purchased my first ThinkPad. Y'all!!! I was blown away! This by far, is one of the best laptops that I have owned. I work remote in insurance and am usually hard wired to my desktop with my work phone. We were going on vacation and I needed to have a computer that was portable but yet effecient. I got to test the ThinkPad & its capabilities while working remote from our resort. Not once did my laptop over heat or get hot. I had it on and running nonstop on the days that I worked from 9am-5pm. I was able to toggle with Teams and our VOIP phone system using the soft phone feature. I took/made calls directly from the laptop. I did not even need my physical work phone. I was able to take inbound and outbound calls like I normally would from my desktop. There were no issues except for the initial setup of my phone, but that was due to a firewall in the resort's network. I love how lightweight the laptop is. Easy to carry and pack!
Surprisingly, I was able to run all my work systems without any issues! My colleagues and clients said they could hear me clearly when I was using the built in microphone for my calls. Honestly, I love the ThinkPad and its functionality. This was a smart purchase! If you're looking for a great laptop for remote working, this here, would be a great fit! You won't be disappointed! Buy it!!!

Fantastic laptop
This laptop provides speed, plenty of storage and is lightweight. I have it hooked up to a docking station which provides extra connections to monitors, external storage and the like. Love the fact that its small and that I no longer have a huge hunk of hardware taking up space on my desk.

The laptop itself looks beautiful from outside and inside. There are sufficient ports for connecting to external monitors and peripherals. The screen is bright and easy on the eyes. The laptop feels very light. The IR camera make face recognition simple and easy. As usual, the keyboard on the PC makes typing easy.
The laptop does not start up from the TBD docking station, I need to push the docking station button to get the laptop turn on. The location of the TBD ports should be on each side rather than on one side. The system does not wake up after sleep, has to restart the system. Tech support doesn't know why. The system once awhile crash when more than 5 tabs open without any reason.

It's exactly what they promise. It's fast. It's light. It has a beautiful keyboard. The build quality seems good so far. My only minor complaint is I wish the screen was better (I got the IPS, maybe OLED would look better but I don't trust it). The screen is great! It works just fine. The color look great. It's just the classic IPS problem of the blacks looking washed out.
It also tends to turn on the fan sometimes when I feel like it's not really doing much work. But that's rare.

Purchased a Thinkpad Carbon for a faculty member. I buy competing brands, and the Thinkpad has the best keyboard and fit and finish of the laptops I've ordered this year. You get a tactile feel and positive keypress, without having to look down at your fingers to make sure you hit the right key! I also like the finish on the laptop; neither too 'plasticky' or cold metal.

Best combinations of features and capabilities
I have been a long time ThinkPad user, and when the opportunity to refresh my older PC (also a ThinkPad) came I did my research with the usual suspects, Dell, HP, Samsung and Surface (MSFT), but I came back to Lenovo because I found that the best balance of features, capabilities, quality and price was still with Lenovo. Aside the fact that I think ThinkPad has the best keyboard in the industry, and that I am so used to the Trackpoint that the decision was not difficult at all. So far all promises have been fulfilled, the device works as it should, and I am very satisfied with the purchase.

Laptop seem to run smoothly. The carbon fiber makes it very light, but also almost feels like much cheaper plastic laptops. The Thunderbolt dock that contains all the inputs and outputs is different, and can be annoying at times, but works well. Better instructions would be my biggest complaint. had to go by diagrams to figure out how to even charge it.

Purchased brand new carbon X1, came with a faulty battery from the manufacturer. Spent the first day troubleshooting with Lenovo service. Tried to get a new laptop by returning to Lenovo but they didn’t have the same model in stock and told me to keep calling back to check if it’s available. Not sure why they couldn’t just send it to me once they have it… Finally decided to have them ship out a new battery and have the technician come out to install. The computer now works, but I am running a business and expect to have a working laptop when it gets delivered. Of course I didn’t get any sort of apology or credit; I guess this is just the way corporations are these days.

Not sad I switched from my XPS 13
I’ve been a Dell XPS 13 user for 10 years. I switched to the Lenovo because of the great reviews, the additional USB ports, and the fact it had all of the touchpad features I had come to enjoy with Dell. It has a little more screen space and it is just as light and about the same size, so it fits in all carry-on luggage. I do enjoy the keyboard a bit more than the Dell. All things considered, I am really glad I switched.

Powerful compact PC
After having the ThinkPad X1 Carbon for about a month, I have found it very suitable for all of my needs. As someone who frequently does research online for their job, the large RAM space that the X1 Carbon has is fully appreciated, in combination with the Intel i7 pro chip. After reviewing the different settings on the laptop, I have been able to easily get it to run exactly the way I want it to and appreciate its functionality and adaptability.

So many changes for the worse
First the good - the made the case smaller, I like the HDMI port switching to other side, and the battery seems to last longer! Now the bad... They switched the Ctrl/Fn keys! As a long time ThinkPad user, I couldn't understand why copy/paste was not working - well, I was pressing Fn, not copy. Way to be loyal to the base - The new location of the Ctrl, while correct for most keyboards, is not a natural reach for your pinky - in fact, it is really hard to do now. While you can easily switch it in the bios, I'm afraid to pull the keys off and swap them. Next up, the PrrSc key is now in the strangest location all because they wanted to add a dedicated fingerprint button - dumb. Dumb dumb dumb. I use PrtScn all the time as as I'm sure regular users do - but now it is in an awkward location. Finally, the power button on the side - well great, love it, except that's where the light is - and 9/10 I don't know if the computer is waking up from sleep or needs to be powered on - so I have to turn the laptop on its side. The person who made these changes is also the one probably saying to get rid of the trackpoint - fire them before it is too late and please fix these issues on the 13. I can't wait.

A solid light-weight notebook computer
Everything works well. I am a little disappoint about the relatively slow CPU speed of 1.7 GHz. The overall computer speed is not much faster than my older notebook, a Asus Zen with an intel i7-856SU processor rated at 1.8GHz.

I recently got this laptop to upgrade my work laptop of 3 years which was previously an the HP. So far this Lenovo has been 10 times better the camera and microphone work better and I'm really impressed with the battery life and size and overall performance. Great buy.

Really solid build quality and nice details. I like the extremely thin bezels and the popout at the top of the screen that hosts the camers while serving as a handle for opening the lid. Also really glad they added tactile nubs to the keyboard, which helps with touch typing. Perhaps a little pricy given the competition, but my hope is that this machine will run for a number of years without having to worry about it breaking down.

Bad microphone, customer service lacks authority
The microphone did not work. After trying to fix it and couldn't with the service teams help. I was offered to return it for a new one but because the exact same computer was not in stock and my month was almost over, I had to return it for a refund. Its was crazy the customer service team did not have the authority to replace it with a similar computer in stock, but they couldn't. I will find another brand I guess.

With some effort, it does the job
This computer was my first attempt to move from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Not too surprising were the big problems getting the computer to connect to my existing WiFi printer. I will admit that I do not know how many more of the setup problems that I experienced are due to Microsoft or Lenovo. They made it very challenging to set the system up to be independently used by more than one person. I can't help but wonder if that isn't intentional to sell more product.
Once I got it set up, it performs about the same as my 4/5 year old ThinkPad X1 (silver) with an i7 processor running Windows 10. I can only guess that Windows 11 requires the extra processor performance and features to support it, compared to Windows 10 (this is not uncommon for Microsoft).

It's a good little laptop, I wanted one with more hard drive. This one was on sale, so my son bought this one for his mom. The best part is that I have support if anything goes wrong with it. That was worth the extra money spent. My son lives in Canada and I live in Texas.

Quick load, razor sharp clarity and lightweight
It has been a minute since I owned a ThinkPad. I had used MacBook for a few years. I have been pleasantly surprised at the quick speed of loading and the clarity of the screen. I find the trackpad different but the learning curve is not a bother. The Carbon Gen 12 is very light. When I first picked it up, it was like it was going to float off into the air. Getting to know Microsoft and in particular Edge has been effortless.

replaced system board 2 weeks after buying
Love it, when it is working. On Day 2 the laptop started freezing the the only way to get it functioning again was to perform a hard restart. I paid extra for Lenovo Premier service and after trying to repair remotely and the problem persisting, they sent someone out to replace the system board. I sure hope this fixes the problem.

Never Disappointing Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon
The Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 12 surpassed my expectations. The reason I only purchase Lenovo Thinkpads is because for many years (and many X1's) the laptop fills my needs for business as well as personal use in a slim, fully featured package. The ordering process is a breeze, the delivery is prompt. There are numerous builds to select from (I'm too lazy to build my own). I was surprised at the improved features since my 2019 X1. The on-site repair warranty is a life-saver and unparalleled, to my knowledge, in the industry. OK, I admit it. I'm in love with my laptop!

In a world of over-the-top bells and whistles, this unassuming little laptop quietly always gets the job done. I use Adobe Creative Suite for my graphic design work, and my Lenovo handles multiple applications like a champ.
Its plain black matte exterior probably won't turn any heads, but the weight, speed, connectivity, compatibility, and feel more than make up for its unassuming exterior.
Battery life seems to be a little less than other laptops I've had, but still fine for a day's worth of meetings. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Once a ThinkPad fan, always a ThinkPad fan
I have never owned any other brand of laptop except IBM ThinkPad or Lenovo ThinkPad. Though I considered a different brand when I was replacing a 7+ year-old ThinkPad, Lenovo still came out on top, even at a bit more money. It arrived really quickly and checked all the boxes on my list of reasons I was upgrading. Changing laptops is always a bit daunting, but it was easier than I remembered. I have no regrets with this laptop so far.

I have been a ThinkPad user since the mid 1990's and the X1 Carbon has been my favorite model yet! It is a great balance of power, display, weight, durability and battery life.
I once went on a business trip and forgot a charger. I was able to have the charger shipped by my company to my hotel, but this was going to take two days. By putting the laptop into an ultralow power mode, I was able to stay connected and perform needed tasks while the charger was en route. I even had battery life to spare by the time the charger arrived.
This is now my second X1 and I highly recommend it.

I have only had my ThinkPad for a few weeks, but I am very happy with it thus far. It is light weight, high resolution screen, responsive keyboard and touch pad. X1 Carbon always hits the target
I had forgotten why I liked the X1 carbon series so much; I was a Surface user for many years, but this time I decided to give Lenovo another try.
I’m absolutely happy to have done it; the performance of this laptop is far superior to my surface, it feels lighter and the battery last longer that I have needed to so far. The screen looks great and the Lenovo View functions are awesome. It reminds me to keep a proper posture and warns me of incoming onlookers!
I am definitely happy with this purchase, it can run Witcher 3 with low graphics at 30 fps without problems.
Not a gaming laptop, but an overall balanced laptop for work and personal use.

Needed to replace my X1 Carbon 6gen. with Windows 11 new unit. Lenovo direct was priced better than any other seller. Had the new unit in 3 days. Works better than expected.

Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 12
As a longtime user of the Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 7, upgrading to the Gen 12 has been a fantastic experience. This laptop perfectly blends lightweight design with robust performance. It’s incredibly portable yet sturdy, showcasing the durability Lenovo is known for.

Great as always, but beware Control key change
This is yet another in a long line of fantastic ThinkPad laptops. They are *always* fantastic. That said, I have one important quibble, which is why I deducted one whole star: A critical feature of ThinkPads are their great keyboards. Would you believe that Lenovo swapped the Fn and Control keys! It just doesn't work for my smallish hands. And, while they have a software switch that allows one to swap them back, there is no way to swap the keytops! This might be an issue for you too.

X1 Carbon, redeux
My 2nd X1 Carbon. Really like the overall design (touch screen, keyboard, weight). Only drawback is the slight redesign of the bottom row keyboard layout: Ctrl & Fn were swapped to conform to rest of industry and the fingerprint reader is now crowded on the right side of the row, presumably making the other keys narrower. Kinda gets in the way of holding Ctrl down with the arrow keys to move from word to word. Overall I am still very pleased after a month of use.

Very happy with my X1 Carbon
I am very pleased with this laptop. The display is very readable. The track pad is working great. I have not felt the need to connect my track ball. The keyboard has a nice feel to it. The case does not feel hot when I use it for long durations on my lap. The speed is fantastic and the wireless technologies all work very well. The battery life has been good.

Back to my Fav brand Lenovo
I love my new x1 Thinkpad, I had another Lenovo Thinkpad before buying this one and made the mistake of buying another laptop. I hated that thing. It started off bad, it was heavy and needed a screen replaced a month or so after I bought it. Little did I know the warranty started from the DAY of purchase! They sent
a refurbished one. Still hated it. THAT is why I, when I
needed another laptop I went back to Lenovo! My
new computer is so light, easy to travel with
and has a 3 terra byte hard drive. I love my new Lenovo x1! ??????

Small but Powerful
I purchased this laptop for an upcoming MBA program and to VPN into my work PC on days that I work remotely from home. This laptop is a powerhouse, capable of running multiple monitors, programs, and tabs at the same time with no noticeable slowdown. It's also very compact and lightweight. I love that the power button is on the outside of the shell so I don't have to open the laptop to turn it on when I'm plugged into a docking station. The screen, while compact, is very vibrant and clear. All-in-all, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Exceeds Expectations
The configuration of this laptop is perfect for work and personal use. Convenience features like fingerprint reader and physical cover for the camera as well as the multitude of up-to-date and legacy ports allows for any needed peripherals. Input from Zoom and Google Meet attendants is that the mic on the computer is better than the Jabra external speaker/mic I have been using. Loving this Laptop!

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon - Still the Boss
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon – it's like the business laptop that never gets old. This latest version is still a champ, with that same amazing build quality and that iconic keyboard that feels like home.
**What I loved:**
* **Rock-solid build:** This thing feels like it could survive a drop (though I wouldn't recommend testing it!). It's super light, so carrying it around all day isn't a chore.
* **The keyboard is a legend:** Seriously, typing on this thing is a joy. The keys have that perfect amount of travel, and the TrackPoint is still the best for quick cursor movements.
* **Display is a treat:** Crisp, clear, and easy on the eyes. Perfect for those long workdays.
* **Powerhouse performance:** This thing can handle anything I throw at it, from video calls to demanding spreadsheets.

Great work computer
I've never owned a ThinkPad but many of employees have. The last two laptops I owned had touchscreens and I thought I would miss it but I don't. This laptop is lightweight - which I love. But, most importantly my video calls are high quality, my image isn't jumpy, and the audio is in sync. I have already recommended it to others.

I Truly Got My Money's Worth!
I truly enjoy this laptop. I purchased this as a work laptop, and I was lucky to purchase this while it was on sale back in July. The keyboard is great, the visuals, the graphics, and the speed and memory are amazing. It's a very sleek design, and it has what I need for work, such as creating documents and graphics. The battery life is amazing, which is such a plus.

Nice except battery timing
It is a nice machine but battery time is not up to the mark. i get 4 hours in heavy use and 6 hours on avg. Rest is good.

ThinkPad is all for which I hoped
So far, the ThinkPad X1 is a great computer, but I am just getting started. I switched to Lenovo from using Samsung for the last ten to fifteen years approximately. Whenever I use their technical help I will know more.

Overall a good work laptop. The fingerprint reader is a little inconsistent at times, but hardware-wise everything works smoothly besides some issues with the Realtek audio driver. Battery life is a good 7-9 hours with an IPS screen.

A Stalwart Performer
The ThinkPad X1 has been a stalwart performer both in the office and at the jobsite. This is my second ThinkPad X1, the first has worked flawlessly in many challenging conditions from construction sites to boardrooms. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 is considerably lighter than the Gen 9 I've been using for the past three years, which is a welcome improvement. The performance is and screen also a step up from the Gen 9. The quality of construction appears to be very similar to the Gen 9 unit so I expect that the Gen 12 will hold up to the dusty jobsite conditions as well as the Gen 9 has.

Good but needs some minor Improvements
The X1 is a very nice laptop in terms of performance I have no complaints. I love the light weight, and the overall aesthetic is simple and nice. It's a shame that is has such a bad quality mic, I tried to record some videos for my youtube channel and I totally dislike. Also the fact that it does not accept linking to any type of pen. I had to buy a static type pen and of course this is not as good a pen included and tested in the original design

Having used ThinkPad's before, I was not surprised at the quality built of the X1 Carbon. The keyboard is as always as expected with Lenovo and the ease of usage made this an easy choice. Having a smaller and more compact lightweight ThinkPad for school business has made it a lot easier for me since I am constantly on the move throughout the whole campus. Good battery life for most tasks, including streaming conferences for most meetings and multitasking jobs. The Intel vPro has been excellent! Highly recommend for any business orientated type work that needs a dependable laptop!

Excellent REFURBISHED laptop - with 1 exception
Excellent machine except for the divot in the case - which was really disappointing - but it didn't affect the operation of the machine so I decided it wasn't worth the hassle of sending it back, as I had to do with the first refurbished X1 I purchased which had a touch pad that rattled when tapped. The return process was hassle-free, I just didn't want to have to find another refurbished X1 with the specs I wanted.

Flickering Display problem with the USB-c dock
I initially had problems with flickering display while using the display ports on the dock. After support from Lenovo tech team, we discovered that there was a setting in the dock that need to be changed. This discovery happened only after swapping cables and docks with a new one. I'm very happy we found the problem and fixed the problem but it did take a lot of debug time to get to the solution and multiple trips to the UPS store to return cables and the original dock all of which weren't the problem.

Love This Laptop
This is a great laptop. I was issued one for work and my thought was "great another piece of corporate junk." After using it for a few months, I had to have one as my personal laptop. I am so happy to have this ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 for my personal computing needs. First and foremost it is lightweight. When caring a tablet and TWO laptops, weight is a major factor. The two Laptops (both ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12s) are lighter than the darn tablet with a smart keyboard by itself. The tablet now stays at home since I can do way more with the two laptops.
The second major factor is Battery Life. This thing lasts and lasts and last. I love it.
By far this is the best laptop I have ever used both personally and professionally over a 30 year career.
