Rated 5 out of 5 by from An enterprise-level solution that can be used for internet networking, but its throughput should be increased What is our primary use case? HPE Ethernet Switches are used for internet networking and the hotel industry. What is most valuable? We are not using any specific features. We use HPE Ethernet Switches to provide solutions for the hotel, their guests, and IPTV. What needs improvement? The solution's throughput should be increased because we often get stuck when it comes to IPTV streaming. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using HPE Ethernet Switches for more than five years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? HPE Ethernet Switches are not as stable as Cisco. I rate HPE Ethernet Switches a six out of ten for stability. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? Around 250 users are extensively using HPE Ethernet Switches. We do not have plans to increase the solution's usage. I rate HPE Ethernet Switches a six out of ten for scalability. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? Before HPE Ethernet Switches, we used Juniper switches. We mainly switched from Juniper to HPE because of the local support HPE Ethernet Switches provide. How was the initial setup? Cisco Meraki has an easy initial setup. Aruba and HPE have a pretty configuration setup. What about the implementation team? The solution was implemented through our in-house engineers. It takes around 45 minutes to an hour to deploy the solution. Our engineers use the same deployment process as with other products. We cannot get support from local HPE because they don't have local engineers. So most of the time, we get support from other countries or someone who specializes in those areas. What was our ROI? We will see a return on investment with HPE Ethernet Switches within one year. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? We have to pay for a yearly license for HPE Ethernet Switches. The solution's pricing is lower than Cisco's. The solution does not include any extra costs in addition to the standard licensing fees. What other advice do I have? I am using the latest version of HPE Ethernet Switches. One or two engineers are required for the solution's deployment and maintenance, but it depends on the customer site. HPE Ethernet Switches are more suited for enterprise-level customers. However, Cisco is the best solution for data center-level customers. Overall, I rate HPE Ethernet Switches a seven out of ten. HPE Ethernet Switches are easy to configure. What needs improvement? The technical support does not match up to the standard of Cisco. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using HPE Ethernet Switches for one year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? HPE Ethernet Switches are stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? HPE Ethernet Switches are scalable. How was the initial setup? The initial setup is straightforward. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The license cost is yearly. What other advice do I have? I give HPE Ethernet Switches an eight out of ten. I recommend HPE Ethernet Switches for users. It is not as expensive as Cisco Switches. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to deploy, stable, and scalable What is our primary use case? I use HPE Ethernet Switches to connect virtual PBX or IP PBX to the voice infrastructure. There are some exceptions to what I will configure, which is to have the same connection for connecting the phone to the switch, and from the phone to the PC, using only one cable. What is most valuable? The most valuable feature of the solution is its stability. What needs improvement? The security of the solution always has room for improvement. For how long have I used the solution? I have been using the solution for ten years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution is scalable. How are customer service and support? From the perspective of an integrator, HP's technical support is good. How was the initial setup? The complexity of the deployment depends on the configuration required. One is to use the solution for a small company that has fifty employees, and we will put fifty phones, and another situation is when we install the solution for a company with more than two thousand employees. The deployment for a large organization takes around four months. The deployment is not difficult. For large customers, they use two different switches; HPE 2680 for the office and HPE 5406ZL for the distribution and core. These switches are capable of both layer two and layer three functions. What about the implementation team? The implementation is completed with our help as the integrator. What other advice do I have? I give the solution a nine out of ten. I recommend HPE Ethernet Switches to others. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Issue-free, easy to set up, and reliable What is our primary use case? We use the solution for Layer 2 switching and we are using it for the searching, VLAN features, and some DDoS prevention and protection. What is most valuable? The Layer 2 switching capabilities are very useful. It has an easy initial setup. The solution offers lifetime warranties. It has good stability. it's been issue-free, and we haven't needed any support. It can scale. What needs improvement? We haven't had any issues as of yet. The quality could be better. For example, I much prefer Cisco. However, they are both almost at the same level. The pricing could be lowered. For how long have I used the solution? I've been using the solution for four years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? It's a stable solution. It is reliable. There are no bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze. If it is configured correctly, I will rate the stability nine out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? They have 24 or 48 ports. It can scale. You choose according to your needs. We have 100 users. We do not have plans to increase usage. How are customer service and support? We've never faced any issues, and our team is very knowledgeable. So far, we have not needed support or assistance. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We use a variety of products, including Cisco, HPE, Aruba, Ruckus, Cambium, and D-Link. How was the initial setup? For switching and networking, it is okay to set up. We didn't run into any issues. The deployment is quick and only takes half an hour. We used the console and the GUI during the process. I have one or two resources available to handle any maintenance tasks. What about the implementation team? We handled the setup ourselves via the GUI. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution is a bit expensive. What other advice do I have? I tend to prefer Cisco over HPE. We buy HPE mostly for its warranty. I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable and easy to set up with a nice basic design What is most valuable? The solution offers a basic design. There's nothing advanced that we have done. Now, we are planning to upgrade with the central features from the S side, the S feature. It's pretty easy to set up and implement. It's stable. We never have any issues. We have no issues with scaling. What needs improvement? Their support plan needs to be better. We have a basic plan, so support is always delayed for us. We'd like it if they were more responsive, no matter the plan. We'd like better support for situations where we need troubleshooting. We find that a solution like Juniper offers more features. HPE should compare themselves and see if they can also add such features to their offering. For how long have I used the solution? I've only been at the organization for six months, and have used this product for that period. The company has used this switch for maybe six years. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable, and the performance is good. It is reliable. There are no bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It's easy to scale the product. We're using the solution in a hospital, and there is a 1,000-plus line. How are customer service and support? Technical support isn't as responsive as they need to be. Responses are always delayed. How would you rate customer service and support? Neutral How was the initial setup? The initial setup is very straightforward and simple. It's not overly complex or difficult. We have only two staff to deploy and maintain the solution and we have an outsourced company for the support contract. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The pricing is okay. However, there are cheaper options (like Huawei). I'd rate the affordability a four out of five. Which other solutions did I evaluate? We have recently compared the solution with Huawei and Juniper. We looked at options to see which would be best for a proposal. We may change, or we may stick with HPE. Right now, Huawei is cheaper than HPE. What other advice do I have? We are customers. We have a support contract through partners. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. The product is good for hospitals and the healthcare industry since it's quite stable. I would easily recommend this product for healthcare-related scenarios. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The licensing cost is set up annually or every three years. What other advice do I have? I would rate HPE Ethernet Switches an overall eight on a scale of one to ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good support, works well and offers decent performance What is our primary use case? The company wanted to extend our network and also wants to have the SAN storage, so we deployed it on other switches to create a new network segment and also connect the SAN switches on it. What is most valuable? The solution works well and offers good performance. The client is satisfied. We found the installation process to be simple. The solution is stable. It can scale. Technical support is fine. What needs improvement? I cannot say what areas need improvement. We would always be happier if the price were reduced. For how long have I used the solution? I've used the solution for less than one year. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is stable. It offers good performance. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? It's scalable. We only have two clients on the solution at this time. How are customer service and support? Technical support has been fine. They are okay. I find them to be responsive. If we need help with something, we can get assistance. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I'm working a lot with Aruba Switches right now. How was the initial setup? The product is straightforward to set up. It's simple. We did not find it to be complex. One switch might take a day to deploy and two or three days to finalize the operations and make it stable. It takes about that long to make sure everything is working well. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? I'm not sure of the exact cost of the solution. Of course, it could always be less expensive. What other advice do I have? I'd recommend the solution to certain clients. It's a fine product. I would rate the solution seven out of ten. Which deployment model are you using for this solution? What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is very stable. I rate its stability a ten out of ten. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? The solution has good scalability. We have three switches; we use two extensively, while a few users prefer the other. Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? We used Netgear before. Using it, we encountered issues with faulty switches and licensing plans. Also, the warranty support from the company we purchased from needed to be more satisfactory. How was the initial setup? The solution's initial setup process is straightforward. It takes less than ten minutes to complete. What about the implementation team? We implement the solution in-house most of the time. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? How would you rate customer service and support? Positive Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch? I have previously used Cisco solutions. I prefer the HPE dashboard. How was the initial setup? We are an integrator and help our clients implement the solution. Typically we need three people, including two engineers, to set up the solution. What about the implementation team? We can handle the initial setup. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The solution is quite expensive. I can't speak to the exact cost of the solution. In one year, we pay a lot for it. We just bought new switches for $500 last year, and now, the same switch is $800. It's gone up in price in the last 12 months. They are also hard in terms of getting switches. They are not available now. There are no additional costs over and above licensing. What other advice do I have? We are using the latest version of the solution. We use it daily. We do have some local, in-country restrictions we have to deal with. I'd recommend the solution. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A scalable solution that is easy to use and has a very low failure rate What is most valuable? HPE Ethernet Switches are scalable, and their software is also quite sturdy. The solution's security is up to the mark according to industry standards. HPE Ethernet Switches are very easy to use, and the MTBF or failure rate is very low. What needs improvement? The solution’s licensing could be improved. For how long have I used the solution? In my current organization, I have provided HPE Ethernet Switches to one or two customers, but in my previous organization, we have provided HPE Ethernet Switches to more customers. They entered the Indian market in 2008 and have a very good reputation. What do I think about the stability of the solution? I rate HPE Ethernet Switches a nine out of ten for stability. How are customer service and support? The technical support team of HPE Ethernet Switches is very good. How was the initial setup? The setup of HPE Ethernet Switches depends on the SoW, and it's not complex at all. The solution's initial setup is quite straightforward. What about the implementation team? L2 switches are deployed in half an hour to one hour. But L3 switches get deployed in one, two, or three days depending on the SoW. Depending on the quantity, one or two L2 or L3 people are more than sufficient for the solution's implementation. Two people are required to implement L3 switches, and depending on the SoW, the job can be finished in one or two days. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? HPE Ethernet Switches used to have a lifetime warranty for some of the products. We have to see only the security part when considering licenses because the licenses upgrade. What other advice do I have? Since the Indian market is very price-sensitive, HPE Ethernet Switches are preferred from a commercial point of view. Cisco switches are more stable from a technical and commercial point of view, but commercially, HP is the choice for any enterprise. Since HPE Ethernet Switches have an SMB presence, SMB customers will buy them. Overall, I rate HPE Ethernet Switches an eight or nine out of ten. Rated 5 out of 5 by from High availability, useful for stacking, helpful and responsive support What is our primary use case? We use HPE Ethernet Switches in hospitals and governments. What needs improvement? We have some problems with the performance of our HPE Ethernet Switches because they are old. For how long have I used the solution? I have used HPE Ethernet Switches within the past 12 months. What do I think about the stability of the solution? The solution is highly stable. What do I think about the scalability of the solution? We have one client using the solution. How are customer service and support? The support of HPE Ethernet Switches is responsive and helpful. How was the initial setup? HPE Ethernet Switches are more difficult to implement than other solutions, such as Aruba, because the configuration has to be done one by one, it's not saved centrally. You are not able to automatically configure them across the hardware. I utilized a significant amount of HP technology in order to create a stacking configuration, incorporating various models as needed. This was because Aruba, which is a well-established brand, is frequently used for stacking purposes. However, in our particular scenario, I utilized HPE Ethernet Switches, despite it being an older technology, and decided to stack them. To provide a specific example, I utilized the HP 2930 model, which is stackable as per the guidelines provided by the model guide. Additionally, I integrated artificial intelligence to further optimize the process. However, for improved results, scaling up is necessary. What about the implementation team? I did the implementation of the solution. What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing? The price of the solution is expensive. I rate the price of HPE Ethernet Switches a ten out of ten. What other advice do I have? I would recommend this solution to others who have traditional environments. I rate HPE Ethernet Switches a ten out of ten. Disclaimer: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer:Integrator
