Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fine for a work computer. Computer works as advertised. Great for running CADD software. However, not super stoked about Windows 11 only coming with a 30 day trial for all Windows 365 software...including Word. After 30 days you can still open Word docs but you can't create new or edit old documents. If you want to access anything you've created during the trial period your forced to by the entire sweet, which, insult to injury, is a 100$ annual subscription. Rip off. Plus, there's tons of random pop ups and Windows interface is not exactly what I would call user friendly, especially if you haven't used a PC for some time. PCs are fine for work computers but I would never get one for personal use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Laptop, but annoying cooling fan startup The Power G11 is a quality laptop, it performs well and has a large bright screen (16:10 ratio). Speakers are decent too. The only gripe I have about this laptop is the cooling fan startup noise. When under a processing load the fans on any laptop will turn on, this is normal - however on the G11 the fans come on with a burst of noise which can be very annoying especially in a quiet environment. And when the processing load is moderate the fans will turn on and off, and the bursts of fan noise can be hard to ignore. Not sure what HP changed, I am coming from a G9 and that unit's fans start up gradually (sometimes you don't even notice them starting up). There have been a few bios updates for the G11 but none have changed the fan startup burst of noise. If you are working in a fairly noisy environment then you may not notice the fan startup noise, but in a quiet room it is very noticeable and annoying. If HP could change the fan startup profile this laptop would be about perfect. It is easy to upgrade (I was able to install more ram), and there are numerous videos online showing how to service just about any part on the G11.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don’t do it. It crashed on me once after two weeks brand new, then again on day 28 (I know this because my warranty is only good for 30 days from the order date) my computer absolutely crashed in safe boot, would not reboot. Had to order a flash drive to redownload the hard drive. This is my work computer, so yeah. They are asking me to ship it back (meanwhile weekend is a day away) and then it will go through a review process to determine if it meets the warranty standard. I had an Apple MacBook Pro for 5 years with somewhat intense usage, wanted to upgrade to HP Zbook and regret it so much. I am in a horrible position and HP could care less.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good value for a work/home laptop It is a good value. Although I only opted for 32M DRAM, it is a workhorse. The screen is fine and speakers and camera are acceptable. The onboard mousepad takes getting used to and I prefer to use it with a bluetooth mouse, but it works okay when I need it. What surprised me was the battery life. It's not exceptionally fast, but has a satisfyingly deliberate and reliable feel to its operation. I like the Wolf security even though I run Sophos Cloud on top.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gotta do better at this price point... It's a good laptop, but not sure it was worth the price. It runs quiet and has a very good battery life, but mine is freezing up and unresponsive on a regular basis (almost daily). Mouse is unresponsive and so is keyboard, and only a hard restart will get it working again. Shouldn't have this issue on an expensive new laptop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Aiming for good college engineering and design machine I purchased this laptop for my son as a college machine focused on CAD, design, and rendering work. Two years ago, when he graduated high school, I bought him a well-appointed general-purpose laptop assuming it would easily handle college needs. I quickly learned that what works well for office tasks, web use, and even gaming does not necessarily translate to strong performance in CAD and rendering software. We’ve had good long-term experiences with HP Omen desktops in the past, so I turned to HP again and ultimately landed on the ZBook Power 16. From a performance standpoint, this machine delivers. It is CAD-certified, noticeably faster than his previous laptop in Rhino and rendering workflows, and the combination of a capable CPU and dedicated GPU makes a real difference for design work. That said, the buying experience was far from straightforward. I initially purchased this unit through what was advertised as an “early Black Friday deal,” only to see that same configuration discounted even further multiple times in the weeks that followed. Hp would not match those price drops even within 30 days and I would have needed to return and rebuy to save another $100 (disappointing and not worth the effort). On top of that, the ZBook Power 16 line has an overwhelming number of configuration combinations—different CPUs, GPUs, RAM, SSDs, warranties, and security packages—which made it difficult to confidently determine the best value. The specific unit I purchased was the least expensive ZBook Power 16 configuration: a decent processor, a 4GB GPU, 16GB of RAM, and an extremely limited 500GB M.2 SSD. The next step up at the time offered an 8GB GPU and better memory/storage options, but surprisingly excluded the three-year warranty and HP Wolf Security package that came with the lower-priced model—a combination I later learned represents roughly a $500 value. Since GPU memory can’t be upgraded later, this was a tough decision, but I opted to upgrade RAM and storage myself. There were a few additional disappointments. Most ZBook Power configurations (except the most expensive) are limited to a 1080p display, which felt like a downgrade compared to the beautiful 4K screen on his previous laptop. We accepted this because he typically works connected to a 4K USB-C monitor. I also found that compatible SODIMM RAM and M.2 drives were not as easy to source as expected, and learned that while Gen5 M.2 drives technically work, the system cannot take advantage of their speed and they generate unnecessary heat. To make matters worse, HP does not include a heat shield for the second M.2 slot, even though one is provided for the tiny OEM drive. In the end, I upgraded the system to 32GB of RAM and added a 2TB M.2 SSD. After doing the math, I ended up spending roughly $500 less than the higher-tier ZBook with the 8GB GPU—and nearly $1,000 less when factoring in the weaker warranty and lack of security software on that model. Overall, the laptop now performs very well for my son’s rendering and design work, and I expect it to comfortably carry him through the remainder of his college career. While the hardware itself is strong and well-suited for CAD workloads, the confusing configuration options and constantly fluctuating pricing made the shopping process far more stressful than it needed to be. Hopefully, sharing this experience helps other buyers navigate the lineup more confidently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new HP ZBook Power 16 Just an amazingly fast laptop

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Workhorse Laptop PCs have improved a lot in the last few years. This laptop is very fast and quiet. A bit on a heavier size because it's a 16" laptop. Well-built PC from HP. I don't understand why the mousepad is not centered. It's a bit annoying but it's responsive and smooth. Windows have come a long away trying to catch up with Mac, but I think it's getting there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast and trouble free. The loading of all of our applications, including some processing intensive 3D CAD applications, went smoothly and without issue. The responsiveness of these CAD applications was exceptionally good. Much faster than we would have expected from a laptop. Overall, we have been very pleased with these laptops.
