The hand strap in the back is unexpectedly useful, and I like the overall rugged look and feel it gives my new X12. Would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome case, love that Lenovo sells their own I'm so glad I got this case with my X12 - it seems really tough and functional and the price was very reasonable, especially considering I can't imagine Lenovo sells a ton of these. The X12 seems like a somewhat niche product in general, so it's nice to see they don't gouge you just because they can (I'd be surprised if there are ANY other cases on the market for this tablet). On top of the excellent design and price, Lenovo deserves serious credit for providing a functional case for their device - I wish more manufacturers would go this route, instead of relying on 3rd-parties. I've previously had 2 Surface tablets and used UAG's "Scout" case, which is the same idea as the X12 case. The differences are that the X12 case feels a little nicer (slightly softer rubber), is a little more streamlined (the silicone hand strap is flush unlike UAG's bulky velcro straps) and it has a superior keyboard retention design. It has a deep front lip that allows the keyboard (which is included with the tablet) to snap into place when closed. This makes the whole setup a lot more secure than the floppy typecovers Microsoft sells. The fact that Lenovo offers this case really was a big part of my purchasing decision for the X12. I know I'm not always as careful with my devices as I probably should be, so I definitely benefit from this sort of protection (even if just for peace of mind). Thinkpads are famously pretty tough to begin with but the X12 is mostly screen after all... with a case like this, I really just don't have to worry about it. Plus, I really like the super-durable, rugged aesthetic, which is classic Thinkpad stuff. If you are getting an X12 or already have one, I cannot recommend this case enough. In fact, I might buy a second just to have a backup!

What’s worse, its back panel blocks the passive heat exchange between the tablet body and the outside air. And it substantially increases the weight of the tablet; this makes it harder to use it on the lap with a magnetically attached keyboard, as the magnets are rather weak and the tablet tends to tip over. As I understand, the case is made by Targus on behalf of Lenovo. I’ve seen some excellent Targus cases in the past, but this model needs to be improved. In any case, this product is still very useful for professionals on the go: doctors, etc. And I’d like to commend Lenovo for releasing this niche product at an affordable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost perfect X12 bumper case The case is a bumper style that fits the X12 well including the keyboard which is captured securely enough and does not seem likely to come loose. I need to pull the pen tab holder to get the keyboard out of the bumper case. There is a touch pen holder at the top of the case. The cutouts are good, but I do have some USB-C connectors that won't sit in far enough to work (combination of short male plug and wide connector body) - others are fine. The Kensington Lock hole cutout won't work at all with my (brand name) Kensington Lock. Overall it's a good case.

It doesn't show on the pictures but you can use the keyboard with the case on, it also locks in place when properly closed. Sturdy case material. Rubber handles is a great plus on a tablet mode. Highly recommended.

Particularly, I like the anti-vibration material and structure. It also protects the back camera. It matches the X12 very well, physically and functionally. Last but not least, it wouldn’t block anything, from the kickstand, to magnetic connection of the keyboard, to venting. Highly recommended.

A weatherproof case is what I was looking for, but this was the only one I could find for this laptop.

First make the whole larger for the back camera so that you could put a shutter on it and actually operate the shutter (I added a stick on shutter but it's always closed because it's almost impossible to open through the opening in the case). Second put a hole in the power switch so you can see the little power light on the switch and know when you've actually pressed it successfully. The tablet is slow to wake up and sometimes I'm not sure whether I've successfully pressed the button

I wish the hand strap was not so close to the rear camera, but they didn't have a lot of options while also working around the kick stand. Unfortunately, I will be returning this because the x12 I ordered that was supposed to arrive in early July got delayed until December! Canceling that!

The thick corners prevent the tablet from touching the surface when you are placing it on the table. That pen holder at the top is a much better design than the one on the right side. The strap on the back of the case does seem reliable.

Another reviewer questioned the drop protection yet mentioned a height beyond the 80cm (~2 1/2 feet) advertised in the description. I think the case could help your TP to survive from 80cm. But, it doesn't surround the keyboard surface, so with any serious drop you could still get scratches if it settles to the keyboard or screen side. This isn't the protection you should rely on for carrying around outside home or work (i.e. you still want a padded case or backpack). Also, I'd recommend storing the pen somewhere safer when you are traveling so you don't break or lose it.

I dropped my idea pad and the battery won’t hold a charge anymore, so decided to give this a try. I like the rugged features of the think pad, but this tablet version with a light and adjustable keyboard is the best! The kickstand on the tablet makes for a wide range of positioning on your lap, and the tablet pen is more useful than I thought it would be. Enjoying this new purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Case's Benefits for Me I am a student at the time of this review. First, it is great that this case still allows the keyboard to be detached and reattached and for the kickstand to be used. The keyboard locks into the case slightly when it is shut onto the laptop, which makes it a little more securely shut. The only minor issue I have with the case is that the kickstand cannot be accessed/opened from the devices right side. The case has a slot to store the stylus with, so it can be carried around with the device instead of the detachable keyboard. The elastic strap on the detachable keyboard is still usable with the case on too. For me the case made using the volume rocker buttons on the device's right side easier. The case has a large rubber strap on the back that provides a more secure way of holding the device, which is nice because the case does add a little to the over weight. Lastly, the case feels sturdy, and raises the device up slightly when it is laid on flat surfaces. Those qualities have made me more comfortable laying the device flat on small desks when taking notes because of both the added stability and the added protection.

I usually use UAG cases for 2-in-1's but they don't make one for the X12 Detachable. I like that this case allows for the use of the built-in kickstand... other cases I've used add their own kickstand to the back that only has an open or close position. This case allows you to adjust the tilt the same as you would without a case on. It is rugged and light weight. Not too bulky. The way the keyboard snugs into the case makes provides good protection all around... I don't feel like I have to then put my X12 in a laptop sleeve before putting it in a bag with other items like I would with a Surface Pro in a UAG case. My only complaints are regarding the hand-strap: (1) it is at a fixed angle (you can't rotate it) and (2) if you put your fingers all the way through the strap it will obscure the world-facing camera unless you make an effort to hod your fingers out of the way.

I don't like that the kickstand has no protection or padding. Also noted the top edge of the protector doesn't exactly seat properly, even after several attempts to adjust it.

It is very convenient especially when I am carrying around in a work place, without worrying the accidental drop that may happen to the tablet. It is a plus to use it together with the stylus pen.

The regular tablets are more like fancy phones, with a little more oomph, but this ThinkPad is amazing. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best case For the X12!! It’s the best case for the X12 and the X12 is better with the case. It has the strap in the back for easy holding and the pen holder is in a good place. Also you can still use the keyboard which is great!

It feels great and has a hand hold slot, Pen holder and clips the keyboard closed to keep the screen safe. I have no issues with the case. Possibly overpriced however I used my rewards from the x12 buy to pay for the case. It was worth it then.

An added feature that I didn't realize it had is additional retention for the keyboard. The corners of the keyboard fit tight into the corners of the case so it stays closed and protected very securely

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flimsy Just received this product and I can tell you with confidence not to waste your money. It resembles a flimsy plastic case that someone might have 3D printed in their basement. As far as protection and fit is concerned, there is no inner shock absorbing lining, and the case itself feels like it might just pop off if you drop the tablet. The only useful feature that I could find is the little pen holder attached to the top. Hardly worth $30. But given the terrible customer service experience I had actually buying the laptop, I guess I was kidding myself when I thought a company like Lenovo might produce a product they could stand behind. Save your money on this one.
