Organizations today face growing pressures to quickly deliver high-quality software that is aligned with business objectives. Some of the pressures include delivering more with same or even fewer resources, working in teams that are becoming even more geographically distributed and adhering to organizational standards without having the processes defined or documented.

IBM Rational Team Concert drives software innovation through collaboration, transforming how people, especially those who have project-distributed teams, work together to develop and deliver software in an increasingly agile manner. IBM Rational Team Concert connects dispersed development teams to increase individual and team productivity, compress development cycles, and deliver high-quality software fast.

Based on the open and extensible Jazz platform, IBM Rational Team Concert empowers software teams to collaborate in real time in the context of specific roles and processes - delivering new levels of productivity, agility, and innovation.

IBM Rational Team Concert integrates source control, work item, and build management into a single application. It enables distributed teams spread throughout your enterprise to more effectively collaborate in developing and delivering quality software on time and on budget.

IBM Rational Team Concert Stakeholder - Software Subscription and Support R is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 92.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from I value the links from stories/defects to code via the tasks and change sets. It is a complex product and the customization is not well understood by many. Valuable Features:I really value the links from stories/defects to code via the tasks and change sets.Improvements to My Organization:* We’ve used it to drive our move to DevOps primarily because the CI tools were pre-built by another team.* The strong links between work-item tickets and change-sets have enabled simple reporting of changes to software.* This adds business value by reducing time-to-market.Room for Improvement:* Complex client application and web interface that try to do it all.* Plans are built on the browser: They cannot be copied to other media, such as Excel. They cannot be exported.* Source control via streams is a bar to acceptance for many developers who have become used to SVN or Git.* The number of active users seems to be low. This is reflected in the lack of easy-to-access online resources.Use of Solution:I have used it for two years.Stability Issues:I have not encountered any stability issues.Scalability Issues:I have not encountered any scalability issues.Technical Support:I have not contacted IBM for help. Generally, it’s a complex product and the customization is not well understood by many.Previous Solutions:We used a different solution. The move enabled the team to leverage work already done to create a fully continuous integration process.Initial Setup:The initial setup was not that simple. There was a steep learning curve for first time users and even steeper when configuring workflow and work item types.Other Solutions Considered:We did not evaluate other options. I personally have used a number of others in the past including:* QC* SourceSafe* CVS* SVN* JIRAI’ve found JIRA with SVN to be the easiest to pick up from scratch. On the downside, there are number of tools that need to be installed to enable true end-to-end control and traceability during software development, test, and deployment.Other Advice:Consider the Atlassian tool set and an open source control system.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I would like to be able to customize attributes such as story points. Valuable Features:Backlog management is a valuable feature.Improvements to My Organization:It helps in managing my backlog by having a consolidated view of stories, priorities, sprint, story point owners and statuses.Room for Improvement:There is a lot of scope for improvement, namely:* Loading of content as it is extremely slow.* Customizing attributes like story points since it is not available.* Page refreshes are erroneous which need to be corrected.* An ability to write stories in rich text.Use of Solution:We have used this product for two years.Stability Issues:There are stability issues that I have encountered.Scalability Issues:I have not encountered any scalability issues.Technical Support:I would give their technical support a rating of 2/10.Previous Solutions:We used a different solution prior to this one and made the shift due to licensing issues.Initial Setup:The learning curve was high as the setup was not quite intuitive.Other Advice:You should use this product only after the issues mentioned above are resolved.Disclaimer: I am a real user, and this review is based on my own experience and opinions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We're able to get an overview of a project's status, but it doesn't allow changes to templates for in-progress projects. Valuable Features:It's easy to plan work.Improvements to My Organization:Easy collaboration between several development teams such as design, development, and testing. It's also simple to get an overview of a project's status.Room for Improvement:* SVN integration* The ability to change project templates for projects in-progressUse of Solution:I've used it for three years.Deployment Issues:No issues encountered.Stability Issues:No issues encountered.Scalability Issues:There were issues, but they have been solved.Previous Solutions:No previous solution was used.Initial Setup:It was easy.Implementation Team:We did it in-house.ROI:Project realization has been carried out much faster.Other Solutions Considered:No we didn't.Other Advice:Be careful when selecting suitable project templates, as there's no way of changing it later.Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:We are a business partner of IBM.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Slow, difficult to use and UI needs work Rational Team Concert is bloated software which has many features in which i will rarely ever use. If they would at least try to listen to the users and reduce the amount of software bloat.RTC creates many different hurdles for one to develop in a lean agile environment.RTC tries to integrate with too many useless services. RTC should built with an API first mentality for developers. If i could i would try to write my own client. This desktop client has too many things going on.
Date published: 2015-04-30
Rated 1 out of 5 by from It is diffcult to use Comparing to many available source controlling software, RTC is one of hardest to use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Suggestion for enhancement I would like the product to provide a feature, if not exist already, where the subscription that exists currently could be enhanced so that I can set reminder email notification with the summary of all the tasks that i have subscribed and not complete
