It would get the full 5 stars had it also had room for a VGA port and slightly more room between all ports, as connecting or removing one disturbs the one next to it. Purchase was well worth it.

What I didn't realize is that it cannot connect to 2 external monitors with resolution of 3440x1440 and 1920x1080 directly through the dock due to limitations. The workaround I found is to buy a USB-C to HDMI cable to connect to T14 directly, while the other monitor is plugged into the dock using a DP cable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from USB-C dock doesn't work with 2 external monitors I bought this dock to work with my 2 external monitors: 1920x1200 & 2560x1440. I used one DP cable & one HDMI cable to connect the 2 monitors. However I tried, the monitor connected to DP-cable always reverted to basic VGA resolution (1024x768). The laptop I used with this dock is 'Lenovo Thinkpad T490' and as per Lenovo's documentation, I should be able to use 2 external monitors with a USB-C dock. After struggling & spending many hours with Lenovo customer care, I returned it and bought a Thunderbolt-3 based dock which worked fine for my needs. Overall, it was very bad experience with this purchase.

I have used 3 different versions of their docks over the past 6 years with computer upgrades and this is the first Levono dock that has had that issue.

I have a both a work and personal laptop and this makes it so easy to switch back and forth throughout the day. I will note, that with my work laptop (Dell Inspiron) the charging aspect isn't entirely compatible, but I have been able to work around the "low wattage" issue. Not having to unplug and re-plug 5 or 6 cables has been a dream!

I actually wish it had more USB ports ... these days with webcams, ring lights, speakers, printers, scanners - it's actually not enough! Also, a little disappointing is that the HDMI doesn't work with my monitor. When I connect it directly with my lenovo laptop the HDMI works... but I got the hub so that I'd have less cords to disconnect when I have to take my laptop "to go". Still .. it works.

It has the options for adding a docking station and many other accessories. I have the docking station, a couple large monitors, keyboard and mouse. Many privacy and security additions too which are very user easy to use. I also like the gentle feel of the keyboard strike. Great value.

I am using it with a 4th generation ThinkPad X1 Yoga which I also like quite a bit. There was a bit of an issue with the monitor coming out of sleep mode, but it looks like a driver update for the dock fixed that.

I miss built-in SD card slots and CD/DVD drives, but realize they take up a lot of space. You can add these and other compatible devices.

The dock extends to two external monitors but the power button on the dock does not work to power on the system. I still have to open the laptop screen every time to turn it all on.

It has a two USB ports on the front that I charge my phone and headphones with. The dock helped organize and simplify my small at-home workspace.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ThinkPad Dock Gen 2 I had an older docking station that I wanted to upgrade as it wasn't projecting sound into my headset anymore. So I upgraded to the Gen 2. It's a very nice station with more plug-ins than I'll need. There are 6 USB plugs and several other types as well. The only disappointment was the station no longer has a VGA plug for my extra monitor. So, I had to buy a separate adaptor for my monitor.

Of course, it's ideal to use it with a Lenovo laptop that is compatible with this dock- This way you can take advantage of not having to use your laptops power cable as the dock will charge/power the laptop and you'll be able to turn-on/off from the the dock's power button. One thing I wish this model / form factor would have is the ability to have 3 external monitors (excluding the laptop's screen).

After about 90 min of use it used to lose connection to the speakers and microphone, sometimes to the external camera too. But the external monitor kept working. Updating driver and firmware did not solve the problem. I connected it to the other USB-C input of my X1 Carbon Gen 6 and it started working consistently. Not a polished product by any means. Look elsewhere.

It fails to deliver enough power to my laptop, so I still have to connect my laptop to power. Also the HDMI connection to my 2nd monitor works only intermittently, so I ended up unplugging from this and connecting the monitor directly to my laptop. I should have just bought a $50 USBC hub, it would have given me the same functionality this gives me for a fraction of the cost. I'd return this but I accidentally threw away all the packaging before realizing it doesn't work. Waste of money. :(

Periodically, the monitor I use for with that input disconnects. I thought all along it was my monitor that was the issue. But today, I just tried two other monitors and have experienced the same problem. Plus, this particular hub doesn't charge your items, so it honestly shouldn't be called a "dock". For the money I paid for this item, you'd think it would last a little longer. Very disappointed.

I would have to unplug (not just power it off) and plug it back in for it to work with my Macbook. However, after installing the latest firmware on the dock, it now works great with both my T480s and my Macbook! It was hard to find other USB-C hubs with this number of ports. I've tried other cheap USB-C hubs off Amazon and they all ran super hot and stopped working within 6 months.

I spoke with tech support and they agreed it was not powerful enough for more than one monitor. Yet in the response I received it simply said to reach out to tech support. When a monitor is connected, OS display settings list it as connected via DisplayPort, and the monitor itself is blank, as if turned off, not receiving signal. Tried with two monitors. The DisplayPort port works correctly. The speaker, keyboard and mouse (USB) ports and the charging function works all right thus far.

When it is shut down and then booted up again, the USB drives work. This happens every time. They sent me a new one and the same thing happened. Two monitors and a ThinkPad are connected to it.

Doesn’t charge the P52 but works well with extra monitors and peripherals. It DOES charge her E15 via USB-C just fine. Solid and durable build quality and keeps with the unique ThinkPad aesthetics. Now, going to buy one for myself!

I like how I can plug in one USB-C wire to my T495s and instantly get access to 3 monitors (at 1920x1080, Network and power/charging to my laptop plus my external keyboard and mouse. That simplicity is really nice. Also since it's not your traditional dock I can keep it under my desk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with my IdeaPad 5 laptop and 2 monitors. Lenovo has conflicting information about compatibility of this dock (Model LDC-02 on their website. Initially it only worked on my Thinkpad Carbon X1 Gen6 laptop but after installing the latest driver (Jan2021 V1.0.6.01201) on my (Model 15ITL05, Type B2FG) which has USB-C (3.2 Gen1/Gen2) port with DisplayPort1.2, I was able to get two (non 4k) monitors working along with keyboard & mouse and charge my battery. Display resolution is 1920x1080 on both with one monitor using HDMI cable and the other a HDMI with a display port adapter added to end of cable. The Dock does not support two physical HDMI inputs so I needed to add the DP adapter on one cable.) I did not update the firmware of the dock itself as I don't think it's wise to mess with what's working. It's possible this is just luck that I got it working. I tried using Lenovo's dock finder on the website and it came up with nada. (Lenovo needs to improve the dock finder tool as it doesn't show any compatible docks for my idea pad.) I found one old school web page that listed my model/type as compatible and then called tech support to confirm but salesperson said it would not be compatible and I needed to use the lenovo usb-c mini-dock or thunderbolt essential dock. (IdeaPad 5 doesn't have thunderbolt but that's okay since its backwards compatible). I guess time will tell if this has some sort of issue but so far so good...

This comes with two Display Ports, but it was a pain to find an adapter to connect from HDMI screen (in) to Display Port (output). In the end I got it to work and I am happy with the product. It is easy to use and no issues so far.

The mouse is jumpy, the keyboard randomly "sticks" and types any letter or the space bar and, if you aren't watching closely, you could have a big edit. I use wireless mouse and keyboards and plugged the dongle into the dock. After fighting with this problem for a while, I moved the dongles to the computer itself. Situation resolved. It does let me have my multi-monitor system up and running. I was disappointed that it didn't have the old school video cables but required me to get new monitors and cables to work as well. My third monitor would randomly shut off and flicker and be completely useless until I upgraded the monitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Garbage Dock Everyone in my office has this dock and it is complete garbage. Even with the latest drivers for it installed, we all experience ongoing screen issues. Screens just go blank at random times before coming back up, sometimes over and over before it stays on for a bit, but only until it happens again. Not to mention, it seems the only way to get a laptop to reconnect is by opening the laptop lid and logging in there. Problematic all the way.

I original was thinking about getting a full docking station since that's what I use at work, but this is way more portable and functional in my opinion. The only thing I wish it that it had 2 HDMI ports instead of 2 Display-ports because I have 2 HDMI only monitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These docks work great, except... These docks are great. They have tons of ports and support for multiple displays at the resolutions and refresh rates your employees need. There is one nerving issue with the Realtek NIC and Microsoft Teams. It causes a BSOD. if you go WiFi on a Teams call, you will have zero issues. You can also revert the driver to one that is a lot older but that is painful on Windows 10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from could not power my laptop I am sure the USB-C Dock Gen 2 works well with some of Lenovo's products but it did not work with a P1-Gen-3 laptop I recently purchased (despite being advertised as a compatible accessory). The docking station could not power the computer. After doing some digging this seems to be a known problem with USB-C docking stations for Lenovo. The customer service was fantastic - it was an easy process to return this docking station and purchase one that is compatible with the laptop I ordered, which I am thoroughly enjoying with the new docking station (Thunderbolt).

I struggled getting dual screens to work correctly on my E14 gen 2 with both Linux (Pop_os 20.10 and Windows 10.

A number of docks routinely flicker their screens or randomly lose their wired Network card. Lenovo hasn't provided any updates as to how to fix, lots of posts on Lenovo's site with no responses. My laptop offered me the portability when I traveled. My desktop offered me the power and expanded capability when I was at my home base. I put up with the cost of having two sets of software applications and the inconvenience of moving my email and data files back and forth between the two computers as I switched between them. As the power of laptops evolved, I decided focus on one powerful laptop computer and give up my older desktop computer. This year I purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga computer and I love it! I have owned many ThinkPad laptops in the past and they are my favorite laptop. My most recent laptop was a small Lenovo Flex computer, similar to the Lenovo Yoga. I enjoyed many of the special options of the Flex, but I missed many of the features of my favorite ThinkPad computers. The ThinkPad Yoga gave me a ThinkPad laptop with the flexibility of the Yoga laptops. An ideal combination in my opinion. Now, I needed a convenient way to attach all of my desktop devices to my new ThinkPad Yoga laptop computer. That is where the ThinkPad USB-C Docking Station plays such an important role in my move to a single computer system. The new Lenovo Yoga laptop could handle attaching each device individually, but did not have enough ports to attach all of them together. Not only that, but the bother to attach or detach so many devices each time I wanted to take my laptop on a trip or into another room would be enormous. With the docking station, I now only need to attach or detach one wire and all of my devices are connected or disconnected at once. When I take my laptop with me, my extra devices remain at my desk connected to the docking station, waiting for my return. The Lenovo ThinkPad docking station works perfectly for my needs.

However, I was unable to get my second monitor to work with this dock. I was running a native HDMI cable to the dock, it never registered. The USB ports worked fine, but the HDMI and displayport ports never worked. I downloaded the drivers and the firmware I don't know how many times, uninstalled and reinstalled and I kept getting an error: DP hub update timeout, please remove all devices from the dock and reboot computer to try again. I followed the steps, and got the same error. Went to Lenovo's support page and found several people with the same issue...but no solution and no word from Lenovo on what was causing the issue or how to fix it. I will be returning this and going with another dock. I'm very disappointed.

That said, I am NOT a fan of the lenovo docking stations overall, as I have had nothing but trouble with them. And, I miss the days of just taking my laptop and dropping it into the docking station and viola it works without me having to find space to keep the laptop open so I can my monitor. It is not user friendly at all and there are too many cords required for efficiency and to keep clutter free.

I have a brand new ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9 (20XW002BRT) and this 40AS dockstation with ONE (not three or even two!) regular FullHD display (BENQ GL2450) connected via DVI-HDMI cable, and moreover it randomly switching on/off display, sometimes it might switch it off completely, but in pretty interesting way — sometimes you get black screen, sometimes it might be filled with other random color (purple or dark-red for example), and sometimes it may give you some corrupted image affected by strong gray noise. And all of that accompanied by strong overheating of the dock. And, despite all other devices connected to the dock is still operating, the only way to fix it is to reconnect the whole dock to notebook, simple monitor reconnection wouldn't do the trick. Firmware both on notebook (N32ET68W 1.44) and dockstation (1.0.8.03231) is up to date. Rearranging USB-C cable to elimate bending as much as possible doesn't make noticeable difference. And I guess it's not worth to mention that I never had this issue while the monitor was connected to notebook directly via HDMI port on it. Also dockstation without connected monitor to it becomes less hot. The second issue is less annoying but still persists: when laptop is powered off and you have speakers connected to 3.5" jack, dockstation outputs to it high-pitched humming noise, which instantly disappers when laptop is back on-line. People are complaining about this issues for a pretty long time, but nothing changes.

Admarketplace is a full Lenovo shop and I am planning on replacing all of my Startech dock s with this one. It just fits and thats what you you want with technology!

I wonder if too much was being crammed onto the USB interface but when using the dock, the battery charge indicator is constantly yellow and it is clear the C interface cannot keep up with the power demands. Therefore, I have to plug the charger into the laptop AND have the dock power supply connected in order to use it. Also, I find the performance of other USB peripherals on the dock unacceptably slow such as wireless mouse and keyboard to the point were keyboard is unusable. So concept is great, implementation not so much. I will probably send it back or put it on Ebay while looking for a dock that actually works with my Lenovo laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Docking station for multiple inputs This docking station is perfect for multiple inputs. My flash drive, back up drive, second monitor, charging head set, disk drive, etc. Relatively small in size. Does require power, which is why it has so many available inputs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did not work with Thinkpad P-70 This had major issues. I bought this to use with my Lenovo Thinkpad P-70 laptop. The Thinkpad P-70 would freeze at boot time whenever this was plugged in. My P-70 is rock solid and I keep it updated with the latest Windows updates, security software updates and Lenovo software updates without fail and it has never given any problem in any way. This was possibly the first time I saw an issue working on it and that was not its fault. I tried installing the latest firmware and drivers from the official Lenovo website but that did not solve the problem. Had to return this. Bought a Lenovo USB C hub to replace this for much cheaper and that works beautifully. Not sure why this did not work with Thinkpad P-70. I had tried this with another laptop (Dell) and this had worked with it - strange! Very disappointed as I had paid the premium price seeing the port options of this and hoping for first class reliability and compatibility with my Lenovo Thinkpad.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid USBC Docking Station Lenovo's Gen2 is a solid USBC docking station that works pretty well for almost all use cases. We have been buying these for our employees for a couple years and we have very few issues with them. They are also really nice for other laptops such as Dells, and even some Smart Phones like Samsung Galaxies. These would get a full 5 star rating if they would change a few random things about it.. - allow the front USBC port to also be the laptop connection port. - add another HDMI port to the back. Having 1 HDMI and 2 DisplayPort is nice, but too many Lenovo monitors are cheaply made without DP ports, it seems silly to only have 1 HDMI port on the dock. - lower the cost. There's no reason this should cost $200. None.
