Nice workstation computer
Great workstation computer that meets our office needs. It’d be even better with more video port options.

Stutters and freezes & Other HP things
PC is usable, but it will stop processing and "freeze" for a few seconds every so often. At first, I thought it was my keyboard and mouse, but soon found the entire screen would stop refreshing.
A little more looking into it and any task it was doing, playing music, video, copying files, etc. would just stop for a few seconds then start back up. This PC is not being used remotely.
After searching for a bit, I found many other people with a Z2 G9 with the same problem. The solution is to stop/remove all HP services/software.
Lastly this is more of a review of HP in general. I've been buying and using HP PC and printers for years, supporting about 40 PCs and various printers, etc. I've always used HP because those products just worked. Odd ball issues with their PCs, like above, and the PITA printers and printer support systems they have now, and the whole bloatware crap wolf security pro, etc. I'm ready to give another MFG a go, the grass might be greener but at least I'll have tried.

Outstanding hardware, mediocre operating system
The 5-star rating is for the hardware. The SSD and RAM are blazingly fast, and there is plenty of room for expanding both memory and storage. And I am glad that HP still offers a choice to purchase a PC with a read-write optical disk.
On the other hand, the operating system (Windows 11 22H2), gets 1.5 stars at best. Useful commands have been hidden behind additional layers of context menus, and the Taskbar customization is now limited to the point where I can't uncombine taskbar icons or change them into text labels as in Windows 7. Microsoft needs to realize there is a good reason why hieroglyphics fell out of favor! Finally, the placement of the taskbar icons and especially the Start menu -- which are all now centered -- violates usability principles, as they move around the bottom of the screen depending on how many programs you have open, so before clicking you have to look directly and make sure where they have moved to.
All these user-interface defects required extensive modification with Start11 and WindowBlinds, which make it possible to return to a sensible interface.

Good and bad,
I quite like my brand new Z2 Tower G9 workstation.
There's a lot I like about the machine but a whole lot I don's like about trying, and failing to get information to modify or up grade it.

Very Pleased!!!!!
The PC with an Intel I9 processor is extremely fast and 128 Gig RAM (DDR5) is perfect for Photoshop work. Everything works so fast when paired with SSD drives, NVIDIA RTX A4000E with 16 Gig DDR6, etc. I couldn't be more pleased with the purchase of this system!

Case 5096418477
It was supposed to be my "dream work horse" WS. Upon arrival of the unit, there was first warning sign of accessing BIOS, i.e. back then the NVIDIA graphics card had to be physically taken out to get the monitor to see the BIOS UI.
Apparently, the workstation arrived with major defects rendering it into complete noncompliance with advertised capabilities :
(1) NVIDIA graphics card could not be used without a BIOS update for "hybrid" graphics,
(2) BIOS updates could be made only when NVIDIA card is physically removed from its PCIe slot,
(3) BIOS UI came without configuration selection for handling "hybrid" graphics.
Support ticket on the issue was opened on Dec-5th 2022. Support team has initiated a hardware replacement activity to replace motherboard and NVIDIA card. Motherboard delivery has become a main delay factor - still has not arrived. Anyhow, new unit should work without significant HW replacements.
Today is Dec-22 2022 and the HP support team is still working on this Case. Unfortunately, there is no way to track the case status and timeline.
Only after numerous phone calls, on Dec-21 HP Support has supplied a contact person and promised to replace the unit.
I am looking forward to graceful resolution of this case.

Great workstation, hearty design
Great workstation, HP never disappoints with their towers. Decent space inside while still managing to be tastefully compact. Cooling design is solid. With the 14th gen i7 and RTX 3070 onboard, it is a workhorse for sure. Both the forward and rear ports are well thought out. I would highly recommend this tower to both professionals and gamers alike. HP has never let me down with their quality hardware. Except maybe with printers lol.

FEDEX is horrible!
This was, by far, the worst shipping experience I've ever had.
First, FEDEX delivered it to the wrong address, so I had to order a new one. For the second delivery, I confirmed that it was to be delivered at the local FEDEX store.
I received my first message that it was going to be delivered on Thursday, then Friday, then Saturday, etc. Finally, it was delivered at my home, not the FEDEX office, on Tuesday. No signature required!
It was repackaged in a FEDEX box, rather sloppily. (Not sure what that was all about.) Nothing in the box but the computer and power cord. I had expected at least a "Thank you for buying HP" or something. Made me very nervous. It sat on my floor for two days until HP assured me
Nobody was in charge. HP pointed their finger at FEDEX and FEDEX revealed nothing.
BTW...the computer has met expectations.
I've always had HP equipment in my office.
Next time? Who knows.
The woman who took my initial order exceeded my expectations. Deserves 5 stars.

Easy Setup But A Little Noisy
I transitioned from older laptop to this desktop, expecting quieter and faster operations. The HP desktop is surprisingly noisier than my laptop and cannot see any increase in speed (HP has much better specs than old laptop). I've only had it going for two weeks. Setup process did go extremely well.

Very customizable PC
This is a highly customizable PC, It replaces a 12 year old HP that sadly could not be upgraded to Windows 11. I recommend using help from the HP professionals available on line as they are excellent and can answer any questions, have very good suggestions and can make certain applicable discounts are applied.

Windows replacement Linux Workstation.
Got this workstation to replace my old Windows 10 machine. I got it Linux ready and loaded Debian 13 with no issues. The workstation is incredibly quiet and the build was clean.

RELIEF!
Machine functions very well after a few start-up issues. Video cabling between my existing HP HDMI display and the NVIDIA output ports required a call to HP Tech Support, but was then quickly resolved with the correct cable purchased locally.

HP Z2 G9 Tower Workstation
It seems to be a fine computer. It would be better if it came with a dedicated graphics card.
