Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lenovo Essential FHD Webcam Experience I´ve used this webcam for a couple of months and I like it. I use it for video calls and it always works. It has a good image and one of my friends said she liked it better than my previous webcam, that finally wore out and failed. The lens is wider than my previous webcam so it shows more background but that´s not a problem. I bought this webcam because the price was attractive and I had good luck with a Lenovo laptop. I´m happy.

This has eased my interactions on a day to day basis in the day and age of virtual meet ups. CON : Its best feature is its most challenging feature. The Wide Angle coverage is unmanageable in MAC. Apart from that its just the perfect solution for your calls at a throw away price.

All 4 cameras on all four workstations exhibit scrolling dark horizontal bands and we have confirmed that they are present on all of our video conferencing calls whether those calls be in Teams or Zoom or Meets. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Way too wide-angle for my useage. Image quality is decent, but the lens angle is VERY wide. It looked like I was 10 feet away from the camera! I work side by side with my fiance in our office, and this had both of us comfortably in frame. It would be fine if there was a way to zoom, like it says. But there isn't. So, unfortunately I had to return it. However, if you need a webcam that shows your entire room, this is the one.

I think the color accuracy is also very good. I have a 14-inch Lenovo laptop and a 720P webcam on that is just not anywhere near as good. So I'm happy to see you that Lenovo does have good camera quality after all.

The video quality is decent, reliable while working but there are a couple things to be fixed: it does not work when connected to USB 3 headers, so you need to find USB 2 hubs and may not be available on many modern systems. The product page states that the focus is manual and it is misleading because it may be understood as the user is able to control it but in realty it is just a fixed focus product. Therefore it is not possible to focus it closer to the camera. Some schools require pointing the ID of the student to camera and it is not possible to read the text value if it cannot be focused macro. For the price though, it stands out compared to others in the market of no-brand junkie webcams selling at the same price point due to the inflated market.

As a Twitch Affiliate it's been a great help to further content creating due to the camera's response times. However the microphone on the webcam seems to lack a little where the sound seems too spacey. But that's really not a huge deal since I use a separate microphone anyways.

The problem is that it freezes constantly, and requires you to unplug the camera and reseat it. There is also no software to control the camera. You must use Skype or OBS to make any changes to the camera's settings. This is pretty much required as the automatic settings are pretty awful. I also tried contacting Lenovo about these problems, but they seem to not even know that it exists. You can't register it on the site, or find drivers, etc. for it. Overall, if they get the software straightened out, it would be a decent option. Until then, pass on it.

Lenovo Essential FHD Webcam not only looks great but also has a good performance under different lighting conditions. This qualities are hard to find in entry level webcams. I love the multiple ways you can set it up the webcam that has a tripod option on its base. There are other aspects on this Webcam, but what I really like from the webcam is the cristal clear sound and video performance while recording. The only downside is that does not have native settings control.

There was dust in between the outside plastic shielding and the inside lens... so there was a spot on the screen I couldn't remove when using the camera. Dealing with the RMA was difficult. The fact that this camera came with dust and then the design prevented me from cleaning it makes me rate this a 2.

It's a wider angle than I'd expect for personal webcam. The angle is great for webconference if you have more than one person in from of the camera. Prefer folding security blind vs sliding because it slightly easier to use. A good deal for the price.

It does have better dynamic range than the pricier Lenovo 500 and wider 90 degree coverage. Like most webcams it will overexpose you unless your inches from it. If you try a third party software to tweak the image it won't help much, since it's manual options are limited. Also worth noting is that there is no manual focus option like the overview mentions. Worst of all, this camera features an always-on white LED, which makes you think that it's always recording - creeping everyone out who sees it. Who thought that an always on LED was a good idea?

The picture is plenty good enough for Teams/WebEx - but don't expect it be great quality for streaming/content creation. I tried using the internal mic but was told I sounded like I was far away. Be aware that it was an extremely wide field of view. My monitor is about 3 feet from my face and it shows the whole room and I'm a very small part of the picture. Would be nice to have software to allow it to zoom. Also, the reviews are all over the place - but I will tell you it does not support Windows Hello (facial recognition login).

Plug it in, wait for Windows to detect it and load a driver and it just works. I have a window behind me and sometimes get glare or diffused lighting from other cameras. This camera filtered the lighting well.

But now the camera just shows all Black no images just using it for few months. I think this is not the experience you want from a 50 USD camera.

If you're looking to just get a camera on a budget this works great, but if you go up $20-40 there will be better offerings. Also if you go down even $10 you lose some quality, again very effective unit in the mid range

This product works great. Picture quality is very sharp with a wide angle and no one on my zoom meetings has asked me to speak up or more clearly, so I guessing that the mic works just fine also. The physical cover is a nice touch, although I just unplug it when I'm not using it. My only gripe about the webcam is the small, green light that lets you know when the camera is in use. To my eyes, it's like a mini laser beam shining straight at me. It makes it hard to look directly at the camera.

I like the fact that I can mount and position it separately from my laptop's embedded webcam. It works well enough with little ghosting and low lag, and the USB cable is long enough to place it anywhere on my desktop. I especially like that it includes a universal 1/4" thread mount. Used with the VokoscreenNG app on Windows 10, I can digitally zoom its image capture. All-in-all, it's a great product so far ??

It is super easy to set up and works great right out of the box. For that reason I strongly recommend it. The only issue I have with it is kind of major and it's how it attaches to the monitor. I don't really know how to describe it, but it fits very loosely on top of the monitor, and doesn't really sit at the angle you want. You may get it there initially, but it doesn't lock into place and eventually settles into some cockeyed position that you just kind of live with. With that said, if you need a low-cost webcam that has a great picture and can live with a little wonkiness with positioning like I can, I strongly recommend this webcam.

It's a little clunky perhaps and wish it had a little bag or something I could stick it in when not in use, though I guess I can just put it back in the box. I got it in a half off sale so the value can't be beat. So for an economical camera, it's just fine. Perhaps it would be nice to have a way to narrow the view, it's pretty wide and I was tricky to for me to film an interview at home and crop out more, but maybe that's something I could have done on my end and didn't know about or obscured the background, etc.

Even the laptop camera and the mobile camera give a better picture. There is no software to adjust the brightness separately. Built-in microphone is also a disappointment, as I realized while using zoom and skype meeting.

Installation was automatic, no need of particular software, found itself drivers. Easy recognized by the system (Win10Pro64). Useful for group video chat or any product demonstration, charts display, corporate training or conference. Able to include in image a whole family members. Really WIDE ANGLE webcam. Not so suitable for users willing to show only their face... This webcam will capture almost half of your room as background in image, maybe stuff that you don't need/wont to be displayed around you. For my usage is the best in this price range. After 2 months of usage I am very satisfied.

Although the camera is fairly sensitive, you do need a normal decent level of light on your face. Otherwise, picture can get grainy. The mic array works slightly better than the built-in mic array on my laptop but not by much. I use a head phone with a boom mic for meetings anyway, so the audio quality is not really a factor of consideration for me. All and all, I am happy with this purchase.

After speaking with technical support, there's no actual digital zoom controls so you can't zoom in/out your video. It's a very wide angle and the video quality has an orange hue with lots of grainy images.

If you're into that kinda stuff, maybe this is the cam for you. Construction is pretty good, feels sturdy, and is priced ludicrously low if on sale (40$) I honestly wouldnt spend more than 30$ for it. They're shipping e-waste tbh

Other than that picture quality is ok - laptop cameras are better but it’s acceptable for the price. If you do a lot of video calling you might want to step it up to a higher end camera.

The colors are washed out and there is way too much noise on the picture, even with proper lighting in the room. Also, it has a very large viewing angle which makes it weird for video calls. There is a white LED which is always on even when camera if off, which makes it arkward (you feel like someone is watching you...). My 720p Macbook camera is far better than this.

The built in Windows Hello Facial Recognition works well and the colours are good enough for video calls and even the occasional stream. Do keep in mind that this device does not have any sort of software that will let you tweak the settings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Okay for the price Bought this on sale, apparently it's the first iteration of this product. Having used on Zoom calls a few times, the picture quality is much better than the built-in Macbook Pro camera, however, it still doesn't feel like Full HD which is what I've come to expect of webcams. I have an external microphone so haven't really used the built-in mic of the webcam. Installation is pretty easy and straightforward and there's no need to install any drivers or software. It just works out of the box on MacOS. I'll keep this for now as it's good enough for work. If I were to use it to vlog I would probably upgrade to something better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Webcam that does not meet my expectations The setup is straight forward. Just plug it into an available USB port on the computer. However the quality is only so-so. There is an obvious interference of a light bar scrolling from top to bottom like in older televisions. I don't have this annoying distraction in other webcams. The description on the website says there is a zoom function. I expect this is done through driver/software for this camera but I couldn't even find the product on Lenovo website.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good camera for the price but... A bit disappointed. I bought this camera with high-hopes along side the purchase of a complete system. The delivery of the webcam was delayed (understandable given the demand for cameras in our time of COVID). To solve my problem I bought a different camera from another on-line retailer to get me through until this camera arrived (I had to have a camera for my work). When this camera arrived I was saddened to find the image quality to be poorer than the alternative. To be clear, both cameras had the same specification in resolution and were, as far as I could find out (from manufacturer's websites), the same or similar in other features (e.g. autofocus, field of view, etc). I do confess that it's a tough task to compare webcams and my comparison may, in fact, be unfair. I do think this camera is great for the price. I do think Lenovo products are excellent. I am a loyal Lenovo supporter (and have recommended the brand to many colleagues, friends and family). I'll continue to be loyal to Lenovo... but, I have to be honest in my review and let you know that this camera will be my back-up.

The best thing about this is that it even works with my chromebox (Chrome OS) which is a great surprise for us now that I can use it for my kid's online learning. Simply awesome

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You get what you pay for. I've found this camera a little grainy (trouble collecting light) even for a FHD camera. None of my attempts to better light myself have solved it. I guess that's what you get for such an inexpensive camera. My bigger issue was with the shipping from Lenovo. On the website it said 3-5 days. In fact it took a month to ship, and even then the ship date changed regularly.

I have been using a third party utility called “webcam settings” to try and adjust the green hue on my MacBook Pro (which has an older built-in) cam. I wouldn’t buy this, if I were you, and if I were reading this well-written review.

Cover is not intuitive and seems like an afterthought. There is a white LED light that is always on... when recording an additional green light turns on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works OK when you control over the lighting This camera requires very good lighting to work well otherwise the colours are off and the image is very grainy. No drivers and no real control over the camera other than what is provided in the app you're using. The viewing angle is a bit on the wide side for a webcam. Audio quality is good but the mic is maybe a bit too sensitive if you're sharing your office space with others. Not bad if you can pick one up on sale for 50% off but you can do better if faced with full MSRP. I'd rate this as similar to some of the cheap import cams but without the associated risk. Note this review was not provided in exchange for a free cam.

I wish there was a zoom option though, the field of view is pretty wide and it shows a large part of my room and background while my Logitech would only show half of me and some background.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Horrible sound, the rest works as expected Webcam video quality is fine and everything works as expected. Design is great and installation is easy. That being said, the sound quality is horrible, tones of noises. I've tried the webcam on my desktop computer and on my thinkpad x390 to see if the noise problem was computer related, but the same identical noises were present on both machine. I've also spent a lot of time tweaking options in windows, and in the various applications I'm using (MS Teams and Skype) to try to improve the sound quality, but no success on that front too. I'm highly disapointed, I'm a thinkpad fan and thought that Lenovo would keep up with the quality of the product, but clearly there is quality issue with this particular webcam.
