HP LaserJet Pro MFP M227fdn is rated 3.67 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product but very frustrating set up experienc I thought I was getting a wireless connection printer. It is not wireless Initial connection and set up instructions are poor at best The printer did not print envelopes correctly and I spent about two hours chatting with a technician trying to correct the problem and finally the technician figured out that the unit had not initialized correctly during set up. This was a very frustrating experience. Since then, the printer has performed well. Print quality is good. Suggest HP make sure the customer knows exactly what he is getting (wireless vs. hard wired) and make sure the connection and set up instructions are very clear to someone who does not deal with this every day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's fine It is the closest replacement to the M1522nf which I really liked. It prints fine and the phone book for fax is easy once you figure it out. Envelopes print a bit slow and must use upper/extra print area but it's fine. Good printer/fax machine for price. Con is it really doesn't do two sided-it does only from computer print job...not for copy job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Breaks a lot - forth machine in six months!! Someone way up the food chain from my level chooses the equipment my business uses. All I can say is if that person really had to use this printer, they'd be removed from service - immediately!!! I'm now on my fourth machine in six months - it didn't even have an instruction book on how to set it up and use it. What a piece of junk!!!! To me the only thing this machine is good for is...........target practice!! :-( In fact if the people working at HP had to use this, they'd probably get rid of it as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useless as MFP; Eco-Politics over Biz Productivity HP chooses Eco Politics over business productivity. How unfortunate! Long time HP customer for small business needs, will likely never buy another HP machine. For someone who is looking for a limited-use printer, this machine does the job efficiently. However, for a business which needs it's MFP (keyword MFP, not simply printer) to run 24/7, even when ports are inactive, this machine is useless after business hours as the user cannot disable the "auto-off" feature. Funny that while this feature may earn HP its little energy star sticker for its machines, it forces businesses to be less green in the long run by leaving them no choice but to leave their ports active 24/7, even during non-business hours. Shame!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features i bought this a few weeks ago to replace a plain printer i had for years in my office. I've used every feature on this already except the faxing and it works great. I'm loving it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice printer. I recommend it. My LaserJet 1200 recently died on me. Provided many years of service, so naturally I went looking at another HP. Didn't need anything fancy since I have a printer specifically for that. Just wanted a workhorse for black and white. Didn't want any wireless connections. Like to keep things simple and reliable. This printer looked like it would fit the bill. And then after price shopping for this specific model, found the best price here - by 10s of dollars. So far, used it for printing full size and for labels, and also for copying multiple sheets. Works fantastic. Only had it for a few weeks, so time will tell, but I'm quite happy at the moment. Haven't tried the fax yet, but expect no problem since all else is working as advertised. I did see negative feedback elsewhere about the icons on the keypad. I do agree with them. Looking at them, had no clue what they meant, but the manual identifies them. Had to resort to the manual before I could copy because I didn't know what button to press. But in any case, I'm quite happy with the purchase and recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Returned for higher quality printer Purchased printer online for my office. This is not office grade equipment. There was not even a paper drawer included. I returned this printer and purchased the MFP M 426fdn for about $60 more and the quality of the printer is exponentially better, with much lower cost per copy too. I recommend the upgrade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good. You only know how much you use a printer when the one you have breaks. We were never so glad to see Fed Ex at the door with our new HP printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Printer This printer gets four stars because I’ve had it less than a month. It replaced a HP all in one inkjet that went out suddenly without warning. I’m still learning how to use all of the features because it differs from the printer I had previously. It has met my expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have tried 3 times and cannot get it to copy. Poor, I cannot get this machine to work. The set-up instructions are not clear. I do not want the Fax feature. Do I have to connect that ?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great hardware... software, meh... not so much. Hardware is great, typical HP quality, although I am a bit concerned with the small size of the toner cartridge. The software... sorry HP, but this is pure junk. You can no longer scan to email UNLESS you use Outlook... and we don't. Getting the send Fax from PC ONLY works if you connect via USB. By "upgrading" to this new printer, our HR gal LOST functionality (and she's NOT happy about that). You need to fix this software or outsource the job to someone who can produce useful, functional code.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from expected a bit more i have been a huge user of hp products for many years. i bought two of these a short time ago, not realising that they have a fax capability but no wireless capability. not sure why in this digital age, hp chooses to give fax (only used in a few sectors anymore, including medical and law enforcement) but not wireless. at the cost of this printer, i really think they could have included wireless without going bankrupt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice size, not reliable! I purchased two of these to use with two computers at each library location to print to and to use for faxing when library patrons come in and need to fax things. Both units are configured to print out a fax conformation page. The issue I have been experiencing is they will power cycle when faxing and printing at random times. The Fax log indicates Power Fail. I have been in contact with HP Support and they seem to think the machines are fine and the issue is with the power outlet being too far away from where the power comes in causing the device to not get enough power from the outlet. I was also told that this is a consumer device designed for home and small/home office use and I should think about getting a business class device because they will work better. If you only have 1 computer on the network that your network printer is using and don't mind random reboots when printing or faxing then this is the device for you !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very non-user friendly setup instructions I thought I was ordering a wireless printer. The directions for a non-technical savvy person are horrible, covering several models. I spent much frustrated time in setting up to use, an hour or so of which was on chat with one of your technical specialists., only finally finding out that the USB cord and the Ethernet cables were both needed to be purchased separately. The only reason I am not sending it back is because I need the fax for home business and don't want to monkey around any further. I loved my wireless 6600 inkjet that the printhead recently died on. It was very user friendly. This one, even the screen directives are not so simple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fulfills all expected or wanted. The printer is well-made and does not have idiosyncronies. The user manual might be made more obvious and easier to use by someone who has only a casual use of the printer -- like an index that lists all needs and situations regardless of how obvious theymay be to a user mnul writer who works for HP.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good small office printer Print quality is superb, printing speed is excellent and quite. Connects seamlessly to the network. The manual tray is set back into the printer and has no support towards the front so loading paper and envelopes requires patients.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very fast!! This is an upgrade over a model I had for 5 or six years. It is exactly what you would hope to find in an upgrade – – improvement of features, ease-of-use – – it’s all there! Could not be more satisfied with my purchase. Hewlett Packard was a pleasure to deal with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multi purpose printer When my old HP MFP exploded, I went to find one that was as easy and simple to use. It's quieter than my old one, and holds more sheets of paper in the tray. This machine did the trick! The only issue is how to darken and enlarge the print!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Expectations Dashed I am a great fan of HP products. The multi-function machine works well once you figure out how to use it. The information which comes with it is not in easy to understand language(I have a doctorate). It covers multiple machines. Even downloading the owner's manual, one has to determine which machine they are describing. I think a company as large a hp could offer information specific to the product purchased in easy to understand English.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No longer has scan to email or scan to network loc Software specifically listed as "full" from website installs application to setup. HP Printer Assistant, Under the Print Scan & Fax section, has wizards for Scan to E-mail Wizard and Scan to Network Folder Wizard, only to get the message "The scan to email feature is not supported on your printer." "The Scan to Network Folder is not supported on your printer" Then why is it an option in your "HP PRINTER ASSISTANT"?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not What I Ordered & Horrible Customer Service I purchased this a couple of weeks ago, after having been a dedicated HP printer fan through the years. The product advertised a very user friendly device that would seamlessly connect to a network. I've connected an HP printer easily in the past, and assumed this would be a simple process. I just tried connecting it, and found that the functions I saw on the site are not available on this printer. I have since tried using HP's chat function to get assistance, an automatic online area of their site to request a refund, and also tried calling them. But I have not received a resolution to my problems through any of these options.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good Only had it for a week. Easily installed. Wired to my router. Wireless devices pick the printer up immediately. Make sure you clean the scanner before use. I had streaks right out of the box. Haven't tried IP fax yet but landline fax works fine. Wish I had a second paper tray for envelops.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Price Bought the HP Laser Jet Pro M227fdn for home use so I haven't used it much. The print quality seems fine & fast so I'm happy with it so far. Replaced an old Dell all-in-one that failed after several years, the HP cost & weighs about half as much & seems to perform about the same. Great for the home in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a complete stand alone. There are some settings that cant be used at the printer. The setting are a mix of computer and on screen settings. If you have a computer hooked up you can resize a copy, but not if you don't have the software installed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great printer for the price This printer sits on one person's desk and prints and scans everything necessary. We are replacing our HP 1536dnf MFP's. The scanning broke on all of those at the same time. I contacted HP but since they were out of warranty they wouldn't help. We have over 30 of the 1536's to replace with these and this M227fdn seems to be a much better quality printer for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very unreliable Bought this printer about a year ago and had issues from the very beginning. It takes forever to even begin printing, and sometimes it doesn't even print. Also, I can't have more than one envelope in the tray or else it will get jammed, which I would easily ignore if the printer actually worked when it was supposed to. I have contacted support on multiple occasions, and even had our IT guy take a look, but nothing works. This is the third HP printer I have gone through at this company, and I will not be buying another.
