Product Overview

JUNIPER SEC F/SOPHOS AV SRX240 1Y is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great as a firewall and router. Used it for site to site IPSec VPN and it works well for that. SRX is a zone based firewall so each interface has to be assigned a zone to pass traffic through and into it. There is a WebUI, but trust me, you'll want to be configuring it by CLI. The WebUI doesnt have all the options available in CLI and also is somewhat slow and the configuration it generates has a lot more redundant stuff in it.Have a trusty old Dell PowerConnect branded SRX240H that is still working well for pushing 300 Mbps of traffic average.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great device at a good price. We started deploying Juniper 10 years ago with the SSG series and have since migrated to the SRX series. This is my preferred device for medium-size office deployments, has great features, and awesome support. I have never had one of these devices fail prematurely and even when they do fail (lightning strikes, overheating, etc) we got a next day replacement with the support contracts. If you need to manage a device through the webUI, Juniper is not the greatest for that, but the SRX allows you to restart the web management without having to restart the whole device. I have found that it works best in Chrome and requires a web-management restart about once a month if you choose to look at things from the WebUI. Once you get the hang of administration through cli, it is fairly simple and it is the same set of commands across all Junos devices. These units also come with a variety of addin cards so you can get PoE, fiber, etc. directly off the router if you need it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works great for everything we have it do, firewall between zones, IDP, virus and web filtering and managing VPN end points to remote offices and end users. The web UI is poor, no doubt about it - it's quite slow. But when looking at this level of hardware, I don't consider the web UI to be considered as a point of management for any serious administrator. Even with a fast web UI, it would take me longer to configure a device than I could do so with the command line. No complaints here but I haven't used much other hardware in this class other than the ASA 5510's.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful firewall, extremely poor web UI for management. Very limited in what you can do, really poor menu structures.Had the firewall for a week, and hard drive failed. Took 6 weeks to get a replacement from Juniper. Tech support is awful.Got this cheap for a reason! IDP is extremely overpriced, more than twice what I paid on our Watchguard XTM510 IPS...
