It didn't work. I ended up calling Tech support only to be told my laptop can't do 2 monitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HP technical support is courteous but entirely untrained and clueless on technical issues. I purchased this a part of an HP advertised package with 2 monitors to implement dual monitors on an HP Envy desktop. Following the HP instructions, it did not work. Contacting HP support was difficult, when I made contact with support, they were not knowledgeable about the product. What they had me try didn't work and they concluded the Hub was faulty. I returned the HUB and they sent a replacement. This had the same problem. The issue was escalated to another support technician and after a few more days, I was called. We were on the phone for 1 1/4 hours, trying all his suggestions did not resolve the problem. He was not at all knowledgeable about the technologies underlying the HUB, desktop or dual monitor set up. His conclusion was that this HUB would not work to support dual monitors and I needed to purchase additional HP products to connect the dual monitors. I am returning the HUB and they are only crediting me with a partial refund.

Only thing it’s lacking (and would be five star review otherwise) is an audio output for speakers. Of course you can do this with a usb-c dongle, but then you lose a usb-c port, which may or may not be important to your set up.

The USB C “pass trough” to provide energy to the Laptop isn’t working accordingly to the specifications. There’s some loss of image definition when connected to dual screen. There’s better options in the market, avoid this! (Using with HP Probook 650 G8)

So while I use this, I also have many more wires and cords that are also plugged into my laptop, which is not what I was hoping. I really wanted to be able to disconnect and connect my laptop to this hub and be done with it.

When I ordered my package it said that shipping would take 3-5 business days and ended up being delivered over two weeks later, two days before I move into my college dorm. I’m now having to spend more money and order something else because of the miscommunication and misrepresentation of this item.

However it comes without a power supply and the 45watt power supply that comes with the ProBook 440 G9 14" was not powerful enough to charge the laptop through the dock. I had to buy a separate 100w psu to get it all to work.

There are other products with more ports online but seems also with very short life, or even dangerous for the product connected, according to user reviews. I prefer to stay with this to make sure it is compatible 100% with my HP laptop. Product quality looks great. Hope this is the case in the coming years. If not, I will update.

I tried the unit on two different HP laptops, and the device was unable to support two monitors, even though the instructions detail two monitor connections. I returned one day after delivery.

To make it worse, the HP rep said it would not be needed for it to work properly when it actually does need to be used. I had to go out and spend an additional $35 just to get it to work. So much for the integrity (Not) of HP.

Unfortunately the power port doesn’t work so I still have to have a separate power cord plugged into my laptop to keep it charged. Also, the HDMI port is a little loose so my monitor screen goes black every now and then. Very annoying.

I have a third-party UBS-C hub that works great with the HP E14 G4 Portable Monitor but this dock is not recognized at all. Very expensive paperweight and frustrated that I have a useless piece of hardware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only One External Hard Dive Works I purchased this to be able to be able to hook up additional monitors and external hard drives for my HP Spectre x360 13.5" 2-in-1 Laptop - 14t-ef100. I hooked up one external Seagate 5TB drive, heard the ping, and saw it when I checked "My PC". I hooked up a second Seagate 5TB external drive, heard the ping, but nothing showed up under "My PC". I tried the second external drive first and it recognized it but would not recognize the first drive. The drives checked out fine along with my new laptop. This hub should recognize both but doesn't.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked for 11 months, cable went bad. This worked really well for 11 months, but now the cable is getting loose and has difficulty connecting the laptop to everything. I can get it to work with some wiggling and placing it in a certain spot, but that isn't sustainable, I will have to get a new dock. I understand cables don't last forever, especially plugging and unplugging every day. However, I wish the USB C cable wasn't hard wired into the hub. Would be nice to be able to replace the cable and still have the dock.

Turned it on the next morning and got a frozen screen. Had to restart. Haven't had this issue with my computer before, but it only happened once. 2. When I plug the hub into my computer, it does not always connect. Or when I start my computer, it does not always connect. The only fix is just unplugging and plugging back in until it works.

This was a major problem seeing as I needed two monitors (laptop and 2nd display). All the other ports work, and the inline charging is great too. I am happy with my purchase, but it would have nice if it was cheaper like other docking stations.

Having the USB ports allows me to connect my keyboard and mouse. I use another USB port to charge my earbuds and fitness watch too. Realize that you will need to use your own power adapter. The one that came with my HP Spectra 360 works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't do 1920 x 1200 I bought this to use with my HP Elitebook 830 G8 so I could have a wired ethernet connection and fewer cables to plug in when at my desk. I have a 1920x1200 monitor. If I connect the hdmi cable directly to the laptop I get full resolution, but if I connect it to this hub the max resolution is 1920x1080, but it recommends 1680x1050. That is the same ratio as my monitor, but both options through the hub are blurry. Got the same result when using a displayport cable. Surprising since it claims to handle 4k.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked but not anymore Worked for about 2 months to display video to 2 external monitors on an Omen 17t-ck100 laptop. Stopped working one day and HP support was utterly useless to correct any sort of problem. Sent laptop in for Hp repair, couldn't find or solve any issue on a laptop that works perfectly. Hub works fine on multiple other laptops, just not the HP brand one that should work by default.

Much cheaper than the company provided dock but with similar/equivalent functionality. No need to carry my work provided dock from home to office any more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only One USB Device Recognized I had high hopes for the HP Universal USB-C Multiport Hub with my new HP laptop. Unfortunately they were quickly dashed when I found out it will only recognize one of the two USB ports. Plugged two external hard drives in and it only recognized one. To add further insult to injury I chatted with and eventually called HP Support. Got bounced around several times, disconnected, told to look for firmware updates (there were none) then finally after being on a call for 20 minutes the rep told me I need to call another department. I called and found out they closed my case and refused to help me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unable to Use - Requires Special Drivers Sadly, this dock does not work natively out-of-the-box. It requires that you install special drivers in order to utilize the DisplayPorts. This limits my ability to use this dock asmy employer does not allow unapproved software or drivers to be installed. (Pretty much a universal policy at large corporations and organizations.) As such this dock is completely unusable to me. More frustrating, this is the third HP dock I have tried using with my HP ProBook 650 G7. All the docks claim to support dual 4K, the laptop claims to support dual 4K. But apparently, none do so together.

I am direct wired in with my internet, so i thought this adapter would be a great way to use the hp laptop i just bought woth my home internet - but now im always dropping off zoom calls, "network quality low", and having the prompts to restart my adapter. Pretty bummed, did i just receive a fauly one?? Because seems kinda expensice for what i got. If this is not a common issue id like to get a replacement....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointing expensive product Truly disappointing product. It does not reliably and consistency work. This should have been an easy plug and play and that is not what it is. Frankly I don't know whether this thing will ever work for me. An expensive waste of money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Additional Ports for external hard drive, disc player, and thumb drives, access at the same time. I have multiple external devices that I use, and the universal port permits me to go back and forth between them without having to unplug a device to have access to a port.

Then this week my usb headset no longer worked with the hub and had to be plugged directly into my laptop. Now a couple days later the hub no longer powers my laptop. $100 for four months of use is unacceptable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Over priced and not straight forward connectivity You'll need an HDMI ((AND)) DisplayPort cable for 2 monitors. Expensive for what it is. Make sure you have at least a USB-C 3.1 power enabled port.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Hub I bought this hub in order to connect a new laptop to a larger monitor. It was very easy to set up. It gives me a lot more versatility when using my laptop in that I will have multiple screens. I highly recommend this hub.

I tested it with multiple computers, including a brand new one, and it still didn’t function, only working usb ports. Since the first day, I’ve been trying to return it, but HP support was extremely unhelpful. I contacted them several times, but they kept avoiding responsibility and refused to process the return. disappointed with both the product and the customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works ok but support is non existent I ordered this to use as my personal hub, since my work one only supports one laptop at a time. It works fine, but I cannot get rid of a message saying that I need a higher output ac adapter. I tried upgrading drivers, getting the latest firmware, it did not work. The manual says I need at least 90, I have a 100w. I called support, they couldn't figure it out and said they would call me back, they never did.
