Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this laptop I love the design of the computer. Putting the HDMI port and the power supply on the back side addressed my biggest problem with my last laptop. When the ports were on the side, I kept having to replace the HDMI cable from the cable being bumped and the side tension causing the ports to loosen up. The graphics are great and the processing speed can handle my video editing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I hope it lasts It's a good tank. Haven't put the full specs to the test by any means, but so far everything is smooth and works well. I wish battery life were a bit better but I didn't buy this laptop with that as a priority.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Data Science Machine Looking for a new workstation laptop to replace my aging ThinkPad W541. This P16 Gen 2 fit the bill and has been blazing fast since I upgraded. Key travel is a bit less than my W541 but still sufficient. The Thunderbolt Workstation Dock has also made peripherals very easy to set up. This machine easily handles the ML models I throw at it in Rstudio and Jupyter Lab. picked this up for my graduate program and I continue to be impressed. The 16:10 screen is very useful for code and documentation reading alike. Highly recommend if you need power and performance on the go. Only wish they still made it in classic ThinkPad Black.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good unit so far A bit heavier and thicker than I expected, but I am pleased so far with the graphics and quiet cooling fans. I haven't had an opportunity to use any processor intensive programs yet but am sure it will perform well. My prior two Lenovo Thinkpads lasted 7 years and 5 years respectively- these are well built machines which I why I keep coming back. Customer service could be a bit better as I did have issues with delayed shipping (no notification until I reached out), then could not have the shipping modified to have held at a UPS location until return from a work trip- I was told a friend or neighbor could sign for the package instead

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenovo, not what it used to be... I am an IT person and order PCs for my clients and since 2022 I have been having an enormous amount of issues right out of the box. Lenovo just pussyfoots around and will only repair it rather than send out just a replacement. These are new machines that do not work properly. So I had to stop purchasing from Lenovo due to the continued issues that are not fixed. I will not continue to spend thousands of dollars on a device that is non-working out of the box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ThinkPad P16 Gen 2: A Top-Tier Workstation The ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 Intel (16?) Mobile Workstation is an absolute beast for professionals who require uncompromising performance, a brilliant display, and exceptional build quality. It effortlessly handles the most demanding tasks, making it an ideal choice for engineers, designers, data scientists, and anyone who needs a truly powerful mobile computing solution. While its weight and fan noise under load are minor considerations, they are easily overshadowed by its immense capabilities. If you're in the market for a top-tier mobile workstation that can genuinely replace a desktop, the ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 is an outstanding contender.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beast Machine. My initial P16 laptop had multiple problems requiring that I return it for a replacement. The replacement unit worked flawlessly. I'm VERY satisfied with the unit so far. It has a solid build, is noticeably faster, works well with the docking station, and I like that it can be upgraded on the user end. The P16 is large, heavy, and solid. It is truly a desktop replacement and a heavy duty workstation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Laptop for DJ work This is my 3rd Thinkpad and my 2nd Thinkpad workstation. I use it for music production, mobile DJing, and livestreams and it’s perfect. It handles 2-3 additional displays (needed to manage livestreams), and supports real-time stems. The screen is very bright and crystal clear - and shows up so nicely in outdoor venues. This is much better than a Mac (even the M3) as it supports higher storage requirements and allows 2 internal drives. I have a total of 5TBs of drive space.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Excellent Heavy-Duty Laptop The ThinkPad P16 16" Mobile Workstation is built like a tank but not so heavy that you could not take it with you for travel, but if you're going to take your laptop away from the desktop frequently you would be better served with a lighter version of the ThinkPad. I have a smaller ThinkPad X1 with a 14" screen to use for travel or mobility. Be sure to compare weight and proportions of the various models of a similar screen size to get the product that best fits your needs. The screen quality is very good. The keyboard has a good layout and feel. I appreciate the mouse with separate right and left click buttons. It was easy to set up with no glitches. Processor speed is good. This is our family's 4th ThinkPad. All are still functioning well. All of us like our ThinkPads. In addition, I have had excellent experience with two other ThinkPads provided by my employer for use in my workplace. In comparison to HP and Dell products I have used, the Thinkpad is as good or better. My sense is that this ThinkPad will do what I want which is to function well, be durable, and light enough I can occasionally use it away from the desktop. Kudos to Lenovo for another excellent product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid machine, but could use a few tweaks. So far, it's doing everything I wanted. I wish it could charge from a thunderbolt or other USB-C port rather than only from the brick, especially when plugged into the docking station, but that's not the end of the world. Battery life isn't amazing, but if starting from a full charge, it should be enough to get through a domestic airline flight, so that'll do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from not a bad laptop Not a bad laptop, here's a list of things which are regrettably missing and hopefully Lenovo is listening: - Ethernet socket - 2x more USB type-A ports It's a large laptop, there's no reason to not have added. Keybord layout can be improved as well by removing the numeric keypad (located on right side), and thus increasing the size of the buttons. -albertr

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did not work & shockingly poor level of support I purchased the workstation so that I could have an easy plug and work with my ThinkPad P16 Gen2 Intel 16" laptop. Hooked the workstation up to the laptop and my two monitors to see that it did no work. Contact Lenovo for support was sent an instruction on how to install updated software which I executed. The workstation still did not work, even worse it was into a loop cycle with only one monitor on for about 30 seconds and then the screen would go blank for 15 seconds and then show up again and the loop contacted. Contacted support by phone was told my email had been escalated and the regular support team will contact me in 3 days. Three days passed nothing happened. I use my laptop for work and I need two monitors, working on a single screen does not work for me at all. Returned the laptop, and was told I could not return the workstation because it was outside the 30 day window. All in all a terrible experience, frustrating lack of support and a highly annoyed customer who has used Lenovo products since 2016, looks like I need to find a new source of laptops

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mobile workstation for CGI artist I've been using my Lenovo laptop for three weeks now and feel pleasantly surprised. The reason for my purchase is that I needed an upgrade from my MSI laptop to a more robust mobile workstation for 3D modeling work. While most laptops run the programs I use just fine, when the models get into the 20-30 million polygon count that's when its becomes a challenge. The machine feels very high quality, from the keyboard, to the screen, to the vents in the back, I am really enjoying the experience of modeling on the go with this laptop. I am thankful to have this machine and I think you should give Lenovo a shot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed with display management Strong laptop with strong hardware, but it seems certain parts are not compatible, for example, there are issues with compatibility between internal (CPU) graphic card and NVDA graphic card. Given that I bought this laptop because I wanted to connect 3 or 4 external monitors to my laptop, the fact that it cannot even handle 3 monitors properly is very disappointing

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow this is powerful I bought this machine on sale for a remote worker. It is powerful. Be aware however, that if you are connecting to monitors or docking stations, check compatibility to the laptop first. We are currently having secondary screen resolution issues at the moment. I am expecting it to be resolved when I receive my new workstation docking station and new monitors in the next few days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful and Reliable Workstation for Creative Pro I recently purchased the Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 Intel (16”) Mobile Workstation, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with its performance and build quality. As someone who runs a digital agency, I needed a machine that could handle intensive tasks like video editing, web design, and managing multiple clients simultaneously. This workstation delivers flawlessly. The 4K display is stunning, offering crisp visuals and accurate colors, which is essential for my design work. The Intel i7 processor combined with 64GB of RAM ensures smooth multitasking, even when working with heavy software and large files. The build quality is top-notch, typical of the ThinkPad line, with a sturdy and professional design. Battery life is impressive for such a powerful machine, and the keyboard is comfortable for long work sessions. I also appreciate the variety of ports available, making it easy to connect all my peripherals. Overall, the ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 is an exceptional choice for professionals who need reliability, power, and versatility. Highly recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wrong and cheaper hardware sent & terrible support I recently purchased the new Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 for work with high hopes, but my experience has been far from satisfactory. First the laptop I received was equipped with an M.2 SSD that not only differed from the one I had purchased but was also an inferior Generation 3 model instead of the superior Generation 4 that I had paid for. To make matters worse, I had opted for the Premier support package with international warranty, believing that it would ensure a smooth experience in case of any problems but when I reached out to US Premier support about the SSD issue, they shrugged off the responsibility and directed me to customer service. Customer service's proposed solution was equally perplexing. They suggested a complete replacement of the laptop – an extreme measure for an issue that should have been easily remedied. However, the catch was that they would ship the new laptop top the original address in USA, even that I’m not there right now and obviously the bad laptop should be send there too. This would have been reasonable if not for the international warranty I had purchased, which was specifically intended to avoid such inconveniences. When I tried the Latam Premier support, it was the same unhelpful story. I spent a lot of time on the phone explaining the problem again and again. I even emailed the Latam Premier Support manager, hoping for help, but they never answered. It looks Lenovo doesn't really want to solve problems. The most perplexing aspect of this entire ordeal is Lenovo's refusal to simply send the replacement M.2 SSD to my current location. This straightforward solution would have resolved the issue efficiently and saved both parties a great deal of hassle. All in all, Lenovo's actions can only be described as a double rip-off. Not only did they send a laptop with cheaper, slower components than what I purchased, but they also failed to uphold the promises of their Premier support with international warranty. As a consumer who placed faith in their products and services, it'll hard to trust Lenovo next when their actions don't match their promises.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No ethernet port on a workstation laptop?????????? This workstation does not have a RJ45 port. Not even a slow 1Gbps one, let alone 10Gbps, or at least 2.5 Gbps. And they call it workstation laptop. I agree with the review of user bradomirov, workstation laptops should not be without ethernet port. Those should be beefy, with good cooling, and fashion things, like thinness should come last. Alas, in this case, it appears that Lenovo has failed us (the users). I really hope they will make some good workstation laptops, as that is what users want. And users want ethernet connectivity on their workstation laptops. Workstation users want performance. We care about the noise as well, but that comes second, AFTER the performance. We want performance and features. And not using dongles (thus occupying one of the usbc ports) for ethernet connectivity. We are yet to see if this laptop is thermally compromised like some other lenovo P series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strange choices for ~$3000 laptop Purchased through perks at work; Couple points the LED display is way too bright even at it's lowest setting and while I understand that is for visibility while outside the unit I purchased lacks both the WWAN module and the antenna leads. Its unclear which version has this but I assume its the OLED? Seems like there is a ton of wasted space on the chassis that could have been used for an onboard NIC but the lack of WWAN antennas on the non-OLED model plus the lack of a smart card reader made me return the unit. I might reconsider once BTO options become available but again for a $3000+ laptop to lack basic features like the ones mentioned previously is simply unacceptable

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenovo deletes negative reviews. Lenovo deletes all negative reviews. And there are many shortcomings of this laptop. I follow this laptop closely, as I have owned several previous versions, and several of other P laptops. Yes, I know that technically P16gen1 is like the first version, but it is just the upgrade of P15 and P50 before that. Anyway, compared to previous generation, this laptop is a downgrade. And even the previous one lacked many advanced features. I could go into details, but this will be deleted anyway. Read the reviews on other sites that do not censor negative reviews.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a workstation laptop. (a good one) Yes, its a workstation laptop. That means it's heavy, the thermals are pushed to their limits (under load the CPU gets to 100c), and the battery life isnt great (about 3-4 hours max). The performace is fantastic for a laptop though, and so if that's what youre after, the affromentioned compromises are one's youre gonna have to make regardless of what brand you buy from IMO. 4k resolution in a screen this small looks phenominal. I wish the IO had display port, but other than that nothing to complain about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just another disappointment. Workstation without RJ45 is a joke... I've had practically every Lenovo Workstation since the W540 and and I think my P15 will be the last lenovo product... It's been nothing but disappointment with every consecutive model, from overheating issues to poor performance to complete lack of understanding what the brand and model needs to appeal to, every consecutive lenovo product has become worse than the previous one. The whole design looks childish.... more of a fashion statement than a workstation... should have kept the same old design and features and just updated for better cooling and more performance. I really was anticipating a proper laptop to finally upgrade... Will have to look elsewhere now that is official disappointment is out...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wannabe gamers attempt at designing a workstation. Lenovo deleted my review from earlier so I'll post again. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't wait to return it if there's any symptom Powerful unit with zero latency during zoom screenshares like my X1 so it solved that problem, however, it was advertised as having WWAN cellular features but shipped without a WWAN card and I was told it was only "WWAN ready"- so I bought my own card and installed it, only to discover the antennae was broken and now need to get that serviced. It's too late to return this one but if I could I would. A lot of $$$ for a lemon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Could Be Good For You Depending On Your Needs OK. This is the first Lenovo laptop I've purchased. I ordered it with Windows 11 Pro, a 2 TB SSD drive, 64 GB RAM, and an 8 GB video card to approximate the power and speed of my former desktop tower. The laptop itself is heavy, but since it's being used a desktop power replacement that's an acceptable tradeoff. I've noticed that the cooling vents on the bottom seem to start to get covered with dust fairly quickly; that will mean that I'll want to blow away the dust once monthly with compressed air. *Now, a very important bit you'll want to read about Lenovo's ThinkPad Universal Thunderbolt 4 Smart Dock. This is my exact review shown on the website where I purchased the dock, and is about the dock: Using Lenovo's own tech recommendations and support, this dock was connected to a *new* ThinkPad. I've had lots of problems with it. The displays sometimes freeze and I can't log in. And from a cold start to (two 27" HD) working displays takes 4 to 5 minutes, when it actually works without incident. Today when I came back to my desk after being away from several hours, only one of the two displays present was working. The machine had to be rebooted so the dock would show the second display. The only reason I’ll keep the dock and try and work with it is because Lenovo won’t have any excuses to try and point to another company’s dock as a source of any problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just a toy and not a workstation I'm looking for a replacement for my 17" ThinkPad mobile workstation. This machine here seems to be the closest hat Lenovo can offer me. But with this small display and no RJ45 ethernet port it's just a toy and not a mobile workstation. Anyone buying such a beast will never care about weight or the size in the bag, it's always about raw power and the biggest possible display size. Either Lenovo will shortly bring a P17 with current processor or - even better - an P18 with 18" 16:10 display, or I'm forced to switch brand. There's a big manufacturer that offers a modern 17,3" mobile workstation right now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Latest models are missing your traditional IBM kbd I've had a dozen ThinkPads from when it was IBM to a P51 I got just a few years ago. IMHO your best feature is your IBM keyboard. I wanted to upgrade the P51 to a new laptop, but I can't find a model that combines the fastest CPUs like the i9 13980hx with the traditional IBM keyboard. The IBM keyboard is the reason I have been buying Lenovo. Without it, Lenovo has no differentiation from Dell or HP. I hope someone in Product Management reads this to understand how important your unique keyboard is to your customers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A true heavyweight This machine is a definite workhorse. I've had some hardware compatibility issues, but nothing that amounts to more than an annoyance. I only wish that I had read the physical specs a little more as it is a massive laptop which, in my opinion, stretches the definition of the word mobile. It works for me, but it isn't a device I would purchase for most of my users.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Unit The P16 is a really nice Work Station. It is pretty heavy when I took it out of the box. I like how it has the fingerprint unlock on the power button and the screen is very clear. It’s been working flawlessly since I received it but I still have a few upgrades in mind. I’m going to upgrade the memory to 128gb and the Storage to 4TB. If you’re going to be using a Lenovo Docking Station make sure it can provide enough power to the laptop because the P16 battery provides 170W.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable and Better Than Expected It’s a good computer. It hasn’t given me any issues so far, and I’m really glad I purchased it. I originally got it after a freak water-damage accident with my last laptop, but this one has been a great replacement. It’s bigger than I expected, but I don’t have any complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bad builds happen, bad customer service shouldn't. I am a long-time fan of Lenovo and have used several throughout my career. I purchased this laptop on May 13, 2024 and, unfortunately, this laptop was defective (blue screen issues and other issues with a couple of weeks). I called to see about a replacement (June 13, 2024) and was told that one isn't in stock, so I'll need to return it and buy something else. Since I use it for work, being without a laptop for days or weeks really isn't an option. I tried different avenues to resolve (including finding the identical machine on the website available for sale). Called customer service back and was told I was outside of my return window. I asked that since I started the process while inside the return window and it was now available, could Lenovo make an exception and send me the replacement and I could return the defective one once I received the replacement (I didn't think this was an unreasonable request). However, I was then told that the site was wrong and there is nothing in inventory, so, Lenovo's solution is, again, to disrupt my business for their convenience. Truly disappointing and, sadly, I will need to go to a different brand after this experience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power Meets Precision = Mobile Workstation As a packaging designer, I live in a world where millimeters matter, renders need to be razor-sharp, and clients expect "wow" at first glance. I needed a mobile workstation that could keep up with my 3D CAD software, heavy rendering, and multitasking madness—and Lenovo delivered like a boss. My Lenovo mobile workstation is more than a laptop. It’s my portable studio, my design lab, and my deadline-saving sidekick. Whether I’m prototyping an eco-friendly snack box or engineering a high-end perfume package, this machine handles it all—without crashing, lagging, or sounding like it’s about to lift off. The GPU? A dream for rendering in real-time. The processor? Fast enough to make coffee nervous. And the battery? Let’s just say I’ve taken meetings from coffee shops, trains, and even a park bench—still designing in 3D like I’m at my desk. Plus, that crisp, color-accurate display? Chef’s kiss. My clients see exactly what I see—vibrant, pixel-perfect prototypes that help close deals faster. Lenovo didn’t just give me a workstation—they gave me creative freedom on the go. If packaging is the silent salesman, this machine is the master behind the curtain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Limited Review, But Another Great Lenovo Machine Purchased this for a client needing a mobile workstation for revit and 3D modeling applications. I only had limited use during setup and deployment but for the little bit of time i used it i really liked it. It has a screen typical of Lenovo which is a more matte finish and not as clean or bright as other laptops however it is responsive and easy on the eyes... The keyboard and trackpad were both very nice and smooth. The large trackpad was responsive and did not seem to miss much when moving around and the keyboard keys feel robust and smooth without being clunky or cheap feeling so that i really liked. The only thing i can say that i wasn't expecting was the weight of this beast. It is certainly a thick machine and heavier than most but for a workstation it is to be expected... I did get used to the weight and feel of it after the first day so that i think was just being used to typical slim and light laptops. Overall i thought it was a great choice for the price, and i am a big lenovo fan so it is nice to see their quality and durability still being top notch even in a cost effective workstation setup... Although my use of this one was limited i will keep in touch with the client as they begin to use it daily and update this review if possible as i get more real world feedback on it from the field.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Limited RAM Speed Options -- Missing XMP 3.0 I just got my P16 Gen 2 in and there are a couple of oddities. I was surprised that it did not have a LAN port but this is easily corrected by using a USB to LAN adapter or a docking station. I checked and the LAN connection does work when docked. What is bugging me about this high powered laptop right now is that it does not support Intel XMP 3.0 so as you add more RAM the speed of the RAM gets reduced. This is a known issue that XMP 3.0 was designed to work around by safely over-clocking RAM that is also designed for XMP 3.0 to bring it back up the rated speed. Without XMP, you can only run up to 16GB DDR5 @ 5200, Up to 48 GB @4800, Up to 64 GB @4000 and anything over is limited at 3600. I purchased 128 GB of 5600 CL40 to increase memory in my system. Now I have to run tests to see what that does to my application. Hopefully, the rest of the system is fast enough I won't notice. I don't know if the reduced speeds translate to even lower throughput due to the potentially magnified effects of a higher CL on higher speed RAM. I may have to return the memory I bought and stick with 4800 RAM CL 34 since that might actually run faster. I hope I'm splitting hairs on the memory speed but it's logical to assume that 5600 CL40 would run faster than 3600 CL38 or CL40 and be a noticeable difference. XMP 3.0 would have been very nice to have and logical for this workstation. BTW the brightness and range of brightness on my screen is fine (WQUXGA 3840x2400 non-touch 800 nits).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fuzzy 4K OLED Display will drive you crazy! The build quality was good but the 4K OLED display was terrible. The resolution was good but there was a diamond pattern that overlayed the display and made things look fuzzy. It was particularly bad in white and lighter color solid block areas. Would not recommend using for visual media development or viewing. Initially I thought it was a defect in the display so had a replacement sent but the replacement had the same problem. So ended up returning the computer and purchased another laptop with 4k display from different company that did not have the diamond pattern overlay on the screen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This mobile workstation is a true powerhouse. I recently purchased the ThinkPad P16 Gen 2, marking my second purchase from Lenovo after owning the P51 for over four years. I couldn’t be more satisfied with my decision; this mobile workstation is a true powerhouse. Performance: The Intel processor delivers lightning-fast performance, effortlessly handling heavy applications and multitasking. I’ve used it for everything from graphic design to data analysis, and it has never faltered. Display: While I don’t use the laptop screen as I prefer to work with two external monitors connected through the ThinkPad Docking Station, I can say the laptop's display is vibrant and sharp for those who do. It offers excellent color accuracy, making it ideal for various tasks. Build Quality: True to ThinkPad’s reputation, the build quality is exceptional. The keyboard is comfortable for long typing sessions, and the trackpad is responsive. Plus, the durability of the chassis gives me confidence in its longevity. Portability: Despite its power, it’s relatively lightweight and easy to carry around. The battery life is impressive as well, allowing me to work on the go without constantly searching for an outlet. Connectivity: The array of ports is fantastic, providing flexibility for connecting various devices. I appreciate the inclusion of USB-C, HDMI, and Ethernet ports, which cater to my diverse needs. Overall, the ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 is an outstanding choice for anyone in need of a reliable and powerful mobile workstation. Having had a great experience with the P51, I can confidently say this model is even better. It combines performance, quality, and portability seamlessly, making it a worthy investment. Highly recommended!
