Rated 5 out of 5 by from Documentation / Information Challenges Nice workstation. Generally, the system is well-designed and has worked well since receiving it a month ago. I was surprised at how little documentation is provided re: the layout of the system. It took me some time to sort out how and where to add hard drives, how to connect them, etc. It also wasn't clear to me when purchasing the system that if I exceeded 32 GB of RAM, I'd need to add the memory fan. Installation of the memory fan assembly was disconcerting since it includes a connector that plugs into the motherboard and it was nearly impossible to see whether the alignment or positioning was correct. I was concerned about bending pins in the connector. Fortunately, it aligned very well and I didn't experience any actual issue with the installation. I'm not a fan of the memory fan design, but it seems to work ok. Honestly, if I had to start over again with this purchase, I would purchase everything from HP. I thought I could save a few bucks buying the RAM and the graphics card from another supplier - and I probably did. However the time spent wasn't really worth it ... although I did get to know my new system more extensively that I would have otherwise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Failure The $6K package was sent without the simple video cable that connected my tower to the monitor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from should be a great system now i am running I configured/designed and purchased this computer specifically for machine vision development in Halcon/C# as well we other MV environments. i had a baseline Z4 at work and found it to be very capable. This one was designed to be a supercharged version. Unfortunately, it came DOA, a condition i later learned from our IT folks they have seen on others. I worked through the DOA issue with HP and got the Motherboard replaced and it is now working as expected. I downgraded the score from five to four because of the pain HP put me through to get this resolved. it took two weeks and i had to jump through the same hoops each time. the service folks gave the impression of "stalling" the repair. The issue was a failure to boot. no POST, no BIOS load, nothing. It felt that every person i spoke with wanted me to do the same tests and provide the same numbers over and over. it did not feel like the customer was valued until the last service person i spoke with who helped me get it all resolved. There seemed to be considerable confusion around the system being a configurable z4 vs a consumer grade machine. Apparently, the Z machines are more commercial/business grade machines and hence go through different warranty reps. They could not seem to understand i configured and ordered this via their web-site. they could not seem to even find my serial number. the website could not id my serial number either and said i had to call. pretty painful for a brand new machine literally straight out of the box. All was resolved, but thankfully, i was not in a current activity i had to have the machine ready for development. Even this web-site for the review is wierd. i am NOT an HP employee, but could not advance unless i said yes to the question!?!?!?!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great liitle workstation. Compact case and small footprint. This is a suprisingly powerful workstation, that only sacrifices a little compared to it's bigger brothers. It only has a single PCIE gen5 expansion slot, but there are plenty of gen4 slots. Two PCIE gen4 nvme ssd slots are easily accessible, and a front panel nvme host swap bay is an option. As you'd expect memory expansion is limited, but very capable. External communication is well prvided for, particuarly with the available options such as Thunderbolt 4 or 10 GBE. It's at home with either Windows Pro 11 Workstation or linux, or dual boot.
